Introduction (INTRO):
Hello, my name is AeonFrodo, and welcome to this Boss Guide for
Code Lyoko: Quest For Infinity. I thought since this is my first
guide I’ve written I’ll start out small and I’ll see how I go at
this. Anyway, onto business, this guide will help you defeat the
bosses of this game very easily, as they can be a tad difficult
at times. This guide will also tell you when to use these
characters, choose the best characters for a particular situation
and utilize them to the best of their ability. So read, pay
attention and memorize these instructions as they will help you
defeat these bosses!
Characters and Controls (CH&CN):
There are four main characters in the game, each of them with
unique fighting abilities that can give you a harder time or an
easier time defeating the boss. However, when you’re playing the
storyline mode of the game, there is no time where you can use all
four of the characters in a boss battle. This will also help you to
control the characters too, since they all have different moves and
attacks. So let’s see the characters and their abilities, in
clockwise order.
Changing Characters (CHGCH):
To change a character, press either, up, right, down or left on the
D-Pad to change to a certain character.
Ulrich: ^ (up) on D-Pad
Odd: > (Right) on D-Pad
Yumi: V (Down) on D-Pad
Aelita: < (Left) on D-Pad
Ulrich Stern (ULHSN)
Age: 14
Weapons: Twin Sabers
Description: Ulrich is the only character in the game with melee weapons
and the only character that can execute combo attacks. His attacks are
incredibly powerful up close, and is very good at slide dodging, perfect
blocking and jumping from afar. He’s also the fastest character in the
game. So if you need nimble feet, Ulrich’s your man. Ulrich will be in
three Boss Battles, and he will be useful in all of them.
Controls:
A Button: Jump. The longer you hold it the higher Ulrich will jump.
Hold B Button and move Wii Remote quickly: Attack. Keep on moving the
Wii Remote to execute combo attacks.
Hold B Button, A Button and move Wii Remote quickly: Jump slash.
Make sure you hold the B Button before you jump to execute the mid-air
attack. Ulrich will attack downwards.
Hold C Button: Triplicate. Ulrich will summon two clones and attack the
enemy you target. However, this technique cannot be used in Boss Battles,
so it’s useless.
Z Button: Block. Ulrich will defend himself with one or two of his sabers.
If the Z button is pressed at the right time before a laser hits him, Ulrich
will execute a perfect block, sending the laser back to the enemy.
Z Button, move control stick to one side: Slide dodging. Ulrich will
quickly avoid an attack the boss will throw at him.
Odd Della Robbia (ODDER)
Age: 14
Weapons: Laser Arrows
Description: Odd is the only character in the game where his attacks do
more damage than Aelita’s Energy Fields (Not charged) and are quick and
easy to aim and fire, although his attacks are not powerful. He’s also very
good at jumping, dodging and blocking, but isn’t as fast as Ulrich. Odd will
be in four Boss Battles, but will only be useful in three of them.
Controls:
A Button: Jump. The longer you hold it the higher Odd will jump.
B Button: Laser Arrow. Keep on pressing the button to shoot more laser
arrows for rapid-fire attacks.
Hold C Button: Time Control. Odd can slow down time, if he’s not
attacked. However, this technique cannot be used in Boss Battles, so it’s
useless like Ulrich’s Triplicate.
Z Button: Shield. Odd will defend himself with his shield. If the Z Button
is pressed at the right time, he will execute a perfect block, but it’s
harder to do it with Odd.
Z Button, move control stick to one side: Slide dodging. Odd will quickly
avoid an attack the boss will throw at him.
Yumi Ishiyama (YUMIA)
Age: 15
Weapons: Tessan Fans
Description: Yumi is the strongest long range character in the game, but
she is quite slow, and takes time to target her enemies. She’s good at
blocking, perfect blocking and killing enemies quickly. Yumi will be in
two Boss Battles, and will be useful in all of them.
Controls:
A Button: Jump. The longer you hold it the higher Yumi will jump.
Hold B Button, aim for enemies and let go of B Button: Attack. The more
times you target the enemy(ies) the more damage is dealt to them.
Hold C Button: Telekinesis. Yumi can move green rocks using this
technique. This will be used in a Boss Battle.
Z Button: Block. Yumi will defend herself with one or both of her fans.
If the Z Button is pressed at the right time, she will execute a perfect
block.
Z Button, move control stick to one side: Slide dodging. Yumi will avoid
an attack the boss with throw at her.
Aelita Schaeffer (AELSR)
Age: 13
Weapons: Energy Fields/Blasts
Description: Aelita is the weakest long range character when her Energy
Fields aren’t charged up, and it’s extremely hard to charge up her Energy
Fields during a boss battle too. And her abilities don’t stand out as
much as the others. She’s good at blocking though. Aelita will be in four
Boss Battles, but is only useful in two of them.
Controls:
A Button: Jump. The longer you hold it the higher Aelita will jump.
B Button: Energy Fields. Keep on pressing the B Button for rapid-fire
attacks.
Hold B Button, let go: Charged Energy Field. Have Aelita charge it to
the max to get the most effect out of it.
C Button, shake Wii Remote: Pertification. Aelita freezes an enemy.
However, this technique cannot be used in Boss Battles, so it’s useless.
Z Button: Block. Aelita will defend herself combining her Energy Fields.
If the Z Button is pressed at the right time she’ll execute a perfect block.
Z Button, move control stick to one side: Slide Dodging. Aelita will avoid
an attack the boss throws at her.
Bosses (BOSS):
Okay, this part is what you’ve all come for, the boss battles. These
bosses can be difficult, but this will make them easier, or you can
challenge yourself depending on which characters you use. I will do my
best to explain the boss battles.
Mountain Replika Boss (MTRB1)
Difficulty: Medium – Hard
Characters: Ulrich and Odd
Most Valuable Characters: Ulrich and Odd
Environment: A circular battle arena in front of the Supercomputer. There
are no traps, but it is very small.
Attacks: Jumping shockwave, Rapid-Fire Lasers, Laser Beams, Slamming Arm
and ramming.
Brief Description: For a first major boss in the game, it is surprisingly
difficult to beat if you don’t know what you’re doing and if you don’t
keep your pace up, especially after that encounter with William on the
Replika. It is purple, and looks like some sort of giant robotic ladybug.
Luckily, you got both the speedy characters to fight this boss, so it
won’t be too difficult to defeat him.
Boss Battle:
Like every boss battle, this starts off with a cut scene of the boss
storming into the circular battle arena, and Ulrich and Odd jump out of
its way in the nick of time. Ulrich then admires the monster, and Odd
calls for backup, but Jeremie cannot send either Yumi or Aelita to help.
It’s up to them to defeat the boss by themselves.
Change to Odd immediately, since Ulrich won’t be too much useful for this
first part. Aim for the black targets on the boss’ arms and shoot them
with Odd’s laser arrows. The boss’ first attack should be its Rapid-Fire
Lasers most of the time, so slide dodge the Rapid-Fire Lasers, however,
with Ulrich, it is possible to perfect block and block the lasers. Keep
in mind that the boss is moving either left or right until the attack
stops, as you do NOT want to be hit by all of those lasers. You should
be able to dodge all of them.
The next attack the boss MIGHT throw at you if you get too close that
he will slam his arm down on Odd. Jump backwards and hopefully avoid the
shockwave that comes with it. The boss’ arm will be stuck in the ground
for some time, change to Ulrich and slash the black target while the boss
tries to wriggle out. His arm will pop out eventually, and once that
happens change to Odd. The boss might REPEAT its first attack of
Rapid-Fire lasers, so be prepared to avoid them. The next attack if
you’re far away from the boss is its Laser Beams. It will start way
off from Odd, but the attack will close in, and since it’s impossible
to hit the arms from there unless you jump when you’re in between the
Laser Beams, which is quite a hassle and a time waster. So jump over the
Laser Beams, and take aim and fire at the black target. This is Odd’s big
opportunity to attack, so hit him with everything you got! However, the
arm won’t be destroyed during the first laser beam attack unless Ulrich
had attacked it beforehand. The process will repeat, so keep hammering
at the targets on the arms to get to the next part, indicated by a cut
scene.
Once the arms are destroyed, a cut scene plays; showing the boss
recovering from its destroyed arm, and suddenly, a target appears
in front. Time for Ulrich to shine.
Change to Ulrich and start jumping immediately. The boss will try and get
close to Ulrich or far away, since it sends out a shockwave covering
the entire arena. So jump over it if you do not want to get hurt.
After some jumps if will perform a massive jump. Keep an eye out of its
shadow, because that’s where it’s going to land. You can easily move
out of its way, but once it lands, jump over the shockwave to avoid
extra damageand have more time to slash the target on its front. Run
up to the target with Ulrich and slash it repeatedly until the
boss recovers and jumps again. The pattern will repeat, but will go
slightly faster, so watch out.
Once the boss has received enough damage, another cut scene will play.
This time, the boss quickly recovers, and a new yellow target appears
on its back. It’s Odd’s turn now.
This will be very familiar to Ulrich’s part, but this time, the boss
will jump faster and closer to Odd. Keep on jumping, while at the same
time shoot at the target. If you have a steady left/right hand this will
be easy for you to hold the Wii Remote and aim for the target. The boss
will stop jumping eventually, and suddenly run up to Odd in an attempt
to ram him. This attack is very hard to dodge, since you got a two
second reaction time to decide which way you want to go. Jump out of
the way in the direction with the WIDEST opening. It will give Odd
more air time, plus some time to shoot the target while it’s
paralysed. When it’s paralysed, it’s a good time to attack, even
at a difficult angle. The attack pattern repeats, but goes faster
the more Odd damages him. Once his HP hits zero, you defeated the
first boss!
Extra Challenge: Try completing the first and second parts with Ulrich
only. It is possible, but only if you dare to attempt to block and
perfect block all those lasers.
Forest Replika Boss (FRRB2)
Difficulty: Very Easy – Easy
Characters: Odd, Yumi and Aelita
Most Valuable Character: Yumi
Environment: Most of the arena is pit area. The characters only get to
move around a semi-circle path section of the arena, as the boss can
fly mid-air and uses that pit area to its advantage. However, the space
is not an issue in the fight.Attacks: Monsters firing lasers, Rapid-Fire
Lasers, Heavy Laser and Scythe Swipe.
Brief Description: First of all, WHY ON EARTH DO YOU NEED ODD AND AELITA?
Yumi can deal with this boss by herself. The simple idea is to dodge the
attacks, which are really easy to avoid. That is really all anybody has
to do for this boss. Anyway, the boss is an overgrown insect pod, that
then spits out a large flying mantis.
Boss Battle:
The boss battle starts with a cut scene of the trio running towards the
Supercomputer when they see the guard deploying monsters at its disposal.
Switch to Yumi immediately, and take aim for the eye target and the
monsters it throws out. If Yumi has been upgraded to attack six targets
at once this part would be easy. When the eye has been damaged enough,
a green rock will randomly fall from the sky and land in front of the
eye. The boss will deploy more of its hornet monsters to distract Yumi
to hurling the rock away with her telekinesis. Either destroy all of
the monsters first before moving the rock, or avoid all the monsters
and quickly move the rock. Then attack the eye. When the eye has been
attacked a certain amount of times, rocks will keep falling, and the
process repeats until the boss has been damaged enough.
The next cut scene rolls, and it appears that the flying mantis is
deployed and ready to battle, with the target on its head and its back.
With the targets, the one on the head is easier to hit, but it’ll do
less damage. If any of the characters hits the target on its back,
it’ll do more damage, but it’s harder to hit with Odd and Aelita, but
is very easily hit by Yumi since she can lock onto it. The boss attack
with its Rapid-Fire lasers first, which Yumi can easily slide dodge to
avoid them since they are so slow moving through the air. However, Yumi
can easily attack the boss at any time now once she has him in target.
So repeatedly target the target by moving the Wii Remote over it while
holding B, and throw her fans. Then the flying mantis might attack with
its heavy laser up next, which is easy to dodge by slide dodging or
jumping. But it does a lot of damage if you get hit, but you can still
attack it during this period of time. Next, the mantis moves up close
with his scythes ready to attack. STAY in the middle and jump over them
when he attacks, as it is impossible to avoid them when you go left or
right. The attack pattern will continue until you kill the boss. Once
you hit the target until the boss’ HP reaches zero, you’ve defeated the
easiest boss in the game.
Extra Challenge 1: Try doing the second part with Aelita. She’s capable
of finishing off this boss too, just don’t get hit while you’re charging
up the Energy Field, otherwise this boss will take a long time to defeat.
Extra Challenge 2: Try doing the second part with Odd. Now, this is much
more difficult with Odd since he can’t do much damage to it, since Odd
cannot hit the back unless the mantis spins around, which it does rarely.
But no matter what, these extra challenges need Yumi for the first part.
That’s why Yumi was put in as most valuable character.
Ice Replika Boss (ICRB3)
Difficulty: Hard – Very Hard
Characters: Ulrich, Odd and Aelita
Most Valuable Character: Odd
Environment: Ice arena that is pretty small, and your character can easily
fall off the edge or get pushed off the edge. It’s also slippery too. Use
that to your advantage when dodging as Aelita or Odd. Ulrich for some
reason is not affected by the slipperiness of the ice when he’s dodging,
so he is in that case, slowest at dodging (But still fast).
Attacks: One laser beam (Four arms), Three laser beams (Four arms), Ice
Ball Blast, Energy Field, Three laser beams (Two arms) and Blizzard.
Brief Description: Now this is where the bosses start to get really hard.
You’re up against this spider-like monster that has an eye covered tower
strapped to its back that attaches to the ceiling, a tail at the back and
a huge eye at the front. This may look incredibly easy, but it’s really
hard, especially with the small arena and the ice. I even still have some
trouble with it these days. The main idea is to keep your eyes peeled for
the lasers and keep on moving and defending yourself. This is the most
difficult boss in the game.
Boss Battle:
It begins with a cut scene again, with Ulrich, Odd and Aelita being
energised onto the Replika. They’re facing the boss, which opens its eyes
on the tower.
Switch to Odd, and since the boss has activated all its three lasers on its
four legs, run in the direction that the lasers are moving, so if they are
moving to the left, move to the left, and if they are moving to the right,
move to the right, otherwise you’ll lose heaps of health and die very
quickly if hit by too many of those lasers. However, at the same time, you
need to shoot the eyes on the tower,
so take good aim and shoot. However, keep an eye out for those lasers,
they do change directions, and if you don’t keep track of them your
lifepoints will deplete very rapidly. When an eye is ‘dead’, it will be
black instead of grey. This will get harder as more eyes are inactive, the
harder it is to take down another eye, and the lasers around you will move
faster, so make sure you keep on moving as you are shooting, and watch out
for changes for the lasers.
Eventually, you will end up reaching the second (and final) part, and a
cutscene of the boss ‘transforming’ will signal that, exposing its large
eye at the front, at the same time, the tail is also vulnerable. Warning
you though, this part is extremely hard unless you keep avoiding and using
your blocking moves (by pressing Z).
Keep Odd there, because he’s extremely vital for this part. The boss will
either shoot yellow energy fields at you, or surround Odd with lasers,
making it impossible to reach the boss’ tail (Which is the most
vulnerable part of the boss). If you get the yellow energy fields first up,
you’re very fortunate as you will not have to face something hard up first.
However, they are hard to avoid, so stand in one spot and keep on slide
dodging back and forth until the attack is over. Once that attack is over,
this is when this boss battle becomes hard to handle. The boss will now
surround Odd with its lasers, do not try and jump over or slide dodge
through them because it’s useless, and you will take damage and the boss
will surround you again and again until it does. When it attempts (And it
probably will) to surround you, fire arrows at its eye to inflict some
damage to the boss’ healthbar. When the boss does successfully surround
you, keep an eye out for the lasers on the sides, because that will depend
on what action you will take to counter the boss. If the boss has three
lasers up, use Odd’s blocking move, ‘Shield’ to defend yourself against the
yellow energy fields it fires. The boss will keep repeating until one laser
on both sides comes up, when it does, jump out of the centre, because it
uses a blizzard attack which will freeze your character, then it fires,
and repeats the process until you get out of that situation, and it could
take at least a quarter of your health away, that’s why it’s so vital to
keep an eye out for the lasers. Anyway, when one laser appears on both
sides, jump out of there and keep shooting at the eye.
Once the boss has taken enough damage from the attacks, it will withdraw
and lasers will shoot out randomly from its four arms. Change immediately
to Ulrich, because you only have about fifteen seconds to make it to its
tail. However, you have to be quick to make it through those lasers, so use
slide dodge if nessacry to get past. Once at the tail, slash like there’s
no tomorrow until it jumps and the eye faces you. Switch to Odd, and repeat
the process until the boss is dead. Well done, you’ve beaten the hardest
boss in the game, but there are still some hard fights to overcome.
Extra Challenge 1: Do Odd’s parts as Aelita, and don’t use Odd for the
battle at all.
Extra Challenge 2: Complete the boss only using Odd
Extra Challenge 3: Complete the boss only using Aelita
Desert Replika Boss (DSRB4)
Difficulty: Medium – Hard (Maybe Very Hard?)
Characters: Ulrich, Aelita and Yumi
Most Valuable Characters: Yumi and Ulrich
Environment: An arena similar to the Mountain Replika’s boss’, but
smaller, and there are cracks in the ground…
Attacks: Red energy balls, making small fragments of lava out of the
cracks, red cross shockwave, shockwave, rising needles and stomp
Brief Description: This boss battle contains the smallest arena in
the game, and this really affects the battle itself. The first part
is easy, but when this boss reaches its second and third parts it
can get very difficult. Mastering slide dodging is essential for this
battle. The boss looks like an insect form of a centaur but with
sharp arms and a large *coughsackcough* between its rear legs. The
main idea for this boss is to keep on moving.
Boss Battle:
Open with Ulrich, Aelita and Yumi appearing in front of the boss,
ready to fight him.
Switch to Yumi immediately and hammer its shoulders with your fans.
If you have fully upgraded Yumi’s fans this part should be very quick
and easy. However, it does shoot those red energy blasts, so jump over
them and throw a few fans at one of its arms. When it receives enough
damage, it will stab the ground with one of its arms and make the
cracks in the ground dangerous, however, if Yumi just stays in the
middle and keeps on attacking while the boss is doing that it will
keep the boss occupied while Yumi is still dealing damage to him,
so don’t stop attacking when its distracted.
Once that’s done, a cut scene will show the boss’ target change to the
bottom on the ground.
The boss will have the target guarded by two fleshy parts in a cross
shape, so it’s impossible to attack it right away. Change to Ulrich,
and jump over the red energy blasts while moving. Then the flesh parts
on the cross start glowing… looks like it’s time to prepare to avoid
its next attack by moving to one side. Do not stay in the middle
otherwise you’ll be hit. Jump over the shockwave, however, the attack
phase is not done and you may have to avoid two more of those shockwaves
until it’s over. Then the fleshy parts move back and the target is
exposed. Run up to it with Ulrich and slash it, but keep a close eye
on the boss’ arms. When the boss’ arms dig into the ground, it’s time
to start slide dodging as it initiates its needle attack. Since the
needles are like columns of fire but go incredibly fast you need to keep
on slide dodging until you do not see the needles anymore, and make
sure they are consecutive slide dodges otherwise you’ll be too slow and
take damage. The process repeats, however, the attacks go faster.
When the boss has taken enough damage it will uproot itself and start
moving around the arena. Considering the arena is small this part is
hard, and speed and accuracy is of the essence to beat this part and
the boss.
Change to Yumi and aim for the targets are the boss’ knees, since there
are four of them it is impossible to get them all in one go since the boss
will stomp on Yumi by then, so aim for 2-3 at a time, but be quick in
removing all four of them because the targets do reappear on its knees
if you take too long taking them out. Oh, and to make matters worse it
does the red energy field attack on Yumi as well.
A short cutscene plays showing the boss stumbling backwards and slumping
forwards, revealing his *ehem* sack.
Quickly switch to Ulrich and run up to the sack and hack it, but watch the
boss, as it pierces the ground with its arms and does the needle attack.
Slide dodge, but the needles have increased their speed so you might have
to take a few sharp turns with Ulrich to avoid being hit. Oh, and if you
are willing to risk it, you can slide dodge towards the sack and slash it
once or twice and move out of harm’s way of the needles, doing more damage
on the boss.
When the boss finally recovers, switch back to Yumi and repeat the process
until the boss is finished off by Ulrich.
Extra Challenge: Do the first part with Aelita
Volcano Replika Boss (VLRB5)
Difficulty: Easy – Medium – Hard
Characters: Odd and Aelita
Most Valuable Characters: Odd and Aelita
Environment: A large arena, but mostly covered in lava. There is one large
path that is longer going closer to the screen, while the sides are fairly
short. There are also some platforms around the boss to jump on.
Attacks: White Bugs, flamethrower, energy fields and hornets. Oh, and the
lava too.Brief Description: This final boss looks like a giant centipede
that can spit out bugs and that can shoot out energy fields. The boss
itself doesn’t do too much damage, but the lava saps your health very
quickly, so be careful not to jump into the lava and its pillars. Aelita
will finally become useful in a fight as well.
Boss Battle:
Since you’re conveniently Odd already fire arrows at the bugs. Since Odd
should be fully upgraded by now he should take them down easily. After
some time the centipede will withdraw and red targets will show on the
lumps on his back, however, the majority of them are only accessible by
jumping on the platforms around the centipede. Which means you’ll be very
close to the lava. Also, you can only stay on a platform for a limited
amount of time before it sinks into the lava, so once it looks like its
sinking, jump to the other platform and shoot the other targets. If you
don’t shoot all of them, you will have to deal with the bugs and the
process repeats until you have taken care of the targets.
The centipede then unleashes its flamethrower attack, which is shockingly
easy to dodge by jumping onto the lava platforms, however, don’t jump
them too fast or the boss will change the direction of the flamethrower.
So take your time when jumping onto the platforms until you reach the
large unsinkable platform on which you started jumping from. The boss
would still be using its flamethrower attack, but it won’t touch the l
arge platform again, so it would be a good time to switch to Aelita while
you’re at it, it’s her turn to shine now, since Odd’s arrows are too
small to hit a constantly moving target.
After centipede finishes its flamethrower attack, it will reveal eight
moving arms, and out of the eight arms, one of them will attack with an
energy field. The idea is to destroy those arms, so charge up Aelita’s
energy field, but keep your ears on stalks. When a laser-like sound is
made it means the boss has locked onto your current position and will
shoot you within a second, so avoid the energy field when you can see
it while holding the B button to keep your charged energy field. Then
you have a 3 second break until the boss fires another energy field,
so just aim at an arm and fire. Start attacking from the bottom two
arms, and go up as you go along, since the arms at the top move a lot
and are hard to hit. However, with each two arms that you destroy, the
centipede will do its flamethrower attack, but that’s easy to dodge
since you know how to now. Once that flamethrower attack is done, it’s
just rinse and repeat until all the arms and the four flamethrower
attacks are over.
When you have avoided the fourth flamethrower and reached the large
platform, change to Odd for one last time. When the centipede ends its
flamethrower, it will spit out some bugs, and hornets will appear from
who knows where to attack Odd. Shoot them all down, since they give you
health, which makes this final part easy. Then keep on firing at the
red bug in the centipede to really damage it. Other enemies (like the
hornets) will keep on appearing so shoot them down so they don’t annoy
you, and then keep on shooting at the red bug. Once the boss’ HP reaches
zilch, you’ve completed the game! Congratulations!
