General Tips [GG04gts]
= = = = = = = = = = = =

Freestyle Requirement:
Highflyer      : dunk 85, jump 85, speed 75
Playmaker      : pass 80, drib 85, o.awn 81
Power          : dunk 85, strg 85, hardi 80
Outside Scorer : f.g. 80, drib 80, o.awn 87
Inside Scorer  : f.g. 75, i.sc 80, o.awn 85
Shooter        : f.g. 80, 3-pt 80, freeT 85
Inside Stopper : d.reb 80, block 80, d.awn 80
Outside Stopper: speed 85, steal 80, d.awn 80

360 Windmill dunk:
Highflyer like Kobe Bryant can do different 360 windmill dunk (Right
analog stick reverse clockwise from 3 to 12 and trigger) than LeBron
James (Right analog stick rotate clockwise from 3 to 6 and trigger)
There are only 2 dunk package available (as in my NBA live 07 in PS2
Platform) for Highflyer and Power player whereas general package are
up to 16.

Shooting Tips:
Normally press circle button and release it before jump reaching peak
Some player are good at quick release, it's hard to tell who are.
Short player who cannot dunk, try to use circle shoot instead of
using square button when he is very very very near to basket.

Playmaker Glitch:
No matter the player is freestyle playmaker or freestyle superstar
playmaker, he is still displayed as freestyle superstar player in
the freestyle player list as at PS2 platform.

Max display:
When you purposely dominated a game and scored over 500 points,
it will only displayed as 500 at your dynasty calender for the game.
When you scored over 700 or 800 points, the game may stop record
stat anytime, but individual stat and team stat will be record at
stat central. I never try to score over 1k, so I do not know the
result. You can actually score very points through cheating by
controlling both teams with your control. The fastest way is inbound
to player who standing out lane and another team shoot 3 pointer.

Roster Management:
Some people do not know how to switch player which is new added in
team during match when their team roster is beyond 12 player.
Actually, before the match itself, you should go into your roster
management's Inactive Roster list to do arrangement for your roster.
Those new created player are mostly being set as inactive roster
when the team is stack with too many player.

Roster Name:
NBA live 07 new feature included calling new created roster's name
during the match. But there is condition to be calling out their
name instead of jersey number. Roster's name must be found in game's
original roster name pool. Likewise, if you name a player with first
name is Claxton, his name shall be called during the match but not
his jersey number. Even if you put a player's last name as Jordan,
He will be called as Jordan in game. Note: There is a player name
Speedy Claxton and Jordan Farmar in Hawks and Lakers. All default
roster's last name and first name are included in roster name pool.

Blocking:
It is easier for fresh player learn how to block by blocking normal
PF, SF or even C rather than SG and PG. This is because normal PF,
SF and C dunk more frequency than shoot. Fresh player can learn
blocking by catching the timing. After that, PG's layup are easy to
block also, as long as the PG is laying up the ball as normal style.
There are some super short PG who can't even perform a smooth layup
always like to throw the ball slighty vertical in air and they (PG)
themselves felt on floor, this kind of layup is hard to block for
fresh man. However, most layup are easy to block. The 2nd hardest
thing to block is shoot block. When you want to block someone who
is shooting to the basket, it's really need good timing! And the
hardest to block is freestyle superstar's skill. You can be admire
by all the player around the world if you can block the Freestyle
Superstar Highflyer in game more than 20 times. Shaq with Power
Freestlye Superstar skill is really unstoppable! Trying to block
them will also cause you giving out cheap free throws for them.
If you wonder why I said some PG are hard to block, maybe you should
try up to play a couple of game versus Jason Kidd and Earl Boykins.
Earl Boykins is much more difficult to block compare to Jason Kidd,
and this is not the matter of skill, but is their height. Kidd's
Layup is easier to block where as Boykins' layup isn't the "formal"
lay up did by other guards, you will know what kind of Lay-up is it
and you play more with him. Otherwise, PG is pretty easy to block
compare to Highflyer or Power SuperStar.

Inactive Roster:
Sometimes when you add in a new created roster in a team that
already has 12 players can't be played or sub during the game.
This is because the new roster is categorised as inactive roster.
Just simply go to the inactive roster management tab to change
the roster's role in team.

Head Band Tips:
For those created player if you wish to let them have head band on
their head, you would need to pick short short hair for them and
there is only 1 long hair style (Sort of Nash old hair style) which
can have head band on it.

NBA Record:
When you tying NBA records, there is no way to have your record
tier co-holder's name being record. Means, if your player scored
100points in match and your current record for highest point in
a game is still W.C.'s 100 points, your player's name will not be
recorded as co-holder, only until your surpass then your name being
record.

Double action:
There is a special feature in this game, and it is double action (I
name it myself). For example, you can press dunk button again while
you are attempting a dunk (tap dunk twice), the player in control will
change his dunk/ lay-up style. It can be done with other combination
such as pass while doing jump shot (tap pass before player release the
ball). This is a nice trick to use when you are playing against real
player and AI as well. Changing action while drawing contacts makes
the game looks more reality.

Saving achievement:
When you get final MVP, season MVP, All-star MVP, retired jersey and
etc in dynasty mode, you will always like to save them up. But the game
requires you to keep the dynasty save as well other than the setting
save. This is because I realize that I lost my retired jersey of
LeBron James when I overwrite my CAV dynasty save file with my LAL
dynasty file. At first, I thought it was saved solely on setting file,
but when my LAL dynasty reach season #20 (I retired James jersey at
season #19), my retired jersey of LeBron James is gone and so all the
prize previously gained.
PS: I hope someone is willing to help me test this glitch.

Toss list [SD05tsl]
= = = = = = = = = =

If you want to master the skill of self alley-oop in SD contest.
You might have to learn how to toss the ball and que the correct
timing. The following is the list of toss style.

RAS control (# indicate the direction shows in regular analog clock)
1. Push left or right = shoot toss
2. Push up = scoop toss
3. Push down = toss down and bounce the ball
4. CW from 3 to 9 = turn back and perform down toss ball and bounce
5. RC from 9 to 3 = same as above but different side
6. Full CW from 3 = place ball on floor and do football gather toss
7. Full RC from 9 = same as above but place different side
8. Push and Hold left = toss the ball below right leg
9. Push and Hold right = use elbow to hit the ball
10. Push and Hold up = half squat double hand scoop toss
11. Push and Hold down = tennis style toss down and bounce
12. CW from 3 to 6 and Hold down = sit down and toss the ball
13. RC from 9 to 6 and Hold down = same as above but different side
14. CW from 9 to 12 or RC from 3 to 12 = turn back and toss ball up
15. CW from 3 to 6 or RC from 9 to 6 = turn back and toss ball down
16. CW from 6 to 9 = toss ball from left back using right hand
17. CW from 6 to 9 and Hold left = left knee hit toss
18. CW from 6 to 3 = right hand punch ball toss
19. CW from 6 to 3 and Hold right = butt toss
20. RC from 6 to 3 = right leg lift, toss ball under leg and bounce
21. RC from 6 to 3 and Hold left = right knee hit toss
22. RC from 6 to 9 = place ball behind and toss
23. RC from 6 to 9 and Hold right = right leg kick from left side

(While All-Star SD contest, contribute by bumdude)

Press D-pad left / right while tossing ball:
throw off-screen hit left / right Big Screen.

Press D-pad up / down while tossing ball:
throw off-screen hit clock or whatever up.

**The distance you throw the ball is variable due the distance how
far you stand away from the basket. Training Off-Screen tossing is
hard, because it can only be done in SD contest. There is an easy
way to master it, just simple get in SD contest mode and toss it
until the time runs out, just simply restart the SD contest and you
will be able to continue to practise, but make sure you set yourself
as the 1st dunker and need no to wait till other dunker finish their
moves. You can also have a look the score of you attempted dunk,
even failed to dunk in the ball, you still got the points. By the
way, you are able to realize your true potential of dunks made
through the points given, it does motivate you!**

Additional Example List [SD06ael]
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

These are some example provided from me myself to share with you.
Fun Dunks probably not a good dunk use in SD contest mode since it
gives you not much point in SD contest (Except Jordan's 1 hand
windmill tricks)

*RAS # indicate toss skill from toss list

Fun Dunks:

Start from 3-pt line left / right wing, S, L1+T
=Carter's pump dunk

Start from 3-pt line left / right wing, S, L1+O
=Kobe's Nike commercial dunk (reversed)

Start from 3-pt line left wing, S, L1+X
=left pass to right hand and clutch before dunk

Start from 3-pt line left wing, L1+O, L1+O
=combination of two special tricks

Start from inner of 3-pt line, S, S
=Jordan's vertically stretch dunk

Start from right side between curve and straight 3-pt line, S, L1+S
=Jordan's 1 hand windmill tricks.
This dunk gives your descent score.
IT IS A NICE DUNK TO LEARN OR PRACTICE HOW LONG THE
'In Air Tricks' SHOULD BE HOLDED.

The following dunks probably help's you earn some point in SD
Contest! In SD Contest, self alley-oop GENERALLY have higher point
compare with normal dunks.

Scoring Dunks:

Start from 3-pt line justify to the paint side line (it is somewhere
near center of the downtown), d-pad left or right + RAS #9, T, T
=elbow the ball off the screen and back dunk it, auto-score 50

Start from side line of 3-pt line or outside back the board, X, O
=time saving skill

Start from center of 3-pt line, RAS #14, T, T
=back toss and ordinary back dunk

Start from center of 3-pt line, RAS #10, T, O
=remember the way he dunks in SD comic?

Start from 3-pt line left wing, RAS #1, T, T
=way Desmond Mason dunks in SD contest

Start from center of 3-pt line, RAS#4/5, X, T/O
=Wade's dunk at the game menu of NBA live 2006

Start from center of 3-pt line, RAS#1, O at ft-line, X
=just a ordinary clutch dunk.

=dunk with fast finishing move ends

Start from center court, RAS#2, T, Any (X best)
=a nice move to practice for long range dunk

Start from center of 3-pt line, RAS#12/13, X at ft-line, Any tricks
=sit toss dunk

Start from center court, RAS#6/7, X before inner circle, O
=football style dunk

=====================================================================
Dunks provide by other player for Slam Dunk in NBA Live 06
=====================================================================

The followings are the dunk provided by Rodney Ryan

Those dunk are written down in X-box control format.
R & L represent the two trigger while others you may find it through
the list provided right at the basic control list.

Holding L and b as soon as you pass the 3 point line you can do a
cartwheel and combining it with any other dunk gives you pretty good
points.

Holding L and B in the air and releasing b when the ball goes under
your leg and touches other hand and you will pull off a between both
legs dunk with the right timing this dunk gives you 50 all the time.

Holding r and l and tap x twice and hold y until last second and you
will do vince carter's arm in rim dunk  but you will go to your armpit
and get either 50 or 49 every time.

From the back corner behind the net hold r and then tap b and hit b
again when the ball touches your other hand and you will be a 180
under both legs dunk which scores great points.

Holding down R the whole way tap y near the foul line then twirl the
left joystick twice (fast)then hold y uuntil the player is finished
his first turn then let go of y and you will complete the the second
turn automatically and do a 720 dunk which is the best dunk in the
game and scores 50 everytime but is near impossible to find timing
right for this dunk but when you get it right it's great.

The statue of Liberty Dunk- if you press y and twirl the right
joystick ccw then hit b you will perform the statue of liberty 360
dunk nice dunk and gets descent scores in high 40's or 50 if performed
perfect also a 360 between the legs dunk which is not that hard to
perform gets 50 most of the time i found that strange . There is a
second way to do the 720 but instead of completeing the second spin
you only turn half the way and dunk it two hands backwards so it's
more of a 540 reverse dunk still gets huge points and looks cool.not
totally sure how to do this i have hit accidently trying to do a 720.
Also very interestingly while doing a 720 after you tap y and complete
the 2 spins it doesn't matter what button is pushed you still do the
720.

The back dunk - jump with x the hold L and hit b and he will pull it
behind his back and release b when it reaches his other hand .this
dunk gets 50 most of the time.and the cover the eyes dunk is pretty
cool but only gets like 45 in a dunk contest but is easy to do if your

The following dunk contribute by Pearl Moore

hold down the TURBO modifier(R on gamecube), then press 1-foot 180
gather. instead of ringing a 720, make a 540 then hold down the
other modifier and press any other dunk knob. same timing like the
720,you let go whatever dunk knob used after the player makes the
first spin in the air.

The following dunk contribute by James Story

First an interesting thing with the Vince Carter arm in the rim dunk,
if you hold the trick button down longer, the dunker stays in the rim
and points to the crowd, and you get a higher score!

MJ/ Desmond Mason Side 2 Side Dunk: Start from the side, R1 Square-
Jump, L1 Triangle-Trick

180 Between Legs Dunk: Going Straight To Basket, R1 Triangle-Jump,
R1 Triangle-Trick

Double Between The Legs: Going Straight To Basket, R1 Circle-Jump L1
Circle-Trick
(Tip: Make sure you hold the trick down long enough, its abit longer
on this dunk)

Under the Legs: Behind The Basket, R1 X-Jump, R1 Circle-Trick
(Note: This has difficult timing)

Frequently Asked Questions [SD07faq]
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

Q: How do I perform toss dunk?
A: Use RAS to toss ball and perform the tricks on cue.

Q: I follow your additional dunk list but it doesn't works, why?
A: You must figure out the exact timing and location.
It is hard to explain the location very details.

Q: Why I can't perform (any) dunk well?
A: Some dunk need to hold ¡°In Air Tricks¡± a bit longer and
some need to rotate LAS to dunk successfully.

Q: Why I always run out of time to perform dunk in the SD contest?
A: Don't perform self alley-oops when time is running out.
Try perform the simple basic Jordan's dunk or other dunk.
(most dunk from back of board give more score).
Practice more before entering contest.

Q: Why I perform the same dunk as others do, but score different?
A: Try holding your ¡°In Air Tricks¡± a bit longer before you dunk.
And there rumors said having less attempts may affect your score.

Q: Why most tosses are performed by right side?
A: I have no idea whether other different handed-player
may have different style a not, since i use Kobe to test.
Sorry, and I hope you can tell me the result if you test it out.

Q: Accidentally toss ball into basket before dunk, does it counts?
A: I'm sorry that I'm not sure what will happen during SD contest.
Since I never try it before.
Toss in basket while training is nothing.
Anyone who knows the result, please have an e-mail to me.
Thank you.

Q: How should I win over my friend in SD Showdown Contest?
A: Well, there are two hint I can give. 1st, you might have to
practise more before you play SD showdown Contest with others to
avoid fail dunking in contest since it's sucks to minus point.
2nd, try to use normal dunk such as s + T, O, X, S or T + O, X and
others. Only use special self alley-oop dunk which you are pretty
confident that you can do it prefectly when it cames to the money
ball which gives you double! Another case is use self alley-oop
dunk when your point is far below than your opponent.

Try to shoot the ball by pressing the circle instead of other button
so that you can indirectly train your skill of shooting FG in normal
game play. Even though it is slightly different in 3 point shoot out
and normal game play in respect of releasing time, it just a matter
to let yourself get use of using circle button.

Furthermore, in 3 point shootout, you should release the ball before
the player leap's reach the peak in order to sunk the ball in basket.
When you are getting pro, you should always try to pick the ball as
fast as you can once you made a shot to save your time in contest.

Always concentrate on your player motion instead of keep on concern
the time left and scores. Start of with pro shooter for easier
training and set the contest in Rookie stage slowly accordingly to
your needs for advanced training.

Note: Every player in each team can be used in 3 point shootout.

reddhundred's trade tips [SF03rtt]
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

This is the trade tips provided by reddhundred at message board.
I included it because I afraid this thread lost.

"Here's my tip...
You need to look at the Team interest bar of other team then.
If he has still spots available on his roster,
trade two players for example.
(I've done this one with my franchise)
I want Chris Bosh (88) on my team,
the raptors badly need a SG.
So I traded Jason Terry (83) with a rookie PF (64) for Chris Bosh.
That's it, you cleared up some space and lose a mid-class player,
and a newbie for a Young and talented one.
Ask for more!!!
My Dallas dynasty has Pau Gasol, Andrea Bargnani,
Morrison and Dwight Howard for my back-up C and PF!!!!
I traded 2 players for each including old and declining players
like Anthony Johnson, George, Chroshere, Dampier
and some cheap unsigned rookies that is worth 412K or 770K.

DENVER
trade Martin 84 and a cheap one for Bosh 88. He's younger and better

Blazer team who want to keep Roy and Aldridge.
trade players who are declining & a cheap player you seldom use.
For example trade magloire and a player for Okafor.
Or trade Miles for Morrison coz you already have Travis Outlaw.
Or of you want Chris Bosh on your team trade randolph and
another 65-70 rated cheap player for him.
Then you'll have a young and talented team.
B'coz Blazers is stacked with average players that eats too much cap,
Try trading lafrentz too cuz you already have too many Big man.
If you want to have a PG also try j. nelson or Jordan Farmar.
Some good and young players who are very good for starting a team
(that is if you train them very well):
Dwight Howard, Josh Howard, Iguodala, darko, Bynum and Farmar.
But try having a Scoring Power Forward,
A defensive Center, an Athletic SG or SF,
two backup shooters and a playmaker PG on your team.
Also if you dont want Chris Bosh.
try getting Joe Johnson trade him with a 75 PF & a 70-75 SG.
Just match Atlanta's Salary cap."

Simulation games problem.
I once saw lakers with Kobe with highest apg in team and
Odom highest ppg and rpg in team.
Simulation games are really go according to player's overall stat.
Somehow, will find that taller player in simulated games plays better
than shorter player and awareness stat may affect their gameplay.
Sometimes it just go according what a team really needs.
Maybe your team have good defensive player and the AI may used them
to play defensive more often by giving up offensive chance to guards.

I created a custom player named Micheal Jordan with every stat over
90+ but strength 60+ (Don't wanna give him power type freestyle),
ends up assist plus defensive player in chicago while Gordan
takes most of the shot and Wallace takes most of the reb
(note: his apg not even the highest in team).
His game performance is significantly not reflecting his true stat.
No matter I switch his main post to PF, SF, SG or PG
(Never try C before), his performance didn't seems to change much.
Note:
I set his both O & D aware 99 before experiment the simulated games.

Kobe & Shaq post:
Kobe and Shaq. I know this is could be outdated...

But somehow, I still miss those days Kobe & Shaq duo together.
There are so many feeling pop out constantly when I'm watching
the video at youtube below

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=beeJyTxLk8E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m86N70fC8Ns

For me, Kobe & Shaq duo is the best duo in the history not even
Magic-Jabber, Jordan-Pippen & other duo can compare with them.
From stranger to teammate to ultimate partner to hating each other
to separated to opponent and friend again, i bet those event will
become their best memories for a whole life time. Each of them
giving each other huge impact.

Shaq is getting old and can't play as good as he was young.
Somemore he is always getting in foul trouble easily. He should
play better at Miami, since people keep on saying Kobe a big
ballhog but still Shaq can average ppg more than 25 during
Kobe-Shaq Dynasty period, then he basically have to score more
at Miami if there is no player in Miami who people think is a
ballhog. I know he is aging, he still have the potential of putting
at least 20 points in every night, I believe he can. Unlike Webber
who is ... (Sorry I'm not really want to criticize Webber, sorry
to Webber fans)

Not to say Kobe Shaq duo is better than Jordan Pippen duo.
The calculation is not very scientific enough I think.
They are different type of combo, so can't really compare them.
Afterall, I mean no offend to anyone,
loving Kobe Shaq duo is my personal view.
