After starting a new file and watching the initial cinema, you will
get control of Mario. Collect the Star Bits & some coins (and jump
on some Toad heads if you feel up to it), then head right past the
pipe to a new area with a white Luma, who will soon join you. Head
right some more, spinning the Wii remote into the crystals for more
Star Bits. Head right into the castle where pandemonium ensues...
Eep, that's a big Bowser! Head forward towards him, where you'll see
that he's already captured the pathetically feeble Princess Peach. So
much for that cake I wanted :oP Head forward towards the castle to
meet up with two yellow Lumas and learn that your white Luma pal is a
Master Luma. *All hail*. Use the Launch Star they create to move
along.
When you arrive, collect coins & Star Bits in the flowers & from the
Goomba here. Use the red pipe at left to get a 1-Up, then return
back. Use the green pipe at left now to continue to a new area.
Collect more stuff, including the ? box at right. Head along right
to a ramp at the middle platform, spin at the crystal & fall in the
hole to the roof of the last area's platform. Talk to the 2nd Luma
("Over here!") and use its Launch Star. Follow the Luma, avoiding
the rock-spouting enemies, and head up, then right. Use the
yellow platform up, then another up & right (they disappear after a
little while). Backflip to the 1-Up, timing it right with the
platform, then to the checkpoint flag.
At the back is a ? coin to reveal musical notes. Follow them along
and right to 3 1-Ups (get the rightmost one first). Spin at the
rocks for more Star Bits, then go past the platform to the bonus
portal. Stand on it & shake to reach the bonus area. Use the
Rainbow Star to knock off all the enemies for 3 1-Ups in the middle.
Back in regular play, climb up the platform you passed, up to the
pillar & ride the yellow platforms to the Launch Star.
Jump right to the grey planet & use the Sling Star, ignoring the
first Launch Star, then use the bottom Sling Star to get lots of
coins. Ride it over again to the Launch Star, then to the
Checkpoint Flag. Avoid the muddy pits and approach the circular
rotating platform. Ride it around for a 1-Up, then long jump across
to the right & spin the crystal for another 1 -Up. Ride the 2nd
rotating piece around to get the Comet Medal. Long jump over the
quicksand, then up to the Luma and its Launch Star.
At the new area, go up the grey platform & nab the Life Mushroom,
which ups your health meter to 6. Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then
go up all the way to the top of the planet. Go around the middle
platform for a 1-Up, then climb up & use the Launch Star to crash
into your first boss.
Avoid his front end & spin at the egg to crack it, revealing a
red balloon bottom. After 3 spins, he will restart & go at it
again, this time faster. Search him out as he runs around &
keep spinning at the backside to earn the star.
You'll arrive on a planet & meet a new purple creature who will
help in your quest to...what else?...save Peach. Pick either
choice 2x, and the planet transforms into a huge...head?!? This
is your ship, which resembles Luigi more than Mario, despite its
"M" hat. You can explore it a bit, but more is to come later.
At the topmost part is the wheel and a pedal. Step on it to
reach the World Map, which shows all worlds & galaxies, plus
your star & Comet Medal progress along the way. You'll see...
Head down back to Sky Station Galaxy to continue.
#2- Storming the Sky Fleet
Back in the same planet but there's more rolling heads...yeah.
The bulbs from SMG are back & they will (illogically) squish the
little cannonballs. Use the green pipe at left to reach the
2nd area with new treasure chests. Spin at the green bulbs to
finish off the enemies & open a chest with a Rainbow Star to
destroy them faster & eventually reveal a key, freeing a
trapped Luma. Use its Launch Star.
Don't worry...it's glass :oP Walk upwards, avoiding the huge
Banzai Bills, then right to an opening. Drop through to the
Checkpoint Flag, then right & down. Drop into nothingness and
onto a platform. Nab the 1-Up at left, then backtrack down
again. Use the moving platforms, then right over the energy
ball & right to the enemy. Right is another moving platform
to take, then right even more to another enemy. Backflip to
the bonus portal (if you want to use it, go ahead--it's the
same deal for 3 1-Ups). Ride the platform to the Launch Star
between 2 energy balls, timing your jump, then hit the
Checkpoint Flag.
Step on the blue tiles to turn them all yellow (a safe pattern
is up 2, right 1, up 1, left, up, then jump left & down). Get
the 1-Up behind the Banzai Bill, then head left to another set
of tiles with a clone. Drat...Follow the path right, then up
& left, around to the end. Use the Launch Star & Checkpoint
Flag. Avoid the Banzai Bill, long jump over the mud, and
up to the trapped star. What to do? Go left past the bulb,
all the way to the spiked piranha. Spin into the bulb to
hit it & get a key, which frees the star. Backtrack, using
the hiding spots to avoid the Banzai Bill, right to the Star.
Return to the World Map & head to the next galaxy.
Head up & over the mud, using the left side ramp to avoid some
enemies. Step on the springboard to meet a Magikoopa. Step
on the stones to avoid getting stuck in the mud & stomp on the
Magikoopa to free the Yoshi egg. Jump on the egg to free Yoshi
in a cute intro cinema. Ride Yoshi to the green hill at left
and use the springboard, then float with A to reach the Comet
Medal at the hill's peak.
Head up on the right side of the area through the muddy parts
and the dead end, using the bonus portal there if you wish.
Like the sign says, grab hold of the large fruit with Yoshi's
tongue & pull back on the Control Stick to get the Launch
Star, then the Checkpoint Flag.
Spin the Chance Cube by shaking at it to reveal a coin, 1-Up
or enemy, then find & use the Launch Star to reach a rather
large planet. Use a spingboard against the mountain to
head up. At the spiky plants, jump & float over them with
Yoshi, and head around to the steps. At the top, you'll
reach more spiky plants, then to the springboard, and at
the peak, defeat all enemies to continue.
Aim & press B to swing from the airborne flower to reach
the next planet & a Launch Star. A complicated area
follows...Head up & use the Checkpoint Flag, then left,
using the swinging flowers, floating for insurance if
you need it. Target & pull back on the handle to
reveal the platform. Head along, then left, and if you
want to get the coins above you, swing on the flower,
float upwards to them (or dismount in midair if you want).
If you lose Yoshi, check the nearby nest. Use the flower
to reach the next top level. Use the moving platforms,
spinning at the spiders. To get the 1-Up, pull the handle
on the platform. Swing on the flowers up & left to the
next platform.
Use the left flower, up, then a series of them, going up.
Ignore the very top left flowers (that comes later); instead
going right to the crystal with the star. Spin 2x to get
it...but it tricks you! Swing on the flowers, starting with
the closest one, then float up to the star.
New galaxies open up & Yoshi is now stationed on your ship.
If you want, head down & around to the face, then backflip
onto the nose to find Yoshi. Swing right on the flowers to
a platform with some Star Bit-filled fruit & a 1-Up. Too
bad that Yoshi can't enter a galaxy with you from here :o(
Head back to Yoshi Star Galaxy.
#2- Spiny Control
It's Attack of the Lakitu! Jump over the Spinies for now
& upwards to get Yoshi from the egg. Head upwards to the
top level of the area where the Lakitu is on the prowl.
You can defeat it with a Spiny using Yoshi's tongue, a
technique that you'll soon use. Target the Spiny to
curl it into a ball, then target again to swallow, aim
with the red arrow by facing your new target, then press
B (trigger button) to destroy the glass balls around the
area. If you want, there's 1-Up in the upper right area
by the mud. The one you definitely want to break is near
the green hill with the Launch Star.
Use the Checkpoint Flag, then go upwards along the
thinner platforms. Use the Spiny move with Yoshi to
launch them at the distant glass globes. The left &
right ones have Star Bits, but the middle one is the
main one with a Luma, who gives you a Launch Star at
right.
If you use the Launch Star in midair, you'll end up at
a different area. If you missed it, skip to the next
paragraph. Several planets offer Star Bits, coins, and
there is a 1-Up under a planet at left. Make your way
to the top middle planet with a Launch Star.
Pull back on the red handled platforms, which have a time
limit. Grab the 1-Up at right, then head along more of
these platforms. Use the Spiny at back to break the glass
& use the Launch Star. Use the Checkpoint Flag, then
propel up with the swinging flowers to the top of the
mountain to fight the King Lakitu.
Get coins from the crystals when you need to. The point
is to use the Spinies to launch at the boss. Avoid the
electricity he uses after each hit. He will move a bit
faster & throw more Spinies after the first 2 hits.
Aim where he is as soon as he lands in that spot or you'll
need to aim where he WILL be very shortly. Collect the
Star.
On the World map, head right to a Hungry Luma, who will
return with you to the ship & ask for 300 Star Bits for
a new galaxy. You should have that amount, even if you're
not a big collector of them--I have about 350 at this point.
Feed him by targeting him and hold B (trigger button).
This is a more challenging level, as are most of the
Hungry Luma levels. Spinning will switch blue/red
tiles and leave some holes. Use the red platforms
along upwards, then jump & spin upwards to blue
ones. Jump/spin to red & up again, then just jump
(DON'T SPIN!) to the next tile, then long jump to
safety.
Now there are lots of electric fields, which you'll
need to jump between with precise timing. Stand on
red, walk up & around on red, then jump/spin to blue
for a 1-Up. Head up on red, then jump/spin to blue,
then to red, then blue AGAIN (arrggh...) upwards,
then jump to the tower & a Checkpoint Flag.
Same idea coming up but cannonballs roll along a
same-coloured path. Long jump to blue, then blue
ahead & bypass the cannonball entirely...ha ha!
Make it blue, wait for the cannonball to pass,
then long jump across to the lone blue tile with
the 1-Up, then long jump again 2x to the Comet
Medal, and lastly to the crystal. Jump/spin for
red, then jump (DON'T SPIN) between electric fields,
then jump/spin to blue. Head between fields, then
j/s to red. I would long jump to the red tile to
set yourself up for an easier end. Long jump
between electric fields to the star.
A bunny shows up on the ship...whoop de doo!
On the map, head right to the crystal for Star Bits,
then backtrack up & right to a new galaxy.
New item coming up...! Head right to the Spin Drill
and spin/drill into the hole you're standing in to
the opposite side where you started. Head left a
little & spin/drill into the hole for a 1-Up, then
head back. Head around left & spin/drill in a new
hole for a bunch of coins. The hole we want is
a little one near the bottom of the planet with a
coin in it. Spin/drill to reach the top of the
tower with a Luma & Launch Star.
In this new area, grab the Spin Drill atop a sandy
platform, then stand on a similar one at left.
Spin/drill to reach a tower, then head right to the
end & spin/drill to reach the tallest tower. Before
using the Launch Star, jump right to a smaller tower
with some coins. Fall off at right for the Comet
Medal. Backtrack to the taller tower's peak & use
the Launch Star.
Use the Checkpoint Flag, then run quickly across
the yellow platform. Avoid the annoying spinning
flower enemies as you go around counter-clockwise
(right around left), using the bonus portal if
you want. Come around to the top left, then use
the frontmost platform, then jump to the backmost
platform & wait a second for the Luma to arrive
with your Launch Star.
On the next planet, head around right for a Spin
Drill. At the very bottom near the rock, spin/
drill inside the hollow part for a slew of coins,
then spin/drill in the top part, and Launch to
the Starshroom ship. Use the Luma Shop if you
can afford the 30 Star Bit cost for a 1-Up or
Life Shroom (I'd recommend the Life Shroom).
Use the Checkpoint Flag & Launch Star at the
bottom of the ship to reach Digga-Leg.
Head to the Spin Drill, then aim & spin/drill
to the glass dome holding the star when it
sits under the robot's head. After each hit,
the dome will flip to the top (unreachable)
and will send drill enemies after you. If you
hit the feet, you'll just bounce back, so keep
trying. After 3 hits, you win the star.
The map expands to 2 more galaxies and the Starshroom
ship lands near your ship. Use the warp pad in the
inside part of the left ear of the ship to reach it
and get the 1-Up. Use the bottom portal to return,
then head back to the World Map to continue.
#2- Silver Stars Down Deep
Yup, they're baaaack! Avoid the following clone
and head around to the crystalized Sling Star, spin
and use it. Bop the Piranha Plant, then use its
vine to reach a pipe. Head down to the Spin Drill
and spin/drill down to the diagonal wall that will
change your direction. Head down & to the right
side of the sandy patch where a diagonal is below
you. Spin/drill, use it, and jump over the electric
ball to the pipe. Drill with good timing to avoid
the electric balls below you. Notice that he has
a second or so pause in midair. Use the red pipe,
spin at the crystal & use the Launch Star.
On the ship, hit the Checkpoint Flag & use the next
Launch Star. Now to find the Silver Stars. Jump
off right & around the track. Find the Spin Drill
and head up with it, drilling at the corner lip
to get (1). Head left for (2), then drill to
return back. Head left now and drill on the corner
lip to head diagonally left. Drill down on the
right side to find (3), then drill & go up the
track around to a lone star (4). Drill right there
and you'll find (5). Drill back to the outside track,
then head around to find your Power star.
At the ship, you'll be taken to a museum of items,
where the Spin Drill is added. This is stored in
a cave just under the hat brim of the ship. Also,
the green Banktoad is near the World Map access
pedal in the bottom left. Deposit Star Bits with
him to add up a total of 9999 to access the comet
star of the very last level of the game. I'll
remind you again near the end of the walkthrough.
Just talk to Toad, and press/hold A on Deposit.
By the way: Banktoad also transfers your bank
total to other game files on your game disc. Sweet!
Get ready for a new power item! Head across the bridge, dodging
the bird enemy who tries to plop on your head, and go forward to
the tree at right. Behind it, use the pipe to find the ? coin
minigame. Grab the coin & quickly follow the paths of coins in
3 different patterns to earn a 1-Up (or more).
Near there is a platform with the cloud flower, which gives you
a new ability that allows you to create cloud platforms (up to
3). Backflip & spin to get the most height out of it, then
go left to the red-bordered platform and onto the bridge.
Head up & use the stationary clouds, then use your own cloud
up to the Checkpoint Flag. Cross the clouds by long-jumping
all the way to the platform with a Toad calling you. Wall
jump between the boxed-on wall to the Launch Star.
DON'T LOSE YOUR CLOUD! Long jump to the column of 3 coins &
use a cloud to get the Comet Medal higher up. Avoid the clones
& collect 5 Star Chips all out in the open. Once you get all 5,
the clones disappear & a Launch Star appears. Use it (of course).
In the new area, use the Checkpoint Flag, then use the cloud &
backflip to get above the wall pushers and collect a 1-Up. Head
up, then go left to refresh the cloud skill, then long jump to
the swing & jump off left, then quickly spin. Jump along the
trees to reach the Captain. Launch, then long jump to the small
mountain in the clouds. Talk to the Chimp, who will give you a
star. He will reappear throughout the game to offer you minigames
for stars.
At the museum, the cloud flower will be catalogued. Head back to
the World Map.
After using the pipe automatically, you'll be underground. Head
all the way down to the red switch for coins at left, then spin
at the flower at right to meet a new enemy. Don't jump on him
until gravity changes. At right, spin the lever to flip gravity,
then continue right to the moving platform and to the big Piranha.
Wait for him to slam, then jump on him, and use the flower beyond
it.
In blue/down gravity, head right & slide to the Checkpoint Flag. In
red/up gravity, jump to the bottom moving platform to get off safely
in blue/down gravity. Spin the lever to change gravity, then backflip
onto the moving platform. HEad right & "drop up" (he he) to get the
1-Up. Head down now & right to the chute with cannonballs. Past that,
time your jumps to get by the Thwomps. To get the Comet Medal below
you, face away from the Thwomp, backflip & wall jump upside down off
the Thwomp to reach it.
Head across, boosting yourself just over the lip, then into blue/down
gravity, slide & use the Checkpoint Flag. Wall jump off the right
wall left to the Fire Flower. This is a timed skill. Spin to use
fireballs & break the crates along the bottom. Refresh the flower,
then change gravity, going red/up, break & power up, then go blue/down,
then forward to the Checkpoint Flag.
Now you're kind of away from the gravity on the green platforms. Head
along to the moving platform, over the gaps to the blue/down gravity.
When the 1st Thwomp goes up, head quickly under them all. Change in
gravity brings the same challenge. Now you're near the Star. Just
follow the gravity paths, trying to centre yourself with the Control
Stick to get the Star.
Secret Star #1- The Great Crate Incinerator
Re-enter Breaking the Laws of Gravity. This one is near the beginning.
Go along normally to the 1st flower, and spin at the lever ahead, then
backtrack left to the pipe in the upper left corner.
Get the Fire Flower & destroy the crates, especially the ones in the
upper right corner to reveal a red pipe. Take it to reach the minigame
with the robotic garbageman from SMG. Talk to him (it?), pick Sure,
and time to play! You'll start in the middle of the area with sets of
crates all over, not in any recognizable pattern. Here's a simple
strategy: Fire straight ahead, then to the right, then diagonally right,
right bottom corner, then left, then the top & bottom left corners. You
should finish with about 2 seconds left. 1 fireball will soar through
multiple crates in a row, so no need to waste time firing like crazy!
You'll earn the Star.
Pass by the cheesy Bowser Jr. statues to meet new enemies, which you
can spin out of the way. Head up the blue & green Lego-like bridges,
left to the Thwomp, then backflip & spin onto its top to get the
Comet Medal. Continue left, defeat the Magikoopa, then spin the lever
at left to open the window ahead. Head up through it, jumping to the
Sling Star, and to the Checkpoint Flag.
Head up past the rotating fire bars, then left & up, and right over
the gaps. Beat the Magikoopa, then left past the bars, staying left
to find the Life Mushroom. Use the Launch Star just ahead to reach
Gobblegut.
This is your first dungeon boss & he's pretty challenging. Avoid his
head and spin at the red bulging "bellyaches" (like balls). Run around
a lot to avoid his head & wait for him to dig into the planet. You
can stand close to the body of the dragon without getting hit, but move
when his head emerges as he will charge at you. This boss is huge &
the planet is small, so that can get tough to move around, but you
need to keep moving to avoid gettng hit. Where's the arena that most
Mario bosses fight on?!?
You earn your 1st Grand Star! A portal opens up, allowing you to
access World 2. You can return to World 1 by going left on the map.
Notice that a silver crown appears at any galaxy where you have found
the Comet Medal & all the Power Stars (meaning no Comet Stars will
appear), which will turn to gold crowns once you go through the Green
Stars. Anyway...
Ground pound (A&Z) on the left & right side of the big block platform
for Star Bits, then ground pound the middle block to lower the entire
thing...elevator going down!
Ground pound the top left switch & follow all the musical notes for
a bonus, then the bottom right switch for the Launch Star to continue.
Pound the tree stumps for Star Bits or coins, then follow the path of
coins, avoiding the rotating sawblades, to the underside of the planet.
On the other side of the middle platform is a pipe for a ? coin minigame.
Follow the 3 shape patterns of coins for a 1-Up. Once back above ground,
climb the towers to the top, defeat the enemy, then ground pound the
topmost platform, then the other two, until all 3 are flat & level with
the ground.
Head to the other side of the planet, climb the newly built tower, and
use the Launch Star, then hit the Checkpoint Flag. Avoid the sawblades,
and try to make it fast as your platforms are being cut down. At left,
jump to the platform with the Comet Medal to earn it.
At the green wall, wait until it forms 3 sides & wall jump between them.
Head forward quickly as the platforms are dropping off. Get the 1-Up in
plain sight and follow the thin platform with the harmless blue enemies.
Pound the red switch, then use the Sling Star.
On the small planet, use the Checkpoint Flag and Luma Shop (if you can
afford the 30 Star Bits, get the Life Mushroom). Use the Launch Star to
reach a block puzzle. Pound the star on the ends of each side not quite
lined up 3x each to complete the picture of a bug, which sends you the
mama & baby bug.
Pound the baby atop the mama, then pound the mama & you win the star.
Secret Star #1- Bugaboom's Back
Re-enter The Puzzling Picture Block. Go through the level to the small
towers where you'll find a Hungry Luma. Feed it 70 coins, then
use its Launch Star, and hit the Checkpoint Flag. Get the cloud flower,
then use a cloud & long jump/spin to reach the next platform. Do the
same thing again to reach the tree to meet a big bad bug miniboss.
Use the trampoline & your cloud move to rise above the bug, then jump to
its back & ground pound it. Avoid the water so you don't have to change
back. After 1 hit, he will rotate slightly while flying, and after 2
hits, he will rotate in 360s, flying even faster. Do the same moves
until you win the Star.
The Grand World Map will open, allowing you to navigate between worlds
from the map, and to view your progress in each of the world's galaxies.
The pink Mailtoad will appear just up from the green Banktoad. If you
see a letter icon above his head, you have mail. Peach's letters come
with 1 or 5 1-Ups, and some other goodies will be coming soon...
Head up & defeat the 3 green rock-spouting enemies to reveal the rock
mushroom. Use it to roll around & slam into the pillars. Find the
big pink crystal at left & roll into it 2x for the Comet Medal.
Roll into the upright wall to knock it down, then roll forward to
knock down the enemy bowling pins. Roll again off the ramp to launch
forward to the Checkpoint Flag.
Roll around into the pink enemies & try to avoid the boulders or their
rocks. Beat all enemies in the area to reveal the Launch Star & use it.
Change into Rock Mario at left from the start. Avoid the boulders &
cannonballs, and try to long jump over the mud. Further left is a
Sling Star trapped in a pink crystal. Roll into it 2x to reach the
small planet with a Luma Shop. Use it if you want/can, hit the
Checkpoint Flag, then use the Launch Star to reach the miniboss.
Rollodillo is a knockoff from Mega Man. Roll as Rock Mario into the
blue buttocks when he stops, and avoid his spiked ball when he starts
rolling around. After 3 hits, he starts moving faster, so keep it
going, and on the 4th hit, you get the Star.
At the museum, the rock mushroom is displayed. Yay...moving on:
This is likely the toughest level you've faced up to now. The music
is soooo awesome (from SMW for SNES). Head up the bridge to the ramp.
Get Yoshi and follow the row of coins upwards, then use the tongue
to nab the red Dash Pepper. Yoshi will charge forward up the slope to
the top. Use the Launch Star to the next area.
This is a tough part. Use the Dash Pepper & dash up the left side,
getting the ? coin for lots of coins. If you hit any green ramps,
you'll fall back to the start of this area. Head right, weaving
between ramps to the Launch Star.
Head quickly across the platforms that crumble under you, then use
the Dash Pepper to charge ahead. Jump over the edges of each platform
so you don't hit them. A bonus portal is at right near the end with
the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then grab the Dash Pepper, up, right, around
the poles, wind right, then down & slam into the wall to slow down.
Go right over the bridge & use the Dash Pepper up over the moving
platform, past the poles, through the purple borders & straight up to
the Comet Medal. You'll likely fall & need to restart this part, but
make sure you land safely. Past the Comet Medal, head left, then around
& down. At left, swing along the flowers to a new ramp.
Dash up, left between the purple shapes, around left & down, then deek
quickly right to the star. Use Yoshi to float to it if you hit the
purple parts or try dismounting him to fly up, but that could be
risky.
You receive a letter from the Chimp, a recurring activity throughout
the game.
Head back to World 1 on the map, then to Fluffy Bluff Galaxy where a
green Chimp icon sticks out.
*Fluffy Bluff Galaxy*
#3- The Chimp's Stomp Challenge
Approach the Chimp and agree to play. The game will start immediately
after the conversation (no countdown). The trick is to jump on as many
enemies as you can in a row without hitting the ground. You start with
100 points, up to 300 points each, and 100 points for every coin.
Don't worry too much about the time, but watch your hits because you
still only get 3. When you start out, after the first group of enemies,
head left onto the water for a small group, then up & left, and end up
on the green cliff with a large circle of them. A 1-Up is atop the tree
at left for extra points as well.
Break the record of 10 000 points to win the Star.
High Score: 11 560
Stay at this galaxy for:
Secret Star #1- Every Planet Has Its Price
Re-enter Search For the Toad Bridge Captain. Collect 100 coins by
stomping enemies & searching around. Most of them will come from the ?
coin minigame in the pipe behind the 1st tree and from this next area.
Use the cloud flower to reach the tree's top, then use the Sling Star
to reach the Hungry Luma. Use the ? coin to collect more coins &
once you have 100, talk to it to feed it & use its Launch Star.
This is pretty easy. Hit the Checkpoint Flag & use your clouds to
head all the way up. The platforms are also handy & several cloud
flowers are available for you to refresh. All the way up & you get
the Star.
Head back to World 2 and re-enter:
*Hightail Falls Galaxy*
Secret Star #1- Silver Stars in Hightail Falls
Re-enter Hot-Stepping Dash Pepper. Follow the level normally,
collecting at least 30 coins (especially from the ? coin on the
2nd ramp area), all the way to the ramp-bridge 2 areas away from the
star where a Hungry Luma sits at right. Feed it 30 coins to reach the
new planet.
Use Yoshi's tongue to snag 5 Silver Stars from the blue frogs hopping
around. Once you hit a frog with a star, you need to touch it to grab
it. 5 Silver Stars = 1 Power Star.
Head forward on the map to the Hungry Luma on the map & feed it 700
Star Bits.
After the vines, head up & swing right, then go along & up to the Bee
Mushroom. Avoid the water and float up with A to the Checkpoint Flag.
Fly up to the cloud, then up & over to the right to jump over the
spiked flying enemy to the Comet Medal.
Fly up & right all the way to the vines. Bounce off the big grapes to
boost your flight meter, then fly right & up to the Checkpoint Flag.
Climb the pole & go right, climbing more poles & avoiding the black
Fuzzies. Fly up more along the poles and then to the swings. Use the
vines, then to another grapey area.
Head along & right to avoid the spiky Piranha-like plants. Also avoid
the eater plants. If you step on them, don't stay too long. Float
along right until you're outside again and up to the right. Head up
more, avoiding enemies, to the Star.
A bee joins your company on the ship.
Secret Star #1- The Secret Wall Jump
Automatically swing on the vines & get all those Star Bits! Hop up to
the swing & swing right, then jump off to the wall when Mario's legs
are straight up. Wall jump all the way to the top to reach the star.
This is a fun flying level. Talk to the little bird in front to enter
a tutorial on flying. Switch the Wiimote to your dominant hand (if
you're right-handed, use the Wiimote in your right hand) to make
things easier. Follow the visual instructions until you get green
checkmarks on each step.
Cruise along and avoid hitting walls, barriers, or spiky plants.
To get the Comet Medal, you need to fly through all 5 red archways.
(1) is straight ahead from the start; (2) is not far ahead from
there slightly left; (3) is down & ahead; (4) hug the left side; and
(5) is near the end on the slightly lower left. To find the Comet
Medal, dip down a bit, then relax the controls to sail into it.
Finish off the course by flying through the yellow archway to win
the Star.
A letter comes from Honeybee with a 1-Up for completing Honeybloom
Galaxy. Sweet...as honey :oD
Head up & start swimming forward to the platforms sticking out of the
walls to grab a Koopa Shell & dive further down. The Sling Star gives
you lots of Star Bits. Keep going forward to the ? coin with coins,
and get the Comet Medal just ahead (a bit right) in the open shell.
You'll soon come to a tower with steps. Ground pound the red switch
atop it to freeze the lake. Spin to skate on the surface of the ice.
Approach the frozen twin waterfalls & wall jump between them. At
left atop the falls, spin the crystal 2x for the Star, which falls
to the right.
#2- Exploring the Cosmic Cavern
You will need to free the trapped Luma, of course. So we're looking
for a key...Skate on the ice that looks like water all the way up.
A green pipe lies to the right. Take it and pound the brick block
to slide down, then continue to swim right. Spin the crates if you
want coins. Jump over the bubble to avoid getting pulled back, then
wall jump & go right to the Checkpoint Flag.
Dive down with Z as the penguin says, then go left & keep getting
coins to refresh your air supply meter. Avoid the spiky plants
and then use the vent air to head right. Spin at the lever to
open up the floor below you.
Avoid the eels that poke their ugly heads out from the wall (ick).
Head down all the way to the pipe to the outside. Here's a part
that truly messes with gravity...Hit the Checkpoint Flag first,
then jump into the stationary water (?) and swim along the path.
Wait for the enemy to pass & nab the 1-Up below it. Head up to
the safe platform at the top to refresh your air supply, then
continue in the water to the top. Jump into the moving cube of
water, then jump to the new one, then up again to the key at left.
Use the pipe at right to head back to the beginning and free the
Luma. Use its Launch Star to move on.
On the Starshroom ship, hit the Checkpoint Flag & use the Launch
Star to...pass the Power Star?!? Drat. Avoid the purple enemies
that create an electric field around themselves. Find a Spin Drill
and use it on the long rectangular patch of soil on the bottom side
of the planet to reach the opposite side. All others will make
you bounce off the metal frame & return.
On the new side of the planet, avoid the Mechani-Koopas, driling
them if you want to. Find a soil patch with water leaking out
of it. Drill that & you'll flood the planet into a water sphere
that defies all rules of physics...! Swim up to the platform
with the star.
Now a penguin has joined the ship's company.
Secret Star #1- Catch That Star Bunny
Re-enter Twin Falls Hideaway. A Hungry Luma awaits by the tower a ways
ahead from the beginning of the level. You need 15 coins. Each enemy
brings you 1 coin, plus there are several coins in bubbles underwater,
and the ? coin brings a string of coins. If you're still short, freeze
the lake and get the 3 coins near the small waterfall at right.
Feed the Hungry Luma 15 coins to use its Launch Star. Hit the Checkpoint
Flag, then talk to the bunny a step away from it. Tag time! The planet
is very holey, so watch your step. Just left of the Checkpoint Flag is
a blue ! switch. Pound it & the planet will freeze, allowing you to
temporarily skate, which speeds up the chase. If you run out of time,
the ice melts & you'll need to reset the switch.
A more sophisticated dungeon, I may say. Head up & beat the Magikoopa
to reveal a Pull Star. Aim with the Wii remote & press/hold A to
reach the next area. Jump between the fireballs & on the moving
platforms to the trampoline. Pound it to continue.
Backflip & spin over the ring of fireballs, then ride the platforms,
nabbing the Life Mushroom if you can. Spin the crystal, then use
the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then go up to a big pool of lava with the
spinning platforms. Time it well to avoid getting flipped. A safe
platform sits at right, then further up is a Hammer Bro to defeat.
Beat it, then use the Sling Star.
Jump atop the rotating firebar platform to use the ? coin, then walk
around the circle of coins for a 1-Up. Pound the switch just up from
there to lower yourself to the next area. Use the spinning platforms
to reach a green carpeted area with wall slammers from SM64. Wait for
them to fall, then pound the cracked star on its back. Head right &
after beating the enemy, triple jump & spin to reach the Comet Medal
high above your head.
Head right to the golden ball & pound the star's centre, aiming for
the stone lock with the red Bowser on it. You'll be pulled forward
to a new area. Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then carefully navigate the
floor being eaten away by the piranha-like enemies. Head up & ride
the purple moving platform right, grabbing the Life Mushroom atop the
rotating firebar platform. You'll go up, right, defeating the
Magikoopa, then right to safety.
Ride the next purple platform, jumping over the electric beams from
the Bowser statues, then up to the Hammer Bros., who you can ignore.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and get the Life Mushroom from the left pole
to refresh or get a 1-Up. Pound the golden ball, aiming & firing at
the 3 stone Bowser locks, pulling yourself into the Bowser fight.
After the chat, you'll reach a small planet where Bowser will send
stone balls on your head. Ignore the lights that appear, then he
will pound the ground. Jump on a golden ball & pound it, aiming for
Bowser (anywhere but his spiked shell) quickly before they turn to
stone & crumble. After 2 hits, he will add a fiery breath attack.
Again, run away from the light and jump on, then pound any golden
ball to (after 4 hits) finish him off & earn your 2nd Grand Star.
This introduces a new ability for Yoshi (turning him blue!). At the
base of the tree, head to the underside of the planet to find Yoshi.
Find the blue fruit by the bonus portal (which you can use if you want)
and float up to the bough with another blue fruit. Avoid bouncing off
the boughs and move with the Control Stick, watching your meter. Take</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
the next fruit, going left & straight up. At left, jump & float with A
to the Life Mushroom, then do the same to get back to the last bough
you were on. Jump & float to the Launch Star (dismount if you need a
boost).
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and use the blue fruit to float up between the
moving platforms. Use the pipe at left for 3 Chance Cubes to get either
a Star Bit or 1-Up. Exit back and hop right across the platforms to the
blue fruit. Use the ? coin, but head left instead of following the coins
for the Comet Medal in a boxed-in area. Reuse the fruit after dropping
down and go right this time up to the next fruit.
Keep right to spot some Star Chips. Drop to (1), then use the moving
platform & drop to (2). At left is (3) by jump/floating to it.
Use the blue fruit just above the moving platforms for (4), then use
it again under the grassy boxed-in area (5). The Launch Star appears
above the last one.
The Power Star is just below you...so close. Hit the Checkpoint Flag,
then head down, and then left (no choice), jumping right to the blue
fruit. Float up & left to another fruit, avoiding the spiky plants by
switching the right. Use Yoshi's tongue to get the fruit at left, then
shake to drop to the next, and get the last one at far left to reach
the star.
A pipe is revealed on the inside of the right ear. Inside is a Luma
that offers 1 Chance Cube for 30 Star Bits. I don't recommend using
this as a 2nd one will appear with a better deal later.
#2- Tall Trunk's Big Slide
This is a really fun level! Jump to the swing & head up/left to the
next swing along right to a 3rd swing, then right to the Launch Star.
Now you're at the slide itself. Use the Checkpoint Flag, then when
you're ready, jump on it! *Funky racing music begins*.
Jump over the Spiky plants and avoid the Wigglers throughout. Jump
over any gaps and rows of spiky plants you find. There will be 2
areas where you'll need to adjust the gravity by turning onto new
tracks. It's best to just try it out and get used to the pattern.
When you reach the end, talk to the triangular-headed wooden guy
by the tree for the star.
A Widdle (wooden-headed guy) will join you on the ship.
Aah...so peaceful :o) Reminds me of Sweden with all the windmills.
Get the cloud flower, then head forward with the cloud, refreshing
if you need to ahead. Get the ? coin & collect the airborne coins.
Refresh the clouds & climb up to the vent. Create a cloud to catch
the breeze & float along to the drums. Bounce up, grabbing the ?
coin for 2 columns of coins to appear & get a 1-Up. Pound the red
switch on the cymbal for lots of Star Bits, then use the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then refresh the clouds & stand atop the
wooden platform to use the wind, heading up. Avoid getting crushed
by the wooden pieces. Use the bonus portal if you want, then
trampoline up 2x and ride the wind to the tower. In the middle
opening, nab the 1-Up & refresh the clouds, then get atop it and
use the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag & refresh the clouds. Use the wind to
ride along, avoiding the spiky plants, then refresh & drop a bit,
catching more wind to ride along. Get onto the moving cloud, then
wall jump, using a cloud at the diagonal top. There are 3 1-Ups if
you use clouds to reach the left. Going right from the diagonals,
you'll reach a huge wall that opens & closes. Head up with a cloud
to a space where you can wait safely. The Comet Medal is in the right
cove. Head up some more, then ride the wind & head up/right to the
Star.
Luigi will make an appearance, telling you how you can play as him
when he appears in select galaxies.
Secret Star #1- Silver Stars in the Purple Pond
Re-enter Head in the Clouds. Collect as many coins as you can,
following the walkthrough for this level to the point with the
Hungry Luma by the 1st Checkpoint Flag.
You may not have enough coins to feed it yet, so you can go slightly
beyond him by collecting coins off the crushing airborne wooden
stumps and the bonus portal area, but don't go past that point or
you won't be able to get back easily.
Feed the Hungry Luma 30 coins to use its Launch Star. Hit the
Checkpoint Flag & refresh the cloud flower. Avoid the purple
instant-death goo and jump to the clouds, collecting 5 Silver Stars.
Head up & right for (1) Silver Star. Clones will start following,
so *move it, move it*. Head up for (2), then left & up for (3).
Carefully backtrack, avoiding the clones who will retrace your exact
moves. Use your clouds to stay safe. Head farther left for (4), then
head back some more, refresh the clouds, then head into the bottom
left corner for (5). The clones are destroyed and you'll need to
retreat back to the beginning of this area for the star.
The baby Luma will get a letter from Rosalina with 50 Star Bits some
time in this area.
Your first snow level of the game! At the quaint cabin, get the Fire
Flower & destroy the Goomba ice sculpture on the underside of the planet
to use the Launch Star.
Refresh the Fire Flower & destroy the Bowser statue 3x at the very end of
the area. Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then slide down through the icy cave
to a new area. Find the Fire Flower in the corner & fire at all the ice
blocks on the tower to find the Comet Medal at the bottom around the left
side. Reveal the top of the green pipe on the tower & use it.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then roll a snowball along the lava to safely
cross on the icy path (spin for a bigger path), around left to a Fire
Flower. Long jump to the huge Bowser ice sculpture in the middle area
& fire at it 3x to reveal the star.
#2- Sorbetti's Chilly Reception
Change to Luigi when you arrive if you want. At the cabin, use the rock
mushroom and destroy the Goomba ice statue on the underside of the planet
to use the Launch Star. Change back near the blocked-off door. Slam into
a Goomba ice statue for (1) Star Chip. (2) is in a tree near the bunny
just off that one. (3) is in a Goomba statue by the bunny & green bulb.
(4) is in a crystal by the tree near the pond. (5) is in a Goomba statue
at the very top peak of the area. Use the Launch Star that appears.
In the foggy wintery area, hit the Checkpoint Flag & head up, following
the coins to see where you're going. At the bunny, you can jump down off
the wooden platform to get 3 1-Ups, then use the Sling Star to get back.
Head left to slide to another Checkpoint Flag. Use the Luma Shop if you
want, then use the Launch Star to reach a spiky ice planet that looks like
a familiar toy. Use the Sling Star to find the miniboss...which was the
"planet" you stood on.
Simply aim & spin at the red nose when he rolls towards you. After 2
hits, he'll move even faster. 3 hits & you'll win the star.
You'll get a letter from the bunny who doesn't leave you anything...cheap!
Secret Star #1- The Chimp's Skating Challenge
Re-enter Bowser on Ice. Head along as usual to where the Bowser ice
statue stands at the end, blocking you from continuing. With the
Fire Flower, destroy the tree on the right side to reveal a pipe. Use it
to find the Chimp & play a new game.
You'll skate on the ice, slamming into green men (for 10 points) and gold
guys (for 50 points), avoiding the purple spiked ones which will slow you
down. Get at least 500 points to win the star.
A tip: Don't stand on the holes after hitting a man in case a purple one
appears. Also, expect a purple one to appear where a green or gold one was
before. If they are about to drop out, move away or you'll be sorry!
Even if you hit 1 spiky man, you should get 500 or more points, but more
hit more than 1 purple spiked man & you probably won't win.
In a recurring level from SMG, you'll ride a glass ball with the Power
Star on it through obstacles. Switch the Wiimote to your dominant
hand (if you're right-handed, it should be in your right hand) to
guide yourself along better. Follow the sign's tutorial, then it will
start.
Roll upwards to be launched to the colourful planet and head to the
green area to find the key to unlock the glass dome. Head up to
the red area & use the launch pad to continue. Hit the Checkpoint
Flag & jump up, heading along left (all the way for a 1-Up), then
up to a platform that acts as an elevator. Slow up at this point.
Once up, roll over the blue ? tiles to make them yellow & ! Head
VERY SLOWLY diagonally up & left, then right & down. Head up on
a launch pad to a wooden platform. Head up, hit the Checkpoint
Flag & roll up very quickly to the Comet Medal. Race through
this area to avoid getting cut down to head all the way to
the Silver Chomp fight.
Roll towards him to bump it off the edge before it does the same
to you. You can jump to it, but don't do this near an edge or
you'll likely fall.
Once you win, head up to the coloured platform and sit in the
centre pink hole to break the glass ball, then climb the pole
to reach the Star.
This is a throwback to the Ghost Houses in SNES' SMW. Head
right along the red carpet that runs against you, avoiding
the spooky-looking Boos, which give you a gap to head between.
At the safe spot, there is a bonus portal down & right if
you want it. Take the Launch Star.
Head up, avoiding the walls, using the platform, heading up,
then right, left, wait for the Boos to pass, then up & left.
Long jump towards the end if needed, then up to the neon
purple roof (groovy).
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then follow the red carpet platform
quickly on a diagonal, catching the 1-Up in the middle.
Hug the side furthest from the walls to stay up, head
between the Boos up all the way to a super-fast moving
platform.
Go up & right, fighting against the pull, up & right again,
then up all the way between the Boos, quickly getting off
onto the red carpet (no choice), then go up & left, then
up & jump the gap left, then all the way up. DON'T TAKE
THE PIPE YET!
From the left side, take the green path up, then left to
the Comet Medal, then follow the path back down to the
pipe and take it.
You're now inside a mansion from LM & SMG. Hit the
Checkpoint Flag, then get Yoshi & eat the yellow berry to
follow a temporary path right, then down at the end for a
key. Go up a bit & right, refreshing the berry upstairs,
then go down again for a 1-Up. Retreat back up & right for
another berry, then jump the gaps going right, refresh, then
down through the coins, downstairs to refresh.
Head right & down, then right again to refresh, and jump the
big gap. Head up on the shelves to refresh, then jump up,
floating a bit. Swing on the flower to reach the Star.
#2- Sneaking Down the Creepy Corridor
Change to Luigi if you want from the beginning. Ride the
red carpet forward, carefully controlling your movements
to avoid the Boos. Use the bonus portal in the safe area
if you want, then go past the sign, avoiding the giant Boo
following youuuuu...ha ha, sorry, I couldn't resist! Turn
to face it if you need to stall, but you shouldn't have
much trouble getting to the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then wait at the end for the
moving platform to reach you. Avoid the smaller Boos that
will follow you. Your POV will change so you'll be heading
down towards yourself. Head across the next moving platforms
to the Sling Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, then head up & over the gaps.
Avoid the Boos again and try long jumping to get ahead,
watching for the holes in the floor. This last part is
quite treacherous with the giant Boo about to follow you.
Face him before heading down on the moving platforms,
then DON'T TURN AROUND on them as you'll lose control.
Jump to the green disappearing tiles & nab the Star.
Head right to the Hungry Luma & take it back to the ship.
You'll need 1000 Star Bits, which you may just have now.
Otherwise, revisit some galaxies that are Star Bit-heavy
and you should rack up enough.
The green & yellow blocks will switch off on the 4th clang
of the music's beat. Once you get used to the pattern,
you'll be fine. Head forward, then left, using either set
of blocks to cross.
In the top left corner on a yellow block is the Comet Medal.
Head right & up to the Checkpoint Flag, then long jump across
the next stretch.
Time to collect Silver Stars. (1) is just ahead of you on
a yellow block. Head left to (2) on a purple (safe) block,
then go up into the top left for (3). Head to the top
right for (4) on a yellow block, then down in the bottom
right corner for (5) on a purple (safe) block. The blocks
will freeze in place, so climb them safely to the Star
atop the tower.
A letter will arrive from Jibberjay, the little bird from
the Fluzzard race at Wild Glide Galaxy.
Head back to World 2 & re-enter:
*Wild Glide Galaxy*
#2- Jungle Fluzzard Race
switch the Wiimote to your dominant hand, then approach
any of the little birds, and agree to race. Don't worry
about your placement as you'll come through in the end.
Head forward & nosedive a bit to gain speed. Bank right
after a hulking wall, then straight onwards, diving down
every so often. Head through the left hole in the wall
for a 1-Up. Bank left by the waterfall, then straight
& down over the water to the cavern.
Avoid the icy bar structure, then go straight forward
between the hills through the yellow archway to finish.
Come in 1st to win the Star.
High Score: 1:05.36
A Jibberjay will now join you on the ship. Woop-de-doo!
Head to the beginning of the World 3 map & take the pipe
to reach the dungeon.
Cross over the yellow disappearing platforms quickly and
head right all the way to get Yoshi. Use the tongue
move to grab a Bullet Bill & fire it at the glass barrier
ahead.
Head up & spin at the lever at left to ride the yellow
platform right. The Bullet Bills will follow you, so
fire them away from you, either destroying other
Bullet Bills in the way or the mines surrounding your
path.
At far right, spin at the lever & ride the yellow
platform up, grab a Bullet Bill & smash the next glass
barrier to head through.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag & race by the pairs of Bullet Bills.
Defeat the Hammer Bro, then use a Bullet Bill behind you to
destroy the statue just ahead of you for a 1-Up. Then, swing
left on the flowers. Down from there is where Bullet Bills
are flying. Grab one & destroy the glass globe over the
lever. Spin that & ride the yellow platform up.
A fighter ship barrel towards you. Jump on it, then get
back on the yellow platform as it moves under you. Get
the Life Mushroom on the 2nd ship and stay on it. Defeat
the Hammer Bro, then get the Comet Medal on the left.
Wait until a yellow platform returns under the ship to
ride it.
Use a Bullet Bill to destroy the glass dome ahead, then
hit the Checkpoint Flag. Use the Luma Shop if needed
(though you should still have a Life Mushroom intact).
Use the Launch Star to reach Megahammer.
This one can be quite tough. Grab a Bullet Bill and
fire it at a blue glass dome. You need to fire 2x at
both blue domes. Once they turn black, use the Sling
Star to reach the back with a big blue glass dome.
Use a Bullet Bill to fire at it, jumping over the
pink electric beams.
He will soon turn around, so you'll need to use the
sling star again to reach the back. Once you hit
the back 2x, the 2nd phase begins where you'll be
aiming for the clear glass dome on the top with
Bowser Jr. lurking.
The 2 hammer arms will come slamming down, releasing
major electric beams. Get a Bullet Bill ready, then
jump over 2 slams of electricity, then fire the Bullet
Bill at the dome as he sits idle. 2 hits & you win a
Grand Star. Use the Sling Star to reach it.
A new portal to World 4 opens. On the World Map, ignore
the Hungry Luma, who wants 1200 Star Bits for now since
you likely don't have enough after the last one wiped out
1000, so I'll leave that for the end of this world's walkthrough.
At the beginning is a Hungry Luma, who wants 1200 Star Bits. If you
don't have enough, remember to return here when you can feed him.
Once you feed him, here's where you go:
*Sweet Mystery Galaxy*
#1- Bulb Berry's Mysterious Glow
This galaxy is soooo delicious. Try to control your cravings :oD
Get Yoshi & head across, eating the enemies, and then get the Bulb
Berry to cross to the Checkpoint Flag. Refresh the berry, then
continue, going right & long jumping to the 1-Up if you want, then
backtrack & go up. Head around the bend right & jump right over
the gaps to the Comet Medal, then backtrack & refresh the bulb.
Jump the cakes to the green disappearing tiles & another platform.
Refresh again, then head up & swing on the flowers to refresh.
Head forward some more & refresh, then hit the Checkpoint Flag.
Head up & hit the first blue tile, then up on the green tiles &
left to a 2nd blue tile. Refresh, then up & right to the 3rd blue
tile. Refresh, go right & down on the green tiles to the last
blue tile. Refresh, then eat the enemies & head left to the Launch
Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag & refresh the Bulb Berry. Head up to
the expanded platform and hop up the layers of the cake to the top
where the Star sits.
On the map, head forward to the actual 1st galaxy:
What a great throwback to SMB3's World 4! Everything is super-sized
:oD Change to Luigi if you'd like from the beginning, then head
up to the back. Spin (don't try jumping!) at the Goomba, then long
jump from back to front over the big gap to nab the Comet Medal.
In the back again, wall jump off the big coin & left wall to the
block. Jump to the pipes, the 2nd of which has a Piranha plant
coming up from it. Avoid it by standing on the edge. Same with
the last one, then long jump to the 1-Up.
Dash under the Thwomps & stand between the two in the safe area.
Wall jump between them to get a 1-Up on the roof of the right one.
Jump back down, hit the Checkpoint Flag, then jump off the Thwomp
to reach the Launch Star.
Use the Spin Drill to defeat all 3 Koopas by drilling to knock them
from underneath. Use the new Launch Star, then use the Checkpoint
Flag. Head up & spin at the huge Paragoomba, then go forward,
long jumping at right for a ? coin challenge. Long jump through 4
arches of coins for a 1-Up.
Stand on the edge of the pipes to avoid the Piranha plants, then
go forward and long jump from the 1st yellow disappearing platform
to the back right one. If it disappears, you should land on the
new one below.
Use the Launch Star to subsequently fall into another one & use it
to reach the Checkpoint Flag. A number of Wigglers race in circles.
Long jump straight forward for a 1-Up, then continue until you come
to a break before the red Wigglers speed by. Wait for one to pass
you, then long jump to the pole. Climb it for the Star.
Secret Star #1- In Full Bloom
When you reach the green planet with growing flowers sprouting
under your feet, walk over every square inch of the greenery to
create a variety of flowers. A vine will grow; jump to it & spin
to reach the star.
Pound the left wheel, then hop over the raised platform past the
crates, and pound the bottom wheel. Use the bonus portal at the
right corner if you want, but below it is the Comet Medal. To reach it,
pound the wheel in the middle, then jump to it at the top. Return &
pound the back right wheel. Drop through the hole safely and pound that
wheel to reach a Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then wait for the cannonball to break,
and pound the wheel ahead. Pound the next wheel up when the cannonball
passes over it from above. Get up at left & defeat the enemy. In the
bottom left corner, get the Life Mushroom quickly before the cannonballs
crush you. Head right and stop at the safety nook down from there until
the cannonball at right passes by, then rush to the Launch Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag and pound the back wheel. Head up at right
to a moving platform. Pound the wheel to land on top, avoiding the
red spikes. Jump to the next one & ride it normally. On the right one,
pound it, then go down to the next wheel & pound it when safe to.
Pound the last wheel on the green grass to get up to a new area.
Pound either wheel to reach the Launch Star.
On the Starshroom ship, use the Luma Shop if you want, though you may
still have a Life Mushroom, hit the Checkpoint Flag, then use the Launch
Star to reach a miniboss. To wake it up, walk to the underside of the
planet and pound the wheel under the boss where the starburst symbol is
to jumpstart the fight. The goal is (obviously) to pound a wheel
under the boss when it walks over it. After 2 hits, the boss will be
quicker, shoot fireballs which will limit the number of wheels you can
pound, and can also crawl under the planet, making you work faster to
pound a wheel under it. After 4 hits, you win the Star.
A letter may come from Rosalina at this point with another 50 Star Bits.
Or this could be a random occurence.
#2- Flipsville's New Digs
Get the Spin Drill and drill in the left soil patch, then head up over
the raised platform & right all the way to the last soil patch, drilling
there. Use the bonus portal at right if you want, then drill at the
last soil patch there. Drop down & drill there to reach the roof.
Jump right towards the Toad yelling "Hey!" and drill there for a 1-Up,
then return & use the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, and head around the back side for a Spin Drill.
Drill anywhere to reach the lower level, then drill in a corner of the
tower that hugs the walls to reach the topside of the tower on the upper
level. Now drill in the outer corner (not against the tower) to reach
the peak. Drop a bit left & down to the soil patch & drill to reach the
pipe and use it (of course!).
Now you're in a confusing underground area with constantly changing
gravitational directions & 5 Silver Stars to collect. Drill at the
right wall for (1), then up 2x & right 1x for (2). Drill down for (3),
then go right & down, then right again for (4), and then go up for a 1-
Up. Drill left, then up & right to (5) between the black Fuzzies.
Drill left 2x, then down & right for the star.
Head right & up to the Bee Mushroom. Fly straight up & go right,
sticking on the honeycomb. Navigate right & up to fly to the
platform. Swing right and fly towards the back left, avoiding the
water. Stick to the honeycomb and wait for the geysers to lower
before passing by. Jump & spin at the flower to use it.
Swing to more honeycomb & go up, wait for the enemy to pass, then
fly right. Jump over the bubbles, then (timing it well), fly up
to the upper platform, jumping over more bubbles, and finally to
the highest platform. Keep your Bee skill intact as you can't
jump on the clouds without it. Spin at the pink bulb plant to
create Floaty Fluff.
Jump to a seedling to fly through the balloons to the next area.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then head around left, flying straight
up on the big, harmless purple flower for a Life Mushroom.
Now to seek out 5 Silver Stars. Head into the back left & fly
up, boosting yourself temporarily on the eater plant to reach
(1). Near the geysers just down from there, fly to the right
when they are inactive for (2). Spin at the flower to reach
the higher platform. Head right to the sleeping bee & slide
down the wall to get (3). You will land safely if you fall.
From the last star, wall jump up to get the Comet Medal.
Drop to the bubble launchers & get (4) when they're inactive.
Head up to the swing & use it to reach the Queen Bee. Jump
to her and you'll stick like you did with the honeycomb. Crawl
to her back & you'll find (5). The star will appear at the
initial platform in the front area.
You'll land on a tower and an impossible sphere of water. Dive
down to the Launch Star & use it. Head up & get Yoshi, then
you'll reach the expansive beach. Where are those Silver Stars?!?
Get a Spiny in his mouth and go up the green hill at right,
avoiding the flower enemies, and destroy the glass globe for (1).
Head up to the large statue of a character from SMS. Swing from
the flowers around it to the top & float up to (2).
At right, use the Dash Pepper to walk on water and get (3) at right
against the huge tower in the water. Near the tower, jump on the
round part of a large capsized jug to turn it rightside up (but it's
still tipsy). Jump & spring on the pink top & float up to get (4).
By the pipe (with a ? coin challenge), dive into the hole just down
from it and nab the Comet Medal between the two eels.
In the back left area is another big tower. Use a crab to destroy
the glass globe holding a blue bulb berry. Use it to float to
the top of the tower (use A to float some more) to the roof of
the tower and (5).
The Star appears at the red flowers near the statue.
#2- Climbing the Cloudy Tower
Dive to the Launch Star as you did before and head up into the
similar beach area, but this time, no Yoshi :o( Near the back
left tower is a big hole. Dive down into a tunnel that takes
you into a cave area. Refresh your air supply meter with the
bubbles, then take the next tunnel to reach the Sling Star to
reach an inaccessible area. Pound the red switch to send a
cloud flower out. Use the bubble launcher to reach it.
As Cloud Mario, long jump to the green lily pad. Use the Control
Stick to navigate by leaning Mario against the corner of the raft
to reach the back left tower. Once there, backflip & use all 3
of your clouds, ignoring the other moving clouds to reach the top.
Refresh your clouds, then backflip again to the palm tree for the
Star.
A cloud flower now appears on the ship, which may be helpful to
reach Star Bits & maybe a 1-Up or two.
Golden chomps can only mean one thing: a Power Star. A great
knockoff of SMRPG for SNES. Change to Luigi if you want,
helpful for backflipping over cannonballs.
Head down the ramp and up to the platforms that slowly drop with
your weight. Wait for a cannonball to pass, then backflip over
one for the Comet Medal. At far left, spin the lever to change
the track's direction, then step on the platform to lower it &
allow the cannonball to reach the hole, creating a Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then jump to the blue platform at left,
and, waiting for a gap between cannonballs, jump to the middle
track, and then right to the pipe. 3 Chance Cubes follow. Back
above ground, long jump foward to the Launch Star.
Head left all the way & spin the lever to free cannonballs into
the area. Jump to the green teeter-totter, allowing the cannonball
to roll along, collecting a 1-Up. Once it starts following you,
quickly jump/spin to change it blue to reach the hole & create a
Launch Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint at a new area with a complicated course.
The Golden Cannonball will follow you throughout this entire
thing. At any time, if the Chomp smashes into a barrier,
you'll need to start from the beginning. Head right, then head
all the way up to the start of the course.
Once the Golden One makes its entrance, head right
and lower the platform, allowing it to continue. Let it follow
you to the next platform, letting it get on & moving along ahead
of it to avoid getting crushed. Head around a bend left & pound
the ! switch when the Chomp just lands on the platform that will
be raised. It will come around on its own into the hole & give
you a Star.
A letter arrives from Gearmo, the garbage-collecting robot,
inviting you to get a star at Boulder Bowl Galaxy in World 2...
Head there for:
*Boulder Bowl Galaxy*
Secret Star #1- C'Mere, Goomba
Re-enter Rock & Rollodillo. Head through the level normally
from the regular play walkthrough. On the 3rd planet, just after
knocking out all the pink rock-spouting enemies to reach it, find
the gold robot on the rock strip. Talk to it to reveal 4 candles
around it. You will need to lure a Goomba in-between the box it
creates.
Get a Rock Mushroom and going left from the robot, find a Luma
surrounded by some rock pillars. Slam into them to find a Goomba.
Lure it (without stomping or spinning at it) across the mud (when
it's clear of cannonballs or boulders) and up to the robot to
receive a Star.
A gold Gearmo now appears on your ship. Going slightly right from
where you land, talk to it for a 1-Up.
Return to...
*Chompworks Galaxy*
#2- Spring Into the Chompworks
Starting at the same point from the first star, head down the ramp
and find the new power item, a Spring Mushroom at right. Spring up
the ramp at left to the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and head up the yellow ramp, springing over
the huge cannonballs rolling towards you. Once near the end of
the ramp, spring higher up to the much thinner platform with smaller
cannonballs. Do the same thing to reach above its starting point &
use the Launch Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, and spring up the platforms, then onto
some moving wheels. Do it quickly to avoid losing your momentum,
then off the 2nd rotating nut, jumping as if to a 3rd one to the
Star.
Head right to the milestone hub, and then to the dungeon:
Head up all the way, avoiding the rotating fire bars and defeat
the Magikoopa. You'll come to a double rotating fire bar
platform with a Life Mushroom in the bottom right corner. Head
up & right to the Checkpoint Flag. Immediately right of it,
backflip & spin to the Comet Medal, with or without the support
of the brick block.
Head right to the old school fireballs and head up/right, fighting
gravity to reach the ceiling, then left and along to a water area...
with fire bars?!? Take the ? coin to circle the coins around the
fire bar to get a 1-Up. Head right & out of the water to the 2nd
Checkpoint Flag.
Head down to the wall crusher, backing up immediately to avoid
instant-death. Get the 1-Up on the left side, then head left &
down along the simple path until gravity pulls you in. Spin at the
Goomba as jumping will likely not work. Jump down to reverse the
gravity pull, then quickly race around the firebar to the semi-circle.
Jump to the coins & fight gravity around the wheel, getting the 1-Up
at far left if you want, then use the Launch Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, then spin at the crystal at right for
a Life Mushroom. Pound the golden ball at 3 stone locks to be
pulled through the door.
After Bowser makes a (delayed) appearance, the fight begins. Strategies
are mostly the same as the last fight, only this time there will be electric
beams sent out to jump over (no more than 2). Once again, avoid the light
of a fire attack or meteor crashes, and pound a golden ball to the body.
After 4 hits, you win the Grand Star.
You land on a Pull Star planet. Change to Luigi if you want. Jump & pull
yourself to the next one, then aim a Pull Star above you, and aim to
another one, taking the Launch Star in the middle.
Head down, using the moving platforms, and jumping between electric beams.
Find the platform moving left-right, quickly moving along before they hit
the electricity, and soon you'll see the Comet Medal, which you can long
jump to. From there, long jump to the Launch Star.
On the huge glass planet, head up, jumping the electric beams until you
see the Launch Star below you and a Bob-omb. Wait until one jumps up
and walk down the planet, guiding the Bob-omb below you along the path.
Dart your eyes up & down so you don't walk into any electric fields.
Lead the Bob-omb left a bit, then down, a bit right, then down & far left
to the glass globe that explodes. Drop through the hole & get the Life
Mushroom. Head up the path, avoiding the returning Bob-omb, and use the
Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then head up the holey planet, avoiding the tiny
yellow Topmen and red, spiked Topmen who try to bump you off. Throw or
lure a Bob-omb into the glass globe for a 1-Up, then head up & far left
to the Pull Stars. Use them to head left, avoiding the electric balls &
the launchers that send out more. Head quickly pass the series of launchers
that fire in succession. Once at the circling electric balls, pull yourself
into the Star, avoiding the hazards.
#2- To the Top of Topman's Tower
You arrive back at a Pull Star planet, but the electric balls move much
faster. Head to the second planet & pound the switch to slow everything
down. Jump between the barriers & use the Launch Star.
Fight against the floor moving against you & pound the switch to slow it
all down again, and avoid the bubbles, heading to the lever by the 2nd
launcher. Hit through the opening in the fence, then pound the next
switch, and head into the bottom right lever. Spin that to continue on
and jump on the purple enemy to trampoline to the Sling Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then pound the switch and race under the Thwomp.
Avoid the next enemy that releases an electric field. Wall jump the next
Thwomp & spin to get atop it instead of risking a run under it. Wait for
the spikes to go down, then head left & jump on the green Topman to spring
up to the pipe. A ? coin challenge awaits for a 1-Up. Pound the switch to
slow down.
Jump to the moving platforms, heading up to the next switch. Pound that to
slow it down again, then head to the very top where two red spiked Topmen
appear. Spin them both into the electric field (before they toast you instead!)
and then jump atop the green Topman to reach the Star above you.
Take the pipe on the map & head to the bottom right for:
After automatically taking a pipe, you'll be underground into a constant
gravity-changing level. Head right, then up & land on the right where
strips of different gravity pulls are. Ride the up platforms, then left
to be pulled all the way up. Reach the top of the blocks & backflip/spin
to reach the Life Mushroom. Take the red platforms along, then take the
left red gravity all the way up.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then pound the switch & quickly head up on the
ceiling passing the Paragoombas to the pipe. The gravity changes constantly
between blue/down & red/up. Head along & you'll find the Comet Medal. Stay
on the platform below it in blue/down gravity, then backflip to it avoiding
the electric field behind it. Head right & wait for the gravity to be red/up
to stand on the ? block. Wait for blue/down gravity, then level yourself with
the Star and you'll reach it when it turns to red/up gravity again.
Secret Star #1- Burning Upside Dizzy
Re-enter A Walk on the Weird Side. Near the beginning with the two strips
of different gravity, jump from one to then next & ride the top of the left
platform to reach the pipe. Use the Fire Flower to destroy some crates (NOT
ALL!) near the centre, leaving a step-up crate on the left to reach the red
pipe. Use it to reach the Gearmo garbageman minigame.
You have 20 seconds. Aim for the front with a single fireball, then right.
Aim diagonally for the bottom right set & upwards in the top right. Head
back along left & shoot a single fireball in strips of crates in the bottom
left, then top left. You win the Star.
A Fire Flower is now displayed at the ship's museum. I bet you're tickled
pink by that piece of useless information :oP
This one has some cool effects, like a pop-up book. Let the spotlight
lead you through the dark maze. Head into the bottom right corner to
open the doors. Head up the left path, then right at the fork & up.
Head right (no choice) to the Launch Star.
Head up onto the purple moving platform, avoiding the blue instant-death
swamp below you, and follow it along. Step lightly around the Boos,
spinning if you want to get through them, and hit the Checkpoint Flag
at the safe platform.
Head right along the platform, stepping up to the ? coin. Get all the
musical notes to earn 3 1-Ups. Drop down as the platform moves that way,
then jump right to the next purple platform as the goo rises up popup style.
Follow the ramps & ride the platform, walking down slightly near the Launch
Star for the Comet Medal, then take the Launch Star.
On the crescent moon, collect all 5 Star Chips, standing on the points to
reach the 2 higher ones. Head right off the point to the Launch Star.
Now you're at the actual popup book with 5 Silver Stars. (1) is in the
middle of the area, and (2) is over the red switch. Pound it to get
things started. Wall jump onto the right pillar for (3), then stand near
a pillar so that when the "book" flips you'll reach (4) on the left pillar
and (5) on the middle one. The Star appears on the ground level.
A letter arrives from Gearmo for another star, but first, let's do this one:
Secret Star #1- The Star in the Sinking Swamp
Re-enter Silver Stars Pop-Up. On the purple moving platform that goes
vertical along the goo, follow it to the Launch Star, but instead of
taking it, wait and jump left to another platform very briefly. Jump
left to a 3rd purple platform, which moves very fast. Avoid the Boos
and jump if you need to or deek around them. At the end, you may
need to backflip/spin to reach the Star.
Now head back to Space Storm Galaxy for the Gearmo star:
*Space Storm Galaxy*
Secret Star #1- C'Mere, Topman
Re-enter Follow Me, Bob-omb. Follow the walkthrough for this level
until you reach the holey planet with the Topmen. Head towards the
Pull Stars at the end and head down to a silver Gearmo. Talk to it
and he will ask for a red spiky Topman. You can lure one before talking
to it or head all the way back & have one follow you to the Gearmo. You
will need to use a Bob-omb to blow up the crystal with the 1-Up. Try not
to spin at it as you lure it along (you will probably have to with the tiny
yellow Topmen), and also try to toss the Bob-ombs aside so they don't knock
your red Topman off (or you!). Once in the top left area, spin the red Topman
towards the Gearmo in between the 4 candles.
The silver Gearmo now joins the gold one on the ship just left of where you
land. Talk to it for a 1-Up.
On the map, return to:
*Boo Moon Galaxy*
#2- Haunting the Howling Tower
Change to Luigi at the beginning if you want to. This maze is slightly
different than the last one. Take the doors in the bottom right area to
head up, then go left & left again at the fork to reach a bonus portal.
Head straight up at the fork to the one-way paths, then right to the
dead end with a 1-Up. Heading left from the fork is a Boo portrait.
Head left & left again for another 1-Up. Head around left to the statue,
then come around & up. At the fork, head left through a new set of doors.
Follow the coins all the way to the pipe.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then use the Boo Mushroom ahead to transform into
Boo Mario/Luigi. Pass through the wall ahead by shaking just before touching
it to turn invisible. Take the vent left and head through the wall. Tap with
A to pass the Boo on the left side. Head along the path to the vent going up.
Squeeze by the two Boos, then go left, heading along the top & then the bottom
parts to avoid the spiky enemies. Take the vent up & head through the wall.
Head below right for a 1-Up, then head up right. Wait for the spiked enemies
to part before passing them. Slow down at the vent and take the left side.
Take a perfectly straight course up past the Boos without touching the walls
(that really slows you down). At the top is a circle of Boos. Float
between the gaps to the Star.
A Boo Mushroom is now restly safely at the ship museum.
Head straight forward into the safe, light quicksand that pushes you
along. Time it carefully to pass between the fireballs. The next
area has 3 rings of fireballs on the ongoing quicksand ground. Take
the pipe ahead for a ? coin challenge if you want, then head up through
more fireball rings, gently tilting the Control Sick back & forth to
pass through safely. Take the Launch Star to continue.
Fight against the quicksand and pass the wall pushers all the way up to
a new enemy, a rooster that shoots out bombs. Tread along the S-shaped
walkway and grab the Comet Medal on the safe rock. Head up to get a
Fire Flower, then tread up & light the 2 torches for a 1-Up, plus nab
the cacti enemies. Climb the wall pushers & don't get even the tiniest
bit close to where they meet in the middle or Mario is el-crushido.
Capeche? Climb up the first set, then jump/spin or long jump to the
next set. Head right to the Checkpoint Flag (finally!) and use the
Launch Star.
Ride the sandy slide, being very gentle with the Control Stick to avoid
the smiley-face cylinders rolling behind you. Don't pull it too fast
or you'll overcompensate & fall off. The path thins out considerably
at the end, so let go of the Control Stick & let Mario slide along
naturally to the end. Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, then jump up left.
Past the Launch Star is a Luma Shop if you want/can afford a Life
Mushroom, then use the Launch Star to reach the Squizzard miniboss
fight.
This boss is beyond easy! Step up towards the quicksand hole to
activate the fight. Grab a Fire Flower & avoid the balls he throws
out, then fire into his mouth when he opens it. Fire constantly, then
refresh your firepower & continue the pattern. In a 2nd phase, he
brings out cannons, but they are just as easy to avoid. A pair of
bombs are thrown out, but if you stand between them, you'll be safe.
Continue firing into his mouth & you win the Star.
#2- Sailing the Sandy Seas
Head forward on the moving platforms along the safe quicksand. Get
the Life Mushroom from the 3rd platform on the left side. At the
circular strip of land, use the pipe to reach the gravity-defying
area. Avoid the firebars and head up left, then along the ceiling to
the right steps. Head around to the upper part of where you
originally were and head right, standing on the rotating box to grab
the coins. Take the red pipe to exit. Long jump to the moving
platform, then left to the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then step on the bird made of sandy blocks.
Avoid the instant-death quicksand. Shift to the left wing & avoid the
cacti & Magikoopas. Dash to the right side next, also avoiding the
fireballs being shot out. The speed starts going up steadily. Stay
in the middle, then right, and middle again for several Star Bits.
Stand on the left side next, then right. In a group of 4, stand in
the middle, then stay on the left as the wing is pieced back together,
and similarly on the tip of the right side.
Now comes the Silver Chomp. I would avoid it all together and shift
to safe areas of the bird, allowing the Chomp to roll along your path,
then jump to the repaired parts of the sandy bird to survive. Long
jump to the Star on the safe platform when you get near it.
On the map, head to the Hungry Luma & feed it 1500 Star Bits to access
its galaxy:
*Fleet Glide Galaxy*
#1- Fluzzard's Wild Battlefield Guide
Fluzzard's back! Switch the Wiimote to your dominant hand (i.e. right
hand if right-handed; left hand if left-handed). Passing all 5 red
archways will release the Comet Medal, so I'll include how to do that.
Head slightly right to avoid the lava monster, then straight on a
nosedive through the 1st red archway. Stay at left through the blue
hole for a 1-Up and tilt left about 90 degrees to the left through the
string of Star Bits all the way through the 2nd red archway. Tilt left
about another 90 degrees to head through the tunnel ahead, avoiding the
poles.
Pass the bats & Banzai Bills, then under the Thwomps at the end through
the 3rd red archway. Head down and slightly left through the 4th
archway. Avoid the debris as you head straight down the middle on a
nosedive through the 5th & last archway to release the Comet Medal.
Head under the door before it lowers and closes on you.
Head left just before the first airship and glide gently into it to
avoid passing it (!) and then straight through the big yellow archway
to win the Star.
A letter comes in from Jibberjay for a race back at Fleet Glide, so
re-enter it for:
#2- Fastest Feathers in the Galaxy
This time you'll be racing against a black Jibberjay through the
course. Talk to it to start. Use the same strategies as your earlier
runthrough of the course. Don't worry about your place in the race
until you get the momentum going. As long as you nosedive in the wide
open areas safely, you'll be fine. Head through the big yellow archway
first to win the Star.
Fun miniboss coming up! The ground is mostly lava, suggesting ice is
on its way. Switch to Luigi if you want, then quickly make haste over
the sinking platforms to the stone. Jump on the yellow platform to
start moving along. If you want, long jump to the platforms at right
for a cloud flower and use it to get back on the moving yellow
platform. Jump over the electric beams being shot out and refresh the
cloud flower ahead.
Long jump, using the clouds, to reach the red switch & pound it to
freeze the lava. Be cautious if you decide to skate up, jumping the
electric beams and long jump to the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and approach the rotating rocks along the
lava. Long jump forward, then jump carefully on the different patterns
(speed & size) of rocks. Spin a green coconut at the chest for a 1-Up.
Ahead is the Comet Medal atop a rock. Long jump carefully to it, then </pre><pre id="faqspan-3">
directly in front of it is a Launch Star. Head carefully along the
ice, jumping the lava pools that are formed by falling meteors. Head
up & slightly left to the corner where a Life Mushroom is encased in a
crystal. Spin at it to get it, then jump to avoid skating off the
edge.
Head up to find a series of Octorok enemies spouting fireballs and
occasionally green coconuts. Spin those to defeat them all, then head
across the new lava path where ice platforms fall & form a safe path
across it. Head across them quickly before they melt & take the
Launch Star.
On the Starshroom ship, use the Luma Shop (though you may still have
the Life Mushroom intact), then hit the Checkpoint Flag & Launch Star
to reach Prince Pikante. Skate around the arena to avoid the Zamboni
it rides. Fireballs shot out form lava pools on the ice. Spin at any
green coconuts he releases to hit it. After 2 hits, he goes along much
faster & melees of attack items. Continuously skate around & avoid him
(he's not good at following you) and after 3 hits, you win the Star.
Secret Star #1- The Chimp's Ultimate Skating Challenge
Behind the Launch Star at the end of the first area, use the pipe to
reach a Chimp challenge. Play his ice skating whack-a-mole game, which
has the same rules but different patterns of enemies than last time.
You need to reach 600 points or more to win the Star. You don't lose
any lives for underscoring, so keep trying--it's fun :oD
A letter from Rosalina with 50 Star Bits may arrive around this time.
When you arrive, head forward to where a Toad lies to you (why, Toad,
why?) and head foward, long jumping over the mud & up to the glass dome
atop the machine. Step out of the way at the last second to break it
open with the following Bullet Bill. Aim with the Wiimote & fire at
the target (a bullseye hit gives you a 1-Up). Defeat the 2 Boomerang
Bros., then climb the top left pole for a Life Mushroom, and use the
Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then hop into the cannon. Fire at the target
between the circling mines at the bottom part of the distant planet.
Head up the red platforms, then to the much faster blue ones. Jump
over pairs of mines & find the Comet Medal. Get the cloud flower, and
use it to reach the area further up. Pound the stack of stones
circled by the mines, then use the Launch Star to reach the Boomsday
machine boss fight.
The arena is nice & big, but you are still at risk for falling off the
edge or getting run over by the huge tank the machine rides. Also
avoid its spouting electric balls & the rotating firebars. Get a Cloud
Flower and use it over a vent. Ride it up, avoiding the electric balls
being released, and long jump about 2 times to reach the dome. Pound
it for a hit. Now the entire machine can get electrified (turns mostly
yellow), so obviously don't pound the dome when it's like that. When
you use the vent & the machine lights up, the vent's direction will
reverse.
After 2 hits, the tank will move around constantly. You will need to
refresh your cloud flower about 2 times as you move towards it. Use
the vent, then get on a stationary cloud to refresh. Long jump & use
a cloud to get closer to the machine's dome. Pound the dome just 1
more time & you win the Grand Star.
Change to Luigi at the beginning if you want. Head right & up, using a
Pull Star to continue, using the next few at left. Pause in-between the
lava monsters that appear. In the lower left is a Life Mushroom, which
you can grab safely by swinging through the Pull Stars fast, floating
into it, then taking a Pull Star to bring you up. Head up past two lava
monsters and do it fast to float into the Launch Star at the top, then
use the one in mid-air.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and head along the platforms that get splashed
by lava that flows from the top part of the area. Climb the pole and
refresh the Life Mushroom atop the one at left. Jump along the poles,
turning so your back faces each one. Head left & up to the right. At
the far right, use the rotating platform quickly, then jump to the next
one further up. Head left past the lava monster and along more rotating
platforms to the 2nd Checkpoint Flag.
Spin in the tornado to be launched and fly up to the next one up, then
use another at right. If you need to stop in mid-flight to reach one,
use Z to ground pound into one (but make sure you're precise!). Swing
to the Launch Star to reach a series of tiny plants being overrun with
lava monsters. Wait until one passes before heading along them. Each
one's gravity will pull you in as you jump to it. Long jump to a planet
in back to the Comet Medal. At left, spin the crystal 2x to free the
Star. You'll need to hop a little further back & left to reach it.
A luma with two Chance Cubes will appear on the ship in the area
accesssed by the pipe at the ship's left "ear."
Secret Star #1- The Chimp's Bowling Challenge
Re-enter The Magnificent Magma Sea. Head right & up, but instead of
using a Pull Star, drop straight ahead to the pipe and use it to enter
a Chimp's challenge.
Alternatively, re-enter A Stroll Down Rolling Lane (#2) and drop off at
left to the pipe.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag, then talk to him to play a rock mushroom
bowling game. Your goal is 5000 points and you have no time limit.
Each pin is worth 100 points. Here's a guide for the courses:
1- Roll straight through for a perfect strike
2- Roll left, then right, using the Control Stick to tilt into the pins
3- Roll straight between the green bulbs to avoid being bounced off
them
4- Stand on the step up, roll straight through & jump the gap
5- Wait until the moving platforms line up straight & roll through
6- Wait until the tilted platform is JUST ABOUT level to roll straight
7- Wait until the axe blade-shaped platform is vertically aligned with
you & roll straight through
8- Wait for the 360-degree rotating platform to JUST ABOUT level with
the pins on the up side (of course!)
9- Wait for the faster-moving axe blade-shaped platform to vertically
align with you & roll straight through
High Score: 510 points
#2- A Stroll Down Rolling Lane
Head straight up the steps to a rock mushroom. Roll straight onto the
ramp to use the Launch Star. Hit the Checkpoint Flag and roll/jump
onto the upright bridge to make it fall. Roll up onto the ramp into an
ongoing course:
Head straight and slightly left; jump over the centre hole for a 1-Up,
then straight; go a little right, then diagonally right, and diagonally
left; jump a gap, head either right (with a jump) or left (with an
Octorok) (NOT THE MIDDLE--the hole is too big to jump), then 5 jumps in
a row; hit the centre of the small rope barrier, then you'll
automatically "boing" down into the centre of the rope barrier. Align
yourself right, then jump the gap into a rope-bordered arena. DON'T
JUMP! Roll into the Star in the middle.
Talk to the Hungry Luma and feed it 1800 Star Bits to enter:
Your path will be blacked out most of the time, so take advantage of
the flashing light. Head up the waving path & steps to the purple
carpeted area. Get Yoshi and head right, using the blue blimp fruit to
reach the platform at far left. Refresh the blimp & head straight up,
then right, avoiding the mines. Refresh again & go up, dropping off at
left to refresh yet again. In the top left corner is the Comet Medal.
At the slide, jump over it to the right and use the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and head left for (1) Silver Star. Now for the
other 4. Backtrack a little and head around the path right, then
around to the left middle area for (2). Hop along the broken platforms
and find a 1-Up in a crystal. Head up and right, going up a little
along the yellow moving platform for (3). Backtrack & head left,
jumping the gap for (5). Jump forward and around right, jumping over
a small gap for the Star.
Change to Luigi if you want. Backflip on the ledges at left, taking
the pipe at the top. Use the 3 Koopa shells to break open any chests
you want for random prizes. Return back and head straight up into a
watery slide, then dive & swim, using the Koopa Shell to speed up.
Head up and through a hole in the left wall to get the Comet Medal.
Collect coins to keep your air supply meter full. Head up some more
and shine your shell's light at the pods' heads to get by them.
Dodge the spiky balls ahead and try not to lose your shell as that
will slow you down considerably. Refresh it if you do to continue
along quickly. Swim right through the brick wall and down under the
eels. Make sure you get the single coin ahead as you'll probably
need it badly! Drop below the Launch Star and get a 1-Up at left,
then use the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and long jump straight ahead for a 1-Up.
Drop down into the next watery area. Dive & swim down, grabbing the
Koopa Shell. Swim through the ring, then right to the next one that
will boost your speed. Take the next one in the lower middle, then
the next two straight ahead. Dip down a bit and down to avoid the
wall. Avoid the spiky balls, and you'll surface on a grassy cliff
overlooking an ocean. Use the shell (or get a new one at left if you
lost it) and smash open the chest to free a Toad who gives you the
Star.
Change to Luigi if you want, then head up & right onto a rotating
clock mechanism. Be careful to stay on the level parts as it turns
around. Head right to a safe grassy platform. The next mechanism has
a platform below it so if you fall, you should land safely. Just
climb the pole to jump to a platform and ride it around. Head right
to another grassy platform, then onto the biggest mechanism yet. Ride
the topmost part to access the Launch Star.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and head right into a door-shaped hole. Wait
for the blue wall to retreat back, then head right and stand in front
of the lamp. Wait again, then backflip to the top of the wall, and
left to the stationary piece. Head left to a similar part and keep
going left to the green arrow. Spin at it to destroy most of the
background and chagne gravity so you're walking on the back wall.
Carefully walk all the way right to the lamp from earlier, then walk
on the blue part. Wait for it to rise up to reach a pumpkin Goomba
enemy. Head left from there to the red switch. Pound it to release
the trapped Luma. Head left and around the border of the area. Fall
right into the cove where the Luma sits, talk to it, and use its
Launch Star.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag. Walk up the incline, standing in the
odd-shaped holes of the giant spheres rolling down. A 1-Up sits in
the upper hole in the wall. Head up to the cracks in the ground &
climb onto a rolling sphere, riding it back left to nab the Comet
Medal. Head right to the grassy area and wait for the spikes to
retract before crossing them. Same with the spikes on the walls
above. Wall jump up, then jump to the nails above one at a time to
the top and right. Pound the red starburst and head right to a
rotating circular platform with pieces of wall. Wall jump when the
circle stops spinning, then stay level as it turns again and wall
jump to the top. The pipe at back offers a ? coin challenge if you
want it.
Head right and over the crates, then stand on the back platform that
will rise. Pound the red switch to change the wall and release the
odd circle-shaped platforms on a roll. Jump into one and ride it
along, staying on top at all times, to the end and jump to the
nails to reach the Star.
Secret Star #1- The Ledge Hammer Trap
Collect 30 coins from the enemies and on the mechanisms you ride.
You can spin at the lit torches at the beginning for 2 and spin at
the pumpkin Goombas, then stomp them for a coin from each. Find
the Hungry Luma on the 2nd safe grassy platform with a trampoline.
Feed it 30 coins to take its Launch Star and hit the Checkpoint
Flag.
Fight against the pull of the thin rotating platform. Pass by the
first crusher and pound the ! switch to slow it all down. Pass
the next crusher and pound the next switch to repeat the process
until you reach the pipe at the far right.
Fight against the rotating platform the opposite way, pausing in-
between the crushers coming up this time all the way left to the
Star.
A letter comes from the Chimp, inviting you to a game back in
World 4, so return there to:
*Honeyhop Galaxy*
#2- The Chimp's Score Challenge
Talk to the Chimp and agree to play. The game is similar to an
earlier game of stomping the Octoroks. You have 2 minutes to earn
at least 10 000 points. Try to jump as many enemies as you can in
a row to rack up points & collect the coins they leave behind.
Head up to the left and use the Sling Star, then the flower,
stomping 4 in a row. Long jump left (when the bubble launchers
are not activated) into a watery area. Use the Sling Star, then
to the swing to end up in the most active area. Hit the ? coin
for 1000 points and more coins. Two big circles of Octoroks
offer opportunity for lots of points, and then there are a few in
back atop some platforms. If you get less than 10 000 points,
you will lose a life each time that happens, otherwise you win
the Star. I skipped over some parts of this area because they're
not worth exploring in the time limit given. Avoid walking on
water as it will slow you down like mud in other areas.
What a cool retro level from SM64 (down to the cool music)! Change to
Luigi if you want, then head right on the grass and around the ramp to
a Chance Cube and bonus portal. Use those if you wish, then climb the
ramp with coins to the wall pusher. Pass it and cross the platforms
moving in & out of the wall. Deek safely under the Thwomp and up to a
2nd Thwomp with a 1-Up atop it. Head left along the platforms that
disappear under you and follow the thin board to a rotating wooden
platform.
Head over left to the Wiggler and climb the pole for a 1-Up atop it.
Just below you, drop off the ledge and curve your drop into the
platform below. Climb the pole down for the Comet Medal. Return
back to the upper level via a ramp. Spin the 2 crates by the pink
Bob-omb & follow the musical notes for 3 1-Ups. Now head all the way
around left to a giant Piranha, which you can bypass or defeat by
jumping on it after it slams down. Jump the platforms that rotate as
they rise/lower on a track. Jump up to the Checkpoint Flag to find a
wall crusher. Lure it to slam down & pound its back. Drop through
the centre hole to meet the Whomp King, your next miniboss.
Avoid its red shadow and jump when it slams to not be frozen by its
vibration. Pound the cracked star on its back and continue the
pattern. Don't worry about the tiny wall crushers it releases that
aren't instant-death. After 3 hits, you win the star.
A pink Bob-omb joins you on the ship but offers nothing...bah :oP
#2- Silver Stars in the Whomp Fortress
Head up the ramp ahead to find (1). At the moving platforms, get
the cloud flower and drop below the 2nd platform to get (2) and use
a cloud to save yourself. Wait until it's clear to reach the upper
side. Pass the Thwomp and stand atop the crates, then long jump
towards the stationary clouds with (3) and a cloud flower to refresh.
Long jump further back to the main area and around to two crates that
reveal a Sling Star. Backflip in that area & use 1-2 clouds to reach
a row of clouds. Long jump to (4) in between two rows of clouds.
Head to the top of the fortress around the left side with the Piranha
and rotating platforms to refresh your clouds on top & backflip,
using about 2 clouds to reach the last star (5) atop the Bowser image
on the ground. The Star will appear here.
You have a bunch of smaller planets to run through. Defeat the Goomba
to start and use the Sling Star. Spin at the fiery rocks and long jump
over a lava hole in the lower right side, then take the new Sling Star.
Use the Fire Flower to destroy the 3 spiked balls, then use the Sling
Star and fire at the crabs. Find a 1-Up on the sandy planet and use
the Sling Star to reach the Starshroom ship. Hit the Checkpoint Flag
on the bottom & use the Sling Star.
Spin at the pumpkin Goombas, then stomp/spin each one to get a key that
frees a pipe on top. Use it and swim down to the Koopa shell at the
bottom. The light coming from it will defeat each Boo, so just aim at
each one, then use the Sling Star to return back, and then use the
Sling Star at the bottom. Use the Luma Shop if you want at the bottom
side, then use the 2nd Checkpoint Flag and the Sling Star on top.
On the icy planet, spin into the icy rocks, then use the Sling Star.
Pound the ground near the Monty Moles, then stomp/spin each one. Use
the key to reach the pipe. Defeat the 3 enemies when their spikes are
facing down. 1 is safe to stomp in blue/down gravity & 2 in red/up
gravity. Once finished, wait for red/up gravity to reach the pipe,
then use the Sling Star on the opposite side.
Spin at the green bulbs to knock out each Silver Chomp (believe it or
not!?!) and use the key to release the Star.
Secret Star #1- Snacktime For Gobblegut
Re-enter Mini-Planet Mega-Run and collect at least 20 coins from the
enemies and a few lying around. On the icy planet just after the 2nd
Checkpoint Flag, feed the Hungry Luma at left 30 coins to use its
Launch Star. You'll reach a new version of the miniboss Gobblegut.
Use the same strategies to fight it as earlier, but this time, you
can't touch an inch of the dragon as it's entirely on fire! Watch out
for the lava pools that appear on the planet after the 2nd phase. You
win the Star for defeating it...again.
Head right to approach Bowser's castle, the final dungeon. Watch the
cinema, then continue on to the last dungeon.
Head to the far left to the pole & climb it for a Life Mushroom at the
top. Backtrack a bit and head up, timing your jumps between the
fireballs & rotating firebars. Use the Luma's Launch Star, then defeat
the 3 Hammer Brothers. Spin at the Floaty Fluff ahead and ride a
seedling over the lava, avoiding the fireballs being shot out. Spin to
gain altitude (a max. of 3 times). Drop at the end to the platform and
grab the Spin Drill, then drill in the soil patch.
Head up & hit the Checkpoint Flag. Wait for the Banzai Bill to pass,
then deek to the left to avoid it. Head up & quickly drill before it
returns, then head right, avoiding the next one and stand in the left
corner of the fence. Deek left to avoid the next one, then on the right
side. Drill there to get a 1-Up, then return & drill at the spot in
front of the chute. Use the Launch Star to continue.
Hit the 2nd Checkpoint Flag and wait for the moving platform to arise
from the lava. Jump right between the fireballs to reach the cloud
flower. Drop at right to get the Life Mushroom and use a cloud to
save yourself. Refresh, then backflip & use clouds, avoiding the
Bullet Bills. Refresh, then get the ? coin, dropping into a row of
coins and then use a cloud to ride the vent's wind right. Refresh
again & head up more, refreshing again between the Bullet Bills.
Backflip & use a cloud all the way, then refresh again & head up left
to the Luma. Use its Launch Star to move on.
Hit the 3rd Checkpoint Flag and head up the bridge, defeating the
Magikoopa. Head right on the tipsy platform and get Yoshi. Backtrack
left and use the swinging flowers. Head left, swinging quickly over
the lava where plumes emerge, then . The 1-Up in back is probably not
worth it, but if you defeat the Hammer Bro and swing left to it, it's
yours. Head left & defeat the 2 Boomerang Bros. to open the doors
ahead. If you lose Yoshi, get it again at left in the nest.
Use the Dash Pepper and head right, then left, avoiding the towers,
then straight, slightly left, and back into the middle. Use the Sling
Star, then ride the purple platform ahead getting the Life Mushroom,
then head right over the lava & firebars. Jump/float left, then back
right to avoid the lava monsters. Swing on the flowers to get the
Comet Medal, then jump/float back onto the purple platform. Wait for
the lava monster to apppear, then use the blimp fruit to float around
it and get back on the purple platform. Ride straight up to the last
Checkpoint Flag.
Dismount Yoshi (if you still have him) and climb the pole up. A Life
Mushroom sits at left if you need to refresh (it will be a 1-Up if you
have a 6). Pound the golden ball 3x to break the stone locks and be
pulled through the door to the Bowser fight.
The fight is mostly the same as previous ones. Avoid the light from
his fist and the electric beams that are released, as well as the
meteors that fall. Pound a golden ball, aiming for Bowser (anywhere
but his spiked shell) for a hit. In the 2nd phase, avoid his fiery
breath and all other tactics from earlier. After 4 hits, you get the
Grand St....WHA?!?! Sorry, one more twist. In outer space, you'll
float onto golden balls and need to pound them at Bowser when he is
not curled into a spiky ball. Aim carefully, because if you miss, he
will lurk closer to you and try to punch you. After 3 hits, you'll
win the Grand Star (grabbing it after Peach rides in on it) and have
finished the 1st run-through of the game. Congrats :o)
Watch the end cinema and credits. DO NOT TURN OFF THE GAME! During
the credits, you can move around, collecting Star Bits & coins, and
ride Yoshi. It's all for fun to pass the time as the credits roll by.
Your progress will be saved and World S is revealed. Don't worry...
the game is far from finished!
Re-open your game file and you will return to your ship. You now have
the ability to switch to Luigi or back to Mario again via the door
under the back part of the ship. Just head through the green L door
to switch, and through the red M door to switch back.
You'll need to do the Prankster Comet at Bowser's Galaxy Generator.
Also, a letter will come from the Chimp to return to World 6 to do:
*Slimy Spring Galaxy*
#1- The Chimp's Coin Challenge
Talk to the Chimp to start. You have 3 minutes to get at least 10 000
points. Each coin is worth 100 points and every hit on an enemy is
also 100 points. Use the water slide ahead for some coins, and then
dive & swim along. Use the Koopa Shell to increase your speed,
grabbing the coins in bubbles. Aim your light at the pods for 100
points a piece but no coins. Avoid the spiky balls ahead and get more
coins. Swim through the brick wall and under the eels to the Launch
Star. Long jump to the coin and stomp the Paragoomba (if you can),
dropping through a column of coins. Dive & swim along, shining your
light at the Boos. Be sure to collect its coin for a max. of 200
points each. Try shining the light at the ones ahead of you, then
swim into their coins. Pass the spiky balls and get more coins in
bubbles, then you'll reach the grassy cliff area. There are a couple
of small coin groups that can help top off your points, but you should
have 10 000 by now. You win the Star for hitting at least 10 000
points.
High Score: 11 720 points
Around this time, you may get 50 Star Bits in a letter from Rosalina.
Access the World Map and head right past World 6 to World S.
This area is on a model of Mario made up of lava, green disappearing
tiles, yellow platforms, and blue ? tiles to change to yellow ! ones.
Long jump to the right side and activate those, then head into the
middle right area where a 1-Up is found. Avoid the fiery rock and
laser-shooting enemies. Head along to the top left corner for more
tiles, then come down the left side to come along towards the start.
Hope you don't need to backtrack :oD Once you activate the last blue
tile, the Star will appear back at the first platform. Return there
for the Star.
The name & track is taken from the Mario Kart series. Switch the
Wiimote to your dominant hand, then jump on the rollerball and roll
along the fenced platforms to the automatic track. Roll forward
through a long line of coins on the rainbow track. Jump over the Bob-
ombs ahead and at the fork, go right. Roll straight down the middle,
slightly tilting the Control Stick to get around the towers and get
the Comet Medal in the middle near the end of this track.
It's really hard to slow down at this point as the track goes downhill.
Head straight along the next track, which curves to the right, so hug
the left side as much as you can. If you get too close to the edge,
jump left to get back into the middle. Tip slightly right, then
slightly left to avoid the holes and you'll get into a safe fenced-in
platform. Get on the automatic track and you'll land in the hole,
freeing the Star, which you can collect there.
Probably the easiest star you'll earn this game since World 1! You'll
notice the background shows features from SMB for NES. Jump to the large
spinning platforms and avoid the small pieces that jut out of them that
can knock you for a loop. Get the cloud flower ahead which is good
insurance. At the next stationary platform, wall jump for a 1-Up. The
Comet Medal sits on a spinning platform and you just need to jump/spin for
it. A good rule of thumb is if the platform is halfway to leveling out
another side of the shape, you should jump to the upside. Hope that makes
sense. Head straight ahead to the Star on the last stationary platform.
Everything moves fast in this level. Head straight up and get (1) on the
block with an Octorok. Backtrack to where you initially landed and long
jump to the ! switch behind you. Pound it, then long jump to the other
side of the Thwomp. Get (2) on the track, then stand safely behind the
Thwomp.
Long jump right to the ! switch and pound it to slow everything down.
Ride a pink platform nearby and long jump back to the previous one. Jump
to the left thin rectangular block and at the far left, jump VERY lightly
to get the Comet Medal and stay atop it. You may want to backtrack &
pound the ! switch to slow things down again.
Head right across the moving platforms to a safe spot on the other side
with a 1-Up. Wait for the Tox Box to pass by, then head straight along
the walkway to (3). Deek into a safe spot at left and once the Tox Box
passes by again, head right to a safe spot. Two squares right of there is
safe to stand. Head right and long jump to a green disappearing tile,
then down & right to the lower square with (4), which is also safe to
stand on (alternatively, you can long jump up to the ! switch & pound it
to slow things down first). Head right and long jump over the fast-moving
rectangular platforms to (5) and you get the Star there.
You'll be fighting a few mini-bosses from SMG. First is the Piranha. Spin
the ball on the tail to break the egg, and then keep heading around to its
back, spinning the ball 3 more times to win. Use the Sling Star to continue.
On the next planet, safely head to the underside to find a Life Mushroom.
Backflip & spin in the same spot for the Comet Medal. On the upside, you'll
fight King Kaliente. Avoid the fireballs and spin at the green coconut at him
for a hit. The next two times, you'll need to bop it back at him once, and
then twice, avoiding the icy rocks. Use the Sling Star.
Now to fight a big Monty Mole. Wait for the mole to arise, then ground pound
and spin at him to initiate the fight. As he chases you, wait for him to arise
again, ground pound, then chase after him & spin at him. After 2 hits, a 2nd
phase starts where he moves much faster. Ground pound when he pokes his head
up, then wait as he gets a second wind and charges at you. When he's close
enough without mowing you down, pound again, then chase after him & spin to
win. Use the Sling Star to continue.
Hit the Checkpoint Flag and use the Luma Shop if you need to refresh your Life
Mushroom (or use the coins on the stairs). Step onto the arena to fight
Bouldergeist. Circle around him and avoid the rocks that he throws out. Gold
ones give coins and black ones give Bomb Boos. Spin at 1-2 that are released
and run up to Bouldergeist to hit it.After 2 hits, he morphs into a ghost head
(!). Use a Bomb Boo on it to enter the 2nd phase where he grows hands. Watch
out for the punches and the rows of rocky pillars. Also, the hands can slam
down, but this is where you can attack with Bomb Boos as the body isn't
protected. 2 hits to each hand will temporarily down them, but they will
return after a short minute or so. After 2 hits on Bouldergeist, he will
morph again into a ghost head. One Bomb Boo hit and he's toast. Use the
Launch Star, then the next one on a purple planet.
This time, the Piranha is on fire. Spin at the ball of the tail to get things
started. Avoid the fire (obviously), watching the pattern so you can time your
spin attack well. After 2 hits, a 2nd phase starts where he throws around
fireballs as well. You'll win the Star after defeating this last boss.
A green Luma joins your shipmates but doesn't tell you much. The Green Stars
will be available soon.
Head up on the map to the Hungry Luma who wants 2000 Star Bits. Feed it and
you'll access the hidden galaxy below.
This galaxy will likely drive you nuts. If not now, at least when you get to
the Prankster Comet for this one, you will :oD Head up the stairs and spin to
retract the wall. You can see they alternate between red & blue, like the
Flip-Spin Galaxy. You can practice your wall jumping skills with spinning to
activate the walls to access the top of the walls and a 1-Up at far right.
Head right & use the pipe.
Spin for blue steps, then jump/spin to the red steps. Jump/spin & wall jump
off the blue steps. Wall jump off the brick wall, jump/spin to the red step,
then a blue step. Jump/spin to a red step, then jump left & spin to blue
boxed-in walls. Wall jump to safe platforms and a Checkpoint Flag at the end.
Spin & backflip onto the blue step, jump the enemy to a red step, and then to
a 2nd one. Backflip/spin onto a blue step above and jump the next enemy.
Long jump (WITHOUT SPINNING) to the blue steps. Wait for the spikes to
retract, then jump/spin to a red step, repeating the process for the next set
of spikes & a blue step. Backflip when the spikes are down then spin to
retract the blue wall, and wall jump left, spinning to reach the blue wall.
Wall jump up to the 2nd Checkpoint Flag.
Head up the steps and wait for the spikes to retract, spinning to allow the
blue walls to form. Wall jump up the first boxed-in set of walls for a 1-Up,
then long jump several times right to safety past sets of spikes. You can
long jump between the 2nd set of boxed-in walls if the spikes are rising.
At the end of that debacle, spin for the blue wall at right to appear, then
wall jump off the brick wall back & forth, spinning for a red wall, then up
to the platform at top left. Long jump left & spin to land on top of a blue
wall, then long jump left (WITHOUT SPINNING) for the Comet Medal. Head back
right to where you were. Jump right (WITHOUT SPINNING) to the red wall, then
wall jump/spin, then manuever far right between two red walls. Wall jump
between them, then spin to reveal a blue wall at right further up. Keep wall
jumping to reach the top and spin the crystal 2x for the Star.
A second Green Luma will appear on the ship. No biggie...
At this point, all worlds on the map should have a silver crown and you
should have 120 Power Stars. Return to World 6 and re-enter Bowser's
Galaxy Generator (the first level, Bowser's Fortified Fortress). Run
through the entire level again and defeat Bowser again. Use the same
walkthrough as earlier.
Watch the end cinemas & credits. DO NOT TURN OFF THE GAME! At the
end, Rosalina will begin to tell a story about the Green Cosmic Jewels
(stars). Re-open your game file and upon entering the world map, the green
star prankster comets will appear at EVERY SINGLE GALAXY you've been to. Man
oh man...So, here follows short walkthroughs for each green star.
I will give a short walkthrough for each Green Star (e.g. from the 1st
Checkpoint Flag, go...), then how to get from the 1st Green Star to the 2nd,
and from there, to the 3rd. Hope that makes sense. If you're unsure where
you're going, refer to the earlier walkthrough for the level.
I will write the Green Stars in chronological order, even though you can pick
them up at any time (e.g. you can get the 2nd star even if you entered Green
Star 1).
Wall jump off the middle tower on the right side past the sign and spin.
Green Star 2
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, at the top of the tower left of the bonus
portal with the disappearing yellow platforms, DO NOT use the Launch Star.
Stand in the right back corner and jump off the edge of the tower.
Green Star 3
In the glass planet, at the bonus portal on the right side, backflip over it
and wall jump off the right wall, then spin.
*Yoshi Star Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Atop the green hill in the first area where the Comet Medal sat. Use Yoshi
to jump/float,then dismount for extra height.
Green Star 2
Right of the first Launch Star, jump/float to the cave in the stone wall.
Green Star 3
Where the crystalized Power Star was, swing on the flowers to the highest one
at left to jump/float & dismount to reach it.
*Flip Swap Galaxy*
Green Star 1
From the next safe platform, take a running start and time a triple jump on
the red platforms ahead, between the electric fields, WITHOUT SPINNING. If
you miss, bear left to (hopefully) land on a blue platform.
Green Star 2
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, at the second set of Chomps rolling on the
platforms, come to the red & blue side-by-side. Wait for the Chomp to start
rolling along the blue platform and jump/spin to the red. Triple jump from
left to right to reach the Star above where the Chomp starts rolling on the
red platform. If you miss, spin in midair and bear left onto the blue
platform. Unless you hit a Chomp, you'll likely survive if you miss.
*Spin Dig Galaxy*
Green Star 1
On the 2nd planet with the tall towers side-by-side, backflip onto the
fence bordering the overside & underside of the planet. Straight down in
the foreground from the left tower, stand on the edge of the fence, then
backflip & spin for it.
Green Star 2
On the next planet after Green Star 1, head to the left side with the
yellow disappearing platforms. DO NOT USE THE LAUNCH STAR! Triple jump
by hopping to the 1st yellow block, then the 3rd, and aim your last jump in
the back right corner of the 3rd platform. Spin for good measure to nab
the Star.
Green Star 3
Once underground, drill on the right side. Walk into the drill enemy to
lose the drill and 1 health point. Pound the enemy and DO NOT GET THE
DRILL BACK. Wall jump off the left side, then right & spin for the Star.
Fluffy Bluff Galaxy
Green Star 1
At the beginning, get a cloud flower and return to the first platform you
landed on. On the shadow on the ground, backflip & use clouds to reach
the Star high above it.
Green Star 2
Grab a cloud flower & use the back left stationary clouds to the 1st
Checkpoint Flag. With 3 clouds, long jump parallel to the wall at left,
using clouds to stay alive and reach the Star.
Green Star 3
At the spot where you find the missing Toad, use a cloud flower to reach
a tall green hill adjacent to the cliff where the monkey sits.
*Rightside Down Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At a green platform that flips you to normal gravity just after the 2nd
Checkpoint Flag, backflip & spin towards the Star in the corner between
the platform & the gravity pulling area.
Green Star 2
Pass the Thwomps and backflip/spin to get atop the last upside-down one.
Backflip/spin right to the Toad, then backflip upside down & wall jump
off the right wall to get the Star.
*Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla*
Green Star 1
Backflip & spin to get atop the Thwomp at the beginning, then long jump/
spin atop the castle. Head along the left side's rim to the back tower
for the Star.
Green Star 2
This can be risky. Get the Life Mushroom and just before the Launch
Star, long jump to the Star over the lava. If you miss, hotfoot on the
lava to reach it. At least you'll have 6 health points instead of the
usual 3.
On the first platform, use the trampoline and pound on the right edge that
isn't on the shadow. Spin in midair and wall jump off the ? block, then spin
to get atop it. Backflip & spin from there to reach the Star high above it.
If you break open the ? block, you'll need to restart.
Green Star 2
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, get up to the diagonal cut being made by a saw
blade. Long jump to the shadow on the ground, then immediately turn your back
to the upright wall about to be cut down. Quickly backflip, then wall jump &
spin to get the Star. If the wall falls away, you'll need to restart.
Green Star 3
Past the two upright walls, stand on a red platform as it's cut down on the
upper end and jump to the Star as it slowly falls into space.
*Boulder Bowl Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the upright wall, DO NOT KNOCK IT DOWN! Wall jump between the thin edges
of it, spinning in between for momentum. Try to stay in between without
hitting the wall itself and not coming into the foreground. Atop the wall,
stand on the edge & backflip/spin for the Star.
Green Star 2
Knock down the upright wall but DO NOT TAKE THE RAMP! Walk up past the
bowling pins and drop off the centre edge of the ramp's end for the Star.
Green Star 3
Take the ramp to the 2nd planet. Behind the fence where a green Octorok
stands guard, drop off the edge of the planet for the Star.
*Hightail Falls Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the first major ramp, use the Dash Pepper with Yoshi and head up the left
side where the ? coin is. Deek the ramp ahead of you and the left one to
ride up the left side of the ramp. Grab the 2nd Dash Pepper, then straight
ahead to the penguin. Slam into the fence and whatever you do, DO NOT JUMP!
Wait until the pepper's power dies down and get the Star.
Green Star 2
After the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, take the ramps to the bridge, then going up
the next ramp, deek left avoiding the purple borders and then right in
midair to get atop them. Wait for the Dash Pepper to wear off. Jump/float
with Yoshi or long jump if you lose Yoshi (you can dismount to avoid falling
off the edge) right to the Star.
Green Star 3
At the swinging flowers between the last two ramps, use the highest &
rightmost flower, swinging right, then jump/float and dismount to reach the
Star.
*Cosmic Cove Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Wall jump between the two frozen waterfalls, then jump left over the fence
from the original Power Star for the Green one.
Green Star 2
Swim in the water that moves in straight rows and at the 1-Up, head right
to the brown block. Stand on it, then jump/spin to the right for it.
Green Star 3
Swim to the key and long jump left over the red rim of the watery part.
You shouldn't have to do much else to reach it (a natural long jump should
work).
*Honeybloom Galaxy*
Green Star 1
In the bouncing grapes area, in the middle top area, bounce off a grape &
float with your Bee Mushroom to the Star.
Green Star 2
At a set of two swings before a vine, stand on the wooden post holding the
first one and fly up to a high point just left of the vine.
Wild Glide Galaxy
Green Star 1
After the 3rd red archway, nosedive at the waterfall below you and get the
Star in an opening in the rock wall over the river.
Green Star 2
Near the end, as you come out of the icy cave, push to the right and get the
Star on the small rocky mountain.
*Bowser's Lava Lair*
Green Star 1
At the two wall crushers on the green carpet, on the left side to the Dry
Bones on a small platform and long jump/spin towards a dark rock in the lava
with the Star behind it.
Green Star 2
After the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, in the area with the eater enemies, wait until
the floor is eaten away above the Star and drop through the hole to it.
Above the Life Mushroom on a bough of the tree in the first area. Use Yoshi's
blue blimp fruit to reach the bough, then jump/float & dismount to reach it.
Green Star 2
On the 2nd planet, below the moving platforms, hidden in the top left corner.
By the 1-Up, head left, then drop and jump/float with Yoshi, then dismount to
reach it.
Green Star 3
In the trunk slide course, when you come to the red Wigglers moving in circles,
hug the left side and jump to it in between two broken tracks.
*Cloudy Court Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Near the very beginning, use the cloud flower & backflip/spin above the
dinosaur hedge 2-3 times to reach it.
Green Star 2
At the cymbal above the drums, long jump & spin 2-3 times towards the star in
the distance.
Green Star 3
At the very end by the original Power Star, use a cloud to get above the star
and long jump to the other side of the windmill vent at right for it.
*Freezy Flake Galaxy*
Green Star 1
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, jump in the tunnel slide at the point where
you reach a slight upwards incline to the ceiling.
Green Star 2
After the 2nd Checkpoint Flag in the lava-filled area, long jump to the
border of the planet in the foreground across from the ? block. Try to use a
snowball to run a path to it or chance it by hotfooting on the lava.
Green Star 3
At the wintery part where you can't see much ahead of you, go right to the
bunny with the wooden tower. Jump off it to find 3 1-Ups and the Star.
*Haunty Hall Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the end of the 1st area by the bonus portal, drop off the edge on the
right side and spin into the star under the portal.
Green Star 2
After the Launch Star in the 1st area, look for a shadow on the carpet &
backflip/spin under it.
Green Star 3
On the last stretch with the Big Boo following you, on the 3rd set of
platforms heading up, backflip/spin under it.
*Beat Block Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Around the corner ahead in the top left, stand in that corner of the safe
purple block and backflip/spin to reach it.
Green Star 2
In the bottom right corner of the pyramid with Silver Stars near the end
of the level. Two blocks left of that one, do a triple jump & spin to
collect the star.
*Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy*
Green Star 1
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, on the left side of the elevator lift
platform, wait for a string of Star Bits, then jump slightly left to it.
Green Star 2
In the left corner of the platform with the Silver Chomp. Finish it off
first, then roll VERY CAREFULLY into the top left corner (not on the raised
circle) and jump to it.
*Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet*
Green Star 1
Using the yellow platform heading up, use a Bullet Bill to blow up the 2nd
domed ship Bullet Bill launcher at right after a trio of mines, then jump/
float to it with Yoshi.
Green Star 2
On the right side of the 2nd Airship. Carefully tread the right thin plank
and jump/float with Yoshi at its end to it.
High up & right from the rotating coin in the first area. Stand on the big
block left of the coin and time a triple jump so the last jump is off the very
edge of the coin & you'll reach it.
Green Star 2
Very risky. It's under the 2nd Thwomp after the 1st Checkpoint Flag. Slide
down the wall of the left block underneath it and fall towards it, pulling the
Control Stick down as you drop into it so you move into the foreground
(sliding down moves him further back somehow).
Green Star 3
On the wheel with the 3 Koopas walking around it after the 2nd Checkpoint
Flag. Defeat all 3 Koopas with the drill, then lose it by getting into the
Launch Star WITHOUT SHAKING THE WIIMOTE. Drop back onto the wheel and do a
triple jump, spinning at the Star.
*Sweet Mystery Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Just past the 1st Checkpoint Flag, use the Bulb Berry and head along the path,
standing under it. When the ground disappears from under you, you can fall
into it, and float with Yoshi for an extra chance.
Green Star 2
Not too far from Green Star 1. From the Comet Medal, jump/float right with
Yoshi. Dismount if you need another chance at it.
*Flipsville Galaxy*
Green Star 1
</pre><pre id="faqspan-4">
At the 1st Launch Star, DO NOT USE IT! Walk up along the blue rim very
carefully and drop off the edge to the Star.
Green Star 2
At the 1st Checkpoint Flag, at the 2nd set of Chomps, get the Life Mushroom
for insurance, then wall jump between the two buildings, spinning midway
for extra momentum. It's atop the roof on the left.
Green Star 3
VERY RISKY! After the moving platforms and red spikes following the 2nd
Checkpoint Flag, where the Launch Star is, get on the underside of that
area where the crate is and stand in the bottom right corner. Jump off
over the fence and slightly right on the Control Stick. You'll "fall up"
into the Star!
*Honeyhop Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Use the Floaty Fluff to get through the red balloon and grab the Star. You
may not get it automatically, so shake the Wiimote and retreat back to it if
you miss it.
Green Star 2
At the very top level with the Queen Bee, climb her body and fly out to the
Star in front of her face.
*Starshine Beach Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Atop a ? block on the palm tree near the blue blimp fruit in a watery
sinkhole. Backflip/spin to get on top of it, then do that again for it.
Green Star 2
Use the Dash Pepper with Yoshi at right and approaching the huge tower in
the water at right, get close, then jump/float & dismount to reach it.
Green Star 3
Get a cloud flower and ride a green lily pad to the capsized bottle-shaped
platform. Use the trampoline to spring up and use a cloud, then backflip
& spin 1-2 more times to get the Star high up.
*Chompworks Galaxy*
Green Star 1
In the first area, get up in the path of the rolling Chomps. Backflip
right over them near the chute and long jump/spin to the Star way back.
Green Star 2
At the red & blue flipping platforms, get to the far left and backflip/
spin atop the yellow block. Get onto the slanted roof in back and walk
to the far right for a Star.
Green Star 3
At the very end of the level, use the Spring Mushroom to get atop the
moving platforms and onto a giant screw on the right side. Do a big
spring (hold & release A) at its very tip to reach it.
*Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet*
Green Star 1
Get the Life Mushroom by the double rotating fire bar platform and
head up a bit more, then backflip/spin atop a pillar at left. You may
miss and hotfoot on the lava, but with the Life Mushroom, you should get
it just fine.
Green Star 2
After the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, climb atop the ? block, then backflip &
spin to get the 1-Up against the wall, then wall jump right to reach the
Star high above the ? block.
At the 2nd pull star planet, aim at the rotating pull stars circling the Launch
Star, and move quickly to move straight up to the Star. DO NOT USE THE LAUNCH
STAR! For example, you can use a left pull star, then aim for the 2nd next
pull star towards the top and float past them ("overpulling") to it.
Green Star 2
Technically, this comes after the next one chronologically the way I get it.
Oh well :oD Use the Sling Star at the end of the bubble launchers and the 1st
Checkpoint Flag. Head left past the Thwomp and down the red/green stripe just
before it to the Star.
Green Star 3
At the bubble launching planet, spin at the 1st lever, then find the last
bubble launcher at right in the next gated area. Get inside a bubble it
releases to float into the Star off the planet in the foreground.
*Upside Dizzy Galaxy*
Green Star 1
In the top left corner of the 2nd gravity-pull area. Jump on the blocks and
use the left strip of red gravity, possibly launching into the blue gravity
above. Once back down, get in-between the two strips of red gravity, into the
left one when it's farthest left to "fall up" and reach the Star in the top
left corner. If you miss it, you can also wall jump off the left side to it
when in blue gravity.
Green Star 2
In the area just following Green Star 1, you'll launch up. Try to land on top
of the red gravity strip platform, then long jump right to the Star.
*Boo Moon Galaxy*
Green Star 1
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, use the purple platforms up to the Launch Star,
but DO NOT USE IT! Hop to the next two purple platforms as if heading to the
Secret Star and jump left after a close encounter with a Boo (about halfway to
the Secret Star) when the platform heads to the left side to reach the Green
Star.
Green Star 2
Fall off the left side of the crescent moon and pull right on the Control Stick
to reach it.
Green Star 3
At the end of the level in the pop-up area, get atop the middle tall pillar,
then backflip/spin onto the roof. Long jump towards the foreground to the
Star.
*Slipsand Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Just after the 1st Checkpoint Flag, head down the sandy waterfall to the bottom
middle.
Green Star 2
On the sandy slide, hug the left edge immediately to slide into it.
Green Star 3
On the sandy slide, hug the right edge as the last pair of rolling cylinders
come towards you, just after the right cylinder passes and it's safe to ride
along there.
*Fleet Glide Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Nosedive immediately from the beginning to fly right into it. Hard to miss.
Green Star 2
Just after the tunnel with Banzai Bills, get behind the first tower on the
left that collapses. Slow down and glide into it.
*Shiverburn Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Navigate the lava area to the red switch and pound it to freeze it over.
Long jump 2x with clouds to the former volcano (now an icy mountain), then
backflip & spin to get atop it.
Green Star 2
After the 1st Checkpoint Flag, navigate through the moving rock platforms in
the huge lava rea to the end past the Launch Star. On a stationary platform
with a 1-Up, head back two rows and it's against the right lava wall. You
may need to long jump for it if there are big gaps between rocks.
Green Star 3
Be sure to retain at least 1 cloud from your cloud flower. Don't bother
with the Checkpoint Flags as you only get cloud flowers at the very
beginning of the level. At the icy path with falling meteors, avoid the lava
puddles and head to the left side with a stationary cloud and a 1-Up.
Standing on the cloud, backflip & spin, then backflip again to reach the Star
high above you.
*Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker*
Green Star 1
At the first cannon, aim at the Green Star above the circular target ahead.
Green Star 2
At the 2nd cannon with rotating mines (just after the 1st Checkpoint Flag),
aim far left into space at the Star, wait for a gap between the mines, and
shoot. Try for a dead centre aim as Mario (or Luigi) tends to drop slightly.
Use the Pull Stars at the beginning to the upper area just before the 1st
Launch Star. You need to swing past the top left Pull Star into the Green
Star left of the Launch Star. Attach to the Pull Star at the left lava
monster, then aim at the top left Pull Star, pulling your Control Stick into
the Star.
Green Star 2
Immediately after the 2nd Checkpoint Flag, at the tornados, use the 2nd one
to fly up between the lava walls on the left side into the Star.
Green Star 3
In the rollerball course, when you come to the last area before the original
Power Star, bounce off the 1st small set of rubber band ropes, then as you
come down to the 2nd set, roll to the right into the Star. It's a risky
move, but you can collect a 1-Up by jumping a big hole every time you try.
*Clockwork Ruins Galaxy*
Green Star 1
On the 3rd mechanism (the big one), climb the end platform and ride to the
peak, then backflip/spin at the shadow.
Green Star 2
On the 2nd planet, walk the brick border of the area & get the Star in the
top left.
Green Star 3
At the end of the level, on the 2nd set of rolling wheels, ride one left
pastthe nails with the original Power Star and jump to the Star.
*Flash Black Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Take Yoshi up to the top right area above the Launch Star, then jump/float
& dismount, pulling the Control Stick into the very top right corner.
Green Star 2
From the 1st Checkpoint Flag, head straight up the middle about 3-4 Silver
Stars up about 1-2 platforms from the end and drop off the back edge for it.
Look for the glow.
*Slimy Spring Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Behind a pillar in the watery depths just before the ramp with spikey balls.
Green Star 2
At the Launch Star, DO NOT SHAKE THE WIIMOTE! Drop to a safe, hidden
platform where a 1-Up sits at left and the Star on the right. Be very careful
navigating the thin platform.
*Throwback Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the 3rd moving platform coming out of the wall near the beginning off the
ramp and wall pusher. Drop the middle of it or slide down the wall and jump
off a tiny bit to grab it.
Green Star 2
On the very top of the central fortress, do not defeat the wall crusher. Lure
it over the shadow and stand on its back. Wait for it to start rising and
when it reaches a reasonable height, backflip/spin to the Star above.
Green Star 3
At the rotating wooden platform with a plank, get the cloud flower and long
jump to the Silver Star on a stationary cloud between the two rows of clouds.
Long jump & spin into the foreground 3x to reach the Star.
*Battle Belt Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the pumpkin planet (just after the beach one), DON'T COLLECT THE KEY!
Backflip on the glass dome over the pipe and jump for the Star.
Green Star 2
On the Monty Mole planet (just after the ice one), DON'T COLLECT THE KEY!
Backflip onto the glass dome over the pipe, then jump/spin for the Star.
Green Star 3
Can you say deja vu? On the last planet with the Silver Chomps, DON'T
COLLECT THE KEY! Backflip onto the glass dome over the original Power Star,
then backflip/spin for the Star.
*Bowser's Galaxy Generator*
Green Star 1
Use the Floaty Fluff and avoid the fireball launchers. Aim at the bottom
left corner over the lava base across from the soil patch with the dril.
Green Star 2
After the Checkpoint Flag and bridge, get Yoshi at right. Stand on the
tilty platform and let the right side tilt up as much as you can without
falling off. Get onto the right side and quickly jump/float towards the
Star far ahead, then dismount to fly into it.
Under a green disappearing tile in the middle right area by the 1-Up in
the corner bordering the lava.
Green Star 2
Also under a green disappearing tile, this time in the middle left corner.
Stand in the dead centre of the tile and drop into it.
Rolling Coaster Galaxy
Green Star 1
At the fork, take the left side this time and ride the middle hill straight
to the end. At the 1-Up, jump forward with enough momentum into the Star.
Green Star 2
After you run an automatic track that makes you fly to a platform with
missing pieces on the left & right, roll off the 2nd gap on the right into
the Star.
*Twisty Trials Galaxy*
Green Star 1
After getting the cloud flower, long jump right off the end of the platform,
spinning each time to reach the Star.
Green Star 2
Nearly identical to the first one. Past the safe platform, you'll come to
a 1-Up. Long jump right off that platform, spinning each time for a cloud
to reach the Star.
*Stone Cyclone Galaxy*
Green Star 1
Past the moving platforms over the water cyclone, find the left platform
with a 1-Up and wait for the Tox Box to pass by. Follow it to the multi-
coloured brick tile before the plain one with a shadow to start a triple
jump and aim your last jump over the shadow to reach the Star high above.
If you miss, land safely on the right path and try again.
Green Star 2
Take the right path after Green Star 1 and pass the first Tox Box
following it. Slow things down by pounding the ! switch, then long jump
and spin off the left corner of the path to the Star.
*Boss Blitz Galaxy*
Green Star 1
In the Monty Mole fight area, jump to the Star against the tree.
Green Star 2
In the Bouldergeist fight arena, head left against the edge until you see
it and carefully jump over the edge to it.
*Flip-Out Galaxy*
Green Star 1
At the beginning, climb to the safe platform above the pipe and drop off,
pulling slightly right to the Star. Spin for insurance.
Green Star 2
Get to the very end of the level, and spin the crystal 2x to get rid of
the Clones. DO NOT COLLECT THE ORIGINAL POWER STAR! Spin (if necessary)
and stand atop the blue wall. Drop off the edge of the wall, pulling
slightly right to the Star. Spin for insurance.
After getting all the Green Stars, a new galaxy appears. Head right to
it.
This is an original Power Star. There is also a Comet Medal to find.
There are a number of stages that use various skills you've learned
along the way. Use Yoshi and swing consistently using the flowers,
and avoid the mines, Paragoombas, and (near the end), Bullet Bills.
There will be 1-2 instances where skipping a flower is best to avoid
getting hit. At the end, float to reach the Launch Star with Yoshi.
In the 2nd stage, head left around the perimeter of the area to
the back right corner, down 3, jump back 2 diagonally, down, left,
back diagonally right, then right to the last 2.
In the 3rd stage, hit the Checkpoint Flag, dismount Yoshi, and use
the cloud flower, riding the vent wind up. Refresh, then drop down
and spin, riding the wind right. Avoid the electric fields,
backflipping and riding clouds over the humps that ensue. Keep
heading all the way right to the Launch Star. Try to keep clouds
with you.
In the 4th stage, walk the green tiles, then stay on the blue tiles
WITHOUT SPINNING, jumping across to the left ones, then jumping over
the lasers, and long jump to the next one on the left. Use the
green tiles, long jumping to the next blue one, jump 3x, then long
jump to the next set. Ignore the Octoroks spouting coconuts or
fireballs, then head around the laser enemy and long jump to the
Launch Star.
In the 5th stage, hit the Checkpoint Flag and jump right, then left
back & forth as you head up the vertical electric bar. Long jump
over teh next one, then aim to the Pull Star ahead to bypass the
pair of the electric bars. Time this carefully going past 2
fields, then between two rotating ones, quickly going through 2
Pull Stars one after the after. Do a quick transition to the last
2 Pull Stars, swinging around the last electric field to the Launch
Star.
In the 6th stage, head right past the 2 Hammer Bros. and use the
Sling Star. Repeat the process with another Hammer Bro. Head up
on the purple block sets, then left, defeating the Hammer Bro.
Jump/spin with timing on the spinning platforms, and long jump,
then jump right. Jump to the Comet Medal, then spin back left onto
the platform. Long jump left to the 2nd middle platform ahead,
ignoring the Hammer Bro., and defeat the 3 Boomerang Bros. on the
last platform. You get the Power Star.
You will need to deposit 9999 Star Bits with the green Banktoad
on the ship to access the Prankster Comet. See Secrets for help
on getting 999 Star Bits at a time.
If you have finished the game before, your previous game file's
status will be transferred over. In other words, if you have 9999
Star Bits from a prior file, it will show up in your current game
file. You don't have to do it again (whew)!
#1- The Perfect Run
A Daredevil Comet. Do the entire star level again without getting
a single hit. No Checkpoint Flags. Definitely the hardest task in the
entire game. You will need lots of 1-Ups, so I suggest using the
Chance Cube Lumas (the coins are more plentiful) on the ship.
Use all the same strategies. Some changes: In the 1st stage, instead
of Paragoombas, there are spiked flying enemies, which are somewhat
harder to bypass. Everything else is the same. After defeating the
3 Boomerang Bros., use the Launch Star to reach Rosalina. Collect the
Star here.
No Green Stars for this one (thank goodness!). To make it official,
re-enter Bowser's Galaxy Generator in World 6, and finish him off once
again (that makes it 3 times) in Bowser's Fortified Fortress. Watch
the end credits. DO NOT TURN OFF THE GAME! Your game file status is
now Master of Galaxies and your game file planet head will now glow!
These start to appear around the time you gather 15 Comet Medals, sometime
during World 3. They appear randomly in previously finished galaxies.
The types of Prankster Comets are:
Speed Run
Daredevil
Cosmic Clone
Purple Coin
Enemy Romp
*World 1*
Sky Station Galaxy
#1- Peewee Piranha's Speed Run
You have an ongoing time limit, starting at 20 seconds & increased
by collecting clocks along the way to finish the level, including
the miniboss fight at the end. Missing clocks cuts your time, so
try to nab them all if you can. Missing 1 or 2 may not be a big
deal, but get into the habit.
Head left & get a clock atop the green pipe, then take it. Backflip
& get another clock on the mountain, then spin the crystal & drop to
the roof, then use the Launch Star. Avoid the mud & get the clock on
the rotating platform, then long jump upwards to a clock over the
quicksand area. There is another clock in the middle area where the
rotating platforms are, then use the Launch Star. Collect all the
coins on this planet, then fight the Piranha miniboss again to win
the Star (same strategies as previously).
Yoshi Star Galaxy
#1- Spiny Rainbow Romp
You have 1 minute to knock out all 30 Spinies as Rainbow Mario. Get
the Rainbow Star & start knocking! 5 are in the first area, then
use the springboard. Explore the left side by the water, in the
middle, behind the green hill, and around the right side. Avoid
the mud at ALL costs as it REALLY slows you down. You don't go
beyond the fence & mud borders. The Star winds up in the middle
circular grass platform.
Spin-Dig Galaxy
#1- Digga-Leg's Daredevil Run
You need to refight Digga-Leg with only 1 health meter point. Use
the same strategies as earlier, but I would suggest systematically
jumping on the drill enemies he spits out to avoid getting suddenly
hit. Don't stand in direct opposition to the drill, because you
won't automatically jump on it. Defeat him again for the star.
Flip-Swap Galaxy
#1- Purple Coin Flip 'n' Sprint
You have 3:00 to get all 100 Purple Coins on this maze of blue/red
switches.
Get the coin ahead, then 1 on the left blue switch & long jump 2x for
more on blue. Flip to red, long jump, then the ring of them and a 1-Up.
You should have 15 coins now.
Go left for 2, then long jump past the electric barriers to blue for
more. Flip to red & long jump to the far right side for more, then
on blue & long jump. 2 on red, long jump to red by safety, then
back up a bit for a couple more. After the circle of coins in safety,
you should have 39. Head along red, then blue, avoiding the cannon-
balls' paths. You should have 52 now with the next circle of coins.
Flip to blue, then red, then blue again, and backtrack a tad to avoid
the cannonballs and get what you missed. Flip back & forth as it
makes sense to & jump over the electric barrier moving back & forth.
At the next checkpoint with the circle of coins, you should have 79
coins.
Head on red, then blue & over the electric barrier that moves back &
forth. You'll come to the very last coin on the stationary block to
get the star.
Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla
#1- Fiery Flotilla Speed Run
You have 2:00 to defeat Gobblegut. Use the same strategies as
the earlier fight to win the Star. Simple as that ;o)
*World 2*
Puzzle Plank Galaxy
#1- Purple Coin Shadow Vault
You enter the indoor area where the ? coin minigames appear. You
have 1 minute to collect all the purple coins, which are set out
in small groups with clones following you all the way. Try to nab
all coins in a single group, heading in some kind of direction.
Don't forget the bottom left & right areas of the room as you tend
to work upwards first. Once you get the last coin, the clones &
your time limit are gone, allowing you time to collect loads of
Star Bits & the star.
Boulder Bowl Galaxy
#1- Rolling Crabber Romp
You have 1 minute to knock off 30 crabs on this wire mesh planet
using the Rock Mushroom. First, quickly launch to the 2nd
planet and roll around like a mad person to knock out as many
as you can. When the number starts dwindling, it's best to
stop & aim at them deliberately to avoid missing them. You
get the star for knocking out all the crabs. You also get 2
1-Ups from the debris.
Hightail Falls Galaxy
#1- Hightail Falls Speed Run
You need to complete the level in 3:00. No clocks to collect on the
way this time, but the boulders falling from the sky are new!
Watch for new holes in the bridge area & head up with Yoshi, using the
Dash Pepper as you've done before. Use the Launch Star, then use the
Dash Pepper again, going straight up the ramp. Head over the crumbling
blocks, using the Dash Pepper a bit further up all the way to the next
Launch Star.
Dash up, avoiding the boulders (no poles anymore) and around right &
down, slamming into the wall off the bridge to slow up. Head right &
dash up the moving platform, heading left through the purple borders to
the platform. Swing on the flowers left, then dash up through the
purple borders & left down, then deek right between the purple parts to
the star. You may need to retry that last part a few times, so I hope
you have enough time left!
Bowser's Lava Lair
#1- Lava Lair Speed Run
This one requires you to run through the level by collecting clocks.
Starting at :30, get the clock ahead, beat the Magikoopa, then use
the Pull Star to continue on.
Head straight up to the top side and get the clock by the trampoline,
then pound it to continue. Get the clock on the upside of the next
planet, then use the Launch Star. Get another clock up ahead and
to the right as you cross the spinning platforms. Defeat the Hammer
Bro, then use the Sling Star, collecting a clock automatically.
Get a clock atop the rotating firebar platform, then pound the red
switch to lower yourself. Jump across the spinning platforms, getting
the clock ahead. Long jump across to the left side for another clock,
bypassing the wall crusher. Head right, beating that wall crusher, and
get the clock just before the golden ball.
Pound the ball to break the lock and get pulled into the next area.
Head up, getting a clock, and carefully navigate the holey floor.
A clock stands alone in this area and a 1-Up, if you dare try to get
it. Head forward to the purple platform, get the Life Mushroom and
the next clock. Beat the Magikoopa, heading right all the way to
a similar task. Jump over the electric beams being shot out of the
Bowser statues, nabbing the last clock, and up to the Star.
*World 3*
Tall Trunk Galaxy
#1- Tall Trunk's Purple Coin Slide
This is the same slide level as in regular play. You need to collect
at least 100 coins on the ride. Play as Luigi if you want. Try
collecting as many in a row as you can, changing direction where new
coins appear. Use the same strategies as you used earlier with this
level and when you land at the tree with 100 or more coins, you'll get
the star.
Cloudy Court Galaxy
#1- The Shadow Lining
Follow the blue blocks that appear before you & disappear behind you as
the clones race behind you. Collect the 5 Star Chips that are easy to
see, then use the Launch Star.
Head right & wall jump up, then go up the steps and under the plain
walls, then wall jump to the Sling Star. Jump the gaps, then use that
Sling Star, then go up & spin the crystal 2x for the star.
Rolling Masterpiece Galaxy
#1- Masterpiece Speed Run
You have 2:00 to head through the level, replacing one area with a
new obstacle course. Follow the walkthrough for this level normally.
In the first colourful area, head up, then left & up some more to the
blue area with the key. Head up all the way, slightly right to the
red area to launch. Same instructions for now.
Stay very steady on the blue tiles or you'll fall off. In the new
golf-course-type area, avoid the holes & Bob-ombs by heading right,
jumping over them as you can. It's okay to go fast here to get some
big leaps in. Beat the Silver Chomp as usual, then head up to the
pink circle & climb the pole for the Star.
Haunty Halls Galaxy
#1- Spooky Cosmic Clone Chase
Try to ignore the clones that follow you throughout. Long jump like
crazy to get across the holey floor. You can even bounce off the
floor-eating enemies if need be. Head along as usual, then up onto
the main platform, then jump the green disappearing tiles, and spin
the crystal 2x to win the Star.
Beat Block Galaxy
#1- Silver Stars in Double Time
The green & yellow blocks now change every 2 beats (basically the
time it takes to jump off or land). The walkthrough is the same
as the last time you navigated this level. Once you step on a
block, you need to jump off to the next one & by the time you
land, you'll need to jump off again!
Bowser Jr.'s Fearsome Fleet
#1- Megahammer's Daredevil Bash
Use the same strategies as the regular play fight, except you
cannot get a single hit. Ouch. Use the Sling Star to reach
the Star, jumping the gaps on the side platform ring.
*World 4*
Sweet Mystery Galaxy
#1- Bulb Berry's Purple Coin Glow
You need to collect all 100 coins in the level with no time limit.
Change to Luigi if you want, then grab Yoshi. Head straight up for
4, then a total of 10 before the 1st berry. 20 by the next platform,
and 25 by the next berry.
Head down one strand of coins, then refresh & go up another strand. Go
left for more, refreshing from the distant berry, and head up more. The
moving platforms aren't affected by the bulb berry, so head up them &
use the green disappearing platforms, getting a 1-Up.
Swing on the flowers ahead and along the fast-moving platforms. The last
coin is in the back left of the final platform where the Star appears.
Supermassive Galaxy
#1- Big Wigglers Speed Run
You need to finish the opening level of this galaxy with 2:30 on
the timer. Not a big deal--just follow the walkthrough for this
level, avoiding any temptations that will eat up too much time.
If you have 20+ seconds by the time you get to the Wigglers,
you'll make it. The Star is atop the pole at the end as it was
in regular play.
Flipsville Galaxy
#1- Purple Coin Spin Speed Run
You arrive underground & have 2:30 to get every single one. Get
all the ones here, then drill right & get them all. Drill up,
then left, and up, getting all coins in these areas. Drill right,
then left 2x, and down 2x to the beginning. The star appears in
the middle area with the timer turned off. A trick to getting
all the coins is wall jumping & jumping just before gravity
changes direction and even spin/drilling after jumping to reach
them in a spin-grab move (drill on a white part so you won't go
through to another area).
Chompworks Galaxy
#1- Cosmic Clones in the Chompworks
You need to complete the course by leading the Golden Chomp but
with a series of clones following you from behind. They creep
up once you pass the first platform. Long jump to the starting
point and follow the same directions as in the regular play
walkthrough for this star. Stopping won't help much and neither
will retracing old steps, so try creating new paths to your
destinations to buy yourself some time as they follow every step
you've taken.
Starshine Beach Galaxy
#1- Purple Coin Beach Dash
This is a fun race against yourself. You have 35 seconds to get
100 coins (not all the ones shown). Get the Dash Pepper and run
through the strings of coins, tilting the Control Stick VERY lightly
left-right to get them in pairs or trios as you head along,
refreshing the Dash Pepper along the way. Once you get 100 coins,
the Star appears at the end of the track.
Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet
#1- Gravity Star Speed Run
You will head through most of the level & collecting clocks along
the way. You start at :30. Head straight up & get the clock at
left on the crate, then continue up and get the Life Mushroom again
in the bottom right of the double firebar rotating platform. Head
up for another clock, then right along a thin path. Go right some
more & get the clock above the block. Another clock will be on the
right. Avoid the fireballs as you head along, fighting gravity.
Wall jump on the blocks above for a clock, then head to the underwater
area. A clock is between a circling fish, and further ahead is another
one in a similar spot. Head right & down, then get the next clock.
Avoid the wall crusher & get a clock at left, then a 1-Up below. Head
down & left very fast (as time is close) and get the next clock. Drop
down fighting gravity & go left for a clock. You're near the end now.
On the rotating circle platform, get the clock at right, then stand on
the semicircle & jump to the next circling platform. Jump/spin for a
clock, then head along left all the way to the top & jump/spin for the
Star.
*World 5*
Slipsand Galaxy
#1- Squizzard's Daredevil Run
You have just 1 health point in which to fight Squizzard again. It is
just as easy as before & completely identical. Easy star!
Shiverburn Galaxy
#1- Octo-Army Icy Rainbow Romp
You have 50 seconds to knock out all the Octoroks on the planet. Use
the Launch Star from the start (wasting about 5 seconds) and get the
Rainbow Star where you land. Skate along to knock off all 30 enemies.
Refresh the Rainbow Star before it completely runs out to avoid slowing
down. You win the Star.
Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker
#1- Boomsday Machine Daredevil Run
You need to run through most of the level with just 1 health point.
The walkthrough is the same until the 2nd cannon. Aim for the square
target. Avoid the instant-death purple goo & ride the silver platform
left to a moving & tilting platform. Avoid the goo that seeps onto
the platform (seen as ridges ahead) by tipping left/right. Hit the
Checkpoint Flag (a first for a Daredevil Comet star) and get the cloud
flower. Long jump to the Launch Star to reach the Boomsday Machine
boss fight. Use the same strategies for fighting it as last time &
you win the Star.
Fight the Boomsday Machine again with just 1 health point. Use the same
strategies as the last fight to win the Star.
*World 6*
Flash Black Galaxy
#1- Dark Octo-Army Romp
You have 80 seconds to defeat all 30 Octoroks. Try to bounce on as many in
a row as you can and be aware of the path ahead of you as the light flashes.
A tip: If you fall short of stomping an enemy, spin instead so you don't
waste any time.
Once you hit the 30th Octorok, the timer stops & you get the Star by hopping
to the last platform in the back middle area.
Clockwork Ruins Galaxy
#1- The Adventure of the Purple Coins
You have 5 minutes to collect all 100 purple coins in the level. Get 9
at the start before the first mechanism. After that you'll have 23 and
after the next mechanism, 37 coins (as the Widdle tells you). The big
mechanism coming up will rack up a running total of 65, and then 73 at
the next Widdle. On the last big mechanism, you'll get the rest of them.
The timer will stop and you'll need to ride the end platform to the peak
of its rotation to the Star.
Throwback Galaxy
#1- Whomp Silver Star Speed Run
You will repeat the silver star level from earlier but you have 2:00
this time. Follow the normal walkthrough, but avoid backtracking or
any distractions that will cut your time. Other than that, it's not
hard at all. The timer will stop at the 5th silver star & you'll
collect the Star in the same area as last time.
Battle Belt Galaxy
#1- Mini-Planet Daredevil Run
You have 1 health point to run through the first level of this galaxy.
No Gobblegut fight (yay)! You won't find any coins in this run-through.
Other than that, it's pretty straightforward. The Checkpoint Flags are
intact and there are 3 crabs instead of 2. You win the Star for finishing
it off.
Bowser's Galaxy Generator
#1- Bowser's Big Bad Speed Run
This is a level runthrough with clocks. You start at :30. Head up towards
the firebars & backflip to get a clock above them. Use the Sling Star ahead
and defeat the 2 Boomerang Bros., collecting 2 clocks on either side of the
Floaty Fluff. Use it to head down and get a clock between the fireball
launchers. Drop to the platform at the end and get a clock, then drill in
the sandy spot.
Head up for another clock and then left for another. Instead of Banzai Bills,
there are Octoroks to avoid. Drill in the sand straight ahead, then head left
diagonally and straight up to the clock just past the sand. Drill, then use
the Launch Star, collecting a clock on the way. Upon landing, get another
clock, then ride the moving platform to the cloud flower. Backflip for a
clock, and drop to nab the one below you, using a cloud to land. Refresh
before heading up (no Bullet Bills!), then get a clock on top, and below.
Use the vent wind, refresh the clouds, get the clock at right & refresh
again, heading straight up. In the top left, use the Launch Star and
get a clock automatically on the way. Get the Checkpoint Flag and head
along the bridge, defeating the Magikoopa. Head right on the tipsy
platform, get Yoshi, then retreat back & swing on the flowers, getting
a clock, and left, swinging in front. Jump/float at the end to the 2
Boomerang Bros. Time is tight, so move fast! Get the Dash Pepper to
run between the closing doors and avoid the towers by heading slightly
right, then slightly left, getting a clock, then straight, and lastly
slightly left to the Sling Star.
Head straight ahead to the clock and ride the purple platform right,
defeating the Magikoopa, get another clock, then jump/float to the left,
getting a clock just before going, and then jump/float back to the right.
Get a clock near the end and ride the platform all the way up to the
Star.
*World S*
Mario Squared Galaxy
#1- Luigi's Purple Coin Chaos
This time the area is all Luigi! Lava is replaced by dark instant-death goo.
You have 2 minutes to collect all 100 purple coins...and you have cosmic
clones following you...yikes! I can't give you much direction, but try to
work the zones and get all coins in strings, head around in one direction &
try not to backtrack as you'll crash into the clones that are following your
every move. Use a minimal number of green disappearing tiles so that you
also have a path to follow to return to the Star, which appears back on the
first platform. You'll probably need to long jump most of the way back, but
if you end up back at the beginning by going around the level in a circle,
you won't have far to go. The timer stops once you get the 100th coin.
Rolling Coaster Galaxy
#1- Purple Coins on the Rainbow Road
There are 110 purple coins on the course and you need to get at least 100.
You have 2 minutes. Jump on the rollerball with a single purple coin.
Roll along the fenced platforms for 5 and then on the track into a long
string of coins for 13 in total. No Bob-ombs this time (yay!). Deek around
the towers as you did in the earlier runthrough of the course for up to 30
and then on the stationary platforms should get you up to around 40 and then
6 before the towers, then around 60 after the next track. Hug the left side
again nabbing a few strings of 3 coins on the way. The automatic track gives
you a few and then the fenced-in platforms will give you the last of the
coins. If you hit 100 before reaching the very end, the timer will stop.
Roll into the hole to free one last coin and talk to the robot to win the
Star.
Twisty Trials Galaxy
#1- Turning Turning Double Time
The platforms are now spinning twice as fast! You need to head through the
level as you did earlier and will need to jump more often to stay atop the
spinning platforms. No time limit, so stay afloat and keep heading up along
them. A Checkpoint Flag sits on the stationary platform ahead and you get
Yoshi, whose jump/float move can help when you're about to fall off. The
Star is atop the last spinning platform, which you'll likely need to jump/
float to.
Stone Cyclone Galaxy
#1- Tox Box Speed Run
You start with :20 and need to collect clocks along the way. Long jump
behind you for a clock and then head across the moving platforms to the
opposite side for a 1-Up & a clock, then all the way up & right for
another clock. At right, stay in the safe spot 2 tiles over. Long jump
to the green disappearing tile, and then to the ? box, which is a safe
spot. As the next Tox Box comes by, a clock sits to the right. Head up
over the rectangular moving platforms moving back & forth. Spin the
crystal 2x for the Star.
Boss Blitz Galaxy
#1- Throwback Throwdown Speed Run
You will have a time limit of 5:00 to fight all 5 minibosses again. Use
the same strategies as the last runthrough of the galaxy to win the Star.
There are no clocks to collect and the timer will stop once you defeat
the final boss, but will run during Launch Star travels (but not during
cinemas).
Flip-Out Galaxy
#1- Cosmic Clone Wall Jumpers
The level is entirely the same but you'll have Cosmic Clones following you
throughout, starting once you emerge from the pipe near the beginning. Use
the same walkthrough and try not to backtrack your path throughout (though
you shouldn't have reason to). Don't spin when you land short of a red or
blue platform as it will shift. In boxed-in sets of walls, it's okay to
wall jump them, but fall down the middle to cut your odds of hitting any
clones considerably. Other than that, everything is the same. Spin the
crystal at the top 2x to stop the clones and win the Star.
1-Up
A green mushroom that offers you an additional life.
Life Mushroom
A red mushroom that can be found in most boss or miniboss levels that
increases your health meter from 3 to 6. If you drop to 3, you will
lose the ability.
Bee Mushroom
Allows you to become Bee Mario. Fly by pressing/holding/tapping A
and watch your flight meter. Touch water, electricity or get hit by an enemy
and you lose the ability.
Boo Mushroom
Allows you to become Boo Mario. Tap A to float, shake Wiimote to turn
invisible and pass through walls. Touch electricity or get hit by an enemy
and you lose the ability.
Spring Mushroom
Allows you to become Spring Mario. Bounces automatically in place. Hold A
& release for a super spring jump. Touch water, electricity, or get hit by
an enemy and you lose the ability.
Rock Mushroom
Allows you to become Rock Mario. Shake Wiimote to roll and mow over enemies,
break crystals, or knock down upright walls. Can roll over ramps with extra
speed. If you hit a wall, you will stop rolling. Touch water, electricity,
or hit an enemy without rolling and you lose the ability.
Fire Flower
Allows you to become Fire Mario for a limited time. Shake Wiimote to release
fireballs that burn through crates and defeat enemies. You will only lose the
ability when time winds down.
Cloud Flower
Allows you to become Cloud Mario. You start with 3 clouds. Shake the Wiimote
to release a cloud platform under you. Refresh the ability by touching another
cloud flower (they refresh every few seconds). You lose the ability when you
touch water, electricity, or an enemy.
Rainbow Star
Allows you to become Rainbow Mario for a limited time. Race through enemies
unscathed.
Dash Pepper
Use with Yoshi to speed through a course for a limited time.
Blimp Fruit
A blue fruit that allows you & Yoshi to rise & float temporarily. Watch the
air supply meter. Once meter is empty, you will fall.
Bulb Berry
A yellow fruit Yoshi eats that allows hidden paths to be revealed ahead of you
for a limited time. Once time is up, any hidden path below you will disappear.
Spin Drill
Is carried and used to drill in soil or sand patches. Will be lost when hit
by an enemy or entering a Launch or Sling Star.
Checkpoint Flag
A milestone that saves your place during a star level in case you lose a life.
There are usually 2-3 flags per level, except daredevil or speed run levels.
They are black & white with a Bowser logo and must be touched to activate,
creating a red M or green L flag. Upon a game over, flags are reset and you
must restart a level from the beginning.
Comet Medal
A large gold & white disk collected at each galaxy from one star level.
Usually hidden and are sometimes challenging to reach. After World 3,
they activate Prankster Comets.
Coin
Yellow currency. Collect 100 coins for an automatic 1-Up. A running total
allows you to spend coins on Chance Cubes on the ship.
? Coin
A large ? coin found sporadically in star levels or in pipe areas. Often
reveal musical notes, that when collected in their entirety, reward 1-Ups.
Star Bits
Colourful crystals that can be shot at enemies or yellow dots for coins by
using the B (trigger) button. Running totals allow you to spend Star Bits
on Chance CUbes on the ship, feed Hungry Lumas within star levels & on the
World Map, and offer a 1-Up for every 100 Star Bits collected.
Power Star (Yellow)
Rewarded for completing a star level.
Bronze Star
Rewarded for using Rosalina's video preview of how to safely complete a
star level. Must be upgraded to a normal (yellow) Power Star to count
towards progressing in the game.
Grand Star
A giant star rewarded for defeating the dungeon boss at the end of each
world.
Secret Star
A Power Star hidden in secret areas of a star level or for completing
a task in a hidden area, such as a Chimp challenge.
Green Star
Hidden in 2-3 star levels in each world's galaxy.
Prankster Comets
Randomly appear in select galaxy star levels (starting after World 3)
for every Comet Medal found. There are 6 types:
Speed Run
Complete all or a portion of a star level in a time limit. You may
or may not be able to increase your time limit by collecting clocks
found throughout the level.
Enemy Romp
A time limited challenge in which all enemies must be defeated. Often
includes an attack item, such as a Fire Flower or Rainbow Star.
Daredevil
Complete all of a star level or defeat a boss or miniboss without
losing a single health point (limited to 1) and often without the aid
of Checkpoint Flags.
Purple Coin
Collect all or a certain amount of Purple Coins strewn about a star
level or a course within a star level, such as a race. May or may
not be within a time limit.
Cosmic Clone
Complete a star level with enemy clones following & retracing your
every move, restricting any backtracking.
Double Time
Complete a star level where enemies move twice as fast or other
rhythms, such as disappearing blocks, change twice as fast.
World Map
Accessed from the pedal aboard your ship, moving from world to
world and galaxy to galaxy (within worlds).
Avoid his front end & spin at the egg to crack it, revealing a
red balloon bottom. After 3 spins, he will restart & go at it
again, this time faster. Search him out as he runs around &
keep spinning at the backside to earn the star.
Yoshi Star Galaxy- King Lakitu
Get coins from the crystals when you need to. The point
is to use the Spinies to launch at the boss. Avoid the
electricity he uses after each hit. He will move a bit
faster & throw more Spinies after the first 2 hits.
Aim where he is as soon as he lands in that spot or you'll
need to aim where he WILL be very shortly. Collect the
Star.
Spin-Dig Galaxy- Digga-Leg
Head to the Spin Drill, then aim & spin/drill
to the glass dome holding the star when it
sits under the robot's head. After each hit,
the dome will flip to the top (unreachable)
and will send drill enemies after you. If you
hit the feet, you'll just bounce back, so keep
trying. After 3 hits, you win the star.
Bowser Jr.'s Fiery Flotilla- Gobblegut
This is your first dungeon boss & he's pretty challenging. Avoid his
head and spin at the red bulging "bellyaches" (like balls). Run around
a lot to avoid his head & wait for him to dig into the planet. You
can stand close to the body of the dragon without getting hit, but move
when his head emerges as he will charge at you. This boss is huge &
the planet is small, so that can get tough to move around, but you
need to keep moving to avoid gettng hit. Where's the arena that most
Mario bosses fight on?!?
*World 2*
Puzzle Plank Galaxy- Bugaboom
Use the trampoline & your cloud move to rise above the bug, then jump to
its back & ground pound it. Avoid the water so you don't have to change
back. After 1 hit, he will rotate slightly while flying, and after 2
hits, he will rotate in 360s, flying even faster. Do the same moves
until you win the Star.
Boulder Bowl Galaxy- Rollodillo
Rollodillo is a knockoff from Mega Man. Roll as Rock Mario into the
blue buttocks when he stops, and avoid his spiked ball when he starts
rolling around. After 3 hits, he starts moving faster, so keep it
going, and on the 4th hit, you get the Star.
Bowser's Lava Lair- Bowser
After the chat, you'll reach a small planet where Bowser will send
stone balls on your head. Ignore the lights that appear, then he
will pound the ground. Jump on a golden ball & pound it, aiming for
Bowser (anywhere but his spiked shell) quickly before they turn to
stone & crumble. After 2 hits, he will add a fiery breath attack.
Again, run away from the light and jump on, then pound any golden
ball to (after 4 hits) finish him off & earn your 2nd Grand Star.
*World 3*
Freezy Flake Galaxy- Sorbetti
Simply aim & spin at the red nose when he rolls towards you. After 2
hits, he'll move even faster. 3 hits & you'll win the star.
Bowser Jr.'s Mighty Megahammer- Megahammer
This one can be quite tough. Grab a Bullet Bill and
fire it at a blue glass dome. You need to fire 2x at
both blue domes. Once they turn black, use the Sling
Star to reach the back with a big blue glass dome.
Use a Bullet Bill to fire at it, jumping over the
pink electric beams.
He will soon turn around, so you'll need to use the
sling star again to reach the back. Once you hit
the back 2x, the 2nd phase begins where you'll be
aiming for the clear glass dome on the top with
Bowser Jr. lurking.
The 2 hammer arms will come slamming down, releasing
major electric beams. Get a Bullet Bill ready, then
jump over 2 slams of electricity, then fire the Bullet
Bill at the dome as he sits idle. 2 hits & you win a
Grand Star. Use the Sling Star to reach it.
*World 4*
Flipsville Galaxy- Glamdozer
To wake it up, walk to the underside of the
planet and pound the wheel under the boss where the starburst symbol is</pre><pre id="faqspan-5">
to jumpstart the fight.
Bowser's Gravity Gauntlet- Bowser
After Bowser makes a (delayed) appearance, the fight begins. Strategies
are mostly the same as the last fight, only this time there will be electric
beams sent out to jump over (no more than 2). Once again, avoid the light
of a fire attack or meteor crashes, and pound a golden ball to the body.
After 4 hits, you win the Grand Star.
*World 5*
Slipsand Galaxy- Squizzard
This boss is beyond easy! Step up towards the quicksand hole to activate the
fight. Grab a Fire Flower & avoid the balls he throws out, then fire into his
mouth when he opens it. Fire constantly, then refresh your firepower & continue
the pattern. In a 2nd phase, he brings out cannons, but they are just as easy
to avoid. A pair of bombs are thrown out, but if you stand between them, you'll
be safe. Continue firing into his mouth & you win the Star.
Shiverburn Galaxy- Prince Pikante
Skate around the arena to avoid the Zamboni it rides. Fireballs
shot out form lava pools on the ice. Spin at any green coconuts he releases
to hit it. After 2 hits, he goes along much faster & melees of attack items.
Continuously skate around & avoid him (he's not good at following you) and
after 3 hits, you win the Star.
Bowser Jr.'s Boom Bunker- Boomsday Machine
The arena is nice & big, but you are still at risk for falling off the edge
or getting run over by the huge tank the machine rides. Also avoid its spouting
electric balls & the rotating firebars. Get a Cloud Flower and use it over a
vent. Ride it up, avoiding the electric balls being released, and long jump
about 2 times to reach the dome. Pound it for a hit. Now the entire machine
can get electrified (turns mostly yellow), so obviously don't pound the dome
when it's like that. When you use the vent & the machine lights up, the vent's
direction will reverse.
After 2 hits, the tank will move around constantly. You will need to refresh
your cloud flower about 2 times as you move towards it. Use the vent, then
get on a stationary cloud to refresh. Long jump & use a cloud to get closer
to the machine's dome. Pound the dome just 1 more time & you win the Grand
Star.
*World 6*
Throwback Galaxy- Whomp King
Avoid its red shadow and jump when it slams to not be frozen by its vibration.
Pound the cracked star on its back and continue the pattern. Don't worry about
the tiny wall crushers it releases that aren't instant-death. After 3 hits,
you win the star.
Battle Belt Galaxy- Gobblegut Part II
Use the same strategies to fight it as earlier, but this time, you can't
touch an inch of the dragon as it's entirely on fire! Watch out for the lava
pools that appear on the planet after the 2nd phase. You win the Star for
defeating it...again.
Bowser's Galaxy Generator- Bowser
The fight is mostly the same as previous ones. Avoid the light from his fist
and the electric beams that are released, as well as the meteors that fall.
Pound a golden ball, aiming for Bowser (anywhere but his spiked shell) for a
hit. In the 2nd phase, avoid his fiery breath and all other tactics from
earlier. After 4 hits, you get the Grand St....WHA?!?! Sorry, one more
twist. In outer space, you'll float onto golden balls and need to pound them
at Bowser when he is not curled into a spiky ball. Aim carefully, because if
you miss, he will lurk closer to you and try to punch you. After 3 hits,
you'll win the Grand Star (grabbing it after Peach rides in on it) and have
finished the 1st run-through of the game. Congrats :o)
*World S*
Boss Blitz Galaxy- Peewee Piranha
Spin the ball on the tail to break the egg, and then keep heading around to
its back, spinning the ball 3 more times to win. Use the Sling Star to
continue.
Boss Blitz Galaxy- King Kaliente
Avoid the fireballs and spin at the green coconut at him for a hit. The next
two times, you'll need to bop it back at him once, and then twice, avoiding
the icy rocks. Use the Sling Star.
Boss Blitz Galaxy- Monty Mole
Wait for the mole to arise, then ground pound
and spin at him to initiate the fight. As he chases you, wait for him to arise
again, ground pound, then chase after him & spin at him. After 2 hits, a 2nd
phase starts where he moves much faster. Ground pound when he pokes his head
up, then wait as he gets a second wind and charges at you. When he's close
enough without mowing you down, pound again, then chase after him & spin to
win. Use the Sling Star to continue.
Boss Blitz Galaxy- Bouldergeist
Circle around him and avoid the rocks that he throws out. Gold
ones give coins and black ones give Bomb Boos. Spin at 1-2 that are
released and run up to Bouldergeist to hit it.After 2 hits, he morphs
into a ghost head (!). Use a Bomb Boo on it to enter the 2nd phase
where he grows hands. Watch out for the punches and the rows of rocky
pillars. Also, the hands can slam down, but this is where you can
attack with Bomb Boos as the body isn't protected. 2 hits to each hand
will temporarily down them, but they will return after a short minute
or so. After 2 hits on Bouldergeist, he will morph again into a ghost
head. One Bomb Boo hit and he's toast. Use the Launch Star, then the
next one on a purple planet.
Boss Blitz Galaxy- Fiery Peewee Piranha
Spin at the ball of the tail to get things
started. Avoid the fire (obviously), watching the pattern so you can
time your spin attack well. After 2 hits, a 2nd phase starts where he
throws around fireballs as well. You'll win the Star after defeating
this last boss.
By request, I've added this section for players to post their high

*Like in several Mario games of late, if you leave Mario or Luigi
unattended for about 30 seconds, they will yawn, then sit down
and fall asleep.
*In rollerball galaxies (Rolling Masterpiece and Rolling Coaster),
you can roll over the Bill Board signs and they will flatten, then
spring back up.
*From Amit & Tomer- In 2-player mode, in Supermassive Galaxy (the one
with the HUGE creatures/items) after the launch star, there are 3
turtles. Stop the one that is running towards you and then all 3 of
them will stop. Then run (without the drill) and jump on the back of
the last turtle (from behind) and start jumping on his back. You hear
a sound chiming for every bounce. After about 10 bounces you begin to
hear the 1-Up sound on every bounce. After 2 minutes... you have 99
lives (the maximum you can get). I call it 99 lives in 2 minutes!!!
If you have any additional secrets for Super Mario Galaxy, send
me an e-mail and I will add them to this section with your name

Please do. I can really only be reached by e-mail at

sending (or keep them there if you like to get Mailer-Daemons...
freakazoid). The brackets and "at" are there only to avoid additional
spam e-mail. I get enough of those already as it is.
