Welcome to my Gabo's Summons FAQ for the wonderful remake of the game
PoPoLoCrois on the PSP! My main reason for writing this FAQ was due to my own
frustration in trying to find Gabo's summons. There's very little information
on this around the internet and, honestly, I didn't even have any idea the
summons existed until I stumbled across Monoceros in Roma Castle, completely
by accident!

Some of these summon battle can be on the trickier side if you're not levelled
up well enough or don't have as much experience in playing RPGs. Hopefully this
FAQ will help you defeat these monsters and allow you to develop Gabo into the
awesome character he's supposed to be!

My last note is in regards to the HP of each summon. At this stage, I am unable
to figure out how much health each summon has. If anyone has any information
regarding this, please share it with me so I can update the guide! You can find
my contact details at the top of this document! Be sure to include your
username so I can credit you properly.

Thanks, and enjoy!

If you're like me, you probably haven't used Gabo much if you don't have any of
the summons. Honestly, until he actually gets a summon, he's pretty much
useless. He has low health and low damage physical attacks. He's more of a
burden to the party than a help. Luckily, that tune completely changes once he
starts to learn his summon attacks. Sadly, you can't do obtain of them until
towards the end of the game, but they can still certainly come in handy.

Before getting these summons, keep Gabo away from enemies. Try to avoid him
getting hit at all and use him to throw in healing items whenever the rest of
the party needs them. He's actually quite useful for that.

After starting to get the summons, you'll find he's actually a lot more useful
in battle. His one exceptional stat is his MP amount and trust me, you're going
to need as much MP as you can get for using the summons as they all require a
lot. Any magic seeds you acquire that increase MP totals, give them to Gabo if
you plan on using him.

For more strategies on how to use Gabo effectively, check out the Gabo
Strategies section towards the end of this FAQ.

Summons provide all of Gabo's special skills. Without fighting any of the
following bosses, Gabo will be absolutely useless in any battle. His physical
attack is very low and he'll usually do about 10 damage at best to some of
the game's later enemies. Therefore, if you want to use the cute little dragon
in battle (or if you're just a completionist) then you'll be wanting to take
out the following bosses! In fact, even if you don't like Gabo, fight them
anyway! It's a lot of fun!

named Sitar who provides very vague and cryptic clues on the locations of all
six summons. Each clue will be provided in the section of the summon it belongs
to. If you feel like a challenge, see if you can figure it out just from the
clues! Some are very hard!

Best Party Member: Pietro/Kimendoji [High Attack Power]
Worst Party Member: Gabo [Low Health]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
He's a pretty cool looking dragon don'tcha think? Anyway, he's not really that
hard to beat. His health isn't all that high when compared to other summons
and bosses in the game. The only thing that can cause problems is his Ray
Breath attack which hurts everyone for a fair amount of health. As long as you
have at least one character focusing on healing and throw in a forest rain item
every now and then you should be able to keep yourself alive.

As with most summon battles, Gabo is a lost cause. Most of the attacks he takes
will kill him in one blow. Don't bother spending time trying to revive him
unless you really have nothing better to do with a character on a turn. Just
make sure you're belting the heck out of the dragon with Pietro and whoever
else you have in your party. Esperanze should fall pretty easily if you keep
that up.

Note: Unlike other summon boss magic attacks, this one doesn't do as much
damage if a party member has low magic defence. So don't be afraid to use White
Knight if he's your favourite.

-- GABO'S POWER --
------------------
Name: Esperanze
Description: Attacks all enemies with holy power.
MP Cost: 90
Usefulness: ****
Strategy: This deals a massive amount of damage! With Gabo at level 30 or
higher, you're looking at almost 900 damage to all enemies! The downside is
that it requires a huge amount of MP to cast. Seriously, use it anyway. It's
worth it. Just make sure you have plenty of waters on hand to restore his lost
MP.

-- EXTRA INFORMATION --

The man standing next to the paniting will ask where it has gone after you
defeat the dragon! Pietro tells him the truth and, of course, he doesn't

Worst Party Member: White Knight [Low Magic Defence]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
He's not too hard as long as Narcia has her Healing Rain levelled up enough.
White Knight can be difficult to keep alive though if his magic defence is
low. Don't worry about keeping your distance as he pretty much only uses one
attack that hits everyone in your party anyway. This allows you to put all your
party members right next to each other so they can be healed all at once and
aren't at risk of taking additional damage. Just keep three of your party
members constantly attacking and one other, I recommend Narcia, on constant
healing.

Assuming you've been levelling up properly, you shouldn't have too many issues
here. Don't be afraid to throw in a few healing items if need be, and make sure
to keep your MP topped up as you go.

-- PARTY RECOMMENDATIONS --

Best Party Member: Pietro/Kimendoji [High Damage Dealer]
Worst Party Member: White Knight [Low Magic Defence]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
The strategy here is virtually identical for Kalra. They may look different and
use different elements, but they have the same strengths and weaknesses. The
only attack Burun Babun has damages all party memebrs regardless of where they
are standing, so just group everyone together to make them easier to heal.

Keep Narcia on healing and get Pietro plus another party member to belt the
living daylights out of him. The faster he goes down, the better. If the
battle drags on for too long you may find yourself starting to get overwhelmed
by his big wave attack. Make sure you go in with plenty of heal items for
an emergency.

Unlike most other summon battles, Gabo can actually survive the big wave attack
if he's at a high enough level or used increased his health through seeds or
equipment. Assuming this isn't your first summon, a few well placed attacks
from him can seriously speed up the battle. Kalra and Esperanze are
particularly helpful here.

-- GABO'S POWER --
------------------
Name: Burun Babun
Description: Attacks all enemies three times with water.
MP Cost: 60
Usefulness: ****
Strategy: This is one of the best summon spells. It does more damage than Kalra
and actually strikes enemies three times! By around level 30, Gabo can strike
every enemy in a battle with this attack for 700+ damage. It also requires a
little less MP than other summons so make sure you put it to good use!

Best Party Member: Pietro [High Damage Dealer]
Worst Party Member: Gami Gami Devil [Inconsistant Damage Dealer]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
Start off the battle with everyone focusing on attack. His attacks aren't all
that powerful and the faster you can drain his HP, the better. However, make
sure you are keeping your eyes on everyones health. If anyones bar starts to
drop just get Narcia to pop in a heal spell or two. When the battle approaches
its end, you'll be glad if everyone is still alive.

The only point this battle can get really difficult is when it starts to use
its 'Bless' skill which heals himself for 750. When it gets to this point, make
sure you're going for the max damage you can deal each turn. Pietro's 'Thunder
Strike' can do 500+ damage if you're at a decent level. If you find you can't
damage him as fast as he's healing, try using a focus attack for each of your
party members. If he doesn't heal in consecutive turns, you should be alright.

Make sure you use any items needed to keep your group using their most powerful
special attacks. Blessed and Pure Waters are a must in this battle!

Worst case scenario, get Narcia to use retribution on everyone. Her MP is better
saved for healing, but get her to cast a couple of buffing spells if you're
confident with your health.

-- GABO'S POWER --
------------------
Name: Monoceros
Description: Heals everyone in the party and removes all status ailments.
MP Cost: 60
Usefulness: **
Strategy: If your whole party is low on health then this summon is an absoloute
life saver. However, if you're using one person in your party at all times to
heal then this summon is pretty much never necessary. Plus, it uses a lot of
Gabo's MP. It's most useful point is that it cures status ailments. So if you
ever find yourself with a party of confused members, this is the spell to use!

Best Party Member: Pietro/Gabo [High Damage Dealer]
Worst Party Member: Leona [Low Physical Defence]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
If you've been defeating the summons in the order this FAQ suggests, then Gabo
should be a real asset to your party by now. He can massively shorten the
amount of time it takes to win this battle as long as you're well stocked up
on MP-restoring waters.

Marchocias' Hell's Roar isn't any more powerful than the other elemental
summon attacks you've seen. In fact, it's probably a little weaker. But again
it will hit everyone no matter where you're standing, so just keep everyone
grouped together to make for easy healing.

As for positioning, put your healer inbetween the rest of your party members
so they can't be hit by physical attacks. If you're like me and use Narcia
you'll want her out of the way of the physical attacks or she'll go down
very quickly. If you block her off, then Marchocias will only be able to
hit her with Hell's Roar, which she's highly resistant against. Also, you
should use this opportunity to cast a shield spell on everyone seen they're
so close together. This is especially important on Gabo so that a physical
attack won't kill him.

Other than that, just make sure you're keeping up your attacks. It can't heal
at all so just keep damaging it until it's finally defeated. If you're around
level 30 at this point (like I was) it should be a pretty easy battle. The
only thing you may want to try is summoning Esperanze as you'll deal around
850 damage to him. Gabo should be able to cast this twice before he'd out of
MP. If that happens, just get Narcia to revive him again.

-- GABO'S POWER --
------------------
Name: Marchocias
Description: Damages all enemies and inflicts random status ailments.
MP Cost: 60
Usefulness: **
Strategy: I wouldn't really use this one. Sure, it's fun to confuse your
enemies into beating each other up, but the status ailment they take is
random. It doesn't deal as much damage as other summons and costs the same MP,
so steer clear of it unless you want to inflict ailments.

Best Party Member: Pietro [High Damage Dealer/Good Defence]
Worst Party Member: Leona [Low Physical Defence]

-- BATTLE STRATEGY --
---------------------
Okay! The final summon is upon us! It certainly is the hardest of the six to
beat, but you should be able to manage if you use each party member wisely. For
this battle I went with Pietro, White Knight, Narcia, and Gabo. You'll want to
arrange the four of them in a square. Put Pietro and White Knight at the front
and Gabo and Narcia behind them. King Knight uses his physical attack about the
same amount as his magic one, so you want your frontline well defended.

Hopeully, his physical attack won't hit Pietro or White Knight for more than
around 120, but just make sure Narcia focuses on healing and you should be
fine. Pietro should be just using his most powerful attacks over and over again
and the same goes for White Knight. Get Narcia to heal everyone with healing
rain and restore Gabo's MP when required. If you have a spare turn, get her to
cast life shield on Pietro or White Knight (whoever's taking more damage) or
revive Gabo if he's dead.

With Gabo, just keep using Esperanze. It'll hopeully do 800 or so damage to
King Knight which will be a great help. Just make sure you keep his MP topped
up. If Gabo does die and you're too busy healing White Knight and Pietro to
revive him, then just leave him. You can still win this battle without him as
long as Narcia doesn't die.

If you do lose Narcia (or whoever's healing) in this battle, revive them as
soon as you can! Without a well placed healing rain every few turns, this
will become far more difficult than it needs to be.

-- GABO'S POWER --
------------------
Name: King Knight
Description: Deals physical damage to all enemies.
MP Cost: 100
Usefulness: *****
Strategy: This is by far the best summon skill you will get. It also costs the
most MP to use, but you should have Gabo around level 30 by now which means you
can cast this twice without needing to restore his MP. This attack does 1200+
damage to every enemy on a battlefield. So, trust me, you're not going to need
it twice. Use this over Esperanze as well, it just 400+ extra damage and is
only 10 MP more.

After acquiring all the summons, Gabo can still be used effectively in a
variety of different ways. The following bits of information are some of the
ways I personally found him most useful.

Usually, you'll want to use a few of these strategies one after the other
for the best results in battle. Just make sure Gabo isn't doubling in a role
another party member already does. For example, if Narcia is doing an
excellent job at healing, there's no need to heal with Gabo as well. Get him
to focus on attacking.

-- ELEMENTAL DPS --
-------------------
To use this strategy you need either the Esperanze, Kalra, or Bubun Babun
summons. It also helps if you know what your enemy is weak to. Basically you
spam one summon spell over and over again every turn Gabo has. Bubun Babun is
recommended as it requires the least MP, but it does depend on the enemy you're
fighting. By spamming one of these summon spells, you can literally do
thousands of damage in very few turns. The only downside is that Gabo will
constantly needs his MP topped up. Get one of your other party members to do it
if they have a free turn.

-- GRAND KNIGHT --
------------------
Just keep using King Knight and annihilating everything. For this strategy you
will need to carry a lot of waters with you and get Gabo's MP as high as you
can using seeds.

+-----------------------------------[04.02]-----------------------------------+

-- ITEM USER --
---------------
This strategy is best used before Gabo acquires any summons, but can also prove
to be useful in certain situations after that. The basic idea here is that Gabo
only ever uses items. He doesn't attack physically or with skills, he purely
supports the rest of the party by restoring their MP and keeping them alive.

By using only Gabo it allows the rest of your party to focus on taking down the
enemies. This strategy is particularly useful if you don't have any good
healers in your party ie. Narcia.

-- MONOCEROS OBSESSED --
------------------------
This strategy is similiar to the item user, but instead of only using items,
Gabo should only use the Monoceros skill. This strategy is a little trickier
though because you still need to keep Gabo's MP topped up through items. The
best way to do that is waiting until someones HP is quite low and then using
the spell. It should be a few turns before anyone needs healing again which
allows you to restore Gabo's MP.

Honestly, this strategy is only useful in a handful of situations. Primarily
when you are underlevelled for a boss fight and require constant, major
healing.

-- ORB USER --
--------------
Again, this one is better used before Gabo learns any summons as it's a
strategy that's pretty much the same as using summons, but good before you
get any of them.

Don't bother using Gabo to attack, just get him to use summon orbs from
your inventory. He'd got a lot of MP, so he's perfect for pulling out those
very useful orange-coloured orbs. Just mix-and-match them as needed in a
battle!

-- MEAT SHIELD --
-----------------
Again, this strategy is more useful before Gabo gets any summons, but can also
be good if he has run out of MP and isn't doing you any good.

All you need to do here is put Gabo as the closest party member to an enemy in
the hopes he will be attacked. If Gabo isn't doing anything useful for you, it
provides the rest of your useful members with a few turns where they won't take
damage. The longer it takes the enemy to kill Gabo the better, so don't be
afraid to cast defensive spells on him. Use those extra turns to get everyone
healed up and ready to fight again, or just to throw in some extra damage.

After Gabo dies, you could revive him and try again, but this is usually a one
off strategy.

-- SACRIFICE --
---------------
This works the same as the previous strategy, but don't bother casting any
defensive spells on Gabo. Just walk him into an enemy and wait until he dies.
Basically, don't waste your precious MP points on him. Best used if you're in
a long battle and low on MP recovery items.

+-----------------------------------[04.04]-----------------------------------+

-- CASE BY CASE --
------------------
To use this strategy properly, you need a good knowledge of what you're
fighting. If you know what your enemies weakness is, pick the summon spell that
it will be weak against. This is the most balanced strategy to go for as you
are basically using each summon as it is required. This is probably the easiest
way to play Gabo and comes in useful the most often, but don't be afraid to
try some of the more daring ones if you think it'll work.

V-mode -- For Sitar's Clues relating to Barun Babun, Kalra, and Esperanze.

As I said in the introduction, I am still looking for information on the HP
each summon has when you fight it. Any additional Gabo strategies would be
welcome too! Also, I need all of the missing Sitar's clues as well.

To contact me about them, just send an email to the address listed at the top
of this document! Please don't ask me questions about the game in general
though, there's other Walkthroughs to help you with that!
