My first draft for the FAQ. Inside is all the information you
need about weapons and melee moves in this game. Also I will give
a simple introduction to each weapon. (16/10/2003)

1) Introduction:
================
U.SAGA... A wonderful game, with breathtaking music and mind twisting
adventure, element's you don't find in RPG's these day's. Of course,
if you ask me, the best thing in this game is BATTLE (well you'll have
to love it anyway, since you will spend half the time fighting
monsters).
But to really enjoy it, you'll have to learn everything you can about
weapon and melee techs. That's were my FAQ will come in hand.

2) Basic information on weapon and melee attacks:
=================================================
There are some things I think you should know before going any
further:
I)
====
Remember that there are light skills and heavy skills for
each weapon and melee move, and since Lead is the heaviest material
in this game, most of the powerful skills are found in Lead weapons.
So then let's say you want a strong skill(for example, Dice)for your
black knife, what are you going to do? Either you:
A)
---
Stuff your weapon with Lead or any heavy material until you
get the skill you want or:
B)
---
Change your weapon to another one and forge it back again,(you didn't
understand, did you?) O.K lets take an example (you have a black sword
and you
want it to have Rearblade, forge it to a black knife and change it back
to a
sword). It may not work the first time, so keep trying until you get
it.
II)
====
Melee attacks don't consume any durability, so use that for your
advantage.
Weapon skills do, depending on what move you choose to perform. Most
attacks
cost only one but moves like (Random Shot, Multi Poke) cost two. Don't
forget, casting spells using weapons costs one durability.

Character weight is very important, why? Well for one thing light
characters
can't rescue heavy ones (duh), light characters can perform special
melee lines
(humming bird line, hair drier line) but heavy characters can't(that
doesn't
mean that regular melee moves are weak).And light people perform their
attacks
much faster than heavy ones.

Each bestial stone has a special art within. Here is a list
to make things clear:

Sparking skills depends on lots of things, but the most important are :

Fighting against strong monsters (Giants, Dragons and Spear monsters).

Although dangerous, try to combo against strong monsters.

3) Dagger:

I)

One of the best weapons in this game, It has the best defensive
ability(Parry)
and very strong LP draining attacks, with only one flaw,
its HP damage, the worst in all weapons. Meaning you have to wait until
you have done enough HP damage before you can use it.
LW: lowers ST: strength SK: skill MG: magic EN: endurance
BL: black out S: stun N: numb ATC: attack P: paralyze
DR: darkness SP: spirit Bopeep: bopeep effect

and Puree( Huge LP Damage, maybe the best move in the game).

When dealing with high HP monsters, the Sword is your first option.
With its awesome L.5 attacks,(Deflect),and instant kill move(Bopeep),
the sword is a great offensive and defensive weapon.
The problem is that its sucks when it comes to LP damage.

Best move: Bopeep( Inflicts bopeep effect: it has an 80% chance to
instant kill any non-dead monster. It's got a much higher success rate
then black out).

Balanced HP and LP damage (slightly better at LP damage).
has great skills for both LP and HP damage. Has no defensive skill

you can see, this weapon is NOT used for its damaging skills.
But for its status down effects , Defensive ability( Block), and mass
attack (Earth dragon). Mostly used by mages, It often comes with a
elemental art(if not, you can easily forge one to it).

Second best HP damager(after sword), and does good LP damage. Often
used by heavy characters. This weapon has both LP and HP damaging
moves.But
has no defensive skill and it's very heavy.

8) Gun:

By far the hardest weapon to use. It can't be made and
found only with:Mythe(he has two), Thomas and Michelle. And it's
the most heaviest weapon in the game. Besides that, It does massive
HP and LP damage. Has no defensive ability and has only one skill
(Shoot).
II)
----
As I said, it has one skill( Shoot). When using this skill in
battle you see a reel with four panels:
Red panel: Miss 10% HP damage. Very low accuracy.
Green panel:200 % HP damage.
Blue panel: 300% HP damage. Halved LP.
White panel:400% HP damage. Full LP damage. High accuracy.

Best used by:
Michelle, Thomas, Mythe.

9) Bow & Arrow:

Like the spear, it is balanced , Mostly used for its powerful Mass
attack(Random Shot). It has no defensive skill.

10) Melee Attacks (Introduction):
====================================
I)

Every character can use melee attacks by its three forms
(Punch, Kick and Throw). Although some characters can use one type
better than another(like Kurt with punches). There are two different
Lines for each type,Light line and heavy line (depends on characters
weight). Which is stronger? The light line of course. There are four
moves that you can spark ( punch out, raksha, kick rush, flash flood)
in one condition only, you MUST not have any kick or punch panels.
Punch:
It deals the most HP damage, but not so good when it comes to LP
damage.
Kick:
Not powerful as punch, but it is faster and does more LP
damage.
Throw:
It is weaker than both punch and kick. But has the ability to
inflict Stun.
