Hello and welcome to the first ever bestiary guide for a game called Rune
Factory Frontier. In this game, you can recruit different monsters from the
different dungeons and they will have different functions. Some will help you
harvest your crops, some will help even water them. The following is a list of
those monsters and what they do, as well as drop. Also included will be
assorted bits of information that I thought may be useful, and different
sorting methods to (hopefully) make life easier for all of you.
All credits, copyrights, version info, and all that other boring rubbish will
be at the end of this FAQ. If you are THAT interested, feel free to scroll
down to the very end, and browse the wonder that has nothing to do with the
game itself.

Here we go!
[0001] How to start taming monsters
To tame monsters, you need to get the Brush. Getting it is a horribly long
and drawn out proce... wait. No it isn't. Water the sprout by the Clock
Tower to make a vine appear. Head up to Whale Island. Talk to the Whale.
Go see Kross. *POOF!* You are the proud owner of a Brush!
While you are there, you should also probably talk to Kross about building a
Barn. In fact, you must do that before you can get some pets. The initial
floor of the barn costs a mere 10 lumber and 1,000 gold, so obtaining the
first room should be no problem. That will house your first 10 monsters.
Another thing to consider is the feeding of your pets. Not quite essential
if all you have are mounts (more on that later), but for your laborers, you
have to be nice to them before they'll work for you. How to feed them? Two
options: Buy feed from Erik, or grow your own fodder. The first option is
easy, but VERY expensive. Only buy fodder if you manage to slip up and run
out. The second option is preferable, and will even help out with Runeys on
the Homestead (not discussed in this FAQ). If you do not feed your laborers,
they will not work for you, and producers will not give you free stuff.
In order to tame a monster with your Brush, equip it, find a monster, and
"attack" it with the Brush. Each monster has a set number of times you have
to "hit" it, which are all listed below. Also, you need to be at most nine
levels lower than the monster (or higher) to tame it. Brush the monster
enough times, and it will go to your Barn. Ta-daa~! You are the proud owner
of a savage beast! (Unless your target was a Wooly or Chitter... hehehe)
For all the rest of the barn costs, look no further! After receiving a ton
of e-mails, and blaming my procrastination for the continued e-mails, I've
put the costs and information right here:
Initial Barn (1 room, 10 monsters)
1,000 gold, 10 wood
Second and final upgrade (7 rooms, 70 monsters total)
50,000 gold, 800 wood
Thanks, everyone who wanted a complete guide! I think I put everyone's name
down in the credits section, and thanks to Elyandra for the complete list!
If I forgot anyone, I'm sorry. Not trying to hog credit, or steal thunder,
or be a jerk just for the lulz. I just have a ton of stuff going on right
now, and keeping track of all this becomes a bit difficult.
[0002] Your monsters, and what they can do for you
So, you have a monster. Now what? Well, you put it to work, of course!
Most monsters have some sort of task that they can perform on the Homestead.
Okay... Maybe not MOST monsters, but a decent number of them can work, and
you should take full advantage of that! If they cannot work, then you still
have a purpose for them: riding and combat!
If all you want is a mount or companion for the dungeons, all you need to do
is catch it, and you can take it out immediately. Feed it? Don't have to.
Pet it daily? Optional. They come to the barn with 1 FP, and I'm not sure
they can lose it (my first Silver Wolf went 3 weeks with no feed). Walk up
to your combat sponge of choice, talk to it, and select the second option:
Take monster with you.
For the other monsters, you need to gain their trust, first. Do this by being
a responsible pet owner. Supply feed for your pets daily, and pet them every
day. Pets also like being around their owners, and taking them out will help
make them happy. (Note for those who buy feed instead of growing it: See the
little hole in the barn to the left of the door? Feed goes in there!)
After a few days of diligent care and feeding, you'll notice your new friend
has gained 1 FP. If it's a worker, feel free to assign it a chore! Only one
monster can do each task daily, so you only need to reserve 6 barn slots for
workers. They each also have a schedule, which I'll put in here as soon as I
get it written down.
For monsters that provide a product, such as wool or eggs, you'll also need to
befriend it. Afterwards, every three days, you can take the mystic dustbuster
(the Harvester!) and waggle it threateningly at your monster. Depending on
both the FP of the monster and what it supplies, you will either get one item
of a level equal to the monster's FP, or an amount of items equal to its FP.
Actions that increase your monster's FP? Brush them daily! This is one of
the most consistent boosts you can give your monster. In addition, just by
feeding them, they will gain a little bit of happiness each day (thanks,
Kaka XXX, for that e-mail!). For another daily boost, grab a monster, and
bring it to the Public Square, and also to the first room of a dungeon.
You'll recieve a message that the pet is a bit happier. For a one time boost
to a single monster, go view the Wooly Constellation with your pet of choice
in tow.
For the jobs each moster can do, look no further! The following list is all
the jobs as I have them labeled on each monster in the Bestiary section.
Plant Harvest denotes that the monster will harvest the wild plants that grow
on untilled soil.
Crop Harvest denotes that the monster will harvest your ripe crops.
Rock Removal denotes that the monster will remove rocks from your farm.
Woodcutting denotes that the monster will remove stumps and wood growth from
the farm.
Watering denotes monsters that will water your crops.
Mowing denotes monsters that will cut grass/fodder.
Mount denotes that you can ride this little fellow.
If the entry states "collect xxxxxx," then you can collect items of that
type from the monster. In the case of "collect grass," I believe that it may
be leaning towards "collect any sort of useful grass that tends to pop up in
your field during any given season," but that would be a rather long thing
to put in for every monster that gives "grass." Also, for "collect seeds,"
it does not seem to matter what type of plant monster it is. It will give
seeds randomly for any given season. Id est: The plant monster "Spring"
does not only give spring seeds. So far, from info I've gained from a fellow
GameFAQs user, the seeds lean heavily to spring, then summer, then fall seeds
in how common they are. ** Thanks DespairSpreader of the RFFGB for the
info! **

care of. Search the item you want, then search for the mob in question

[9995] Credits
xSeed and Marvelous Entertainment USA for bringing us this wonderful game.
MKBound for helping out with formatting and keeping me interested (you may
not have done much to keep my interest in your eyes, but, believe me, I'd
not be motivated to finish this up if not for your willingness to help).
cegmom gets an entry right up here for the immense help given with organizing
data and providing me with a spreadsheet that had everything sorted. Thanks
for all the help!

Some guy who e-mailed me but still hasn't sent me a s/n to credit with.
lilbumkid for pointing out that I had completely missed a monster, and for
starting me out with some info on the High Orc Archer.
kaioti and some anonymous e-mailer for giving initial costs of the barn.
Kaka XXX, Kakera7 and Blade for miscellaneous information.
DespairSpreader for monster collected items information.

[Countless others whose e-mails are probably lost deep in the depths of
my horribly unorganized e-mail inbox...]
DoubleJump Books for the information that provided the meat of this guide.
[9996] Version and update information
v1.00 - The initial guide.
v1.01 - Added mount info (look down for contributors), and am now allowing
Neoseeker.com and www.supercheats.com to host this. NOTE: I am still
horribly lacking in mount info, and all creatures that can be ridden have
NOT been noted in this guide!
v1.10 - A bit of a larger update. Added some information regarding how to
start taming monsters, and other helpful bits. Did some reformatting, with
sections added for info that I am still reorganizing (sorry! Real life
interferes WAY too much!). Look for v2.00 within a week or so! Renamed
FAQ as Bestiary and Pet Guide.
v2.00 - Added more miscellaneous tidbits here and there. Oh, and let's not
forget the addition and completion of TWO MAJOR SECTIONS! Thanks, cegmom!
[9997] Contact info and where to send the hate mail
mightyzonko <at> hotmail <dot> com
When sending an e-mail, make sure to put something along the lines of
"Rune Factory Frontier," or "Bestiary FAQ" or even just "lololol! u mesd up"
in the subject line, so I know why I'm suddenly getting e-mail from people
I don't know. Just so you know, I hate spam, and if I get rubbish from
one, that usually puts a name on my junk mail list. So please, only serious
questions or comments!
Actually, what was I thinking? This is the intarwebz! Serious comments
don't really exist! I recieve all sorts of questions anymore, and sometimes
I can even answer them! So, if it is in any way related to this game, even
if it isn't even a question, feel free to e-mail me.
[9998] Hosting permissions for this guide
So far, GameFAQs is the only place I've posted this.
Permission also granted to:
www.Neoseeker.com
www.supercheat.com
www.gamesradar.com
www.cheatplanet.com
If you see it somewhere else, please let me know! Also, know that the most
up to date version of this guide will be found on GameFAQs.com! If those
other sites update off of this guide, that's cool, but I'm not actually
sending updates to any site but GameFAQs.
