ishojo Senshi Sailor Moon Super S: Fuwa Fuwa Panic is a cute and addictive
puzzle game featuring characters from the anime series Bishojo Senshi Sailor
Moon. The object of this game is to defeat your opponent by popping balloons
and using your Sailor Senshi's special attack. This guide will cover the
basics of gameplay and include a basic strategy for each character.

*THE PLAYING FIELD*
*******************
The screen is split up into two playing fields. When a two-player game
begins, Player One will be on the left half of the screen while Player Two
(either a computer opponent or another human) will be on the right.
=====The Balloon Counter
At the top of the screen for each player is the balloon counter indicating
the number of balloons popped by that player. The ceiling of your balloon pit
will fall one row for every forty balloons that your opponent pops, pushing
your balloons closer to you and giving you an even smaller balloon pit to work
with. Since there are eight rows total in the pit, the ceiling can be lowered
in this way only seven times. It's a good idea to keep an eye on
your opponent's balloon counter and know when it is approaching a multiple of
forty.
=====The Item Box
If you get an item by destroying a special pattern of balloons or through
Sailor Pluto's special attack, it is displayed here while in use.
=====The Heart Box
When a player wins a match, a balloon will appear and turn into a heart in the
blank area on top of the screen. The player wins the game when he/she receives
two balloons in that space (in other words, when 2 out of a possible 3 matches
have been won).
=====The Gray Balloon Box
At the bottom left corner of the screen (the bottom right for Player Two) is a
small box. When your opponent sends you gray balloons, a gray balloon will
appear in this box. The size of this gray ballon indicates how many gray
balloons are coming in the next balloon wave (i.e., a small gray balloon means
a small amount of balloons, whereas a larger balloon means a larger amount of
balloons.) With practice, you will be able to judge for yourself how about
many gray balloons are coming based on the size of the gray balloon in the box.
=====The Time Meter
In the middle of the screen between the two playing fields is the time meter
which indicates how much time there is until the next wave of balloons floats
up from the bottom of the screen. When the meter is depleted, the next wave
of balloons will arrive. You can also advance the balloons manually by
pressing up (this will deplete the meter). Usually, the next wave of balloons
will be colored balloons, but if there is a gray balloon in your bottom corner
box, then waves of gray balloons will float up until all of them have floated
into your pit, and then the one wave of colored balloons will arrive.
Player One's meter is on the left and is pink, while Player Two's is
on the left and is blue.
=====The Energy Gauge
On the opposite side of the playing field from the time meter is the energy
gauge (the far left of the screen for Player One, but the far right for Player
Two). This gauge displays the amount of energy currently available to your
Senshi for transforming, calling Tuxedo Kamen, or using a special attack.
(More information about these aspects of the energy gauge can be found in the
GAMEPLAY section of this document.)
The energy gauge increases once every other time a shot destroys a balloon.
(For example, it will increase once if you pop two balloons with two different
shots, but if you pop several balloons at once, you will need to destroy at
least one more ballon before the gauge increases.) The energy gauge decreases
by one for each gray balloon that you pop, even if you pop them all at once.
The energy level will decrease to zero if you pick up the detransformation item
(more information about this item can be found in the ITEMS section of this
document).
You begin each match with an energy gauge set to five. The bottom five levels
of the gauge will always be pink. Any additional energy you store in the gauge
above the first five pink levels will be yellow. When the energy gauge is
completely filled (that's fifteen levels total) the top ten will become blue.
=====Sailor Senshi and The Balloon Pit
The selected characters appear at the bottom of the screen. Their expressions
will change throughout the game as various events occur. Using the left and
right arrow buttons, you can make them walk around in their little space under
the balloon pit. From their positions, the characters can pop the balloons in
the pit above them with their attacks. The balloon pit includes eight rows of
shaded space, so you can tell where it ends by noting the line between the
shaded area and the non-shaded area. It's important to notice the bottom
boundary ofthe pit because if your pit overflows with balloons, the game will end.

*GAMEPLAY*
**********
In versus and story mode, you will win if your opponent allows his or her
balloons to overflow outside of the balloon pit. During gameplay, you can
prevent your own balloon pit from overflowing by using your shots and
special attacks, and calling Tuxedo Kamen.
=====Controls
left/right: move character left/right
A: normal shot
B (when energy gauge is yellow): call Tuxedo Kamen
B (when energy gauge is full): special attack
up: manually advance balloons
=====Normal Shots
When you press A, your Senshi will fire a shot directly above her. This attack
destroys a colored balloon it comes into contact with and any other balloons of
the same color grouped with it, but is ineffective against gray balloons. You
can destroy a gray balloon by popping a chain of colored ones next to it and
with certain special shots, but you will still lose energy for doing so.
=====Calling Tuxedo Kamen
With a press of the B button, Tuxedo Kamen will arrive and destroy the the top
row of six ballons on your playing field. You don't get points for balloons
that he pops, but he can be a big help in getting rid of gray balloons because
you aren't penalized for gray balloons he pops. Enlisting his aid will cost
five energy.
=====Special Attacks
If your energy gauge is full when you press B, you won't call Tuxedo Kamen.
Instead, your Senshi will perform her individual special attack. These will be
covered in detail in the SPECIAL ATTACK STRATEGIES section.
=====Detransformed Senshi
Controls for a detransformed Senshi are the same as for a transformed one, but
since a detransformed Senshi has less than five energy, she won't be able to
call Tuxedo Kamen or perform a special attack. Additionally, a detransformed
Senshi can't walk as fast as a transformed one, and her shot can only destroy
one balloon at a time, even if a bunch of same-colored balloons are grouped
together. Consequently, a detransformed Senshi will not be able to pop gray
balloons or receive items for popping a pattern of balloons. When your energy
level reaches five, your Senshi will automatically transform.

When you pop a particular pattern of balloons or Sailor Pluto performs her
special attack, an item will fall. The item you get depends on the pattern of
balloons that you popped. Depending on what the item is, you may want to
manuever your Senshi to catch or avoid it. The items and the patterns that
produce them are displayed on the pause screen, and I will list them here:
=====Horizontal Shot
OOO Destroys an entire row of balloons. It won't set off any chains.
=====Vertical Shot
O Destroys an entire column of balloons. It won't set off any chains.

O Makes your next two waves of balloons be the same color.

result of Sailor Pluto's special attack. Drains your energy gauge completely.

*SPECIAL ATTACK STRATEGIES*
***************************
Each Senshi has a special attack that allows her to affect the playing field in
a significant way. Here are some suggestions for maximizing the effectiveness
of those special attacks:
=====Sailor Moon
Moon Gorgeous Meditation not only deflates your opponent's balloons but
also pops all of your deflated ones! Try popping only your inflated balloons,
filling your pit with plenty of ammo for this attack.
=====Sailor Chibi Moon
Twinkle Yell removes eight of your gray balloons and turns the bottom balloon
in each of your opponent's columns gray. It can be used defensively to clear
your screen or to seal off your opponent's balloons.
=====Sailor Mars
Mars Flame Sniper pops four of your balloons and randomly turns eight of the
opponent's balloons gray. Like Twinkle Yell, it can be used to mess up your
opponent's chains, but it can also be used to pop colored balloons buried
beneath gray ones.
=====Sailor Mercury
Mercury Aqua Rhapsody turns eight of your gray balloons blue. While it may
appear to be a defensive tactic, it's actually a great way to set up an
offensive chain. Try popping only non-blue balloons to charge up your energy
gauge, then use this attack to change any gray balloons you've received blue.
Voila, instant chain of blue balloons!
=====Sailor Jupiter
Jupiter Oak Evolution is strange in that it pops your opponent's balloons as
well as some of yours. However, you can use it to steal any chains your
opponent tries to set up, and you still get credit for them just as if they had
been yours!
=====Sailor Venus
Venus Beauty Shock makes each of your bottom four rows a different color, so
the bottom row will be one color, the next bottom one another, and so on. It's
extremely effective defensively for removing gray balloons, but popping the
four chains it creates won't send many to your opponent.
=====Sailor Uranus
World Shaking removes your entire top row, then adds a row of gray balloons to
your opponent's screen. Generally, it doesn't give you much of an advantage,
but it can be used to force your opponent to lose instantly--use it when your
opponent's balloon pit is about to overflow.
=====Sailor Neptune
Deep Submerge trades your screen with your opponent's. The CPU Neptune likes
to use it to give her opponents chains, then to send back the gray balloons
produced by popping the chains! It can also be used like Jupiter Oak
Evolution to steal an opponent's chains.
=====Sailor Pluto
Dead Scream drops an item on each Senshi. The item Pluto receives is random,
but her opponent will always get Detransformation. It will always hinder the
opponent, but the best time to use it is after sending a wave of gray balloons;
the Detransformed Senshi will be unable to pop chains or even call Tuxedo Kamen
to defend herself.
