1.Abstract

CHAOS SEED is very difficult tp play for even Jananese, but a great game in the Sega Saturn game.
Readers' Score of JPSS Magazine is 9.4424 and No.15 out of 945 games!
Current price in Akihabara is about 7,000 - 8,000 yen.
It's released for only SFC and SS (not for PSX), and SS version is greatly improved.
The purpose of this game is reviving the "Gaia (the Earth)" which had lost its power.
The genre is ACT (like SFC Zelda) + RPG(parallel mini scenarios suggest a big story)
+ PUZ (based on "Fuh-Sui" ("Feng Shui" in Chinese) which is old Chinese learning).

2. Basic Theory  -Five Attributes-

2.1 The interaction of the "Room"s (5 gods)

The player makes rooms in the dungeons and connect them with paths.
When player made a room, player must select the role and the god of the room.
There are 5 kinds of gods, "Fire","Water","Wood","earth" and "Gold".
Each room is influenced by the connection with other rooms.

Room1(Fire)-Room2(Wood)-room3(Earth)

In the Room2, a god of "Wood" is living, so it has 1 "Wood" power.
And "Fire" power flows from the Room1 and "Earth" power flows from the Room3.
So Room2 has 1 "Wood" power, 1 "Fire" power and 1 "Earth" power.

And there is a theory of "the flow of the power".
"Water"->"Wood","Wood"->"Fire","Fire"->"Earth","Earth"->"Gold" and "Gold"->"Water"
is the good flow, so flows increase double(X2).

"Water"->"Fire","Fire"->"Gold","Gold"->"Wood","Wood"->"Earth" and "Earth"->"Water"
is the bad flow, so flows decrease half(1/2).

And under decimal point will be cut (0.5->0, 1.5->1, 2.5->2...)

So,

Room1(Water)-Room2(Wood)-room3(Gold)

In the Room2, a god of "Wood" is living, so it has 1 "Wood" power.
"Water" power flows from the Room1 and the power increase double.
and "Gold" power flows from the Room3 but the power decrease half (0.5->0).
So Room2 has 1 "Wood" power, 2 "Water" power and 0 "Gold" power.

NOTICE:If player makes 2 paths between 2 rooms, the flow of the power increase double.

2.2 The influence of the Door

When make a "Path" from a room to a room, a "Door" is attached at the entrance of other room.

room1 room2 (there is no "Path" between 2 rooms)
room1-room2 (when player makes a Path from room1,)
room1-#room2(automatically a "Door" is attached at entrance of room2.)

If there is a "Door", the power increase double.

Room1(Fire)-#Room2(Wood)

In the Room2, a god of "Wood" is living, so it has 1 "Wood" power.
And "Fire" power flows from the Room1 and the "Door" makes the power increase double.
So Room2 has 1 "Wood" power, 2 "Fire" power.
But the "Door" doesn't work from room2 to room1 (one way).

NOTICE1:The "Door" isn't attached to the corner of the room.
NOTICE2:The "Door" isn't attached when the "Path" is too short.


3.Walkthrough of Scenario Mode (First Scenario)

3.1 How to Fight

Intro...Once upon a time, there lived people called "Dou-Sen".
This story is about "Do-Sen".
("Sen-nin" means people who got close to the god by hard training,
and "Dou-kutsu" means a dungeon. "Dou-Sen" means "Sen-nin" who stays
in "Dou-kutsu".)

The scene:The hero comes to an old man ("Dou-Sen") standing
in front of a waterfall. And they teleport into the dungeon.
Old man says to him to take a scroll from the "Sen-Kutu".

1)Go into the "Sen-Kutsu" by Direction key (D-Key).

2)In the 1st room, there are two ghosts called "Jah-sen".
Hero reminds how to fight;
* Normal Attack : Push B
* Hit by Scroll : Push B two times
Beat the ghost by B button and proceed next room.

3) In 2nd room, 6 ghosts appears around the hero.
Hero reminds how to fight again;
* Dash : Push C
* Smash(Dash and attack) : Push C -> B(after Dash)
* Kick : Push C -> B(just after Pushing C)
Beat the ghost by C and B button and proceed next room.

4) In 3rd room, there is a strong ghost.
Hero reminds how to fight again;
* Push A + B (push A first) : Middle Power Attack (From pushing button to attack,
the hero becomes invincible, even for a very short time.It's important.).
* High Power Attack : Push Z, or Push D -> A+B
Beat the ghost by Middle Power Attack and High Power Attack, and proceed next room.

5) In 4th room, there's a scroll and 3 animals called "Sen-Jyu".
They tell hero that he became a "Do-Sen" by the scroll, and tell about the role of "Dou-Sen".
(He teleport to a field)
The earth is vivid by the energy from "Ryu-Myaku".
And if the energy flow stops, the earth will die.
"Dou-Sen" can save the earth by making "Sen-Kutsu"(dungeon made by "Dou-Sen").
And "Sen-Jyu" helps "Do-Sen".
After the explanation, proceed next room.

6)In 5th room, there are some monsters.
"Sen-Jyu" teach hero how to use "Sen-Jyutsu"(Magic).
* Sen-Jyutsu : Push X button and select "Sen-Jyutsu"
Menu is ;
"Sen-Jyutsu"
"Item"
"Sen-Jyu"
"Help"
"Other"
So select 1st line.The menu of "Sen-Jyutsu" will be indicated.Select one of them.
After the battle, "Sen-Jyu" teaches hero the another way to use "Sen-Jyutsu".
* Sen-Jyutsu : Push Y button (continue) -> select "Sen-Jyutsu" by R or L trigger and release Y button.
They also teaches that hero can open the door by put the switch on by pushing C button.
Open the door by pushing the switch right above, and proceed next room.

7)In the 6th room, there is a switch on the floor but a rock blocks.
"Sen-Jyu" teaches Hero that he can break the rock by B button,
and can put on the switch by getting on it.
Break a rock, put on the switch and proceed next room.

8)In the 7th room, there is a fence at the center the room.
"Sen-Jyu" teaches Hero that there are transport switch in the room.
Get on the left switch (transport opposite side and open the door upside).
Get on the right switch (transport opposite side and open the door downside).
Get on the left switch and proceed next room.

9)In the 8th room, there are cube shaped monsters.
Beat them and proceed the next room.

10)In the next room, "Jyu-Sen" say farewell.
Go to exit.

Scene; Old man and Hero go down into the dungeon.
Old man teaches Hero how to make a "Room".
When old man walk to the stairs, go next to the left side of him, and Push C Button.
He teach him the important action called "Hipparu" (means "draw" in English).
Go up the stairs. He explain about "Energy" and "Dungeon Point".
* Dungeon Point : To make a "Room" or Path, "Dungeon Point" is required.
To make a "Room", "Room point" is required. To make a "Path", "Path point" is required.
At first, some "Dungeon Points" are given. There is a way to get it, but don't waste it.


3.2 How to Make "Room" and "Path"

Scene; The old man and the Hero go down into the dungeon.
The old man teaches the Hero how to make a "Room".
When the old man walks and stops at the stairs, go to the left side of him,
face the wall and Push C Button.
Then he will teach the Hero about the important action called "Hipparu"
(means "draw" in English. see below.)
Go up the stairs. The old man will explain about "Energy" and "Dungeon Point".
* Dungeon Point : "Dungeon Point" is required to make a "Room" or "Path".
* To make a "Room", "Room point" and "Energy" are required.
* To make a "Path", "Path point" and "Energy" are required.
* At first, some "Dungeon Points" are given. There is a way to get them, but don't waste them.

Then the old man commands the Hero to make a "Path".

## How to Make a Path ##
1)Face the right wall and do "Hipparu".
* Hipparu ; Face the wall, push C button (not release) and push D-key to opposite direction
(This case, "Left"), then the "Window" will be opened.
2)When a "Window" is opened, you can select "Room" or "Path".
"Path" is indicated right, and "Room" left. Select right word ("Path").
3)Specify the length of the "Path" by D-key and C Button.
4)Then the confirmation is indicated, select left word and push C button.

The "Path" will be made. Proceed next room through the "Path".
The old man explain the "Door".(read "about 5 gods")

Then they go down the stairs.
The old man will begin about the "Room".
When the "Window" is open, you can see the dots of red, yellow and green.
They are the "Factor".
* Yellow("Ki") Factor : If there are many "Yellow Factor" in the place where the Hero's gonna make a
"Se-Ssaku Room" (see Appendix1(chaos-kn1.gif) "About the Room"), the Room creats items well.
* Red("Aka") Factor : If there are many "Red Factor" in the place where the Hero's gonna make a
"Sei-San Room" (see Appendix1(chaos-kn1.gif) "About the Room"), the Room creats Energy well.
* Green("Midori") Factor : If there are many "Red Factor" in the place where the Hero's gonna make a
"Sen-Tan Room" (see Appendix1(chaos-kn1.gif) "About the Room"), the Room creats "Sen-Tan" well.

The old man ask him a question.
1)What is the color of Energy?
Select "Ki"(Yellow) = 3rd line.
2)What is the color of items?
Select "Aka"(Red) = 1st line.
3)What is the color of Green?
Select "Midori"(Green) = 2nd line.

Then they transport to a Room. Go up the stairs.
The old man will teach about "Time".
* Interval(Syu-Kei Jikan) : When the count down goes to zero, a turn ends.
* Player can change setting.(see below)

Then the old man commands the Hero to make a "Room".

## How to Make a Room ##
1)Face the any wall and do "Hipparu".
* Hipparu ; Face the wall, push C button (not release) and push D-key
to opposite direction, then the "Window" will be opened.
2)When a "Window" is opened, you can select "Room" or "Path".
"Room" is indicated right, and "Room" left. Select left word ("Room").
3)Specify the size of the room by D-Key, and push C.
* Required Room point and Energy are indicated in the window (at the top).
* If the size is too big, dungeon point lacks and error message is indicated.
4)Specify the place of the "Room"by D-Key, and push C.
* The mark of the god is indicated center of the window, which is change as the place.
* About the mark, see the manual.
* The Factor in the place of the "Room" influences the ability of the "Room".
(Ordinary, player must select the kind of the "room", but this time, can't.)
5)Then the "Room" is created. Go into the "Room", break the rocks by B button
and beat the monsters(see 3.1).
6)A god is coming to the center of the "Room". Talk to him.

Then the old man explain about the 5 gods (see 2.1).


3.3 About the "Room" (also see chaos-kin.gif)

They transport to next "Sen-Kutsu", where the Ryu-Ketsu-Ro is.
The old man talk about how to flow Energy into the earth from Ryu-Ketsu-Ro.
Push C button. Then the window is opened.
Increace the quantity of Energy to 200 by D-key, and push C.
Then the old man will explain about how to improve the "Room".

Go up the stairs. There is a "Sei-San Room".
The old man explains about "Sei-San Room".
* "Sei-San Room" : This Room creats "Energy" twice than other "Room".
If there are 4 yellow "Factor" in the "Room", the "Room" creates 60 "Energy" per turn,
but the "Sei-San Room" creats 120 "Energy" per turn.

And the old man teaches Hero how to draw the Energy.
Face the block of the center of the "Room" and do "Hipparu".
The Energy (like a jewel) appears. Take it quickly and go next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Sen-Jyu Room", where Hero calls "Sen-Jyu".
(see Apendix2 (chaos-kn2.gif) "About the Sen-Jyu")
And the old man teaches Hero how to call the "Sen-Jyu".
Face the block of the center of the "Room" and do "Hipparu".
The window is opened but you can't call "Sen-Jyu" yet.
Close the window and go to next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Ren-Tan Room".
* "Sen-Tan Room" : This Room creats "Sen-Tan" 4 times as much than other "Room".
If there are 2 Green "Factor" in the "Room", the "Room" creates 4 "Sen-Tan" per turn,
but the "Sen-Tan Room" creats 16 "Sen-Tan" per turn.

And the old man teaches Hero how to draw the Energy.
Face the block of the center of the "Room" and do "Hipparu".
The "Sen-Tan" (like a ball) appears. Take it quickly and go next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Sou-Ko Room", where Hero can store items.
This place Hero can't open window yet. Go to next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Saku-Teki Room", where Hero can find the enemies.
The old man teaches Hero how to find enemies.
The window is opened but you can't find enemies yet.
Close the window and go to next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Kou-Geki Room", which automatically attack enemies.
The old man teaches Hero how to activate the weapon.
Face the block of the center of the "Room" and do "Hipparu".
The weapon (fire ball) appears. Go to next "Room".

Next "Room" is "Ten-Sou Room", where Hero can transport to other "Room".
This place Hero can't open window yet. Go to next "Room".

They go back to the "Room" where the "Ryu-Ketsu-Ro" is.
Then the old man will explain about "Sen-Jyu".
He calls 3 "Sen-Jyu". From left side,
Kusshi-Sen(Mouse) : The animal which is good at distributing the Energy to each Room.
Youryu-Sen(Dragon): The animal which is good at distributing Sen-Tan.
Kayoku-Sen (Bird) : The animal which can repair the broken Room.

Then The old man begin to explain about the distribution of "Energy".
At first, every "Room" doesn't need to accept the "Energy",
because every room creats a little "Energy" by itsself.
But, when Hero improved every "Room", it requires more "Energy",
so Hero must let the "Sen-Jyu" distribute "Energy" to the "Room".


3.4 Making the "Sei-San Room"

They transport to next place, where the Ryu-Ketsu-Ro is.
The Earth of this place is almost dead, so the old man command the Hero to rivive it.
What the Hero to do is;
1) Make a "Sei-San Room".
2) Store the Energy up to 1000.
3) Flow Energy into the earth from Ryu-Ketsu-Ro.

At first, the old man gives Hero 700 Energy.
Up the stairs, face at any wall and do "Hipparu".
Count the number of yellow dots in the place, where you make the "Room".
NOTICE; Don't make a Room of "Earth", because it doesn't become "Sei-San Room"
(see Apendix1 (chaos-kn1.gif) "About the relation between god and the Room").
Make a Room, go into the Room, break the rocks and talk to the god.
The window will be opened, so select "Sei-San Room" (up-left word).

Turn by turn, you can draw the Energy at the center of the Room by "Hipparu".
By L+A button, you can proceed time quickly.
This time, enemies don't come, so proceed time.
When a turn ended, the menu will appear.(see Appendix2 "About the Menu of the Syu-Kei Time")
You can save by selecting "Save".
By Selecting "Syu-Ryo", go to next turn, face the conter of the Room and do "Hipparu" to get Energy.
In the some turns, you can store the Energy over 1000,
go to the "Ryu-Ketsu-Ro" and flow Energy.
The Earth will rivive!


3.4 Riving th broken "Room" by "Sen-Jyu"

They transport to next place, where the Earth is almost dead.
There is a "Sen-Kutsu", but it's broken by people who hates "Dou-Sen".
The old man command the Hero to repair the "Sen-Kutsu" and rivive the Earth.
What the Hero to do is;

1) Call the "Kayoku-Sen"(bird).
2) Let him go through the broken "Sei-San Room".
3) Improve the "Sei-San Room".
4) Store the Energy up to 1000.
5) Flow Energy into the earth from Ryu-Ketsu-Ro.

## Call the "Kayoku-Sen"(bird) ##
At first, go to the "Ren-Tan Room", which is active, and drow the "Sen-Tan" by "Hipparu".
Because it requires Sen-Tan to call "Sen-Jyu".
Next, goto the "Syou-Kan Room", and call "Kayoku-Sen"(bird) by "Hipparu".
1)Select "Kayoku-Sen"(birds).
2)Select Level.(you can select only "Level 1", now).
3)Select Group. If you select "1", you put him in Hero's Group.
 If you select "2", you make a new group and put him in it. Select "2".
4)Enter the name.

## Let him go through the broken "Sei-San Room" ##
Push L+A button and let the turn ends.
Select "Mikata-Kougun-Route" of the menu .
(see Appendix2 "About the Menu of the Syu-Kei Time").
1)Select the gourp (group 2).
2)Set the route.(From broken"Sei-San Room" to broken "Saku-Teki Room").
 C:Set
 B:Cancel
 Z:End (OK)
 X:Reset
If setting is ended, the "Sen-Jyu" walks the route. Confirm it.
Go to next turn.

## Improve the "Sei-San Room" ##
To improve the Room, it requires "Sen-Tan" at the Room.
You must make the "Sen-Jyu" carry the "Sen-Tan" to the Room.
1)Collect "Sen-Tan" at "Ren-Tan Room", call "Youryu-Sen" at "Syou-Kan Room"
and put it in the Group3.
2)Push L+A button and let the turn ends.
3)Select "Mikata-Kougun-Route" of the menu.(see Appendix2 "About the Menu of the Syu-Kei Time")
select the gourp 3 and set the route.(From "Sen-Tan Room" to "Sei-San Room").
Go to next turn.
4)Push L+A button and let the turn ends.
5)Select "Kyouka" from the menu and select "Sei-San Room".
Maybe you can select the 1st line "Energy Sei-San LV1".

## Store the Energy up to 1000 ##
When the Room is prepaired, Hero can draw the Energy at "Sei-San Room".
And some turn after, "Sen-Jyu" carried the "Ren-Tan" to the "Sei-San Room",
you can bring up the "Sei-San Room" to next level.
When Enrgy is stored over 1000, flow it into the Ryu-Ketsu-Ro.

The First Scenario is ended.
