What does the error "Invalid Internet code" mean?

This message means you copied the code incorrectly.  It is very easy to misread
the code, because the font is too small for the average television.  This is a
problem with the game, which in turn has caused problems with the Hall of Fame.

Internet Codes contain exactly 12 characters.  Internet Codes use the numbers
1-9, the lowercase letters "bcdfghjkmnpqrstvwxz", and the uppercase letters
"BHLM".

Note that lowercase "l" and uppercase "I" are not used.  If you see something
similar, it must be either the number "1" or the uppercase letter "L".  The
uppercase "L" gets squished on smaller TVs, but it is not hard to recognize
once you realize what it is.

On smaller TVs, it can sometimes be impossible to tell the difference between
"8" and "B".  There is no workaround, except to hook up to a larger TV.  If you
are not sure if a character is an "8" or a "B", you could get the wrong score
and/or the wrong minigame.

What does the error "You already have a better score for this game" mean?

The Hall of Fame does not accept Internet Codes for scores that are worse than
a score you already entered.  It is not really an error.

If you never entered a code for the minigame before, then you probably misread
the code and accidentally entered a code that happens to be a code for a
different minigame.

If you get this message when entering a code for a Challenge minigame, it's
because of a bug in the game.  See "Why doesn't my code for a Challenge
minigame work correctly?"

What does the error "Internet code outside boundaries fixed by Rayman" mean?

Ubisoft has set limits on the scores that can be entered, probably to prevent
cheating.  Unfortunately, players can sometimes get high scores that Ubisoft
didn't think would be possible.  This has been known to happen with "Bunnies
can't slide Part 2" and "Bunnies have a great ear for music".

There is no workaround, except to complain to Ubisoft technical support.  They
did increase the limit for "Bunnies have a great ear for music", but at least
one player has already exceeded the new limit.

What does the error "Internet code already used" mean?

A particular Internet Code can be used only one time, probably to prevent
cheating.  Unfortunately, the game generates a finite number of randomized
codes for each minigame score.  In some minigames, it is common for many
players to get the same score and players will sometimes be given the same
Internet Code.

For example, many players have achieved perfect scores of 1868 points in
"Bunnies are fantastic dancers".  As of 25 Mar 2007, 517 perfect scores (320
Wii, 106 PC, 91 PS2) have been entered into the Hall of Fame for this minigame.
Many other players have reported that the game has given them codes that have
already been used.  The problem is that the game is believed to generate only
512 or 1024 codes per platform.  (We do not fully understand the Internet Codes
yet.)  Eventually, all of the codes will be used and it will be impossible to
enter a perfect score for this minigame.

There is no workaround currently, except to play again and hope to get a
different code that hasn't been used yet.

Why is my Hall of Fame score different by 0.01?

This is due to differences in rounding between your platform and the Hall of
Fame.

Why did a code give me the wrong score and/or the wrong minigame?

If you were entering a code for a Challenge minigame, see "Why doesn't my code
for a Challenge minigame work correctly?"

Otherwise, you copied the code incorrectly.  Most of the time the Hall of Fame
will reject an invalid code, but sometimes a misread code will actually be a
working code for a different score (usually a score that doesn't make sense) or
for a different minigame (even worse).

Why doesn't my code for a Challenge minigame work correctly?

This is a bug in the game.  The game does not always generate the correct codes
for the Challenge minigames.  When this happens, the game generates codes for
the last minigame in the challenge instead of codes for the challenge minigame
itself.  The behavior is not consistent.  Some people do not have any problems
at all.  Some people have problems with some of the challenges.  Some people
have problems with all of the challenges.

There is a possible workaround for this bug.  If you play with more than one
player, the game might generate the correct codes.  Some people can get the
correct codes using two players.  However, some people have reported having to
use three players to get the correct codes.  Obviously, this workaround is very
time consuming.

Why does the Hall of Fame contain bogus scores?

Bogus scores are almost always because someone misread or mistyped a code.  On
smaller TVs, it can be impossible to distinguish an "8" and a "B".

In minigames with integer scores, any score with a decimal point is obviously
bogus (with the exception of "Bunnies can't shear sheep").  Some minigames are
scored in ways that make it possible to identify other bogus scores.  The
"Bunny hunt!" minigames are always scored in multiples of 100.  Each "Shake
your booty!" minigame has a perfect score that is the maximum possible score.

These are bugs in the game.  The game displays integer scores for these
minigames, but it puts fractional scores into the Internet Code.  The integer
portion is correct though.

What is encoded in the Internet Code?

It contains the platform, the minigame, the score, some random bits, and some
error checking.  The error checking is not very good, which is why mistakes are
common in the Hall of Fame.
