_____________________--WORLD 1: COLOSSEO--_______________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Colosseo Underground Canal
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You start off in a small room. Take the only passage out of this room and take a
right. When you come onto the next screen, go left and break open the various
pots and things with your Diskarmor. You should collect a few build ups. Now
take the right passage that you passed up earlier to enter a room filled with
many Catterpillars. Defeat them by using your Diskarmor and then break open your
surroundings to gather more build ups. Take the upper right passage to leave
this room. You will see a lion head to your right. Walk up to it and press
square to save your progress. Continue along the path and jump up the following
steps to reach your next destination.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Colosseo 1F West
Events: Divine Shield(Defense Up)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After jumping out of the canal, take a right. Follow the long hallway, busting
up fallen columns and statues in the process. You will meet many Catterpillars
along the way, so dispose of them properly. Eventually, you will come to a dead
end. You need a special power to pass, so turn around and go back through the
hallway. Take the left path from the Canal this time. You should see a small
alcove on your map, it will be the only one on the right side. Enter the niche
and bust up the golden statue to have your defense increased by a divine shield.
Keep going down the original hallway until you reach a stairway. Bust up statues
and the two large pots before ascending.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C) Colosseo North Stair 2F
Events: Acquire Slide
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow the linear hallway. Smash the huge rocks, bash the statues, and kill the
Catterpillars until you reach a dead end with a glowing statue. Smash the statue
to acquire the ability to slide. Backtrack to Colosseo 1F West now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D) Colosseo 1F West (revisited)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Catterpillars will be fairly common during this trek. Keep your distance and be
prepared to back away if they roll towards you. After clobbering the seemingly
endless waves of Catterpillars, make your way towards the opposite end of the
long hallway. Use your slide power once you reach the previously inaccessible
area. There is a hidden pot beside the bronze rock formation. Save your game at
the Lion's Head and then take the stairway upwards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E) Colosseo South Stair 2F
Events: Holy Sword(Attack up), Hammer Guy
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ignore the first stairway you see and continue down the hall. Bust up any of the
large rocks in your path or out of it. Hammer Guy will bust out of the wall
ahead and attack. Hit him once with attack 2 and then step away. Keep repeating
this until Hammer Guy dies. Take the Holy Sword he drops and then return to the
previous stairway that you ignored earlier. Take it.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F) Colosseo South Stair 3F
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Upon reaching this area, you will immediately notice the menacing spike pits
with the even more menacing spiked ceiling crashing down on them. Being hit by
the ceiling doesn't kill you instantly as you might think, but it does deal out
some hefty damage. It's in your best interest to avoid it. Start by bashing the
pot to the right of the spiky trap. When the spiked ceiling begins to rise, grab
the item from the pot you broke and duck into the niche. Advance once the
ceiling begins to rise again. Repeat this until you have reached the last spiky
trap.
You should see a horse statue here. It looks like a knight chess piece. Walk up
to it and press square. Rygar will move the statue 180 degrees and the door in
South Stair 2F will be accessible now. You will also notice that the spiked
ceiling is no longer crashing down upon the floor. Your trip back should be less
eventful, but don't get too cocky because the spiked pits will still injure you.
Return to 2F.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G) Colosseo South Stair 2F (revisited)
Events: Stone Tablet 1, Ambrosia, Boss: Hekatonchieres
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Venture past where you first fought Hammer Guy. There will be some Catterpillars
where he once was. Defeat them and continue through the door ahead. You will be
on a ledge now. Go forward a little bit and then go up the small steps. The
glowing statue contains a stone tablet. Bust up all of the other statues,
including the one hidden to the left of the stone tablet statue. Go down the
small flight of steps and continue along your original path. The ground has
caved in ahead.
You will notice here that Rygar can hang onto ledges. Don't bother with it.
Instead just jump down. A few large rocks are up ahead. Bust them up. Plow
through the first horde of Catterpillars you come to. The next wave of
Catterpillars will fall from the sky near a sealed slide-way. Defeat all of
these Catterpillars and the slide-way will become unsealed. Slide through this
passage and bust up all of the pots in the next room.
Take the stairway down. Take the right path and then hug the left wall until you
enter a secret room. You will find another glowing statue in here. Bust it up to
receive an Ambrosia. Destroy the other obstacles in the room and then leave.
Continue to your right, busting up weapon racks, large rock formations and pots
until you reach a horse statue. Move the statue with square and a lot of
Catterpillars will drop down. Your first encounter with a 'Catterkiller' will
occur here.
They are Catterpillars, but with black bodies and red eyes. Catterkillers are
significantly tougher, but still push-overs. Backtrack to where you first went
down the stairs. Turn left this time and keep traveling forward. Destroy all of
the Catterpillars you see and then take the passage that branches off. Save your
progress at the Lion's Head. If you go to the left of the save point, you will
be able to bust up part of the wall and hopefully collect some build up points.
To the right of the save point, there is a box. Leap onto this box and climb up
it. Continue forward until you reach a large open arena. Here you will encounter
the boss, Hekatonchieres. He is quite a large statue.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #1: Hekatonchieres
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the fight starts, immediately move to the right of Hekaton. If you stay in
the center, you will be open to two of the statue's attacks. The far right
statue piece uses two attacks. The first and most common is the horizontal
swipe. This can be avoided by jumping. The second is a vertical cut, but it
rarely seems to be accurate. Once you learn timing, this boss is a piece of
cake. Just stay on the right side and do a four hit combo. Get ready to jump
above the horizontal swipe when it comes and then repeat. If you get knocked
down, stand and do a two hit combo rather than a four hitter. Afterwards return
to your normal pattern.
This is slow and methodical, but highly efficient. Try to aim your strikes at
the statue's sword arm as it lays dormant. Don't get too close to Hekatonchieres
because the horse head will spew fire. The fire is extremely hard to avoid,
especially if you don't see it coming.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Main Field
Event: Ancient Tablet, Sound Chunk of the Future 1, Sound Chunk of the Future
2, Divine Shield, Relief of the Future 8, Relief of the Future 1, Sculpture of
the Future 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You will start out on a grassy area after the cutscene. To your right will be a
row of small stone stands. Smash these and collect the build ups inside. Back in
the center are some large pots which can be destroyed as well. Continue straight
until you reach a glowing statue. Inside will be an Ancient Tablet. This details
the history of Hekatonchieres(how do you pronounce that anyways?). To the right
of the glowing statue, in the grass, is a pot which can be broken. Continue up
the stairs to the right and use the save point.
Take the left path from the save point and continue. At the next crossing, take
the right path and you will drop down. Break open the pot near here for a 'Sound
Chunk of the Future 1'. Follow the left path and hang left. Drop down once you
reach the ledge. You will find yourself at the save point once again. Follow the
left path until the intersection where you went right earlier, except take the
left path this time, but be careful.
The ground will crumble as you climb the stairs. Carefully jump across to the
other ledge and continue forward to reach Garyeon Hill. Keep going forward,
fighting off the Boxers and smashing columns, barrels and anything else you see.
You will soon come to a four way crossing. Take the left path and jump down to
reach three vases. Break them open to gain custody of a 'Sound Chunk of the
Future 2'.
Climb the nearby stairs now and break the columns up ahead. Go ahead and climb
the small flight of steps here as well. To your left will be a glowing statue
with a bunch of smaller pillars around it. Destroy everything! You should gain a
healthy amount of build-ups as well as a Divine Shield. Back up and go to the
right this time. Keep going until you reach the first four-way crossing yet
again. Instead of going left, go right. Ahead of you will be a long flight of
stairs. Defeat the pesky Boxers and go to the top to confront Big Boxer.
Steer clear of his energy balls and you'll be fine. Backtrack to the previous
ledge and lash out with your Diskarmor to your right and left. Pillars and
columns will come crashing down everywhere. Hop over the ledge to your immediate
left and make your way to the nearby platform. Move the horse statue to unseal
the doorway. Approach the doorway, but break the surrounding columns before
entering it. You should gain some build ups, Nectar, and maybe even a Divine
Shield.
Enter the door after you finish that. Go straight and cross the bridge. To your
right is a save point; make use of it. Go to the left now and smash the
obstacles. Turn right instead of going straight and smash open the pots to
obtain 'Relief of the Future 8'. Drop down now and break open the pot. You might
get a Divine Armor from this pot. Drop down again and you will be in a grassy
area. The ground will shake and Catterpillars will arise. Go to your right
before engaging them and break open the two pots.
Confront the Catterpillars now, but be careful. There are a good many of them
and they like to surround you. Try to line them up, so you can take minimal
damage while dishing out maximum. Bounce up the following ledges and hang right
to reach two pots which are just screaming for a smashing. Back up slightly and
go left under the crumbling bridge. A solitary pot lies here. It contains
'Relief of the Future 1'.
Bactrack a bit, and then go to your immediate right which should be just above
where you broke open the two pots just moments before. This area is partially
hidden by the camera at times. Jump up the ledge and smash the pots. Continue
right and give the horse statue a firm spin. Go up the stairs and turn 180
degress. You will notice that the passage near the save point is unsealed now.
Take this passage; save the game if you want, and travel along the bridge up
ahead. Smash all of the pesky columns you see.
Bail out by jumping the railing to your left. Once on the ground, you will see a
few pots to the right. Smash them open and collect the bounty inside. Follow the
narrow passage in the center of the big wall. You will soon arrive at a stream.
Take out your anger on the unsuspecting pillars within. Approach the field and
do the same, knocking over a pillar that leads to a sealed door in the process.
If you backtrack through the water, you will see a hidden pot against the wall.
Take note of the save point straight ahead, and then descend down the stairway
just to the right of the water. It's sort of hidden. The ground is really jagged
here. Press forward and leap towards the big field of pots. Bust 'em all up.
Keep following the path, ignoring the right turn for now. You will see a boxer
or two overhead, but just ignore them as you follow the curve of the path. Many
pots lie ahead, so do the logical thing and shatter them. By now a boxer will
descend upon you.
Teach him the power of the Diskarmor. His buddies will come along shortly, so be
prepared. Retrace your steps and take the right path you previously ignored. It
will lead you upwards to the long hallway of columns that you saw earlier from
the water. Bust all of the columns and pots that you see here into pieces. A few
more Boxers might approach you while doing this. You should also see an odd
looking sculpture covered in grass. Break this to find a 'Sculpture of the
Future 1'.
Make your way forwards and leap across the gap to the next ledge. If the balls
of energy hurtling towards you didn't give it away, I will - there is a Big
Boxer up ahead. A horse statue is nearby him too. Smash the columns before or
after you fight the Big Boxer; it doesn't matter. Big Boxer may drop a Divine
Shield. Move the statue and the seal on the nearby doorway will dissipate. Enter
at your convenience.
_____________________--WORLD 2: ELYSION SHRINE--_____________________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Elysion Shrine Rear Entrance
Event: Sculpture of the Future 2, Caduceus, Relief of the Future 2, Boss:
Icarus, Hades Diskarmor, Heavenly Diskarmor, Sound Chunk of the Future 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two pillars surround the door you entered through. They can both be disposed of
with your Diskarmor. Make use of the save point to your right. Ascend the
stairs. The right section of the plaque on the wall ahead can be smashed.
Continue going up the stairs and enter the nearby room. A Catterkiller and two
Catterpillars will be your welcoming party. Focus on the Catterkiller right
away. You will gain a Sculpture of the Future 2 during the battle. Bust up the
columns in the far corner of the room and the pillar to its side. Enter the door
and ascend the rickety stairs.
You will come face to face with some very tricky critters in this room. They can
turn invisible and dish out moderate damage. Strike at the areas in which they
became invisible, and you should do fine. There are pots galore in this room, so
destroy them all to collect the booty within. Move the horse statue now and
watch as the Claw Fiends block the doorway. They should be a bit easier now that
you know how to defeat them. They will charge at you from a distance generally.
Don't act like a sitting duck if you don't want to be one. Go back down the
stairs after vanquishing the Claw Fiends and ignore the door you just unsealed.
Take a leap into the first chamber instead. Take the hallway to your left and
approach the glowing statue. Crack it open along with the rest of the pots in
the room. Catterkillars/pillars will arise from the ground on the return trip.
You will get hit during this fight unless you're extremely skilled. However, the
plus side is that the Catterkillers often drop nice goodies.
Go back up the stairs and take the door that was unsealed earlier. Cross the
pillars, knocking the standing ones down and walking across them as you go.
Don't dismount from the pillars, or they will be incredibly hard to jump back
onto. You will most likely fall if you take a detour. Falling means more
Catterpillars. Approach the glowing bird and be told that you should slide(god
forbid they actually expect you to figure it out yourself). Do as you are told
and then go on a crushing spree with your Diskarmor in this room.
Indulge in the plethora of build ups. Take the door on the right and continue
down the hallway. Lion statues on the wall are destroyable as are columns and
the like. Slide under the door with the bird emblem and enter the next room.
This will be your toughest non-boss encounter yet, but it's still not very
difficult. Wildly swinging your Diskarmor is probably the most effective option
because the Catterkillers' rolls seem to be homing devices. Work on the Claw
Fiends first if possible.
Afterwards, make short work of the pots and such in the room. Take note of the
fact that Catterkillers have gotten stingier with their items. You should also
find a 'Relief of the Future 2' in this room. If you don't see it, break open
lion statues, columns, etc. until you do. From here, continue forward. Fall down
stairs or descend them, but eventually a save point will be visible. Be sure to
make use of it. The nearby doorway leads to the next boss.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #2: Icarus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This fight shouldn't be terribly difficult. Use R1 to guard against his sword
combos and then counter with a combo of your own. You can't hurt him when his
aura is up, so don't even bother trying. When Icarus is at 3/4 health, a
cutscene will occur and you will acquire Hades Diskarmor. Destroy all of the
surrounding columns and pillars in the area you're in. The door to the far south
is sealed, but the door to the north is accessible. After crushing all of the
pillars and collecting their contents, charge your Hades Diskarmor up by
pressing square near the misty columns. Approach the door while it's charged and
it will open.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #3: Sphinx
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sphinx is a lot tougher than Icarus and Hekatonchieres. At the start of the
fight, run around Sphinx's side to avoid his lightning blast. Now, hold down R1
and press triangle. You will unleash Cerberus on Sphinx. After Cerberus
vanishes, Sphinx will be facing you, so quickly run around to his side now. You
never want to face Sphinx because that is when he fires his lightning. Once at
his side, summon Cerberus again. Sphinx can be defeated fairly easily if you
never get in front of his face, but there are several times during the fight
where he will mount a pillar in the middle of the room. Once he does this, find
a good camera angle where you have a clear view of Sphinx on the pillar.
Sphinx will fire two lightning waves at you first. The second you see these
coming - jump. Afterwards, Sphinx will fire some blue lightning balls that hover
in the air for a brief while. Keep moving to the side to avoid these. Sphinx's
next attack can also be avoided, but it is much more difficult. Sphinx will
appear after his fourth and final attack, but he will become partially invisible
as he spins around you in a twister. Lash out with your Diskarmor and try to hit
one of his images while he is spinning. If you miss too much, Sphinx will hit
you.
Once Sphinx appears, quickly run around to his side and repeat the process.
Using an Ambrosia or Caduceus might be neccessary here. Hopefully, you will have
one or the other at your disposal. Just keep practicing if you have no recovery
items. You will gain the Heavenly Diskarmor once you beat Sphinx. Columns
surround the centerpiece in the room. Smash these columns and collect the build-
ups inside. On the left wall, from the direction you entered this room in, there
will be a slightly hidden passage. You can jump up the steps in this passage and
bust open the glowing statue to the right to find a ‘Sound Chunk of the Future
3’. Go back out the way you came to encounter Sphinx for a second time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #4: Sphinx (second incarnation)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This fight isn’t as tough as the first unless you make it that way. This
incarnation of Sphinx has two attacks. A slow homing lightning ball is its main
one. These things will follow you around until Sphinx is defeated. Avoid them at
all costs because they will juggle you around the room if you’re not careful.
Sphinx’s second attack is his lightning wave. You will recognize this attack
from your first fight. It still works the same, whereas he doesn’t fire it
unless he sees you. To beat Sphinx, use your Heavenly Diskarmor and chase him as
he teleports, but only hit him once each time. Any more than once and you will
miss, and most likely the homing lightning will catch up as well.
Repeat this, avoiding the homing lightning, and you should beat Sphinx in due
time. Afterwards, the supports will crumble and Rygar will find himself in a
familiar area. Use the save point to the left. Go to your main menu and
‘strengthen’ the Heavenly Diskarmor by expending 1000 build up points. This
enables you to summon Taros level 2. Do the same with your Hades Diskarmor. Take
the passage to the left of the save point. Look familiar? Well it is.
As you approach the sealed door, you will notice that the stands near it have
been lit with heavenly power. You will also notice that there are a few Boxers
nearby; dispose of them properly. Charge your Heavenly Diskarmor up with the
heavenly flame and approach the sealed door. Jump down the pit. Continue forward
into Poseidonia Shrine.
_____________________--WORLD 3: Poseidonia Shrine--______________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Outside Poseidonia Shrine
Events: Sculpture of the Future 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Destroy all of the plain columns without markings on them. Approach the Lion’s
Head and save. Hang to the right now. Try to avoid the center where blue shapes
rest at all costs for now. Eventually, while on the right side of the map, you
will see an obviously false waterfall. Travel through it and around to the horse
statue. Operate the statue to unlock a seal. Go through the waterfall once
again. Take a right immediately after emerging from it and circle around to the
glowing statue nearby. Bust it up to gain custody of a ‘Sculpture of the Future
3’.
Approach the far door in this watery courtyard, but be aware that monsters lurk
in the center. As you approach the blue shapes, they will rise and show their
true colors. They are Aqua Fiends, much stronger versions of Claw Fiends. Get
very close to them before swinging. Keep your guard up if you anticipate an
attack. Trying to evade the Aqua Fiend attacks without your shield up is
useless. There are a lot of them, so be patient and only strike if you know you
will hit because the Aqua Fiends, like their Claw cousins, fade away once you
swing at them. Once the enemy threat subsides, enter the Shrine.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Heaven Room
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a pretty brief walk. Just continue forward and take the left branch when
you come to the fork in the path. Note that the right branch is sealed off for
now. Eventually, you will arrive at the Sun Room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C) Sun Room
Crush the few columns that surround you. Drop down to the waters below. Two Aqua
Fiends await you down there. Greet them with either of your Diskarmors. Take the
path that the one Aqua Fiend came from to your left. Follow the stream and slide
under the archways. Enter the golden arches ahead(McDonald’s?).
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D) Tower of the Sun
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a save point to your right. You should definitely use it. Smash the
extremely out of place glittering fountain and you will hear a rumbling behind
you. Enter the room you just came from. Quickly begin smashing the right wall
with four hit combos from your level 2 Hades Diskarmor. Don’t stop until the
whole wall is gone, at which time you should charge into the next room and begin
bashing the right wall once again. Continue doing this until you are lifted up
onto the previously disabled bridge in the Sun Room. A rainbow bridge should now
replace what was once empty space. Cross the bridge and enter the Hall of the
Sun.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E) Hall of the Sun
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Walk up to the horse statue and move it. Advance towards the blue objects and
prepare for a pretty epic battle. There are many Aqua Fiends here, but you
should do fine as long as you keep them all on one side of you. Don’t let them
surround you and keep your guard up if you miss. Try not to do too many wild
combos because it’s quite possible that they will all miss. After you beat the
Aqua Fiends, backtrack to the Heaven Room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
F) Heaven Room (revisited)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Return to the branch in the path that you originally saw when you entered the
Poisedonia Shrine. Take the right path this time; the seals are gone. Continue
forward and leap into the door at the end of the path. You will now find
yourself in the Moon Room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
G) Moon Room
Events: Sea Diskarmor
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bust up the columns and plunge into the water below. Be ready to jump aside
because a Water Troll is coming. Whack him with a combo from the Hades Diskarmor
and then proceed into the next room where two more will greet you. Hit them
before they know what is going on. Smash all of the obstacles in this room, and
you might collect a Omphalos. This will restore all of your Icol when used.
Travel into the next room. A cutscene will occur and then you will be given the
Sea Diskarmor. Power up the Sea Diskarmor via the ‘strengthen’ menu. Return to
the Sun Room again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
H) Sun Room (revisited)
Event: Mystic Stone(Hephaestus), Mystic Stone(Ares +2), Sound Chunk of the
Future 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The first thing you will notice is the brief cutscene. Afterwards, you will see
that the water level has lowered significantly. Jump down into the water, kill
the Aqua Fiends, and then take the left passage. After going through this
passage, you will be in the wreckage left over from your smashing spree earlier.
Take the first door you see on the right. A glowing statue is in here, and it
contains Sound Chunk of the Future 4. Go back through the two doors you just
came through. The long hallway, which used to be a dead end, now contains a Sea
Diskarmor charger. Approach the charger, but take the left path near it instead
of charging up your Diskarmor.
Smash the glowing statue once you appear out on the ledge. You will get your
first Mystic Stone from this. Equip it on all of your Diskarmors. Back in the
previous hallway, the third door on the right from the steps contains the Mystic
Stone, Ares +2. Equip this on all of your weapons as well. Finally, use the Sea
Diskarmor charger at the top of the steps. Run back down the hallway, avoiding
the Aqua Fiends, and unseal the doorway with your charged Diskarmor.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I) Hall of the Sun (revisited)
Events: Hook, Vellum Scroll 6, Letter 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go towards the Aqua Fiends and fight the inevitable battle. Afterwards, hop up
on the rock near the sealed door and circle around the room clockwise, hugging
the outer wall. You should eventually reach a Sea Diskarmor charger. Charge up
your Diskarmor and hop down. Walk up to the door, unseal it, enter, break open
the golden statue, and then reenter the Hall of the Sun. Go back up to the Sea
Diskarmor charger, but use your hook to latch onto the opposite ledge. Hug the
wall until you reach a glowing statue. Smash it to collect a Vellum Scroll 6.
Hop down and reenter the room. Latch onto the right ledge with your hook. Smash
the glowing statue. Grab the Letter 4. Walk all the way back to the Moon Room
now. Cross the gap with your hook.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
J) Hall of the Moon
Events: Vellum Scroll 7, Ambrosia, Boss: Cetus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bust up the columns and engage the trolls in this room. A new type of troll is
here. The Tsunami Trolls fire energy balls at you, so go for them first. They
are distinctly blue, while the Water Trolls tend to be grayish. After beating
them, hop up on the stone formation to the left of the sealed door. Go around
the room counter-clockwise, ignoring the Sea Diskarmor charger for now. Use your
hook to cross the gap and approach the glowing statue. Give it a good beating
until it coughs up a Vellum Scroll 7. Hop down, use the save point, and wander
back to the Diskarmor charger; use it. Approach the doorway with your Sea
Diskarmor charged and open it.
Smash the glowing statue on the other side. Inside is some Ambrosia, nectar of
the gods! To the left are two partially invisible platforms. Jump across them
and approach the door. If you fall, just ascend via the platform staircase and
attempt it again. On the other side of the door is…
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #5: Cetus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cetus is actually pretty easy once you learn his pattern. At the start of the
fight, run up to him and start whacking with Hades Diskarmor preferably. Hades
long-range capabilities will be of great assistance to you here. As long as you
keep doing the 4x square four-hit combos, you should do fine. Once Cetus starts
to move, immediately run backwards. Cetus will destroy the icy walkway that you
stand on. Don’t back up too far, though. Once Cetus comes to a halt, immediately
return to your regularly scheduled beat-down. If you wait too long before
resuming your attack, Cetus will spew high-pressure water at you.
Cetus dives under water several times during the fight. When he does this,
immediately approach the end of the icy path and face right. Start attacking
when the overgrown fish appears, but be ready to dodge the ice balls he shoots
out of his sides. Keep repeating this until you’ve stomped the seafood into the
ground. Summon Cerberus LV2 is very useful in this fight as well.
___________________--WORLD 4: LABYRINTHOS PALACE--__________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Outside Labyrinthos Palace
Events: Caduceus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Head to the top left after washing ashore. Use the save point that rests against
the wall. Head towards the two big double doors now, but turn off and face the
wall to the right of the doors. Whack it a few times and it will fall away.
Smash the glowing statue that is revealed to acquire a Caduceus. Enter the doors
now.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Inside Labyrinthos Palace
Events: Mystic Stone(Athena +2), Mystic Stone(Ares +4), Mystic Stone(Nemesis),
Hades Diskarmor Sequence Attack: Hades Execution, Lift Target, Swing Target,
Ambrosia, Sound Chunk of the Future 10, Sculpture of the Future 6, Tablet 3
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Watch the brief cutscene, and then welcome your Boxer friends with a few swipes
from your Heavenly Diskarmor. Afterwards, knock down the columns on the left
side, and finally smash the obstacle in the center of the room. After smashing
this, several Claw Fiends will emerge. Kill them promptly and you will see a
seal vanish. Go to the left and knock down the wall. A horse statue is behind
it. Move this statue and the seal on the underground door will vanish, but don't
enter just yet. Head straight across the room. To the left of the stairway is a
tall statue. Bust up this statue to gain Athena +2.
The statue to the right of the stairs is blocking an area which contains a
glowing statue. Destroy the obstacles in your path, then crush the glowing
statue. Inside the statue is Ares +4. Go to the screen where the underground
door is, but travel to the right instead of going in. You will see a grate
covering a passage. Bust up the grate, as well as the wall behind it. Inside is
yet another Mystic Stone. Go up the main staircase now. Hang to the right and
use your hook once you reach the gap in the floor.
A gold statue awaits you. It contains a Hades Diskarmor Sequence Attack:
Execution. Backtrack and enter the Underground doorway now. Charge down the
steps and bust up all of the square rock formations at the bottom. Go in the
opposite direction of the sealed door. Once you see the gold statue, bust it
open. You now have the ability to hook onto lift targets AND swing targets. Lift
targets are orangish and swing targets are yellowish. Make your way to the horse
statue and move it to unlock the door.
Backtrack up the steps using the lift targets. At the final lift target, you can
mount a platform that was previously inaccessible. Jump in the air and connect
with the swing target. Time your next jump to be at its peak height. If done
right, you should be able to connect with the other swing target in mid-air.
Jump onto the rising platform. Use the next swing target, and finally smash open
the glowing statue to receive an Ambrosia. Enjoy a freefall as you plummet
towards the door you unsealed earlier. Enter it.
All of the oddly shaped orange obstacles lining this path are breakable. Take
the liberty of destroying each and every one. One of them will reward you with a
Sound Chunk of the Future 10. Move the horse statue up ahead and jump down the
pit. Bust up the walls ahead. Inside the pit is a statue, which contains a
Sculpture of the Future 6. Up ahead will be another statue. This one plays host
to a Tablet 3. Line yourself up with the hook target ahead. Toss your Diskarmor
and latch onto the other side.
Smash open the next two walls, and then immediately guard. A Cyclops will come
charging towards you. Block his charge. Pull off a three hitter, preferably with
Heavenly Diskarmor or Hades. Immediately after the third hit, raise your guard
to withstand the Cyclops' three hit combo. Repeat this until the beast is dead.
Use the nearby lift target to rise from the pit. Proceed to the rectangular
entrance on the side of the tower.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C) Right Tower 1F
Events: Letter 2
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Circle around the tower, bashing up crates, pots and anything else that's
breakable. You will encounter a new type of enemy here, in the form of Super
Claw Fiends. They are just like claw fiends, except with a slightly different
claw, more power and an electric aura. Keep your guard up, and you should be
fine. After two screens, you should come to a horse statue. Move this statue,
and then walk up to the 'dead end'. Strike the center of it a few times with
your Diskarmor. A secret passage will be revealed. Letter 2 can be found within
the pots in this passage.
Travel back one screen from the horse statue; enter the door there. Cross the
pit and immediately turn around once all of the Claw Fiends are on one side of
you. Attack with your Diskarmor and block. Repeat this until they are all dead.
Go into the door on the side of the tower.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D) Left Tower 1F
Events: Letter 3, Mystic Stone(Tanatos), Sound Chunk of the Future 6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go to your right upon entering the tower. Make sure to bust up any crates and
stone blocks in sight. Ignore the swing targets overhead. Continue towards the
wall. When you arrive, bust up the center of the wall where a crack is visible.
You will be able to enter yet another hidden passage, which contains numerous
pots and things. Bust them all up. A Letter 3 can be gained from all of this.
Afterwards, return to the swing target area. Leap up on the platforms and do the
usual swing routine. Time the release of the button for when you're at the
height of your swing.
Do this until you reach the horse statue. Once you're there, move it to the side
as usual(what's with all the horse statues? What about cows, goats and
chickens?!?!?!). Jump down and look in the center of the room, towards the
inside of the tower. You will see a small passageway. Go into this passageway to
find yourself within a room full of gears. Use the orange lift targets to scale
the tower. Upon reaching the top, exit the room and save your progress at the
save point near the moving lasers. On the opposite side of the room from the
moving lasers, you will see a crate and some other obstacles.
Destroy them all. Inside the crate is a Mystic Stone. You should have over 2000
build up points by now, so go ahead and spend them on strengthening your Hades
Diskarmor to level 3. You now have the ability to Summon Cerberus LV3. Also, you
have just earned an extra Mystic Stone slot in your Hades Diskarmor. Take
advantage of this and insert Tanatos into it. Approach the moving laser wall
now. It moves between the farthest door and the door you just came from. On its
return course from the right door, follow behind it and use the orange lift
target.
Release yourself from the lift. You’re now in a large room. It’s time for a bit
of platform jumping. None of these jumps are particularly tricky; just make sure
that you’re walking in the right direction, as the analog stick can be a bit
unruly here. After around the fourth platform jump, you will notice a laser
coming towards you. Don’t panic; instead just jump back two platforms. The laser
wall will start to fall back shortly. Take this opportunity to follow it like
you did with the previous wall. Eventually, on a platform against the wall, you
can mount another lift target. Dismount from this one while the laser wall is
heading in the direction that you came from.
There are only a few more jumps left until you will find yourself in a room with
none other than Hammer Guy! Execute small combos and jump out of the way. Repeat
this until Hammer Guy is dead. The pot near the door will net you a Sound Chunk
of the Future 6 when smashed. Waddle over to the horse statue once you’ve
acquired the Sound Chunk. Shift his position to rotate the neighboring tower.
Exit via the nearby doorway. You’re presented with several swing targets, a few
platforms, and then several more swing targets. It is in your best interest not
to fall here. Release your grip on each swing target once you reach the peak of
your swing. Afterwards, press the square button once – and only once – to reach
the next target.
Eventually, you will find yourself at the opposite tower. Enter through the
door. Inside lie many pots, etc. Break them all and you just might find a Divine
Shield within. On the far end of the room, a Sea Diskarmor charger rests. Pull
out your Sea Diskarmor and charge up. Continue into the next room, where two
laser beams patrol. You can leap over these lasers, but only attempt this when
they’re coming towards you. They deal some decent damage if they connect, and
you will also lose your charge. The door at the far end of the room will become
unsealed once you face it with your charged Diskarmor. Two Big Boxers are inside
this room.
Pull out your Level 3 Hades Diskarmor and charge them. Avoid their energy balls
by weaving side to side. Once you reach them, they won’t pose much of a problem.
Move the horse statue. There is a door that leads to the inner area of the
tower. Go through this door and ascend via the lift targets. This area is almost
an exact replica of your earlier ascent in the Left Tower. A new obstacle will
greet you at the top. These come in the form of slicing razors. You can hear
them a mile away. Your goal is to hook across to the other ledge while the razor
is on the right side. After doing this, move left a bit and hook onto the ledge
you just came from. But make sure you’re going to end up on the other side of
the wall rather than the platform you just came from.
Repeat this process, keeping an eye out for the patterns of the next razor you
see. The general idea is to swing over to the opposite platform once you see the
razor going in the direction that you intend to. You will see a door shortly,
but just ignore it. Continue counter clockwise around the rim of the tower and
you should see a horse statue shortly. Move this and return to the door. On the
other side, you will be presented with another swing target/platform crossing.
This is pretty simple, although you should release from the swing target
proceeding the platforms just before reaching the height of your swing. You
don’t want to swing right off the edge.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
E) Left Tower 3F
Events: Sea Diskarmor Sequence Attack: Oceanic Tempest, Relief of the Future 4
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Go to you right immediately after entering the tower. Bust open the gold statue
there to gain a new sequence attack. There are a ton of pots on the left side of
this room as well. When you’re done, proceed to the next room where laser walls
are moving back and forth. Jump over these like the ones from earlier. All of
the columns around here are destructable, but some of them have Big Boxers
resting atop them. In the far room, there is a horse statue. There are also some
pots; one of which contains a ‘Relief of the Future 4’. As you approach the
horse statue, several Claw Fiends and a Super Claw Fiend will appear. With your
Hades Diskarmor in hand, they shouldn’t present much of a problem, if any.
Once you move the horse statue, the seal on the earlier door will dissipate.
Backtrack and take this door out of the tower. Continue across the narrow
bridge. Once you enter the next room, save your progress at the lion’s head,
then proceed into the sandy room.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #6: Minotaurs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Minotaurs is a very versatile boss; which is to say that you never know what to
expect. He can hit you with his shield, his tail and of course his sword. Use
your Hades Diskarmor for this fight. Try to find a good medium distance-wise
when fighting Minotaurs. If you stay too close, you will not have enough time to
predict his attacks; on the other hand, if you keep too much distance, you will
consistently miss him. His weak place is the side that his sword arm is on. When
you anticipate Minotaurs’ attack, always dodge by running, as well as jumping.
Run towards his weak side and execute a combo while he is recovering from his
massive attack. Don’t overdo it, though. Minotaurs doesn’t take extremely long
to recover, and he will send you for a loop if you dally too long at his side.
Towards the end of the fight, Minotaurs begins to charge you. This attack not
only hurts like crazy, but it can be executed from any distance. On the plus
side, it’s very predictable. Don’t be afraid to use your Cereberus LV3 attack.
However, never use it when facing his shield.
Eventually, Minotaurs will disperse and sink into the quicksand below. Approach
the altar, watch the cutscene, and step onto the platform. You will be taken to
the next world now.
_________________________--World 5: Othrys Mountain--________________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Mt. Othrys
Events: Relief of the Future 6
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There are plenty of rocks, fallen columns, and other obstacles to smash around
here. You can gain some decent things from them as well. When you’re finished,
approach the save point on the higher ledge. To get there, leap up the rocks in
the top right corner. Go to your right, smashing the rocks to either side of
you. Jump over the lava river here(it causes damage) and continue. The ground
will crumble beneath you, forcing you to fall and fight with some Lava Crawlers.
Use your Hades Diskarmor, as always, to dispose of them. Afterwards, make use of
the lift target near the other ledge to get back on the beaten path.
There is some rubble on the trail ahead. Bust it up to get a Relief of the
Future 6. Continue down the trail some more to reach the next area.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Mt. Othrys, Halfway Up
Events: Heavenly Diskarmor Sequence Attack: Nebular Burst, Sculpture of the
Future 7, Vellum Scroll 8, Sound Chunk of the Future 7, Stomp, Mystic
Stone(Persephone), Mystic Stone(Nike)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The battle ahead can be kind of tricky. When you approach the lava river ahead,
Lava Crawlers will emerge from it. You will also notice that something is
spewing fireballs at you. These things are called Fire Spiders, and one of them
is resting on the other side of river. Approach the spider and more will drop
from the sky. You will now be effectively surrounded, so Summon Cerberus LV2 to
knock them all back. Focus on the spiders because they are the most dangerous.
When they’re gone, attack the Lava Crawlers.
Climb the nearby rock ledge once the tough battle finally comes to a close. The
fourth platform up can be kind of tricky to reach, as the camera angle deceives
you. Instead of jumping towards the wall, jump inwards slightly. After you reach
the top, you will come to a fork in the road. Take the left path first to reach
some more destructable rubble. Destroy it all and you might receive an Omphalos
as a reward. Take the right path now, destroying any obstacles in your path. You
will plummet towards the ground sooner or later.
When this happens, you have to fight some Fire Spiders. Use two-hit combos with
Hades Diskarmor then block. Repeat this until you’ve won. A lift target should
appear on the other ledge now. Use this target to boost yourself up. Keep
traveling along the mountainside now. Inevitably, two extremely large boulders
will block your path. Go to town on these suckers to be treated with a lot of
rumbling and destruction. Proceed with your mountainous trek; bust up any
columns in your path.
Yet again you will fall into a pit with Lava Crawlers and Fire Spiders in it.
Defeat these, focusing on the Fire Spiders first as always. When the enemy’s
numbers reach zero, a lift target will appear. The center path will also become
unsealed. Enter this passageway and smash the golden statue. You’ve just
acquired the Heavenly Diskarmor Sequence Attack: Nebular Burst. Go back and take
the lift up now. Keep going and going. Go past the awkward camera angle area and
bust up the huge boulder. Go through the archway at the end of the linear path.
You’re now at a cross in the road. The way straight leads to never-ending Lava
Crawler ‘drop point’. Go left and bust up the obstacles there to gain a
Sculpture of the Future 7.
Make sure to destroy the small rocks at the four-way crossing too. They contain
build ups sometimes as well. Don’t mess with the left path anymore; instead head
towards the right path. Jump down and confront any Lava Crawlers that may rest
there. There is an out-of-place blue orb here. Step onto it to be transported to
a new section of the Main Field. Proceed across the bridge until it crumbles.
Afterwards, smash the nearby obstacles and make your way back up via the lift
targets. You should notice a Sea Diskarmor charger here, but ignore it for now.
Go up the steps a little bit and kill the Boxers first. Continue up the steps
and turn left at the top of them. Hop up the jagged ledge and go under the left
archway. Bust up the glowing statue there.
A Vellum Scroll 8 will find its way into your possession. Go right from where
the statue was. Follow this ledge, ignoring the lift target to you right, and
jump down to your right once you hit a wall. You should land on a narrow grassy
ledge. Follow this ledge for a while and turn right on it. There will be a lone
grass-covered pot up here. When the pot shatters, a Holy Sword will be revealed.
Attack up! Make your way back along the ledge and hop down. Visit the Sea
Diskarmor charge and charge up. Scale the steps once again, but jump down in the
pit near the lift target this time. Ignore the scattered orange pots and
approach the door at the top of the steps.
The door will become unsealed once you touch it. Go back and break the pots now.
After going through the door, you will recognize the place you’re in from just
before the Elysion Shrine. Go all the way back to where the cutscene suggests
and save your game. To the left of the save point, there is a lift target. Take
this lift target upwards. Once on the ledge, proceed forward, taking the hook
target. You should see your old friends the Catterpillars soon enough. They’re
still just as weak as always. Keep going, bashing up pots and columns in your
wake. You will soon reach two stone steps with a nearby lift target. Jump up the
steps and make use of the target.
You should have accumulated another 2000 build up points by now. If so,
strengthen your Heavenly Diskarmor to the maximum level. Proceed forward along
the path when you’re finished. Smash the obstacles in front of you and proceed.
Once you reach the swing targets, use them both in standard fashion to land
yourself on the opposite ledge. Once under the lift target, use it to reach the
rocky ledge above. Catterpillars will rise from the ground after you take a few
steps. This might look like an easy battle at first, and well it is, but you
should be wary of the Catterpillars surrounding you because there are a good
many that arise.
Many lift targets await you ahead. Use them all to navigate Rygar to the higher
ledges. On about the fourth ledge, a small one, you will see an obstacle. Crush
it to receive a Sound Chunk of the Future 7. Near the top, a lift target will
appear next to a blackish-blue pedestal. Ignore this lift target and continue
around to the other side of the golden tablets. Here, within a ring of small
pillars, is a glowing statue. Bust it open to retrieve a Holy Sword from within.
Backtrack and take the previous lift target now. At the top of this area is a
golden statue. It contains the ability to stomp! Stomping can be a bit trick to
do at first. Stand on the rim around the pedestal below and jump while facing
it. Press R1 while in the air and you will stomp on it. Repeat this on all of
the pedestals until the golden walls are gone.
Past the golden walls is a glider, except it isn’t operated by hands, but rather
by your Diskarmor. Take it almost all the way back to the save point. It is now
time to backtrack pretty far. Go all the way back to the door you entered this
area from, which is past the long row of broken columns and over the fallen,
golden metal slabs. Fight off any Boxers that get in your way. The first door on
the left is your goal, as the second door on the right leads to the Elysion
Shrine. Descend down into the area where the orange pots once were.
Catterpillars will arise from the ground and attack you here. Beat the fuzz off
of their backs and proceed to the stairway. You’ll notice a stomp target to your
left. Stomp it to cause some blocks to fall. They were actually the blocks above
the glowing statue. Go all the way back to the ledge you walked across earlier
to destroy the lone pot, but walk off the broken part just above the glowing
statue.
You should land to the left of the statue. Crack it open to find a Mystic Stone,
Persephone. Approach the blue orb afterwards. It isn’t possible to reach it by
crossing the bridge, so drop down. Walk through the opening in the wall directly
ahead of you, towards the stomp pedestal. Stomp the pedestal to cause the wall
in front of you to collapse. Walk over the wall, use the lift target, go to the
right and finally, use that lift target. You can reach the blue orb from here,
but if you’re low on health, you might want to go to the right and smash the pot
for Nectar. Whatever the case, approach the blue orb when you’re ready and enter
it. Go to your left after entering the orb and knock down the pillar in order to
gain access to the other side. Once on the other side, go left and jump into the
pit. Fight off the Lava Crawlers, use the lift target, approach the save point
and press square to use it. To the left of the save point is a glowing rock and
a stomp pedestal. Give that mean ol’ stomp pedestal a good stompin’ and then
smash open the glowing statue behind it.
You now have a Mystic Stone, Nike(I smell law suit!) in your possession. Now
it’s time to go all the way back and cross the fallen column once again.
Approach the lift targets/ledges near the blue orb and make your way up to the
top. Once at the top, continue straight, but watch out for the Fire Spiders.
There is a stomp pedestal at the end of the path. Stomp on it and the glowing
rock will disperse. Jump down.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C) Magma Cave
Events: Boss: Red Boa, Relief of the Future 10, Sculpture of the Future 8,
Vellum Scroll 4, Vellum Scroll 2, Boss: Centaurs, Sea Diskarmor Sequence Attack:
Charybdis, Vellum Scroll 3, Mystic Stone(Athena +4), Mystic Stone(Hera)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This area is filled with lava that will cause damage to you. Jump onto the
nearby platform and Red Boa’s health bar will appear on the screen. Make your
way to the opposite side of the room and smash the rocks to get ‘Relief of the
Future 10’.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #7: Red Boa
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make your way to the center platform, which is the largest in the room. Red Boa
pops up in three different places around this rock. One is in the lower left,
one in the upper right, and one to the right. When he pops up, he always spews
fire in the direction you’re standing, however, if you go around to his side, he
won’t alter his course. This is one way of hitting him, but you can also just
wait until he prepares to dive back into the lava. At this point, he will leap
into the air; hit him on his descent. I like to Summon Cerberus LV3 once during
this fight. Doing so will decrease about 1/3 of his health.
Once you get the hang of navigating the lava, Red Boa will be a piece of cake.
After the fight is over, jump onto the center rock across from the are you
entered Magma Cave from. There are several platforms ahead which you need to
cross. You will have to walk through the lava to cross a portion of this area.
After crossing these, continue forward and hang left. There will be a column in
the center of the lava. Bust up this column to find a Sculpture of the Future 8.
You will have to wade through the lava to reach it.
Jump up more ledges and enter the white archway. It’s a pretty straight path
from here to a save point, so take your time and make sure you bust up all of
the obstacles here. Use the save point at the end of the path before the cave
entrance. Upon entering the cave, another boss will show his face.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #8: Centaurs
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pull out your Sea Diskarmor here since it’s ideal for close range combat. With
Centaurs, strategy goes out the window. You’re going to get hit occasionally,
but you need to keep the pressure on him. The first part of the fight is the
easiest. Centaur will start on the far end of the room at the end of narrow
path. He will shoot arrows until you approach him. Slide towards him to avoid
the arrows. Approach him from the side and unload the most damaging combo you
can perform. I’ve taken away 1/3 of his health just by pressing square
repeatedly from this point. Centaurs will now charge to the opposite narrow
pathway and repeat his pattern. Do the same thing and get in a few more hits.
From here, Centaur will, either begin charging around in circles in the center
area, or repeat his first pattern.
If he does the latter, you know what to do. However, if he does the former you
should just repeatedly approach him from a perpendicular angle and hack away.
Twiddling your thumbs is suicide. Centaurs either shoots arrows straight into
the air(which are extremely hard to avoid) or shoot arrows diagonally. Make no
bones about it; you will take damage. However, this is really the only way to
combat Centaurs. Go through the nearby door once Centaurs falls. Be wary of the
acidic water on the other side of the room if you go near there. Outside the
room, you will see a pit with a ledge on the other side. Smash the boulder on
the right from a distance to reveal a ledge. Hop onto that ledge and hop across
the pit. A glowing statue rests on the other side. Inside is Athena +4. Drop
down into the pit now. To the left is a secret door, but don’t bother with it
for now. Instead continue along the linear trail. Just past the golden statue,
on your right, is a few obstacles. Inside one of them is Vellum Scroll 2.
Keep going until a cutscene occurs. You’re now in the room just past the one you
had previously entered. This seems suspicious, so go back to the previous room.
You will notice some golden ledges on the left wall. Hop up these ledges and
make your way across the following by jumping. You will soon come to a
horizontal gap with a platform on the right side. There is also a rock straight
in front of you, though. Crush this large rock and continue. Walk ever so slowly
off the ledge up ahead. You should land right beside a golden statue. Bust open
the golden statue to get: Sea Diskarmor Sequence Attack: Charybdis. Head back to
the room you were just in. Get on the golden ledges again and go onto the next
screen. Once on this screen, jump over the first two gaps then drop down.
You should fall on a ledge with a glowing statue at your side. Shatter the
statue to locate a Mystic Stone, Hera. Go back to the steamy area where you
appeared after the cutscene. Drop down where you see the lift target. Smash open
the obstacle nearby to acquire a Vellum Scroll 3. Return to the golden ledges
yet again and make your way upward. Just before the boulder that you destroyed,
jump the gap to the right. Ascend the stairs, use the Lion’s Head, and step onto
the teleporter in the middle of the room.
_______________________--World 6: Arcadia--______________________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Lion’s Road
Events: Mystic Stone(Notus), Ancient Tablet 1
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Arcadia! Watch your step! If you fall, you just start at the nearest
solid ledge. Once on the light colored platform, you will descend downward
slowly. Jump off and onto the next platform. Approach the lift target and use
it. This is another ‘Diskarmor glider’ that will take you across a huge gap.
Continue jumping over platforms until you reach a ‘Ferris Wheel’ type thing.
Except without the safety bars. Hop onto a platform when it comes near you and
jump off when it passes the land formation. Keep going forwards until you reach
another platform. This one will carry you into the air unless you jump off of it
quick. Jump towards the nearby ledge before the platform gets a chance. There is
a glowing statue here. There are also two floating pillars. Bust open the
floating pillars and you might get a Holy Sword. Inside the glowing statue is a
Mystic Stone, Notus.
Just jump off the edge now. You reappear right before the ‘Ferris Wheel’ type
platforms. Proceed to the fast rising platform again, but this time take it all
the way up and then dismount. Use the swing targets to reach the other ledge.
Follow the linear path until you reach another platform. Below this platform lie
many other platforms. Wait on this platform until another rises up from the
bottom. Mount the one that just rose and descend along with it. At the bottom,
jump onto the right-hand platform. This next series of jumps can be rather
frustrating because of the depth perception required by the camera angle.
Generally, if you hang towards the upper end of the platforms before making your
jumps, you will succeed. After about five or so jumps, you will see a few moving
platforms in the distance. Wait for the first of these to meet you. Hop onto it.
Ride it until it meets up with the second then hop onto that one. Ride this one
until you reach a ledge. Go onto the ledge via the lift target and smash the
glowing statue.
You will receive an Ancient Tablet 1 for your efforts. Wait for the next moving
platform. Mount it, but be prepared. You need to jump and latch onto the wooden
ledges in order to stay on the platform. Jump off the other wooden ledge to
land on the platform as it passes by. Mount the next platform and let it take
you to a larger island in the sky. A cutscene will occur here. Proceed towards
the swing targets ahead once the cutscene fades. This part can be a pain in the
ass. There are about 6-8 swing targets in all with a platform in between the
last two. As always, release at the height of your swing then tap square once,
quickly. If you do each jump in one swing, you should be able to land onto the
platform without having to wait patiently for it to rise. The last swing target
must be latched onto from the left side of the platform. Don’t try to jump and
latch onto it because that’s not necessary.
Once on the last swing target, jump off at the height of the swing and land on
solid ground. Breathe a sigh of relief then continue. Another Ferris Wheel of
platforms is ahead. Jump onto the first one that floats along. Ride it just
until you see the other platform nearby. Leap towards the other platform as soon
as possible because the one you’re on will descend sharply if you don’t. The
next moving platforms/jumps are pretty simple. After reaching the next large
island, you will find yourself inside Arcadia. Yay!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Arcadia Entrance
Events: Vellum Scroll 5, Sound Chunk of the Future 8, Boss: Icarus (second
encounter), Tackle, Boss: Typhon, Letter 1, Sound Chunk of the Future 9
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Approach the lion’s head to save. Break the statue to the right of the door you
entered from to gain custody of Vellum Scroll 5. Proceed through the exit. Low
and behold, a welcoming part of Fire Spiders awaits you! You must defeat these
anxious arachnids to unseal the door. Weave back and forth while jumping to
avoid their fireballs. Pulverize them once you’re in range. The door will become
unsealed. Bust open the first pillar you see to gain Nectar. Go left through the
door. Head straight while swinging your Diskarmor. It should connect with some
floating rubble. A Sound Chunk of the Future 8 will emerge when the rubble is
destroyed. Hop up on the rock and use the lift target nearby to continue.
Use the swing target to your left when you see it. Now, scale the steps to face
Icarus once again.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #9: Icarus (second encounter)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make no bones about it; Icarus is one tough cookie. You will more than likely
have to use an Ambrosia or Caduceus here unless you have a lot of Icol or use
Omphalos a lot. Icarus has three auras. They change according to the Diskarmor
that you’re hitting him with. Red corresponds to Hades, blue corresponds to Sea,
and green corresponds to Heavenly. Attack Icarus with Heavenly if he is red or
blue. Attack him with Sea if he is green. A lot of the time Icarus will block
your attacks no matter what, but this is the primary way to break through. This
is a long and grueling battle. To make it through, you will need to be good at
guarding.
Make sure to guard a lot, but you also need to know which attacks you can’t
guard. For one, the spark Icarus shoots while up in the air is unblockable.
Secondly, Icarus will twirl his swords in the air and then try to gut you with
them upon his descent. This attack is also unblockable. Generally, the rest of
his attacks are blockable. Some of his larger combos will occasionally break
through, but not too often. If you’re going to summon, make sure you’re at a
good distance and Icarus isn’t in aura transition. To avoid Icarus’ air attacks
run to one side and keep jumping. My favorite opportunity to attack Icarus is
right after a blocked charge. He will then be in a brief pose with his back to
you. Sea Diskarmor can often get three hits in at this point.
Once Icarus is beaten, he will fly off. The pillars you face after the fight
contain some valuables, such as a Divine Armor/Shield and Ambrosia. Halfway down
the staircase, just before the broken area is a path to the left. To the right
you will see a swing target. Follow the left path and then jump towards the
electrically charged pyramid type thing. You will land on a platform. Turn
around and walk back into the next room. A Hammer Guy is here. Keep your guard
up just before he attacks, then whack him with a combo afterwards. Once he is
beaten, the doors will unseal. Take the door straight ahead to find a golden
statue. Inside is the elusive 'Tackle’ ability. Now you are able to push all of
those glowing boxes in the game, but for now just push the box to your right
out. Return to the area where you fought Icarus and push the box there.
Continue forward until you reach a save point. Make sure to use it. Proceed into
the next room and watch the cutscene. A new boss awaits you afterwards.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #10: Typhon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This very odd boss is extremely tough. Don’t dally during the fight; instead,
charge him at the start. Fireballs can be avoided by jumping while running to
either side, but it’s rather hard to predict when the fire will be spewed. One
reason is that Typhon’s heads sometimes disappear from the screen making it hard
to see whether or not fire is coming out of its mouth. The only real viable
strategy here is to run side to side while jumping and swinging your
Diskarmor in mid-air. Eventually, either you or it will die. If you keep too
great a distance from Typhon, you will never be able to strike him. Always keep
as close as possible to him. Also, make sure to equip your Hades Diskarmor. The
other Diskarmors just don’t cut it here.
After one of the heads takes a certain amount of damage, it will shrivel up and
sink into the lava. Once the two outer heads are gone, wait until the middle
heads are in clear vision of you and Summon Cerberus LV3. If you miss once,
summon it again. If you miss both times, just die and start from your last save
point. It is extremely difficult to hit Typhon when he only has the 2 or 3
center heads left. Rygar will swear his victory on a feather once Typhon is
dead. The door to the left will become unsealed. Enter it and use the save
point. Now, move forward and push out the block. Hop up on the golden ledges and
push that block to the left as well. Go through the visible passage now. You
will find yourself in yet another hot steamy magma room. Hug the nearby wall and
bust up the first pile of rubble you see. Letter 1 is inside. Continue clock-
wise around the room. The pile of rubble just right of where you got Letter 1
contains a Nectar. The next one contains Pneuma.
These are all very helpful considering the challenges that await you. Further
over is a Sound Chunk of the Future 9. Once all is said and done, approach the
gate with tortured souls reaching out of it(isn’t there one of these in every
game?) Welcome to Tartaros, the last world.
_________________________--World 7: Tartaros--_____________________________
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A) Hades
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is a pretty short section. There are 4-6 oddly shaped rock(?) formations
that can be broken here. You might get a few build ups from them. Afterwards,
enter the center room, but don’t run too far into it. Several Dark Crawlers have
organized a sinister welcoming party for you here. I tend to enjoy using the
square, square, square, square, triangle combo on these. If executed right, it
will explode on the last strike. These things shouldn’t pose too much of a
problem. After the fight, circle around the room striking at everything
resembling an obstacle. One of them will contain a Divine Shield/Armor. Proceed
towards the door on the left side of the room when you’re finished.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
B) Tartaros
Boss: Minotaurs (dark version), Boss: Echidna, Boss: Cronus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Crush the odd pillars on the sides of this narrow path. Once you approach the
circle room in the center, prepare for a fight. Dark Crawlers and Dark Fiends
await you. Dark Fiends are very difficult to see, so keep both eyes open while
looking for them. The blue ovals on the sides of this room can be destroyed.
Once you’re finished, proceed down the next narrow hallway. Keep going until you
reach a clawed hand. In the pit below the clawed hand are lots of Dark Crawlers;
leap down when you are prepared. There are also several Dark Fiends here that
you should watch out for. I like to stay on the edge of the pit in order to keep
the creatures on one side of me. Thus, enabling you to hit them all in one
combo.
Once the enemies disperse, jump onto the clawed hand opposite the one you
entered this pit from. Whack the spongy substance barring your path. It will
disappear in a puff of blood. Destroy any blue ovals you see up ahead, then
prepare for a boss encounter.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #11: Minotaurs (dark version)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things are going to get pretty tough from now on. If you don’t have an Ambrosia
or Caduceus like me, you’re in trouble. One way I’ve found that works good
against Minotaurs is to stun him with a level 1 summon and then approach his
left side. Start pounding him immediately, and hopefully he will recoil. If not,
run around to his side while jumping and try again. Facing Minotaurs head on is
not a good idea because more bosses are ahead of him; they are more powerful
too. I’ve gotten Minotaurs to recoil three times after one stun. This amounts to
three square x4 combos from Hades Diskarmor.
That is around 2/5-2/4 of his health right there. Once he is beaten, use the
save point(preferably on a second slot). If you save over your main game and
find that you can’t beat the bosses ahead because you lost too much health to
Minotaurs – well, I’m sorry. In the next room is –
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #12: Echidna
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Echidna has four attacks. The two most common are her Breath of Darkness and
Spider Spit. Icol is your biggest asset in this battle. I suggest you use Hades
Diskarmor for this fight. If you have an Omphalos, it is possible to beat
Echidna without getting hit once. Firstly, walk straight up to Echidna, stand in
here face, and Summon Cerberus LV1. Echidna will now stunned. Perform the
square, square, square, square, triangle combo with Hades Diskarmor. This will
take about 1/6 of Echidna’s life if done correctly. You can summon again
immediately after doing this combo to set Echidna up for another combo. However,
at some point in the fight you need to smash the rocks around the room. Failure
to do so will mean going to Cronus without a Nectar boost and a valuable
Ambrosia.
Unfortunately, if you don’t have an Omphalos, you will have to collect Pneuma by
defeating spiders. This can be a bit tricky. Heavenly Diskarmor works nicely.
However, it has a pretty nasty recovery time. I like to use a two-hit combo from
Hades Diskarmor AFTER repelling the spiders with guard. The spiders explode on
impact with you unless you’re guarding. They are stunned after you successfully
guard. Bring your guard up after performing the two-hitter. When the fight is
over, Echidna will alter the dimension causing you to sink into the area below
where Cronus awaits-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss #13: Cronus
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cronus is actually pretty easy. It’s a death wish to approach him, so wait for
him to teleport on the other side of the room. While waiting, he will launch
some attacks, but they can be dodged by jumping and running to one side.
Generally, he will fire 2-3 attacks then teleport across the room. Once he
arrives, pound him. I prefer Hades Diskarmor for this fight, but then again – I
prefer it for almost every fight. Use the same combo that you used on Echidna to
damage Cronus: square, square, square, square, triangle. Repeat this by running
to the other side of the room while dodging any attacks Cronus might throw at
you. Once he teleports, you know what to do.
There is really only one variable that you have to watch out for. This comes in
the form of Cronus dimension warp. He will rise into the sky and fire will rain
down on the edges of the battlefield. Stick to the center, but don’t stay in one
spot, and you should be fine. If you have any Icol left, use a LV1 summon to
cancel the dimensional warp. Cronus should die in due time.
