1. Introduction
I have been a fan of the Australian Football League my entire life. When the
first game (AFL 98) came out on PC, I was rapt, and I bought it. I have bought
every game since, only to be disappointed with AFL Live 2004, which is somewhat
poorer than its three predecessors. In April 2004, AFL Live Premiership Edition
was released, which was more of an update to the previous AFL game, because of
the many glitches it once held. The game includes the updated rosters, but the
ratings of teams and players are the same. It is much better than AFL Live 2004,
but still has some glitches that weren't in the former.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Why Change Line-Ups?
A lot of people think changing line-ups is a waste of time. You guys can feel
that way if you want, but the people who want to change line-ups, please read
on. In every AFL game I have bought, the Eagles team has been out-of-date since
the release. I change it a lot as it has a lot of players who can't get a game,
are in weird positions, or I just don't like. That's why I made this guide, in
case there are people out there like me who hate the line-ups that this game
gives to us if we don't change them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Team Tactics
So far, only two team tactics for this guide, both for the Eagles, which I've
tried to match as close as possible as to what they used during the 2004
season, and what they are using during the 2005 season.

4. Team Line-Ups
Well, here they are. The most important part of this guide and we are finally
up to them! Thanks to all the other members of GameFAQs who submitted line-ups
for their favourite teams and etcetera, etcetera.

This line-up has two previously retired players in Nigel Smart and Wayne Carey,
but seeming as they are in the game, and if you like them, you can put them in
if you want, it's not like I can stop you, anyway.

I added this one in here, as my two favourite Port players (Wanganeen and Dew)
aren't in the line-up, so I did my own version.
Forwards: P.Burgoyne, B.Lade, S.Burgoyne
Half-Forwards: B.Pickett, W.Tredrea, S.Dew
Centres: J.Schofield, J.Carr, K.Cornes

Switch Hardwick and Montgomery at half back. Switch Primus and Brogan in the
ruck, and if one of them gets injured, use Lade in the ruck, and S.Burgoyne at
FF. Rotate S.Burgoyne and Wanganeen on occasions during the game. Switch Poulton
and Schofield. Switch Cassisi and P.Burgoyne. Feel free to use P.Burgoyne on the
ball on occasion.

SYDNEY SWANS

Have your defenders and midfielders run the ball out of defence and bomb the
ball into your tall forwards. Have Fosdike and Davis rotate into the midfield at
times in the game. Continually rotate C.Bolton, James, Schauble and Goodes from
backline to forward line and vice-versa. Have Ball and Doyle rotate in the ruck
and up-forward.

WEST COAST EAGLES
-----------------
-- My own work --
Forwards: P.Matera, A.McDougall, A.Sampi
Half-Forwards: D.Kerr, A.Hansen, S.Butler
Centres: M.Braun, B.Cousins, A.Embley
Half-Backs: C.Morrison, Q.Lynch, M.Nicoski
Backs: D.Wirrpunda, D.Glass, D.Banfield
Followers: M.Gardiner, C.Fletcher, C.Judd
Interchange: D.Cox, D.Chick, B.Staker, M.Seaby
Use Daniel Chick as a tagger in both line-ups. With the ruck rotations, be sure
to use at least Cox and Gardiner in the ruck, and if you need to, use Seaby. If
you're taking Dean Cox out of the ruck, put him on the bench, not anywhere else
on the field. Seaby should play most of the game up forward, leaving the brunt
of the ruckwork to Gardiner and Cox. Feel free to rotate Sampi, Embley, Kerr,
Judd, Cousins and Braun on and off the ball.
Rotate the forward line so all forwards have a shot at Full Forward, and who
performs the best. Rotate Gardiner into CHF, and Cox into the ruck, putting
Staker on the bench. Use Butler as a midfield drifting forward, and Chick as the
tagger. Use Johnson as a secondary tall forward if one gets injured or is tired.
-- 2005 Line-up (close as I could get it) --
-- my own work --
Forwards: P.Matera, Q.Lynch, M.Gardiner
Half-Forwards: A.Embley, A.Hansen, B.Cousins
Centres: M.Braun, C.Fletcher, A.Selwood
Half-Backs: C.Morrison, B.Staker, M.Nicoski
Backs: D.Wirrpunda, D.Glass, D.Banfield
Followers: D.Cox, C.Judd, D.Kerr
Interchange: A.Sampi, D.Chick, S.Butler, A.Hunter
Chad Morrison is in this guide, because Stenglein took over his role pretty
much, so I just slotted him in there. Even though I put Daniel Chick on the
bench, use him as your tagger, along with Banfield and Braun if you need them
(yes, tagging actually works in this game). If Lynch sucks up forward, put
either Staker or Hunter at Full-Forward, and put Lynch at CHB, or on the bench.
Move the defenders around so they are always on the ideal matchup (ie Wirrpunda
on smallest forward, Banfield on medium-size), and replace Nicoski with Hunter
if you need another tall defender. Rotate the midfield, making sure all the
midfielders and half-forwards get a rest, and make sure you give Cousins a
decent spell in the centre if he is having a poor game on the flank. Make sure
Embley, Sampi, and Nicoski have a go in the midfield, as well as forward/back
line.
