Ys Book I & II (C) Nihon Falcom 1987, 1988 and (C) Hudson 1990
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Welcome to the Ys Book I & II FAQ and Walkthrough.  In this guide you will
find all the hints and information you need in order to finish the Ys Book I
& II found on many consoles from Japan and America such as the NEC Turbo Duo
(PC Engine) and the NES(Famicom).  For those who already have the manual for
your game some parts will be a mild review unless you never read the manuals,
and in that case, enjoy because this game has an awesome plot and storyline.
Please be aware I used the names, descriptions, and the rest from the Turbo
Duo CD-ROM, therefore some names of items and places may be different, but
the game itself is in its entirity the same thing on all ports of the game.

Please also do NOT alter this file in the slightest bit without my prior
permission.  If you care to assist me, just email me and I'll most likely
accept what you would like to contribute within reason.  Thank you.

(Editors Note: Ys is pronounced like the letter "e" follwed by a hissing "sss"
sound and not a "z.")

[I. Story]--------------------------------------------------------------------

Hurry Adol, You Must Help Us!

Eight hundred years ago, Ys was a land of peace and prosperity.  Ruled by two
beautiful goddesses and six priests, Ys was a world of magic.  Magic that came
from a mysterious stone called the "Black Pearl."  Using this stone, and the
magic that it had given them, the priests created a new metal, "Cleria," which
brought great riches to the land.

But one day, a great evil came across the land.  Believing that it was the
Cleria that caused the evil, the priests buried all of it in hopes that the
evil would disappear.  The sacred shrine, Solomon, which held the Black Pearl,
was raised high in the air to prevent it from being destroyed.  Fearing the
worst for themselves, the priests wrote down the history of Ys in six separate
books and passed them on to their descendants.

Years passed and Ys fell into a deeper state of despair until, one day, the
buried Cleria was found.  For a short time, the peace and prosperity that had
existed 800 years before was returned to the land.  But, just as before, an
Evil Force appeared.  Once again, the land seemed doomed.  But this time,
there was one small ray of hope.  This hope was a young man named Adol.  Adol
heard that whoever found the six lost books of Ys and returned them to the
statues of the now long-gone priests, could restore the country to peace and
prosperity.  It was rumored that five of the books had been hidden throughout
the land.  However, the sixth book belonged to an evil Demon Boss called "Dark
Fact" who lived in Darm Tower.  It was said that Dark Fact would fight to the
death to preserve this book.

Brave, intelligent and true, Adol sets out on what will be the adventure of
his life.  But it is you, great adventurer, that must guide him!

[II. Object of the Game(s)]---------------------------------------------------

Ys Book I:

Basically in this first book in the Ys saga you must find and collect the
first five of the six ancient books.  After you accomplish this, you must make
it to Darm Tower where the Demon Boss, Dark Fact, awaits you.  Once you reach
Darm Tower, you must find and defeat Dark Fact, who has the sixth book.  This
will allow you to move on to Ys Book II.

Ys Book II:

In this second book from the Ys saga your first challenge is to fight the evil
spirits and return the six books to the statues of the dead priests.  Once you
return the books, the true source of evil is uncovered.  The mysterious Black
Pearl, supposedly the source of all that is good, is actually the ultimate
Boss Darm, the source of all that is evil.  Your final mission is to reach
Solomon Shrine and destroy the Black Pearl.  It is only by defeating Darm that
Ys will be restored to peace and prosperity.

Throughout the game, collect gold, magic items, and experience to increase
your chances at defeating the Evil Forces.

[III. Character's List (Primary and Secondary)]-------------------------------

Adol Christin

Our hero, an unknown quiet, kind, and adventurous master swordsman who
wandered into Esteria by the way of the sea.  As he disembarks he is
approached by Sara who leads him back to her house and reveals to him his
quest, to find the six lost Books of Ys.  Eventually he does in fact recover
the books and is sent to Ys to restore the land to its long missing glory and
prosperity.

Boss Darm

Boss of Ys Book II and the root of all evil, disguised as the Black Pearl he
tricked the people of Ys into worshipping him, and in return brought death and
destruction to the land of Ys.  With the Black Pearl in the past the ancient
priests of Ys made a new metal called Cleria but monsters appeared and the
people believed it to be Cleria.  As a result, the land of Ys was lifted high
into the sky to protect the Black Pearl.

Dalles

Dalles, a dark wizard was Darm's most loyal follower and held lots of power
and couldn't be affected by Adol's magical power.  Since Darm was locked away,
Dalles communicated with him often and carried out all of Darm's evil wishes.
Dalles seemed to be one step ahead of Adol throught Book II.  Dalles even
changed Adols form into the shape of a goon, but an angered Adol killed him
with some fancy swordsmanship.

Dark Fact

Ruler of Darm Tower and keeper of the final book of Ys.  A descendant of the
ancient Priest Fact and keeper of his book.  Dark Fact will not give it up
without a fight, but because of his magical cape only items made of Silver
can hurt him, and protect you from his attacks.  Once he is defeated, his book
obtained and read, Adol will then be sent to Ys by a magical light.

Goban Toba

Goban Toba was once the leader of a group of thieves that lived in Esteria.
But as Adol would discover him and his followers were not all that bad, they
were like Robin Hood, sort of, they would only rob the rich.  In Y's Book I he
would give valuable information to Adol when he had a question that needed to
be solved.  After Ys was saved Goban and his gang went straight and opened a
successful business in Minea Town.

Feena

Adol met Feena while searching for the first Book of Ys in Esteria's Shrine.
She had been locked up in the Shrine's prison by the local goons.  Adol on his
quest rescues the girl and then from there she returned to Zeptic Village.
Unfortunatley for her, and Adol, she could not remember why she was brought
there and when she tried she suffered headaches.  All she did mention was that
she could hear voices coming from trees, which Adol figured out how to do
later.  Later as Adol prepares to fight Boss Darm he learns that she is one of
the two Goddesses of Ys.

Lair

Adol first meets Lair, a poet, in Minea Town up in the northeast corner of
town as she sits there silently because her Silver Harmonica was stolen away
from her.  A short while later though Adol would recover her Silver Harmonica
and in return, as per Sara's wishes give onto Adol a Book of Ys, and a tune on
her harmonica as well.  Again they would meet later in Darm Tower where Dark
Fact's goons had locked her up in a cell.  When Adol rescues her he finds that
she wanted to be captured so she could give him a pair of Glasses so that he
could read the language in the Books of Ys.  Beyond that she also gave Adol a
clue on how to defeat Dark Fact.  And furthermore before the battle with Dark
Fact it is discovered that like Feena, Lair is the other Goddess of Ys and she
uses her powers to help Adol vanquish Darm.

Keith Fact

Keith Fact, like Dark Fact is related to the Ancient Priest Fact.  He was
thought to be a goon and was locked in a prison in Burnland, but Adol freed
him.  Later Keith and Adol would meet again and Keith would free all the
people captured by the goons.  When Darm was defeated, it was discovered that
Keith was human and had been put under a curse by the wicked demon.

Lilia

A peasant girl from the village of Rance in Ys Book II, she discovers Adol
lying on the ground unconscious after his landing in Ys.  Not long after
arriving in town Adol finds that she is deathly ill and had to find Dr. Flair
and two ingredients for him to make a cure for her which he does.  And because
of Adols great kindness to Lilia she falls deeply in love with him.  Later on
as Adol reaches Solomon Shrine he finds her and other villagers that were
captured by goons, but before he could save her, the evil wizard Dalles turns
her into stone.  Later Adol would remove the curse and would meet up with her
at the Ys Core.

Luta Gemma

Adol found Luta Gemma inside a prison in Darm Tower.  Shortly there after,
Dogi arrived and smashed down the prison wall to free them.  Later Luta Gemma
would give Adol the Blue Amulet, which would allow Adol to open the protected
door leading to Dark Fact's room.  When Adol was about to fight Darm he would
appear again and give him the Shield of Cleria to help him in his hard battle
to come.

Sara

A fortune-teller living in Esteria.  As you stepped off the boat in Esteria
she sends Adol on his quest to recover the six Books of Ys in order to save
the land.  Unfortunatley for her, she was forced to leave town because of her
knowledge of the Books of Ys.  She was also the keeper of one of the books,
which she gave to Lair to pass on to you, but she made you get her Silver
Harmonica first before she would hand over the book.

The Priests of Ys

The six priests of Ys were Hadal, Toba, Dabbie, Messa, Gemma, and Fact who all
lived over 800 years ago and along side the two goddesses ruled over the
magical paradise known as Ys.  They, as well as, the people of Ys worshipped
the Black Pearl and not long after made the discovery of the metal Cleria
which brought wealth to the land.  But shortly after goons invaded the land
and in hopes of halting the on going attacks the priests buried all the Cleria
in the land.  The priests fearing for their lives and the land each wrote in a
book the history of Ys in six books known as the Books of Ys.  Finally in a
last desperate act they lifted the land of Ys into the sky in the hope that it
would protect it from the evil.  Each of the priests possessed a type of
magic: Fire, Light, Return, Timestop, Transformation, and Shield.  Supposedly
only the Priests and Goddesses of Ys could control it, but that was not so.
In Ys Book II Adol Christin would find and control this magic in order to
destroy Darm and restore Ys.

[VII. Helpful Hints]----------------------------------------------------------

* When playing, you should take notes on what certain characters say.
Otherwise, you might get stuck later on.

* Combat is not as simple as just running into your enemies.  Hit them from
the sides too!  But, look out!  When dealing with a boss, strategy is often
 more important than strength!

* You never know when some items will be useful, so test them regularly.
Remember, every item has a special purpose!

* In Book II, make sure you talk to all of the townspeople.  Some may even
 require more than one visit!

* In either Book I or II always try to fill the requests of people when you
are presented with one.  You will be at least rewarded with items you find
along the way, but when you return it at the least you'll get a thanks.  At
the most you will get some experience points and possibly also a place to
recharge your "HP" and "MP"(Ys Book II) for free when you come back,

* Instead of buying cheap weapons right away, save your money to buy the more
expensive ones.  You will save money and will be more powerful early in the
 game!

* Make a map of the complex areas (such as the caves).  Otherwise, you might
 get lost!

* Want to build experience?  In Book I go into the bottom floor of the Shrine
and/or the Mine and walk back and forward killing goons to get fast quick
experience and gold boosts.  In Book II, go to Jira's basement once you have
the Evil Bell and ring it.  A hole in the wall will appear and an endless
supply of monsters will pour out.  Just sit there for a hour or two and
constantly shoot your Fire magic up the hole racking up easy and extremely
fast experience and gold boosts.  Note that beyond the hole is the sixth
priests tomb, Fact's, once the book is returned the way to Solomon Shrine
will be then opened up.  Also if you run out of Magic Points see Lilia's Mom
in the southeastern part of town in her home for a recharge.

* Here's another way to build experience.  As with all video games of this
genre all the ground is built on a tile(square) system on the screen.  Take
for instance the Field in Ys Book I, in certain areas you may see that a new
enemy will just reappear when you just walk away from the screen and back.
These are so-called "Hot Spots" and keeping that in mind you can gain fast
experience by going back and forward from it causing a monster to keep
regenerating so you can kill it and get its experience and gold.

[VIII. Ys Book I Walkthrough]-------------------------------------------------

As our story opens the young swordsman Adol Christin is approaching the town
of Esteria on a wooden sailing vessel ready to take on whatever his on going
adventures will lead him.  Once the vessel docks he is approached by the
fortune teller Sara who calls for him to come over to her house and speak with
her. In Sara's house she presents him with a problem and a quest.  Evil was
returning to the land and she knew that the world needed a saviour.  As she
explained that to Adol he accepted the mission and she continued on.  She lets
Adol know that he must locate the Six Books of Ys to save the land.  To guide
him on his way Sara gives him an item Sara's Crystal and tells him to head
toward Zeptic Village.

Outside Adol decides to scout around town for information from the
townspeople.  Adol hears some notable information like from this pair of
children and there mother they hear about the Roda Tree and that they play
near it.  Another man mentions that Pim is a person that would sell his own
mother if he needed the cash in a hurry.  But the most notable pieces of
information come from two girls.  A blue haired lady mentions that her father,
the Elder of Zeptic Village is in need of some help.  The other is in the
northeast corner in a purple garb, a poet named Lair that has had her Silver
Harmonica stolen away from her.  Next Adol decides to stop by the bar in the
middle of town to see if he can find some more information.  Inside he meets a
man who talks to him about the thieves in the area robbing people and asks Adol
for help, and of course Adol agrees.  Then there is the one eyed man who is
afraid to go home because he lost a gift to his wife, a sapphire ring.

With the information Adol gained he decides to head to Pim's Shop up in the
northwestern part of town.  In the shop Pim comes up to greet Adol, Pim is a
shifty looking character that shouldn't probably be trusted.  He tells you
that he has items for sale, and will buy things as well.  You find that he has
the Sapphire Ring, remembering the man who lost his ring you buy it off of
him.  Adol then departs the store and heads back to return it to the one eyed
man.  The very happy man in return pays you back and then some, you gain an
extra $500.

Now with that out of the way the choice is really up to you.  Adol could now
buy a short sword and chain armor for a little protection, or you go north
into the field and head to Zeptic Village.  (Editors Note: I will keep this
going assuming you bought the items for protection and better attacking
power.)  Adol decides though to check out the armor and weapons shops and
invests in the gear mentioned above.  Before leaving Adol headed over to check
out Dr. Klaus's Hospital which was in the northeast part of town next to Lair.
Inside he found that here he could buy herbs to restore his life and can get
treatment there as well.  Taking this into consideration with the journey
ahead he made a point to remember during his journey ahead.  Outside the town
Adol remembers that he needs to head to Zeptic and has to follow the path to
get there, and that also there is a Golden Vase to be found.  As Adol headed
north along the path he had to combat a great deal of goons on the way, mainly
knights.  Eventually though Adol approached a bridge which the path followed
to the east, and once he crossed it he came across stronger goons like small
lion like creatures and tin men.  Scouting about he found a small pond, and
found he could approach it from the southwest end.  There he saw a sparkle in
the water and dove in, what luck!  Adol found the Golden Vase, when he returns
this to Pim he'll get $2000 for his troubles.  He then returns to the path and
enters Zeptic Village.

Once in Zeptic Village Adol decided to find the Elders home, and he did a
little north and east of the entrance.  Once inside the Elder told Adol of
that the towns Silver Bell, an item of great importance to the village was
stolen, and he suspected it was the thieves.  The Elder then asked Adol if he
would head into the mountains in the north to find the thieves and get the
Silver Bell back, Adol agrees.  Once outside, Adol decides to talk a bit with
the people of the village to collect more information.  After speaking with
the townspeople he finds that some are suspicious of the Silver Bell being
missing, and others point you to the mountains as well in the north where
there is a shrine, and the thieves hideout.  As Adol collected information
though, as per Sara's request he found the home of Jeva and speak with her.
When he enters her home she was Adol had Sara's Crystl and then spoke to him.
Jeva told him about the shrine to the north which is rumored by legend to hold
one of the Books of Ys, and hands him the Shrine Key so that he may enter and
explore.

On his way, Adol heads north into the mountains and comes after some sparse
weak opposition, and finds the shrine just ahead.  (Editors Note: Here is a
great place to build some more experience.  I suggest you kill enough enemies
to attain Level 5 so you don't find it next to impossible to survive the
Shrine.)  Once there he remembered that the he needed to find the theives den
to the northeast first, and continued to scale the mountain, until he found a
rickety bridge that led to a cabin with an old man outside.  Adol spoke to the
man and he ranted about losing his friend inside Darm Tower and not hearing
from him since.  Adol then went inside to find Goban Toba, the theives leader.
Adol was greeted by him and then had to choose to call him a dirty theif, or
ask him if he's seen the Silver Bell, Adol took diplomacy and asked nicely.
Goban Toba said that he had not seen it, and mentioned that he was a victim of
crime too in that all his silver wares were gone.  He then also before Adol
left told him he was welcome to return and he would fill him in on information
that Adol might need when he has a question.  (Editors Note: Once you have the
Mask of Eyes from the Shrine you can take it to Goban Toba and he'll let you
know its use which is to be able to see things monsters can and humans can't.)
Once inside, sees a magnificent hall laiden with pillars and six statues of
Goddesses.  But off to the east Adol notices something quite strange, the
third and last statue to the right of the entrance was not bluish gray like
the others, but is gold.  A curious Adol steps forward and touches it, and
then he finds that he has been transported into the depths of the shrine.
Before him is a large area laiden with many smaller rooms with many doors
leading many places.  Adol decides to try to head in a southwestern direction
in his search to find the Book of Ys.

Once he has gone as far as he can he sees a door that heads north and takes
that passage.  Little does Adol know though that he has stumbled into a trap.
As he steps into a room with with an emblem on the ground which is circular
and has six spots on it an enemy appears!  Adol is suddenly attacked by a
large wizard.  Adol watches briefly and notices that all six of the statues
blow fire in a pattern and that the wizard makes himself visible and invisible
briefly around the room where the fire shoots in to.  Adol then decides to
strike once he figures out a pattern which is to wait for when the Wizard
appears close to him and to attack him from the bottom, but only when the fire
is not in the same area so that he isn't roasted alive, and continues the
attack until the wizard is dead.

With the wizard dead Adol approached the large door in the middle of the wall
in the back of the room.  Seeing it was locked he used the Shrine Key Jeva
gave to him and proceeded in.  Inside Shrine Depth 1 Adol found the place was
riddled with cooridors and many small and medium sized rooms which runs in
many directions, and some into dead ends.  Scouting about this floor he came
across many large yellow goons with large blades which didn't present him with
much of a problem.  In the east end of this room he found two jail cells, but
could not see in.  To the direct south of them as far as he could go he found
a locked chest, and then decided to go west.  Eventually he hit a wall and had
to go a little north, but to his surprise he found another chest, but it was
locked too.  Backing out the way he came, Adol then decided to head south from
the doorway he came in, and he found a long passage into the lower second part
to the same floor.  This floor though was much less complex with larger rooms
and and less passages.  Still heading south the hall ended and he had to head
east.  He then came up to a piece of hallway with two doors and two statues.
Curious he took the first doorway and headed northward.  To his surprise he
found yet another chest, but it was mysteriously guarded by two small blue
monsters.  Adol figuring it must be important he killed the two monsters and
tried to open the chest, and it did!  Inside he found a special key, the
Prison Key which he knew was important to them.

Remembering the jail cells on the other part of this floor, and the two chests
as well he backtracked to the cell.  When he opened the left one he found one
of those blue monsters, but backed out before it saw him.  Trying the other
cell to his surprise he found a light blue haired girl named Feena shackled to
the wall.  Adol at her pleading request broke the chains.  In return she
thanked him but didn't know why she was captured.  Adol told her that she
should leave while he distracts the guards and go back to Zeptic Village, and
she does, but not before giving Adol the Treasure Box Key.  Adol knew now with
this key he could open all the treasure boxes he came across.  With this key
he went to the two treasure boxes he saw on this part of the floor and opened
them.  To his surprise the chest south of the cell had a Necklace, and the
other west of that item had a weird mask, the Mask of Eyes.  With his prize he
headed back to the southern part of the floor but this time took the door on
the right.  After going as north as he could he came to a room with two long
passages, Adol decided though to be through and checks the left one with then
branched to the west.  Coming up on a four way crossing he decides to look to
the south first, and he finds a new chest, and inside the Village of Zeptic's
lost Silver Bell!  He then checks the other ways and comes up with nothing and
then backtracks to to other passage and finds nothing as well.  Then heading
to another passage right to that one he found that the room turned east, and
then far south and approached another door that lead down.

Now in the bottom of the Shrine in Shrine Depth 2 Adol sees he can go south or
west, Adol decides to go as west as possible.  As luck would have it Adol
finds a chest in the far west room which held the Ivory Key.  Adol then would
backtrack a bit to the east until the first passage south he came across.  At
this point he could go west which then turned south, or to the east, thinking
the west looked promising he headed that way and proceeded south as possible
until all he could do was head east in the direction of a gold goddess statue.
Curious he touched it, and like before it transported him, it sent him to the
other part of the Shrine Depth 2 floor where he came across some harder
enemy's like a with and a large cowardly lion.  Heading south he came across
a door in which he could head west or east, Adol decided to go west and yet
found another chest with a refreshing heal potion.  Curious Adol backtracked
to the gold statue and transported back and then continued to the east, and
then north, east, and south as the passage went to another gold statue and
used it.  In this room he saw he could take a door to the south and did.  This
room lead to another above it, and that to another below, and that one led to
a great treasure in a room above it, the Silver Shield which was stolen in
the Esterian armor shop.  Adol then backtracked to that first gold statue and
used it again, and instead of going west Adol went south and something caught
his eye.  A blue statue seemed to be different, it twinkled and caught his
attention and suspicion.  Remembering that he has the Mask of Eyes and that it
can see what humans can't he put it on and amazingly a door appeared to the
east of the statue and Adol proceeded in.  With the mask off and his vision
restored he had a choice to go north to a gold statue or south and east.  Adol
decided to remember the statue and head south and east.  Continuing along from
room to room he eventually found a gold statue and used it transporting him to
a slender room which lead to a chest, when opened he received the Marble Key.
When that he backtracked to the other gold statue and then used it.  Once
transported he ended up in a great pillared hall which led to the west.
Walking along it eventually bent to the north and ended up at a locked door.
Adol with his Ivory and Marble Key tried the Ivory Key, and it unlocked which
revealed another small hallway leading to a grand door.  Locked too he then
used the last key, the Marble Key and gained access to a rectangle room with a
chest in the top left corner and a circular emblem on the floor like up above
where he fought the wizard which worried him.  When he reached for the chest
it vanished and this imprint of a large centipede monster came to life.  A
large redish centipede attacked Adol by running around the room in no real
distinguishing pattern.  Adol figured with no pattern that he would just have
to avoid its sharp pinchers on its head and attack it anywhere.  Adol did just
that, and soon killed it and the chest reappeared.  Adol relieved approached
it and opened it to find what he was sent for, a Book of Ys, this one in
particular was the Book of Ys written by Hadal!  Victorious Adol headed back
up to the top floor of the shrine, but now with the key he looked around a
bit, and to his surprise west of the statue he originally came in from he
found the Armor Ring, and south and northeast of that statue in the far end of
the floor he found one other chest with a magnificent Ruby inside.

With his new found items and information from Goban Toba Adol headed back to
Zeptic Village to see the elder.  When inside with the elder he returned the
town's Silver Bell and was thanked deeply and rewarded with a spot to rest in
the future to regain all his "HPs".  Adol then proceeded to leave Zeptic
Village and headed back to see Sara in Esteria hoping that she would tell him
what the book says.  Once there he found that Sara was gone, but she had left
a letter behind.  In this letter she apologuizes for leaving but claims she
had to because she knew that the villagers were going to murder her because of
her vast knowledge of the Book of Ys, so she left.  Futhermore she notes that
she had a very important item for Adol, and left it with the poet Lair for him
to pick up.  On a closing note she lets Adol know that her crystal told her
that the next Book of Ys was deep in the abandoned mine to the northeast.  And
with these pieces of information he went to see Lair to get the item.  But,
unfortunately for Adol she would only give him this item in return for her
stolen Silver Harmonica.  A rejected (and probably pissed off) Adol then
decides to head to Pim's Shop to sell off the Necklace and Ruby he gained from
the Shrine knowing Pim would pay probably good money for them.  Once inside
Adol presented Pim with the items, he was quite unamuzed with the necklace and
gave him $500 for it because it was missing jewels on it that it used to have.
But he was very happy with the large Ruby and gave top dollar to Adol for it,
$1200.  (Editors Note:  With the money you get from these and all that you got
from fighting outside the shrine, and especially inside it I recommend you buy
all the best armors, swords, and shields because otherwise you WILL DIE with-
out them inside the mine.)  With Adol in the position he is in and knowing
where he must go, he grabs his gear and heads to the abandoned mine.

Once inside the mine it was quite dark which didn't bother Adol, but the limit
it put on his sight it made his travels more difficult.  Adol decided to press
forward and headed to the west of the entrance.  As he began to make his way
he came across some strong opposition and was glad that he equipped himself
with all the best armors, shields, and swords possible, and brought his level
of experience up too.  Adol was of course with a little work able to put down
the opposition on this depth with little problems.  When the passage gave him
the opportunity to Adol could head northwest and in other directions.  Adol
though chose to head northwest, and it was a wise decision.  In this area of
the floor Adol stumbled upon two treasure chests and opened them with his
Treasure Box Key.  Inside found a Healing Potion and was able to rejuvenate
his "HPs", and to his great surprise in the other chest was the Silver Armor!
Searching around a little bit more Adol decided to head south to see what he
could find.  And in the far southwestern area he found yet another treasure
chest, and inside was the Timer Ring.  With his treasures Adol decided to look
around a little more to see if he could find a door deeper into the mine, or
maybe more treasure, Adol found a door.

As Adol emerged down on the second level of the abandoned mine thinking of his
luck upstairs decided to east west again in hopes of scavenging more great
prizes.  As he headed west as luck would have it Adol found a treasure chest,
and inside he found a Roda Seed, hmm maybe it'll be useful later he thought
and held onto it.  Then continuing on farther to the west Adol yet again
stumbled upon another chest, and when he opened it to his surprise he found
Lair's Silver Harmonica.  Adol being pleased with himself knew when he
returned he could get whatever the item was that was left with her by Sara.
Now Adol working his way around headed into the southeastern part of the floor
found just one more treasure chest, and inside it he found the Healing Ring.
Then Adol working his way around some more found yet a third door just
centered north of the entrance to the second level.

As Adol entered the third floor of the mine he wondered what else he could
find in this mine, beyond eventually finding the Book of Ys Sara's letter
mentioned was here.  But to Adol's surprise there were tougher enemies on this
level of the mine, like nasty fast moving firebirds.  Adol pressing on from
the entrance decided to take the only way he could go, to the east, and then
to the northeast.  As he proceeded, as he went as far as he could he found a
treasure chest, and inside he found the Darm Key, which was the key that would
grant him passage to Darm Tower.  Adol then proceeded to the west end of this
level and found another chest and inside found a Healing Potion he could use
to refill his "HP".  Adol then headed south, and there he found a large grand
blue door which looked like the one he saw in the Shrine where he got Hadal's
Book of Ys and hoped another was inside.  When he stepped inside there was a
chest, but when he approached it, it vanished, and a large birdlike creature
appeared.  After studying this monster for a little bit he noticed that he
could only hit the thing when he was not in a multiple bats form.  Also Adol
found that he had to attack the things head when it was a solid entity.  Doing
so, Adol with a bit of work dispatched the birdlike monster and the chest then
reappeared.  Pleased with his victory he walked over and opened it to see his
prize, and a prize it was.  Adol had won another Book of Ys, Dabbies edition.

After escaping the abandoned mine Adol headed quickly back to Esteria to give
Lair her stolen Silver Harmonica.  When he returned Lair her Silver Harmonica,
the pleased girl kept her promise and gave Adol his item.  To his shock and
amazement it was a third Book of Ys, Toba's Book, and to further the pleasure
Lair played a great, yet soothing piece on her Silver Harmonica for Adol.
Feeling good about himself, and happy he got another Book of Ys, Adol headed
to Zeptic Village to see Jeva about the books.  On his way Adol after crossing
the bridge came across a large Roda Tree along the road to Zeptic Village.
Adol though, this time heard some whispering, as if he was being watched by
someone over by the Roda Tree Seed.  As he approached the Tree, it spoke to
him!  A stunned Adol listened to its message and was directed to see the Roda
Tree's brother south of where he was to find the secret of Esteria, and Adol
went looking.  A little ways south, and slighly to the west he found another
Roda Tree and tried to speak to it.  The Roda Tree warned him of great death
and destruction and told Adol that he must set out on a journey to stop it.
Then suddenly a bright light appeared coming from the tree's roots and from
the ground came the long lost Silver Sword!  After obtaining his sword, Adol
then headed towards Zeptic Village.

As Adol entered Zeptic Village he headed towards the home of Jeva.  Inside to
his surprise he found not only Jeva, but Feena, the girl he rescued earlier
from the cell in the Shrine.  Speaking to Feena, Adol found that Jeva is
allowing her to stay there, but she can't figure out why she was dragged into
the Shrine.  Whenever she tries to remember Feena says she gets a headache.
Then Adol turned to Jeva and she noticed he had three of the six Books of Ys.
Jeva offered to read the Volumes Hadal, Toba, and Dabbie to him and Adol
accepted.  Volume Hadal read that the prosperity of Ys began with the creation
of a magical metal known as Cleria.  On the highest mountain stands Solomon
Shrine which symbolized the great wealth of Ys.  The land of Ys was ruled by
two goddesses and six priests.  The goddesses were the embodiment of our
wealth and happiness.  Then Jeva picked up Volume Toba and read a short piece
to Adol which said that one day, a wave of terrible violence came upon Ys and
our lives were ripped apart.  Then she read after putting Volume Toba down a
longer passage from Volume Dabbie.  It said that the carnage came quickly and
with no warning.  Lava flowed through the land and soon all was ablaze.  We
believe the creation of Cleria was the source of this violent act of terror.
Therefore, we buried the Cleria deep beneath the ground.  If the Cleria ever
unearthed, the same tragedy will strike Ys again.  Then Jeva was done, but she
noted that the other three Books of Ys must rest in Darm Tower the festering
place of evil.  She went on to tell Adol to find her son Goban and ask him to
help get to the towers entrance, and then she ended on the note that Adol
seemed strong to her and would be ok.  On that note with a destination given
to him by Jeva he set out to find Goban.

Adol remembering that Goban was none other than Goban Toba, leader of the
thieves he headed up the mountain and straight to his hideout on the ridge.
Once inside Goban Toba speaks to you and says that he has heard of Adol's
bravery and that he was looking for the other Books of Ys.  He notes that the
locals fear Darm Tower and have so named it the Tower of Death.  He goes on as
saying that because of the evils and creeps inside the tower that a one way
door was installed and that once he enters he can not exit again.  Goban Toba
then notices that you have a Wing(if you do) and he takes it from you offering
to hold it until you exit because you can't use it inside to escape.  And with
this he opens the back door to his home which leads into a short cave and at
the end, the one way door into Darm Tower.

Once inside, as he was warned it would happen, the door slammed shut and
sealed itself from the outside, there was no going back now.  Walking along
Adol didn't find any real resistance on the first floor, just one enemy, a row
of jail cells to the west, and to the south of the entrance a door which would
take him out and around to the next floor.  Here there were more enemies, but
there were also four chests in this area.  One was though already open and
whatever was inside was gone, but in the other chests were the Evil Ring, a
Healing Potion, and the other a Mirror.  As Adol continued along her came into
a room with three statues made of stone, and suddenly there was a large flash.
When Adol came to his senses he found he was in a cell and that all his Silver
Items were gone.  Adol tried to talk to a man in the room but got no where so
he began to search for a way out.  When he touched the prison door a large
hole was blown in the wall scattering brick everywhere and a person immerged.
You find that this person is Colin, the person the Old Man outside had told
you was lost inside, but he doesn't look too lost to you.  He gives you the
Eagle Statue and tells you that you must seek out a man named Rasta and that
the key to finding him is to search for a long room with statues along the
wall.  Adol then departed back up the tower again and not much later he came
across such a room.  Not seeing a door he felt it would be wise to try on the
Mask of Eyes and see what might turn up, and something did, a door, and Adol
proceeded inside.  Heading south in this room with no enemies he came upon the
old man Rasta.  Rasta once he listed to your tale and that you had been given
an item by Colin and showed him the Eagle Statue he thanks you for returning
it.  Rasta is so thankful even that he bestows upon you the Blue Necklace
which Adol is told is vital for his mission and it will be required later.
Adol then decided to slip the Blue Necklace over his neck, and put the Evil
Ring on his finger and proceeded on.  Lucky for him that he did because this
time when he got back to the floor where he lost his Silver Items and was
transported to that cell he wasn't sent back.

As he proceeded onto the seventh floor of Darm Tower Adol found a lone chest
and inside, his stolen Silver Sword!  Proceeding on in contentment he went to
the west and found a set of stairs heading up to the eighth floor to a green
door.  Suspicious that something could be awaiting inside he headed in slowly.
As he entered he was jumped by a large mantis like creature.  Examining the
attack pattern of this monster Adol found that it could only throw three
boomerang like claws at one time and that when they were out it was vunerable
to a few sword attacks.  Seeing this weakness Adol continued to attack in this
manner until the monster gave up and died.  When it vanished Adol found that
two chests appeared and proceeded to open them.  One of the chest held a small
hammer, and the other had a great treasure, the fourth Book of Ys.

Proceeding to the stairs Adol headed up to the ninth floor and found himself
surrounded by four dangerous statues, and to save himself Adol froze them with
the Mirror.  Adol quickly headed east and found stairs that went up to the
tenth floor and when there found that on this floor there were two stairwells.
He noticed that the west door went outside the tower and the eastern door went
up to the eleventh floor, and that's where Adol went.  Inside Adol was all of
a sudden being quickly poisoned to death by gas and made a run for the first
door he could find on the right, and inside found a man to talk to.  Adol then
ran back into the poison room and out the door he first came in and took the
other door outside.  Adol then examined the area around him and decided to try
to crack a hole in the tower with the hammer to release the poison gas.  Adol
decided to start cracking pillars and worked his way west of the door.  When
Adol finally made it to the fifth pillar it seemed different in the way it
broke, and all of a sudden the gas began to vent out.  A pleased Adol then
headed back to the room that was poisonous and continued on and entered the
next door on the right where he found a man, Luta Gemma, had a talk with him
and put it in his mind to remember where he is.  Heading out back into the
once poisonous room and found a set of stairs that headed up to the thirteenth
floor which quickly lead to steps up to the fourteenth floor of Darm Tower.
Once inside the fourteenth floor he found another one of those large greenish
doors and remembering what happened last time entered slowly.  Suddenly this
large eyeball monster appeared, and after studying its movements decided the
best course of action was to just hit and run, once it was dead Adol was then
rewarded with the fifth Book of Ys, Gemma's Volume and a brooch.

Returning to the thirteenth floor Adol proceeded down to a mirror, and used in
conjuntion with the brooch.  He found that it would transport him places, and
he found himself in a mirror maze.  Following the mirrors and doorways ahead
of him, Adol eventually stumbled upon a chest and when opened he was able to
regain his Silver Armor.  Now looking for a way out of the mirror maze Adol
ended up in a room with mirrors that were side by side, and touching the
mirror on the right transported him to the place which had the stairs that led
him out of that awful maze.  Taking the stairs up Adol made it up to the
fifteenth floor of Darm Tower were he found a chest holding a powerful Battle
Shield.  Once he had it he looked for a way to exit and end up on the next
floor.  He found that when he headed west there was the exit that lead up to
the sixteenth floor which ended up being a crossway to an extension tower off
to the side of Darm Tower and proceed until he came to a green door.  Since he
still had his Blue Necklace and Evil Ring equipped the door easily opened and
inside to his amazement he found Lair, the poetess!  She explains to you that
she wanted to be caught and sealed in the tower because she had something to
give to you that you had to have on your journey up the tower, a pair of
Glasses.  She explained further that with these special Glasses Adol can read
any of the six Books of Ys.

Curious Adol pulled out the fourth Book of Ys, Messa's Volume and read a small
part.  The book said that the evil powers had shown their force.  A dark and
eerie stranger had been following us and began closing in.  All the village
people were terrified and could offer no defense against this vile devil and
the creatures who stalked the neighborhoods.  Finally, we escaped into Solomon
Shrine after being chased by six hatchet men.  Soon after this, the Goddesses
disappeared and have long ever since.  The next day the attacks suddenly
stopped.  We haven't seen the dark stranger since.  Then a more curious Adol
put away the book and then opened the fifth Book of Ys, Gemma's Volume and
continued to read on.  He read that a special amulat has been handed down for
generations within the Gemma family.  This deep blue amulat has the unique
power to break the wicked curse of the evil intruders.  With this new found
information Adol headed back out of the room and headed back down to the
eleventh floor where Luta Gemma was to talk with him, and once Adol spoke with
him he was rewarded with the Blue Amulet.

Adol then proceeded back from there up to the fifteenth floor and then took
the other set of stairs to the seventeenth floor of Darm Tower where he found
a chest with a Healing Potion inside to restore his "HPs" and looked for a way
out and up again.  From there he found to the west and found the stairs that
headed up to the eighteenth floor.  Once there he found the floor had two sets
of stairs and decided to take the one on right and ended up in a room on the
nineteenth floor which had a chest surrounded by four statues.  Remembering
all his occurances before he made sure to have the Blue Necklace and the Evil
Ring equipped and proceeded over and opened the chest and received the Battle-
Armor.  Then returning to the floor before he went to the left door and up a
long flight of steps up to the twentieth floor.  Going west through this floor
a hole suddenly appeared in the wall and Adol stepped inside.  In there he
found a chest with two guards protecting it.  Taking one on at a time and
using a combination of different ring powers from the Heal, Armor, and Timer
Rings he was able to win the battle.  When he approached the chest and opened
it he received the Flame Sword and then he exited the hole and proceeded west
until he approached the stairs to the next floor and went up.

On the twenty-first floor he entered yet another tiring hall of mirrors again.
Wandering around for awhile checking all his surroundings Adol came across a
place with three doorways.  After some hard thinking Adol chose to start with
the right and if need be, work his way back to the left.  He then found he was
in a passage that headed to the east and followed it to the end where there
were steps to the next floor.  On the twenty-second floor there was also many
mirrors, Adol touched them and appeared near another green door.  Inside Adol
was attacked by a pair of faces.  Adol noticed that besides obviously having
to avoid fireballs floating around the heads that he could walk on them and be
unharmed.  So when they began to come close together Adol ran between them to
try to keep them separate.  This seemed to weaken the creature and so he then
continued the attack and noticed the creature began to weaken by the fact the
fireballs became fewer and fewer.  Eventually the fire burned out, and so did
the odd creatures life force.

Adol then proceeded to go west and then north up a a few long flights of steps
and came upon yet another green door.  This time it didn't open using the
Blue Necklace and Evil Ring so Adol thought to himself what would work and
remembered the Blue Amulet he got from Luta Gema that was mentioned in the
Book of Ys, Gemma's Volume.  When he placed it around his neck and pushed at
the door it creaked open, and inside to his surprise he found the keeper of
the sixth Book of Ys, Dark Fact.  Adol could tell he wasn't going to give it
up without a fight and Dark Fact made that quite clear by attacking Adol to
protect his possession.  Adol then remembering Silver can hurt Dark Fact he
can protect himself with Silver too he equipped the Silver Sword, Shield, and
Armor.  Suddenly the platform they were on arose into the air and Dark Fact
pressed the attack.  Dark Fact moved around the platform flailing fireballs at
Adol while trying to keep some distance.  Adol though hit him with the Silver
Sword and found that the floor would break away under that area when he did
so.  So Adol waited until he would run around the outside of the platform and
would chase after Dark Fact and just kept sticking his sword into him, further
damaging Dark Fact, but also making the floor collapse leaving less room to
maneuver.  Dark Fact after awhile was beginning to look pretty sorry and worn
out, but so did Adol.  Eventually though Adol triumphed over the evil Dark
Fact and he collapsed.

Adol was victorious and claimed his prize, the sixth and final Book of Ys,
Fact's Volume.  And a pleased, yet tired and battle worn Adol pulled out his
Glasses to read Volume Fact.  When he opened it he found that it read that
although the attacks had stopped, we could still feel the terrifying presence
of evil.  We decided it would be safer to lift the land out of harms reach.
We hope to return one day to our former tranquility.  We have placed the
collective powers of Ys into these six books in the hope that a brave warrior
will somehow rid out land of these demons.  Only then we can rest in peace.
As Adol closed the book and replaced his Glasses a brilliant white light began
to form around Adol.  The light grew from something quite small into a white
light encasing Adol.

At the same time in another far off dark place we see a poorly lit room with
a mirror of some sort and a man beams in.  He says that all communication to
Darm Tower has been cut off, what should be do to stop this rouge.  The room
and mirror lights up and a voice immerges saying that his bravery presents an
interesting challenge and wants to see how far this Adol character can go
before we crush him.

Then back at Darm Tower a now unconscious Adol is spinning in the light
upright with six balls floating about him.  Suddenly there is a large blast of
light and Adol is placed in a large ball of light and is sent straming off
into the sky higher and higher into the air.  Now as he flies through the sky
higher and higher we see in another place a girl out in a field running over
the hillside.  The ball of light Adol is in moves closer and closer to this
odd floating land in the sky, cound this be Ys?  Suddenly the ball arcs down
and clashes into a beam of pure energy into the ground catching the girls
attention.  As the beam hits the ground Adol unconscious floating on his back
is lowered down onto the ground and the beam of light vanishes as quick as it
appeared.  She comes over to Adol and as he awakens he sees her looking down
at his face.  She askes Adol if he is alright and Adol returns by asking who
might you be to her.  She explains that she is Lilia from Rance Village and
that she felt a cold shiver down her spine and was compelled to come into this
direction.  This is where I found your body lying on the ground and she
finished by saying she saw his body surrounded by a white pure light.  Adol
then asked where am I do her and Lilia said that this is the Land of Ys.  She
continued to say that there are many goons on patrol in this area and that
they should quickly return to her village.  Adol agrees and says she is right
and to let's go.  Lilia smiles back and they headed quickly to Rance Village.

[IX. Ys Book II Walkthrough]--------------------------------------------------

As Adol entered Rance Village with Lilia he decided to scout around and talk
to a few of the villagers before entering the village Elder's home to speak
with him.  As he talked with a few people he found out a little bit of news on
Lilia's condition, she's sick, which troubled Adol.  He also found that one
who knew about the inside of a place he'll probably end up has the mark of Ys
etched into it with six spots and at each area a different spot has a crystal
imbedded on it.  Adol remembered the mark from before arriving in Ys and he
figured it had to do something with the Six Priests of Ys.  Adol then headed
to the southeastern part of town and stumbled upon Bernise's house, she is
Lilia's mother.  Upon entering she talked with Adol and let him know that
Lilia though looking well now is deathly ill and was told she would only live
about three months longer.  She knew though that Dr. Flair could make a cure
for her to let her live.  Bernice handed Adol a letter for Dr. Flair to assist
in Lilia's hopeful recovery if Adol could only find him.  She also knew that
the road ahead was difficult and gave him $300 gold pieces to get a nice sword
and some protection.  As he began to exit Bernice stopped Adol and told him
not to let Lilia know that she is dying and that she didn't know either about
her illness and it would be best to stay that way.

Adol exited Bernice's house and decided he must immediately find not only the
Elder now, but Dr. Flair as well.  Heading north from her house he found a man
off to the side of the item shop looking in distress.  Adol asked to see if he
was alright, and to his surprise he stumbled upon the doctors brother.  He
told Adol that he needs help recovering the doctor from an underground mine.
A carrier pigeon brought a message back from him stating that he was somewhere
within a mine and the passage caved in behind him trapping him inside.  Adol
knew now that he must find this mine, as soon as, possible to save the doctor
so Lilia wouldn't die.  Adol then backed away from him and headed slightly due
west to the Elder's home to find his wife.  She lets Adol know he had left for
the Ruins and would be back later.

Leaving the Elder's home Adol headed for the shop to get some gear with the
money Bernise gave him.  Inside Adol found that his money wouldn't go to far
and decided he'd have to get a Short Sword and the Chain Armor which would use
up all his money.  After buying the gear he equipped his new goods and headed
to the entrance to the Ruins from Rance Village in the northwestern end of
town.

Upon entering the Ruins Adol knew he must locate the Elder and decided to take
a look around and hope he stumbled upon him.  In the ruins he had to head to
the right and south a bit before he could go another direction. He decided to
go right around the corner and up a bit and then off to the left which led up
yet again and then turned to the right.  Then he had two options, to go down
and right a bit, or northward, Adol went down.  To Adols surprise he came upon
a treasure chest and opened it, and inside he located an Ancient Slate.  Adol
then backtracked and went north and continued to an open place with two small
paths that went up a bit and followed it to another part of the clearing.
Here on the ground he spotted something, a Roda Tree Nut, and took it for a
bit later as it would be handy to have.  Adol then backtracked all the way
back to where he first came in to and then headed to the right as far as he
could coming upon more trees and headed north through them.  As he went north
he saw two tough looking goons standing side by side and decided to pass them
for now.  More northward he came upon a man and talked to him, he Regs told
Adol he needed help killing those goons to get the contents of a chest that is
apparently behind them, Adol agreed.  As Adol approached the silent towering
goons he took a long look and decided a slowly timed attack first starting on
the right goon would be the best.  As Adol swiped at the goon hurting it a bit
it dealt Adol a strong blow.  Adol had to back off and catch his breath before
trying again.  Adol for a long time continued this pattern unit he dispatched
the goon on the right, and did the same with the one on the left.  Adol then
went to claim his prize, the treasure chest contents.  Upon opening it Adol
uncovered the Wand of the Holy World and took it to Regs who with amazement
that Adol got it told him to go to the room behind him and touch the Goddess
Statue with it.  Adol did, and a bright white light engulfed him and a funny
feeling passed over him.  The Goddesses of Ys bestowed upon him the ability
to harness the power of magic.

Adol then worked his way back out of the Ruins not able to find the Elder
hoping he returned to Rance Village.  The Elder did return fortunatley for
Adol.  Upon speaking to the Elder he apologuized to Adol for the trouble he
caused him trying up to him.  The Elder continued then to speak about the six
Books of Ys he holds letting him know he needs to return them to the Holy area
beyond the ruins to these six rooms each with a statue of one of the Priests
of Ys as the books have their souls bound within there pages.  Adol agreed to
return the Books of Ys to there final resting places in the Holy area.  The
Elder told him to return to the Ruins and talk to a man there named Astal who
would open the way to the mine.  Adol then departed and headed to Astal.

At the gate where Astal stands guard Adol told him what he was directed to do
and he opened the way for Adol.  Inside Adol continued forward spying a door
which he couldn't enter now and progressed on until he came across a large
door and entered.  Inside this room he saw an emblem, the seal of Ys, with the
six marks on the floor, one colored in representing one of the Six Books of Ys
conscribed by one of the Six Priests of Ys.  In the middle of the back end of
the room Adol spotted a large statue, upon approaching it he heard a voice,
the voice of the spirit of Priest Hadal, and returned his book to him.  In
return Hadal's spirit refreshed Adol and he continued on.  In the cavern Adol
proceeded on first taking the east direction, and at the next chance he went
to the west, then east, and then west once more, and again came across another
large door.  Inside again he found another holy area, this one is for the
Priest Toba.  Inside he approached the statue and talked with it, returned the
book, and was refreshed again once more and continued on.

Adol proceeded outside the door and headed through the passage to the far
right.  From here he proceeded to the west, and at the next opportunity to the
east, and through the middle of a junction he came upon from where he located
a Pick Axe, and then left.  Adol proceeded to the west, and west again at the
next chance, then went to the east, then north, and found a caved in mine.
Here Adol used the Pick Axe, inside he discovered the missing Dr. Flair from
Rance Village.  Adol explained to him the bid that Lilia is in with her
illness.  Dr. Flair let him know that to make it for her to save Lilia's life
that he would need the Karaseta Flower to make the cure which is in the mine.
With that Dr. Flair and Adol departed in their own directions.  Adol headed
out to the west, and then to the south, west again and continued until he came
across the next big door.  Inside was the third of the six statues which hold
the spirits of the Priests of Ys, this one Dabbies.  Inside like with the
other two he stepped up the statue, returned the book, was given a message,
healed.  Adol proceeded up and then claimed the Cleria Ring, and headed out.

From the door Adol headed south, then east into a room, at the bottom left of
the room he spotted a chest, and inside he claimed the Toba's Magic of Fire.
Adol please headed back out to the north, and farther north to a open area
which he took the northeast exit from.  He then proceeded west, and then took
in the next area the middle road, which went west, and found another large
door.  Inside Adol located the fourth sacred room, this one was of the Priest
Messa.  Inside the same pattern of events occurred of placing the book, a
message, and some healing.  From here Adol left and headed to the east, and
then north to yet another door.  Inside was the fifth Priest of Ys's statue,
the Priest Gemma, who gave Adol the same treatment and a messagee like the
other four.  Leaving this area with one book left Adol proceeded to the west
until he came upon a staircase which he walked down and continued along a
passage at the bottom which opened into a larger room, a room with a Boss.

As he steps into a room with with an emblem on the ground which is circular
and has six spots on it an enemy appears!  Adol is suddenly attacked by a
large ugly monster boss.  Adol watched briefly and notices that this monster
is highly predictable in its attack pattern.  If Adol was to stay a safe range
from either of the side walls and face north he could easily attack the thing.
When it appeared in front of Adol he had to attack with his Fire Magic quick,
and the break and run before the boss could counter attack with its multiple
shots.  After awhile of following this pattern Adol killed the beast after
multiple Fire Magic shots to the face.  And then continued north out of the
room on with his search for the Kerseta Flower, and the sixth statue, the
Priest Fact.  Outside he headed south, and the east, and north again in a
winding cave and came upon a pond.  Here he found the savior of Lilia back in
Rance Village, the rare Kerseta Flower.

Backtracking away from the pond to the south and west, he headed through a
passage, and then into another chamber.  Here he found a doorway and proceeded
to go through it and came upon another chest, and inside was the Dabbie's
Magic of Light.  From here Adol headed south through the door and west to a
hidden southern doorway in an alcove.  In here was yet again another chest,
inside the Evil Bell.  From here Adol knew he could go no farther cleaning out
the Mine, confused at not locating the sixth statue he headed back to Rance
Village to deliver the Kerseta Flower and get better equipment for his trials
ahead.

Back in Rance Village Adol quickly tracked down Dr. Flair in the northeast
part of town and gave him the flower.  Dr. Fliar quickly whipped up the cure,
Lilia's Medicene, and Adol quickly delivered it to Lilia's mother Bernice at
her home.  The greatful Bernice rewarded Adol by healing him and a reward of
magic, Hadal's Magic of Return which when used will take him back to any town
he's previously visited.  Outside he talked with Lilia who had taken the cure,
needless to say she was greatful and will deeply love Adol forever.  Adol then
headed over to the shop and purchased from Guido the Long Sword, and any other
types of gear he could afford.  Adol then heard about a problem in the a house
in town with a basement from which evil noises came from.  Adol went to the
place, Jira's home, to investigate the dungeon.  Adol hearing what Jira did,
but not seeing a thing remembered he had the Evil Bell and rang it.  All of a
sudden the northern wall of the dungeon shook and broke open.  A constant
stream of different types of monsters came from the wall endlessly.  As Adol
fought them off he noticed that a chamber was beyond the wall and luck be with
him he charged through the monsters and went north.  Running along with his
sword out he located a large door like the ones in the mine, he knew that this
must be the last sacred place, the sanctum of the Statue of the Priest Fact,
which it was.  Inside he was greated by Priest Fact who told him a message and
refreshed him as the other five did.  Priest Fact though gave him one new item
the Scroll of Guidance which will allow him to gain more information in his
quest from statues of the Goddesses of Ys from around the Land of Ys.  Also
Priest Fact broke the seal on that first door you crossed going into the mine,
thus breaking the seal so you can journey to Solomon Shrine.  Having finished
his business, Adol fought his way back out of the way came fighting all the
way.

Back in Rance Village restoring his strength headed back to Bernice's Home and
she refilled his Magic Points (MPs), which she let him know she would do at
any time for him.  Once he fully restored his strength and magic power he then
headed back to Astal at the gate in the Ruins and proceeded to the formerly
sealed door.  Upon entering it he headed into the Ice Ridge of Noltia....
