Hello all, here's a mini faq about Burai II for the PC Engine. This game was
also widely released for Japanese PCs such as the MSX, PC-88, PC-98 and Towns.
Unlike the prequel, PC Engine is the only console version out there. This FAQ
is based on the PC Engine version. This FAQ may or may not be suitable for the
PC versions (What I do read is that PC versions are more difficult).

This FAQ is not meant to comprehensive. That is, I'll tell you about the
basics to get you started, but I will not write about each magic, item, etc.
You find out on your own for all that (that's what I did)! The game is
relatively straightforward, and the game interface makes it quite intuitive
even for non-Japanese readers. It uses a lot of icons to indicate what items
are, what status they affect, etc. Hence it shouldn't that much of a pain.

A side note - I didn't stick to straight romaji, but rather transliterated to
best I could. Of course, some of it could still be off a bit. However I find
sticking straight to romaji ridiculous when the word is clearly not (supposed)
to be of Japanese origin - i.e. Instead of writing "Ririan", I wrote "Lillian".
IF you don't like it - tough shit.

WALKTHROUGH
===========

Chapter 1: Sakyo & Nine Tail
----------------------------
- You'll start out in a dungeon. Find your way around the dungeon, collecting
 five different colored stones.
- There's a spot on the northeastern side where you'll see a spray of water
coming out. Touch it to get all your health back. You can raise Exp using
 this point as a base.
- Once you collect all five stones, touch the gate (on a mound) that's just
located just west of the healing spray above.
- You'll enter another 5-level dungeon. For the first four levels, you will
have to pass through a gate. You have to use the correct stone to pass
through without fighting a "mid boss". That said, the bosses aren't that
strong if you raised from Exp. The correct colors are:
   + 1st Floor: Blue Stone
   + 2nd Floor: Gray Stone
   + 3rd Floor: White Stone
   + 4th Floor: Red Stone
- Go through the 5th and last gate, and you will come to the end of chapter 1.

Chapter 2: Alec & Kuku
----------------------
- Start out in Uranaishi Village.  Talk to all the villagers. Find out about a
library in Iruine Town, to the east.
- On the way to Iruine, find hot springs which will give your health back. You
 can raise Exp around here.
- Go to Iruine. Get equipment for your party, and find the library. Talk to the
librarian, and start looking for books on the shelves. Find one until you see
one with ancient script. Talk to librarian again.
- Go back to the hot springs.  Go up along the east edge of the screen, around
the hot springs until you find a path leading north. Follow
through until you
find a hut. Talk to the old man in the hut.
- Go back to Iruine, and talk to the ship captain. Take the ship, and go on to
 Mode Island.
- Leave the pier, find Lulu town just south of the pier. Talk to everyone.
- Go west until you see a cave. Enter the cave, you'll see an injured boar.
Help him out and he'll open a path. Follow through, until you find one (of
the three) men sitting around a cave somewhere. Talk to the old man, then
follow through the cave until you exit on the west side of the island.
- Go west until you find the town of Sarasen. Go to the center of town, and go
see the statue of Kuku's parents. You can heal here, and raised more Exp
around this town if you need to.
- Go find the music museum in southwest corner of town. Talk to the curator
over the counter, then go and look at instruments on the right until you find
a harmonica. Take the harmonica, talk to the curator, and exit the town.
- Find your way back to the cave, and go back to the old man that you found the
 first time.
- Then, find your way around just south until you find the second old man.
 He'll give you a pickaxe.
- The pickaxe allows you to break through smaller boulders in front of certain
entrances. Find your way around the cave again until you find the third old
 man. This concludes this chapter.

Chapter 3: Gonza & Maimai
-------------------------
- Start out in the town of Ganma, starting your part-time job hunt. Go to the
cake shop, then to the toy shop, where you'll get a toy clock.
- Exit town, go west, then slightly north to Gomez.
- In the town, go to the tea house. From this point, you can come back here to
drink tea and restore your magic (but not your health. You'll have to use
heal magic for that). You'll also get the Maneki Neko. Then you can go shrine
located above the tea house, and talk to the cleric.
- Exit town, go north, then northwest at the road fork, which leads you to the
 town of Zone.
- In the town, go the tatami shop (just above the clinic). Then talk to
 everyone in town, and exit.
- Go straight north to the town of Pointer. In the town, go to the bar, and
fight the bartender. He's not that difficult.
- Exit Pointer. Go east, then north at the fork to the town of Shyda.
- Go the the vegetable shop. Go in twice, and watch Maimai scurry off screen.
 Gonza will join her again.
- Exit town. Go east, then south to Garogano. In the town, talk to the
 construction worker.
- Now the circus will come in to town.  Go see the circus tent, just south of
the castle, which is located straight west of Garogano.
- Watch events take place. Four more members will join the party - Vongole,
Bolognese, Napolitan, and Mentaiko (all names of popular pasta dishes in
 Japan).
- Now, you can go around to all the towns, and just before you enter the town,
you'll notice a dirt patch by all the towns. You can perform circus acts with
your party members in this patch.
- Perform your acts in all the towns. In one particular performance, Hayate's
father, Jyakimaru, will show up and give you a demon hailing orb.
- After you perform around all the towns, you can now go to the forest shrine.
The entrance is located just north of Ganma, you'll see a big tree in the
middle of the forest. You can now go inside the tree which leads you to a
dungeon. If you need more exp at this point, around this dungeon entrance is
 not a bad place.
- Make your way through the dungeon. You'll have to fight mid bosses at later
stages to retrieve a key to progress to the next level.
- After the 4th level, you'll come to a cut scene, and this will bring you to
 the end of this chapter.

Chapter 4: Lomar & Virgil
-------------------------
- You'll start off in Lomar's mansion. Go around and talk to every single
person. Once done, go up to 2F, and talk to Sharon.
- Exit mansion, go west to the town of Iriri.
- In Iriri, head toward the Northeastern corner, until Virgil pops up. He will
 join your party.
- Raise a bit of Exp and buy some equipment. Then go up to top end of Iriri,
where you can take the boat to the island of Giba.
- Once on Giba, go south onto the town of Ratel. In Ratel, go to the bar and
see Albert. Here, Sophi (male) will join your party.
- Raise a bit more Exp, and equip Sophi with some stronger equipment.
- Go back to Iriri via boat. You'll notice the enemies are a lot stronger
around now. You can again raise Exp around here if necessary.
- Go back toward the mansion, and you'll come across a boss fight against a
giant robotic fish. Defeat the boss and head toward the mansion. You'll
notice the mansion is on fire.
- Enter the mansion, and look in all the rooms in 1F for Lomar's family (you
can't go up to 2F). Once you look all over, go toward the northeast section
of 1F, until you see a room with a crack heading outside. Go to it, and the
party will go through to outside the mansion.
- Lomar and Virgil will follow someone that scurries across the screen, and you
will be in control of Sophi.
- Head west, and an (automated) boss fight will occur. Watch the fight.
- You'll be back to Lomar and Virgil. Watch the following scenes, and you'll be
transported 6000 years back in time, on Kamui Island.
- Once you regain control, go up and find Larf and Teris, who will join your
party. Continue heading up, and you'll find yourself heading up some canyons.

the top cabin of the boat.
- Once in the cabin, you'll be shown a map of the area, with dots marking the
ferries around the area which you are able to access.
- Choose the first ferry to left. When you go enter the ferry, you'll see bunch
of crew lying about. Go around, "talk" to all of them until you find a key.
Continue downward until you see a monster. Fight the monster, and exit the
 ferry.
- Continue to this by going around the ferries one by one. You'll find that the
second and fourth ferries you visit have also been attacked, while the crew
of the third ferry is safe. Don't forget to upgrade your party member's
equipment as you make your rounds.
- After the fourth ferry, when you return to the village, you'll find that the
 village has also been attacked.
- Go around the village, and defeat all the monsters. You can restore your
 energy back in Hayate's house.

 castle.
- Enter the castle, and your party will soon split into two smaller parties.
First you'll control Lillian and Musashi.

where you cannot win. Once Lillian and Musashi are defeated, you'll switch
over to controlling Hayate and Plasma.
- Make your way again to 3F, to the same boss area. Watch the cut scene unfold,
and this bring you to the end of this chapter.

Chapter 6: Alec & Kuku
----------------------
- This chapter is straightforward. You'll start out in the Water Creature
Castle. Simply fight through 5 levels, to the boss.  Should be simple to get
through, and go on to the next chapter.

Maimai. They will join your party.

 Sarua.
- In Sarua, go up till you see the castle entrance. Talk to the guards, and
then try to exit, until a boy comes running in to your party. Then go to the
boy's house (next to the weapons shop). You'll get news about Hayate and
Lillian (Lisa), and you'll get the pass documentation.
- Go east, to the fort of Gante. The pass will allow you to go beyond the fort.
 Go north to Shyda.
- In Shyda, talk to everyone, then go west to Pointer.
- In Pointer, go to the building next to the weapon shop. You'll get news about
Lomar. Exit town and head south.
- On your way down, you'll run into Gasro, an old foe, but he'll run away. From
this point, go Southwest to a pyramid.
- Make your way through the pyramid maze. You'll have to touch the right signs
to warp you to right places. It's not too difficult to get through just by
trial and error. Get to 2F of the maze, and you'll find Lomar and Virgil.
They will not join you at this time.
- Once you exit the pyramid, go south. There will be an exchange with Virgin
and Larf. Larf will join your party.

 shop.
- Go back to Gomez, and talk to Shishiya. Now make you way back to Sarua, and
go east. You'll come across a new bridge that connects to the land on the
east side. Go across, and down passing a cave on the way.
- Once you pass, Lomar will come and join your party in place of Larf.
- From here, go west, and north to Lagante Mountain. Make your way across to
the top, and this will bring you to the end of this chapter.

Final Chapter: All Eight Orb Warriors
-------------------------------------
- You start in an alternate dimension. Make you way through the initial maze to
the Alternate Dimension Castle at top.
- In the final dungeon, there are columns that are red or blue. Touch these and
you will either get your health (red columns) or magic (blue columns) back.
The dungeon is 7 stories high. From 2F to 5F, portion of your party members
will stay back to fight the level boss and the rest of the members will
continue on. The ones that stay back are:
   + 2nd Floor: Lomar
   + 3rd Floor: Maimai & Gonza
   + 4th Floor: Alec & Kuku
   + 5th Floor: Sakyo
- Once you make it to the end 7F, the remaining members of your party (Hayate
and Lillian) will face the final boss, Veed.
- Beat the boss (who isn't all that difficult), sit back, and enjoy the
 ending.

And that's about it. Hope the faq helped out those of you who took time to play
this little obscure RPG.
