II. Introduction

This is my first attempt at doing Laura’s quest and I have thought about what
could be done better than what I did in the Kurt Walkthrough. I plan to do a
Walkthrough for each character in the same fashion as this one to help people
get through the game a lot easier whether they have played the game or are just
starting out. This is also not going to tell you how to organize growth panels,
use the system or anything like that. Those can be found using other FAQ’s or
the message board. There is going to be no information on doing side quests in
this guide since side quests are not necessary in getting to the end of the
game. If you have any comments, questions or you found something that can be
added that is useful to this guide, just E-mail me using the address at the top.

III. Using this Guide
===============================================================================
Through out this guide you will notice crudely drawn maps. The maps aren’t
completely accurate but they do show the direction in which you are supposed to
go. Occasionally the map will have special symbols and those will be explained
in those Sections.

There are others but they don’t appear in all quests, therefore they are only
mentioned when they are needed. One other thing that you may notice on some
maps is a line or box may have a letter in it like A. Normally this means that
if you exit from A or warp from A, you will end up at the other A. Here is an
example of that below:

This means that if you started at square number 1 you would need the Locksmith
skill to get to the next square which goes to the A. The two A’s are connected
so that means you can get to that section where you would then need the
Swimming skill to get to square number 2. Situations like this sometimes Occur
on the same level but is usually marked to represent where a stairway ends up.
Reading the Adventure Data
===========================
At the beginning of each adventure I will tell you the name of the adventure,
Info provided by the game and the number of turns. After that is a short
description or text explaining what to do for a particular section. Finally
below that is the map information telling you the location, condition and
monster types that reside in the area. Although a particular adventure may have
many types of monsters, not all of the monsters appear in the same area. The
condition is the general weather or atmosphere associated with an area. You can
check this at any time in the adventure screen by selecting skill and then
press the X Button. Conditions in a level can affect the rate at which you
learn magic. For example, if you are standing in water then you won’t learn a
fire spell as quickly. The same holds true for the type of area as well. If you
are in the Jade Forest, the wood type spells increase quickly.

Once known as a member of the notorious pirate team “Sea Wolf,” she retired
when she married Pablo, a school teacher. Fierce at times, but has a romantic
side as well. One day while traveling, she receives the news of her husband’s
death. A fateful meeting awaits her at Pablo’s funeral.

1. Nivacolina, Snowhill Town
=============================
The story begins as a male voice is narrating the story of how he met Laura.
Laura is in town for the funeral of her late husband Pablo. Before you even
have a chance to do anything, Laura and an unknown boy is attacked by bandits.
This is an auto-battle so sit back and watch as the rest of the story unfolds.
If you are lucky then you may learn an ability for Laura’s dagger without doing
a thing. After the battle the boy will thank you for rescuing him. After
revealing himself as Prince Henri of Escata you get him a change of clothes and
begin the journey towards Vaftom.
There is nothing to do in this town except for embark on the first leg of your
journey. Enter the Snowman’s Hat Inn, get Information and then choose
Adventures. The only adventure available right now is “The Road to Vaftom: Part
1.”

The Journey begins at the Silver Hills. This is pretty easy and the battles her
are no problem. Make sure to use Melee with Laura and Henri’s Dagger since both
of those results in no weapon breakage. Walk around a bit and you may find
treasure chests. This is a good opportunity to get treasure and battle
experience. When you reach one step before the exit of Winter Hills, you will
be attacked by a Pursuer and 4 Guckies. Destroy them and then move on to the
Highroad Path. Once you get to the Highroad field you should keep going back
and forth between the two Highroads and battle as many creatures as possible.
**NOTE**
Laura comes with the skill Defuse L1. When you do come across a treasure chest
make sure to use this skill beforehand, that way you avoid taking unnecessary
damage. If you fail and a Treasure Chest Monster appears, use your dagger
because melee attacks are useless. Treasure Chest Monsters are powerful but
provide a good sparking opportunity and they often drop a variety of items.

Use your daggers with both characters as well as the spell Fire Arrows which
Laura can cast. Even though the Pursuer has more Life Points than the Guckies,
the Guckies are really easy to defeat. Focus on taking them out first and then
go for the kill on the Pursuer. After they are defeated, exit onto the Highroad.

2. Wanda, Carrier Central
============================
Laura and Henri arrive in Wanda. Don’t be hasty in getting on with quest or you
may miss the opportunity to get another character. Go into the Tumbleweed Inn
and get Information. The fourth choice down on the list is Judy. After talking
with her she will join your party. You now have many options open to you. You
could do some shopping, go to the Blacksmith, embark on a side quest or
continue to Vaftom. It’s your choice. If you decide to do the “Lumina Stone”
side quest, keep in mind that you only have one shot at it. Side quests aren’t
necessary to complete the game but without them you won’t be strong enough to
defeat the final boss. I recommend doing the Lumina Stone adventure to get a
few more items and to have Judy get some battle experience to increase her HP
and get new panels.

Now that you have three characters, it should be a bit easier since you now
have more total Life Points (Not that the first one was hard). Use Fire Arrows
with Judy. Melee attacks with Laura and the Dagger with Henri. The Pursuer hits
the hardest so just gang up on him and finish him first. After he is gone it’s
just like a normal battle. After the battle is over all you need to do is go
southwest to reach the village of Zomar.

3. Zomar, Tropical Village
============================
Now that you have arrived in Vaftom, I suggest that you just take the road to
Longshank since there is nothing here except for a ridiculously confusing side
quest that you may want to undertake once you have more characters. Don’t
forget to buy and sell items, because if you can increase your market rank fast,
you will get better weapons and armor earlier on. If you have the skill called
Quick-Fix, it will come in handy because you will need it to repair the weapons
with Fire Arts or Fire Arrows on them.

Take Henri to Vaftom. The last stop is Longshank.

Fire Arrows is the key to winning this battle. Take care of the Hellspiders
first since they have the LP draining technique X-Termination. Once they are
taken care of go after the Pursuer. This is the final step before Longshank so
make sure that you are absolutely ready to end the adventure before taking on
the boss.

4. Longshank, Peninsula Town
===============================
Now that you have made it to Longshank you are one step away from reaching
Vaftom. Before you do anything visit the Inn and talk to Michelle who will join
you later. There are a number of side quests here but the only one you should
be concerned about finishing is Fugar’s Mansion since it is so easy and the
panels that you get won’t be very good. If you don’t do this one now then you
may be hurting your characters growth later in the game when you do decide to
do it. If you spoke with Michelle in the Inn at Longshank then she will join
automatically when you get on the ship to Vaftom. Because of a Cursed Gauntlet,
you won’t be able to place anything in the middle growth panel. She also has
very low Life Points but does use guns which are great for taking down the
enemies Life Points.
****Note about Guns****
Gun Parts are hard to come by in this game so make sure that you use Quick-Fix
whenever your gun’s durability falls below 20.

In this adventure you begin on the bottom deck of the ship and Michelle who you
met in Longshank will join you at this point. This should be a fairly easy
adventure now that you have 4 characters. Make sure that you use magic all the
time for Judy and Michelle and save your guns for really tight situations.
Michelle has a lot of flaws but she comes with a lot of great equipment. The
boss on the top deck of the ship is the final obstacle so make sure that you
are absolutely ready to move on before fighting it.

By now the pursuer is fairly weak compared to your group. If you want to deal

5. Vaftom, City of Temples
===============================
When you arrive in Vaftom head for the Iskandar Plaza and you will see a scene
in which the characters are enjoying the Festival of Regina Leone. You may want
to keep this save file if you want to see this scene again. After the festival
is over you won’t be able to leave town. Visit Iskandar Plaza one more time to
enter the Escata Royal Mausoleum. After finding out the secret of Henri’s Blade,
you meet Basil Galeos of Escata who is insistent on protecting Henri. Visit the
Inn again and Henri will arrive with his bodyguard Francis who will now join
your party. Now it is time to return to Escata and unlock Henri’s mystery.

Getting back to Escata should be no problem now that you have five characters.
The most obvious stat that you will notice is that Francis has 19 Life Points.
Place this guy in front and let him absorb some damage. He is a poor magic user
but a great fighter. Take advantage of this fact when organizing the Growth
Panel. This is just a standard path with no boss so stay as long as you can
before finishing.

6. Ancient Kingdom of Escata

There is nothing to do here except for visit the Escata Palace Ruins and
unravel the mystery. The object of this adventure is to read the books in the
library and find out about the Blade of Escata. Once you examine the 5 books,
the adventure ends. If you want to get stronger by doing side quests, you
should do so at this point because after you complete Escata Palace the
Elemental Gears will occupy the adventure slots.

This adventure is especially quick if you have the Obstacle Crossing skill. You
can when simply by using Obstacle Crossing on the east path and then go south
into the library. You could do this but you don’t want to because by wondering
around, you can find a lot of treasure, most of it being Kr. I increased my
money from 16,000 Kr to 109,000 Kr. You will need that money to purchase items
because after this adventure is the Elemental Gears.

7. The Elemental Gears
===============================
Henri has found a way to restore the power of the Blade of Escata and the
secret lies in finding the 5 Elemental Gears. One of the Elemental Gears (The
Crown of Ares) is held by Basil Galeos which you can get by visiting Galeos’
Castle. Equip this with the Blade of Escata and the power of the blade will
increase from 11 to 18. The remaining four aren’t so easy to obtain and you
will need to go on four adventures to get them. You can do the Elemental Gear
quests in any order. Each time you undergo a quest a new character will join
you. Once you have more than 7 characters the game will force you to leave
extra characters behind. You can build up a well balanced team or you can just
choose the same characters to power up. It’s up to you. As for the Gears I
recommend doing the in this order: Wood, Earth, Metal and Water.

The Petran Tribe is said to have the Earth Elemental Gear, which increases the
power of the Blade of Escata.

Anzan who will join the prince in finding the Chestplate of Behemoth which is

The Cavern of Murals is a mysterious and deadly place. Throughout the Cave
there are murals on the wall. The Murals are in the shape of Aquans, Beasts,
and Birds. When you examine a mural, it will come to life and attack. Here is a

The key to winning this battle is Parry, Deflect and Block. With very low Life
Points you can win this fight quite easily. Michelles us of the gun will also
be key because the gun can take out Kummi’s Life Points quick. Make sure that
you have a couple of characters each round with Deflect or Parry and have
Michelle go crazy with the gun. You should win easily and recover the Behemoth
Chestplate. By the way in my game when I completed this quest I defeated him
with only Michelle and Henri who each had 1 Life Point apiece.
At the conclusion of the adventure you will not only have the Behemoth
Chestplate but also access to the city of Iskandaria. The only thing to do in
Iskandaria is to shop or complete a side quest.

The Water Elemental Gear

The Chapa Tribe is said to have the Water Elemental Gear, which increases the
power of the Blade of Escata.

will join the prince in finding the Boots of Vayu which is one of the 5

This is a good quest to level up your monsters because of the guaranteed fights
that you will find in this cave. I recommend doing this Elemental Gear
adventure last because there is no boss which means that you can increase your
kill count and finish the adventure without worrying about a boss. The only
thing that you have to start with is a green orb. The orb won’t stay green
forever and will change colors depending on the temperature. After a certain
number of turns the orb will change from green to red. Once the orb is red it
will begin to make a sound.
The object of this adventure is to place the orb in the correct holes. On the
map the rooms are marked with an R, G, and B. Those represent which color orb
needs to go into the slot. There are also places with hot and cold water. Hot
water will turn the orb red while cold water will turn it blue. If you place
the orb in the wrong hole then you will have to face a monster only found in
this cave called a Gellicle. Although they are quite strong, they do
occasionally drop Magic Tablets.

The final annoyance in this dungeon is the Croakers that wait on the path. You
can avoid these if you want by choosing to wait and see what happens but you
probably want to battle them to get your Aquans kill number up. If the orb is
red then you will have no choice but to fight. A sure fire way to know if your
Monster Level is increasing is to see if a Bully Croaker shows up amongst the
Croakers.

After the orb is placed in the appropriate spots, the Lake will dry up
revealing a hole in the Grotto. Enter that hole to the bottom of the Grotto and
collect the treasures inside. Be sure not to miss the powerful Dragon Scale
Knife. Once you get the Boots of Vayu, the adventure is over.

find it. Since the ring is in the Forests Eye it makes sense to stay out of the
eye and in the North or South Jade Forest.

Magic and sharp weapons work great against this guy. Use them to take him out

ring for a while. This is the mission that will often give you negative panels
if your monster ranking is high enough. After you exit this adventure you will

The Anubito Tribe is said to have the Metal Elemental Gear, which increases the
power of the Blade of Escata.

When you enter the mines near Vaftom an Anubito by the name of Musol Yanii will
tell you that the Gloves of Venus are inside. With Musol Yanii’s help you
should be able to get the gloves in no time at all. One thing that you may want
to know about this adventure is that you must read the notes inside the mines
to get the two bombs. If you don’t read the notes then you won’t be able to get
the Bomb Ore. With that said it’s time to get the Gloves of Venus.

The first thing that you’ll want to do is to get to the two notes and read them.
Only by reading them will you be able to get the two Bomber Ores needed to get
past the cave-in. After you get the two notes go to the northern part of the
map where Work Monster 1 is. Select the work monster to perform an action and
dig. After the second dig attempt the monster will move. Dig one more time to
awaken the monster in a rage causing the Bomber Ore to fall. Now that you have
one piece of Bomber Ore, go down Hatchway 2 to reach the bottom level of the
mine.

you feel like it’s starting to get to ugh then just go for the boss which is
past the cave-in.

If you took your time in this place and fought a lot of monsters then this guy
should be a cinch. Start out by using magic and then pummel him with a big
combo. This battle should be fairly quick. The only attack you will have to
worry about is Shock because it hits everyone. If you have sufficient Life
Protection though, the battle is yours. You won’t get a new city because you
have already opened Vaftom. Unfortunately Dagul Bos has already taken the
Gloves of Venus.

8. Decisive Battle at Dagul Bos’s Castle

Now that you have completed all of the Elemental Gear Quests, you must now
confront Dagul Bos. By now Henri is a powerhouse with all that equipment but
when you confront Dagul Bos you won’t have them. To open up this adventure you
must first visit Basil Galeos’ Castle and have him hold the items for
Safekeeping. Before visiting Basil Galeos, now is the time to do all of the
side quests. Make sure to equip Henri appropriately before taking on Dagul Bos.

9. Galeos the Traitor

Whether or not you defeated Dagul Bos or not, you will need to go to Basil
Galeos’s Castle to get the Elemental Gears back. If you lost you will get an
extra intermission sequence. Make sure you do some shopping and upgrade your
equipment before visiting Basil Galeos because the adventure will begin
immediately. Basil Galeos was a traitor and he intends to use the Elemental
Gears for personal gain. You must chase Galeos and get them back. You will be
required to fight a couple of battles before you reach him though.

If you have the spell Purify, use that each round to help keep your Hit Points

Galeos has the attack called Shadow Breath which can render a character knocked

Delta work great. Use powerful techniques like these and you will win in no
time.
After you take out all of Galeos’s Life Points, he will run away if you
defeated Dagul Bos or Dagul Bos will appear and finish off Galeos for good if
you lost to him. All that’s left is to chase down Basil Galeos or Dagul Bos to
Nakle Lines and finish the game.

Either Galeos or Dagul Bos escaped to Nakle lines depending on the outcome of
the first battle with Dagul Bos. You must go into the Nakle Lines which is one
of the Seven Wonders and get the Blade of Escata back from him as well as the
Elemental Gears.

The Sword Line has a whole bunch of invisible walls. Switches 1 and 2 each
trigger a set of invisible walls but you must do each set one at a time. Hit

and hit Switch 2 to lower the invisible walls that were blocking your way. When
you reach the end hit Switch 3 and a secret path will be revealed near the

This is probably the most annoying of the lines because the type of beast here
is Aquans. The other little aspect about this line is that the controls are
reversed meaning that when you push up it goes down and left it goes right.

Magic Symbol and step on it to return to the Line Core.

The Giant Line is quite simple but because of something that you must do that
you don’t do anywhere else in the game, this line becomes frustrating. When you
reach the area with the ? in it, press down on the analog and you will pass
through a wall that doesn’t exist. Press the switch inside and then continue
north. Complete the right side of the giant and then the left. After you are
done with both sides, you must pass through another false wall which I have
marked with a question mark. If you didn’t hit the switch however, you will not
be able to pass. Finally is one more false wall. At the third question mark tap
hold up to complete the line. Once you touch that last spot you will be warped
to the Laboratory. Find the Magic Symbol and step on it to return to the Line
Core.

Use the strongest techniques you have and don’t go for combos. You will need to
damage him a bit before Life Points go down. It is a good idea to rotate a team
of 3 each round giving your best attacker 3 turns. For me it was Musol Yanii
using Reverse Delta each time. Hopefully you have weapons that can block
attacks because early in the fight you can deflect his sword strikes. When he
starts using magic you are going to be in for it. For characters like Judy who
specialize in magic, have her use Purify on someone resting so that when they
come into the fight they will be at full Hit Points.
The second form is slightly easier than the first because you can start dealing
Life Point damage immediately. The downside is that Chaos gains new attacks
each form. After you defeat the 3rd form Chaos will evolve into his final and
most deadly form. Hopefully you can survive an onslaught of Shadow Breath and
Neutron Slap to take this guy out. The most important thing is to stick to a
plan and rescue any characters that are unable to fight. After he is defeated
you get to watch the ending and then move onto another character.
