+ Introduction + [_0100_]
------------------------------++++++++++++++++---------------------------------
Welcome to my guide about the equippable items of the fabulous Wii game "Little
King's Story". I hope I can help you with this aspect of the game, which
includes a total of 58 pieces waiting to be obtained.
Getting pieces of equipment is not required, nor is it a dedicated sidequest.
However, both weapons and armors (even if one person can only ever equip one
item) can increase your success rate in battle tremendously, both in that you
can defeat enemies faster and more easily and that your subjects' survival rate
is much better.
Pieces of equipment are obtained in many different ways. They can be found all
over the world, so look out for them all the time; they can be obtained as
rewards for beating some enemies or doing certain sidequests.
***Disclaimer***
If you find some error in my guide or have an idea how to improve it otherwise,
don't hesitate to contact me (see Legal Stuff / Contacts section).
Also, this guide is based on the European version of the game and should be
correct also for the US and Japanese versions once they come out.
If you notice differences/discrepancies between the versions, please contact me
and tell me about them, so I can include this in my guide (of course giving you
full credit).
----------------------------+++++++++++++++++++--------------------------------
+ General Remarks + [_0200_]
----------------------------+++++++++++++++++++--------------------------------
Once you find or obtain a piece of equipment, go back to your throne to 'cash'
in your treasures. These pieces will not net you any money, but will be added
to your 'Treasures'.
*** Each of your subjects can equip only one item at a time. ***
To actually do the equipping, you have different options:
- Sitting on your throne, you look through your treasures in you minister-for-
everything's, Liam's, third submenu. Scroll through them with UP or DOWN.
Then move to the rightmost column of an item you want to allocate, press A
and the list of your subjects turns up: choose the one you want to get
equipped.
- Once you upgrade your podium, you can select the 'Citizens' list from that
(stand on it and press A when the ? is displayed). From that list, move to
the subject you want to get equipped, select the rightmost column and press A,
then you can choose from the treasures list, what item you want to equip on
the selected citizen. (You'll also see on that list who has what item
equipped already.)
Of these two possibilities, the second one is much more convenient as it is
quicker and it's visible which subjects already has what item equipped.
There are two general categories of equippable items: Weapons and Armor.
Weapons either increase attack power or they have a chance to stun the enemy.
(Well, beside the Toy weapons - these are just for looks...)
Armors mainly increase the Life points of the wearer. However, some may also
grant immunity against (certain) status effects.
*** You as the King cannot equip any item, only your citizens can! ***
---------------------------------+++++++++++-----------------------------------
+ Weapons + [_0300_]
---------------------------------+++++++++++-----------------------------------
Weapons are of course well suited for your fighting squad. While I recommend
giving power/attack raising items mainly to soldiers or hunters, stunning
weapons could also be used for your other 'specialists' (e.g. Miners or Lumber-
jacks). However, most of the time you don't want these to participate too much
in close combat.
Use the stunning type weapons whenever possible - except against main bosses
that can't be stunned, such as the kingdom kings or the area guardians (iirc).
There, other pieces of equipment are preferred.
** One more detail must be considered: **
Bows can only be equipped by Animal Hunters - and accordingly all other weapons
can be equipped by everyone except the Hunters.
______
Damage: [_0301_]
¯¯¯¯¯¯
Every normal attack, no matter by which one of your units, does 1 point of
damage to the enemies' Life Points. The main exceptions to that are the
Hardened Grunt Soldier's special attack and the Knight's first attack.
(*Please correct me if I'm wrong on that.*)
The main difference between character classes is their frequency of attacking.
When you equip a weapon that raises power/attack, your damage output per hit is
increased by one (which is equal to doubled). So you do 2 points of damage to
the enemies' Life Points per attack.
General remarks for the sections to come
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The section started with 'How' is where/how the equipment is found/obtained.
Use the search function of your program, which is most of the time opened using
the shortcut (Ctrl + F) and type in the number of the Art Piece you're missing
to quickly jump to your desired piece.
*** Overall, there are 29 different weapons.
*** Some shiny holes only appear at night, so if you can't seem to find one
described here, make sure you check it out at nighttime.

+ Armor + [_0400_]
----------------------------------+++++++++------------------------------------
Armor pieces are well suited for your fighting squad, as they mainly increase
their survival time. Life-increasing armors can also be valuable to equip on a
specialist especially in longer boss fights, when you absolutely need e.g. a
Farmer to survive longer so he can dig holes in the TV Dinnah fight.
The items granting immunities are mainly used for special occasions, e.g. big
fights against monsters that preferably induce status effects. The three types
of status effects you can get immunities for are:
- Poison (lose Life points gradually)
- Burn (lose Life points gradually and run around uncontrolled one second)
- Snowman (freeze at the place where you got hit)
The other two effects Stun and Confuse have no countermeasure (except avoiding
them).
** Every citizen/profession can equip any armor piece **

This section is dedicated to commonly asked questions. So far, there aren't
many... But I will update it whenever I feel the need of it - which means as
soon as somebody asks a question that isn't already answered in this guide.
So if you have a question, or have found a mistake or would like to have
something added, don't hesitate to contact me at:

__________
Q: Do I need some specific items to complete / finish the game?
A: Actually, you do need some items in order to finish the game. However, these
aren't equipment items. So as far as this FAQ is concerned: NO. All of these
are optional, but can help a lot in defeating enemies.
__________
Q: How do I equip an item on myself, the King?
A: You can't!

+ Version history + [_0700_]
----------------------------+++++++++++++++++++--------------------------------
Version 1.00 - Guide written with the most important sections, including all
(06/11/09) 58 equipment items and their effects. This is the first
official, accepted version.
Some conditions of where and how to obtain them exactly still
need some clarification. Also the formatting could do with some
improvement.
Version 1.01 - Verified and corrected some item obtainment conditions (Striped
(06/15/09) Undies, Wood Sword, Grass Mail). Adapted those of Chainmail and
Battleaxe, but they still need verification.
Version 1.10 - Improved the formatting and clarified some descriptions. 'Still
(06/24/09) to come' part (see below) not tackled yet.
Version 1.11 - Added the damage subsection about how damage is increased by the
(07/20/09) weapons, gave a rough estimate of the stun rate of the stunning
weapons and added two more item descriptions (Legendary Bow and
Bin Bow). Some typos were fixed.
(08/04/09) Added PayPal information for voluntary donations.
??? Still to come: ???
- Get a more precise value for the stunning success rate of the 'stun' weapons
- Clarify the conditions (after what events) the 'merchant items' are obtained
(first one is clear, the other four are unclear)
- Get certainty of what immunities the Legendary armor pieces can grant
Of course you're also welcome to help with the 'still to come' issues as well
as some of the other points that are still unclear in my guide.
As mentioned at the start, this version is based on the European version. While
it's not likely that the US/Jap version will have different items or locations,
I can't be sure. I will try to make sure when the US/Jap version is out.
For this, however, I will need some input from people who do have the US or Jap
version of the game and are willing to cross-check the locations. If YOU would
like to help out, please tell me so and I'll give you full credit, of course.
