Welcome to my Crystal Defenders R1 walkthrough. Crystal Defenders R1 is your
average tower defense game. The goal of the game is to not let the monsters
get from one end of the map to the other. When a monster gets all the way
across the screen, you will lose a Crystal. In this walkthrough I have listed
steps needed to beat each level without losing a single crystal. There are
probably other ways to beat the game without losing a Crystal, but I have
listed the way that I did it.

Units are the main thing that you will use to kill monsters. To place a unit
press 2 while in battle and press 2 again to place it in the desired location.
Most units have a max level of 7, but Time Mages, Thieves, and Dragoons have
a max level of 4.

Unit: Soldier
Game description: Though combat range is limited, Soldiers have exceptionally
high attack power. They cannot attack aerial targets
Notes: One of the most useful units. You start out with the ability to make
this unit.

Unit: Black Mage
Game description: A Black Mage's spells can inflict magical damage to
multiple targets over a wide area. However, recast time is long.
Notes: Another useful unit. You start out with the ability to make this
unit.

Unit: White Monk
Game description: While weaker than soldiers, White Monks deal blows which
damage multiple foes, but cannot reach aerial targets.
Notes: Not very useful. Soldiers are better.

Unit: Archer
Game description: Archers can deal physical damage to both air and ground
targets over a wide area.
Notes: Very useful. Good at attacking aerial targets.

Unit: Time Mage
Game description: While not as powerful as Black Mages, Time Mages are
equipped with wide range spells which slow a target's movement.
Notes: Most useful when placed in large groups.

Unit: Thief
Game description: Though Thieves cannot attack targets, if they are near
one when it is defeated, your party will receive extra gil.
Notes: Very useful if placed correctly.

Unit: Dragoon
Game description: While slow, a Dragoon's attacks deal massive amounts of
damage on both the ground and in the air.
Notes: Not very useful. I never use this unit.

To get an Esper, you must defeat it in battle. Espers are bosses of certain
levels. Summoning an Esper costs 5 crystals.

Game description: Summon the gigas Ifrit to deal sizable amounts of damage to
all monsters in the area.
Ifrit is found in The Aldanna Range-About Time

Game description: Summon the gigas Shiva to deal damage to and reduce the
movement speed of all monsters in the area for the duration of one wave.
Shival is found in Orchise Snow Fields-Beast Familiar

Note: Unfortunately, these final three maps have a slightly
different layout than the rest of the levels. This makes it
very difficult for me to do ASCII for these last levels.
Rather than leave these levels blank, I will provide some tips.
-Watch for the next wave- Check which monsters are going to
come next. If the monsters are weak against physical attacks,
place a soldier. If they are weak against magic, place a
black mage.
-Make thieves early- this will allow you to gain extra money
throughout the entire level.
-Place time mages in groups of 2X2- Do this on areas where the
path bends, this will allow you to slow monsters for longer
amounts of time.
-Try to minimize the amount of gold that you spend during each
round, this will allow you to gain additional bonus gold.
Note: Unfortunately, these final three maps have a slightly
different layout than the rest of the levels. This makes it
very difficult for me to do ASCII for these last levels.
Rather than leave these levels blank, I will provide some tips.

Be sure to spend it on both upgrades and on new units.
-Have a lot of soldiers and mages. The end of this level will
require a fairly even balance
-Place units with long range attacks farther from the path.
This will allow you to make room for more short ranged units.

Note: Unfortunately, these final three maps have a slightly
different layout than the rest of the levels. This makes it
very difficult for me to do ASCII for these last levels.
Rather than leave these levels blank, I will provide some tips.
-Place your first units in areas where they can reach both paths.
This level can be tricky, but you will have an advantage when
your units can reach both paths at once.
-Time Mages are very important- Place them in 2X2 groups in the
places where the path bends. By the end of the level you should
have quite a few groups of mages
-Watch for the next wave- Check which monsters are going to
come next. If the monsters are weak against physical attacks,
place a soldier. If they are weak against magic, place a
black mage.
-Make thieves early- this will allow you to gain extra money
throughout the entire level.
-Try to minimize the amount of gold that you spend during each
round, this will allow you to gain additional bonus gold.
If a level has a crown above it, It means that it is participating in the online
rankings. You can access the online rankings page from the main menu. You
can submit your high scores and see other people's scores. Can you become the
top defender? :)
