                FAQ by: Fire_Pro_Fan

===========================================================

Released in Japan on the Super Famicom back in July 1993,
Death Brade was the 16 bit port of the Arcade Wrestling game
"Death Brade - Mutant Fighter" (also known simply as "Mutant
Fighter to the rest of the world).

Due to system limitations of the Super Famicom, Death Brade
only featured seven of the twelve fighters featured in Mutant
Fighter and omitted a large portion of Mutant Fighter's voice
audio and sound effects in the process.

Though often considered to be the most inferior of the three
variations of Death Brade (the third and superior version
was ported on the Japanese "FM Towns" console) Death Brade
still stands as an early Wrestling/Fighting hybrid with an
interesting assortment of character designs that would pave
the way for future monster fighters such as Capcom's
Darkstalkers and Rare's Killer Instinct franchises.

"Win the tournament and take
the throne.
The Kingdom will be yours.

Win or die,
there is no escaping
the deatmatch!

Fight on fearless
warriors!"   - From the Death Brade SFC instruction manual.

******GAMEPLAY******

========================================================

The main objective of Death Brade is to deplete all of
the health of an opponent. The first player to have their
health bar fully depleted loses the match.

==========
TIME OVER:
==========

when the time limit of the match has ended.In 1PLAYER
mode, reaching a TIME UP will result in an automatic loss
for Player 1 regardless of how much remaining health the
player has.

In 2PLAYER mode, the player with the most health at the end
of the time limit will win the match.

=====
DRAW:
=====

In 2Player mode, where both players have the same amount of
victories at the end of the third match or result in three
consecutive TIME UPS, the match will end in a DRAW where
neither player will win the match.

In 1Player mode, a DRAW results in an automatic loss for
Player 1.

================
Deathblow Meter:
================

Whenever a player takes damage, a special energy meter
located under the player's health bar will begin to fill
up.

The Deathblow Meter is represented by eight arrows. With
each attack, another arrow is lit up.

When all eight arrows of a player's Deathblow meter are
lit, the player's Deathblow Meter will begin flashing with
an "OK" icon appearing; indicating that the player now has
the option to perform their signature "Deathblow" grapple.

==========
Deathblow:
==========

A highly damaging special grapple that each character
contains. A character's Deathblow can only be activated
while their Deathblow Meter is flashing.

==========
CONTINUE?:
==========

When Player 1 loses a match against the computer in
1PLAYER mode, a continue screen will appear with a ten
second countdown.

If the player presses START or one of the attack buttons,
the player will restart the match against the last opponent.

If the player allows the continue countdown to reach 0 seconds,
the game will end with a "GAME OVER".

boss character Arch Mage.

========================
Trick The Dopple Ganger:
========================

Run towards the left or right spiked walls of Dopple
Ganger's stage the "Hell Ring" and allow Dopple
Ganger to run after you.

Then, right before running into the wall, move out
of the way at the last second before Dopple Ganger
has a chance to react.

If done correctly, Dopple Ganger will run straight
into one of the spike walls hurting himself in the
process.

===============
Arch Mage Tips:
===============

As the final boss of Death Brade, Arch Mage is
the most difficult opponent to face (and for
good reason).

Unlike the six other combatants who rely heavily
on throws and strikes, Arch Mage prefers to keep
his distance from the player while using a series
of projectile and teleport attacks.

To defeat the Mage, the player has to get up close
to the Mage and attempt to grapple him while dodging
the following attacks:

Teleport:
---------
when Arch Mage raises his hands in the air, step
away immediately. Coming into contact with Mage
during his Teleport technique will drain a large
amount of a player's health in seconds.

Arch Mage will teleport as a means to keep his
distance from a player; initiating this technique
when the player gets too close for comfort.

On the plus side, after Arch Mage teleports to another
area of the screen, (which is always in a diagonal
fashion) he will remain vulnerable to attacks and
grapples for a short period of time.

Homing Fireballs:
-----------------
As the final boss, Arch Mage possesses the ability to
shoot a variety of projectile attacks; one of which is
Mage's Homing Fireballs technique which circles the
player for several seconds.

The best strategy to avoid this attack is to block
the  Fireballs (hold the X Button) until they
disappear entirely or time the release of each wave
and jump to avoid them.

Fireball Saucer:
----------------
The Fireball Saucer takes the form of a large
circular projectile that travels quickly once
fired with one single shot.

Like Mage's Tri Fireball attack, quickly move
above or below Mage's line of fire to avoid
being hit.

Homing Flame:
-------------
One of Arch Mage's most damaging attacks; Arch Mage
will raise his hands in the air (just as Mage does
to start his "Teleport" attack) and combust intO a
small flame that will follow the player dishing out
decent amounts of damage on impact.

To make matters worse, Mage's Homing Flame technique
has the potential to hit the player multiple times,
launching the opponent into a powerful air juggle.

The most ideal way to dodge Mage's Homing Flame is to
outrun the flame as best as possible since jumping
towards the flame increases the player's chances of
being air juggled.

Fireball Explosion:
-------------------

Arch Mage's Deathblow technique.

Arch Mage will raise his hands as the Deathblow
sound effect will be played signalling a wave of
fireballs that will spread out in each direction.

Unfortunately, this attack is unblockable and can
be executed anywhere without grappling the player.
