2. General Notes and Contact Info

Throughout this guide I'm using the names of people, creatures and titles from
the British version of the game. I know that a few of the names are different
in the North American version, but I can't check these and don't have a
complete list, so I've just decided to stick entirely with the names used in
the version I have.

Also, for now at least, some of the information here is taken from memory,
since I haven't had a chance to go back and replay to check. There are also a
few gaps where I just can't remember things. If you can fill any of these gaps
or correct any mistakes I've made, please email me.

I can be reached at [email protected] and prefer that any email about
this guide contains "Endless Ocean 2 Guide" somewhere in the email subject.

3. General Tips

If you've completed the game's main story line, you can find out where to find
a legendary creature by selecting it's silhouette in the marine encyclopaedia.
This can be very helpful, but also sometimes maddening, since it doesn't tell
you any of the criteria you need to fulfil for the creature to appear, such as
whether they only appear at night.

Some legendary creatures can only be found by completing a specific quest or
special request. If you can't find a creature where it's meant to be, you
probably don't have the required quest.

Some don't have any quest associated with them and can just be stumbled on
randomly. Don't try waiting for a quest for these, because you'll be waiting
forever!

For most legendary creatures, the easiest way to find them is to dive with
Hayako and use her ability to display fish on the map. Press 1 to bring up the
map, then select the fish icon. You can then cycle through the fish in the area
by pressing left and right on the wiimote's d-pad. Unknown fish will show up as
"???" and could be the legendary creature you're looking for.

A couple of legendary creatures are small and can only be found in zoom mode,
by focussing on the glowing yellow dots you sometimes come across while diving.
When searching for these, it's better to dive with Oceane, since this makes
finding the glowing yellow dots easier.

For most Legendary Creatures, you won't receive credit for finding them (in
terms of the title and the encyclopaedia entry) unless you focus on them. In
some cases, this means that you can see a cut scene containing them and still
not be credited. There are three exceptions to this, which we'll get to in due
course.

4. The Legendary Creatures

4.1 Ice Cupid

Area: North Coast of Canada
Location: B2 (SW)
Conditions: None
Title: Winged Cupid
Notes: This is a small creature found in zoom mode, so bring Oceane. Look for
it at the edge of the ice hole.

4.2 Ailorous Pearl

Area: Valka Castle
Location B3 NE
Conditions: None
Title: Lucky Streak
Notes: This is a small creature found in zoom mode, so bring Oceane. Look for
it in the south west corner of the ballroom, just in front of the throne.

4.3 Grave Keeper

Area: Zahhab Region Depths
Location: C4 NW
Condition: Special Request - The Grave Keeper
Quest Prerequisite: Not certain but I think completing the part of the main
story in the Depths opens this quest.
Title: Grave Guardian
Notes: Found in the Twin Caves are of the Zahhab Depths, which are quite easy
to miss, since they're some way above the cavern floor. To find them, use your
map, get into the right place, then head up until you find a cave you can go
into. Once you have the quest, bring Oceane here and you'll find a giant
isopod. Once you focus on that, you'll hear a noise coming from the other cave,
which upon investigation will turn out to be the Grave Keeper.

4.4 Gungnir

Area: Ciceros Strait
Location: G1 to H1
Condition: None
Title: Norse Viking
Notes: Gungnir is very fast moving, so just swimming after him won't let you
get close enough to focus on him. Instead, dive with Hayako and observe the
path that he swims on your map. That way, you can wait for him at a spot you
know he's going to swim past, and focus on him as he does.

4.5 Phantom

Area: Valka Castle
Location: B3 NE to D2 SW
Condition: Night time, Special Request - Ghost of Valka Castle
Quest Prerequisite: Unsure. Possibly completion of the main storyline.
Title:Cyclades Phantasma
Notes: A simple quest. Just go to the area specified at night time with Oceane
and Phantom will be there.

4.6 Apollo

Area: Deep Hole
Location: B3 NW
Condition: Night time.
Title: Sun Dancer
Notes: No quest for this one. Just go to the Deep Hole at night.

4.7 Divine Gift

Area: Ciceros Strait
Location: C1 to E1
Condition: None
Title: Caviar Catch
Notes: The hardest thing here is avoiding the great white sharks that swim in
the same area.

4.8 Golden Catfish

Area: Cortica River Upstream
Location: B3 NW
Condition: Special Request - Gold Eater
Quest Prerequisite: Must have the servant's ring.
Title: Diamond Digger
Notes: When you first go to this location, you'll see a regular catfish there
instead of a golden one. Focus on it and give it the servant's ring. Nothing
will happen immediately, but the next time you dive in the Cortica Upstream,
the regular catfish will have turned golden.

4.9 Paoul Crocodile

Area: Gatama Atoll
Location: G8
Condition: Special Request - Mysterious Object
Quest Prerequisite: Buy a telescope from Nancy
Title: Dragon Tracker
Notes: First, you need to buy a telescope for Nineball Island from Nancy. This
becomes available as you play through the main story. Once you have it, the
quest will tell you to look out to sea on the morning after a full moon.
Determining when the moon is full isn't always easy. If you look up when you're
on Nineball Island, you'll be able to see it and judge by eye when it's
approximately full. Once it's almost full, start looking through the telescope
every night, and you will be told when it becomes full. Then wait until morning
and look through the telescope. This will update the quest and you'll be able
to find the Paoul Crocodile by going ashore at square G8 of Gatama.

4.10 King Gigide

Area: Cortica River Upstream
Location: C1 SW to D2 NE
Condition: Special Request - King Gigide
Quest Prerequisite: Must have the Caiman Relic
Title: Queen Maker
Notes: Once you have the caiman relic and the quest, simply going to the
location is enough. Unfortunately, I can't remember how to find the caiman
relic.

4.11 Mama Cortica

Area: Cortica River Midstream
Location: A4 NE
Condition: Rain, Special Request - Mother of the Cortica
Quest Prerequisite: I think that you need to have befriended the Amazon River
Dolphin and then cleared the logs blocking entrance to the pool off the river.
Title: Local Legend
Notes: Mama Cortica is in the small pool that's off the river and is initially
blocked off. To open it up, you need to befriend the Amazon River Dolphin (how
to do so is beyond the scope of this guide, but you can do so by following the
quest "Be The Best Trainer") then dive with it and select the logs that are
causing the blockage. Once you've done this and have the quest, go to the
Cortica River and wait around until it starts raining. Then go back to the
small pool to find Mama Cortica.

4.12 Arthur

Area: Iceberg Caven
Location: B2 SE
Condition: Special Request - Strange Animal in the Antarctic
Quest Prerequisite: Complete the main story
Title: White Panther
Notes: A straightforward quest that tells you what to do and where to go.

4.13 Snowy

Area: Weddell Sea
Location: A4 SW
Condition: Snow storm, Special Request - Research Subject
Quest Prerequisite: Complete the quest "Fragments of Memory"
Title: Penguin Maniac
Notes: The hardest thing here is getting the quest in the first place.
Completing Fragments of Memory isn't straightforward, since  lot of the time
there's no indication of what you need to do to progress. When this is the
case, just keep taking on photo requests from Jean-Eric and eventually the
quest will update. Once you've done that and picked up the special request,
it's a simple matter of talking to Hayako and then going to the location during
a snow storm.

4.14 Big Bobby

Area: Weddell Sea
Location: A4 SW
Condition: None that I recall. Possibly he showed up as part of the main story?
Title: Elegant Tuxedo
Notes: Unfortunately, I remember very little about how to find Big Bobby.
There's no quest associated with him though, so I assume that he can either be
found without any conditions or that he shows up as part of the story.

4.15 Kraken Jr.

Area: Cavern of the Gods
Location: A3 SE to B3 SE
Condition: Only appears after re-opening the Cavern of the Gods
Title: Clay Horror
Notes: Only tricky part here is re-opening the Cavern of the Gods.

4.16 Emperor

Area: Cavern of the Gods
Location: B2 SW
Condition: Only appears after re-opening the Cavern of the Gods
Title: Living Fossil
Notes: Only tricky part here is re-opening the Cavern of the Gods.

4.17 Cocoa Maharaja

Area: Gatama Atoll
Location: E4, D5 & E5
Condition: Special Request - Floating Island
Quest Prerequisite: Pet the dog when it's by the fire
Title: Turtle Hero
Notes: First, buy the telescope from Nancy. Then look through it in the morning
and you'll see something washed up on the shore in the north of Gatama Atoll.
Go to investigate it and you'll find a dog, which you can take home with you.
Every day, the dog will move around the island, resting at a different location
each day. When he's resting by the campfire (which you also buy from Nancy),
pet him and he'll get excited over something. This gives you the quest and you
can set off to investigate. Jean-Eric will send you off to various locations,
and when you get to them, you need to come to the surface and look around.
After doing this a couple of times, you'll find Cocoa Maharaja who you'll then
be able to encounter normally.

4.18 Thanatos

Area: Ciceros Strait
Location: H6 to H7
Condition: Progression through the main story
Title: Lone Shark
Notes: You can't miss Thanatos as you play through the main story, but you
might not manage to focus on it to get the title and encyclopaedia entry. If
so, you can go back and find it any time at the location specified. You can
also see Thanatos swimming about outside Valka Castle, but won't be able to
interact with it in any way here.

4.19 Black Harbinger

Area: Gatama Atoll
Location: C6 to D7
Condition: Unknown, possibly random
Title: Demon Chaser
Notes: Normally, there's a regular humpback whale swimming around in these
squares, but occasionally it's replaced with the Black Harbinger for no
apparent reason. I've found it during the daytime at no specific phase of the
moon, so I can rule them out as possibilities. Just keep on looking here and
eventually it should show up.

4.20 Leviathan

Area: Zahhab Region
Location: F4 to F7
Conditions: None
Title: Fanatical Captain
Notes: Nothing tricky about finding this one at all.

4.21 White Mother

Area: North Coast of Canada
Location: Most of the map
Condition: Special Request - White Mother
Quest Prerequisite: Find the whale ornament
Title: Amazing Grace
Notes: The whale ornament that you need to find to start this quest randomly
washes up on the beach behind the campfire on Nineball Island, and will show up
as yellow sparkles in the sand. I have no idea what prerequisite you need to
meet in order for it to do so. Once you have it, the quest is fairly simple.
Jean-Eric tells you that you should be able to find the White Mother in the
Arctic, and so you can. The bad news is that it swims over more or less the
entirety of the map. The good news is that it's an enormous whale so it's
fairly easy to spot.

4.22 Singing Dragon

Area: Cavern of the Gods
Location: C2 NE to C3 SE
Condition: Progression through the main story
Title: None
Notes: Either focus on it when you meet it in the main story, or come back
after reopening the Cavern of the Gods.

4.23 Okeanos' Guadian

Area: Cavern of the Gods
Location: B2 SW to B3 NW
Condition: Progression through the main story
Title: None
Notes: Either focus on it when you meet it in the main story, or come back
after reopening the Cavern of the Gods. In the latter case, you'll need to come
back at night.

4.24 Anomalocaris

Area: Valka Castle
Location: B2 NE to C2 NW
Condition: Quest - Voice of the Night Sky, 3. Solar System
Title: Ancient Remnant
Notes: You need to find all 12 of the solar system coins (8 planets, 2 dwarf
planets, the sun and the moon) to make this quest update. Then simply go to the
location specified in Valka Castle with GG and a cutscene will trigger.
Anomalocaris appears outside the window and can't be focussed on, so triggering
the cutscene credits you with the encyclopaedia entry and title. As one of
three super-legendary and long-extinct creatures, anomolocaris doesn't appear
in the encyclopaedia as a silhouette, and only appears after you find it.

4.25 Cameroceras

Area: Zahhab Region
Location: H8
Condition: Quest - Voice of the Night Sky, 2. Signs of the Zodiac
Title: Mysteriosu Aquanaut
Notes: You need to find all 12 of the coins associated with the signs of the
zodiac to make this quest update. Then simply go to the location specified in
the Zahhab Region with Oceane and a cutscene will trigger. Cameroceras appears
further out than you can swim and can't be focussed on, so triggering the
cutscene credits you with the encyclopaedia entry and title. As one of three
super-legendary and long-extinct creatures, cameroceras doesn't appear in the
encyclopaedia as a silhouette, and only appears after you find it.

4.26 Sea Serpent

Area: Ciceros Strait
Location: D8 to F8
Condition: Quest - Young Entrepreneur, 6. Dark Shadow
Title: Miracle Maker
Notes: To progress through the quest to part 6, you need to completely map
several regions, one of which must be the Ciceros Strait, and then talk to
Oceane. Once you reach the part of the quest where you're investigating the
dark shadow, simply go to the location specified in the Zahhab Region with
Oceane and a cutscene will trigger. The sea serpent appears further out than
you can swim and can't be focussed on, so triggering the cutscene credits you
with the encyclopaedia entry and title. As one of three super-legendary and
long-extinct creatures, the sea serpent doesn't appear in the encyclopaedia as
a silhouette, and only appears after you find it.

4.27 Gotta catch 'em all!

Once you find all the legendary creatures, you can then talk to Hayako to
receive a new title: Myth Finder
