INTRODUCTION
______________________________________________________________________________
Hello everybody! Welcome to my movelist for Briggs in Def Jam Vendetta. Here
you'll find a list of the hero Briggs' moves.
I'll list the commands and names of every move and also the name of the move
in "real wrestling-terminology" or a short explanation. This may not always be
accurate as I'm not in any way a wrestling specialist. I have used the
movelists in WWE Smackdown! Shut your Mouth, or the internet, where my memory
was lacking. If you find any errors (which I'm sure you will) please mail me.
In the section named Explanations, you'll gain all of the information you'll
need to use my movelist. I strongly recommend you to read that before you read
the moves, because there are some things that may be a bit confusing. In the
third section, you'll find the General Movelist. This contains all the moves
which are the same for all characters in the game.
All right, on with the moves then! Enjoy!
NOTE: When you're reading the Movelist, remember that the names to the left
are the "in-game names" and the names to right are the "real names" or
explanations. The letters at the far left are the buttons you have to press.

EXPLANATIONS
______________________________________________________________________________
This section will contain explanations of the shortenings I use throughout
the FAQ, and also of the different positions you have to be in to perform the
correct moves.
Shortenings

S = the strike button (press the square button on the PS2 controller)
G = the grapple button (press the cross button on the PS2 controller)
O = the button which you use to get in and out of the ring
(press the triangle button on the PS2 controller)
R = the run button (press the circle button on the PS2 controller)
AB = the command to activate Blazin' Mode (move the right analog stick on
the PS2 controller)
BL = the block button (press the R1 button on the PS2 controller)
u = hold up on the D-Pad/Left Analog Stick
l = hold left on the D-Pad/Left Analog Stick
r = hold right on the D-Pad/Left Analog Stick
d = hold down on the D-Pad/Left Analog Stick
dir = hold any direction or the specific direction for the situation on the
D-Pad/Left Analog Stick
t = press the button that comes afterwards lightly, tap it
h = hold in the button that comes afterwards
c = close strike
f = far strike
b = you have to bounce into the ropes before pressing the button
r = you have to run to do the move
bm = you have to be in Blazin' Mode to do the move
fuh = press the button by the head of an enemy laying on the ground face-up
fuf = press the button by the feet of an enemy laying on the ground face-up
fdh = press the button by the head of an enemy laying on the ground face-down
fdf = press the button by the feet of an enemy laying on the ground face-down
te = hold the direction towards the enemy
to = hold the direction towards the outside of the ring
Standing Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
This is the starting position, both contestants are standing. From here you
may either walk, strike, grapple or run.
Strikes
close strikes = tap S when you're near the opponent, tap it three times in
a row for a three hit combo,
hold any direction and tap the S button for the other
move and tap twice for a combo
far strikes = tap S when you are at a small distance from the opponent,
do the other strike by holding a direction and tap S
hard strikes = hold S for a harder strike, hold any direction and hold S
for the other move
hardest strike = press S and G together for the most powerful strike, this
changes to a stronger one when you are in Blazin' Mode
rising strike = when you have been knocked down to the ground you can get
up with this move, use it by holding BL and press S as you
are getting up
Grapples
soft grapples = tap G to entangle your opponent, from there you can do a
throw by pressing either S or G with or without directions
hard grapples = hold G to entangle your opponent, from there you can do a
throw by pressing either S or G with or without directions
rear grapples = when you have your opponent in either a soft or hard
grapple, you can press L1 to place yourself in a rear
grapple, from there you can either press S or G to perform
different throws, also depending on if the grapple was soft
or hard, of course this also counts when you're grappling a
dizzy opponent from behind
rope grapples = when holding an opponent in a grapple, push towards the
ropes and press G, you'll do one move if your opponent was
in a soft grapple and another if he was in a hard grapple,
you can also throw your opponent outside the ring by
pressing O instead of G, this move is the same for everyone
so you'll find it among the general moves
Running Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These attacks are made while you're running.
Strikes
There are four different strikes when you're running. One is made by
pressing the S button when you're running towards an opponent, another one
by pressing S when you have bounced into the rope and you're still running,
yet another one by pressing S+G while running and the last one by pressing
S+G after the bounce. There's also a special bouncing strike; to perform it
you have to press G right before you bounce into the ropes. Note that some
characters can not use the bouncing attack.
Grapples
These grapples work a little differently from the other ones. When you're
running towards an opponent and press G, instead of doing a throw specific
for your character, you'll do a random throw which is shared with the other
characters. There are 10 of these random throws when you're running towards
the front of an opponent and 5 to the back. I'll list these in the General
Moves section.
Irish Whip Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
You get to do these moves after you have forced your opponent to run by
performing an Irish Whip on him. To do a Irish Whip, hold your opponent in a
grapple and press R.
Strikes
You can strike your opponent as he comes running back to you, but the only
move that changes from the Standing position strikes is the tap S move.
Grapples
As your opponent comes running you have 4 throws to choose from. One is made
by tapping G and one by holding G, but if you press a direction as you tap
or hold G you get two other throws. I highly recommend pushing towards or
away from your opponent for the direction throws or else you'll move out of
the way and the throw fails.
Irish Whip into steel post/ring/railing
These are only two moves which I will list in the General Moves. Both are
performed while both wrestlers are on the floor outside the ring. Simply
hold the direction of the railing/ring/steel post and press R.
Dodge
If you press the L1 button as the opponent runs towards you from a Irish
Whip you'll throw yourself on the floor dodging out of the way. This is a
General Move.
Top Turnbuckle Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are four moves to be made from the top turnbuckle. To get there hold a
diagonal direction while pressing R and you'll run up the turnbuckle and sit
there as long as you keep holding in R. The moment you'll release R you'll do
your attack. The moves differs depending on if the opponent is standing or is
on the ground. Most characters' moves off the turnbuckle also changes when
they're in Blazin' Mode.
Apron Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To get onto the apron (small area outside the ropes but in the ring) walk to
the ropes and press T. From there you can do a few moves.
Strikes
There are two kind of strikes, both of them are same for all characters. One
when you just press S and one when you hold the direction to the outside of
the ring and press S.
Grapples
You can perform two different throws when on the apron. The opponent must
stand near the ropes. You do them by either tapping or holding G. These
moves are the same for all characters in the game.
The Other Attacks
You can do a maximum of three jumps from the apron. They differ depending on
where the opponent is. One when the opponent is standing, one when he's on
the ground and one where he's outside of the ring. You do all of these by
holding in the direction of the opponent and pressing G. However, bear in
mind that not all of the characters can use all three moves.
Opponent in Turnbuckle
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To get the opponent into the turnbuckle you have to Irish Whip him diagonally.
From there you can do two different throws: one soft where you tap G and one
hard where you hold G.
Opponent on the Ground
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
To do these moves the opponent must lay down on the ground.
Strikes
You can do one ground strike from the standing position and one when you're
running and pressing S.
Grapples
There are four different ground grapples. They differ depending on if you
pressed G near the head or feet and if the opponent is laying face up or
down.
Opponent on Apron
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are two throws when the opponent is on the apron. To do them you just
have to be near him and tap or hold G. These moves are the same for all
characters so you can find them in the General Moves section.
Opponent on Knees
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These moves are done while the opponent stands on his knees. He gets on his
knees after certain attacks, almost always after a weak turnbuckle grapple.
The strike and head grapple changes but the leg grapple remains the same as on
the ground.
Sitting Opponent
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These moves are done while the opponent sits on the ground. He gets there by
certain moves, always after Take a Seat (the Snapmare). The strike and head
grapple changes but the leg grapple remains the same as on the ground, for
most characters. Some characters have a different leg grapple when the
opponent is sitting.
Opponent on the Outside of the Ring
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These moves are made while you are inside the ring and the opponent is on the
outside. To get him to the outside you should grapple him near the ropes, hold
the direction of the ropes and push T. There are 1 to 3 different moves
depending on the character you're playing with. One is made by standing near
the ropes, holding the directions of the ropes and pressing G. The second is
performed by running towards the ropes and pressing G just before you get to
them and the third is made like the second one but you have to bounce on the
ropes on the other side of the ring.
Opponent on the Top Turnbuckle
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
There are only two of these moves. They seem to appear randomly just like the
running grapples. They are performed by pressing G when the opponent is on
the top of the turnbuckle. These moves are used by all characters.
Combos
¯¯¯¯¯¯
Every character has 3 personal combos. The combo is just a certain order in
which you have to perform the moves given without letting the opponent hit
you. Every Combo is a series of 2 to 4 moves. The combos give a points and
Momentum bonus. There are General Combos which can be performed by any
character in the game, you'll find them in the General Moves section.
Special Moves
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are the finishers in the game where the characters take out the heavy
artillery. Every character has two Special Moves, one to be made in a front
grapple and one in a rear grapple. To do them your character's Momentum Bar
must be completely filled, that's when you should move the AB to activate
Blazin' Mode. Then just grapple the opponent in a front or rear grapple and
touch the AB.

BRIGGS' MOVELIST

Briggs is one of the four heroes you may choose from in Story Mode. He is a
blonde military guy, who uses mostly technical attacks. Like the other heroes
he has 3 different levels. On each level some of his moves, and always one
combo, changes. The special moves never change though. I will write his
complete movelist for level 1 and then just write the moves which changes in
the other levels' movelist. You level up by improving Briggs's stats in Story
Mode.

Grapple
bmAB Vertabuster This is a modified Vertebreaker. Briggs
knees the opponent in the groin and jumps
up onto his back with Briggs back towards
the opponent's. Briggs is with his head
towards the ground and hooks the opponent's
arms as Briggs goes to his feet taking the
opponent with him. Now Briggs is on his feet
holding the opponent upside down on Briggs's
back. Briggs drops to the floor.
Rear Grapple
bmAB The Chiropractor Briggs takes his arm around the front of the
opponent's throat and takes him down to
Briggs's knee, breaking his back. Briggs
lifts him up in a Inverted Brainbuster
position, jumps, while spinning 360
degrees, and falls to the ground, driving
the opponent's head to the floor.
