BE SURE TO READ THIS PART! You can enjoy this faq as long as you don't
change any part of it, uncluding this notice. Also, you can distribute and
print it but only for personal use, and you may NEVER charge any money for
it. Finally, if you want to use this faq on your site you will need to ask
me for it, and I think I will grant it to you...
This one sure is hot... You start by playing a match with Tsubasa in Sao
Paulo FC, you don't even need to use his best special shot (the 3rd
power, for those who don't know japanese). Then you will play with some
pals from the Japanese National Team, like Taro Misaki and Kojiro Hyuga
(Wakashimazu is in the same team, Mexico City, so you'll have him too
^_^ His sankakugeri his a great help to stop the opponent's shots, until
you have the great goal saver Genzo Wakabayashi). After finishing this
part of the game you will finally get to play with the japanese national
team, the first matches will be really easy but when you reach the
battle against Brazil expect some serious problems (unlike the second
match against USA, in which Ishizaki will learn his strange banana shot,
which you should use to get the ball away from your goal, since it can't
be used for anything else). On the finals you will play against Germany
(Now you get the "Challenge of the Kaiser" quote, no?), it will be
surely hard because they may have more 3 levels than you so prepare to
lose just to build up (you will finish up playing against Brazil again,
but I believe you will make it).
When you finish the game you will be able to play with every player in
the Vs. mode and even be able to use all their special shots. You can
build your own team choosing your characters one by one (or let the
console chose them for you).

This manga talks about a boy who enjoys playing soccer more than anything in
his life. The story starts when he moves into a new city, where he meets
Ishizaki and the great goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi from the Shutetsu school,
the champion of Japan. After a individual confrontation between them, Tsubasa
meets Roberto Hongo, which will be his coach, and we assist to the great game
"Nankatsu vs. Shutetsu". In the middle of the game Taro Misaki arrives and he
will form the "Golden Combination" with Tsubasa, ending the game by 2-2.
Together they will play on a new team, Nankatsu (yeah, the same name but a
different team) and come up to the national championship, where they start by
losing against Meiwa (with Kojiro Hyuga and Takeshi Sawada in it) by 6-7, they
win to Tachibana Twins’ Hanawa (those two had a really strange but original way
of playing) by 3-2, to Nakanishi’s Naniwa by 5-1 and to Jun Misugi’s Mushashi
(he was really good, but had heart problems) by 5-4. So, the finals will be...
"Nankatsu vs. Meiwa" (again!), but this time it will be even more interesting
since both team have new goalkeepers, as Ken Wakashimazu for Meiwa and
Wakabayashi for Nankatsu (he was hurt, so he hadn’t play up to now; this will
be his last game, since he is going to Germany to became a professional
player), finishing this very long game by 4-2, Nankatsu winning. I shall
mention Nankatsu’s first goal, in which Misaki (this was his last game too,
since his father was going to move to another place) and Tsubasa shoot at the
same time, using an impressive technique that will be called "Twin Shot".
The story continues 2 years from that championship, during this time Tsubasa
won two other times the national championship and tries to win a third time,
feat never achieved by anyone else. After playing against Azuma-ichi, a team in
which a really rough player named Sõda plays (he damages Tsubasa), they play
against some old pals, like Hanawa (Tachibana twins used a new technique called
Skylab) and Tsubasa finally master a shot that will be his special, the Drive
Shot, against the giant Hiroshi Jito, who played for Hirado. On the finals they
play against Toho, a team from Tokyo in which Hyuga, Wakashimazu and Takeshi
now play. Well... sort of, the coach didn’t want Hyuga to play but he did it
after all, using his special, Tiger Shot. After another long game, it finishes
in a tie (4-4), being both teams called winner (in this national tournament
there aren’t any penalty kicks in the end of the games)...
Now the best players will go into the national team in order to play in an
international tournament in France. After some preparation matches, one of
which against Wakabayashi and Karl Heinz Schneider (the "Kaiser" of European
Soccer, both playing for Hamburg SV), they win to Italy and their "Perfect
Keeper" Gino Hernandez by 2-1 and to Argentina (with "soccer prodigy" Diaz and
his friend Pascual, Diaz was surely impressive but Japan's team work made them
win). After wining to France in the penalty kicks (5-4), they will finally play
to Germany, which includes Schneider (the "Kaiser"), Kartz, Magas (or Margus, I
prefer using the first one since it sounds me better), Schester and Dutter
Muller (a giant keeper), and they win by 3-2. Tsubasa goes to Brazil, to play
for San Paulo FC with his old coach from the times of early Nankatsu, Roberto
Hongõ. And this is where the first set of manga’s finish, after 37 chapters...
0.2 Story of Captain Tsubasa World Youth
This set of 18 chapters starts with the presentation of a new japanese
character named Aoi Shingo, who becomes a fan of Tsubasa after his team being
beaten by Nankatsu (Tsubasa's old team in Japan), so he goes to Italy in order
to be a better player. After much trouble, he gets to join Inter Milan, whose
goalkeeper is Gino Hernandez, who becomes Shingo's friend. Then, we get to see
the brazillian championship's final, Tsubasa against the brazillian prodigy,
Carlos Santana, who (like Tsubasa) is also able to learn some of the opponent's
techniques. At the same time, a plot from Gamo (a coach that now appears) is
unveiled... He made a team of seven players (Real Japan 7, if you are
wondering) that would confront the japanese nation team (split in 3 groups of 7
players), and if those last ones lost, 7 players would be thrown out of the
team. Sadly, they lost, so Hyuga, Misaki, Jitõ, Sõda, Nitta, Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana are thrown out of the team and Wakashimazu also leaves the team (he
says he doesn't want to be just a replacement for Wakabayashi), making harder
to Japan getting a win in the coming event, Asian Cup. With the help of Tsubasa
(that came back from Brazil) they manage to win the first two matches, but they
have a hard time against Thailand, since the 3 Konsawatto brothers are really
good at aerial soccer and Shinpurasu Bunnark (a tough defender who uses his
Muay-Thai skills in the field) can hurt Tsubasa, making him not able to attack.
Luckly, Wakabayashi arrives when the score was 4-1, and although he can't catch
any balls (he had both hands broken, due to shots of Levin and Cruyfford) he
manages to stop all of the opponent's shots, Shingo also appears and his
combinated moves with Tsubasa make Japan being able to win this match by 5-4.
During that time, the 7 players that were thrown out were training hard in
order to get new techniques, so Hyuga manages to develop one of the best shots
ever seen, the Rayju (if you are wondering, it is a thunder related beast from
japanese mythology) Shot. Due to those new techniques those players can (this
time) defeat R.J.7 and enter the national team in order to play in the Asian
Cup. They beat teams like Saudi Arabia (from whose captain, the prince Mark
Owaiaran, appears to be one of the best defenders ever), China (with a player
named Shõ that is able to counter most shots with his "Dragon Counter Shot")
and South Korea. By doing so, they get to join the World Cup (for players less
than 20 years old)... They start by playing against Mexico, whose great
goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, was able to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shoot, but despite
the difficulties they manage to beat them by 2-1. Against Uruguay, they have
another hard match, mainly because Ryoma Hino (the "Japanese Bomber", one of
R.J.7's players, who had double nationality) is also playing and his Tornado
Shot is great, finally they beat it by 6-5. Against Italy they have an easy
match since both Hernandez and Salvatore Gentile ("European Libero One") were
hurt due to Hino's Tornado Shot, and they win 4-0. On the quarters of final
they get to play against Sweden, who had great players like Larrson,
Fredericks, Brolin (a good defender who manages to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shot) and
Levin (yep, the same player who had injured Wakabayashi), but due to the
appearence of the impressive defender Akai Tomeiya (replacing Matsuyama, his
mate Fujisawa was in the hospital), who stops every of Levin's Levin Shot
(yeah, he has a technique with his name ^_^ ) they win 1-0. In the Half Finals
they get to play against Holland, their captain Brian Cruyfford (the other
player that injured Wakabayashi) was playing but UNFORTUNATELY we don't get to
see the match, for some "not interesting" reason, we only know that they won
1-0. Finally, they get to the World Cup's finals and they will be playing
against....... Brazil, whose coach is Roberto Hongo (Tsubasa's old coach at
Japan and Brazil), who says that Tsubasa wouldn't be able to win this time.
After a first half time in which Brazil was surely better than Japan, Santana
is able to score a goal to Wakabayashi. Japan counter with a great Twin
Overhead Shot by Tsubasa and Misaki's Golden Combination and even score another
goal with Seiki Rayju Shot (in which Rayju is used as a pass and Tsubasa and
Misaki shoot with a Twin Shot). When the match was almost over, Roberto uses
his secret player named Naturezza, who is even able to score a goal to
Wakabayashi FROM OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA (!), making a tie. On the extra time the
hard match continues, but at the end Tsubasa finishes by surpassing the great
player Naturezza and scores a goal, making Japan win the World Cup (for player
that have less than 20 years old). We also get to know that Sanae and Tsubasa
get married and this last one goes to play for Barcelona, a spanish team, and
all the other players join other teams, mainly those of J-League, but some
(like Hyuga, who will play for Juventus) continue to play in their teams, like
Akai Tomeiya... And that's how those chapters of the manga finish.

All the data in this section was taken from the amazing book "Captain Tsubasa
3109 days perfect data", by Yoichi Takahashi. I didn't just made it up or
something like that, all this was translated directly from the book, hope you
like it! ;) I'll only be referring the data that is given, so don't think I'll
cover EVERY player... The data is formatted like this:

which i WON'T SURELY ADD).
Ozora Tsubasa
Country: Japan

Teams: Nankatsu, San Paulo, Barcelona
All the data in this section was taken from the amazing book "Captain Tsubasa

cover the data from that book, so I may not talk about every team or every
player... Also, my translation may not be very good, sorry about that, my kanji
skills are not very good... The data is formatted like this:
Team: Name of the team
Tatic: The main tactic of that team
Attack: The teams' attack, from 1 to 5

12. book
If you have the ball the keys are left to pass, up to dribble, right to
shoot at goal and down to make a combination (you’ll pass the ball to a
player and he will pass back). If you don’t have the ball, left will be
to try to intercept the ball, up will tackle the opposite player, right
will block the opponent player (careful, you may get foul; however, you
will never get cards... :-) ) and down won’t do anything (only useful
if your character is out of "energy"). You just need to press which
side you want to select and then press the "A" key to select it. If you
are inside the goal area, up will make your player get the ball, down will
have him make a "simulation", left will pass the ball and by pressing
right you will be able to shoot at the opponent goals. Please understand
the the specials you can use will be different if the ball is passed up
the sky or low in the ground but by now there isn't a 100% sure way of
knowing in this game how to pass the ball Up or low. If your character has
any special abilities (for example Tsubasa's Drive Shot, Hyuga's Force
Dribble, Ishizaki's Face Block), they will appear after selecting your
action. Concerning the GK's, Wakashimazu (the karate keeper) is a special
one, since pressing up or down will make him use his Sankakugeri, left
will make him punch the ball away and right will make him try to catch the
ball. As for other keepers, up or down will punch the ball away and left
or right will make him try to catch the ball. If they have any special
catches, they will appear in a list after your selection, as for the
players.
2.~ Walkthrough
San Paulo FC vs Corinthians
As soon as the game begin pass the ball to Tsubasa (he will be no.10, as
usual) and use his Drive shot (the 2nd shot, for those who don't know
any japanese at all) for a goal. This is a really easy match, for an
easier win each time Tsubasa gets the ball use his Drive shot, it will
always be a sure goal by now. The opponent no.10 has a good shot but
your GK is able to punch it away.
Champs Elysees vs Monmartur?
In this match you must be careful with Schester (he is no.10), a german
player that plays in the opposite team, he has a very strong yet normal
shot. Since you have Misaki (no.10) and Napoleon (no.9)on your team,
spare them for the final shot. Misaki may use his Jumping Shot (like the
name says, he can only use it in a... JUMP!) and Napoleon should use his
Cannon Shot nearby the goal area. If you don't use any of these players
to get to the goal area, everything will go fine, since if you use them
they will start trying combinations and Schester will intercept it.
Mexico City vs Monterey?
This time, Hyuga (no.9) and Wakashimazu (your GK) will be fighting a
team with another player from the german team called Capelloman (no.7).
His special shot is good and he will score when he first uses it, so
then be careful and use Hyuga to score using his NeoTiger Shot
(well, his 3rd shot) for a sure goal, if you shoot inside the goal area.
Since it costs too much, maybe you should use Hyuga's normal shots
inside the area, too! You may have to loose and replay Misaki's match to
level up and have an easier match.
San Paulo FC vs Gremio
Huh, their GK is realllllllly good and their no.9 has a special dribble!
Although, they pose much of a trouble, since not even Tsubasa will be
able to score, even with the Cyclone Shot. To score, well... try using
Tsubasa's special dribble (Heel Lift) with Gremio's GK, if you are lucky
enough he won't catch the ball and you will score. Tsubasa will auto-use
his Cyclone Shot, which may score. If you lose don't be angry, you won't
have to play the Hyuga match again.
Yorkshire vs Manchester United
Easy match! Yeah, they have Kartz (no.8) from the german team, who has
an incredible dribble, but you have Hikaru Matsuyama, one of the best
japanese players, who can even score from the middle of the field using
his Eagle Shot.
Hamburgo SV vs Bayern Munich
Well, the best japanese GK against the top european striker... Well,
Wakabayashi (your GK) is a great player, able to stop almost every shot
from outside the penalty area, but Schneider's Fire Shot is "hot" (LOL).
When Schneider first uses it, Wakabayashi will auto-stop it, but from
there on you must really take care, since a fire shot is able to pass
even your Gk... well, you don't have any special shots, so just strike
as much as you can and you will win.
San Paulo FC vs Flamengo
Well, Ozora Tsubasa vs Carlos Santana, one of the best brazilian players
(well, they say Artur Coimbra is better)... Pretty much hard, since both
teams don't have good players except for these two. Tsubasa is as good
as Santana, so for you to win I believe you must: "Play as a team"! Use
every player to defend and Tsubasa to launch quick counterattacks,
helped by the rest of the team. If you do as I tell you and you use the
techniques you learned up to now, you will get a win. If required, use
Tsubasa's Drive Overhead shot, the third from the list which has 4
possible selections. With luck you can win over level 20, but it will be
HARD and will require a lot of luck.
Japan vs Holland
Easy easy easy! Now you finally have the japanese national team, with
almost all those players you saw up to now, so use them! I put Misugi
(whose Overhead Shot is amazing) into play just for the fun, but you can
score with Nitta (no.9 by now), Matsuyama (no.10?, by now) or even with
the Tachibana brothers "interesting" techniques. As for defending, you
can depend on Jito (no.3) and Soda's (no.2) special tackles or on the
Tachibana brothers (no.8 and no.7) defensive techniques. One of the
opponent players (no.11) has a good dribble and a Overhead Shot, but
they are so weak that not even he can help...
Japan vs France
France doesn't have their 2 main players, Napoleon and Pierre, playing,
but you must still be careful. You will get Misaki during the match, may
be put into play (on the next matches he will be initially in play), for
those who don't know japanese at all he is last player from the
substitutions list. Matsuyama can still score from the mid of the field
with his Eagle Shot, so USE IT! Just don't let the french getting near
your GK (Morisaki, by the way) because they will score... be very
careful with the player that has a special shot!
Japan vs USA
As you may have noticed, you get Hyuga (no.9) and Wakashimazu (GK) in
this match, Misaki will be no.10 by now. It will be easier, mainly
because the opponent team just has a good player, Mihael (no.11), whose
Rose Dribble is very good. Don't care about him, play as a team and he
won't be able to win just by himself. If you get any corner kick, from
now on use Soda (for those who don't know japanese, his name starts with
something that looks like a "Z") to score because he has a good shot and
an excellent special pass.
Japan vs Uruguay
Tsubasa is back! He will be no.10, Misaki will be no.8 from now on. If
you are at a low level this will be hard, be careful with Victorino
(no.11), he has a special shot but I think Wakashimazu is enough for
him. Tsubasa and Misaki's Twin Overhead Shot work really good in every
match, so you may need it.
Japan vs Belgium
HUH!!!!!!!! THIS IS HARD!!! Their GK is GOOD, I believe only Misaki,
Hyuga and Tsubasa can score, you should use Tsubasa's Heel Lift on this
GK or try to use Hyuga's NeoTiger Shot right in front of the keeper, he
will be (almost surely) blown away. The rest of the team worts nothing,
so just think on scoring.
Japan vs Korea
Easy, their no.9 has a special dribble and a Twin Shot but I think
Wakashimazu's sankakugeri is enough for it. You can score with most of
the techniques I told you up to now, but be careful since you won't have
Hyuga on the team, instead you will have Sorimachi (he will be no.11),
who doesn't have any specials. Nitta will play as no.9.
Japan vs China
Lee-bankun (no.9) and Lee-hanne (no.11) have a weird combined headshot,
plus their GK is good at kicking most your shots away. To win, try using
the combinations between Misaki and Tsubasa, the ones from the Tachibana
brothers and, if really required, that trick with Tsubasa's Heel Lift,
since that takes some interest from the game. Ho, and you may trade
Sorimachi for Misugi, since he may be of great help to you.
Japan vs England
Easy match, not even their no.9, who has a special shot, will be able to
score a goal to your newly-acquired Genzo Wakabayashi, the best japanese
GK. Don't even bother about the english captain Robson (no.4), since he
is just a defensive player. To score you can use whatever you want, but
Tsubasa's Cyclone Shot is going to be a sure goal.
Japan vs USA
Well, this time Mihael happens to have a new Rose Shot, will cause you a
lot of trouble; it can even injure Wakabayashi...If it does, better
level up before proceeding! As in the last time, just ignore him and use
the entire team to attack, Mihael won't be able to win just by himself
and... Ishizaki will learn his Banana Shot in this match! Hey, don't put
Misugi into play because the americans are very aggressive and he could
get injured, if you know the manga/anime you also know how weak this
player is.
Japan vs Italy
If you have seen the manga/anime, you already know that this team's GK
is the best of Europe (well, they didn't think on Muller...), so you
have to be careful, since Tsubasa will faint at half time but Hyuga will
be back to help you with his new Lightning Tiger Shot, his best shot in
this game. Since the opponent team don't have any other valuable
players, just attack as much as you can and you will surely score at
least once, using Hyuga's new shot.
Japan vs Argentina
This would be Diaz vs Tsubasa if the last one was fit to play... Be
careful since Diaz is even better than Tsubasa in the middle of the
field but he can still score. You just need to be REALLY careful with
Diaz (no.10) and somehow with Pascual (no.9), since they are this team's
main stars and best players. For scoring, I believe Hyuga and Misaki are
enough for now, but expect an hard match, maybe having to loose at least
once.
Japan vs France
Well, France again, but this time they will have Pierre (no.10) and
Napoleon (no.9) playing, so they will be a lot harder. For an easy goal,
pass the ball to Tsubasa (yeah, he's back!) as soon as you can and use
his new 3rd shot (NeoCyclone?), based on Diaz' Zenten, 1-0! :-) Now, use
all your team to block (or stop) the two folks and use a rapid
counterattack with Hyuga, Tsubasa, Misaki or even the Tachibana brothers
(if you are at a high level). Be careful because Pierre has a Slider
Shot which Wakabayashi may stop, Napoleon can use the Cannon Shot, but
they together can use a... Cannon Slider Shot (well, looks like a Twin
Shot!), which Wakabayashi may not be able to stop.
Japan vs Brazil
Yikes... well... you know... this will be really hard! They have Santana
(no.9), Coimbra (no.10), Nei, Toninho, Zagalo, Santamaria, Dirceu and
Gertize (GK) against your regular team. Coimbra and Santana are top
strikers who may (and will) put you into trouble. If you manage getting
to their goal, you'll find Gertize, whose special catch is the best in
this game. So, how will you win? All your team should defend except for
Hyuga and Tsubasa, who must center all there "energy" at shooting.
Tsubasa may use his NeoCyclone right in front of the GK, the same for
Hyuga's Lightning Tiger Shot, this will almost surely win.
Japan vs Germany
Congratulations, you are on the final match! You'll be fighting a team
constituted essentially by Schneider, Capelloman, Magath, Kartz,
Schester and Muller (GK). They will put you into trouble, specially
Schneider (the "Kaiser"), whose new Neo Fire Shot is almost impossible
to stop, even to your S.G.G.K. Genzo Wakabayashi, so just try to prevent
him from ever getting the ball... I know this is very hard, so just try to
block him using right (and select using A) and your GK should try to
punch the ball away. Kartz special dribble is hard to stop, but he won't
be much of a challenge when facing your GK. Well, as for scoring, I have
a theory... in the manga it was difficult for him to stop low shots, so
try using shots near to the floor, like Matsuyama's Eagle Shot in a
corner kick, Hyuga's Lightning Tiger Shot right in front of Muller, you
can also use Tsubasa's NeoCyclone in front of the keeper or even
Misaki's Twin Overhead Shot, one of the best in the game, which may
score sometimes. Be prepared to loose sometimes, but when you finally
win you'll see a somehow "funny" ending, since most players will appear
as a part of the cast.

players like Schneider and Hyuga send to your poor goalkeeper? There is a
way to do it... Of course you can just use Isizaki's Face Block, but don't
you think that technique is too much obvious for an human player not to
think in it and prevent it? So, you can use Jitou's and Robson's "Power
Block", it is able to stop ANY shot (even Schneider's NeoFire Shot), and
Misaki's Moonslider Passcuter is also able to do so, but ONLY SOMETIMES!
Use these techniques wisely! ;)
6.~ Questions
Question: What does Schneider say when he first uses his NeoFire Shot?
Answer: He remembers his mates who lost against japanese players in the
field and then he uses that shot, in order to make Germany win the title.
Question: Is there any way to play with the goalkeeper from Belgium?
Answer: NO!
Question: Who are the best players in this game, for picking in the Vs.
Mode?
Answer: In my oppinion the best one is Ozora Tsubasa (of course!) since he
is really good in almost every place you put him. Muller, Misugi, Coimbra,
Robson and Santana are also good, but I would pick Tsubasa in first place
and then Muller, to have the best GK and also the best field player!
