ABOUT THIS GUIDE
I decided to write this guide in order to make it easier for everyone to
collect all of the items available. Initially this was just a translation of
a guide found on a number of Japanese web sites (I primarily used the one
here,
http://homepage3.nifty.com/taka-san/vf4/index4.html,) but after it was
discovered that many of the methods listed were incorrect it has also come to
include corrections, the vast majority of which were found or deciphered from
the people of the GameFaqs VF 4 message board. Also, many of the proper
English item names were derived from a post on GameFaqs made by strychnine.

I. Common Terms and General Explanation
Use Vs. Mode:
The vast majority of items are obtainable not only in Kumite mode but also in
Vs. Mode. This is useful for certain conditions which you may find difficult
to achieve while fighting in Kumite mode. A quick example of this is in
obtaining an item which requires for your character to get struck by Sarah's
Gattling kick and still win the match. While in Vs. Mode you need only
perform the Gattling kick yourself using the 2P controller and then proceed
to use your 1P character to win the match. You will then have gained your
item.
BA Item:
BA Item stands for Battle Arena Item. It means that this item is only
available in Kumite mode and is gained by defeating an opponent who possesses
it.
Vision Sphere Item:
These items are gained by collecting seven different colored spheres from
High King rank opponents. When you collect all seven you will gain your
Vision Sphere Item. A few characters have multiple Vision Sphere Items.
When there is more than one Vision Sphere Items, the ones which you are able
to gain after the first are referred to as "Secondary Vision Sphere Item."

1. AKIRA

Wild Hair: Battle Arena Item.
Mr. Rabbit (Disgrace Item): Lose two or more times successively.
Mr. Squirrel (Disgrace Item): Get hit by your opponents evade attack.
Head Gear (White): Use Guard.
Head Gear (Red): Gained by using attacks.
Long Wild Hair: Vision Sphere Item.

Goggle Sunglasses: Use a lot of evade attacks.
Blue Sunglasses: With the Goggle Sunglasses equipped, use a lot of throw
evades.
Black Sunglasses: With the 100 straight win item equipped, use a lot of
evade attacks.
Chain Earring: Use the same Pcolor, i.e. P1 color or P2 color successively.

Blue Bandana: Battle Arena Item.

Big Bear: Against Kage use air combos.
Little Bear: With the 100 straight win item equipped win 20 consecutive
matches.
Yuki Dojo Sign: 100 straight win item.
Lucky Charm: Use guard frequently.
Prosperity Charm: With the Lucky Charm equipped use guard frequently.
Demon Emblem: For 1 tournament achieve at least two excellent victories
while using the SPOD frequently for all of the rounds.
Sanskrit Emblem: Battle Arena Item
Dragon Emblem: Win several victories using counters.
Fire Emblem: Win with all excellent victories.
Conqueror Emblem: Achieve the rank of conqueror.

Arm Brace: Five successive wins.
Spiked Arm Brace: Battle Arena Item.
Leather Brace: With the Arm Brace equipped frequently use the
toward,away,P+G,P+K attack to achieve 20 consecutive victories.
Double Brace: Using (a move I don't know how to pronounce) achieve 8r
consecutive victories.
Impala Tattoo: With the 100 straight win item equipped fight against Akira
and achieve excellent victories for all of the rounds.
Sun Tattoo: With the 100 straight win item equipped defend yourself seven
times. (?)

Japanese Ponytail: BA Item.
Japanese Ponytail (Gold): 4 or 6 successive wins.
Japanese Ponytail (Silver):
Semi-long (Blonde): Against Sarah get hit by her Gattling Kick and then win.
Semi-long (Silver): With the hair set to default win 10 successive
victories.
Short Hair: With the 100 straight win item equipped achieve victory.
Short Hair (Gold): With the Short Hair equipped break 5 or more walls.
Short Hair (Silver): With the Short Hair equipped break a large amount of
the floor.
Kabuki Hair (Silver): Vision Sphere Item.
Kabuki Hair (Crimson): With the Kabuki Hair (Silver) equipped achieve
excellent victories for all of the rounds.
Kabuki Hair (Indigo): With the Kabuki Hair (Silver) equipped achieve ring
out victories for all of the rounds.
Kabuki Hair (Young Grass): With the Kabuki Hair (Silver) equipped use the
(u+K+G) attack frequently.
Kabuki Hair (Gold): With the Kabuki Hair (Silver) equipped win all of the
rounds using side throws.
Nun Hood (White): 100 straight or connected? (derivations??) Win many
victories with staggers.
Nun Hood (Purple): With the Nun Hood (White) equipped achieve 5 successive
victories.
Nun Hood (Crimson): With the Nun Hood (White) equipped win 2 tournaments
(matches?) against Vanessa. Use the (u+K+G) frequently.

Arabesque Skirt: Achieve 7th Kyu ranking.

Lotus Skirt: Achieve a ring out victory with your opponent at full health.
Dragon Skirt: Use a large number of counters.
Butterfly Skirt: Within 1 round use a knockdown attack a minimum of 4 times.
Flowing Wave Skirt: Appears when you gain a rank.
Blooming Grass Skirt: Appears with successive defeats.
White Flower Skirt: With the Blossom Earring equipped use evade attacks
frequently.
Jade Beads: Achieve excellent victories for 3 rounds.
White Necklace: Appears at the time of rank advancement or through frequent
use of the upper tier?
Golden Necklace: With the White Necklace equipped achieve 5 successive wins.

Sarah and get hit by her Gattling kick and then win.

achieving victory.

acquired during my 100 straight win run in vs. mode.)
Gas mask: For 8 continuous rounds, facing away from your opponent use the
P+K attack.
Bandit Mask: Won by using throw evade
Pink Tuft Earring: Receive primarily throws.
Crystal Earring: With the Pink Tuft Earring equipped, destroy a large amount
of the floor.
Gold Circlet: Win with all perfect rounds.
Sapphire Circlet: With Gold Circlet equipped, all perfect rounds.
-Neck-
Binoculars: BA Item
Medal Necklace: 10 wins in a row.
Leather Choker: In the first round attack more than 30 times and then guard
until you get a time up victory.
Triple Gold Choker: ???
Dog Tags: Wearing the Black Beret perform mostly throws.
-Arm-
Butterfly Tattoo: BA Item
Arabesque Tattoo: Perform mostly counters.
Rose Tattoo: Against Sarah, have her attack you with her Gattling kick and
then win.
Dragon Tattoo: With the Rose tattoo equipped you have to let Lau use a wall
combo on you and still win.
Eagle Tattoo: With the Black Beret equipped guard a lot.
-Weapons-
Rifle: BA Item.
Bazooka: With the Black Beret equipped win twenty matches in a row.
Grenades: Use a lot of evade attacks.
Bowgun: Destroy most of the walls on a breakable wall stage.
Walkie Talkie: Defeat your opponent within 10 seconds.

Fire Tiger Mask: 100 straight win item.
Purple Sunglasses: 5 successive wins, in which you use a lot of counters. (I
think it means that the decisive factor in the 5 wins is the amount of
counters.)
Silver Sunglasses: While wearing the purple sunglasses win a round using
primarily counters.
Goggle Sunglasses: 10 successive wins.
Slim Sunglasses:
Black/Dark Red Mask: Secondary Vision Sphere item.
Long Hair: 100 straight win item.
Tribal Headdress: Secondary Vision Sphere Item.
Wolf Hat: Secondary Vision Sphere Item.
-Wrist-
Wrist Bandage: BA Item.
Full Bandage: While wearing the 100 straight win item guard against your
opponents attack.
Wrist Band: Use one body frequently. (I think it means either use 1p color
or 2p color frequently, someone please confirm.)
Workout Gloves: With the Wrist Band equipped use one body frequently.
-Neck-
Workout Towel: BA Item.
Green Necklace: Using the 1p color, use the "single departure" P to win.
-Arm-
Wolfhead Tattoo: BA Item.
Ruby Double Brace: With the 100 straight win item equipped achieve victory
for all of the rounds by ring out.
Tribal Tattoo: With the Black Tattoo equipped use the Level Back Chop at
maximum charge level. (not sure on this)
Tribal Tattoo 2: With Black Tattoo 2 equipped achieve ten successive
victories.
Black Tattoo: Achieve excellent victories for all of the rounds.
Black Tattoo 2: With the Tribal Tattoo equipped win all of the rounds by
ring out.
Snake Brace: Use throw evade.
Spike Brace: Against Sarah get hit by her Gattling kick and still win.
Clerk's Armband:
Double Brace: ?
Face Painting: 20 successive wins.
Ring Bracelet: It appears after either 1 victory or 1 loss.

III. Credits
Well I really didn't do all that much to be honest, I just translated the
Japanese, tested some stuff out myself and put in changes that are still
being discovered on the GameFaqs VF 4 message board. That being said I would
