Introduction <IN01>

This FAQ is based on the Japanese Version of Wild Arms the Vth
Vanguard, which is released on 14th of December 2006. When I was
writing this FAQ, the release date for the NA version has yet to
be announced, but once it is released, I will update this FAQ to suit
the NA release as well.
Note that this is the first time I wrote an FAQ, so don't expect
any fancy stuff.
This FAQ does not contain any Japanese characters.
This FAQ MIGHT contain spoilers, so use it at your own risk.

Badges in WA5 <BA01>
======================================================================
What are badges? Well to put it simple, badges have the same effect
as equipping accessory in the other RPGs. Now, letfs get into the
basic of badges in WA5
1. The badges are divided into 5 ranks, which is Rank S, A, B, C and D.
2. There is a total of 70 badges, which is 1 Rank S, 6 Rank A, 24 Rank
B, 29 Rank C and 10 Rank D badges.
3. To obtain badges, you can
- buy them
- synthesis them
- steal from enemies
- obtain them for treasure boxes
- do sub quests.
4. In Wild Arms V, the maximum number of badges a character can equip
is 5.
5. In default, without equipping any medium, each character have a
badge slot. By equipping medium, each character gain their second
badge slot at level 10, and the third one at level 20, fourth one
at level 40, and the fifth one at level 80.
6. Badges aren't that useful if used alone. However, by combining it
with several other badges or passive skills, it will prove to be
extremely powerful.

Okay, this is how I will list down the badges.
Name: The name of the badge
Effect: The effect of the badge
Box(s): Location of Boxes containing that particular badge (for over
world boxes, I'm not going to list the coordination)
Steal: Monster having that particular badge, for steal. (Rare) simply
means it is a rare steal, while (Boss) means it is a Boss monster.
Shop: The shops that have the badge for sale
BM: Whether Black Market has the badge for sale
BS: whether you can synthesis the badge or not
Quest: the name for the quest, which rewards that particular badge

Black Market <BA04>
======================================================================
Yup, black market is back again, in WA5. But, then again, to gain
access to black market, you need the black pass. As for how to get it,
please kindly refer to the full walkthroughs out there.
Just like in WA4, to purchase stuffs from black market, the currency
used is not Gella, but Level. For example, if you were to purchase
pocketbook, which costs -20 levels, you have to deduct 20 levels in
total from your 6 characters' levels.
Note that the max level you can deduct from each character is 99
levels, provided he/she is level 100, and after deducted, level 1.
To fully utilize the black market, there is always an easy EXP trick.

First, purchase as much silver sun and priest badge as you can
afford in Honeysday. Then, go to Missesmia, create Laurel Crowns
with badge synthesis. Sell all the Laurel Crowns you have created.
Repeat until you have the max gella allowed.
Equip the strongest in-battle character with a pocketbook, and
fight the Gella Eater Monster in TARTARUS. Let it eat your money,
use a lucky card, and kill it with the character equipped with
pocketbook. You should be able to gain about 2 mil exp for one kill.

Badges Recommedations <BA06>
======================================================================
To have the best badges combinations, you need to look at each
character's personal skills, which is:
Dean - 2X damage when critical
Rebecca - Repetitive attacks from 2 - 5 times (Same effect as
violator, but at a way lower rate)
Avril - DP damage is increased when attack/shoot command is used
Greg - Auto Guard after every turn
Carol - Attack from anywhere to anywhere (not distance limited).
The Damage dealt varies.
Chuck - Attack/Shoot deals more damage when Chuck's HP is lower.
Then, you have to look at what medium the character is equipping. As
for what stats each medium increased, I assume you already know it.
Note that the below are only RECOMMENDATIONS made by me, for normal
and boss battles, before you even acquire All Over. I will list down
each and every characters, along with their recommended mediums and
badges. Furthermore, I am making an assumption that all characters are
at least at level 80, with all 5 badges slot unlocked.

Mainly because with either of the mediums, Dean will ALMOST always be
the first one to move in any battle, thus with force carrot, you will
have a full Force bar for your disposal at the very beginning of the
battle. The last slot is solely for you own disposal. Some people
might advise using Mist Cloak, while I like to use Berserker or Gun
Star Sign.

As mentioned above, Rebecca's personal skill will have the same effect
as Violator, but at a lower rate. With Violator equipped, she can deal
more than 5 times of damage, provided she has enough bullet with her.
Since Rebecca's attack range type is a straight line, long range type,
she will most probably behind your tanker. Thus, by equipping berserker
she can deal more damage, by abusing her multiple shot technique.

As for Avril, since her personal skill is increase DP damage, I highly

I don't have much to say about Carol. I mainly use her as a healer,

Another mad attacker. In Chuck's case, what you would like to see is
him, getting into critical status, i.e. HP is red. If Chuck is at full
hp, Dual cast should help dealing damage. You could also replace Cat
hand or Dual Cast with Comet Mark.

Ragu o Ragula
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Wild ARMs Vth is your first WA game, then you might not know that
Ragu o Ragula is the hardest optional boss in the series. So the
badges recommendation will be a little different.
To make things simple, I will recommend two ways, to defeat Ragu o
Ragula.

Orange 100 Trick
----------------
I recommend using Carol, Avril and Dean for this trick with at least
level 80, which is the level that you unlock your 5th badge slot.
Equip Carol with the medium of sea, while Avril and Dean with the
medium of sword. You could switch medium of sword with medium of sky,
but it will take longer. Why? Continue reading.
For Carol, equip the school uniform costume, and any bullet that
increase eva and agi. For badges, she will equip
Orange 100
Violator
Sheriff Star
Teres Tiara or Mist Cloak
Another Sheriff Star
For Dean and Avril, let them equip
Dual Cast

With these badges, Ragu's killer move, the 1 million and -1 million
celcius attacks won't kill your party instantly. The main reason of
equipping sheriff stars is to increase the stats, mainly AGI, ATK
and
DP. Medium of Sword is the choice here, since it has the 2 turn
force skill, and the more turns your party have, before the enemy
moves (in other words, the higher your chain), the higher the damage
you dealt on the enemy.
The healer, Carol in this case, shouldn't heal any of the party
members but, will only revive them if they got killed. She should
act as the tanker of the party, and use normal attack when
no one is dead.

Violator Trick
----------------
For this trick, you should use Avril and Rebecca. The third one is
your own choice.
Equip Avril and Rebecca with medium of sword and the following badges
Violator
Cat hand
Sheriff Star X 3 or Sheriff Star X2 and Mist Cloak
For bullets, give them to one with most ammo.
For this method, it is HIGHLY recommended that you ABUSE black market
for its stat apples, mainly the AGI, EVA and STR apples.
Get all of them to 999 (except AGI, which is 998), then enter the
battle.
Keep nuking Ragu with the skill, and wait till it cast the killer
move. Then keep on using attack command. With Avril's personal skill
DP damage up, Violator and the multiple Sheriff star, while Rebecca's
personal skill which works almost the same as violator, Ragu will
not get to cast its killer move on you, while your chain increase,
the damage per shot increase, which is kinda sweet. With the third
character using the same badges, defeating it is as easy as any
random encounter in the game (provided that you have high AGI and
EVA)
No doubt, this trick is much more time consuming compared to the
Orange 100 trick, but it is kinda fun looking at your chains, and Ragu
not having any chance to move after casting.
