Welcome to my Super Mario Galaxy - Comet FAQ. I hope this will be a useful
tool for those lucky gamers who have just received this game for Christmas.
When I first went on the Super Mario Galaxy Message Board to ask a question
about this game, I found others asking many questions about comets. So I
decided to help them out with this FAQ. After all, "Prankster Comets" are
1/4 of the game's stars. Feel free to suggest ideas and alternate strategies
to and I will add you in my Special Thanks. This is my first FAQ so I hope
you'll find this FAQ enjoyable and very informative.

3. All About Galaxy's Comets - AAGXC
==================================================
This is where you can learn more about Super Mario Galaxy's Comet's. They
are also called, "Prankster Comets". You aren't able to start doing the first
four comet missions until you have 12 stars. When you beat the final boss, you
will be able to do purple comet missions. Each main galaxy has two comets
that you will need to complete in order to get 120 stars. In each galaxy,
only one comet can be in orbit at one time. Mini Galaxy's do not have comet
missions. Comets will disappear if you ignore them, and only appear at random
times. You can talk to the purple luma that Rosalina shows you after you have
12 stars to move comets around. It will either remove all comets from
orbiting in galaxies, remove some of them, or make some appear. To look at
a comet's whereabouts, talk to the black luma, Polari, and he will show you
a map that tells you which galaxies comets are in if they are in orbit.
I'll start off the second portion of this comet tutorial by stating the
types of, "Prankster Comets".
1. Speedy Comets - These types of comets will have you race against the
clock to complete a previous star you have earned. Try to ignore all extra
goodies such as star bits, 1-ups, or coins. They are red
2. Cosmic Comets - These types of comets will have you race against a
cosmic form of either Mario or Luigi. Again, try to avoid extra goodies, and
look for every shortcut that you can find. They are blue. Below, you will
find the statistics for each cosmic character.
Cosmic Mario Stats:
1. Speed: Okay
2. Intelligence: Mediocre
3. Jump: Medium
4. Color: Blue
5. Long Jump Use: Occasionally
Cosmic Luigi Stats:
1. Speed: Fast
2. Intelligence: Smart
3. Jump: High
4. Color: Blue
5. Long Jump Use: Frequently
3. Daredevil Comets - These types of comets will give you only one bar of
health instead of three bars. You need to be extremely careful and take your
time with these. You'll usually be re-battling a boss because Nintendo wants
to make it extra hard for you. Don't worry some of the boss fights aren't too
hard. They are white.
4. Fast-Foe Comets - These types of comets will have you replay part of
level with your foes moving twice as fast. You need to be fast, yet mindful
because you'll never know what will be in store for you. Luckily, there are
only two of these throughout the whole game. They are yellow.
5. Purple Comets - These types of comets will have you collect 100 purple
coins. Some of these are the most difficult comets to complete in the game.
They test your patience, skills, and ability to hunt down 100 of those little
darned things called coins. Don't be discouraged if you find yourself unable
to complete one. You WILL get it eventually, but if it really is too hard for
you to beat, you have you're very own strategy right here in my FAQ.
Obviously, they are purple.
You must have noticed the * next to some of the galaxies, right? Well, it's
there because it shows that there are two strategies for a comet in that
galaxy. Also here is a suggestion noted by Pnaw10.com.
USING EXTRA TIME IF YOU MESS UP ON A TIMED MISSION:
If you fall to the ground at any point during a timed mission, there's no
sense in trying to get back on track. There just isn't enough time to
recover. If you fall off, don't stress out trying to catch up. It's
impossible. Rather, put the remaining time to good use by collecting star
bits you normally wouldn't be able to get. After all, star bits continue to
add up even if you die over and over again... so you can try to get enough
for another 1-UP, and of course, those star bits will be added to your
overall total once you finally do make it all the way up to the star.
Now that we've gotten the basics down, I can show you the strategies
I have written up just so gamers who struggle on, "Prankster Comets" can beat
the game with all "242" stars so they will feel all fuzzy inside. Before we
start, here is a little quote from the Prankster Comet Luma:
"Now the fun part is trying each comet out."

4. Hanging Around In The Terrace - TTERR
==================================================
------------------------------------
4.1: Good Egg Galaxy - GEGLY
------------------------------------
-Speedy Comet-
>Dino Piranha Speed Run<
This is just like the regular Dino Piranha mission. Start out by running
to the bridge on the right, and long jumping until you reach the yellow luma.
Talk to it so it will make a launch star appear. Jump in the launch star and
launch yourself up to the next launch star. Launch yourself to the next
planet from that one.
Now you need to quickly gather 5 star chips. The first one is right in
front of you when you start, and the second is a little to the right of the
first ring of dirt, but be careful because the dirt slows you down. The
third is to the left of you in the middle of the crease in the next ring of
dirt. The fourth is a little to the right on that same ring of dirt, and the
fifth is even more to the right. When you get all the star chips, head to the
launch star that should be on the opposite side of where you landed.
Run along the side of the planet to surprise the piranha plant, so you can
spin and kill it. Use the vine that appears to get to the next planet.
From here, you can take two paths:
1. Run up and to the left and you will see chain chomps in your path. Run
forward when they go by and then look for another place to stay out of their
way. Repeat this a couple more times until you see a big purple piranha
plant. Lure it down to the ground and then spin a coconut into their head.
Use the vine that appears to get to the next planet.
2. Head to the right and stand at the edge of this planet. Don't walk too
far or you'll land in a black hole. That wouldn't be fun, now would it (or
maybe it would)? Anyway, step onto the small gray platform, jump onto the
shrinking, green square, and kill the piranha plant blocking your entry to the
warp pipe. Here, make all the switches yellow by steping on each one, and use
the new path made for you. Now, hit all the switches until you reach a dead
end. The switches will turn green, and a launch star will be made for you to
use.
Whichever one you take, you'll end up here:
Run forward to get to the top side of the planet. Make your way up to the
breakable crystal at the top of the gray structure. Break the crystal and use
the launch star you've uncovered.
Finally, you will fight Dino Piranha. Spin its tail to start the fight.
Ignore any starbits that appear and just concentrate on beating him. Make a
quick, sharp U-turn to cut him off. Spin his tail and he will take damage.
Repeat 2 more times and the star is yours.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coin Omelet<
Our first Purple Coin challenge, yay. This one's no sweat since all the
coins are right there for you. Anyway, I'll keep a tally for you so there's
no need to worry.
A sign is next to you once you land. It only says that collecting 100
coins will make something neat happen. The neat thing is getting a star if
you couldn't figure it out or never like to cheat in games. On the first
planet you will find 15 coins to collect, starbits, and a launch star in
breakable crystal. Once you get everything you need, head to the launch star.
While going through your flight, you will get 10 coins which brings you up
to a grand total of 25. Don't go through the launch star just yet when you
see it because it will only take longer to do.
On this next planet, you will collect 15 coins, while avoiding getting hit
by boulders. You should now have 40 coins. After getting all the goodies you
need, head to the encased launch star, break the crystal, and head to the next
planet. Again, you will get 10 coins while flying in the air to the next
planet and the option to go in a launch star to a different planet, but don't
take it.
When you arrive at the next planet, You will get 10 coins to bring you up
to 60 coins. Go through the launch star when ready to receive another 10
coins, but don't go through the launch star on your way their though.
You will now be on the starting planet. Go to the launch star, and this
time, go through the launch star on your way there to get 10 more coins and
land on the Yoshi egg planet. You should now have 80 coins.
Go through this launch star and then go through the launch star on your
way to the next planet to collect 10 more coins. Find the launch star again
on the planet infested with boulders, and go through it. When flying to the
next planet, go in the launch star on your way there and you will find the
last 10 coins to give you 100 of them. The star and you should both be on
the starting planet. Yay, you've just completed your first purple coin
challenge!
Walk forward to start a race with Cosmic Mario. You can start off here by
using the "Super Boost" which can be used by holding forward on the nuchchuck,
pressing "Z" at 2, pressing "A" at Go, and releasing all the buttons after you
Go disappears. You should be bright yellow and you will be faster for a few
seconds. Now, we can start the race. There are two paths you can take:
1. Run forward taking the low road on the right. Jump over the log and do a
backflip to reach the part with the waterfall flowing down. Backflip again to
reach the small tunnel that leads to a slide. Go down the slide, and then you
should long jump onto each platform while avoiding stepping in the honey. At
the end, grab the star.
2. Run forward taking the high road on the right where boulders usually come
come out of a tunnel. Run past the fountain until you reach the edge of the
of land where it is guarded by a fence. Jump over the fence, try to land on
a platform with honey on it, and you'll see the star a couple of platforms in
front of you. Long jump onto each platform to reach the star.
-Cosmic Comet-
>Honeyhive Cosmic Luigi Race<
For this one, I recommend using the second path mentioned in the Honeyhive
Cosmic Mario Race. This is only because Cosmic Luigi is smarter than Cosmic
Mario, and he will beat you to the tunnel. Anyway, use the "Super Boost" and
use this path to win:
-Purple Comet-
>The Honeyhive's Purple Coins<
Start off by collecting the 11 (yes 11, not 10 coins) in the lake and on
land. There are 5 in the water in front of you, and 5 on land in front of
you. Now, head to the left, and tilt your camera with the right button on the
directional pad twice. You should see a coin on a small ledge. Jump down to
get it and get back onto the course. Ignore the coins on the hill and head
right until you reach the place where the boulders empty out. Use a backflip
to reach a coin in the air above this spot. You should now have 12 coins.
Head to the even more to right until you reach a swing made of vines. Ignore
the gray block for now because you'll use it later.
Get the one coin here and look to the right to find the coin in between the
gap. Go past it and you'll find a coin in a puddle of water on your left.
Head right to find three coins while you get to the wall jump site and find
three more when you wall jump. Get the two coins up here and fall down to the
left.
Get the five coins around the fountain so you have 28. Now, here is the
tricky part. Get onto the 3 gray blocks that are piled on top of each other.
Do a sideflip and then spin towards the wall. Grab onto the wall immediately
after your spin, press "A", and spin again to get to the top of the platform.
Collect the five coins up here, and then go to the bottom right corner. You
will see a ledge. Backflip onto it and collect another five purple coins by
following the trail. Once you reach the hill going upwards that you can't
walk up, backtrack to the where water was falling and fall down into it.
Collect the two coins here, and you should have 40 coins.
Go down the pipe to find yourself in the middle of two paths that have
purple coins. Go forward towards the platforms with honey on them to get
nine coins and a 1-Up at the end. Now backtrack to your original spot, but
this time, go backwards to find two coins. Don't worry about the coins on the
slide for now. Go down the pipe.
You will be on the platform above where boulders come out of. Run forward
and you will fall off at the fountain. Now, you can ground-pound all of the
gray blocks to get starbits near there. At the top left part of the fountain
area, look down, and you should see a huge stack of gray blocks. Ground-pound
them, and a coin will be waiting right in front of you just waiting for you to
collect it. You should now have 52 coins.
Get out of this area and go towards where I told you to ignore the single
gray block at the beginning of the level. Ground-pound it to reveal a vine
you can use to get to the other side of this level. Once you get off this
vine, quickly spin once you're in reach of the next one. Head to the right,
and collect three coins that are above the water. Head to the left and
ground-pound the gray block on the trampoline. Jump on the trampoline, and
press "Z" to bounce higher on it. Gravitate outwards while using the high
jump on the trampoline and then inwards to land on the block that is
conveniently placed for you to land on. Backflip to get the purple coin up
there and jump off the block towards the big tree.
Get the five coins around the lake's edge and then, hop onto the wooden
railing on the right edge of the course. CAREFULLY, get the five coins there
for a total of 66 coins. Jump into the area with the caterpillar, and jump
out on the side south of the button to land on a vibrant green patch of grass.
Now, head south a little more to get three coins. Go back to where you
started, and go into the water to get a coin. Go behind the slim tree in
front of you to get two more coins. Go back to the area with the caterpillar,
and ground-pound the switch. A bridge will appear. This is your cue to go
down it and get more coins.
Ground-pound the stone block, and the wall will break in half. Get the
first coin by backflipping. Then, jump onto the next platform. Do a backflip
and then grab onto the wall and jump. Get on the next platform and wall jump
to the top of the wooden platform. Get the two coins here and head to forward
to the next area. You should now have 76 coins.
Run forward, veer to right, and the collect the three coins around the edge
of the lake. Get in the middle of the two mini towers, and wall jump to get a
purple coin. Grab the two coins on the top of the mini towers. Get off them
and look to the right. You should notice three coins in a row on a narrow
path. Grab them and head back to the mini towers. Look to the left and jump
onto a very narrow path with a purple coin on it. Follow it the opposite way
of where water is flowing to get another purple coin. You should have 87
coins.
The camera should automatically turn to reveal a big block with a coin on
it once you get the 87th coin. Fall onto the block to get another coin. Fall
onto the next big block to get another coin. Now, fall off this block to the
left, but DO NOT land in the wooden pipe. You will need to land next to it.
Go in the tunnel in front of you and get the three coins in there. Now, go
down the wooden pipe. You should have 92 coins at this point.
Carefully collect the five purple coins here. If you miss some, don't
worry, just go into the pipe in front of you. Here fall off to the left, and
use the vine to get to the other side of the level. Find the trampoline with
the sling star under it, and use it. Go in the area where the caterpillar
used to be, go across the bridge, and get to the top of this structure.
Backflip onto the narrow ledge, and have the game adjust the camera for you so
you can see the big block. Fall off it and go into the wooden pipe. Get the
remaining coins you missed on the slide.
Now, you must be wondering, "Geez, after this long walkthrough for one
mission, why do I only have 97 purple coins." Well, the answer is simple.
Take the pipe to the platform where you fall off to the left. Use the vine
to get to the other side of the level. Now, go to the area near the
trampoline closest to you, and you should see the last three purple coins when
your camera adjusts to the place you're at. Alternately, go near the
trampoline closest to you and press "C" to see three purple coins. Slide down
to get them. Phew, that took a long time. As a present for your efforts, the
star will appear right in front of you.

5. Splashing About At The Fountain - TFOUN
==================================================
------------------------------------
5.1: Space Junk Galaxy - SJGLY
------------------------------------
-Speedy Comet-
>Pull Star Path Speed Run<
Start out by using the pull star to get to the big cylinder. Use the path
of pull stars cautiously, but quickly to get to the next three mini planets.
Here, you will need to collect five star chips quickly. There is one on the
planet you land on. Jump to one of the other two planets to collect two star
chips. Jump to the planet you haven't been on yet and get the last two star
chips. A launch star will appear in the middle of the top two planets.
Get to the top of the rocket you're on and use the pull star inside the
planet and land there. Do the same thing for the next two planets.
Use the pull stars to navigate your way through this maze and you should
come to what looks like a spaceship site. Ignore the spider enemies and make
your way to the breakable crystals. Break the one on the right of you when
you first come up to reveal a toad brigade member. The next one is directly
in front of the first one. The third is right next to the second one. The
last one is on the other side of this platform in the biggest crystal. Save
all of them to get the Starshroom to land. Jump on the Starshroom and use the
sling star at the top.
You will now need to collect five silver stars. The first is forward until
you can't go forward any more, to the left, and then forward. It is on a big
purple block. Head backwards a little to find a star on a purple platform.
Head to where I told you to go left, but this time, go right. Go straight
after you can go right any more. Make a red platform appear made out of red
triangles and jump on it. Do the same thing to your right, and head back
to the beginning platform. Go left at the first fork you come to, and jump on
the platforms you make to reach the fourth star. For the last one, from the
fourth star's spot, head left until you reach the first fork. This time head
right, and up the stairs to get the last silver star. Go down the stairs, and
go down when you reach the fork. The star appears on the beginning platform.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coin Spacewalk<
Oh yeah! Our first timed Purple Coin Challenge. You must be so happy.
**NOTE** Spinning in the middle of the Purple Coin circles will not collect
the purple coins. You have to collect them on your own. **END NOTE**
You will start out in the place where space junk comes together to form
paths and platforms. You have a 2:00 to get all 100 coins. Start by heading
straight, getting the 10 coins on the brown platform. Go straight again, and
you will need to jump a gap. Jump straight out and to the left and collect
those 10 coins. Now, go left and up to get 10 more coins. Head straight,
jump the gaps, then go left, then up, and collect those 10 coins. Head right
from there to get another 10 coins after jumping a gap. Go even farther right
to get 10 more coins.
Go down until you see a right turn. Jump the gap, and then stop at the
dead end. Jump straight out to reach 10 coins. Go down, to the left, and
then down, again to get 10 more coins. Now go left, jump the gap, and get
another 10 coins. Long jump from where you are down, and go a little to the
right to get the last 10 coins. The star will appear on the beginning
platform. Go down, and jump down and to the left. At the turn, go down, and
you'll be at the beginning platform. Wow! What a rush, but at least you can
now get the star.
Run forward and jump before you hit the electric walls or the electric
balls. Don't want to lose a life on something as silly as that. Anyway,
jump onto the stairs to reach the arena and jump in.
As the fight starts, remember one thing only:
Jump on Topmainiac and bash him into the electric wall.
Now that we've established that let's get on with these horribly easy
Daredevil Run. Jump on Topmaniac to remove the spikes on the side of it.
Once they are out of the picture, spin Topmaniac into a wall. Keep in mind
that the spikes will come back if you don't hit him fast enough. A red beep
on his top will signal this. Repeat this two more times and the star is
yours. It's a very easy fight so I don't have anything else to tell you in
the tactics section. Grab the star once you win. It will be in the middle of
the arena.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins on the Battlerock<
This is not that hard although some people find it a little challenging. If
you know about The Battlestations Purple Coins, then this is a smaller, much
easier version of it. There are exactly 100 coins. There is no messed up
gravity so there is no need to worry about that. Don't move from where you
are standing (I mean don't move up or down. Stay in the middle of the
platform so you can stand there and you will collect coins without moving).
There is no time limit. Backflip to get the coins above an electric fence
that you can't reach with a normal jump, and jump normally over a small
electric fence to get the coins above it. Keep in mind that you will need to
go to the other side of the ship in some cases. I can tell you, this isn't
any harder than the "Underwater Cosmic Mario Race" which isn't that hard to
begin with.
==================================================
6. Cooking In The Kitchen - TKITC
==================================================
For this level, you must be very careful. If you even think about going
off track, you will lose many lives. Instead, follow this simple strategy:
Step up onto the stone in front of you, and wait until a moving rectangular
stone starts to move towards you (it has a 1-Up on it. Long jump onto it and
make sure you are quick. For you will now need to jump on to the next one
right after this one. Make sure the big moving block goes past you and jump
onto the path. Run upwards until you see a stone square on your left. Move
on to it. Wait for a big moving block to pass you, and immediately run back
the way you went before, but this time, make sure you land under his hollowed-
out side. Now continue down until you meet a fork. Stay in the spot you're
in, the stone before the fork, and the block will move over you. Continue
down the path to your right at the fork, and step on the raised stone at the
end of the path.
Now, go right 2 squares, and you'll be on the spot where the big block's
hollow part is. After he passes you, move right, and then up, and then right
again to step on a raised stone. Move forward to the edge of the path, and
long jump across to reach another path. Move to the next square (starting
from where you land) to be in the spot where the big block's hollowed-out side
lands. Move forward after that, down one square, and right one square to land
on a raised square. A Thwomp will be your last obstacle, which is a few
squares in front of you. You can either:
1. Go under it.
2. Sideflip, spin, then walljump off it and spin to land on the top of it.
Then, jump off the other side.
Being me, I prefer #2, but you should pick whichever is easiest for you.
Once you get past the Thwomp, spin the breakable crystal twice to release
the star. This is a very frustrating challenge because it depends on somewhat
luck when the camera angles are bad. Take a breather, give yourself a pat on
the back, and be proud of yourself when you complete it.
-Purple Comet-
>Beachcombing for Purple Coins<
This is a very straightforward Purple Coin Challenge. First of all, have
the urge to resist collecting the coins on land. Yes, there are coins in the
water, but luckily there are only five. Grab a koopa shell on the platform
behind you, and let's go for a swim. The first coin is to your left of the
bowl, at the deepest part. Now, head forward because there is a gray rock in
front of you has a purple coin on it. Head past the eels and a distance in
front of you should be a fallen pillar with a coin on it. Right in back of
you should be a brown underwater tree. Swim around the left side until you
see a coin under a brown-colored arch. Swim forward and veer right to see a
purple coin mixed in with some purple seaweed. When you get all of the coins
get to the surface.
Go to an the island with a shell, and a bent palm tree. Get the four coins
up on the tree. Fall of and go to the right. Get the coins on the platforms,
and in midair. At the next island with the koopa shell, and get the coin, and
jump to right where the one platform is floating; then to the island. Get the
coin there, go to the next island, and get that coin. Repeat 3 more times.
Go to the island with the penguin coach, and get the coin there. You should
now have 24 coins.
Turn your camera around to see a coin on a high, brown platform, and swim
out to it. Jump and spin, then wall jump off, and spin again to get the coin.
Go back to the island with the penguin coach on it and collect the six coins
in a row including the coin on the island. Jump to the vine near you and
swing around, collecting the coins 25 coins there. You might have noticed
the purple coin on the penguin coach's head. Backflip onto his head, and
bounce three times on his head to get it. You should now have 56 coins.
Go to the grassy area on the left side of the course.
Walk up the steps, and into the area with the waterfall. Collect the six
coins around the edges of the water on both sides. On the right side, step
down to get a coin. Go down again to get another coin. Go to the grassy area
near the water and get the coin there. Jump onto the vine swing near you and
get the six coins in the air. Make you way back to the left side of the
grassy area. Climb up the bent tree on your right to get two coins. Long
jump to the tree in front of you to get a coin. Long jump to the tree on your
left to get two coins. Long jump to the tree in front of you, but you should
miss on purpose. Look to your left at the fence, and a sneaky coin will be
waiting for you there. Go to where the waterfall empties out, and get the two
coins in it. Get the one coin on the floating platform. Go out of there and
get the spring power-up. Use it to get a coin behind the waterfall high in
the air, and the coin in the tree we couldn't long jump to. You should have
81 coins right now.
Now, use the spring to get to the higher area next to the palm tree you
just got the coin from. Lose the spring in the water. Get the two coins in
your path along the edge of the course, and the two coins near the water.
Follow the outside path to get three more coins, and stop when you get to a
small rock formation. Jump on it and get two of the three coins there (we'll
get the third later). Get the last two coins on the path. Head back down to
the area where you get the spring, get back to the small rock formation, get
the third coin, and use the spring to reach the next area where the path
stops. You should now have 93 coins.
BE VERY CAREFUL ON THIS NEXT PART OR MARIO WILL DIE BECAUSE OF HOW THE SPRING
WORKS. THIS IS POSSIBLE BECAUSE OF A LACK OF CONTROL WITH THE SPRING. IT IS
VERY HARD TO HANDLE AND TAKES GETTING USED TO. Get the two coins on the
ground, and super bounce onto the next area. Get the two coins on the ground.
Super bounce onto the tree to get the last three coins. The star will appear
next to the penguin coach. Go down there to claim your prize.
This is a hard Daredevil run so be prepared to work hard. Collect the
starbits, walk down the stone path, and jump into the arena. Bouldergeist
will form.
Stay fairly close to him, but far enough so when he pulls rocks out of the
ground he won't hit you. Watch for his every move. Black rocks contain bomb
boos, yellow rocks contain coins, and rocks contain dust. Be careful on your
part. Hit him three times to make him defenseless. He will keep leaving bomb
boos for you, so you will need to hit him with one before others explode on
you. Once you do that, everything gets quiet...
But that isn't the end. Bouldergeist reforms, and this time he has hands.
The rock colors are the same. He can pull out a row of sharp rocks to hurt
you, or he will raise his hands parallel to the ground and smash them down on
you. The shadows of his hands will show though. Hit him three more times,
(not including his hands. They are separtate so just focus on hurting his
head) and he will be defenseless again. Hit him one last time to get yourself
a hard-earned star.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins in the Bone Pen<
You will have a 1:00 time limit. This isn't too hard if you have a
strategy. There are 150 coins, so don't worry about collecting every single
one. For this one, absolutely, positively, definitely, avoid the meat
with bones sticking out of them. The only reason you want to hit the meat,
is to get the coins on the edge of the course.
Start by going into the middle, collecting the Life Shroom and the
bunch of coins around it. Be quick and precise with your movement. After
you get most of the coins in the middle, (don't spend too much time in there
anyway) move out of the middle going in the left direction. Go around the
edge of the bones on the outside, and weave in occasionally. Go for big
clumps of coins, and coins in lines. Once you collect 100 coins, the star
will appear in the middle of the Bone Pen where you obtained the Life Shroom.

7. Sleeping In The Bedroom - TBEDR
==================================================
This one is pretty easy. Just keep focused. Don't long jump because
that will make it easier for him to catch you. Just ground pound in front
of him when his body is out of the ground, and spin him to hurt him. Repeat
this two more times to get yourself a star. Again, it's a very easy
daredevil.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins on the Puzzle Cube<
For this one, you will be given a 1:30 time limit. Make sure you collect
all the coins you can that are in bunches while going around the cube in a
circle. There are probably at least 15 coins on each part of the cube so
collect as many as you can on one side without wasting time. If you can't
reach something, try jumping twice, and if you still can't reach it, move on.
There are 150 coins, but you only need 100 of them. Once you get 100 coins,
go to the place where you started, near the fountain, and the star will be
above it.
From where you start walk forward a little bit to start the race. For
this one, don't use the Super Boost.
Start by heading forward, skating on the ice block, jumping to the next
one, and then long jumping to the one in front of you. Skate forward, and
jump to the ice block on your left when you come to a dead end. Skate to
the snow.
Jump up when you reach the snow to change gravity and continue skating
forward. Take a left when you come to a dead end, and when you see an ice
block across from you, long jump to reach it. Continue skating on the path,
and when you reach a dead end again, jump up to switch gravity.
Skate diagonally down the path, long jump to the platform with the star, and
jump to get it. If they strategy is executed perfectly, Cosmic Mario will be
left in the dust.
-Cosmic Comet-

-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins on the Summit<
You will start by sliding down a slide. Don't worry there are no coins on
the slide and there is no time limit. There are 100 coins exactly.
As you get off the slide, there are two coins in front of you. After
getting them, go to the edge of the slide, and collect the two other coins
hiding there. Jump onto the brown platform near the toad, and get the coin
there. Jump onto the ice platform in front of you, and get the coin on there.
Jump onto the second ice platform, and get the four coins on it. Hit the ?
coin to reveal an ice flower. Jump onto the brown platform in front of you,
collect that coin, jump onto the ice platforms near you, collect the two coins
on those, and jump onto the platform with the fountain. Get the six coins
around the fountain, and use the backflip along with using spin to reach the
coin above the ice flower. You should now have 20 coins.
Get the ice flower, and head left to where a ? coin is. You can hit it if
you want, but it will only give you a bunch of yellow coins. Quickly backflip
over an icicle to get a coin, and see the small, high platform with a starbit,
and a shadow on it? Well backflip onto it, and then backflip again to get the
coin up there. Get back to the fountain. Get the ice flower, but this time
go right until you hit the wall, and backwards until you see steps and a sling
star. Get the coin on the steps and use the sling star. Get the two coins
near you when you land, and get the two coins along with the Life Shroom if
you want. If you happen to miss anything, you can get back up there once off
the slide. You should now have 27 coins.
Grab the ice flower if you didn't already land on it, and go towards the
steps in front of you. Get the two coins on them, make sure to land on the
water sprayers so you can make platforms, and get to the next area. Stay on
the snow instead of going on the ice, and make your way to the right. Get
the coin in the air in the middle of the two water sprayers. Now, go onto
the ice platform you just passed, and get the four coins before you reach
the push blocks. Jump on the first to get a coin that is above it, and do the
same for the next one. Go onto the snow, and get the two coins placed in
front of you. Break the crystal, and head onto the ice platform to collect
the five coins in the air. Jump onto the snow in back of you and collect the
three coins near the toads. Fall down the gap with starbits in it to get a
coin. You should now have 47 coins.
Use the sling star to get back up to the area we're in. Grab the four
coins on the snow to the left of you. Jump onto the brown platform that is
in the middle of the brown platforms to get a coin. Grab the ice flower on
the next brown platform, skate to the other side, jump onto the moving blocks,
get to the sling star, use ice power to make a platform on the water sprayer,
jump to the new area, and collect the purple coins on the way which brings
you up to 62 coins.
Get the four coins on the snow while ignoring the ice power-up, go to
the right side, and jump on the ice platform. Get the coin there, jump to the
next platform to get a coin, jump to the third platform to get a coin, and
break the crystals in front of you to find two more coins. Make your way back
to the starting platform, but this time go left while still ignoring the ice
power-up. Get the four coins on the four platforms, and break the crystals
when you see them in front of you on the last platform. Grab the ice power-up
and make your way to the spot where you can wall jump up to the higher
platform. Collect the two coins while wall jumping, and the three while on
platform. The toad says something about the peak, but don't even waste your
time talking to him. He could have at least put together a launch star. Oh
well. Get out of this area by falling off the way you came up. There is a
coin right next to the sling star so you know. I figured it was easier to get
on the way back. You should now have 81 coins.
Backtrack until you reach the two water sprayers in front and back of you.
Go towards the one in front of you. When you reach a dead end, sideflip,
spin, wall jump, and spin again, to get onto the high platform. Get the coin
up there and use the sling star.
Break the two crystals in back of you to reveal a fire flower. Use it on
the snowman blocking your path, and the one when you get to a dead end. You
might need to trips for this. Get the three coins in this area, and use the
sling star that comes out of the snowman.
Break the two crystals behind you, and get the fire flower. Get the coin
in front of you, and now we get an extra treat: No boulders. Now, we can
concentrate on finishing this quickly. Destroy the snowmen, get the coin
there, get past the push blocks, and get the coin at the end. Follow the path
by turning the corner, and get the coin at the top of the steps after you get
past another push block. Get the fire flower, and long jump across to get a
coin. Follow the path, jump up the stairs to find a coin, and destroy the
snowman to reveal a launch star. Take it, and you'll be on a path that has
four purple coins on it. Get them and you'll be before a brown block. Jump
onto it, and get the coin past the three push blocks in a row. Wall jump up
immediately after they retract, and get the three coins when you get to the
top.
The toad says to long jump so that's what you will do. Long jump to land
on a small platform covered in snow with a coin on it. Jump to the next one,
and you will get the last coin. Use the sling star that appears to get to
the beginning, where the star is.
Run forward, and jump onto the next platform in front of you. Get the coin
in the middle of the platform, and stomp on all five of the spiky heads that
appear. After they are defeated, go towards the middle again to make a big
spiky enemy appear. Defeat him by spinning all his body parts one by one.
After he is destroyed, use the launch star that appears.
Pull yourself out of the sand when you land, and jump onto each platform
until you reach one that has boulders rolling on it. Jump to the platform
that is in the middle of the brown circle, and use the sling star. Use the
second sling star when you stop in the air to arrive on another platform.
Use the sling star on the opposite side of this planet.
Now, you must search for the five blue chips. It's very hard to tell you the
exact location of all the blue chips here, so I'll give you tips on finding
them instead.
-You cannot move backwards in while in the sand
-Check everywhere for the blue chips
-One blue chip is in a treasure chest you pass so you will need the koopa
shell
-Another blue chip is encased in a crystal
-When you arrive back on the starting platform, a blue chip will be waiting
for you
-Don't waste time fighting the sand
Once you get all the blue chips, use the pull stars that appears above the
platform with the treasure chest.
Here, choose the left side, and jump across the platforms until you reach a
green pipe to jump in. Go in, and make your way to the ceiling so you can use
that pipe. Ignore the ? coin.
You're probably low on time now so let's get moving. Go to the other side
of this platform by going in the hole. Make your way to the other platform
like this on the opposite side of this area. Get to the other side of this
platform like you did on the starting one. Quickly jump to the top of this
structure, and hit the switch up there. You are now timed so quickly
backtrack to the place where you started, but hang a left this time. Jump
onto the newly raised platform here, and grab the star at the top.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins in the Desert<
NOTE: This purple coin challenge is very frustrating because of the narrow
platforms, and the instant death sand.
You can start out by collecting the five coins in front of you, and the

coin in the middle of the hole. On the other side, avoid the tornadoes, and
get the seven coins before the Thwomp. Now, jump into the tornado, and get
the three coins in the air behind you. Get back to the area with the Thwomp,
and sideflip, spin, wall jump, and spin again to get on top of it. Get the
three up there, and fall off to the left side to get another three coins. Run
under it to get four coins, and jump into the tornado on that side. Go
forward, and get the three coins in the air over there. Get the four when
you land on the ground. You should now have 33 coins.
Jump onto the brick platform in front of you. When you get to the next
hole, you should have collected 11 coins. Including the three at the end near
the tornado on your path. They are on the left side in the air. Get the
three coins on this hole, and go to the other side. There is a coin in the
middle of the hole on this side, and a coin you need to backflip to get all on
the hole. Collect the 10 coins on the ground going forward, three coins on
the ground going left, 12 coins in the air on going forward, and two coins in
the air going left that you can get for now. You should now have 77 coins.
At the hole at the end going forward, go through, and collect the 17 coins
here. Hit the switch at the top, and quickly, but very carefully, make your
way to the hole you arrived in this area on, and going to the left. Get the
one behind the tower on the right side, the five coins on top of the tower,
and grab the star that appears.

8. Polishing The Engine Room - TENGR
==================================================
For this race, you'll want to use the Super Boost. This is a short race
so you just need to be focused to win.
Run forward, heading the way the arrows point you, and jump onto the brown
blocks you see a distance in front of you. Jump onto the wooden bridge at the
top, and head right until you see another pair of brown blocks. Jump to the
top of them, and get to the next wooden deck. Long jump forward, in the spot
next to the bee, and long jump again to get to the next area. Run on the deck
in front of you, and grab the star.

>Cosmic Luigi Forest Race<
For this race, you'll want to use the Super Boost. This is a short race

Run forward, heading the way the arrows point you, and jump onto the brown
blocks you see a distance in front of you. Jump onto the wooden bridge at the
top, and head right until you see another pair of brown blocks. Jump to the

in front of you, and grab the star.
-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins in the Woods<
When you start out you have a whopping 3:30 to get all the coins. On this
one, believe it or not, you're pressed for time. Every now and then, a bee
will be on you course to tell you how many coins you should have when you pass
him by.
Quickly jump onto the block in front of you. Get to the wooden bridge at
the top while collecting the 5 coins on the blocks. Run straight across when
you land, and jump into the closed off circle to find four coins. Jump out,
back onto the wooden deck, and get the nine coins there. Jump onto the brown
blocks, and get the two coins there. The bee will tell you that you should
have 20 coins.
Continue on the wooden deck to get seven more coins before making a small
jump, and get the three coins on the deck before the jump here. Get the coin
in midair when you jump, and the coin when you land. Get the other 13 coins
on the deck until you see a bee ahead of you, and a trampoline next to you.
Get the five coins on the trampoline, and go towards the bee. He will tell
you that you should have 50 coins.
Head forward on the deck, but when you come to a trampoline, jump over it
to get the coin hiding. Jump on the trampoline to get three coins, and help
on reaching a vine swing. Swing to get the two coins in back of you, and jump
off forward so you land on the new deck. Get the three coins on the stairs.
Head left to get three coins in the air. Head right to find five coins. When
you come to a dead end, backflip onto the higher area, and collect the three
coins there. The bee tells you that you should have 70 coins.
Backflip, wall jump, and spin onto the higher platform behind you to get
three more coins. Backflip, spin, wall jump, and spin again to get onto the
platform with the sling star behind you. Make sure you get the coin hiding in
the little tunnel before using the sling star. When you land, backflip onto
the railing to get six coins there. Use the trampoline to collect the four
coins, and then use the sling star. Get the six coins here before you ground
pound the gray stone. Once you get the coins, ground pound the stone to
reveal a vine. Use it. You should now have 90 coins.
You will probably be very short on time by now, but don't panic. When you
land, get the coin in front of you. Run left, and go on the brown platform
that sticks out to get a coin. Jump onto the next one on the right to get
another coin. Run off there, and go right while jumping onto the grassy
platform to avoid the spikes to get a purple coin. Get the coin on top of the
gray platform. Run behind you to get three coins. Run out of there, and go
right while jumping onto the other grassy platform to get another coin. The
last coin is waiting for you right when you get off the grassy platform. The
star appears on the raised gray platform in the middle. Hurry to get it
before the clock runs out!
This one is on the harder side, but you can take one of two paths just like
the race in Honeyhive Galaxy. Make sure you use the Super Boost or you will
most likely lose the race. Cosmic Mario will only make two of the three speed
rings, but won't long jump at the end. Here are the two paths you can take:
1. Run forward, and when you get to the edge of the island, long jump into
the water and dive. Spin forward to get speed and then spin to grab the
shell. Go through every speed ring. There are three of them. The first is
in the middle of the water, the second is to the right of the middle, and the
third is towards the left. Make sharp turns and stay underwater the whole
time until you see gray steps. Once you see gray steps and land, get to the
surface, but don't throw away your shell just yell. Do a Triple Jump starting
when you land on the first step, and throw your shell in your third jump.
Long jump to the star that is behind the lighthouse in front of you.
2. Run to the side and see the light blue thing holding the water in the
course? Jump on that and long jump until you get to a gray wall. Triple
jump to get up on land. Long jump the star behind the lighthouse.
I recommend the first one only because the second one is tougher to
master. Path 1 is for beginners, and path 2 is for advanced players. If
you're in between like me, path 1 is probably easier for you, but hey,
that is just my opinion.

>Underwater Cosmic Luigi Race<
This one is on the harder side, but you can take one of two paths just like
the race in Honeyhive Galaxy. Make sure you use the Super Boost or you will
most likely lose the race. Cosmic Luigi will make all three speed rings, and
will long jump to the star at the end. Here are the two paths you can take:
1. Run forward, and when you get to the edge of the island, long jump into
the water and dive. Spin forward to get speed and then spin to grab the

third jump. Long jump to the star that is behind the lighthouse in front of
you.
2. Run to the side and see the light blue thing holding the water in the
course? Jump on that and long jump until you get to a gray wall. Triple

-Purple Comet-
>Purple Coins by the Seaside<
There is no time limit so you can just kick back and relax. There are 100
coins, but this one is very lengthy. You don't want to rush because rushing
WILL kill you at some point. This one requires patience, and carefulness.
Also, just to tell you, there are no coins are in the water.
When you land, head forward, and grab the bee suit. Fly to the next
island, and then fly up to the leaves on the tree. Get your first coin
here, and you will then see a moving cloud. Fly onto it. Get the coin
on the cloud when it goes to each side. From the side you're on, fly to the
stone arch in front of you, and get the coin there. Fly onto the next cloud
when it is low enough for you to reach it. When it rises to the top, collect
the three coins in the air. Fly to the tree in front of you, and get the coin
on its leaves. Fly to the stone pedestal with a coin on it in front of you
(you might need to adjust your camera to see it). Fly to the next cloud on
your right when it lowers, and when it rises, jump onto the red ship to get
three coins. Fly to the cloud on your left. Fly to the next cloud to your
left while getting the three coins in the air. Fly onto the island towards
your right. You should now have 15 coins.
Walk forward, and then go right to be on a paved, gray pathway. Get the
coin on the wooden block. You can't hit blocks when your Bee Mario so ignore
the block. It only has starbits in it anyway. Head right, and get the three
coins under the place where a starting or finishing line would be held. Grab
the bee suit if you lost it, and jump onto the cloud to the north of the
wooden block that had a coin on it. Fly into the air to get five coins on
your way to the next cloud. Here, hang a left, and collect the three coins in
the air here. Fly to the island in front of you, and slightly to the right,
and land on the palm tree to get a coin. Fly to the cloud in front of you,
and then fly to your left to get three coins in the air. Fly onto the next
cloud that is slightly to your right, but in front of you, and collect that
coin. Jump down onto the island. You should now have 30 coins.
Get the two coins on the wooden bridge, and head to the right side of the
lighthouse. The camera should show you three coins on the side of the wall as
you walk along. If you lose Bee Mario in the process of getting them, swim
back to the beginning of this island, and a bee suit will be waiting for you.
Once you're done here, fly onto the tree past the wooden bridge. Get the coin
there, and fly through the path of coins going backwards to get three coins.
Fly back to the tree, and fly through the other path of coins going forward,
and collect those three coins. You will have a very bad camera angle here,
but try and use the 1st person view to see where you're going. Anyway, jump
onto the cloud in front of you that is off the course. Fly to the next cloud
that is higher up that is in front of you while getting the coin in one of the
windows on the lighthouse. Fly to the top of the lighthouse to get three
coins. Jump onto the clouds that lead toward a blue ship, and get the three
coins on it. By the time you get to the big planet in the middle just past a
yellow ship, you should have 52 coins.
On this planet, you will get four coins. DO NOT GET HURT ON THIS PLANET OR
YOU WILL NEED TO GO BACK TO THE ISLAND RIGHT BEFORE THE YELLOW SHIP WITH A
PALM TREE ON IT TO GET A BEE SUIT. Once you find yourself at the end, fly
onto the cloud on the right. Fly through the air from here to get seven coins
by the time you land on the green ship. Fly down to the stone platform that
is in the water. Grab the bee suit if need be, get the coins here, and fly
onto the next cloud in front of you when it is low enough. On the tree, you
should collect 12 coins all together by the time you reach the top. At the
top, go down one tree platform, and look towards the big planet we got four
coins on. Well if you look near that, there are some coins that eluded our
grasp before. Collect all six coins. You should now have 88 coins.
Get back onto the second platform from the top on the tree, and turns
toward the beginning of the level. Get the four coins in the air when you
move to the cloud in front of you, and the one coin on the cloud to the right
of you. Fly to the cloud moving up and down, and collect the coin on the
stone pedestal. Fly to the next cloud while getting three coins in the air
after getting back on the cloud next to the stone pedestal. Go to the cloud
right in front of the palm tree after being on the next few clouds. Fly to
the right in the air to get the last three coins. The star will appear on top
of the lighthouse. Be extremely careful on your journey to get there.

8.3: Toy Time Galaxy - TTGLY
------------------------------------
-Fast-Foe Comet-
>Fast Foes of Toy Time<
Doesn't this seem familiar? Big moving blocks, and a Fast-Foe Comet.
Maybe Beach Bowl Galaxy? Anyway, this is a combination of Beach Bowl Galaxy
and Flipswitch Galaxy. There are 15 switches here you must change to yellow
here. Once all 15 are changed, they become green, and the traps that are red,
and have spiky edges stop.
Start by quickly moving right, and hitting that switch. Continue on this path
until you come to another pair of big moving blocks. Hit the switch here.
Keep going until you come to the last pair of big moving blocks here, and hit
this switch. Now, backtrack until you reach the robot. Long jump onto the
blue thing. Hit the three switches here, and go upwards. The pipe takes you
to the beginning so you don't need it. Hit the three switches here. Continue
down this path and find the next three switches. Hit them, and jump onto the
brown block. Jump onto the next blue thing, and hit the last three switches.
The star appears on the brown platform behind you.
-Purple Comet-
>Luigi's Purple Coins<
For this one, you'll notice you have a three minute time limit. Ignore it.
As you may already know, green platforms shrink and disappear if you stand on
them too long and they don't come back. Yellow platforms turn over once
stepped on and keep rotating. There are 150 coins, but you only need 100 of
them. Start out by long jumping diagonally to the right past the green
platforms. Once past them, long jump to land on 4 yellow platforms. Long
jump through the bunch of purple coins in the air on the right side.
From here collect all the coins you can and long jump towards a new area
through another path of purple coins. To get the groups of coins that are not
over a platform, you must jump and then quickly spin to get back on the
course. Go counter-clockwise now, collecting all the purple coins you can,
and the 1-Up at Luigi's fist. After you collect 100 coins, the star appears
at the beginning platform. Nintendooooooooooooooooooo. Why must you torture
us?
You'll have no time to ponder that thought because you might lose your
train of thought. Just hurry back to the star even though you should already
be close to it. This might take you a lot of lives as it did me, but
concentrate on what you're doing and don't get discouraged.
==================================================
9. Watering The Garden - TGARD
==================================================
You will have a 6:00 time limit. Start out by walking across the platform
to lure the green spinning top under the sling star. Jump on it twice to get
a boost to the sling star.
Here, you'll have to lure two red spinning tops towards the electric fences
holding a luma in a cage. Spin the two tops into the electric fences to
release the luma. Talk to the luma to use the sling star that appears.
Now, you need to collect the five blue chips. Hit the switch on the planet
to make them appear. The first is above the switch. The second is to the
left of the switch. The third is on the next part of the planet in the
forward direction. The fourth is on a raised platform on the next part of
the planet in the forward direction. The fifth is on the next part of the
planet in the forward direction, but you need the boost from the green
spinning top to get it. Once you have all five, use the pull stars to get
to the launch star.
When you land, you can go to the underside of the platform to get a Life
Shroom. Use the pull stars to avoid the mines and cannon balls while making
your way across the area. When you come to the part with the launch star,
when you're going to use the last pull star before it, press "A", and let go
of it when you're about halfway to the last pull star to gain enough momentum
to get into the launch star.
When you land, long jump on the edge of the left side of the platform, but
making sure your close enough that if you get hit by a laser, you won't fall
off. Use the launch star at the end.
Quickly run forward, and jump over the electric fence to reach the other
side of the platform. Climb the stairs, and jump into the arena to face
Topmaniac. Quickly dispose of him like last time. Jump on his head to
get rid of the spikes on his side, and then spin him into the electric wall.
Do this three times to win. Grab the star that appears in the middle of the
arena.
-Purple Comet-
>The Battlestation's Purple Coins<
There is no time limit for this one, but you'll need to collect all 100
purple coins. In my opinion, this is the second hardest purple coin
challenge. You need to be calm and cool. Don't move from where you are
standing (I mean don't move up or down. Stay in the middle of the platform
so you can stand there and you will collect coins without moving). Jump over
things when you need to. Always be on the watch for cannon balls because they
can mess up your whole run. When you come to a Thwomp, run under it to the
other side of it, do a sideflip, wall jump off it, and spin to get the three
coins on top of it.
Be careful with gravity because it messes your head and controls up. Just
stay focused, and it won't be that hard. When you get off the platform, and
have 99 coins with launch star next to you, go in the launch star to get the
100th coin while flying in the air. The star will appear right in front of
you when you land from the launch star. Don't be discouraged if you don't get
it on your first try. This is a very frustrating level.

9.2: Deep Dark Galaxy - DEGLY
------------------------------------
-Daredevil Comet-
>Ghost Ship Daredevil Run<
This is probably the hardest, if not, the second hardest of the Daredevil
Runs in my opinion. You have to fight Kamella, (or as I like to call her,
"The Witch Lady") and this becomes increasingly difficult once you get past
her second stage. Anyway, I'll explain more about that later because I'm
getting too far ahead of myself.
You start off not on the Ghost Ship, but on the island you use to get to
the ship. Run forward and avoid the Boos. Jump up the wooden stairs and
inside the ship to start the battle.
There are 2 types of magic spells that Kamella will shoot at you:
1. Red Spell - Avoid it at all costs, especially when Kamella shoots it at
you. It creates fire which will kill you since you only have 1 bar of health.
2. Green Spell - This is the spell you want. It will fabricate a green shell
if you spin when its near you or when it hits something. Either way, you will
need to get a shell, and shoot it at Kamella to hurt her.
If you get hit by either one (direct contact) it will kill you, so be alert.
Now, I'll give you a strategy to beat her.
This is the First Stage:
Kamella will be hovering over the water, which is quite a distance from
you. Have Kamella shoot a spell at you. If it is red, run away from it. If
it is green, spin near it to obtain a green koopa shell. Get in line with
Kamella, and shoot the shell at her to damage her once.
This is the Second Stage:
She will now be floating above the ship, so you'll have to move around
faster, and quicken your reflexes. Have Kamella shoot a spell at you. If it
is red, run away from it. If it is green, spin near it to obtain a green
koopa shell. Get in line with Kamella, and shoot the shell at her to damage
her once.
This is the Third Stage:
Kamella will move up to the lookout tower on the upper part of the boat.
Once you find the poll on the left side of the boat, climb up it, and jump off
the right side to reach the lookout tower. She will have 2 assistants. It is
harder, and more time consuming than just finishing Kamella off, to destroy
them. This will also leave you vulnerable for the whole fight. If you just
decide to finish Kamella off, the fight will take less time, but you will be
very vulnerable for most of the fight. If they cast a red spell at you, jump
on the rim of the tower and the fire cannot get you. MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON THE
RIM AFTER THEY SHOOT FIRE SPELLS AT YOU. OTHERWISE, THE FIRE WILL HIT YOU UP
THERE. Also, try to jump and then move away when they shoot fire spells at
you. This way, the spells will miss you and fly off the screen so you'll be
protected for a little while longer. To beat her on this stage, you'll need
to shoot a green she'll at her twice. Also, ignore the starbits that shoot
out of her when you damage her. Again, just keep trying because this is an
extremely hard challenge. After you beat her, grab the star that appears, and
give yourself a pat on the back for completing this very hard challenge.
-Purple Comet-
>Plunder the Purple Coins<
You can start off by turning around, collecting the coin there, and diving
into the water. Go under until you reach a cage while avoiding the jellyfish
in there. You will find 10 coins that are in a circle down there. Swim up to
where you landed, under the bridge, and you will find two coins. Across from
the bridge, a single coin waits for you to collect it. Get back to where you
originally landed.
To your right, there is a shadow on the ground near the wall. Backflip on
the shadow's spot to get a coin. Go over to the left, and head onto the
landform over there. There are 14 coins there. Jump off when ready, and head
all the way to your left to find a coin on the edge of land. Head back to the
place where you started, get the coin on the bridge, and go into the water.
Collect the six coins around the water's edge. Get the 12 coins in the water.
Get the seven coins on the back of the ship, and the three coins on the left
side of the ship. You should now have 58 coins.
Go to the stairs that lead to the ship. Get the three coins on the stairs,
and jump onto the boat. There is a coin on either side of you when you get on
the ship. Collect the coin to the left of you on the deck of the ship. Run
forward, and get the four coins there. Jump to your right after you get on
the part above the cannons to get a coin. Get back on the boat, and run to
the left. Collect the six coins there. Now, run to the right, and get the
three coins on the railing. While continuing forward, collect the coin right
before the brown blocks, and run onto the brown blocks to get three coins.
Jump on the railing in back of you, and backflip to get a coin. Climb up the
pole in front of you. Jump off the left side of the pole to get three coins
in midair. Climb up the pole again, but jump off to the right this time.
Collect the 10 coins around the toad. Backflip on the shadow to get a coin.
Long jump to get a coin under a spear-shaped rock. Get back onto the ship,
and look under the lookout tower. There are two coins. Sideflip, wall jump,
and spin to get both of them, but you need to do this two separate times. The
star appears on the ship, right in behind you.
For this one, you will need to take it slow, and steady. Ignore the flame
shooters, and jump onto the raised platform in front of you. Also, ignore the
fire enemies for now. Take this curved path until you reach the place where
lava shoots out. Jump past it when it goes down.
Make your way across the sinking platforms until you get to the other side.
Climb up the stairs, and run past the flame shooters. Backflip onto the gray
stone, and ground pound it to lower the wall. Wall jump right after the flame
shooters go by, (they shoot from the side you just lowered) and get to the
top. Run to the left, use the sling star, use the sling star by the volcano,
and use the launch star above the volcano.
Use the sling star when you land to be on a small planet. Long jump to
the planet in front of you, and use the pull stars. Here you will need to
be very precise with your movements. Press and hold "A" until you completely
cover the pull star you want to be on. Move quickly along after lava shoots
out of a planet. At the end, use the launch star.
Use the launch star when you stop to avoid falling into lava, and get to
the next planet. Use the sling star to get to the next planet. Here, you'll
need to collect five yellow star chips. It helps to spin the fire enemies,
and stomp them so they're out of your way. The first chip is right next to
you when you land. The second is right and up. It is surrounded by three
flame shooters. The third is left and up. Jump onto the next area, and go up
to find the fourth one. The fifth one is down and right. Use the launch star
that appears.
This part is actually not too hard. Just concentrate, time your jumps
right, and avoid the fire enemies of the few that are there. You don't need
to speed through this part, but you don't need to take a walk in the park. I
mean, c'mon, the only land you're on is sinking in lava. Anyway, once you get
to the top, quickly spin the crystal twice to get the star.
-Purple Comet-
>Red-Hot Purple Coins<
Ah! Don't touch the coins! They're red-hot, but purple at the same time!
Just kidding. I know it was corny, but I was getting too serious. I figured
that I can make the last strategy fun.
Start off by collecting the two coins behind you, and the other 27 coins
on this platform. Now, go to the part where the lava shoots up, and long jump
across to the other side to get two coins. Now, go right, and turn the camera
around. Jump, and spin to get the three coins over the gap. Jump back to get
to the other side. Go on the path of platforms on the left. The first one
has 9 coins. The next has three, and the last one has six. Jump onto solid
land. When you get off, turn the camera around, and get the coin. Jump up
the stairs, and get the five coins over the flame shooters. Run forward to
get a coin next to the flame shooter. Jump on the gray stone on the right of
this flame shooter to form a wall jump path. Wall jump to get the coin on
your right. Head back to where you got on land. You should now have 60
coins.
Backflip, wall jump, and spin onto the sinking platform behind you. Long
jump up and a little to the left to land on a platform with a six of coins on
it. Jump to the next platforms in front of you. There are two coins there.
Jump onto the next platform to get four coins. Long jump onto the next few
platforms to get three coins. Jump onto the solid land, and get the coin to
your left. Get the two coins on this area while avoiding the flame shooters.
Get to the top platform, and walk to the edge of it to get a coin, right under
another purple coin. To two jumps consecutively instead of three, spin, wall
jump, and spin again to get onto a new platform. Use the sling star, use the
next one to land in a volcano. Collect the coins here, and use the sling
star to get back out. Don't use the next sling star, and just let Mario fall
down so you can get three coins. This place looks familiar doesn't it? Long
jump to the solid land behind you with the flame shooters. Get to the top,
and walk to the edge of that platform. Double jump, spin, wall jump, and spin
again to land on another area. Get the remainder of coins here, (they are all
laid out for you) and once you get the last one, the star should appear behind
you.
Here, you will find questions that will be answered, and of course,
frequently asked.
#1
----------------------------------
Question: A comet was in orbit at a galaxy, but it disappeared. What do
I do?
Answer: Don't worry. If a comet disappears, it will come back if you
talk to the Prankster Comet luma, and tell him to "move it", or replay stars
in the game.

#2
----------------------------------
Question: How do I make Purple Comets appear?
Answer: You will have to defeat Bowser for the last time at, "The Fate
of the Universe" mission.
----------------------------------
#3
----------------------------------
Question: When do comets start to appear?
Answer: Don't get ahead of yourself. You'll need to get 12 stars first.

Question: Help! What can I do if your strategies don't work?
Answer: I'm terribly offended!! Just kidding. Anyway, in any case, by
some strange chance, my strategies are not enough, just keep trying to beat
the level. You'll get it eventually. Keep thinking of different ways to
beat those levels and hey, if you beat it with a different strategy than I
do, you can submit it to me so others can see it to. Don't forget you'll be
properly credited.

#5
----------------------------------
Question: What if I know something about comets that you don't know?
Answer: If you do, you can submit it to me, and it will have a very good
chance of being in my FAQ. It's important to have everything about comets I
can possibly add in this FAQ, hence the name SMG - Comet FAQ.

#6
----------------------------------
Question: Can you hold Cosmic Mario/Luigi in an event that a Cosmic Comet
appears with a second Wii Remote like most enemies?
Answer: Sadly, you cannot hold Cosmic Mario in place. If you could, your
hold on him would be destroyed if he moved out of your view on the screen.
So, this wouldn't work, and if it did, Nintendo wouldn't want us to just play
through a Cosmic Comet like it was nothing. They'd want us to have more of a
challenge.

This section was created in order to help others find out advantages to the
game that may be unknown. I know that a few people have written about some
uses for these levels that I didn't know about. Anyway, let's start.
1. Halt, Evil-Doer = Use player two's remote, and point it at the
screen. Press "A" on an enemy such as a goomba to hold it. This also works
with boulders, chain chomps, and green, shrinking platforms.
2. Fireball, You're Time is Up = To make a fireball disappear, point player
two's remote over the fireball on the screen, and press the "A" button.
3. Reach For the Stars = Have the second player point the remote at the
screen. The first player should jump exactly as the second player points
the remote at Mario and presses the "A" button. This will give Mario extra
jumping height.
If there are others that are helpful in comet missions, feel free to make a
suggestion.
