AND DREAMCAST VERSION OF THE KING OF FIGHTERS 98 (DREAMCAST TITLE
: KOF DREAM MATCH 1999)

Introduction :
My name is Leen, Kelvin. Welcome to my latest addition to my
FAQs. You might have read other FAQs written by me, this is my
latest work of art.
This FAQ is written for the sake of new Billy Kane users or anybody
who isn't aiming sky-high for combos. I am a fan of this guy since
he was useable in Fatal Fury Special. I feel that he was great as a
boss character and also great to use as a playable character.
Just in case you need to know if you can trust this FAQ, I wrote for
Final Fantasy 7 and Resident Evil 2 FAQ and got much praises for them.
However, this is my 1st acutal fighthing game FAQ, but I will like in
the previous 2 FAQs go into details about things. So bear with me
and trust me on the FAQ !

Billy Kane is no doubt a villian, but he wasn't supposed to be one.
He has Geese Howards to thank his life for, as Geese gave him a
position as a bodyguard, and right hand man.
Read on for a brief summary on him, if not skip the section and
scroll down for the moves sheet and tatics section.
GAME APPERANCES :-
FATAL FURY ~ King of fighters (Second Last boss fighter in the game)
LOCATION : SOUTH TOWN BRIDGE
Billy's first cameo in the fighting world was this game. He is
suppose to be the last fighter you meet in the finals, but
you (playing as Terry, Andy or Joe) will be kidnapped after
this match's victory.
Billy Kane loses his cane in the matches as he has a move that
throws the cane at the player. He later becomes invincible until
somebody from the background throws him a cane replacing his old one.
During the inviciblity, he kneels down and cry in fear, a good
trick to lure players over to hit him.
FATAL FURY 2 (First sub-boss you meet after defeating all the world fighters)
LOCATION : LONDON, BIG BEN CLOCK TOWER, SINGLE LINE DEATHMATCH
Billy Kane is a strong fighter, after Geese's defeat, he still stood out as
one of the best fighters of all time. In Fatal Fury 2, Wolfgang Krauser
was the new host of the KOF Tournament, and he had new powerful bosses to fight
the new challenges. Billy Kane was the 1st of such bosses you'll meet.
FATAL FURY SPECIAL (Same as FATAL FURY 2)
LOCATION : (SAME STAGE AS FATAL FURY 2)
The most extra thing about Billy Kane here is that he had disrespect for Geese
when you face him. Use Geese Howards to get to him, and Billy Kane will say he
wants to kick Geese's butt.
KING OF FIGHTERS 1995 (Team mate of Iori Yagami, Eiji)
LOCATION : A DUMP SITE
This is the most famous storyline that Billy got involved in. He was sent to
look after and investigate the Oroochi power that Iori and Rugal B possessed.
After the battle, Iori attacked the 2 team mates, wounding them heavily. From
that day on, Billy had bore a deep hate for Iori, wanting revenge for the
attack.
On a side note, as a fan of Billy Kane, I hate Yagami too.
FATAL FURY 3 (Cameo apperance with Geese Howards)
If you used Terry and some other main Fatal Fury lead roles (I think that's how
you'll get to see him.), during the opening of Geese's stage, Billy will appear
and shout "HEY HEY HEY !!" and disappear. Geese smiles and prepares to fight.
KING OF FIGHTERS 1996 (Cameo apperance in the Boss Team stage)
Nothing to note except that at the Boss team stage, you will see Billy with
Geese's 2 other guards, standing in the background.
REAL BOUT FATAL FURY (Playable character and also final section boss)
LOCATION : STREETS OF SOUTH TOWN
Geese Howards aquired a Scroll that grants him plenty of power and it's
time for the Bogards to take him down in a new survival tournament. Billy
awaits gamers as a boss once again, beat him to fight Geese. He's quite fast
and deadly, so beware of him. He has the RED LOTUS REQIUM, an uppercut super
attack.
KING OF FIGHTERS 1997 (Teamed up with Yamazaki and Blue-Mary)
After 2 cameos, he's back ! Billy is once again sent by Geese to investigate
the Oroochi power and he has to team up with the insane Oroochi Yamazaki,
and the bone crushing Blue Mary. An odd and unlikely team, beat the game for
a good ending, especially for Yamazaki or sadistic fans !
REAL BOUT FATAL FURY SPECIAL (Playable character and sub-boss)
LOCATION : A MUSIC STUDIO
In this special game, Billy Kane is a sub-boss you must face. He awaits anybody
during the 3rd match, and without proper combos, it's tough to beat him. There
is an additional version of him, that fights like the Real Bout version, which
is more defensive and somewhat deadly too. He gets a stupid super attack,
GRAND CANE SMASH.
REAL BOUT FATAL FURY SPECIAL DOMINATED MIND - PLAYSTATION EDITION OF
RBFF SPECIAL (Playable character and sub-boss)
LOCATION : A MUSIC STUDIO
In this special version of the original game, Billy Kane was captured by Mr White,
the new final boss of the game. He gets brain-washed in the opening video clip.
REAL BOUT FATAL FURY 2 (Playable character)
One of the worst Fatal Fury games ever drawn, this game sees Billy Kane getting
the best upgrade to his moves sheet ! He gains the SALAMANDER STREAM super
desperation move in this game, which is a beautiful move when connected.
KING OF FIGHTERS 1998 (Teamed up with Yamazaki and Blue Mary)
Who can say that the special team (These trio) isn't the one of the most popular
teams to be used ? Billy Kane is completely intact from the 97 game, but he
has a bonus version, which is the same as the RBFF2 version with the SALAMANDER
STREAM super attack !
FATAL FURY : WILD AMBITION (Playable character and sub-boss character)
I must say, he looks good in suit and tie. FFWA presented Billy with 2 clothes,
the typical Leather jacket, and a Suit and tie version. He's 3D and looks
stupid in many angles, but he gains a slight upgrade in one of his moves. His
Flying Cane smash, can now go forward at your opponent, great upgrade !

Well known phrase: HEY HEY HEY !
Facts about him :
-He has a special opening when challenging Iori. It's infamous, where he and
Ex-team mate Eiji both taunt Iori (That ass didn't feel threatened at all.)
and Eiji disappears. Billy then looks around for Eiji and starts to fight !
-There is a winning pose where he keeps his cane and takes off his bandana,
reveling his true face. I notice his eyeballs are white, as he says "Too
easy !" ... creepy.
-He, Ralf and Chang produce a special ending after you beat the game. Their
team is known as the "THE FAST TAPPING OF A/C BUTTON TEAM", as they have at
least one repeated tapping move !
-In KOF97, playing as him, along side Kyo and Mai will create an ending on
the Japanese version. Neo Geo Freak, the official NG magazine chose these
3 to represent them (The magazine). (The Fire Genki Team)
2 other magazines used Choi, Chang and Yamazaki (The criminal team) &
Joe, Terry and Blue Mary (Cool ending ! Check out Blue Mary - The Fatal
Fury Real Bout team).
-There are a lot of jokes about him and Geese being gay. Not to happy about
it myself.
-Bad news for him, since Fatal Fury 3, his little sister has been dating an
arch-rival of his ! Billy's only kin, Lilly dates Joe Higashi, but this rarely
mentioned in the any games, other than Fatal Fury 3's ending for Joe.

FIGHTING TATICS SECTION :
U - up, T - Towards, D - Down, Ba - Back, Dt - Down towards,
Db - Down Back,()x2 - Do motion twice
Button A - Punch (Weak) Button C - Punch (Strong)
Button B - Kick (Weak) Button D - Kick (Strong)
NORMAL Billy Kane's moves :-
Tri-Cane smash - Ba D T + A/C
Billy throws his cane out and it splits into 3 segment. It's rather
fast on the A version, which is good to keep people away and recover
fast. The C version is quite a bane since you will not make a good
recover if it does not connect. Use the A often, leave the C to really
open chances.
Tri-Cane Explosion - Upon connecting the Tri-cane smash, add D Dt T + A/C
Add this command to blow your opponent up for extra damage.
* Red Lotus Requim - T D Dt + A/C
The move used to be a super attack, but it's now just an uppercut. Billy
rises to the air and spins the cane as well. You'll seldom use this move,
as it very often leave you open if done at the WRONG time.
Typhoon Cane - Tap A repeatedly
This is a classic move that is best used when you corner you foe. The
blocking damage isn't something to gloat about, but if it hits, then
you'll enjoy the opponent's suffering !
Straight Cane Smasher - Tap C repeatedly
Sickening move to be trapped in. I piss almost everyone I play against
with this move. It's great to jump in and combo something and ending with
this move. Try it when you can !
Flying Cane smash - T D Dt + B/D
You'll fly high and smash your opponent with your weight. The B version
launches fast and hammers for lower damage. It's basically quite close
range, the D version reaches out slightly further. Can be quite preditable
so beware when using the move.
Fire Dragon Chaser - D Db Ba + B/D
This is an Anti-counter move. Unlike the Real Bout FFS and 2 game, this move
is only used as a counter, not offensive attack. This one absorbs air attacks
and Billy will whack his cane forward. It is cancelled when a projectile hits.
Water Dragon Chaser - D Db Ba + B/D
Like before, this version is a front attack counter, so use this to beat those
who are running into your face with a combo or attack ! It is cancelled once
a projectile hits Billy.
SUPER DESPERATION MOVE 1
GRAND HURRICANE FIRE CANE -- D Dt T Dt D Db Ba + A/C
The deadly version of Typhoon Cane is equipped with fire ! Burn your opponents
with this move. Best used on those fools who are leaping at you to clear the
distance between one another. Better yet, try to use this and make your opponent
roll behind you ! He/she will be stuck and burned, sometimes, dizzied. Billy Kane
will throw out the flames, and on the more powerful version, he will sent those
flames to the end of the screen.
Note : Unlike the Fatal Fury games, he can be easily knocked out of this move,
so use with caution.
SUPER DESPERATION MOVE 2
* GRAND CANE SMASH -- (D Dt T)x2 + A/C
This useless super is one that is very diffcult to connect. I find that you
might want to use the 1st super move instead of this. Only use it next to some
dizzy fool who can't block ... but then again, the 1st one's better.

SPECIAL REAL BOUT 2 Billy Kane add on moves
Note : He does not have the moves marked with the * on the above moves sheet.
RB2 BILLY KANE HAS THE SAME MOVES, WITH SOME MISSING BUT REPLACED WITH NEW
MOVES.
Upper Cane smasher - D Db Ba + A/C
Billy Kane's old uppercut attack, he strikes the cane upwards, and it is
supposed to hit away those air-brone attackers. As usual, A version recovers
fast, C version is slightly more damaging but slow recovery.
SUPER DESPERATION :-
Salamander Stream -- (D Dt T)x2 + A/C
This powerful super has a good range. He spins his cane round and round with
flames around and smashes the ground with a small blast of flame. Try to
connect this into combos, as it is very damaging. Try not to miss as he
gets quite open at the end of the move. If you can and sure that you can't
miss at all, try the more powerful version of this move to ensure plenty
of damage !

ADVANCED AND EXTRA MODES --- Which should I play ?
Fact is, most players will play as Advanced as you can easily charge up
your Green Stocks during the fight. Billy excels in advance, as his moves can
really charge up your stocks fast, but only if you are playing offensive and
not playing turtle with your opponent.
However, I play EXTRA mode ! Billy Kane is not easy to use here, but I can
assure you, that once you can power up fast, your opponent is fried chicken
once you can trap your opponent with the Grand Hurricane Fire Cane super attack !
It's basically hit and run most of the time, until you're charged up. Then you'll
go for the kill ! He's good, but you'll need a lot of pratice with this mode.
It's up to you, so chose wisely, as the mode stays with your teammates as well and
for the whole game !

How to play as Billy Kane ?
To be honest, I hate to combo. Any character ... I rather jump over and pummel
fast and with special attacks on anybody facing me. For Billy, he stands out as
a cheap character in many games, and in KOF98, his RB2 version is the cheaper
one.
You don't need combos to survive. Many time, missing attacks for Billy's case
will be dire. He needs time to re-connect his cane into one again if you
use his Tri-Cane smash. Missing and slow recovery makes him a diffcult character
to catch on.
However, good news is that playing ranged attacks is what he's good for. His
jumping C and crouching D are best assets you can have. Once the jumping C
connects, tap C again and repeat the taps for a nightmarish chain of cane whacking.
Most of the time, his crouching D will catch many people off guard, and another
cool move is to do a flip back, by pressing Back + D button, to catch opponents
jumping at you off guard.
Crouching C is also good for some people, like Kagura, if she teleports physically
near you, do the crouching C or D to make suffer.
Billy Kane however is easily defeated by amny fighters. Namely those who are
projectile users. Playing against CPU or human, once such people appear, just
get close and whack the shit out of them. Easier said than done, but you can
a speedy jump over when your opponent is firing a projectile. Trying the
jumping D as the reach is long and you'll hit your opponent fast.
For Extra users, throw out the A version of the Tri-cane smash often. Once your
opponent is down, charge up real quick fast and once you're maxed up, jump in for
the kill !
If you're a beginner, try to keep comapny with stronger fighters. Billy is known
to be an average fighter, not really good but he isn't bad as a fighter after all !
Try him and if you're good, you'll make him win victories for you really fast.
