Hello, welcome to ac_helper's Item Guide for Fishing Resort! There
are quite a few items in this game, and it can be a little
overwhelming trying to figure out how to dress your character, and
what rods and reels to use. So here I am to help you out!
You will notice the guide is split into fishing items and clothing
items, which is how the game also divides them. If you can't wear
it, you fish with it!
I will not include any other info, as you are likely to be familiar
with how the game works; but if you DO get stuck and need help,
try using my Fishing Guide, also found on GameFAQs:

In this guide, I will list the item, its in-game description, price,
and any notes or things I find interesting or helpful about the item.
So now, on to the Item Guide!

=====PART I: FISHING ITEMS [FGI]=====
Rods, reels, baits, and lures are sold in the Teman Paradise
Fish Shop. The Teman shop is the only one that carries the rods and
reels. The smaller display stands on the counters at the places
you turn in your fish have bait and lures for sale. After completing
all 33 available quests, you will be given a special rod and reel
as a reward.
Only certain rods and reels can be used with certain types of lures
or bait; the game will let you know if what you are choosing to
fish with is incompatible with any of the other equipment you
have chosen.
All buyable items are available from the game's start, but only
those you have the points to buy are able to be selected to put
into your cart.

Rod Name: LF-101 Journey
Rod Description: A novice rod with reel attached.
Designed to catch fish around 0.66 feet in size.
Rating: *S (1 star, small size)
Price: N/A (default)
Notes: This is given to you by the 1st float fisherman you have
to see to view his tutorial on how to fish. Not a bad rod, but
I would upgrade as fast as possible to a better rod. Does well
for catching the small fish around the Teman shop area.

Rod Name: LF-102 Next
Rod Description: An improved version of the LF-101. Designed for
enhanced enjoyment when fighting smaller fish.
Rating: **S (2 star, small size)
Price: 1,200 points
Notes: Better than the one you get at the start of the game. If you
can't wait to buy the best small size rod, get this first, as you
will likely lose fewer fish when using it.

Rod Name: LF-111 Long Drive
Rod Description: The flagship model of the LF-100 series. Notably
improved in long-throw capability, and an overall very reliable rod.
Rating: ***S (3 star, small size)
Price: 18,000 points
Notes: this IS expensive, but for the fiesty smaller fish, well
worth it. It's also well worth it because if a medium sized fish
hits it, you have a better chance of actually reeling it in (yes,
medium sized fish MAY bite at your bait, even with a small rod/reel
combo).
Works well for long distance casting; I've gotten it over
100 feet out quite easily. And some of the smaller, rare fish
hang out that far away, so you need to be able to cast that far.

Rod Name: MF-210 Tourist
Rod Description: An orthodox rod designed for
mid-sized fish around 1.64 feet in length.
Rating: **M (2 star, medium size)
Price: 2,800 points
Notes: If you don't have the points for the 3 star medium rod,
by all means get this first. You will likely get tired of losing
medium sized fish when you're using a small rod/reel combo.
This does well enough getting medium sized fish, and small
fish are more easily reeled in.

Rod Name: MF-222 Heroic
Rod Description: The newest model in the MF-200 series. Responds to
even the smallest movements from fish and remains solid under duress.
Rating: ***M (3 star, medium size)
Price: 24,000 points
Notes: This one is likely out of your price range for awhile, but
I would advise saving up and getting it as soon as possible. This
is THE best rod for those medium sized fish that keep getting
away from you if you use a small or the 2 star medium rod.

Rod Name: HF-1400 Hamstring
Rod Description: A firm rod designed to reel in fish over 3.28
feet in length. Sacrifices throw distance for durability.
Rating: **L (2 star, large size)
Price: 4,200 points
Notes: Again, if you don't have the points, but really want to
go after the large fish, by all means buy this first. Some of
the larger fish take great care to reel in with this rod,
though. The extra large fish won't even be fazed by this
rod, so save up for something better.

Rod Name: HF-1800 Storm Killer
Rod Description: Fixes the throw distance issues from the HF-1400,
and then some. Boasts impeccable elasticity and control.
Rating: ***L (3 star, large size)
Price: 28,000 points
Notes: Although this is 2,000 more points than the next available
rod, this is still only an OK rod for the large fish. I'd recommend
buying the L-XL rod instead of this one. Though the next one only
has a 2 star rating, it seems to do better for large fish.

Rod Name: X-100 Berserker
Rod Description: A rod of incredible strength, able to hold together
even during struggles with fish that are bigger than the fisher.
Rating: **L-XL (2 star, large-extra large size)
Price: 26,000 points
Notes: I would recommend this for all large fish, even over the
Storm Killer. This is the best rod you can buy, but if you complete
all the quests, you will get an even better L-XL rod as a reward.

Rod Name: X-999 Titan
Rod Description: The X series' ultimate weapon. The heaviest rod of
them all, theoretically capable of snatching legends up from the deep.
Rating: ***L-XL (3 star, large-extra large size)
Price: N/A (reward)
Notes: This is given to you as a reward if you complete all of the
available quests in the different areas you can fish in, along with
the best 3 star reel. Make it a priority to get this rod before
tangling with some of the largest fish.

Rod Name: TM-1000 Marine Buster
Rod Description: A rod and reel set designed for trolling.
Adding rods will increase the liklihood of a bite.
Rating: ***XL (3 star, extra large size)
Price: 30,000 points each; 4 available for purchase
Notes: This only gets added to the Rod purchasing list at the Teman
Shop after you get your own cruiser to go out into the sea with.
You get one rod/reel along with the cruiser, but it's best to
buy the other 4 available for more chances to get a bite.

for the average carefree fisherman or fisherwoman.

Notes: This is given to you by the float fisherman who teaches you
how to fish. It is attached to the LF-101 Journey rod. Not a bad
reel, but I would upgrade as soon as possible.

Reel Description: An all-around well-designed reel intended
for small fish up to around 3.28 feet in size.
Rating: **S-M (2 star, small-medium size)
Price: 1,200 points
Notes: Not a bad reel; get it 1st if you can't afford the 3 star yet.

Reel Name: FR-03 Omega
Reel Description: The crown jewel of the FR series. Same basic
capabilities, but this reel will work ina diverse range of
environments.
Rating: ***S-M (3 star, small-medium size)
Price: 22,000 points
Notes: The best of the small-medium reels, you will find yourself
reeling in the smallest fish with ease, and a not as brutal fight
with the medium ones.

Reel Name: M-05 Hunter
Reel Description: a heavy-duty reel designed for 3.28+ fish.
Rating: **M-L (2 star, medium-large size)
Price: 2,600 points
Notes: Again, buy this if you can't afford the 3 star yet.
Adequate, but nothing fancy. You CAN use this to reel in
small fish as well, if it's attached to a medium sized rod.

Reel Name: M-11 Lunker Keeper
Reel Description: An improved version of the M-05 reel with added
toughness, yet retaining the flexability needed to catch larger fish.
Rating: ***M-L (3 star, medium-large size)
Price: 26,000 points
Notes: Expensive, but well worth it. The line will rarely break
when using this for those fussy medium sized fish. You CAN use
this to reel in small fish as well, if it's attached to a medium
sized rod.

Reel Description: A reel that can handle virtually
any load. Developed for use with an X series rod.
Rating: **L-XL (2 star, large-extra large size)

Notes: THE best reel you can buy, get it until you can acquire
the 3 star reel, after doing all the quests, as a reward.

Reel Description: Prototype reel designed for use with an X series
rod. Fine-tuned for the craziest, most intense battles of them all.
Rating: ***L-XL (3 star, large-extra large size)
Price: N/A (reward)
Notes: This is given to you as a reward if you complete all of the
available quests in the different areas you can fish in, along with
the best 3 star rod. Make it a priority to get this reel before
tangling with some of the largest fish.

If you get 99 of them, the bait stores say 'sold out' until
you use some of them.

Description: Complimentary bait provided by your place of lodging.
Covers most fish up to around 2.30 ft in length, but not well.
Fish size: S-M (small-medium)
Price: 0 (default)
Notes: You start the game with 20 of these baits, and each time you
go out fishing daily, you should have 20 of them without buying
any more, although you CAN use them up and need to use something
else before the day is over.
Some medium fish won't even nibble at this, so it's better to
upgrade to better bait as soon as possible.

Bait Name: Basic Bait
Description: Cheap and hassle-free bait. Designed
to attract fish of around 2.30 ft in length.
Fish size: S-M (small-medium)
Price: 20 points each
Notes: OK starting out bait; just a little better than the free bait
you get at the game's start.
This is OK for attracting most common kinds of fish, but some of
the rarer fish are picky and won't even nibble at it. Great for
when you first start, and when you are saving up your points for
the better rods, reels, and baits.

Description: Pinpoint bait designed to look particularly appealing
to fish. Intended for catches around 2.30 ft in length.

of which seem to like it, and which don't.

Striped Beakfish, Halibut, Red Sea Bream, Butterfly Fish,

=====PART II: WEARABLE ITEMS [WRI]=====
Clothing is only available at the Teman Paradise Shop, in the
back of the store. Everything is unlocked at the start of the
game, but only the items you have the points to buy are
able to be selected.
When you choose to look at an item, your character, shown at the
screen's left, will wear the item temporarily, so you can get
a good look at what it will look like on them. Once you click
on an item with multiple colors, the color screen comes up.
Choose the color(s) you wish to buy, and a shopping cart icon
appears on those colors. Colors of an item you have already
bought or have will have no white box around it. Any color
with a white box around it is available to buy. When you have
bought all available colors of an item, it will say "Sold Out"
after that.
Some clothing items are male or female only, and I will note that.
UPDATE: there are six available character types to play in the game;
three male, and three female; and some have special clothing only
available to them, and these will be noted as well. The game calls
the character types by these names:
Girl (little girl)
Boy (little boy)
Big Brother (teen boy)
Big Sister (teen girl)
Father (adult male)
Mother (adult female)
At the start of the game, your character will randomly be wearing
at least a couple of cheap items; usually a shirt and a pair of
pants or shorts. There will also be a couple more randomly chosen
items in your suitcase to change into.
UPDATE: the items you are wearing and those in your suitcase are
NOT random. You can choose from a few different sets of clothes
when you create your character, and those you did not choose to
wear will be in your suitcase when you begin the game. I will add
these items at the bottom of the guide for your convenience.
If you don't notice a few of these items the first time you look
through the clothes in the shop, check your suitcase in case it's
there, or to see if you are already wearing it, or make sure your
character type has it available to buy.
For the more expensive items, I would advise not getting them right
away. There is a reward you can get for buying 300 items in the
shop (although bait does NOT count towards this). Buy cheap clothing
items like the T-shirts until you reach 300 items bought, then
you get a 50% discount on all the rest of the available items to
buy! Then go hog wild on the expensive stuff. I will list only the
full price for each item in the list.
There are a few items that are rewards for the special awards you
can get in the game. (I recommend using my Fishing Guide for
these.) If an item is a reward, I will note it in the proper area.
These do not show up in the shop, but only in your inventory after
you unlock them.
When looking at what colors may be available for an item,
please note the colors are only approximate, due to the
TV settings you are using, or other factors.
