Introduction:
Hello once again! I wrote this guide for everyone who wishes to enjoy
this Japanese game, but are somewhat confused with all the Japanese
texts found on the screen. Since I cannot read Japanese, I will just
present to you the functions of the choices in the game.

When Ultraman came to earth, he had an accident where he killed
Hayata Shin, a pilot. Ultraman felt sorry for the tragedy that
he caused, so he decided to unite with Hayata in order for him to
live again. After the incident, Hayata began his double life as
a normal human being and a defender of the world by raising the
Beta Capsule which transforms him into Ultraman.

When the Title Screen first loads up, press the START button.
You will notice that there are lots of question marks present. These

Game Controls:
The game has an extremely easy control scheme that anyone can
quickly grasp.

Left Analog Stick - use this to move Ultraman around the
screen. The directions are relative to the camera, but you should
have no problem since the camera doesn't move a lot, and if it
does, it's not too fast.

SQUARE Button - press this to make Ultraman do hand attacks.

X Button - press this to make Ultraman do feet attacks. If you're
in the menu, this button is used for going back one screen.
* If you are playing as a monster, the X Button is used to
charge the power gauge.

TRIANGLE Button - press this to use a special move. The special
move to be done is decided by how much power you have built up
on your power gauge.

O Button - press this to block attacks from the enemy. You will
occassionally see the screen alerting you to get ready to press
the O Button while fighting. This means if you time it right,
you can build an energy wall in front of you to successfully
render the projectile attack of the enemy useless, or if the
attack is physical, you might counter it with your own attack
or simply just avoid it (in a stylish fashion) without getting
hurt. If you're in the menu, this is used to accept a choice.

Roll - tap once to Ultraman's side to do a roll. This is
very useful for avoiding projectile attacks if you can't
set up your energy wall quickly as well as if the monster
is charging right at you.

Roll Attack - tap once to Ultraman's side to do a roll,
then press the SQUARE button to do a hand attack from
the roll.

Dash - while you are far or in mid-range distance from the
monster, hold the analog stick towards the direction of
the monster.

Dash Attack 1 - while in mid-range, perform a dash
towards the monster and press the SQUARE button.

Dash Attack 2 - while in mid-range, perform a dash
towards the monster and press the X Button to perform
a drop kick.

Dash Attack 3 - while far away, perform a dash
towards the monster and press the X Button to perform
a rolling kick.

Backflip - tap away from the monster to do a backflip.

Backflip Attack 1 - tap away to do a backflip, then
press SQUARE Button to do a jump attack on the monster.

Backflip Attack 2 - tap away to do a backflip, then
press X Button to do a jumping attack with your legs.

Grapple - while in front of the monster, push the stick
towards it and press the CIRCLE button. Keep pressing the
CIRCLE button to be able to throw the monster.

Jumping Grapple - while in mid-range or far away from the
monster, push the stick towards it and press the CIRCLE
button. Ultraman will grapple with the monster but he
will quickly throw it down.

Side Throw - position Ultraman to the side of the monster,
and then push the stick towards the monster and press the
CIRCLE button to do a different kind of throw.

Spinning Throw - position Ultraman behind a monster that
has a tail, then push the stick towards the monster and
press the CIRCLE button to grab its tail. Keep on rotating
the stick while pressing the CIRCLE button repeatedly to
win the struggle. If you win, you will see a counter on the
screen and Ultraman will begin to spin the monster around.
Keep on rotating the right stick while pressing the CIRCLE
button to spin the monster more. The monster will be thrown
afterwards.

Take Down - position Ultraman behind a two-legged monster,
then push the stick towards it and press the CIRCLE button
to take the monster down.

Take Down Chops - perform a Take Down and press the SQUARE
button continuously to give the monster some chopping
punishment.

Mount - while the monster is down flat on the ground, push
the stick towards it and press the CIRCLE button to mount
the monster.

Mounted Chops - mount a monster and press the SQUARE button
continuously to give the monster some chopping punishment.

Mounted Head Bash - mount a monster and press the X button
continuously to bash the monster's head on the ground.

Diving Missile - usually when your status has turned red,
instead of getting a normal throw, you will perform a
Diving Missile move. Just get close to the monster,
push the stick towards it and press the CIRCLE button.
You'll notice that Ultraman will carry the monster above
his head and he will start to fly with it. Rotate the
stick while pressing the CIRCLE button to let Ultraman
fly really high before diving back down to earth with the
monster as the receiver of gravity's pain.

The Battlefield:
When you first enter the battlefield, you will notice
a picture of Ultraman on the lower left corner with
blue color. That is his status. As the fight progresses,
the color will change. When it turns red, it means
that Ultraman's time is almost up. Also, the more
hits Ultraman takes from his opponent, the faster
his status will turn red. Ultraman can only fight
on earth for a short time of 3 minutes or less,
because the pollution affects his powers. If he
doesn't leave earth in 3 minutes, he will die.

Below the status of Ultraman, you will find the
power gauge. The more successful attacks you dish
out on your opponent, the faster it will fill up.
The power gauge is segmented into three parts.
Each segment gives Ultraman different attacks.
For segment one, Ultraman gets "SLASH", a weak
projectile attack and a water blast that cannot
hurt monsters. Segment two gives ultraman the
"YATUZAKI", a spinning razor blade projectile
that deals a decent amount of damage. The
third segment gives Ultraman his finishing
move, the "SPECIUM", where he crosses his
arms to fire out the deadly beam.

You can also have fun in the battlefield by throwing
your opponents on the buildings, the explosions
are just wonderful to watch!

Part 3

The Monsters:
Ultraman is all about fighting gigantic monsters that have
characteristics of prehistoric animals, but are also aliens
in their own way, but some are obviously alien who just
want to cause destruction.

Since at first, you will have to beat them in Story Mode, and
there is no English text that pertains to the names of the
monsters, I will try to list them here in order as they appear,
although a lot of them will only be available on your second
time in Story Mode. I've also included descriptions as to what
they look like so as to simplify the identification process, as
well as what moves they have and what their SPECIAL DEATH SCENES
are.

Bemlar:
This is the first monster that Ultraman encounters. Bemlar is
tall and green. He has an extremely spikey back area down to
his tail. Since his arms are too short to be used for offense,
he uses his spikey head and tail to attack. He has a beam attack
that comes from his mouth. He can also turn into a glowing blue
ball for a quick attack.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Baltan:
Baltan looks like a grasshopper with a blue/grey tint. He has
bulging yellow eyes and he has pincers that he uses to swat and
pound enemies to the ground. He can also shoot off energy balls
from his pincers. He may also jump into the air and fire his
energy balls at you. He also has the ability to quickly teleport
to the area behind him.

Mutilation: Beat Baltan up a little and then start throwing him
around. You can also counter his attacks to throw him down, which
would cause one of his pincers to break. You can just stand close
to him and then grapple with him to break his pincer with a
shoulder throw.

Special Death Scene: None

Neronga:
Neronga is a four-legged monster. His back is yellow, up to his
tail. He has two horns on his head, and another one on his nose.
He can shoot a blue stream of electricity that can reach really
far. He can also shoot a larger stream of yellow electricity by
standing up temporarily and then aiming it at you.

Mutilation: Beat Neronga up a little until Ultraman can throw
the Yatuzaki. Hit Neronga with the Yatuzaki. After that, go to
Neronga's front do a jumping grapple with him. If Ultraman wins,
he will do a knee-to-the-chin move which will knock Neronga's
front horn off!

Special Death Scene: None

Antlar:
Antlar is a desert beetle and he has really long pincers coming
from his head. He can also burrow deep into the ground, and then
burst out to surprise you. He can also shoot a strange violet
ray into the air, which will suck you towards him as he gets
ready to attack.

Mutilation: Wait for Antlar to burrow into the ground. Don't
move. You'll see that you will be prompted by the screen to
press the CIRCLE button repeatedly. Do so to counter Antlar
as he bursts out of the ground and you will eventually break
his pincers. Alternatively, you can just bring his health
down really low, and then do a jumping grapple. Ultraman
will grab his pincers and break one of them.

Special Death Scene: None

Red King:
Red King is a large two-legged dinosaur with a small head. His
body is yellow with bluegreen parts, and it looks a little
segmented. He loves charging, using his head as the battering
ram. He also likes picking up large chunks of rocks from the
ground and then throwing it to his enemy.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: Beat Red King up until his life is really
low. Instead of blasting him with the Specium Ray, use the
Yatuzaki on him instead to chop him up into three parts!

Baltan II:
Baltan II looks almost the same as the first Baltan, but he is
a lot more effective. He is now brown, but still has the yellow
bulging eyes and large metallic pincers. He also has the ability
to create a shield around him that will render any of Ultraman's
projectiles useless. He can also deflect the Specium Ray using
the plates on his chest. He also has the ability to teleport
to a greater distance.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: Deal really good damage to Baltan II so that
he only has a small amount of health left, then finish him off
with the Yatuzaki to split him in two, vertically.

Aboras:
He is a blue two-legged dinosaur with a horn. He can attack you
with his ice-cold breath. While fighting Aboras, Banila will
come to help him fight off Ultraman.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Banila:
He is a red dinosaur with what seems to be like a wedge on his
head. He can breath fire. Banila will appear to help Aboras
fight off Ultraman.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Gubila:
Gubila looks like a giant shark with four legs, a tail, and a
drill on his nose. He also has yellow parts in areas of his body.
He likes to charge using his drill. He can also burrow into the
ground and burst out with a surprise attack.

Mutilation: Wait for Gubila to burrow into the ground. Keep on
pressing CIRCLE button when the screen tells you to counter
Gubila and break his drill off.

Special Death Scene: None

Gomora:
Gomora is a two-legged dinosaur with two horns on his head and
another one on his nose. He also has a very long tail. He loves
charging using his horns, as well as using his long tail to
attack due to the advantage of range.

Mutilation: Kick Gomora so that he will fall down. Mount him and
do the Mounted Head Bash (Press X button repeatedly while mounted
on him) and you'll break his horn off. Next, go behind Gomora and
grab his tail to do the Spinning Throw (rotate left stick while
pressing CIRCLE repeatedly) and his tail will be pulled off!

Special Death Scene: None

Geronimon:
Geronimon is a very feathery two-legged dinosaur with white beared.
He can use his feathers to pierce through the enemy's skin. He can
also use his lethal breath to cause harm to the enemy.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Z-Ton:
Z-Ton is the final enemy of Ultraman. He has to crooked horns and
three gold parts on his body. He looks somewhat like the Baltans,
except that he doesn't have giant pincers. He can shoot red beams
from his head's gold part, as well as an even deadlier white
beam. He also has the ability to absorb Ultraman's Specium Ray
and then blast it back to Ultraman!

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Ragon:
Ragon looks like a merman. He is scaly and has a green color. He
can use a long projectile from his mouth to attack.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Pestar:
Pestar looks like conjoined starfish with a bat's head in the middle.
He can breath a steady stream of fire, or blast fire in a wave.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Kemular:
Kamular is a four-legged dinosaur with two rectangular plates on his
back, and a forked tail. He can emit black smoke from his mouth, and
shoot yellow wavy beams from his forked tail.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Skydon:
Skydon is an extremely large Ankylosaurus-looking monster. He is heavily
armored, and he has spikes on his sides and he also has a morning star
like tail with spikes, too. He can breath fire, or just stand on two
feet and then fall on the enemy to crush him. He is the only monster
that no grab attack can handle. He is just extremely too heavy for
Ultraman to carry.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None, but he will just fall asleep whatever you do,
leaving Ultraman to just shrug him off.

Pigmon:
Pigmon is a midget sized alien. He has brown fur, and all he can do is
do a small jump attack on his enemy. It only takes one his for him to die.
He doesn't fight Ultraman because he is just a friendly alien of midget
size.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Takkong:
Takkong is a massive ball of holes with short arms and a long tail. He
can spit water out. He is the first enemy in Ultraman Returns Mode.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Kingsaur III:
Kingsaur III is a four-legged dinosaur with two long horns. He can shoot
a red beam from his mouth, and white deadly waves from his horns. He is
the second enemy in Ultraman Returns Mode.

Mutilation: Stay far away from Kingsaur III. When your power guage is low
or is still saying B-Charge, press the TRIANGLE button to make Ultraman Jack
run and them jump into the air with a diving kick, to break off both of
Kingsaur III's horns.

Special Death Scene: None

Twintail:
Twintail is a strange spikey centipede-like monster with an even stranger
look on his face. His tail is always positioned on top of him, while his
head is always at the base of his body. He can also roll and then jump
into the air, bashing the enemy with his spikey back.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Gudon:
Gudon is an extremely spikey monster with whip-like arms. He has a
sand-like color, and his eyes are red. He is overly aggressive. He
uses his whips in dangerous combinations, and he proves to be
a challenge for Ultraman.

Black King is not entirely black, but he has a shade of blue and grey as
well. He has a number of horns on his body. He can shoot a red beam
from his mouth. Black King cooperates with Nackle to fight Ultraman.

Mutilation: None

Special Death Scene: None

Nackle is a strange fighter. He has a black head with bulging orange
eyes, and his body is white with red spots. He can shoot a white
beam from his head.

Finding All Monsters in Monster Grave Mode:
Here, you roam around space in your little jet trying to find all
the monsters. The left stick controls the movement, while pushing
up on the right stick will cause your jet to move faster, while
pushing down will cause your jet to decelerate. You can acheive
"warp speed" by pushing up on the right stick for a long time.

Finding the monsters in Monster Grave Mode can be a little confusing
at times, especially when you haven't beaten all monsters yet. You
will have to find all the monsters here to unlock Violence Rock Mode,
which is needed to unlock other things to play with.

The basic guideline here is to follow the red dots on your radar. Head
straight for the red dot. When you are near the red dot, you will see a
transparent version of a certain monster in front of you. Press the CIRCLE
button to view the monster, and once again to let the narrator tell you
more about the monster. After he relays the information, that monster will
be counted as one monster found.

Do not stray from the red dot's path, just
head straight until you find another red dot on your radar. This is the only
time that you should move out of your way to follow the other red dot. Do
this until you have found around 10 or so monsters, or until you think you
have no more monsters left to find. Keep in mind that the only monsters
you will find here are those that you have beaten already, that means
every monster when you first finish Story Mode.

If you have found enough monsters, press START, then choose the bottom
option to exit to the title screen. You should notice that another mode has
been unlocked. Choose the latest unlocked mode to play Violence Rock mode.

Please remember that after you beat Story Mode twice, and Ultraman Returns
Mode once, there will be new monsters to find in Monster Grave Mode. There
is even one monster that is black and has an exoskeleton in there, that
Ultraman hasn't fought in the game.

Beating Violence Rock Mode:
In here, you play as Red King in a rock throwing game. The SQUARE button is
used to tell Red King to start running. After Red King begins running, hold
the SQUARE button to slowly raise the angle by which Red King will throw
the giant rock.

The best method for getting the highest score (over 982.5 meters) is this:

1. Press SQUARE button once if you're ready to let Red King run.
2. On the SEVENTH step, OR the SEVEN-POINT-FIFTH step, start holding the
SQUARE button to begin raising the angle. The SEVENTH step is on Red King's
LEFT FOOT.
3. Before the ELEVENTH step, release the SQUARE button just as Red King is
about to step with his LEFT FOOT. Remember, the ELEVENTH step is on Red King's
left foot.

The method above will usually give you from 980 to 984 meters. You will know
that you have done the steps right when you see Red King stop for a second
as the screen darkens a bit, and then he lights up the rock with power and
throws it while flaming. That is Red King's power throw.

My highest record is 984.876 meters.

Once you have the number 1 rank, press START and then choose EXIT. You will
see that Ultraman Returns Mode is already available.

Part 4
******

Secrets:
Unlock Monster World Mode: Beat Story Mode once.
Unlock Monster Grave Mode: Beat Monster World once.
Violence Rock Mode: Find all monsters in Monster Grave Mode.
Ultraman Returns Mode: Get top score in Violence Rock Mode.
Survival Mode: Beat Ultraman Returns Mode once.
Unlock Set 1 Monsters: Beat Story Mode once.
Unlock Set 2 Monsters: Beat Story Mode twice.
Unlock Set 3 Monsters: Beat Ultraman Returns once.
Alternate Ending: When you reach Z-Ton (the final enemy of Ultraman),
do not use the Specium Ray on him. Beat him using physical attacks.
This is easier to do in the easiest difficulty.

Once you have beaten all the modes, when you return to Monster Grave Mode,
you will notice that the music has become somewhat more eerie sounding,
and you will find a black dinosaur with an exoskeleton floating around.
I am not sure if you can play as or fight this dinosaur.

Requests:

If you have any more information that I am looking for, please e-mail them
to me and I will give credit to you for the information.

I'm looking for...

1. Episode Guide - I'm looking for an episode guide for the Ultraman story.
I would really appreciate it if you can provide information about each
episode in detail, like who the characters are, why the monster appeared,
name of their attacks, and such.

Thanks:
-> Scarletshadow informed me that the black dinosaur with exoskeleton's name
is Seabohzu, a monster from the graveyard who fell to earth, and that
Ultraman helped him get back their with the use of a rocket. Thanks!

-> Spenze informed us that in order to break off Neronga's horn, you have to
use the Yatuzaki on him first. Thanks!

Legalities:
I wrote this guide so that people will be able to use this guide for FREE.
Just don't use it to make money and it will be ok. Feel free to distribute
to those interested.
