See the 5 character code next to each entry below? It's there to make
navigating this FAQ much simpler. Press CTRL+F together, type the 5 character
code next to the entry you are looking for, and press enter twice. You'll be at
the appropriate section. Awesome. This method works in many programs I have
tested it in, such as Notepad and Microsoft Word. I'm sure it's similar in most
programs though.

Minor change to Puppies 49, 50 and 51 and Puppies 52, 53 and 54 info that
had been bugging me. Yes you can get back to this area without fighting a
boss if you miss them later in the game USUALLY!
This FAQ is Copyright of Matthew Stephenson (Ringworm), 2005. The following
sites are the only ones that have permission to host ANY of my FAQs:
www.gamefaqs.com
www.neoseeker.com
Want to host this FAQ? Found it on another site not listed above? Let me know:
ringwormrulez[at]gmail[dot]com
I may let you host it. Ask. The only requirement is you post the ENTIRE FAQ,
UNEDITED. No changing any of it, and it has to be all there. Try to keep it
updated as well; the most recent version will always be found at GameFAQs.
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION BEFORE HOSTING THIS! If not, you are in breach
of the law. Obviously, you can not make profit from this guide by selling it or
anything similar. Once again this is illegal. You can make a copy for personal
usage though if you're that way inclined. I got no problems with that. It's
your printer ink and paper you are wasting.
Got a question or got some info you feel should be included? Again the best way
to contact me is by emailing:
ringwormrulez[at]gmail[dot]com
I may take a while to respond, just letting you know. Also, make sure what you
want to ask is not covered already. Generally, I respond to anybody that needs
help. If I feel the FAQ makes it perfectly clear, and you just haven't read it
properly though, I may not.
IF YOU DO EMAIL ME: Include the game name, or something that makes it obvious
what it's about. I will NOT read ANY emails with attachments, or ones with no
subject line.
I'd like to take some time to thank the people that have helped with this
guide. Firstly, I'd like to thank Squaresoft and Disney for making the game,
and Sony for the PS2. This is a game I'll most likely play for many years. The
webmasters that host this FAQ should get a bit of credit too I guess, as you
wouldn't be reading this otherwise. I'd also like to thank you, the reader, for
choosing this guide, and I hope I helped in some way. Also, to all the people
that have emailed me with questions and suggestions since the first update,
thank you. It's helped me know which sections of the guide needed the most work
and clarification.

One of the numerous sidequests in Kingdom Hearts is to recover Pongo and
Perdita's missing puppies – all 99 of them! This guide will assist you in doing
this by explaining where they can all be found, as well as what you need to
find each puppy. Some other information on the 101 Dalmatians is also included.
When you are looking around Traverse Town for the first time, chances are you
will stumble across the Dalmatians' House in the Second District. It's located
at the far end of the area (if you enter from the First District), in a space
between two buildings on the right hand side. You can also enter from the
Alleyway area of the Second District. In any case, once you enter the Piano
Room, you will be told about the sidequest. You can't find any puppies until
after you have defeated Guard Armor though. Leon also mentions the sidequest if
you talk to him in the cafe immediately after defeating this boss.
The dalmatians are always found in chests. You will find 3 puppies in each
chest, so you will need to find 33 chests to complete the sidequest. These
chests are located over various worlds and areas throughout Kingdom Hearts.
Happy Hunting!
You are probably wondering at this point why you'd want to waste your time
doing this. Obviously, the sidequest has some point to it, or it wouldn't be
included. Here are a few reasons you should want to collect all 99 puppies,
from least important, to most important:
1. Satisfaction and completion.
If you are like me, you want to complete all sidequests in a game. It feels
like you haven't finished the game if you don't do this. Really though, you can
just breeze through the game without worrying about finding any puppies. No big
deal. It won't really affect the game, except for possibly making it a bit
harder. You also won't get:
2. Special Secret ending.
Finding all 99 puppies is one of 3 requirements for obtaining the Special
Secret ending. This is a video preview of Kingdom Hearts 2 that is shown after
the credits have finished. To unlock it you need to have:
- Found all 99 puppies.
- Sealed all keyholes (including 100 Acre Wood), and defeated Parasite Cage
twice in the Monstro level.
- Beaten Rock Titan in the Hades Cup.
Still not convinced it's worthwhile?
3. Bonus Items.
If you return to the Dalmatians' House after collecting some puppies, you may
get a short cut scene. Pick up the pink box after this and you will receive one
or more gifts from Pongo and Perdita as a reward. The following table lists the
gifts given, and the amount of puppies required to obtain that gift. Remember
you will find 3 puppies at a time, so divide the number of puppies required by
3 to find how many chests are required for each gift.
Nice! The final reward is definitely worth the effort, you can make the
ultimate gummi ship then, as the default one is not great. The aero spell you
receive depends on which you have learnt previously. If you have the aero
spell, but not aerora, you will get the second level spell. Seeing as this
upgrade is located in a chest in the same room as the chest containing
Dalmatians #85-87, this is an unlikely scenario. It will most likely be aeroga
– a very useful spell. Most of the intermediate rewards are also handy (maybe
not the mythril shard); the Torn Page is essential for completing the 100 Acre
Wood, and obtaining the Special Secret ending.
The following section shows exactly where each group of dalmatians can be
found. This will include any necessary abilities required before you can rescue
them. It also lists which room the puppy will return to in Pongo and Perdita's
house. This last one is mainly trivial, but you may find it interesting.
The order shown is generally the order the puppies can be found in, starting
from the beginning of the quest. As some levels can be played in a different
order (for example, you can play the Coliseum level before Wonderland if you
wish), you may find certain puppies before or after where I have them listed
here.

5.10. Clean Up Time! (KHCUT)
_________________________________________________
Dalmatians 1, 2 and 3: (KH001)
Location: Traverse Town, outside Mystical House
Abilities required: Glide or Superglide
Puppies return to: Dining Room – Under table
Dalmatians' Den – Under coffee table
Dining Room – Near blue screen
The chest is located on a rock in the water around the Mystical House area,
almost directly behind it (assuming you enter from the Third District). Use
Glide to get to it. It IS possible to obtain previous to this, but it is not
easy (I think it's not meant to happen). If you swim near the rock, and press
circle when facing it, there is a small chance you will leap out of the water
onto the rock. It happens more frequently with the Mermaid Kick ability
equipped. You can get this as soon as you've beaten Guard Armor if you are very
lucky. Don't count on it though.
Whilst in Traverse Town, you may want to stop by the Dalmatians' house in the
second district and pick up any rewards you've unlocked. You can't go wrong
with free gifts!
Location: Wonderland, Tea Party Garden
Abilities required: Glide or Superglide
Puppies return to: Piano Room – Lying on a book near the piano
Piano Room – Sitting on top of piano
Piano Room – Sitting on top of piano
Enter the Lotus Forest area, and go into the gap to the right of the entrance.
Jump up to this top area, and go back along this level until you are nearly
above the entrance to the level. Look towards the pond, and you should see a
treasure chest, and an exit above it. Glide across there and exit the area. You
will be on some hedges above the Tea Party Garden area. The chest you need to
open is located on top of the hedge, to the left of the house (the same hedge
you are on).
Location: Agrabah, Palace Gates
Abilities required: High Jump, Glide or Superglide
Puppies return to: Living Room – Under round table
Living Room – In front of fireplace
Living Room – In front of fireplace
The chest is located in the corner of the area, up high, to the left of the
gates. To get there, Sora has to jump up the stack of platforms in the corner
and glide across.
Location: Agrabah, Entrance
Abilities required: High Jump
Puppies return to: Living Room – Beside fireplace
Living Room – Looking at round table
Dining Room – Looking at clock
The chest is located above the rolling rock path in the first area of the cave.
To get to it, place a barrel from the nearby ledge near the platform just after
a rock has passed. Jump from this to reach the upper platform. Note: Make sure
you obtain this chest before going through much of Hollow Bastion. It is much
harder to obtain after this point in the game, as you will need to defeat a
powerful boss. This is only the case if you didn't save at the save point in
the cave. You could have obtained this chest a bit before this, but many prefer
to use the glide ability to get the puppies anyway, as it is easier.
Location: Halloween Town, Guillotine Square
Abilities required: High Jump, Glide or Superglide
Puppies return to: Dining Room – Under 2 chairs to left of cabinet
Dalmatians' Den – Looking at red footstool
Living Room – Looking at photos on wall
On the far wall from the gate is a sticking out ledge (very difficult to see).
Climb up here and glide to the nearby stone head. Hard to describe, you can see
two chests in the open mouth though. The puppies are in the closest one. Walk
around a bit and you'll find where I mean eventually.
Location: Hollow Bastion, Rising Falls
Abilities required: Nil
Puppies return to: Piano Room – Window sill
Dining Room – Under 2 chairs to right of cabinet
Dining Room – Near blue screen
Jump over the rocks on the ground right in front of you at the start of the
level. The chest is hidden behind them.
Location: Hollow Bastion, Castle Gates
Abilities required: Gravity spell
Puppies return to: Living Room – Middle of floor
Dalmatians' Den – Paws resting on lamp
Dalmatians' Den – On top of TV
I had quite a few questions about this one, and rightfully so: my last
description was awful. After finding the four emblem pieces, you will be at the
lift stop. Continue through this screen and you will be outside, on the higher
platform from where you entered the castle. On this platform will be four red
bird enemies - kill them, then hit the red crystal switch on the right of the
platform (the one that doesn't summon the elevator). From here, if you look
directly in front of you, you should see a lower platform. Get here by gliding,
or using the moving platform you just activated. The chest is hovering on a
small floating platform - cast gravity on it to reach the chest.
Location: Hollow Bastion, High Tower
Abilities required: Gravity spell
Puppies return to: Dining Room – Next to cabinet
Dining Room – Near blue screen
Dining Room – Behind lamp
It's hard to describe where this is. After riding the big elevator (the one you
fight on), continue through a few screens. After taking a small elevator up,
run through the door nearby, and also through the next screen. Once back
outside, defeat any enemies, and look for another floating chest. Cast gravity
on the platform it's sitting on to reach it. I believe it is near the large
blocks you need to move to get to the top of the castle.
One chest to go. You must proceed through the game a bit to get it. You need to
defeat a certain enemy that uses a keyblade, leave Hollow Bastion and return.
Location: Hollow Bastion, Grand Hall
Abilities required: Nil
Puppies return to: Living Room – On couch
Living Room – On couch
Piano Room – Looking at cello (think it's a cello...)
The chest is located in the area where you had to fight the aforementioned
boss, in front of the keyhole area. The chest is off to one side of the area.
You can NOT get this the first time you go to Hollow Bastion, you have to after
beating that boss.
Now you know how to find all 99 Dalmatians! Go to it. Remember to collect your
rewards from the house in the second district of Traverse Town! It'd be a shame
to miss it.
Got problems? Read the guide thoroughly. Couldn't find an answer there? Read
on, and you may find it here.
Q. Where can you find Dalmatians' #XX, YY and ZZ?
A. (Replacing XX, YY and ZZ with whatever number asked) – Look in section 5.
You'd expect the location to be found in the location section wouldn't you?
Maybe not, but you should. You can also use the CTRL-F and five digit code
method mentioned at the very start of the FAQ. Read the next question and
answer if you can't find it from my description written there.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. I looked where you said to look for a chest and it isn't there. Why not?
A. You're either looking in the wrong spot, or you've already found it. Try
again, and if you still don't find it, re-read the description and look again.
I guarantee the dalmatians ARE where I have said they are.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. I can't get to the chest! Why?
A. You may need an ability such as High Jump or Glide, or a certain trinity. If
this is the case, come back later after getting that ability, or equip it if
you haven't! If you still can't get it, you are probably doing something wrong.
Re-read the description in this case.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. I've already found 21 dalmatians, and I haven't revisited the house yet.
Have I missed out on the Curaga-G?
A. No. When you visit the dalmatians you will receive ALL the gifts up to the
amount of dalmatians found. In this case, you would get a Curaga-G AND a
Firaga-G if you visited the house now. You only get the item once, so after you
have picked up the Curaga-G from the Dalmatians' House, you won't get another
one there.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. How do I find out which dalmatians I have found/ which ones I still need to
find/ how many I've found?
A. Simple. Go to the Journal on the menu and look on the 101 Dalmatians screen.
This tells you which dalmatians have been found (marked by a paw print), and
the total as well. You can find out how many are left in a world by pressing
triangle. Once you have found the first lot of dalmatians in a world, the world
will be listed.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. I can't access the clock tower in Neverland/ can't get to the treasure cave
in Agrabah. Why is this?
A. This is something I omitted from the first version, and got a few emails
about it. Odds are, you have defeated a certain boss in Hollow Bastion at this
stage (the boss's name will spoil the game if I mention it), and all the worlds
now have harder enemies. You may need to defeat another special boss in this
case, before you can access these areas again. I'll let you find out from other
FAQs, or by exploring yourself how to find and defeat these bosses.
~~~~~~~~~~~
Q. I missed some puppies inside Monstro and he isn't there any more. Are these
gone for ever?
A. Of course not. Try choosing Monstro on the map screen. If he's not there,
you'll fly on to the nearest area, usually Agrabah. Fly somewhere else (doesn't
matter where - anywhere EXCEPT for Monstro). Then choose to fly to where
Monstro is again. Keep repeating this, he'll eventually be back.
I hope this guide helped you with this sometimes frustrating quest. I had fun
writing this guide as well. I'm a bit surprised nobody had written a guide for
it before me, as it is one of the major parts of the game.
Want to find out more about the story of the 101 Dalmatians? There are a few
versions of the movie and books about them. They should not be too hard to
locate in a major store near you, or on the internet. You can also try reading
the few articles in Jiminy's Journal.
1.0 (22/11/03): Initial Release. There was always going to be another update
after this, as this was slapped together quite quickly. Been meaning to update
for months, but hadn't got around to it until now.
2.0 (8/1/05): Major format change, not much additional information. The guide
is now in a more logical order, so you could use this guide from the start of
the game, and get the dalmatians in the order listed.
2.01 (11/1/05): Added the line with Dalmatians 61, 62 and 63, and the
appropriate 5 digit code. Think I've got them all sorted out now.
2.10 (02/02/05): Changed the legal contents section, fixed a typo.
