in first-person as Jack Driscoll AND experience the staggering power of
King Kong in third-person taking on massive beasts.

   * Cinematic Quality - By integrating Weta assets directly into the game
engine, and taking a true cinematic approach, from both a visual and
audio perspective, players are thrust directly onto the Skull Island
where the dark jungles, over-sized environment and lurking danger become
     reality.

   * Cooperate with Your Expedition Team - Each team member plays a crucial
role and complements each other with valuable skills and abilities. The
player relies on them and vice-versa to succeed. The unique resource

creatures featured in the film challenge players' nerves and skills in fighting
the savage beasts created by Weta - some of which are exclusive to the game.

universe realized via inclusion of film cast member's likenesses and
voice-over.

                         (V-H) VERSION HISTORY (V-H)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.00 ~ 12th November 2005.
====

Spotted a "Free King Kong demo" coupon in the paper today, so after cutting it
out and exchanging it for the game, I felt compelled to write a guide. Well,
truth be told, I'd already played the demo on the XBox more than 2 weeks before
hand. In my opinion, the PS2 version is weaker than the XBox release...

Anyway, walkthrough is here. Control section was skipped due to frustration.
(I drew up a table of controls only to have a disk-error and erasing the whole
file...)

                              1.a. The Demo
                       -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

Welcome to the Demo. A total of two massive levels are avaliable to play from;
one being from the view-point of human Jack Driscoll as he fends off an
attacking T-REX, and the other in the form of the man himself (or rather large,
strong and scary ape)...KONG!

Pick your level and play it out...

                            1.b. Chased by T-REX
                         -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

The game throws you into the first level without a cutscene, but don't worry,
you're safe from danger. You start just outside of a small shelter where your
group huddelled under to avoid the storm, but they must move on.

Before you go off and follow them, just hang back and admire the awe-inspiring,
jaw-dropping effects and graphics. The sounds above as the lightening strikes
and thunder bellows across the heavens...the wide-screen first-person
perspective...the dancing flames as they rise and fall in the fire. Beutiful.
Nothing short of a Ubisoft title. Once you've gauped for long enough, try
practising with the controls by running through the shelter and around the
next corner. Easy controls, eh? As you pass through the shelter, a pop-up box
will inform you of how to aim and shoot, so try out equiping your weapon by
holding the Left Trigger down. Because the game is more cinematic than most,
it has no reticle or aim indicator, but if you want one, I suppose here is a
good chance for you to customise the Options. Hit Start and head to the
appropriate menu, where you can change tbe camera mode via the VIDEO option, or
add the Aiming Visor by going into INTERFACE. Once you're happy, resume the
game.

Head through the entrance, through the cave and then up the steps. Your friends
will be waiting for you, so drop down and walk over to them. As you approach, a
figure will appear on the wooden bridge above. He'll scream and tell you about
some monster, but by now you'd already have heard the roars. Watch as he's
plucked from the bridge and chomped by the T-Rex, along with the rest of his
team. ...Oh crap! RUN! You can act all heroic and fire off your Tommy Gun at
him, but it'd be a waste of ammo! Just turn around and run through the stone
structure with the rest of your group, slowing the Rex down. The other two will
head for the large gate and begin to open it, but they need time, and if that
Rex gets to them, it's all over. Set yourself up behind one of the rocky walls
in the area and take aim. Don't open fire until he smashes the final part of
the rock wall, or else you'd waste heaps of ammo. Once he does venture into
your area, open fire on his head, but only enough for him to spot you and come
stomping your way. When he does, make a break around it and pick up one of the
spears on the ground by holding the Right Trigger next to them. Now spin around
and using the same aiming methods as the gun, throw the spear, and hope you hit
something tender. I always go for the head of it, mainly the eye, but just as
long as you hit him it doesn't matter.

You need to keep this beast from attacking your friends, so stay away from that
gate. You also need to save yourself if you hadn't noticed! So stay behind
cover and never be in the open, otherwise it's Jeff Goldblum everytime and this
big boy'll take a chunk out of you.

Now, you're not killing this monster, but distracting it, so don't expect
emptying your whole magazine on him will take him down. Hide, and if he heads
for your friends, pelt him with a spear or a few rounds to his head. Also, the
T-Rex is hungry and will always go for dead prey rather than you, so shoot down
or spear the flying monsters from the sky for a break in combat.

After a short while, the gate will be lifted and your friends run off through
it. As soon as you heard the cries of "Jack! This way! The door's open", run
your ass off to that gate and into the next area. Don't worry about where you
friends go off to, just pelt yourself straight forward and into the building
dead ahead of the gate and to the back of the cave. The dino will come back and
begin to attack, but if you're at the back of the cave, the falling debris
won't harm you. Just stay back here until your friend says he's glad you're
with him to end the level...

                     -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
                       2.c. Kong vs. 1st T-REX
                     -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

You've played as man, now play as Beast! Oh, yes. The moment you've been
waiting for. Big Daddy Kong is coming to town and he don't take no monkey
business from anybody. Watch the short cutscene and then be ready for some
furious Dino-to-Monkey action.

Fighting is not a good idea at the moment, not sice Kong's holding Ann at the
moment, so you need to put her down before dealing out some furry justice. Run
around the area until you find a ledge, and just walk into the wall to make
Kong climb it. Once you're uo there, hit O to place her down. She'll run off
and then climb back down again to escape the fight and save herself, but don't
worry about that for now. Jump back down to the fighting arena and begin to
smack that dumbo of a dino up. A massive selection of combos are avaliable for
Kong to use, so just experiment with all that Kong's got.

Some helpful hints are for you to move around a lot and attack from the rear,
but mind that tail! It might just end up in Kong's groin (which does hurt him)
and knock him back. Also, instead of this fighting lasting a long time until
one dies, end it by knocking the opponent to the floor and then grabbbing him
with the O Button, before hammering the O button again to administer a bone
crushing slam, complete with infamous chesting-beating victory dances. After
the dino's given up the fight and died, Ann will caught in a pinch by two more
f these beasties! Welcome to a fun portion showing off all of Kong's awesome
abilites.

Head forward and using the O Button repeatedly, lift up the fallen pillar which
blocks the gateway. When it's clear, smash through the gate with one of Kong's
attack before running through and up the steps. When the pop-up box appears,
hit X to watch Kong jump through the air and begin to swing on that pole. When
he lands, hit X again to make him swing to the next one, before repeating and
landing on the wall of vines.

Head right across the wall and then jump down to the swing-pole and then onto
the land. Here, you'll be attacked by swarms of baby Rexes who'll want to take
you down, but they're no match for you. Using all that you learnt from the
previous fight, mince up the whole of the dinosaurs and crush them into the
ground. Once the hordes stop and no more come, head to the bambo gate and smash
it open. Climb the hill and swing across to the wall of vines via swing pole.
Clamber along right and then hit X to jump across to the opposite wall,
following it to the swing-pole at the end. Jump onto it and then hit X to fly
into the next fighting arena. You will land on another one of the swing poles,
so use it to your advantage. Build up some momentum and then release to land on
top of one of the dinosaurs, pushing him to the floor. Now he's down, hammer
into him with some punches. He'll get up, but whilst he's doing that, lay into
his friends with a couple of grabs and punches.

Now, in this fight, you're working against two dinos, but that's not all, since
these ones can go for Kong's neck. If they do happen to get a chance, Kong will
grab their jaws, but it requires you to hammer the A button to fight back,
otherwise he'll take a bite straight out of your neck. I can't give you any
more help, since its a fight, so practise and learn some combos. Once Kong has
lifted them both in the air and slammed them into the ground, he'll beat his
chest with a bellowing roar before being captivated by the beauty of Ann.

..Dun...dun...dun...The demo ends, and what a demo that was! A cinematic
action-adventure section with man, and a brutal platforming/fighting section
as Kong. What will become of Jack and co in those caves? And what will happen
between Ann and our furry friend? Only time will tell...
