-GUIDE VERSION NO.-
-------------------

v0.96: Added an important note about the Nintendo Switch version of the game.
Re-ordered the guide to put Treasure Chests at the top, as that information is
relevant to both versions, while Gold Keys only exist in the Wii version.

v0.95: I've added the items inside the treasure chests to the guide and updated
a few descriptions to provide more accurate directions.

v0.9: This is the near complete version of the guide. Directions to all the
hidden secrets are here. The only thing that remains to be added is the
information on what is in each treasure chest, though I considered that of
secondary importance.

--------------------------------
-ABOUT THIS GUIDE- [prologue000]
--------------------------------

===What is this guide?===
This is essentially a guide to all of the hidden collectibles in the Namco
Bandai Wii/Swich game Go Vacation. Go Vacation is a game with a LOT to do in
it--it has tons of minigames, places to explore, vehicles to ride, and things
to collect. But perhaps the trickiest part of the game is finding all of the
secret things hidden in the game's massive resorts. Finding all of the secret
things will unlock all of the game's clothing and all of the decorations you
can use in the Villa subgame, thus making getting all the secrets a part of
100% completion and making it so you have the maximum number of things to play
with in the game.

In the Wii and Switch version, Treasure Chests are scattered all over the map.
Treasure Chests, once found, unlock new clothes for your in-game avatar.
They're tucked away in the map in hard to get to or well-hidden locations.

In the Wii version ONLY, there are Stars. Stars are not physical things;
rather, they're awarded for completing certain tasks in the game, sort of like
achievements. Groups of similar stars unlock Gold Keys. Gold Keys can be
redeemed for rare and special furniture in the game's Villa mode. This guide
will tell you how to get all of the Stars and where all of the Treasure Chests
are hidden.

===Why did I also include a list of the bungee jump spots?===

In order to get every Gold Key in the game, you must also get every Silver Key.
Most of the Silver Keys are just minigame achievements, but you also get Silver
Keys for going to every Bungee Jump spot. The Bungee Jump spots are hidden in
the overworld, and some of them are as well-hidden as the Keys and Stars. Plus,
having a list of all the spots to look at can make it easier for you to tell
which spots you've visited and which you haven't.

===Photo spots are also part of 100% completion. Why doesn't this guide include
them?===

Fun fact: Because the game itself tells you where they are! If you go to Photo
Mode from the main menu and select a photo spot you haven't visited yet by
selecting an empty box, the game will show a map of the resort with an "X" over
the photographer's location! It won't tell you the time of day, but if you take
your own photo of the map screen, you can easily refer back to it to help you
find it yourself.

Also, I didn't feel like writing up directions to all of them.

===What about the "Help a Friend" overworld missions? Don't those also involve
hunting for hidden stuff?===

We'll see. I might update the guide to include those some day. For now, though,
I'm leaving them off since the game gives you lots of hints of where to go in
each of those missions, and you can't miss those hints.

===What do I mean when I keep mentioning "warp points?"===

If you pause the game by pressing the (-) button and go to the "Map" option,
you'll see a, well, map of your current resort. On that map are several icons;
selecting one with the joystick or your Wii Remote pointer will let you
fast-travel to that point. All the points are numbered, so if I say "warp point
N," find the icon with that number on it and select it to travel to that point
on the map.

===Why did I write this guide?===

I first heard about this game through the YouTube channel GameGrumps when they
played it as part of a Christmas special--something I imagine I'm not alone in.
To my surprise, I found myself really intrigued by the game! Not just because
the Grump hosts seemed to be having a good time, but because the game seemed to
have massive, freely explorable overworlds with tons of eyecatching scenery and
really neat things to do, like pulling tricks on grindrails! I got the game,
not for the minigames but because I wanted the feeling of exploring new areas,
and I was not disappointed. Not only did the game have big overworlds stuffed
to the gills with stuff, but the minigames didn't stink either!

However, I quickly noticed that the game had a ton of secret things in it, and
some of them were hidden very well. The game does provide hints as to the
locations of some of the stars via the blue balloons you can periodically find
in the resorts. However, what hint you get, and when you get it, is totally
random. It doesn't help that some of them are worded in confusing, riddle-like
ways. And there's no hint at all over where to look for the treasure chests!
The game does have ways of offering you hints when you get close to them, but
these hints aren't obvious--meaning both "the hints are subtle" and "it's not
clear that you're being given hints." There were times in the game where I got
frustrated hunting for the hidden secrets and wanted to just look their
locations up online. But alas! No guide existed!

I wanted to write this guide to offer help to anyone else who's played this
game and wanted a little nudge to help them find all the game's hidden goodies.
Plus, I enjoyed this game way, way more than I expected to, and writing this
guide gives me an excuse to keep playing it and enjoying the scenery even
though I've completed it 100%.

---------------------------------------------------------------------
-!!AN IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT THE NINTENDO SWITCH VERSION!!- [switch000]
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Nintendo Switch version makes some MAJOR CHANGES to the way the game's
progression. Gold Keys are NO LONGER FOUND; instead, the game uses a player
levels system with certain achievements granting experience points. As far as I
know so far, a number of the previous Star achievements no longer exist in the
game, though some (such as bringing a dog to all resorts) still remain in the
game. For the time being, I'm leaving the Wii-centric Gold Keys guide in with
the Treasure Chest guide relevant to both versions due to GameFAQs making it
easy to corroborate guides between game versions, but I may split them in the
future.

-TREASURE CHESTS GUIDE- [treasure000]
-------------------------------------

===A Helpful Hint on Treasure Hunting===

If you're having difficulty locating treasure chests, each version of the game
has its own way to assist you.

In the Wii version, bring a dog with you. Either talk to an NPC with a dog icon
over their head or hit the "Pets" icon when you're loading up your character to
bring a dog with you. When you are near the location of a secret, dogs will
bark and get a "!" icon over their head.

In the Switch version, the loading screen tips will periodically show you a map
with an X on it where a treasure can be found. Press the Capture [O] button to
snap a screenshot for reference later!

===MARINE TREASURES=== [seachest000]

1. Behind a house on the outer rim of Merry Bay.

Head to warp point 3 and U-turn around the tip of the boulder to your left, so
that you're on the beach that faces away from Merry Bay. You should spot the
treasure chest hanging out behind a beach house that's immediately in front of
you.

CONTAINS: Japanese Outfit. Contains a kimono and traditional wooden geta
sandals.

2. Jump off a cliff between two plants.

This one is pretty close to the cliff you need to jump off for the Marine
Resort's "Jump off a Cliff" star, but a little further on. Start from warp
point 1 and immediately turn around and head south. When you go past the
villas, you'll see a pathway in the grass that leads up a hill. Follow it, and
on your right, you'll soon see a green cliff jutting out of the pathway, and a
sword in a stone at the end at the path. But drive past that cliff for this
treasure chest. There's a big cleft in the path you'll have to drive past
first. Once you're beyond it, I recommend getting on foot. You'll notice two
conspicuously-placed plants right at the edge of the cliff. Walk off between
them to land on a small, hidden ledge with the treasure chest on it.

CONTAINS: Daring Swimsuit: Contains several swimsuits of different patterns.
For male characters, they take the form of Speedos. For female characters,
they're bikinis.

3. Jump off a cliff--on an ATV this time!

This one is located right next to the treasure chest above. If you go a little
ways further beyond the cliff with the sword and the conspicuous plants, you'll
spot a place in the cliff that looks like it has a chunk taken out of it and a
part that looks like a ramp. If you look into the ocean beyond that, you should
see the treasure chest icon on a small island just off the shore. Use the
ramplike stone as, well, a ramp to jump out to the island on your ATV and get
the treasure.

CONTAINS: Day at the Beach Outfit. A tight-fitting T-shirt and shorts. They
look like Spandex sports clothes. Also includes a pair of swim goggles, swim
shoes, and sports gloves.

4. In the ruins in the Mystic Jungle, in the back, through the door, and on top
of the old columns.

Head towards the ruins in the Mystic Jungle, the same ones that the man who
asks for your help finding his stuff is standing in front of. You can easily
get there by heading to warp point 6 and using your ATV. Pull a U-turn to your
right and jump across the river so that you're in the open cave. Follow the
cave until you can turn right onto the bridge. Go straight across the bridge
and through the opening in the rock to end up in front of the ruins. You'll see
the NPC who offers the water gun battle there, and the stairs up up the ruins
are right behind him. You should notice the door to the ruins, at the top of
the stairs, is open. Go through it, and you'll eventually come out into an area
that opens into the jungle. This area is full of broken pillars. Platform up
the pillars to reach the treasure chest on top of the pillar.

CONTAINS: Pirate Outfit. Contains a pirate coat, a pirate hat, an eyepatch, and
skull shoes.

5. In the Mystic Jungle, up a branch you can walk up.

Head to the front of the ruins again, using the same method as you did for the
treasure chest above. However, don't cross the river this time! Instead, turn
left and stay on the west side of the river. Keep driving along the path and
stick to it until, on your right, you see a fallen tree branch that's propped
against a big rock. Walk up it and follow the path of trunk bridges and paths
until you reach the treasure chest.

CONTAINS: Astronaut outfit. Contains, well, an astronaut suit, with gloves,
space boots, and a space helmet.

6. In a secret cove on the far north of the ocean.

Take your Marine Bike outside of Merry Bay into the open waters outside the big
Pac-Man shape. Warp point 3 will put you on the outside of the bay nicely.
Then, ride your bike far to the north, following the curve of the rocks to the
northeast. (Basically, you're driving back towards the mainland, but you're
doing it outside of the bay, not inside.) Once you reach the mainland itself,
you should see a small natural arch. Go through it to find a hidden beach! The
treasure chest should be staring you in the face once you get there.

CONTAINS: Frond Aloha Outfit. Hawaiian tourist shirts galore!

7. In the Crystal Caverns, near the back.

Here's the instructions on how to get to the crystal caves, copy and pasted
from the Path Finder star in the Marine Resort Master section above:

Head to warp point 6 and set your ATV as your gear. Turn sharply to your right
and jump across the river. Follow the cave until you can turn right onto a
bridge. Cross the bridge, then turn left and start heading up a steep slope.
Head up the slope, and stay along the right wall. You should go over a muddy
part of the ground and pass around the right of a thin, narrow, ramplike stone.
Once you leave the muddy area, you should come to a part of the road where the
right side is flat and the left side rises to become a ramp.

If you look to the right of the ramp, you should notice a lower wall than usual
which has an NPC standing on top of it. What you want to do is use the ramps to
jump over the wall the NPC is standing on. You need to jump that wall the NPC
is standing on. You have to hit the ramp at an angle to do it, but with luck,
you can clear the wall land in a clearing beyond it. Now, drive away from the
wall you jumped over towards the rocks in the back. Along that back wall, you
should find a fissure in the ground. Fall down in it, and voila! You're in the
crystal caves!

This one's hard to miss. Simply drive through the caves and keep you eyes on
the right-hand side. The big red and yellow treasure box icon will leap out at
you from above the glowing blue pool on the right. Jump up the step-like rocks
to reach it. They start on the far right side of the pool; swim out to them and
you'll be able to jump up to them. They're tucked away in a small cleft.

CONTAINS: Ninja Outfit. In addition to a ninja suit, it has a ninja hood,
armored gloves, and soft ninja shoes for all your sneaking needs.

===CITY TREASURES=== [citchest000]

Most of these treasures require jumps or grind rails to get to, so when hunting
these chests, I recommend leaving your Inline Skates or Skateboard on at all
times.

1. On top of the "small part" of La Vacanza Shopping Mall.

Heading to warp point 2 will put you right in front of the mall's smaller wing,
the one that looks a bit like an eye or an American football on the map.
Directly in front of you, on the right, there's a ramp against the side of the
building you can go up to get to the roof. Turn left once you go up the ramp
and you'll see the treasure box icon across the way from you, on the other
roof. Make a hard left, go across the wavy glass structure, and up the ramp.
Hey, a convenient red grind rail! But this won't take you directly to the
chest. Instead, this will lead you to a roof with some ramps on it. Take the
yellow-green ramp, but DON'T JUMP off the end. Just let it carry you naturally
across to the roof with the chest on it. Be sure to pull back on the control
stick to break once you hit the ground!

CONTAINS: Casual Outfit. Contains a newsboy hat and a set of outfits with
jackets over T-shirts. Also contains some sneakers, all of which have black
accents.

2. On top of the "big part" of La Vacanza Shopping Mall.

Go to warp point 2 again, but pass to the left around the eye-shaped wing of
the mall to get to the tall central complex. Ride up the wide gray ramp that
leads up into the walkways around the mall. Immediately turn left once you get
off the ramp to ride up a second ramp, which will put you in the central "hub"
area of the mall's walkways. You'll know it because it has a black floor. Take
the right-hand path of the intersection, which leads up a fairly steep ramp.
Take the left-hand turn once you get off the ramp, and follow it until you see
the wall to your right taper down to form a ramp. U-turn to the right to enter
this ramp and climb up it. Then, turn immediately left to see a ramp with a
bright red rim. Skate up it at a good speed and let your momentum carry you to
the rooftop where the treasure chest waits.

CONTAINS: Party Outfit. Contains a conical party hat and some goofy clown specs.

3. Ride the Speed Rail from the space shuttle.

To get to the space shuttle, head to warp point 4 and head east. The space
shuttle is the tall orange thing sticking out of the landscape on your right.
Get up close to the space shuttle, going beneath the walkway around it, and
you'll notice a speed rail going vertically up it. Jump on it and fly skyward!
DON'T JUMP OFF IT. Once you reach the top, you'll notice another blue speed
rail suspended in the air beneath you that heads to the top of a building. Aim
towards that rail and go to the building, but quickly hop OFF the rail to land
on the roof. This is somewhat tricky! The chest is on that roof.

CONTAINS: The Wild Outfit. Contains a leopard outfit consisting of a spotted
bodysuit with a tail, spotted gloves, paw shoes, and of course, a big ol' cat
ear headband.

4. On top of the UFOs.

Head to the UFO-shaped buildings on the eastern side of the restort. They're
pretty much due east of the Information Center (warp point 1). If you head into
the walkways surrounding the buildings and go towards the center, you'll find a
speed rail that leads directly up the building. Take it. Once you get up top,
you'll notice a treasure box on a small platform. Also, the platform to your
left with a speed strip on it is the cliff you need to jump off for the Big
Ball of Painful Memories key.

CONTAINS: Pajamas. Contains a pom-pomed nightcap, striped pajamas, and slippers.

5. Inside Track and Soul Hotel.

Track and Soul Hotel is the big building on the farthest left point on the map,
shaped like a tilted square. If you take warp point 4, turn around, and follow
the westward road, you'll wind up there eventually. If you go up any of the
many steps around the front of building, you'll end up in its orange-colored
outdoor lobby area. Tucked away in a little eastern corner of the outdoor
lobby, you'll find the treasure chest.

CONTAINS: The Shop-Keeper Outfit. Contains two bandanas, one plain and one
patterned, as well as a shirt with an apron that says SHOP on it.

6. Near the Wheel Slider "Sidewinder," in the corner of the little park nearby.

Just to the right of Track and Soul Hotel, on its northeast facing, there's a
little park full of grass and trees. Take warp point 4, turn around, and follow
the tracks of the trolley card west until you see a little grassy area on your
right. Go up the stairs there to the upper level of the park. Hidden away in
the bottom right corner of the upper half of the park, behind some bushes,
you'll find the treasure chest.

CONTAINS: The Helper outfit. Despite the name, this is a clown suit. Contains a
jester's cap with bells, a striped bodysuit, and big ol' clown shoes.

7. On top of the big building behind the whale statue.

Head to warp point 3 and go due north. Directly in front of you, you should see
a big white building with black windows and sloped sides. That building has
very obvious speed strips running up it. Hop on one of those strips and ride to
the top of the building. The treasure chest is on a little raised platform near
the back of the building.

CONTAINS: The Celebrity outfit. For boys, it contains a top hat; for ladies
it's a rose hairband. Its outfit is a tuxedo for guys and an evening gown for
dolls. Dudes get classy dress shoes; gals get pumps.

===SNOW TREASURES=== [snochest000]

Many of these treasures are easier to spot at night. During the day, the Snow
Resort is mostly white and gray, but at night, it lights up and glows many
different colors! Many places where treasures are hidden will have different
colors around them at night. This makes it easier to spot a number of them.

1. Right near warp point 4, behind you and uphill a little ways.

Head to warp point 4 and turn about 90 degrees to the right. You should be
pointed uphill. Go up that hill and hug the right wall. The treasure chest is
in a little alcove that's right there. It glows red at night.

CONTAINS: T-shirt Outfit. That might sound silly, but this is full of T-shirts
over long-sleeved shirts. You'll get three different designs.

2. In an out-of-the way cave on the path that leads to the jump between the
snake heads.

Warp to warp point 12 at the very top of the mountain and take the right fork.
Once you're on that path, stay as far to the left as possible. Take every
left-hand fork you come across as you go down the mountain. You should be in a
very narrow path. Once you come to a wider area with a polar bear roaming
around in it, keep your eyes peeled. There should be a small jump a little ways
further down the path that leads into a cave with a yellow glow. Jump into it
to find the chest.

CONTAINS: The Jumpsuit Outfit. Contains a BUNCH of skiing jumpsuits--six to be
exact.

3. In front of Hotel Yantail, near the Ice Fishing minigame.

Travel to warp point 6, which will put you in front of three paths. Take the
middle one--it's just to the left of the giant brick arch that says "TWIN
ANACONDAS." Simply traveling down it will put you at the frozen pond where you
can ice fish. Hotel Yantail is in the far western part of this clearing. It has
a big sign saying its name, and the treasure box icon will make it easy to find
the chest.

CONTAINS: Doggy Outfit. Contains a dog-head hood, a full-body dog jumpsuit, and
paw gloves and shoes. Who doesn't want to be an adorable little puppy sometimes?

4. Underneath the Christmas tree in Bear Forest.

Santa left you a present underneath the giant Christmas tree! Or, well, near
it, anyway. To get there, head to warp point 14 and take the left-hand path,
which leads to the Dancing Frog trail. Head down the bumpy mogul course, and at
the bottom, go through the archway that says "Bear Forest." Travel downhill
through the forst; you want to stay slightly to the right of the middle. It's a
bit easy to get lost in here, but you're looking for an opening between two
rocks that has polar bears in it. If you're going between two rocks and don't
see polar bears, turn around and try a different opening in the forest.

Once you find the path with the bears, follow it, taking the fork that has
snowboard rails on it. Once you're down that fork, hug the left wall! You
should see a bunch of sponsor banners and signs. They actually curve left into
a little uphill turn. That turn will put you right beneath the Christmas Tree!
The treasure box is by the picnic tables beneath it.

CONTAINS: Snowman Outfit. Contains a full snowman head, a snowman bodysuit with
scarf, knitted mittens, and cross-laced boots.

5. Along the Fox Roost trail, in a left-hand fork.

Head to warp point 14 and head towards Fox's Roost. It's the right-hand path
beneath the big brick arch that says... Fox's Roost. Simply follow the path
until you see a snowboard rail that rises high up off the ground and a big
stone overhang. It's much easier to spot at night because the area is
illuminated in red and green lights. Go UNDER the snowboard rail to the
left-hand path, the one that, if it's nighttime, will be glowing orange. Follow
this path and hug the left. The treasure chest is in a little alcove there.

Contains: The Santa Claus Outfit! It's exactly what you think it is. Contains a
Santa suit (or dress, for girls), a hat, furry gloves, and fuzzy boots.

6. In the Lava World, near the very end.

First, you need to get to the Lava World. Here's the directions:

Go to Warp Point 10 and head downhill in the direction you're immediately
facing. (You'll need to turn right ever so slightly.) This should put you in
the Cosmos Area, which is full of stone columns. Head down into the area
beneath the columns themselves (the cave-like area) and go as far to the east
as possible (which will be on your left if you're facing downhill). Hug that
eastern wall and head downhill. As you go along the wall, you should notice a
small hole in the wall. Go inside of it and keep going. Eventually, you'll find
yourself inside of a cave. Hooray! You've found the Lava World!

When you finally make it there, you'll notice a fairly linear path of ice
through the cave. Follow along it. When you get to the part where there's a
thin bridge of stone and ice that leads through a small archway, go AROUND it
to a path beneath the bridge. Following this path should take you through a
cave full of glowing mushrooms and lead you past the Bungee Jump spot down
there, into an area with several cracked platforms you MUST jump between. VERY
CAREFULLY follow along the path and jump between them. At the very end, a
treasure chest will be waiting for you.

Contains: Penguin Outfit. Has a cute penguin hood, a penguin bodysuit, flipper
gloves, and birdy feet shoes.

7. Nestled into a glowing red alcove near warp point 11.

This one's kind of in the middle of nowhere, but I find the most obvious way to
it is via warp point 11. Warp to point 11, get on your Snowmobile, then turn
around and start chugging uphill. Head to the right around the big stone just
behind you. Once you're past the stone, stick to the left wall. Crest the big
snow hill directly in front of you, and you should see a glowing red cave in
the wall far in front of you. Move closer and the treasure chest icon should
pop into being. Drive up to it and claim your chest.

Contains: The Frumpy outfit. Contains a huge selection (6 pieces) of really
puffy and fat snow clothes. The kind that promise you will NOT be getting
cold... in exchange for looking like the Michelan Man.

===MOUNTAIN TREASURES=== [mtnchest000]

1. On top of Shanghar Castle.

Here's the instructions on how to get on top of the castle, copy and pasted
from the Path Finder section in the Mountain Resort Master key:

This one has to be done on foot, so I hope you're ready for some platforming!
Head to Shanghar Castle in the middle of the lake. Taking Warp Point 1 and
heading west will get you there as long as you follow the road. The bridge to
the castle will be on your right. You'll notice some pathways that wind around
the castle--take the left one. The path should end on an observation platform;
walk towards it. However, look at the right wall on your way up (it may help to
swing the camera around). You should notice a flat platform jutting out of the
wall on the tower just after the archway. Jump to it! You'll notice a trail of
platforms you can jump between. Finagling the camera is somewhat tough, but
jump between the platforms until you get to the roof. When you reach the roof,
you'll see a small ramp to your left you can walk up to some more platforms. At
the end of those you can jump onto a slanted roof, but across the way, you
should see a ramp winding up a tower. Walk up that to get to the watchtower
where the secret awaits.

Up at the top, you'll find the treasure box.

CONTAINS: Riding Outfit. Contains a soft straw hat, a fancy, well, riding coat
(Google Image Search "Dressage" if you don't know what that looks like), two
sets of riding gloves, and some nice shoes.

2. Fall down a hole on the bridge on Ouroboros Peak Road.

There's a bridge that crosses Ouroboros Peak Road, the twisty road in the
middle of the map that runs across the mountain. The easiest way to get there
is to go to warp point 4 and then turn immediately around. Ouroboros Peak Road
is the wide, gray-brown, mottled-looking trail that goes uphill. (It's to the
right of a small white house; you can get there by hugging the right-hand wall
and taking the first right.) Follow that road on your Gear of choice, going
along the winding mountain path, until you reach the bridge. In that that
bridge, along its side and near one of the ends of the bridge, there's a hole.
Fall down the hole to find the treasure chest.

CONTAINS: Cowboy Outfit. Contains a ten-gallon hat, a rootin'-tootin' leather
vest, and fancy embroidered boots.

3. On the highest peak of the mountain.

Warp to the very top of the mountain (warp point 8). Now, turn around and head
down the path that leads away from the top. If you hug the left wall, you'll
see a ledge you can jump up to right next to a dark stone covered in moss. Jump
up the ledge and follow it up. The treasure waits at the very tippy-top of the
trail.

CONTAINS: Magician Outfit. Contains a robe and wizard hat. Also some pointy
shoes.

4. Hidden behind Otti McRae falls, near the top.

Warp to the top of the falls by going to warp point 7 and turn immediately
around. There's a dark hole in the rock in front of you and to the left. Go
into it and start following the path through it downwards. As you approach the
falls, you should see the red and yellow treasure box icon. It's across several
platforms that go right behind the waterfall, which you should be able to see.
Follow down the path until you're close to the platforms, then jump across them
to the chest.

CONTAINS: Royal Outfit. Be the king or queen you always wanted to be with this
outfit, which contains a crown, a royal robe, pointy shoes, and embroidered
gloves.

5. Hidden behind Otti McRae Falls, near the bottom.

Head northwest on the bridge that passes in front of the falls (if you head to
warp point 7 and jump from the top of the falls, you can land on the bridge if
you aim it right) and keep to the right. Go up the hill to the right at the end
of the bridge. Eventually, you'll see a little viewing area for the falls with
a sign. There's a pathway back there that leads behind the falls and straight
to the chest.

CONTAINS: Hero Outfit. Despite the name implying tights and capes, this makes
you into a knight in shining armor. Contains a knight helmet, a suit of armor,
and armored gloves and shoes.

6. In the middle of the lake, on the tall island.

Head to warp point 5, because the tall island in the lake is hard to miss from
here--just look out at the lake, and you're sure to see the unusually tall
island with the red and yellow chest icon on it. Kayak or swim out to it; if
you circle around it, you should see a place to jump up onto the island from.
It looks like a cleft in the rock. Platform up and enjoy the treasure chest and
the view.

CONTAINS: The Trekking Outfit. Contains a full 5 jacket and cargo pant
ensembles, with different patterns like plaid and camo. Also includes two pairs
of hiking boots. Sadly, does not contain a Starfleet uniform.

7. In the tower in Tondeyonne Ruins.

My personal bane, the last treasure chest in the game I found: Warp to warp
point 6 and cross the bridge right next to you, a little to your left. This
should put you in the Tondeyonne Ruins. Hug the right wall and look for a
yellow patch of flowers on the ground. Next to those flowers should be a wall
you can jump over when you're traveling on foot. (A dog is very helpful here.)
Jump over the wall and follow along the path on the other side. This will lead
you inside the tower in the ruins. Climb up the spiralling ramp there to find
the treasure chest.

CONTAINS: River Outfit. Contains a kayaking helmet, an outfit with a life vest,
and two pairs of kayaking gloves.

-GOLD KEYS GUIDE- [goldkeys000]
-------------------------------

===Marine Resort Master=== [seares000]

GREAT PERFORMANCE [seares001]:

i. Jump between the big hills on the back side of Merry Bay on an ATV.

On your map, near the back of Merry Bay, you should see two big hills jutting
out of the beach, directly opposite the "mouth" of the big Pac-Man shape. (The
quickest way to get there is to go to warp point 3 and do an about-face. You
can then drive south, slowly turning right until you go around the hill.) On
the north rock, there's a ramp on the east (bay-facing) side that you can ride
up. Ride to the top of the hill and jump from the larger rock to the smaller
rock for a Star.

ii. Jump over the U-shaped stone in the northeast part of Merry Bay on a Marine
Bike.

Head to warp point 2--the one in the middle of Merry Bay--and be on your Marine
Bike. Turn slightly to the right, so you're driving into the Pac-Man shape's
upper jaw. You should see a collection of rocks jutting out of the bay,
slightly away from the shoreline. Drive around to the east (right) side of this
collection of rocks. The big rock in the middle is U-shaped. Use the
ramp-shaped stone directly in front of the middle shape to jump through the
middle and earn a Star.

iii. Jump off the wooden ramp in the ATV park right above the boat dock, on
your ATV, and land on the other side.

This one's pretty tricky. To get to the ramp, first warp to the ATV Park (warp
point 7), be on your ATV, and head down the right-hand path, the one that goes
through a small tunnel. Keep following along this path. You should go over a
big, steep jump, and then past a narrow ramp sticking out of the middle of a
muddy path. Once you pass those two landmarks, the wooden ramp will be on your
right in an area just past a scenic overlook. You need to build up quite a
decent amount of speed to successfully jump up this ramp and make it across the
gap.

iv. Jump over the bridge in front of the Mystic Jungle's Waterfall on a Marine
Bike.

Go towards the waterfall in the Mystic Jungle on your Marine Bike. To get there
on a bike, warp to Warp Point 6--the one in the Wild Hills off-road park--and
be on your Marine Bike. Immediately turn around from the direction you start
in. You should be facing the boat/docks. Now drive past the boat and into the
narrow channel. Go left at the fork--if you don't see the left-hand turn, hug
the left wall--and turn left again when you exit the tunnel. You should be on
the river in the Mystic Jungle now. When you're in the river facing the
waterfall area, right before the bridge, there's a tiny stone jutting out of
the right-hand side of the river. If you ride over that stone and jump at the
tip of it, you can jump clean over the bridge and earn a star!

SWAM OVER 6000 FEET: [seares002]:

Exactly as it says--you'll have to do a lot of swimming, with no Gear. I
recommend going back and forth across Merry Bay, since you can just hold the
control stick forward and don't have to pay much attention to the game while
you do so.

PATH FINDER [seares003]:

Despite being in the first resort, this is quite possibly the trickiest secret
area to find. Head to warp point 6 and set your ATV as your gear. Turn sharply
to your right and jump across the river. Follow the cave until you can turn
right onto a bridge. Cross the bridge, then turn left and start heading up a
steep slope. Head up the slope, and stay along the right wall. You should go
over a muddy part of the ground and pass around the right of a thin, narrow,
ramplike stone. Once you leave the muddy area, you should come to a part of the
road where the right side is flat and the left side rises to become a ramp.

If you look to the right of the ramp, you should notice a lower wall than usual
which has an NPC standing on top of it. What you want to do is use the ramps to
jump over the wall the NPC is standing on. You have to hit the ramp at an angle
to do it, but with luck, you can clear the wall land in a clearing beyond it.
Now, drive away from the wall you jumped over towards the rocks in the back.
Along that back wall, you should find a fissure in the ground. Fall down in it,
and voila! You're in the crystal caves! Be sure to visit at least once in the
evening so you can get you picture taken down there!

===City Resort Master=== [citres000]

GREAT PERFORMANCE [citres001]:

i. Grind on the back of the whale statue in the middle of the town after
jumping from the pyramid-shaped building.

The giant whale statue is directly east of the starting area, which you can
reach by going to warp point 1. You can easily grind on its tail by jumping
behind it. However! This star is picky, and just ANY old grind won't do. You
actually need to jump on this whale's back from the roof of the building behind
it! If you go around the side of the building due east of the whale (you can
also go to warp point 3 and head north), you'll see speed strips on the side of
the building. Grind up those to get on the roof. (There also happens to be a
treasure box up there.) On the roof, you'll see a ramp. Jump from the ramp and
land your jump on the whale's back to earn the Star.

ii. Jump over the fountain in the La Vacanza Shopping Mall.

Go to warp point 3 and travel directly north. This should put you in the middle
of La Vacanza Shopping Mall--the eye-shaped cluster of buildings in the lower
portion of the map. You should see a fountain there, which has two ramps on
either side of it. Using either the roller skates or the skateboard, roll up
the ramps and jump over the fountain. Simple as that!

iii. Jump between the poles of the Track and Soul Skate Park entrace sign.

For this star, you need to jump between the poles sticking out of the entrance
gate to the Track and Soul Skate Park, but getting high enough to do so will
take some doing. Get on your skateboard or skates and head to the Track and
Soul Hotel--it's the westmost building on the map, the one in the little pointy
area you see on the upper left of the map. The quickest way there is to go to
warp point 4 and head west along the street. Go behind the building and head
for its northern point. You should be on Giant's Heel Street. Now, turn around
and face the corner of the hotel. You should see a set of steps with three
grind rails on it. The middle rail is a speed rail. Take it and jump off the
end of it to get to a roof area on the hotel. Follow along it and you should
see a ramp near the end. Use this ramp to jump over the sign and between the
poles. Be careful not to jump too high when you're doing this! You need to
actually pass between the two poles or the game won't count it.

Yes, the City Resort only has three Great Performance stars while the other
areas have four. Don't ask me why this is.

GRINDED OVER 1500 FT FLAWLESSLY [citres002]:

This one is quite tough, and the only way to get it down is through practice.
To obtain it, you need to start riding the series of grind rails on Giant's
Heel Street and follow it all the way through to the end. The grind rail series
begins on the very leftmost corner of the map, in the little pointed area that
sticks out. There's no quick warp to get here, sadly--just follow the edge of
the map until you arrive. From there, you can hop off a ramp that will lead you
to the first of many grind rails. The line is not continuous; you'll have to
jump between them. Practice is key to riding this tricky series of rails all
the way to the end.

One piece of advice I can give you is that, contrary to what you might expect,
you shouldn't jump right at the end of a rail. This will often give you too
much momentum, and you'll overshoot the next rail. Instead, jump a little bit
before. This will generally help you "lock on" to the next rail a bit better.
In fact, some rails are easier to transition between if you don't jump at all.
Unfortunately, some rails MUST be jumped between, and it can be hard to gauge
which is which. Again, practice is key.

PATH FINDER [citres003]:

This one's a piece of cake to find, and is very easy to accidentally stumble
into. Go to the UFOs--the tall towers with disc-shaped structures on top of
them. An easy way to get there is to warp to the starting point, warp point 1,
and go directly east. You should notice that the walkways beneath the UFOs have
holes in them, or ramps going down. Jump down a hole or go down a ramp. Tada!
You've found the color-changing floor. There's nothing down there but a star,
but at least it makes a great stage for all your groovy disco fantasies.

===Snow Resort Master=== [snores000]

GREAT PERFORMANCE [snores001]:

i. Jump from Mr. Sun.

Go to the village on the far western side of the mountain. If you take warp
point 5 or 14, you'll be right in front of it--just turn around and you'll be
facing it if you took point 14. Head into the village and look for a big hotel.
It's very easy to spot at night because there's a photo op right in front of
it! Go up the steps of the hotel and make your way behind it to find a secret
path. Follow that path south and you'll spot a tunnel in the rock. Going
through that tunnel will spit you out of the mouth of Mr. Sun, so jump through
his big fat grin and earn your star!

ii. In your Snowmobile, jump over the three buildings in the middle of
Cooritookus Village.

Smack-dab in the middle of Cooritookus Village, you'll find three buildings in
the middle of the street with a very conspicuous ramp behind them. Build up
speed in your Snowmobile and leap over all three of them! If you go to warp
point 13, it is very easy to follow the paved road in front of you down to the
village, and your angle means it'll be very difficult to miss the ramp you need
to jump.

iii. Hop between the narrow rocks in the Cosmos Area.

Seeing the hints to jump between the rocks might lead you to think they're
talking about the big, flat-topped rocks in the Cosmos Area, but this one's
actually a bit more well-hidden than that. Head to Warp Point 5, which should
put you at the brick arch for Wild Boar Rush. Now do an about-face and turn
directly around. You should be facing up a broad uphill slope. Ride up that
slope and stick close to the right wall of it. You should eventually come upon
an opening in the rock that turns fairly steeply downhill. Take it. You should
be looking out at two narrow pieces of rock with a hole between them. Jump them
to earn this Star. It's a pretty tricky jump.

iv. Jump between the two "snake heads" in the Rose/Daisy areas on your
Snowboard or Skiis.

This MUST be performed with the Snowboard or Skiis--the Snowmobile won't work
here! Head to the very top of the mountain (warp point 12) and take the
right-hand fork. Soon, you'll see three more forks in front of you. Take the
middle one. Then, hug the left wall. You'll soon see a small cave heading into
the mountain. Head into it. Inside, you will find a VERY treacherous thin
pathway stretching over a deep pit. Very carefully ride across it--the pit IS
bottomless, and WILL drop you outside the cave if you fall in! At the very end,
you'll find the "tongue" of the snake. Successfully jump off the end of one
"tongue" and onto the other to earn your Star.

HELPED 10 PEOPLE [snores002]:

Sometimes as you're walking around the Snow Resort, you'll see people trapped
in the snow. They'll have a yellow icon above them that looks like the icons
you see for minigames or for talking to NPCs, showing two hands. Walk up to
them and press the A button to help them up. Do this 10 times to get the star.
Unfortunately, they spawn randomly, so you'll just have to keep your eyes open
for them. However, they tend to spawn more in areas with lots of sharp turns;
I've noticed they have a higher chance of appearing in the Cosmos Area.

PATH FINDER [snores003]:

Go to Warp Point 10 and head downhill in the direction you're immediately
facing. (You'll need to turn right ever so slightly.) This should put you in
the Cosmos Area, which is full of stone columns. Head down into the area
beneath the columns themselves (the cave-like area) and go as far to the east
as possible (which will be on your left if you're facing downhill). Hug that
left wall and head downhill. As you go along the wall, you should notice a
small hole in the wall. Go inside of it and keep going. Eventually, you'll find
yourself inside of a cave. Hooray! You've found the Lava World! There's photo
ops in here, one in the day and at night, as well as one of the Bungee Jumping
spots. Be careful on some of the narrow pathways in here, as they do lead to
bottomless pits! (But they'll just warp you back to land, so no biggie.)

===Mountain Resort Master=== [mtnres000]

GREAT PERFORMANCE [mtnres001]:

i. Jump onto the boat in the lake on your Off-Roader.

Although there are several places around the lake where it's POSSIBLE to drive
your Off-Roader in such a way that it lands on the boat, the game would really
prefer it if you'd do it in one specific spot. I've only had luck getting the
star by driving my Off-Roader off this spot, though I'm not sure if it's
because the game is hard-coded to only accept jumps from this spot or if my
landing from this spot was nice enough for the game to register it as
successful.

"This spot" is a little ramp on the far side of the lake from where you start.
Warp to the Info Desk at warp point 1 and get in your Off-Roader. Drive off in
the direction you're facing, and follow the white paved path--do NOT follow the
train tracks; they veer away from the lake! You will eventually cross a bridge.
Turn left as soon as you cross the bridge, leaving the white path, and
immediately cross a second bridge. Right near that red bridge that crosses in
front of the waterfall, there's a small lip of stone that looks like a ramp
sticking out near the edge of the lake. Wait for the sightseeing boat to pass
by the ramp and launch off onto the boat.

Since the Off-Roader has no "Jump" command, you'll need to build up quite a bit
of speed to make it all the way to the boat. It helps to back up quite a
distance from the ramp before shooting off; I would recommend going back far
enough that you're just on the other side of the paved path. Unfortunately,
thanks to the slightly wonky camera (and a pair of really obnoxious trees), it
can be hard to see the boat approach, and the speed you need to build up can
make the timing on this one tricky. I would recommend waiting for the tip of
the boat to get past the end of the ramp before going, since it's easiest to
land well on the flat platform at the back of the boat.

ii. On your Horse, jump between roofs in the small area near the train tracks,
on the far western side of the map.

Warp to warp point 3 and saddle up on your horse. You'll be right next to the
train station--start following the train tracks north. You'll go around a big
bolder and into a narrow area where you'll see three houses with sloped roofs.
The last one in line is the first you'll have to jump on to. It's easiest to
jump up if you first head into the train tunnel nearby, turn around, and use
the tunnel to build up speed first. Don't forget to hold Z so your horse
sprints! Jump from one house to the next, and jump off the final house to claim
your Star.

iii. Jump your Off-Roader clean over the house with a ramp next to in the
village.

Head to warp point 4, grab your Off-Roader, and turn directly around. You'll
see several houses lined up. The rightmost of these houses has a long, thin

ramp up against one side of it. Simply use this ramp to COMPLETELY CLEAR the
house in one jump. If you take your Off-Roader and back it completely up
against the neighboring house, you should be able to accumulate the necessary
speed.

iv. Drive an Off-Roader up the bumpy path near the mountain.

On the central path that leads up Shanghar Mountain, there's a very steep path
that's also very bumpy. If you go to warp point 6 and do an about-face, you'll
pretty much be right there. Hop in your Off-Roader and prove your might by
driving straight up that baby! There's no real secret trick to this one, just
perserverance. However, it helps not to attempt to drive directly up, but to
move in a more zigzag pattern up the bumps in the path.

A LAP AROUND THE TRACK [mtnres002]:

The track in question here is, of course, the train track. For this key, you
need to walk or ride along the entire length of the track! Starting from the
resort's information desk (warp point 1, in other words), simply walk or ride
along the track, traveling in the same direction as the train (clockwise, or
west). I did it with a Horse, but I believe any Gear will work. The main thing
about this star is that you can't stray too far from the track while you're
doing it. You do have a little bit of leeway, but going too far off will stop
you from getting the star. You also MUST start from the start point near the
information desk! If you went around the whole track but didn't get the star,
then you likely either went too far off the track or didn't begin your trip
near enough to the beginning.

To kill two stars with one horse, do this in conjunction with the Sprint 7500
Feet Flat star from the Mountain Gear Master key (see below).

PATH FINDER [mtnres003]:

This one has to be done on foot, so I hope you're ready for some platforming!
Head to Shanghar Castle in the middle of the lake. Taking Warp Point 1 and
heading west will get you there as long as you follow the road. The bridge to
the castle will be on your right. You'll notice some pathways that wind around
the castle--take the left one. The path should end on an observation platform;
walk towards it.
Walk up that to get to the watchtower
where the star awaits. Enjoy the view and the treasure chest, too!

===Marine Gear Master=== [seagear000]

If you're just trying to get the required trick score and you're not looking to
max your points for one trick, the C-button tricks are key for both the Marine
Bike and the ATV. They have relatively short animations, making it possible to
chain together many of them in one trick, they don't involve lots of spinning
so are easy to land, and they are worth a lot points-wise. These are performed
by holding down the C button, a direction on the D-pad, and shaking the Wii
Remote. So, to do the Helicopter trick in both the Marine Bike and the ATV,
simultaneously hold down the C button and the "up" direction on the D pad, and
shake the Wii remote with both held. Doing a minimum of three of these tricks
in one jump is sufficient to earn the Star for each Gear.

MARINE BIKE: 140-POINT TRICK COMBO [seagear001]

For the Marine Bike, you'll need to jump off one of the ramps in Merry Bay and
get decent height off it. As soon as you jump, start chaining together three
C-button tricks. Unlike the ATV, the Marine Bike only has Thunderbolt and
Helicopter as C-button tricks, but as long as you include both in your jump,
you should earn the points just fine. So you could possibly do the following:

-Thunderbolt (C + D-down or D-left + shake)
-Thunderbolt (C + D-down or D-left + shake)
-Helicopter (C + D-up or D-right + shake)

MARINE BIKE: CLEARED FLAG POSTS [seagear002]:

The flag posts are located in the northern part of the ocean outside Merry Bay.
Drive through them all in sequence to earn this star. You'll hear a "ting"
sound when you're doing it right--if you don't hear the "ting," try going at
the flag posts from the other end of the track. You also don't have to go very
fast. Feel free to slow down if you feel like you're missing flagposts too
easily.

ATV: 140-POINT TRICK COMBO [seagear003]

Getting a high enough trick score with the ATV requires hopping off a tall
enough starting point. I recommend the big rocks at the back of Merry Bay, the
same ones you jump between for the first "Great Performance" star. (Head to
that section if you're not sure which rocks I mean.) Jump off the tall rock,
but instead of jumping straight ahead, veer off to the left and aim for the
beach. As before, while in the air, chain together three different C-button
tricks. So, for example, you could do the following:

-Helicoper (C + D-up + shake)
-Lazy Boy (C + D-left + shake)
-Cliffhanger (C + D-down + shake)

As long as you land the jump, the point bonus you get for successfully landing
should get you the points you need.

===City Gear Master=== [citgear000]

Doing jumps and flips alone isn't the most reliable way to rack up a high trick
score here. Although some of the halfpipes in Track and Soul Skatepark can get
you mad air (that's what the kids say, right? "Mad air"?), getting a trick
score over 300 off this air can be very unreliable. The bonus you get when you
land seems to be based on how long you were in the air, but because that can
vary, it's hard to find a combination of tricks that will reliably give you a
high score. Grinding rails is the way to go. If you can do the series of tricky
rails near Giant's Heel Street (see "GRINDED OVER 1500 FT FLAWLESSLY" above),
then you're set--just riding the rails can get you to the magic number.

If you don't want to do the whole rail series, you can mount the series of
rails about halfway down the street. There's a ramp that will let you jump up
onto a single Speed Rail there. When you reach the very end of the final rail,
the one that dips way down low before zooming back up again and throwing you
off high in the air, do a single C-button trick (Hold the C button, press a
direction on the D-pad, and then shake the Wii Remote), and then do no more
tricks so you can guarantee you land safely. You should earn plenty of points.

INLINE SKATES: 300-POINT TRICK COMBO [citgear001]

Ride the Giant's Heel Street rails the whole way on your inline skates.

SKATEBOARD: 300-POINT TRICK COMBO [citgear002]

Ride the Giant's Heel Steet rails the whole way on your skateboard.

===Snow Gear Master=== [snogear000]

Bad at tricks? Rejoice! You won't have to do any of them for this key!

There are two "race" stars that require you to go between two places "without
crashing." By "crash," they mean any time you lose control of your Gear and the
little lady appears at the top of the screen, telling you to waggle the Wiimote
to gain control of yourself. Merely bumping into things does not count as
crashing unless it causes you to temporarily lose control.

SKI/SNOWBOARD: CLEAR FLAG POSTS [snogear001]:

The flagposts are on Wild Boar Rush; taking warp point 5 puts you right on top
of them. Ride down the slope on your ski or snowboard and pass through them all
to earn this star. You'll hear a "ting" sound whenever you clear a flagpost
right. This is somewhat trickier than the flag posts in the Marine Resort due
to gravity being in control of your speed.

SNOWMOBILE: NO CRASHES BASE TO PEAK (5:00) [snogear002]:

The key to pulling this one off is to stay on the "middle path" that heads up
the mountain. It's pretty easy to see on your minimap--it's the very wide area
that runs vaguely up the middle of the mountain. You need to start from the
Information Desk (warp point 1) to begin this, but you will NOT be facing the
middle path to start--you need to veer left a little. If you follow the
flagposts backwards up the mountain, they'll lead you up a good path. When you
go through the archway, take the steep-looking path--it might seem tough to
climb, but it keeps you on that middle path. When you get to the Sunflower
Area, stay to the left. Even when the path gets narrow, keep going uphill! As
long as you don't perform any gratuitous tricks, you should be fine and
crash-free.

I can't say the same for any skiiers you might collide with, though.

SNOW TUBE: NO CRASHES PEAK TO BASE (3:40) [snogear003]:

This is slightly trickier than the above, since the gravity-driven,
difficult-to-control nature of the snow tube means crashing is more likely.
Hitting a wall in the air will almost certainly lead to a crash. When you start
the race from warp point 12, I recommend the right-hand fork--the left one has
patches of ice with a nasty habit of sending you rocketing straight for the
wall. Once you take the right fork, take the left-hand path (the lower one) and
follow it until you head through the small cave. It's a bit of a narrow ride,
but if you can make it without crashing, you'll be on that wide, middle path
through the center of the resort again, and it should be smooth sailing from
there. Er, tubing.

===Mountain Gear Master=== [mtngear000]

HORSE: SPRINTED 7500 FT FLAT [mtngear001]:

To earn this Star, you need to sprint continuously with your horse for over
7500 feet. To sprint, first get up to speed by shaking the Wii Remote. You do
NOT have to waggle it repeatedly--a few gentle shakes will do it. About one a
second should be enough. Then, hold down the C button on the Nunchuck to make
the horse sprint. Keep holding down the button and periodically waggling the
Wii Remote to maintain your sprint. Sprint continously for 7500 feet to earn
this Star. A good place to do this is along the train tracks while you're
aiming for the Lap Around the Track star (see above). If you're worried about
running into the train, the footpath that winds around the lake is a nice place
to do this too.

KAYAK: RACE FROM PEAK TO BASE (3:25) [mtngear002]:

Honestly, if you can waggle the Wiimote for three minutes without getting
tired, you're set. Unlike the Snow Resort "race" stars, crashing won't
invalidate your time here. Just warp to the mountain top (warp point 8), choose
the Kayak gear on warp, and head down the river.

CARPOOLED 10 TIMES [mtngear003]:

Everyone in your party can drive their own Off-Roader if they want, but it
saves gas to ride together! To earn this star, simply have multiple people ride
in one Off-Roader. An easy way to do this is to have an NPC character come with
you (see "Invited Buddy 10 Times" if you're not sure how to get an NPC to play
with you). Warp to any location on the map, and set your gear to the Off-Roader
while you set their gear to Walk/Swim. When you drive near them, you should see
the option to pick them up appear. Press (-) when the prompt appears to pick
them up. Then get out of the off-roader to make them get out as well. Lather,
rinse, repeat until the star appears.

===Everyone's Friend=== [bff000]

If you want a Gold Key fast to invest in some of that Gold Key swag, this is a
good one to do, as it's extremely simple and takes very little time to complete.

INVITED BUDDY 10 TIMES [bff001]:

Every once in a while when you're walking around, you'll encounter an NPC with
a red and yellow icon over its head that looks like a sideways face. Very
often, they're based on the Miis on your Wii. If you talk to them, you can
invite them to play with you. They'll follow you around and join you in
mini-games. Simply do this 10 times to earn this Star! This is easiest to do
once you have your Villa unlocked. Your Villa will always have 3 NPCs hanging
around for you to play with. If you go back to the main menu, you can remove
them from your party to pick up more friends.

BROUGHT DOG TO ALL RESORTS & VILLAS [bff002]:

This is easy--all you need to do is visit every resort, including the villa,
with a dog following you! To get a dog, you can either speak to an NPC with a
dog icon over their head to have a random dog automatically given to you, OR
you can start the game up from the main menu. After you select your character,
when you're on the "Party Management" screen with four windows, select the icon
in the bottom left with a dog face on it to make a dog character or select a
dog an NPC had previously given to you. Now just go to every resort and the
villa. Presto! The easiest star ever!

SPOKE TO LOCALS 20 TIMES [bff003]:

The name of this one is a little misleading. Given the title, you might think
you'd have to talk to NPCs 20 times, but that's not the case. Actually, to do
this star, you need to walk (with no Gear) up to the random, non-interactive
NPCs that populate the resorts. Now press any direction on your D-pad. This
causes your character to do gestures such as waving and panting. If you're
close to a rando-NPC, they'll react by doing a gesture in response. This is
considered "talking" to them. Do this 20 times to earn this Star. You have to
get a reaction from them, or it doesn't count, though.

===Big Ball of Painful Memories=== [pained000]

This is simultaneously one of the easiest keys to get and one of the hardest.
The "Crash 50 times" and "Drive your vehicle into water 50 times" stars are
easy to get and are just a matter of repeating yourself. However, the "Jump off
a cliff" stars require a significant amount of exploration to find, since only
those cliffs will do! Much like with treasure chests, dogs can help you find
these cliffs. They will bark and get a "!" over their heads when you're near
one.

JUMP OFF A CLIFF [pained001]:

i. Marine Resort cliff: Start from the information center (warp point 1) and
immediately turn around and head south. When you go past the villas, you'll see
a pathway in the grass that leads up a hill. Follow it, and on your right,
you'll soon see a green cliff jutting out of the pathway. At the end of that
cliff is a sword embedded in a rock. (Fans of the Soul Calibur franchise might
recognize that sword.) Jump off next to the sword for the star.

ii. City Resort cliff: Head to the UFO-shaped buildings on the eastern side of
the restort. They're pretty much due east of the Information Center (warp point
1). If you head into the walkways surrounding the buildings and go towards the
center, you'll find a speed rail that leads directly up the building. Take it.
Once you get up top, you'll notice a treasure box on a small platform. Head to
that platform and turn left. You should see a speed strip leading off the edge.
Feel the speed in your wheels and jump off that speed strip to earn another
star!

iii. Snow Resort cliff: Going directly to warp point 9 will put you very, very
close to this cliff. If you look off into the distance from where this warp
point drops you off, you will see a very narrow, triangular cliff. You'll need
to jump from the very tip of this pointy cliff to earn another star.

iv. Mountain Resort cliff: This is quite possibly the easiest of the four
cliffs to find; you may even find it by accident. This cliff is the Otti McRae
falls themselves! You can easily teleport here by going to warp point 7, which
will put you right at the top. Simply take a big leap off the edge and be
rewarded with a star!

CRASH 50 TIMES [pained002]:

Exactly like it says--you need to crash 50 times. Any badly flubbed trick
(where your character rolls across the ground, as opposed to ones where you
just hear a bike horn sound) counts as a crash. In my personal opinion, the
easiest way to rack up crashes is with the Inline Skates, since you can jump
and do tricks from a standstill. While standing still, jump and double-tap up
on the Nunchuck joystick to do a double flip, and you'll usually wipe out. Do
this enough and you'll be awarded a Star (and if this was real life, a trip to
the emergency room).

DRIVE YOUR GEAR INTO THE WATER 50 TIMES [pained003]

Also incredibly straightforward: take a non-aquatic piece of Gear and go for a
swim 50 times. You have to fully sink in the water (fade to black, followed by
you getting teleported back to dry land) for it to count. I find the easiest
place to do this repeatedly is in the Mountain Resort with the Off-Roader. Why
the Mountain Resort's lake and not the Marine Resort, which is full of water?
Because when you drive the ATV into the water, you'll usually get deposited on
the dry part of the beach, which is a further drive from the part of the water
you can actually sink in. In the Mountain Resort, you typically get warped to
the side of the lake, which is right next to water you can sink in. I take no
responsibility for your insurance company disowning you.

===Journeyman of Resorts=== [journey000]

RODE EVERY GEAR [journey001]

Try out every piece of Gear available across the many resorts to earn this
Star. Don't forget that you can change your Gear when you're traveling to a
warp point--it's easier than hunting each individual type of Gear down.

Here's a handy checklist:
Marine Resort:
-Marine Bike
-ATV
-Surfboard (only available in the Surfing activity, but it counts as its own
Gear)

City Resort:
-Inline Skates
-Skateboard

Snow Resort:
-Snowmobile
-Snowboard
-Skis
-Snow Tube

Mountain Resort:
-Horse
-Kayak
-Off-Roader

ACCESS ALL BOARDING PLATFORMS [journey002]:

For this Key, you'll need to take a ride from every boarding platform in the
game--in other words, every ride in the game denoted by a pink circle sticking
out of the ground. Every boarding platform goes to a warp point you can access
from the map, but USING THE WARP POINTS DOES NOT COUNT. You have to actually go
to the boarding platform, step inside the circle, and take the associated ride,
though you can skip the ride cutscene/tourist banter. Also, NOT EVERY WARP
POINT HAS A BOARDING PLATFORM AND VICE VERSA. Some boarding platforms just take
you on a little ride around the scenery and then loop back to where they
started.

i. Marine Resort Platforms:
---The three Scenic Flight platforms near the Information Desk (go to warp
point 1, then turn around). These just take you for a flight over the scenery
and don't warp anywhere, but you'll need to take all three.
---Boat ride near the docks (warp point 2)
---Boat ride on the far, far side of Merry Bay, near the big rocks (warp point
3)
---Boat ride on the far side of Merry Bay, near the Marine Bike races (warp
point 4)
---Boat ride near Rocky Ridge Coast (warp point 2)
---Boat ride in the Mystic Jungle (warp point 6)

ii. City Resort Platforms:
---Trolley Car Stop 1 near La Vacanza shopping mall (warp point 2)
---Trolley Car Stop 2 near the midway (warp point 3)
---Trolley Car Stop 3 near Giant's Heel Street (warp point 4)
Getting all of these is pretty easy, as you can just pick a warp point, hop on
the nearby trolley car, and ride it in a circle until you're done.

iii. Snow Resort Platforms:
---Chairlift 2 near the information center
---Chairlift 3 near the information center
---Chairlift 4 near the information center
---Chairlift 5 near Wild Boar Rush (warp point 4 will take you there)
---Chairlift 6 near the information center
---Chairlift 7 near the information center
---The five helicopter platforms right next to each other near the information
center

iv. Mountain Resort Platforms
---Train Station 1 near the information desk (warp point 1)
---Train Station 2 near the farm (warp point 3)
---Train Station 3 near the church (warp point 4)
Like with the trolley in the city resort, you can just pick a point and ride
the train in a lap.

===Fun Master=== [funmstr000]

100,000+ TRICK SCORE [funmstr001]:

If you obsessively perform tricks every second that you're on a piece of Gear,
you might accumulate enough points before you're done with the rest of the
game, but if you're like me and have human arms that get tired eventually,
you'll probably need to grind for trick points at some point. To get a lot of
points quickly, I recommend going to the City Resort and using the Inline
Skates at Track and Soul Skatepark. The giant halfpipe in Track and Soul skate
park (enter the park from the entrance near the info desk, then head left)
provides you with some VERY nice air when you jump it, and it's easy to build
up a good tempo in there of rolling up the walls, doing tricks, rolling back
down, and going up the other side.

COVERED 150,000 FT AT EACH RESORT [funmstr002]:

Walk, ride, swim, jump--just keep exploring! However, if you find you need to
grind for points, here's a handy tip: Using warp points counts as travel
distance! Simply warp between different points on the map to accumulate
distance quickly. Then go outside and take a real walk.

OBTAINED ALL SILVER KEYS [funmstr003]:

In other words, play all the rest of the game. Have fun with that.

===BONUS: Bungee Jump Locations=== [bungee000]

Doing all the bungee jumps is a requirement for a silver key, and since they're
hidden on the overworld with no hints as to their locations, I decided to
detail them all for you.

1. Marine Resort: Near the cliff with a sword in it (see "Big Ball of Painful
Memories - Jumped of a Cliff" for instructions on how to get there). Jumping
off that cliff should put you right in front of the bungie spot, so you can
jump off another cliff right away.
2. City Resort: Head to warp point 3 and just follow north along the road. As
long as you stick to the road, the bungie jump guy will pop out in front of you
eventually.
3. City Resort: Head to warp point 3 and turn SOUTH along the road. As long as
you stick to the road, the bungie jump spot will pop out at you.
4. City Resort: From the roof of the central hotel. Pass through the interior
of the hotel from the info desk and exit through the nearest entryway, which
should be to your left if you started from the info desk. The bungie jump spot
is at the bottom of the stairs.
5. Snow Resort: Near the base of the resort, around warp point 1. It's right
behind you after you warp there, beneath the hot air balloons and in front of
some scaffolding.
6. Snow Resort: At the top of the peak. Head to warp point 12, and it'll be
right in front of you where you can't miss it.
7. Snow Resort: In the Lava World (see the "Snow Resort Master - Path Finder"
section for info on how to get there). Follow along the path there and you'll
reach this bungee spot eventually.
8. Mountain Resort: At Warp Point 6, just to the right of the Paragliding
activity. Spin in a circle. You can't miss it.
9. Mounain Resort: At Warp Point 7, do an about-face. It's right behind you.
10. Mountain Resort: This one's along Shanghar Ridge, the long path that winds
down the far east of the map. Head to warp point 8 at the very top of the map,
then turn around and begin your descent down the mountain. At the first fork in
the road, take the left-hand path, the one that stays roughly level instead of
going downhill. Follow along that path until you come to a bridge with the
bungee point on it.

===BONUS: What Your Gold Keys Actually Buy You=== [deco000]

All of the Keys you can unlock in this game let you buy furniture and other
decorations for your Villa. Each Key will unlock one box for you, and each box
contains one group of furniture. However, most of the boxes have fairly simple
descriptions, and there's no way to tell what the decorations inside will
actually look like. As a small bonus, here's a few more detailed descriptions
of the stuff you'll find in the Gold Key boxes, so you can spend your precious
gold keys somewhat more wisely.

BOX 1: FURNITURE SET: PARTY

A series of decorations used for celebrating stuff! Includes a birthday cake, a
Christmas tree, a balloon, a "Happy New Year" banner, a "Happy Birthday"
banner, and a "Congratulations" banner.

BOX 2: FURNITURE SET: DINING

This set contains three HUGE tables full of food, for hosting a fancy dinner!
Includes a "Deluxe Gourmet" table full of various kinds of food, a "Fruit
Basket" table full of fruit, and a "Candy Party" table full of sweets.

BOX 3: FURNITURE SET: BATHROOM

Because you've been holding it in for far too long. Contains a bathtub, a
toilet, a washing machine, and a bathroom sink.

BOX 4: FURNITURE SET: KITCHEN

A set of decorations to make the chef in you happy. Contains a refrigerator, a
microwave, and, yes... the kitchen sink.

BOX 5: FURNITURE SET: ANIMALS

Give yourself some company in your villa with this set of pets. Includes a
birdcage, a giant tropical fishtank, and a cat with a cat hutch (though all
they do is sleep, the lazy bum).

BOX 6: FURNITURE SET: ORNAMENTS

Apparently, by "ornaments," they mean animal figures. This set includes a giant
plush dolphin, a Japanese lucky cat figurine, a cow figurine, a giant penguin
plush, a giant dog plush, and... a surfboard. For some reason.

BOX 7: FURNITURE SET: STUFF

I have no idea why they called this set "stuff," because this set is actually
full of fireplaces! This set includes a stone fireplace, a brick fireplace, a
Royal Fireplace (matches the rest of the Royal furniture set), a potbelly
stove, an iron stove, and a Japanese-style square hearth.

BOX 8: FURNITURE SET: HORROR

This is a variation on the Royal furniture set, but all of the furniture here
is HAAAUNTED! The chairs float off the ground, and the chests wiggle at a very
low framerate. ;) Mostly, it's the same as the Royal set with animations, but
the bed is a four-poster bed with a cool canopy, and there's also four cute
ghost friends--a daddy ghost, a daughter ghost, and two generic ghosts--you can
decorate with. Goes with the Haunted House villa exterior.

BOX 9: FURNITURE SET: SCI-FI

A sleek, futuristic furniture set! Includes antigrav chairs, a big screen full
of smaller monitors, and lots of glowy stuff. Effectively, it's a whole 'nother
furniture set, and instead of buying it piece by piece, you get the whole
shebang at once. Goes with the UFO exterior.

BOX 10: VILLA TYPE: TREE HOUSE

A VERY cool treehouse-style villa. This one's actually elevated off the ground
a bit and has a ramp you walk up to get inside. Has a balcony you can walk
around as well! The interior is similar to the Log Cabin interior.

BOX 11: VILLA TYPE: HAUNTED HOUSE

An ooky-spooky haunted house! Looks similar (but not identical to) the Royal
villa, both in the exterior and the interior. The back porch is smashed out and
crumbling, for that run-down ambiance ghosts crave!

BOX 12: VILLA TYPE: UFO

A UFO-shaped house! This one hovers off the ground, and like the treehouse,
there's a ramp leading up to it. The interior is shiny and chrome! Instead of a
back balcony, the balcony area of this villa shows you a hologram of some stars.

===THE MOST BONUSY BONUS EVER: Ball + Ball Secret locations=== [ballz000]

Finding the five secret resort beach balls gets you nothing. Finding the secret
places to push them gets you nothing. But they're fun so here they are.

1. MARINE RESORT:
Ball: A watermelon-shaped ball near the entrance
Ball Secret: Roll the ball into the fountain in the villa area

2. CITY RESORT:
Ball: A giant soccer ball beneath the big whale statue
Ball Secret: Push the ball into either goal on the field

3. SNOW RESORT:
Ball: A snowball near one of the ski resorts in the starting area
Ball Secret: Roll the snowball up the steps of the hotel and onto the body of
the nearby snowman

4. MOUNTAIN RESORT:
Ball: A blue ball with a gold crest on a hill behind the hotel on the north
side of the lake
Ball Secret: Roll the ball to a viewing platform on a nearby cliff

5. VILLA:
Ball: A metallic-looking ball in the middle of the villa area
Ball Secret: Push the ball over to the waterfall near the entrance to the villa
area.

-Special Thanks- [nowrt000]
----------------

Thanks to Arin Hanson and Dan Avidan for screaming at laughing at this game on
the Internet, thereby allowing me to learn of it.

Thanks to my best friend Glenn for purchasing me this game as a gift, despite
being extremely skeptical of it. I swear it was worth every penny!

Thanks to Charles for helping to test this. You're a stand-up bloke.

And if this guide helped you out at all, then hey--thanks to you, too. It may
seem weird for ME to be thanking YOU, since you're the one who presumably came
here to learn something, but nothing makes a writer happier than to have people
reading what they write. Even if all they've written is a guide to a silly
little Wii game. Cheers, broseph.
