¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
You might be saying to yourself, "But Jag, I've done everything in We Love
Katamari, there isn't anything you could possibly show me." Well you've got
some attitude, Mister. And besides, you're wrong.
You may have noticed some funny glows or starbursts around your planets as the
King makes them. Well this is because you're an awesome player and the will of
millions of people worldwide is keeping those planets bright and shiny. You're
just loved that much.
The point behind them is to give you a greater goal to shoot for in every
level. The slight glow is known as a Great-Clear and the starburst pattern is
known as a Super-Clear. These go above and beyond the normal goals of each
level, and are only for bragging rights.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Right off the bat, you will notice that I do not give you tips on how to build
a Katamari. There are plenty of other guides that lay out the basics. This
guide is aimed at players who have a firm understanding of how Katamari works
and who have probably played all of the levels several times. This is not to
say I'm cutting you adrift to find your own way, else why would I have written
a guide?
The purpose of this guide is to help those trying to attain the Super-Clears in
every level throughout the game. In the initial release, I put forth the
methods and paths I took personally to get them. They may not always be the
best, but they work. In later submissions, I plan to take guides other people
send me and give you, the player, several methods to choose from. For
information on submitting your own guide, see the Submissions section.

05. Terms and Guidelines [TrmGd]

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Here are several terms you will run into during the guide and their basic
definitions:
1. Dash - Alternating the control sticks in a quick manner, causing your
Katamari to issue a burst of speed.
A) Light\Heavy Dash - There are differing degrees of Dashing achieved
by the length of time you alternate the sticks
to build it up.
B) Carrying a Dash - Continue alternating the sticks while Dashing
and the Dash will continue.
C) "Huff"ing - Too much Dashing causes your character to tire
out and will make it impossible to Dash for a
while.
2. Quick Turn - Pressing both control sticks in to jump over the Katamari
and change direction.
3. Ignore the King - Just as it sounds. If you can start rolling while
the King is still talking, do so. He'll get angry,
but you can press X a few times to get rid of him or
let him stop talking on his own.
4. Group/Herd/Pack - Items for growing your Katamari will usually come in
groups ranging from about 5 up to 100 or so. These
come in handy for growing quickly.
5. Line - Like group, but a logical, sometimes clearly defined, line of
objects for you to pick up.
6. Lake Titicaca - It lies between Bolivia and Peru.
For each level, you are given what objective you need to meet to clear it
normally, time to make a Meteor (if applicable) and the Super-Clear
requirement. Great-Clear requirements are not listed currently as they are
encompassed by the Super-Clear times. Any pertinent information for the level
follows this.
Levels where there are a set number of items for you to collect are broken down
for you by area. I will endeavor to rigidly define these areas for you as I
break down the level, but without pictures, you'll be using your imagination.
Whenever you see a breakdown, it's usually best to use it as a loose guideline
of how many things you should have after passing through a certain area.
Levels that are so similar as not to need separate guides (Sumo and Campfire
levels) are given rough outlines instead of 3 separate but almost identical
guides.
Items you can pick up are usually Capitalized if the actual name or something
close to it is given. If I did not know the exact name or you can find
something general (like trees, bushes, etc.) they are not capitalized.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
The ALAP levels are all very easy to Super-Clear. It may not seem so at first,
but if you're interested in Super-Clearing levels then you've probably already
played through them a number of times anyway. I'm going to assume you know how
to build a Katamari and, rather than walk you through every little step. I
will point out appropriate groups of items for your size.
It really doesn't matter where you start this level; you'll have a good variety
of things to pick up right off the bat. You should have no problem reaching
the 15cm mark within 1:20 for the meteor. The Mahjong tiles and Strawberries
make good early items to pick up.
Later on, just before 15cm, the thread spools are good, followed by the
Mandarin Oranges. From there you can get the Tennis Balls and climb the Tennis
Racket to get the canned food on the box. Collect the larger items on the
table then on top of the cabinet you can reach from the couch.
Good items to collect above 25cm are the Mosquito Zapper, the Cup Noodles,
Video Tapes and the Paper Tigers on the couch. The Cookie Tin is probably the
biggest thing in the level you can get.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
For the most part, the AFAP levels are not hard to Super-Clear. The sequence
of items you pick up is key, and you should be able to make 55 seconds without
too much frustration or mad dashing.
There are 2 viable starting points here. One starts you in the potted plant
with a bunch of Clovers and the other on top of the cabinet with Bells and
Mahjong Tiles. I prefer the second for the reason that climbing up to the
cabinet takes longer than falling off it.
Pick up some Bells then the line of Mahjong tiles. Next pick up the Batteries
on the edge and fall down to pick up the 3 Strawberries on the level below you.
Fall to the floor and head to the Cookie Tin. Pick up the Fork and the
Chocolate Pies and more Batteries.
Dash along, picking up small items and Magnets and go to the potted plant,
climbing up the ramp to get the Clovers. Bump the tree to make it drop Monster
Cherries to the ground. Drop back down and pick up the nearby Spools of Thread
then the Monster Cherries and finally the Mandarin Oranges to finish.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Once again, you should have no problem Super-Clearing this level. I prefer
starting on the back of the couch with the line of items available. From the,
the Sandwich Cookies make a good addition.
Once you pass 20cm, you can leave the apartment, and I suggest it as there's
not much left for you inside. Roll down the hill and take stuff from the
picnics set out. Follow the road around the building nearby and pick up what
you can in the garden behind it.
Roll through the Brick wall here to pick up a ton of Bricks (not literally).
Get the Haniwas from the display stand and roll back out into the alley, much
bigger and able to collect more. The Pansies and the Vegetables are a good
idea right now. As are the Roses back on the upper level.
You should be able to collect the animals fairly soon, as well as the boxes
littering the alleyway. You will hit 90cm in no time.

This one is just ridiculously easy. For the sake of aesthetics, we'll start
out in the picnic area. Steal the picnic foods and Cookie Tins. Get the
Kebabs and then roll up the Rose patch.
Drop down into the alley and get the stuff near the truck. Dash around to the
backside of the building while collecting objects and grab the Large Milk
Cartons as you enter the garden. Roll right up to the wall of Bricks and
finish off the level.

I really don't know why I'm bothering with the ALAP levels really. The chances
are great that you will run out of items long before you run out of time on
this level.
Start off anywhere, there's plenty to be had in the apartment. When you hit
20cm, go outside and pillage your heart out. There are good groups of items
everywhere. When you hit over 50cm, hang around in this area a bit longer,
although it's not really necessary.
Head into town and pick up the Big Kokeshi planted in the farm where you come
over the bridge. Roam the streets for items, there's a great cache in the
alley in front of the school. There's also a good amount of items for you at
about 1m in the street on the far side of town (from the apartment you started
at).
When you can pick up people easily, hit the schoolyard and you should hit your
goal fast. Pick up the fence on the side of the yard and start backtracking
and cleaning up places like the playground and the town streets. Walls and
fences will probably be your best bet, there's construction going on near the
train station.
Just keep searching out things to pick up, you'll top out while you're picking
up small trees, most of which grow near the school alley.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I can remember that this level threw for a loop the first few times I tried to
Super-Clear it. Then I realized it was my fault for assuming they would
provide you with everything you need right at hand like the first two levels.
The trick they've pulled on you is that the area where you started out for the
first two (up by the apartments) is simply packed with goodies for you, BUT
none of the starting positions are close to it. The closest one is on a
tractor near the wall of Televisions. Ignore everything else and head straight
for the bridge from the farm.
Cross it and head to the alley around the building. There are tons of children
in the playground area for you to start off with, and a lot more in the alley
with some adults. Work back to the corner of the level and start picking up
the rows of bushes in front of the apartments.
You will quickly reach your goal about the time you get to the part where there
are 3 fights going on. These should put you over with plenty of time to spare.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Basic Katamari building skills will get you through here. Even though the next
section becomes available at 50cm, you should stick around in the first area
until about 75cm. There's plenty to pick up, and once you get around 75cm,
cross the bridge and pick up the plants in the farmer's field. Follow that
with the Chickens and the Bamboo Fence.
Your next goal is 3m, but you'll be hanging around here until about 5m50cm. At
any rate, start picking up the usual stuff until you get to people. Once that
hits, head back to the first area and get all the big items and people you had
to leave behind. You should pass 3m up here before you go back into town.
Back in town, pick up Vending Machines, people, small trees, Bushes, etc. until
you're almost 5m. Head into the schoolyard at this time and get the kids with
the Red Balls and anything else you see that looks good. Pass through the 3m
barrier and collect some fish in the pool and on your way down to the river.
In this town, you can pick up cars, Palm Trees, whatever. Roll through the
construction zone for all the girders then work your way to the Ferris Wheel.
Get to about 9m and sit under the Ferris Wheel, letting the cars come to you.
You will pass your goal of 12m just sitting there.
Go back into town and start collecting small buildings and Heartful Trees.
Work your way back to the starting town and collect all the buildings, Big
Trees and, eventually, Huge Trees there. From here on, just roll around the
level, picking up whatever you left behind. Also, there are some buildings in
the city you can pick up, mainly on the outskirts.

Start off next to the Ferris Wheel, to make things easier roll around to the
other side while the king is still talking. The reason for this is that there
is an Elephant riding in one of the slots that can cause you grief. After he
passes, pick up the next Ferris Wheel Car and sit there, letting them come to
you until the elephant comes around again.
At this point dash into the city, picking up small buildings as you go. Pick
up as many small buildings and Heartful Trees as you can on your way toward the
town with the school. When you get there, start picking up the town. With
about 2m left you can pick up Huge Trees which will quickly finish the level
for you.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Well, there's not much to say other than that this is the longest level. If
you've collected all of the cousins, then you know playing it four times is bad
enough. But we must press on and draw ever closer to our goal.
The problem most people have with this level is the same as the one from
Katamari Damacy. When you get very large, you find running between islands is
very time consuming. Well, there's not much to be helped about it, but you can
make sure to visit some islands before others and gain fantastic size.
It doesn't really matter where you start, use the same method as you did for
ALAP4. Stay in an area even past the barrier size and collect a lot of
objects. The reason this works is that there's a lot of items beyond the
barriers that you'll need to be well over the minimum size to get and it's
faster to be able to get everything in one shot rather than wander back and
forth.
Be at about 5-6m for the 3m barrier and around 30m for the 12m barrier. Things
start getting interesting after the 12m, you begin to tour the world. Where
Canada is next to France is right up against the American West and the White
House is in Hollywood.
After you pass the 12m barrier, dash up the highway and collect the larger
structures in the town beyond. Quick Turn and head for France, picking up the
multitude of large buildings. From there, pass over Greece, turn around and
head down into London. Keep going across the desert and into China. In China,
you should pass 60m.
Pick up most of the stuff in China and the islands off its coast then head for
Easter Island and get some Moai. Cross the water to New York and wipe it off
the face of the earth. Then cross the 60m barrier into Hollywood where you
should hit 100m. Climb into the American West, grabbing Death Valleys, towns
and Mount Rushmore.
You can follow the curve of Niagara Falls back to France and get the monuments
you missed. This leads back to the city you started in. Grab those buildings
and keep going to pick up the great Wall of China. You should be about 150m
now. Get the Taj Mahal and Angkor Wat then start collecting the small islands
you can pick up.
From China, head across the water to an island with dinosaurs. Get them then
enter the desert, you should be able to pull up pieces of it. If not, then
collect a bit more. After pulling up most the desert, you should hit the 500m
goal.
Start pulling up the surrounding islands you've been rolling on, and you should
pass 1000m extremely fast. Quickly look around for a volcanic island nearby
and head for it. The small volcanos around it will put you at about 1300m.
From there, keep looking for nearby islands, dash to them, collect as much of
them as you can and move on.
Rainbows and Whirlpools offer good boosts until you can pick up clouds, which
are probably the best way to gain size over 3000m. Remember to get the King
and Queen together in your Katamari!

Rather than waste time and energy writing the exact same thing again with
different, prettier words, I'm going to tell you now that getting the
Super-Clear in this level is the exact same as the first 1000m in its
size-building counterpart with the major difference being you start out much
larger this time.
So start out collecting Pine Decorations and people. Cross the 3m barrier at
about 5m, cross the 12m at about 30m. Just generally follow the As Large as
Possible guide up until you pick up all the desert and surrounding islands.
You may have to dash over to the volcano for the last 100m, but it's more than
doable. You have plenty of time.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Ground level is defined as everything not underwater except the path around the
lake and the circle of flowerbeds on the hilltop. The lake path is
self-explanatory, the flowers are listed as if you were following the path
starting on the right side of the lake (as you look at it from the hill. The
Lake Bottom is self-explanatory as well.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This guide is written for those who wish to get 100% of the flowers. While
this is not necessary for a Super-Clear, those of you who like to get 100% need
to be satiated (I'm one of them). You don't need to follow the method to the
letter, but be sure if you're trying to follow the totals that you take into
account you might have accidentally picked up a few flowers out of sequence and
the totals may be off for you.
Your main problem in this level is that you it is extremely easy to miss a
single flower in any of the beds or bushes, and you will drive yourself crazy
trying to find it at the end. A secondary problem is that you will need to
upgrade once in order to pick up the larger varieties of flowers. As you grow,
though, you'll find yourself missing less and less flowers. You won't need to
do much dashing in this level, you can probably make it without a single dash
in fact. Although it's a good idea to dash between spots where flowers are
located, it's a very bad idea to dash while collecting flowers; you will
definitely miss some flowers.
My favorite starting position is the one that sets you down with a purple
flowerbed on your left and an orange flowerbed in front of you. This place
offers the least amount of backtracking to pick up larger flowers. Ignore the
King and start by clearing the purple flowerbed on your left (41). Roll in a
straight line along one edge of the flowers, quick turn take off the next line
of flowers and repeat once more. It should be clean after 3 passes (this is
the method you will be using for all the flowerbeds that take more than one
roll through).
Roll down the hill and clean up the orange flowerbed (147). You will see a
Calf nearby with flowers on him, but he's better left for later. While you can
run into him then pass straight through him to pick up the flowers on him, he
will more than likely send you flying. Follow the curve right to pick up a
line of Roses (165) then pick up the Roses and Dandelions around the stump
(216) (get the Rabbits and Duck for size). You should see a Dwarf with Roses
on his head here so knock him down and pick him up (222).
Clean up the yellow flowerbed that is slightly uphill (292), and you should get
your first upgrade. Clean up the bushes around the outer arc (4 of them with
big, red flowers on top) (328), the ones in the middle arc (6 of them) (376),
and all the flowers in the center circle (9 bushes, 2 bunny topiaries and one
on the arch) (474). You can pick up the Calf (480) by now.
Head over to the 4 arches with flowers on them (484) and clean up the pink
flowerbed (511), and the lower (534) and upper (575) purple flowerbeds. Head
for the top of the hill and the flowerbeds and bushes surrounding the tree on
top. You can follow the circle around a couple times, but you'll find yourself
missing a lot of flowers this way. It's easier to clean up each bed and bush
seperately (778), and don't forget the flower on the Deer Topiary nearby (779).
Dash over to the arcing path around the lake, either side is fine, but I start
with the entrance on the right of the lake (as you look at it), and this guide
will reflect that. While on the path, watch out for the Duck with a flower on
its back (780) (depending on when you pick it up, your total may be off by one
here).
Roll through the pink bush on the right after you start on the path (786) and
the Lily Bell group (816) on the left. Get the Sunflowers (823) and the
flowerbed (864) on the right side of the path then the flowerbed on the left
side (906). Pick up the patch of Kales (920) and the second Lily Bell group
(959) behind it. Get the next batch of Sunflowers (964), the Bush next to it
(970) then the flowerbed on the right of the path (1010) and the last Kale
patch (1021).
Going on, there's another flowerbed on the right (1046) followed by Sunflowers
(1051) and Rose bushes on the right (1056) and left (1062). There's one last
large flowerbed on the right (1138) and a last Rose bush on the left (1143).
Time for the home stretch; simply roll down into the lake, pick up all the
flowers down here. There are 91 of them, and none are hard to find so I won't
go bit by bit anymore. Remember the Happy Flowers can move around, the Lotus
Leaves each have 2 flowers by them and that Pitcher Plants are flowers. Follow
the outer edge of the bottom to find a some of the flowers and then the edge of
the lake to pick up a lot in the reeds. Make sure you get the Happy Flower
chasing the dwarf, the giant one on the island in the middle and the one God
wears on her head (1234).

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Coming back to this level, I was surprised that it still gave me a tough time
breaking the Super-Clear mark of 1:00. I'm probably missing something or just
not catching on to where there might be a great cache of flowers. It might
take you a few tries with this method, but I can get it to work consistently,
so here it goes.
You're offered an abundance of flowers no matter where you start off, but my
favorite is the one that sets you between the pink and purple flowerbeds with
the orange one in the distance. You'll be using controlled dashes for most of
this level, just be careful not to go wild.
Start with the purple flowerbed on your left. Dash up one side of it, carrying
through the orange one, quick turn, then dash up the other side. Don't worry
about picking up all the flowers, instead make it so that your lines through
these beds don't overlap to maximize the amount of flowers you collect.
When you reach the top of the hill again, follow the circular flower beds
around twice, making sure to pick up as many flowers as you can again. Watch
out for the Deer as it can more than likely knock you back at this time. If
you can dash through these circles, even better, but it has a strong potential
to send you wild.
The next part is a matter of preference, I prefer picking up the flowers on the
bushes in the middle (with the Bunny Topiaries) since they add to your size a
lot more. This makes the next part easier as more size means you have less
chance of missing the Lily Bells as you pass through the bushes. You can
easily take the path around the right of the center (as you look downhill)
which has flowers in straight lines in the flowerbeds.
Either way, make a quick circuit around the stump, picking up roses and making
sure to pick up the Dandelions (which are worth 3 each, like the Lily Bells).
Then go on the path around the lake, picking up the Lily Bells to the right of
the path, dashing through the flowerbed and getting the Kales by the tree.
There's one more Lily Bell group to the left of the path beyond the tree, and
that should finish off the level.

This level is insanely easy to get 100% on.
When you start out, roll down the hill, dashing off the stump cause you to
bounce and slows you down slightly. The momentum of the hill is a lot better.
When you reach the bottom, make a beeline straight through the approximate
middle of the meadow. When you reach the other side, quick jump over the
Katamari and follow the line you just made on one side. Continue quick jumping
and picking up the next 2 rows of sweets until you clear off that side of the
meadow, then do the same for the other side, picking up 2 to 3 rows and being
careful not to miss any. When you collect the 1376th Sweet, roll up the hill
and pick up Hansel and Gretel.
Some of the levels have a zig-zag pattern to the sweet tiles. This doesn't
change the strategy, just makes it easier to miss tiles.

The house area is just everything in the circle around the house. There are 13
Flowers on the hill (defined by where the brown path meets the grass and
everything above, as well as 6 Star Cookies and 6 animal cookies. The ONLY
reason I split these up is that I couldn't think of any better way to remind
you of the fact that there are 3 Pig Cookies on top of the hill.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This level is slightly harder than the Sweet Meadow, but 1 try should be enough
for a Super-Clear and a few more for the 100%.
Once again, just roll down the hill, collecting a few of the flowers on your
way and being careful not to get hung up on the stars. Roll straight up the
path and into the house. Spend some time collecting floor and wall tiles, but
don't worry about getting everything just now; you'll be coming back.
A little bit after the first upgrade, head out the back of the house and
collect the ring of flowers around it by following the curve in one direction,
picking up 2 rows at once, quick turning at the end and collecting the other 2
on the way back, picking up any nearby animal cookies on the way. Follow the
other side of the curve in the same manner.
You should be big enough to pick up the roof supports to the house now. Do
that and start collecting the roof and well too, still not being too picky
about leaving a few objects behind. Follow the outer circle of star cookies
and cookie trees. You will notice the trees leave behind a stump; you'll be
making this circle again for the peppermints and puddings so pick up the stumps
while doing that.
Finally, pick up whatever you may have missed. You should be just under a
minute at this point, and you'll want about 20-30 seconds to make the return
trip up the hill. Pick up the star cookies and flowers on your way up, and
don't forget about the 3 pig cookies behind the stump before you pick up Hansel
and Gretel.

circles.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This level is easy to get a Super-Clear on for one simple reason, you're going
very fast.
It seems to be best to start by collecting objects by the side of the road and
the smaller ones in the middle. The Katamari is currently too hard to handle
in tight spaces and unable to pick up anything in the water. It actually
becomes easier to maneuver when you're very big because you move in tighter
circles.
When you find yourself big enough to pick up people, head up into the stands on
both sides of the island. Also, guide yourself through the Tire Barriers on
the outside edges of some turns and the long line of Winner's Podiums on the
outside of the track.
By now, you should be picking up those of your opponents not in cars and
perhaps knocking over those that are. When you reach over 4m, it's a good time
to go off-roading in the center part of the island. Pick up fences and rocks
and anything else you can mow down. When you're satisfied, explore the areas
on the outside of the track, the areas around the buildings have a good amount
of items, and at about 9m, the Sailboats in the harbor give you a good boost.
Over 10m, you can pick up the smaller trees on the island and some of the
smaller buildings. From here on, use your rolling tactics to roll up the
larger items strewn about the level. The outlying buildings make good
additions, and the giant tires that arch over the track can be picked up as
well. You can do a circuit of the island in about 2 seconds so time shouldn't
be an issue.

Once again, speed is your friend. It might take you several tries to get the
Super-Clear this time, but you should make it without too much hair pulling.
I will simply guide you to some of the better groups of items to collect.
To start off, veer to the right and pick up the people and other items there,
being careful not to get caught up on the cameras. Cross the track to the
outer edge at the first curve and pick up the Winner's Podiums there followed
by the line of Tire Barriers on the next curve.
You should be able to pick up people on ATVs now and there should be a good
number driving right near you. Collect some of them and any Tire Barriers you
can while you're after them. Turn toward the inside of the track and roll in a
few circles through the middle (it's hard to say what you'll be picking up, but
there's a lot there). Try to hit the stands as well for a lot of people. You
should have much less 1m left very quickly.
You should start picking up Racecars, but another good place to get objects
(which you can visit while still running around the racetrack) is between the
large ship and the building with the Wrestling Ring. There are Barriers and
Pipes and Flower Beds here for you.

Time for revenge. I want you to mentally plaster the faces of all the people
who ever dumped your books or gave you a wedgie in school over those of the
people you'll be rolling up in this level. What? No one ever did that to you?
Oh, me either...
The best place to start off is on top of the desks with India Ink and Papers
all over them. Pick up most of the stuff on this table then roll over the
Protractors and Rulers to pick up all the food on this table and the teacher's
desk. Drop to the floor and pick up random stuff while you head for the corner
with a tower of buckets in it.
The buckets will give you your first upgrade, after which, head diagonally
across the room to get the Test Tubes and Haniwas for your second upgrade and
the ability to roam the halls. Head down the hall to the bathrooms, getting
Soccer Balls and Backpacks on your way. Pick up the Toilet Paper packs in the
bathroom, steering clear of the stall doors that open on you.
Head across the hall, bowling a strike if you feel like it. Go into the offices
and immediately right and on top of the desk for a lot of equipment. You can
probably pick up the chairs by now too. Find some larger stuff either in this
office or out in the hall until you can pick up Desks in the classrooms
(1m60cm1mm). Head into one of them (I prefer the first) and clean house. Get
as many of the students as you can as well, but you will be coming back, so a
few can escape... for now.
You should be able to pick up the walls between the classroom and the hall so
do so and also those for the second classroom before you clean it up. Do the
same for the office and bathroom. You should be able to pick up walls and
Chalkboards between classes now, so do that. At the same time, start cleaning
up the leftover people and items in the rooms, you will more than likely run
out of things to collect before you run out of time.

The three rooms here are pretty well defined by walls. The bathroom is
bordered by the hall where the floorboards change to tile. The hall is
anything not included in the above 4. Sometimes students can pass between
rooms, especially after you start tearing down walls.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You may find yourself getting frustrated in this level because your targets are
all mobile. Well, not to worry, you can easily herd any running targets into a
corner and get them all at once, turning a curse into a blessing.
To start off with, curve around the shoes to your left while ignoring the king.
Enter the band room and collect the youngest students who are in an arc right
in front of the School Captain and work your way back through the room (don't
forget the captain is a student). You should be able to pick up the Fat
Schoolboy playing the Taiko Drum before you even go to the other half of the
room.
Roll through the Lockers near the door and get the rest of the students in this
room, you should have 64 left. Roll out into the hall and into the next room,
collecting any students that get in your way. Get the 17 students in here by
herding runners into the corners. Don't forget the one in the corner, the one
riding a broomstick and the one on top of the pile of desks.
Roll into the hall and into the last room, collect the 22 students here, don't
forget the one sitting on the cubbies by the wall and the ones swinging from
the lights. Head out into the hall and head for the bathroom, collecting the
last of the students out here, you should have 10 left.
Get the ones in the bathroom, staring with the ones near the stalls. One
student is popping in and out of the Toilet in the corner and there is one
dangling high up on the wall. You should be big enough to get him, but if not,
run into the wall to knock him down to the ground.

K) Underwater [Udwtr]

+=============================================================================+
Go up to the Floatee Boy, you'll be rolling under the lake. Here are a few
things you should keep in mind while rolling underwater:
1. You very obviously move slower and have less ability to change your
velocity. Very often, you will feel like you are wrestling the Katamari to get
it to go where you want to go. Counteract this by steering earlier and harder
than you normally would.
2. Underwater dashing is a lot different, a badly timed dash can send you
flying clear across the pond. Conversely, using dashes while in mid-air or to
cross low-lying areas can be a useful way to save time if you're good at it.
Dash conservatively, there are different speeds at which you can go into a
dash, and I recommend always using the slowest here by alternating the sticks
only a few times.
3. Fishhooks are your sworn enemy. Not so much a problem getting caught by one
or two in ALAP, but they can still kill your chances.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
I was actually surprised by how hard this level was to get Super-Clear on when
I went through to play it again for the purposes of this guide. It seems like
just getting to the goal of 80cm can be trying.
Okay, the best place to start out is by the tiger-skin rug. Collect the
Lollipops, Doughnuts and 6 Turtle Eggs behind the Paper Tigers. Leave the rug
by the corner the Fan is sitting on and collect the line of Turtle Eggs there.
Here's a good place to practice dashing over a low area, crossing between the
Astronaut and Golf Flag to the other side where there are some Angelfish and
the line of Turtle Eggs continues (sadly, you can't pick up the Gourds yet).
Follow it into the open area with the Car.
Pick up objects in this area (schools of Clownfish are good) until you're large
enough to pick up the Gourds and Haniwas on the hill. You should reach almost
45cm, which will let you pick up the different types of crabs. The best place
to find them is in the area you can reach by going right of the hill the
Haniwas were on (when looking at it, you'll pass by the Treasure Chest).
Pick up the bottles of India Ink, Paint Cans and Snorkels as you collect Crabs
on this arc. At about 60cm, you can knock over Spider Crabs so make sure you
roll them up before they run away. You can make a return trip along the arc,
picking up larger things like the Nautili. When you get back to the other end,
get the Squids and Octopus and travel up and around the hill.
This is a gold mine of Coral which should rocket you past the goal. Pick up
the tower of Pebbles too, but don't get crushed by the falling island. When
you're big enough, get the Algae Balls off to the side too. Pick up the kids
on the island that just fell then follow the shelf on the other side of the
lake to pick up a lot more Coral and Seaweed. At the end of the arc, you
should find yourself close to the rug you started by. Collect the items on top
of it and the ring of inner tubes above.
By now, you should be close to 1m80cm large with about 1 minute left and can
pick up almost all the bigger items in the pond. Return to the area with the
car for a lot of large fish, the bike and more Seaweed. There are also several
adults standing around and a few kids swimming you can get. It should be easy
to hit over 2m with the time remaining.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Welcome to one of the hardest challenges in the game. Super-Clearing the
Underwater AFAP level takes a lot of skill with a healthy dose of luck mixed
in. Be prepared to lose your wits a few times if you're a rather unlucky
person. Remember, anger makes it harder to play effectively so take a short
break to cool down when the urge to kill rises. You need to be fairly good at
handling the underwater dash techniques for this level. You won't be using
them on a regular basis, but there are at least two spots where a well executed
dash will cut off valuable seconds from your time. Getting caught by a
fishhook is out of the question this time.
Once again, the best place to start is on the Tiger-skin rug, as it offers a
lot of items to quickly boost your size. Pick up the Lollipops, Paper Tigers
and Turtle Eggs. Turn Left and head for the Roses you see. If you can pick up
all of them, great, but you shouldn't chance getting knocked back by a school
of fish for if it means missing 1. Pick up some more of the Turtle Eggs you
see in front of you. If you have picked up EVERYTHING I've mentioned so far,
you will upgrade at this point, but it is not necessary.
Here's where a good dash comes in handy, use a light one to skip over the low
area aiming to the left of the Astronaut, and continue following a line of
Turtle Eggs and Gourds to the hill with Haniwas on it. At the very latest, you
should upgrade upon picking up the first Haniwa and having spent about 20
seconds. Try to collect all of the Haniwas (6), but be careful as they make
your Katamari lopsided. Look for any schools of fish nearby. Angelfish and
Clownfish still make good additions, but you should try to get some Snappers or
Blowfish. Don't stress on it, this is only to make sure you have enough size
in the back arc to pick up everything but Spider Crabs.
Use a light dash up the hill to the right where the Haniwas used to be (you
will pass the Treasure Chest and pick up a Ring Box), but don't Dash too hard
or you may lose control. For this next part, you will be rolling through the
arc at the back side of the pond. You will be able to pick up Crabs and medium
(maybe large) fish in addition to whatever else I tell you.
Roll through the India Inks (you don't really need to collect any) and continue
on through the Paint Cans. You will see a group of Snorkels in the distance
will get you within a few centimeters of the goal, but here's where your luck
plays a part. There is a goodly number of Spider Crabs around and a bump from
one of them is enough to waste a few seconds and make you lose the goal.
Alternatively, the first time I won the Super-Clear on this level was when one
bumped me into an item I needed, so good luck. At any rate, the Snorkels are
imperative to pick up so Dash at them and try to avoid those meddlesome Spider
Crabs.
Keep rolling along this arc, you will be able to pick up Crabs (Try to hit the
Horseshoe Crabs) and Nautili which will get you the goal right about the time
you reach the Seaweed and Turtle Eggs at the end. Good luck!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These animals are listed in this way for reasons that become more apparent if
you read the guide. Basically, anything listed as "Immediate" you can pick up
as soon as you enter the area or shortly thereafter. Anything else is too
large to be collected before moving on and must be backtracked to pick up.
Piranhas are listed because only they (and the 2 Tsuchinokos) disappear as you
grow.
The Entrance is the area bounded by the stairs to Monkey Mountain. Monkey
Mountain is the area around the mountain encircled by fences. The swamp is the
area of the swamp bounded by where the green starts for the hill area. In
other words, the Anteaters on the beach are part of the swamp, and even though
it's on the grass of the hill, the beached Pirahna counts for the swamp. The
hill is bounded by the swamp and by fences between it and Monkey Mountain and
the iceberg area. The iceberg area has fences all around it, and the
savanannah is what's left, including the hill with Camels and Lions.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yet another delicious delight for those of you trying to reach 100% on every
level. The Super Clear is astoundingly easy, but the 100% is a pain in the
rear because almost all of your targets will be mobile and have a lot of space
to get lost in. There are only 14 total friends that will disappear as you
grow (2 Tsuchinokos and 12 Piranhas), the rest will be visible (sometimes as
dots) no matter how large you grow.
Now, I gave you totals, but you won't be using them, as a lot of the time you
will be backtracking for things too large for you when you first reach an area.
As such, for the first few areas, you don't have to be meticulous about
collecting all the available friends; in fact it's much better not to be.
You'll waste too much time otherwise.
Dash when you start off, collecting whatever's in a line in front of you.
Start collecting Cats and Turtles/Lizards, make absolutely sure you grab the
Tsuchinoko in the bushes off to the left of the gates (as you look at them).
You can get the 4 Moles now as they get really hard to see later on, but they
never really disappear, they become black dots. Grab the Balloons hanging in
the area until you upgrade. Shortly after, you can pick up the Deer.
At about 20 Friends, climb the stairs to Monkey Mountain. On the right side as
you enter the area, there is the other Tsuchinoko. Make about 2 circuits of
the mountain, the first time picking up all the smaller objects and children.
The second time, pick up the Grandmas and the Turtles they ride on and you
should be able to pick up all the adults and manimals (animal-men). remember,
Manimals are friends too (as are animal statues). The Monkeys and Gorillas can
be left for when you come back for King Kong.
Head into the swamp and pick up the Turtles and you should upgrade. At this
point, you can pick up pretty much everything but the Crocodile and Hippos, but
you will be coming back for them so leaving some is okay. It's a lot easier to
catch the Flamingos and Ibis when you're bigger too. Before you reach the
dock, there are 2 Piranhas and 10 after it, 1 on land. At this point, pause
and make sure you got all 12 of them. Also, the Anteaters on the beach and
Ducks in the pipes count in the swamp area, so DO NOT count them in the next
part if you collect them.
Make a note of how many friends you have (it should be slightly over 100)
because, in the section that spans the hill, from the fence with Monkey
Mountain to the fence with the iceberg area and up to the swamp where the grass
ends (so the beach does not count) you will be collecting 34 Friends. You may
have to build some size for the 2 Bears, but that's it. Don't forget the Sheep
on top of the barrels near the top of the hill. Watch out for red exclamation
points, because the trees will hide some smaller friends.
When you've cleaned that area, move on to the iceberg area. Most the 45
Friends here are in the open, but the is one Seal near the stands that pops up
and down and 2 Dolphins jumping through hoops. Make sure you get all the
Otters and Penguins off the middle iceberg.
The final area before we start cleaning up the level is the savannah area. You
should be able to pick up everything here except the 2 Elephants. Roll over
the center hill real quick to get all of the Bamboo out of the way then pick up
some more friends before coming back for the Pandas to even out your Katamari.
There is a herd of Zebra and one of Ostriches circling here. Everything else
is out in the open.
Roll over the hill with the Camels and through the signs to get back to the
entrance. Clean it up (don't forget the 4 statues). You may have trouble
spotting any smaller animals you missed, but they stand out pretty well against
the ground. Except moles who look like black specks.
Clean up Monkey Mountain now, press yourself against the base to pick up any
Monkeys close to it. Also there are 3 on an upper ledge along with some
Gorillas higher up. Climb the Ladders to get King Kong. Clean up the swamp
now, remember you have to dash to get birds that fly away. That should just
leave the 2 Elephants in the savannah.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
On the behalf of the Lollipop Guild, I wish to welcome you to the hardest
challenge in We Love Katamari.
The problem is not finding friends, neither is it that those friends are
mobile. The problem is the sheer psychological pressure of a 50 second time
limit. You'll find yourself just messing up out of nerves. And you don't
really have the time to mess up.
That being said, this guide is the best possible route I have found to perform
this task. It may not be the best, but it will get you about 45 seconds with
no luck involved. Meaning you rely on your skill. What skill? Dashing of
course.
The place to start off is the swamp. The top of the hill always seemed
promising, but never really panned out for me. It doesn't offer enough in the
way of Katamari growth that my first maneuver in the swamp will give you. And
you need that size for some of the heftier friends.
Unfortunately, you will be starting over quite a bit, and that means having to
retry until you start in the swamp. To start off with, Dash at the Potty with 3
Ducklings in it and the Duck. Carry the dash through the reeds near the left
shore to get the Cranes before they fly away. Keep dashing and you will end up
on the dock, catching Flamingos. Curve with the dock to get as many as
possible; a good haul will leave you with 80-85 friends left. This is a tricky
maneuver, but since it's right at the beginning and the only tricky part, you
should get good at it fast.
When you reach the shore, pass over the Crocodiles in the pipes and a Matador,
Cow and 4 Calves should be passing you. Grab the Calves, then the nearby group
of Deer. Follow this with the line of Sheep and people on the shore of the
swamp. The Sheep and people have extra Spider Crabs and Monkeys on them,
sweetening the deal.
Quick Turn and you will see two trees off to the right, one with bunnies around
it and the other with Spider Crabs. Dash through the bunnies heedlessly and
then hit the tree with the Crabs to knock out 5 Monkeys. Grab a handful and
look for a group of Sheep laying down nearby. Grab those four and head for the
top of the hill.
Under the right pavilion (as you're approaching the top) are 4 cats. Grab them
and a couple chickens then roll down the path, collecting all the Koalas
spinning on the Brooms, the Dogs and any of the Pigs/Sheep in the bushes that
are nearby. At the bottom of the path is a group of about 5 more Sheep.
You should have less than 15 friends left as you enter the swamp and 10-15
seconds. Focus on the vast amount of Monkeys hanging around the trees,
especially the 3 groups of 3 hanging on the Hammocks. There are 5
Peacocks/Turtles nearby if you still need numbers.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to the Excited Baby, you will be rolling around the zoo.
The Super-Clear in this level is actually not that difficult to obtain. Just
tedious. Since you have no time limit, your main concern is maneuvering. I,
myself, am only mediocre at this task so there's hope for anyone.
There are several things to keep in mind when playing this level:
1. Small, moving objects are your enemy. Steer clear of them when possible and
use extreme caution when you must tread near them.
2. Don't forget that you can pick up almost all scenery in this game, be
careful around railings, logs, lotus leafs, etc.
3. Large, spherical objects give you the best boost to your size while flat and
oblong objects are not worth the wasted space.
4. If you are making an object rock when you touch it, you are very close to
picking it up, remember it for the near future. If a moving object runs from
you, you can knock it over then pick it up. This gives you a better boost than
picking it up, but can be tricky not to send it flying into a batch of small
objects. Look to where the object will fly before you hit it.
5. To start off, anything that gives you a boost of 7-10cm is a good object to
collect, but past 5m, 5cm is a good boost for an object.
Okay, your goal for this level will be to pick up one of the Oxen that are on
the grassy hill beside the swamp. The size to roll up one is 5m49cm1mm so you
know you'll break the Super-Clear by picking up one.
There are two starting spots, one on top of a giant watermelon in the arctic
zone, and one by four Peacocks and a Black Bear. The second is preferable,
since the Peacocks and Bear make for an excellent starting boost. Collect
them, and the Black Bear on the other side of the mountain. The 2 Lion Dances
and Flower Beds around the mountain work, but I find the space better used on
other things.
From here, roll over to the savannah area and pick up the Lion and Pig Ride
together, you should be just big enough for both, but you can come back.
Around here, be careful of the objects that path around the center hill. There
are a lot of them, and things could get ugly. Collect the 2 Camels and 2
Rhinoceri (one is chasing Kangaroos) in this area along with the Horses, 2 Pig
Rides and Lion in front of the carriage. You should now be able to pick up the
Big Bear and the Ball he's pushing along with the other one near where you
entered the savannah. There's another Big Bear, but he's balanced on top of
smaller objects you don't want to collect.
By now, you should be close to or over 5m with more than 20 items left. You'll
find now that avoiding the small objects is a lot harder. A few mistakes are
okay, but any major screw-ups now will probably destroy your work.
From here, it's best to go after the Horses that lead a pack of sheep around
the level and the Pegasus that just sits on the mountain you started by. You
are running out of easy things to collect. The Lion Statue in the park area is
good, and there's a relatively easy Alligator that's is on the land in the
swamp area. The 2 Swan Rides in the arctic area can be rolled up at 5m26cm3mm
and both of them should make you able to pick up the Oxen, if you're careful.
Mainly, experiment with the guidelines I set forth, be patient, and you can get
this one without a problem.

Talk to the Camper Boy, you will be rolling around the campgrounds.
The Campfire Super-Clears are all relatively easy and all very similar so I
will give you more of a general guideline for doing them than a step-by-step
walkthrough. First, a few things to remember:
1. If you go too long without picking anything up, your Katamari will go out.
Keep picking up nearby objects, no matter how small.
2. Water will instantly put out your Katamari. Be careful behind the waterfall
and when picking up logs from the bridges (important on the Large campfire).
3. You cannot pick people up, but bumping into them will make them run away and
get them out of your way.
I don't have much to say about these levels except use the usual Katamari
building techniques (except in regards to people). Time is plentiful to get to
the size you need in all three stages. There are plenty of items to keep you
going and build you up. Just play a few times to get a feel for where things
are.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to the Rain Coat Girl, you will be rolling around the sky.
The first thing you'll notice about this level is the horrible camera angle
they start you off with. While the camera gets better as you increase in size,
things don't really get easier as far as collecting goes. It actually seems to
be harder to collect clouds, especially the small ones, as you get to the
larger sizes.
To start off with, your choices in collecting aren't great, basically just
Sheep Clouds and the smaller varieties of White Clouds and Rain Clouds. I
found the best way to handle this is to dash through the large cloud banks in
oblong circles. There are enough hidden in there to get you to your first
upgrade; which is thankfully very early. There are also a few visible pockets
of small clouds and some rotating circles, but the difficult maneuvering and
wait time make them nearly worthless.
Soon after your first upgrade, you'll find yourself picking up medium-sized
clouds, which is great because the cloud banks are made mostly of these. You
should start growing at a mad pace. Keep dashing in large circles, keeping
yourself within the cloud banks. At about 350 Clouds start getting meticulous.
You should have over 3 minutes left.
This is a style issue here, you can either follow the outside edge of the
clouds in a large circle or move through in a line, jump over your Katamari and
return (like in Sweets Meadow). Neither works better than the other, it seems
both ways somehow miss clouds that you roll directly over. Plan your route far
in advance, and keep an eye on your total to make sure when you roll up a
cloud. This may be the only level where moving backwards for any length of
time is viable.
Around 450+ Clouds, you'll start running into a dilemma. Finding the smaller
clouds you missed becomes very hard. Keep a sharp eye out and remember that
the lines airplanes leave behind count as clouds. Try to roll up the Giant
Rainbows towards the end, there are several clouds hiding in there that are
difficult to get when you're too small to roll up the rainbows.
Sometimes you'll end up with 1 or 2 Clouds left and unable to find the
offending ones. That's the way this game works, you only need 475 Clouds for
the Super-Clear, but those of you after the 100% may be frustrated your first
few times through.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to the Cowbear Farmer, you will rolling around the racetrack.
Welcome to a world of frustration. You will fail many times based on the
simple fact that you won't know what constitutes a bear or a cow. Even Pylons
and Umbrellas with a cow pattern on them are considered cows. Watch out for
statues and milk cartons too; they become a big problem when you're bigger
since you will have a harder time seeing them.
The best place to start out is with the Shopping Carts behind you, follow them
to the left (from your view when you start), rolling up the Bales of Rice,
Propane Tanks and Safes as you go. Clean up all the people and other items you
can in the stands you come to then everything in the area just beyond them. I
mean everything, the goal here is to get as large as possible before crossing
the racetrack. Get all the Bushes and the Farmer, collect the Topiaries,
Statues and everything you can in the second set of stands. Make sure you get
the Bushes and Logs off to the right side of the stands (as you look at the
racetrack).
Go up to the hilltop stable and pick up the Bushes, Coffins and the Arches
along the ridge under the hilltop. Go back to the area after the first stands,
grab the fence and Watermelons by the truck (careful not to touch the Bear
Statues) and head down to the river, being careful of the bear in a box on one
side of it. Pick up the Anemonites and Reeds, by now you should be about
4m50cm large and able to pick up the Falling Rocks on top of the hill right
next to you. Do so, but watch out because there is a bear on top of the stack.
Cross the river and get the trees on the hill full of sheep, but don't touch
the Cute Cow in the middle. Finally, cross the racetrack, looking to the left
to make sure nothing cow related is coming. Pick up the Pegasuses(i?) here
(not the Cow with wings), then fall into the water to get the Breakwater
Blocks. Make your way to the right (as you enter the water) watching out for
swimming bears, you will come to a lot of Sharks, Dolphins and Giant
Watermelons. These should put you at 6m50cm or so.
Keep on in the direction you were going until you come to a big ship, pass by
it and climb up onto the dock at its stern. Hang around by the pit area for a
little bit, the idea here is to get the Kintaro-Bears that flank the Cowbear to
run away from you a few times then back off. Effectively separating the
Cowbear from his protection.
When you have done this, pick up the Lockers, Watermelons and Booths (watch out
for the Cow-Men behind) and the Racecars. If you haven't reached 7m8cm8mm yet
get the Port-o-Johns by the ship and climb up on it for 3 more and some Kelp
Beds. Don't go too far past the mark though, or else you're liable to pick up
a cow or bear you don't want while going after the Cowbear.
Head back to the pit area and watch for the Cowbear to come around again. If
the Kintaro-Bears come around first, back off and let them pass. Wait by the
corner of the building, facing against the traffic, but don't touch the Cow
Pylons that should be just behind you. When the Cowbear comes around, lightly
dash into him before he runs away to knock him over. Quickly go after him when
he flies away (hopefully not too far) and collect him while watching out for
any other cows or bears in the road.

Talk to the Crane Hat Boy, you will be rolling around the schoolhouse.
The rooms are well defined and the bathroom and the hallway are divided where
the floorboards meet the tiles. The Cranes on the floor outside the bathroom
and those in the tree are still part of the hallway.
You have to be careful when using these totals because sometimes a Big Crane
will chase you down through the wall from the starting room to the second room,
throwing off the totals for each room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cranes is of middling difficulty, considering some of the other challenges the
game throws your way. It still tends towards the more difficult end, though.
You need 100% of the cranes for the Super-Clear, though, which makes it
annoying. The best way to get a feel for where all the cranes are is to play
the level a few times yourself. Remember that a lot of cranes come in clumps
and some others in packs of 50.
You'll start on top of the desks, start by collecting all of the cranes on top
of the desks, then down the display stand. Collect the group in front of the
stand then leave the center of the desks and turn right. Keep an eye out for a
chicken with a crane in its beak, as he will disappear if you try to come back
later. Collect the group of cranes in the right corner then follow wall to
another group close to the front of the class and another at the very front.
There is one more group just to the right of the door as you look at it from
the front of the class. Before you leave this room, you should have 150
Cranes. There are another 2 cranes in here, but they are too big to pick up
now and are flying around anyways.
Out in the hallway, pick up the group of cranes on the floor right outside the
door then those flying around the girls to the right as you left the door. The
best way to do this is to stay in the middle where the two circles cross, but
it is faster to roll in the direction opposite to the one they're flying in.
The girls have 3 packs of 50 in their hands, and one has a big crane you
probably won't be able to get yet.
Continue down the hallway, picking up the ball of cranes and those you can
reach by the fishing pole. The best way to get the cranes off of the real one
roaming around is to get to a good size then bash into his front. You'll be
knocked back a bit, but should be able to go straight through him afterwards,
collecting all the cranes on him. Roll along the balancing beam then go head
for the bathrooms on your left. There are a couple cranes hidden in the bush
outside the door. Collect the cranes on the floor of the bathroom, including
those on the balls by the stalls. There are also 2 birds carrying around a
pack of 50.
Head into the office directly opposite the bathrooms and pick up all the cranes
on the floor, following the wall around to the left. There are some hovering
on the stage behind the real cranes and a a circle flying fast around the
principal's bust in the center of the room. Also, the largest crane is resting
on some pillows in the back of the room. Pick him up last because he makes it
hard to get at the ones on the floor when he's in your Katamari.
Head into the center classroom, picking up any cranes you left in the hall
between the last 2 rooms. There are a few groups of cranes on the floor, a few
big cranes flying around the room, and 2 big cranes attached to a parasol near
the front of the room.
Head back to the first room, picking up any more cranes you left in the hall
between (remember the one in the girl's hand and the one on the pillows across
the hall from the second door). Find the last 2 big cranes flying around, they
should either be your last or very close to it. Go back into the hall to find
any you may have missed. You may find yourself with a few leftover, but
there's none that are really hidden in any way. The only one you could
potentially miss is the one in the chicken's beak in the first room; he either
disappears or runs away when you get too big.

Talk to the Nerd Boy, you will be rolling in the campgrounds at night.
You will find yourself pretty much dashing through this entire level. I hope
you're good at keeping your dashes under control. The biggest nuisances here
are those groups of fireflies who get it into their head to fly away as you
draw near. You will pretty much have to dash directly into the center of these
groups because waiting for them to land again is out of the question.
There are a lot of open spaces simply filled with fireflies that move around
very slightly or not at all, try dashing straight through any clumps of
fireflies you see, quick turning then dashing for another bunch. Work your way
around the level from where you start by first dashing around the field at the
bottom of the hill. Follow that by rolling around the waterfall basin and
dashing up and down the tunnel (Marny should be hanging around here if you have
him), being careful not to fall off the edge.
Shortly after you pass the Dim level, fall off that ledge and grab the
fireflies in this part of the river. Work on the left (as you exit the tunnel)
bank first, then the area off the right bank. There's a good sized clump
running away from a Panda in the middle and the car headlights are fireflies
too.
Roll up the hill and get the fireflies on top of the mobile home. Further up
the hill, there's a lot of fireflies circling around some lovers. And on top
of the hill, there's a giant load of fireflies circling around Dipp. And a
couple more flying around the fight taking place off to the side.
You should now be well within the Bright category. Down the hill, near where
you started, there are a lot of fireflies circling a small tower, and there
should be a skydiver low to the ground with a good-sized group following him
around. Keep collecting firfelies until you're well into the Very Bright or
even Dazzling rank, which you should hit with about a minute left. Any more
you collect are just for bragging rights.
If you have less than a minute left and still not Dazzling, go to the area
where you started and collect the fireflies there (I haven't told you to touch
them yet). This ensures that if you hit Dazzling with only a few seconds left,
you can still find and collect the fan. Which you need to do to finish the
level.

Talk to the Just-right girl, you will be rolling around the world at varying
sizes.
I'm not going to write a guide for getting a Super-Clear on any of the Saturn
levels for one simple reason. There is a very easy to follow and concise
guide at GameFAQs written by BobFungus that will let you easily get the exact
amounts needed for all three level. This guide can be found at:

Talk to the Fund-raiser, you will be rolling around the town. Everything in
this level has a monetary value (except living things).
This level isn't so hard as you might think. The trick is knowing what to go
for while collecting items that increase your size along the way. Keep in mind
that living things are worth diddly squat, but add to your size. Your final
goal should be the Treasure Chest in the back corner, and anything more is just
extra icing on the cake.
Ignore the King and turn around where you start, while he's still talking, bump
into the left tree near the wall to knock loose 3 Big Coins ($3000 each) and a
Diver. This would be a good time to point out that if you crash and things
fall off your Katamari, you will lose the money for it. Pick up the coins and
head for the bridge, picking up items for size as you cross it. Roll through
the Noodle Cups and turn left into the yard. The Kokeshi give you a good
amount of size and there are a few groups of them.
Head to the right from this yard (from your viewpoint while rolling into it)
and knock into the tree in the very back corner of the level. A Treasure Chest
will fall out, but will be too big for you now (it's your final objective).
Knock into the chest and 5 more coins will spill out ($3000 each again). Turn
around and follow the wall into a garden with radishes buried as well as a
crown ($8000) you need to be 80cm to unearth.
Drop down into the area with the Rose Bunches (you probably won't be able to
pick up) and keep growing in size. go up the stairs and past the pool to the
wedding. Grab the Diamond Ring ($7000) from the Groom. Fall down into the
area with the train tracks and follow them left to the tunnel where an Onyx
($4000) waits then go through the tunnel to warp to the other side.
Move forward and right up the hill to grab an Emerald ($6000) hanging from a
balloon then take to the city streets, keeping on the lookout for a Balance Toy
riding around on a Skateboard with a Ruby ($5000) on its head. There is
another Ruby ($5000) in the middle of the town near a Gorilla. Be careful not
to pick up any of the Cymbal Toys or the Gorilla will chase you down.
Head into the schoolyard to find a flea market. To your right as you enter,
there will be a man sitting near a Champion's Belt ($2500) on a blanket outside
the track and one with a Crown ($8000) right next to him. The one with the
Crown will chase you down after you "borrow" it, though. You may want to hang
around in the market to build size now; you'll need almost 2m before you start
to head for the Treasure Chest again.
On the way back to the Chest, you will pass by a procession near the bridge.
The two in the back are carrying a bunch of Cakes across some laundry poles
with the last Crown ($8000) on top. Grab the poles and the Cakes/Crown as they
fall. Now, go get the Chest. You may need a tiny bit more money to make the
$100,000 (there are 3 Safes ($800 each) nearby), but this method should put
you over if you collected enough while gaining size.

Talk to the Mini-Sumo, you will be rolling around the town.
The Super-Clear goal of any Sumo level is to win by rolling up your chosen
opponent which is accomplished at the given weights. Since all three levels
are extremely similar, varying only by the amount of time you are given and
size of your opponent.
The most obvious detterent is the fact that, until your sumo reaches larger
weights, he is oblong and hard to work with. For the earliest stages of each
level, just keep him rolling. Stopping and changing directions sharply wastes
time, although you should have plenty of time to reach your goal. Roll through
the streets, keeping an eye out for groups and lines of objects. The farm on
top of the hill and the back alley by the school usually have good groupings
and/or lines. Don't bother with anyplace you see food raining down. You don't
pick up anything that lands on you automatically and "catching" these objects
is more trouble than it's worth.
Like any other level, you'll increase in size faster and faster as you get
bigger. Your sumo becomes easier to roll too. When you're close to the right
size or have about a minute left, head for the school. There are tons of
objects in the schoolyard, and it puts you in a strategic spot to collect your
opponent quickly.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to the Fussy Mom, you will be rolling around a child's room.
Some people think this is one of the hardest things to do in the game. It's
really not, but it takes a very specialized route to perform in under a minute.
In fact, there may be only one way to do it, since multiple people have come up
with almost exactly the same route.
First off, some ground rules. You will need to collect EVERYTHING in the path
I've set out for you. I will point out when to ignore something that is out of
the way even though you could pick it up. The reason is, you will reach a
point where you have to pick up a straight train track, and you won't be able
to unless you've picked up almost all the smaller items. Plus, you don't have
time to go back and pick up missed items.
Second, you need to be good at dashing, not an expert. In fact you can come in
under a minute with only 2 or 3 dashes, but the point is you won't make it by
rolling alone. Finally, perform some dry runs to get familiar with the path.
It will still take you many tries to get it right under a minute, but you'll at
least know what you're doing.
Okay, ignore the king and dash straight off the dresser, picking up 16 items as
you go. If you miss any, just start over. While you can pick them up at the
end of your run, you need all of them for size purposes. Don't worry, you'll
get VERY good at this part. While you're falling, press X a few times to get
rid of the King's blather.
Now this is the only part where there is some slight deviation possible. You
will land somewhere between the edge of the dresser and 3 Circular Toy Blocks
straight ahead of you. Head straight for the blocks, picking up the items
directly in your way. From there, get the Compass right in front of you and
quick turn.
Back the way you came, you will see some Red Blocks. Head for those picking up
anything in your way, turn slightly left when you get them and roll through 2
pieces of chalk and follow the line of items back toward the nightstand,
staying on the left side of it. Quick Turn, picking up the 3 Ornaments and
follow the other line back. These two lines are good places to use dashes if
you can do so without missing anything.
Head toward the back, left corner of the room (from your current vantage
point). You may need to deviate from your path slightly to the right to get
the Blue Building Block. Grab the Castanets, and you will get your first and
only upgrade. We're not out of the woods yet. Pick up the Tape, the Gum and
head to your left grabbing the Toy Capsule, Battery and White Building Block.
In this area with several Train Tracks laying around, you need to grab the
Sticky Tape, Nail Clipper and Paper Cutter, then the 2 Triangle Blocks leading
up to the Straight Train Tracks. If you can't pick up the tracks, start over,
you missed something necessary (you should have 29 items or less left before
you get them). Get the 2 items under the bed then quick turn and get the
Orange Juice and Curved Track near the bedpost.
Head Left, getting the White Building Block and 3 Curved Tracks in the corner.
Quick Turn and get the Model Trains and the rest of the tracks, ending up with
the one before the cushion slanting up to the bed. There are 12 items left on
the bed and dresser. Roll up the cushion and get the 6 in a pretty much a
straight line on the bed then roll to the end and up the keyboard to get the
last 6 on the dresser.

Roll up the Sun or "talk" to Michiru Hoshino, you won't be rolling this time
but, rather, trying not to get rolled up.
Now, there's no way to Super-Clear this level, and there's no planet that goes
with it, but you do get the best message at the end if you collect all 70 fans
and cousins without getting hit by the King. This is very easily done; the
King and his Sun/Katamari will follow your vertical movement and occasionally
dash to try and get you. Stay to the right of the screen to begin with, and
when the Sun pulls off the left side (the King crescendoes in his singing),
move out of the way, he's about to do his first dash.
After that, the King will be on the screen. Get him to follow you to the
bottom, then quickly move to the top and pass by him (preferably flying along
the sky). From there, just steer him into all the fans and cousins on the way.
You have to have collected them all to get the best ending.
Watch out when he starts to charge for another dash, lead him to the top edge
of the screen, then quickly move downwards and out of his way. Then wait for
him to come back down to the bottom and pass him by flying along the top again.

Talk to Tomio Hoshino after completing the game, you will be rolling around
Earth.
Welcome to Earth. It's not much, but we like to call it home... for now...
You'll start off near Australia, surrounded by some island nations, so get
those. Island nations are actually your greatest worry here, since they can be
easy to miss and hard to find when you're bigger, so keep an eye out for the
slightly lighter colored dots.
Immediately work your way over India and into the Middle East and Europe, where
you should be able to pick up every country right away. God bless border
disputes. From here, pick up Africa, you should be able to pick it all up,
including Libya, which they thankfully didn't name fully (Great Socialist
People's Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (Qadhafi is a genius)).
Anyways, go on to South America, you may need to pick up some of Central
America before you can get Brazil. You might be able to get all of North
America at this point but if you can't it's not hard to come back for Canada
and the US. Go for East Asia now, cleaning up all but Russia.
You should be able to get Australia and Antarctica now, and you should have
very little left. Hopefully only missing Russia. Do a quick spot check for
any small countries you might have missed. You know you have them all when you
have 195 and a little crown appears next to your total.
If you're running out of time, an alarm will start sounding. Head for the
former site of North America and get the weird meteor. You may even have to
wait for it if you did this fast enough.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to Mutsuo Hoshino after collecting all of the cousins, you will be rolling
around the World of Love.
Cousins Super-Clear is actually kind of trying; finding them all proves simple
enough, but getting all of them (especially Dipp and Ace) in less than 2:30
proves to be a pain. This guide is written when playing as the Prince, but you
might try using one of the larger cousins (like Beyond or Odeko) in order to
get rid of one of the harder to pick up cousins in the level.
There are several places to start out, but the best one for me was where you
start out looking at Marcy and Huey trying to pull Twinkle out of the wall.
Ignore the King and grab Huey(1) and Marcy(2) (you can't pick up Twinkle yet).
Immediately turn right and grab Ichigo(3) and Daisy(4) by the Cute Cow.
L'Amour(5) and Honey(6) are also walking around this mushroom hut so grab them
(you'll have to knock Honey over first).
Go around the mushroom hut and knock over Shy(7) on the other side to grab him.
Peso(8) and Velvet(9) are flying around in the same area. Colombo(10) should
be close by on the back of a bear cub, and Lalala(11) is sunning herself close
to where the hill drops off in front of you. Keep an eye out for Macho(12) and
Opeo(13) who are traveling with a boar and should be nearby. Grab Signolo(14)
off the stump and Nutsuo(15) from behind the nearby tree.
Grab Miso(16), Can-Can(17), Nickel(18) and Foomin(19) who are all frolicking
near the wrestling ring and Twinkle(20) who is still stuck in the wall a little
further up. Climb in the ring and grab Lucha(21), Kuro(22) and Drooby(23)
(you'll have to knock her over). Head down the hill to the left and get
Miki(24) and Johnson(25) who is stuck in a tree. Slip(26) is hiding in the
grass on the left a little further down and Fujio(27) is just behind him. Keep
a lookout for Beyond (Beyond is too big right now)and Havana(28) as they follow
this path around the lake.
Ignore Odeko in the sunflowers for a second and grab Jungle(29) who should be
near the tree Ace(30) and Dipp(31) play around (these 2 are a pain in the butt
as they constantly try to stay just out of your reach; try dashing at the tree
or pressing yourself close to it to give them no place to run). Quickly go
back and get Beyond(32) and Odeko(33).
Take a plunge into the lake, Shikao(34) should be standing nearby. June(35) is
flying around the middle on an umbrella and Odeon(36) is chasing a Happy Flower
around the edge. Marny(37) is swimming by the tree. Kinoko(38) is lounging
with the mushrooms by the cave and Nik(39) is inside the cave.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Talk to the Rose after clearing every level, including cousins, you will be
rolling in the Ice Rink, Racetrack or Town. The spot is chosen at random when
you start the level.
Hello, and welcome to Hell. As retribution for your sins, you will be
constantly pushing a Katamari for all eternity. Oh, and while you're at it,
would you mind cleaning up all these Roses? David Copperfield wouldn't stop
pulling them out of the air. Enjoy your stay.
Seriously, this is not the hardest, but clearly the most tedious task in the
game. The only reason to take on this mad task is if you are a completist
(like me) or have too much time on your hand (like my unemployed brother).
Either way, you are in for a long time of rolling, but I can give you a few
tips and a strategy that will let you finish in 10-12 hours of play time.
On a side note, I will not provide you a method of "rubber banding" through
this challenge. You can get that information elsewhere, and I wouldn't try it
myself. My launch day PS2 is on its last legs already.
Okay, the most important part is the level you collect in. Ice Rink, Ice Rink,
Ice Rink. Did I mention Ice Rink? Keep talking to the Rose Fan until the king
sets you down in the Ice Rink (it's random). Not only is it nice and circular,
it offers the best lines of travel for hitting Rose Bunches. And all the
traffic flows one way, cutting down on collisions.
Start by getting rid of the King's nonsense (Start), and dashing straight off
the mound in the middle. Rolling in the deep snow is counterproductive as your
speed is extremely limited and there aren't enough Bunches to warrant it. At
any rate, dash off, grabbing the 3 or 4 bunches directly in front of you, bear
right to follow traffic and start searching out what I like to call "Lines".
It's not as complicated as it sounds. A "Line" is basically a loose line of
Rose Bunches, that's it. As it happens, there's a very good one toward the
outer edge immediately out from where you start. From there, keep dashing
searching out these lines (the first couple times through you may want to plan
out your routes so you know what to do). Remember, you are steering against a
frictionless surface and, as such, should probably be turning almost the entire
time unless following a line.
Now here's the key to doing this without taking forever, when you pause the
game and retry the level (Circle), the Roses you just collected will stay with
you, accumulating until you choose to stop rolling (Square while unpaused).
Therefore, you can stay in the Ice Rink indefinitely, Retrying the level to
force all the Bunches to respawn.
Each time you run through, you should make about 3 to 4 circuits around the
rink, collecting somewhere between 750-1000 roses at a time. Any less and you
waste a lot of time reloading the level, any more and you will see a serious
drop-off in collection rate. I usually shot for about 900 on a good run.
Here's the second most important piece of advice I can give on this endeavor,
whenever you crash into ANYTHING, immediately pause and Retry the level. It's
a lot faster than getting back up to speed, and respawns all the Roses as an
added bonus. Also, if you get tired from dashing (the Prince will start
"Huff"ing), you should more than likely restart as well, although sometimes
it's still okay to continue on. It's really a judgement call.
Even if you're not good at this to start off (maybe you suck at dashing), trust
me, you have lots of time to improve. Soon, you'll be rushing around the Ice
Rink in a pattern you've developed for yourself, collecting a good 800-900
roses every 30-45 seconds. I usually averaged 85-100,000 Roses an hour
depending if I was alert or comatose over the four day period I did it. It
took me just over 12 play hours to do, and that includes time spent working out
my method and trying to get the Ice Rink level to appear.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01. Do you get anything special for achieving all of the Super-Clears?
Besides praise from The King of all Cosmos after every level, no.
Your Cosmos will be really shiny, though.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
02. What would a perfect game of We Love Katamari be?
Well, if you're talking about finishing everything, it would be, in
my opinion:
All Super Clears
1,000,000 Roses
All Items Collected
All Presents Collected
70 Score in the credits level
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
03. I've done everything, what else is there to do?
You could help me out by submitting your own method to a level or a
variation on what I already have. Look in the Submissions section
for that. Also, vix runs the Ultimate We Love Katamari Scoreboard on
her site:
http://s9.invisionfree.com/Katamari_Damacy
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
04. One of your walkthroughs looks like some of the others, what's with that?
I assure you that I wrote this entire guide using the methods I came
up with as I was playing, except for Saturn. Remember that sometimes
the path that you should use is very clear, and sometimes there's
only one way to pull off a Super-Clear in a level. It's natural that
different players may come up with the same strategy.

If you have anything you wish to add to the guide, I would be happy to consider
it for entry. Try to follow some basic guidelines though:
1. If you submit a full walkthrough for a level, make sure it is different
enough from the one(s) I already have that it will benefit anybody who
reads this guide to try your path instead of the other(s).
2. If you submit a variation, make sure it either makes the level easier
when you use it or at least doable by the average player. Don't send
anybody on a wild goose chase.
3. Try to use correct spelling and grammar. I reserve the right to clean
up anything you send me before putting it in. This goes for language
as well. I swear like a sailor in reality, but there's a time and a
place for it.
Also, if you find any glaring errors, let me know. I've done a lot of typing
and I probably messed up somewhere. All credit will be given where it is due.
Simply title anything you send "WLK Walkthrough" or something similar in order
for me not to ignore it. Send it to:
