1.2 - The Menus
************************************

------------------
Initial Menu Items
------------------

Right after pressing start you will be at the main menu. Here you can start a
new game, load a game, go through the tutorial. play vs. mode or go to the
options menu. Right now there won't be very much at the options menu. You can
change a few controller options, change some screen settings, adjust sound
settings and go to the personal data viewer. The personal data viewer shows you
your flight time, how many air targets you have destroyed, how many ground
targets you have destroyed and statistics for each plane you have. You can see
how many times you've flown in the plane and the percentage of your flights
that were in that plane. If you choose new game, you pick a difficulty and
start going through the missions. If you do that and exit back to the main
menu, there will be a new option here, Continue. This lets you go back to where
you left off in the missions.

In between missions in the mission mode there is another menu. This one is
important because it is where you buy and sell aircraft and weapons. Just
select either buy or sell on the menu and you can choose either aircraft or
weapon. If you are selling you just pick an aircraft and either sell it or
choose a weapon for it to sell. If you are buying you can pick from the
available aircraft if you are buying a plane or you can pick and aircraft and
buy weapons for it if you are buying weapons. Also on this menu you can watch
the mission briefing again, save, load and change some settings in the options
menu. In this options menu you also can go back to the title screen if you
wish to.

------------------------------------
Stuff You Get After Beating The Game
------------------------------------

Once you have beaten the game you will notice that there are now more options
on the main menu and in the options menu. With the new new game option you can
start another game through mission mode with your current airplanes, weapons
and funds. You also can play two new modes, free mission and trial mode (Both
are discussed in the 'Other Modes' section). In the options menu you will see
'Scene Viewer' and 'Music Player'. With the scene viewer you can watch any of
the cut-scenes you saw when going through the missions. Music player lets you
listen to any of the music from the game. In addition to that, you can go to
the screen options and you will see there is an option called 'Interludes'.
These are the cut-scenes that you saw during the mission mode. You can turn
them off or keep them on.

New difficulties will also become available after you beat the game. Beat the
game on Hard to unlock Expert and beat the game on Expert to unlock Ace.

1.3 - Flying & Playing The Game
************************************

------
Flying
------

Before you actually start playing the game, you should take some time out to
go through the tutorial. Doing so will help you learn the basics about
maneuvering and attacking. In addition to what that tells you, there are two
important things that you need to know:

Evading missiles: If an enemy plane or a SAM locks onto you from behind, you
are most likely going to have to do something to evade it, unless you want to
get hit. If a missile is fired at you from the sides or in front of you, you
won't have to do as much to evade it, but you still should try to make sure it
doesn't hit you. Once a missile is fired at you, the best thing that you can
do is to turn very sharply. The missiles can't turn very well and you can
easily out maneuver them. Just turn as sharply to the left or the right as you
can and it should miss.

Dive bombing: Sometimes there is a large ground of targets that you might want
to bomb, but there are so many defenses around them that you'd have to take
those out first to safely get near the targets you want to bomb and then bomb
them. This is where dive bombing comes in. First, you will want to go very
high, somewhere around 10,000 feet or higher. At 10,000 feet AA guns, SAMs and
flak guns can't do anything to you. If you go up even higher, maybe up to
20,000 feet, enemy fighters will probably completely ignore you, as well. When
you are at the desired altitude, fly directly over the target and suddenly
head down at a 90-degree angle, so you are flying straight to the ground.
Position the bombing target so it is over the target and drop your bombs.
Since the bombs will be going pretty much straight down, they should hit
exactly where you wanted them to. Once they have been dropped, you can either
wait to drop some more or pull out of the dive before you smash into the ground
and kill yourself.

--------------
Credits & Rank
--------------

Credits are the currency of the game. After each mission you play you will get
some credits. Credits go towards buying planes and weapons. When you sell a
plane or weapon, you get back all the credits you spent on it.

Rank has nothing to do with credits, but I didn't want to give three sentences
their own little section for credits. Your rank is based entirely on how many
points you get in a mission. The lowest rank is C and there is also B, A and S,
with S being the best. Usually a C rank is around what you get if you just get
enough points to beat the mission and an S is closer to destroying a majority
of the targets. If you get an S rank on every mission on some difficulties you
may unlock something.

---------------
The Game Screen
---------------

When you are actually in the game playing, many important things will be
displayed on the screen. If you are in the first-person or cockpit view, the
HUD - heads up display - will be in the middle, parts of it aren't shown if you
are flying in the third person view. On the left side of it you can see your
speed and on the right is your altitude. On top the direction you are heading
is shown and in the middle of it is the angle at which your airplane is
moving up or down. 0-degrees is perfectly flat and there are marks above and
below the 0-degrees mark to tell you your angle. Also here in the middle is
one thing that is in the shape of a W and another in the shape of an O. The
W is always in the exact center of the screen to help you see where you are
going. The O shows where the nose of the plane is facing, when you turn it
won't always be in the middle with the W.

In the bottom-left corner is the radar and map. Press Square to bring up the
map over the radar, pressing it is pressure sensitive and the harder you push
the button the further zoomed out the map will be. On the map and radar you
will see targets of different shapes and colors. The targets in the shape of
an arrow are aircraft, the ones that are squares are ground targets and targets
with circles around them are targets you have to destroy to complete the
mission. In the middle of your radar and on the map is a white arrow, this
shows you in relation to everything else. The blue targets are friendly
targets, but everything else is hostile. The color of a target tells you how
many points it's worth. Grey targets are worth the least and red ones are worth
the most. Orange comes in the middle.

In the bottom-right corner of the screen you can see your ammo and health. The
listing next to 'GUN' on the top shows how many bullets your gun has left,
'MSSL' shows how many missiles you have left and the next thing shows how many
of whatever secondary weapons you are carrying you have left. The name for that
differs depending on which weapon you took. There is always a rectangle box
around MSSL or the name of your secondary weapon, which ever one the box is
around shows which one you have selected. Below that is 'DMG'. The numbers
next to it show, in percent, how much damaged your plane is. You die when it
gets to 100%. Below that is a wireframe look at the top of your planes and your
selected weapons. The number of the weapons shown shows you how many of them
you can use at once. If there are two, you can fire the two missiles or drop
the two bombs at a time. Once you use one the color will fade and you can see
the color coming back, once it does you can use the weapon again.

In the top-right corner is your time. If you are on a mission where you have to
get points, the mission will end when the time runs out. On any other type of
mission you will fail if time runs out. Finally, in the top-left corner is your
score. It will show how many points you have and your rank, if you have enough
points to get at least a C. If you have to get a certain number of points on
the mission, it will show how many points you have out of what you need to get.

One last thing is targets. When a ground target is in view a green circle will
be around it. When an air target is in view, a green box will be around it.
If you have the target selected, the name of whatever the target is will be
shown as well as the distance. When you get close enough to fire your primary
missiles (About 890 feet) or close enough for your secondary weapon to lock
onto it, assuming it can, the box/circle around it will turn red. For targets
that you are required to destroy, red letters showing 'TGT' are displayed by
it.

-----------
Enemy Units
-----------

In this game there are a large number of enemy targets for you to destroy. I'm
not going to list them all, but list the ones that can actually do something to
you.

AA guns: These are the most common ground defense target. They can either be
stationary or moving on a vehicle. These fire rapidly up at your plane, doing
minimal damage, but the damage does add up. They are very limited by range.

SAMs: Like AA guns, SAM launchers can be stationary or on moving vehicles. The
missiles they fire at you are just about identical to the ones you use, so you
can tell if you are in range of one if you can lock onto it with your normal
missiles.

Flak guns: These are very uncommon and are only in about three missions. These
fire up into the sky and the shots explode into flak, if it hits you it will do
significant amounts of damage. These are very limited because they can't hit
you if you fly low and their shots don't go very far.

Enemy fighters: At one time or another you will see almost every plane that you
can buy attack you. All of these have the same limits as you do in the plane,
so don't worry about them firing missiles at you from 2000 feet away. Every
level has lots of fighters, they almost always are circling around targets,
ready to attack you.

Enemy bombers: These only appear in targets in a few missions and seem
harmless, but some can actually damage you. They can have guns on them and
shoot you if you get too close.

Helicopters: Occasionally you will encounter a helicopter hovering around
somewhere. They will only hover in one spot and they don't really do much.

Ships: There are a variety of ships in this game. Most can't defend
themselves, but some have AA guns and/or SAMs on them.

************************************
1.4 - Aces, Paintjobs & The X-02
************************************

---------
Paintjobs
---------

Once you have beaten the game, you will be able to buy alternate paintjobs for
planes. There are two alternate paintjobs for each plane in addition to the
standard one. On any screen where you can pick a plane (To buy/sell/use) you
will see that there is a box that represent planes you don't have above and
below the line of squares that each represent a plane. The box above the line
is for the first alternate paintjob for planes, the one below is for Ace
paintjobs. I believe you unlock the first alternate paint jobs once you beat
the game (Although if I'm wrong about this I would like it if someone would
e-mail me correcting me). Once these paintjobs are unlocked you can go to the
buy aircraft screen and buy them. You get the Ace paintjobs in a very different
way, read the next section (About Aces) to see how for most of the planes.
Since there are 21 panes and 18 levels, 3 planes don't have an Ace version
flying around somewhere. Those three planes are the F-4, the SU-37 and the
X-02. My mind is a bit sketchy on the details of getting those Ace paintjobs,
so if I'm wrong, please e-mail me the correct information. I believe that the
Ace F-4 paintjob is available after you beat the game once, the SU-37's is
available after you shoot down all 18 Aces and the X-02's becomes available
when you get an S rank on every mission on one either Expert or Ace difficulty,
which one it is I can't remember.

----
Aces
----
What are Aces, you ask? Well, on each level there is an Ace that flies around
somewhere, but only on Normal difficulty or higher and you have to have beaten
the game at least once for them to show up. You can tell which plane is an Ace
because it does not show up on your map until you are close to it, the plane is
red on your map because of how many points it's worth and the name of the pilot
of the plane will be shown under the type of plane when you target it. If you
shoot down an Ace, you get the paintjob that Ace had on his plane for that
particular plane. For example, if you find an Ace flying an EF-2000 and shoot
it down, you can then buy the Ace paintjob (The third one) for the EF-2000.
Since there are less levels in the game than levels, there isn't an Ace for
every plane, but that's a different matter entirely.

--------
The X-02
--------
The X-02 is a special plane that you can only get once you have beaten the
game. I believe that the only way to unlock it (This is one of the things I
can hardly remember-correct me if I'm wrong) is to beat the game on the Normal
difficulty. Once you unlock it, you still have to buy it at the cost of 1.4
million credits. Like I said above, there is no X-02 Ace. I can't remember
which it is, but you have to beat all the missions on either Expert or Ace
with an S rank on every mission.

===============================================================================
                                2. Walkthrough
===============================================================================

In this section the objective for each mission is listed, the time limit is
listed, a description of the level and it's targets is listed, some advice for
beating the level is listed and the location of the ace pilot is listed. For
some missions there are two objectives and two time limits listed, separated by
a semicolon (;). That means that in that particular mission, there is a mission
update once you complete the first objective and the second objective is listed
as the second objective. The second time limit shows how much time you have to
complete that second objective.

When you play one of these missions in the mission mode you will get a briefing
before hand. You will hear what you have to do and see a diagram showing the
level. This will also show you where targets are located. After the mission you
can see what targets you destroyed and how many credits you got from the
mission.

-----------------------------
2.1: Mission 1 - Sitting Duck
-----------------------------

Objective: Destroy all six bombers

Time Limit: 10 minutes

Description: This level takes place above some islands. There is a big one near
the center of the map with a city, mountains and an airbase on it. The bombers
you have to destroy fly over this island, escorted by a few fighters.

Advice: You shouldn't really need any advice for this level. Just go straight
for the bombers and fire two missiles at them to destroy them. They can shoot
at you if you get close, but they won't be able to do much damage. The fighters
around them are just as harmless, you can pretty much ignore them.

Ace Location: Just northeast of the main island

--------------------------------
2.2: Mission 2 - Imminent Threat
--------------------------------

Objective: Destroy the bombers at the airfield

Time Limit: 15 minutes

Description: The main part of this level is an airfield directly north of your
starting position. Power lines run north, almost directly below where you
start, to the airfield. Between the airfield and your starting position there
is a substation on the powerlines you can destroy. Past the substation there
are some fighters and then some more fighters above the airfield. The airfield
is lightly defended by a few AA guns near the outer corners of it. Inside the
airfield are a few groups of the bombers, which you need to destroy. In
addition to the bombers there are three planes that will try to take off and
then engage you. Other optional targets at the airfield include hangars and the
control tower.

Advice: You will probably want to take some kind of bombs as your secondary
weapon on this level. The target bombers are in groups of three or two on the
ground, and each group can be destroyed with a well-placed bomb. The optional
targets at the airfield are also close together, making bombs even more
useful. This mission is very easy to beat since, just fly to the airfield and
destroy the bombers. That's all you'll have to do. The enemy fighters aren't
very dangerous and the AA guns can easily be avoided, although you still might
want to take them out.

Ace Location: Near the lake on the north side of the airfield

---------------------------------
2.3: Mission 3 - The Northern Eye
---------------------------------

Objective: Destroy the radar sites; Return to base

Time Limit: 15 minutes; 15 Minutes

Description: This level takes place in the mountains, so you have to be a bit
careful not to crash when attacking the ground targets. Before you reach these
targets you will encounter a few enemy fighters and then have to deal with a
few more above the radar sites. The first radar site is lightly defended, only
with a few AA guns. To the west of that is the second radar site. This radar
site is also only defended with a few AA guns. Next to this site there is a
helipad with a helicopter on it that you can destroy with an AA gun next to it.

Advice: This is just another mission where you can simply destroy the targets.
You don't have to worry about the scare enemy fighters, and can easily destroy
the AA guns before they do very much to you. Just destroy the radar sites, but
watch the mountains as you do. If you don't pay attention you can easily smash
into one. Once you destroy all of the radar sites something saying "Mission
Update" will pop-up and you will get a new objective, return to base. Fly past
the dotted white line on your map to return. Once you are past it, you will
have to land. You can skip landing by pressing start or by doing it yourself.

Ace Location: South of the two radar sites.

-------------------------
2.4: Mission 4 - Blockade
-------------------------

Objective: Destroy the three target C-17s

Time Limit: 12 minutes

Description: Like the first mission, you have to destroy some aircraft in this
mission. These aircraft fly pretty high, so you won't have to worry about
what's on the ground or hitting it. In this mission there are two E767 aircraft
that are doing radar jamming around the planes you have to shoot down. They can
be found in the middle of the circle of the radar jamming. Once they are shot
down, your radar will be clear and it will be easier to find and destroy the
other aircraft. Around the C-17s you have to destroy and the E767s there are
a few escorts.

Advice: Since all there is to destroy in the mission is aircraft, take some
type of AA missile as your secondary weapon, if you can. The first thing you
will probably want to do in this mission is destroy the E767s so you can use
radar to find the targets or any escorts you want to destroy. They fly slightly
higher than the C17s and each one is in the middle of the circle of radar
jamming it creates. Once those are gone you can easily find and destroy your
targets. Their escorts probably won't trouble you, but you can destroy them if
you want.

Ace Location: North of the initial location of your targets.

-------------------------
2.5: Mission 5 - Lifeline
-------------------------

Objective: Score at least 2000 points within the time limit; Return to base

Time Limit: 10 minutes; 4 minutes

Description: The main targets in this mission are ground targets. There are two
sets of them, the refinery facilities on the land and the offshore oilrigs. The
refinery facilities on the shore are only defended by one AA gun and a few
fighters overhead. The targets in this area consist of lots of fuel tanks that
are very close together, pump stations, smokestacks and refineries. The oilrigs
are more heavily defended, with some SAM launchers and AA guns on some of them.
These oilrigs tend to be close together and the targets on them that you have
to destroy are mostly things on them, such as cranes. Of course, these are also
protected by fighters. Separate from the two main groups of targets are the oil
tankers. One is by the oilrigs and one is just north of where you start. These
are each worth a lot of points.

Advice: This mission is completely different than the last four. Instead of
having set targets to destroy, you can destroy what you want to get the points
you need. Each target is worth a set amount of points, and you will have to
destroy a lot of them to get the points you need. For this mission you will
definitely want bombs as your secondary weapon, the bigger the better. Dropping
a bomb right onto an oilrig will destroy all the targets on it and will make
beating this mission a breeze. The bombs are also useful for the refinery
facilities. The targets there are very close together (Especially the fuel
tanks), and many can be destroyed at a time with one bomb. Don't worry if you
run out of bombs or missiles, you can just return to base to get more and then
come back. Once time runs out you will have a mission update. The Yellow
Squadron has come to deal with you. You do not want to fight these guys,
killing them is hard enough with the best planes in the game. Just head back to
base as fast as you can and ignore the Yellows.

Ace Location: To the southwest of the large ground of targets on the land

---------------------------------
2.6: Mission 6 - Invincible Fleet
---------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 3000 points within the time limit

Time Limit: 15 minutes

Description: This level takes place around a bay surrounded by a big city.
There are docks at parts of the bay with various types of ships that you are to
destroy. There are a total of three large dock areas, plus some ships in the
bay that are a bit away from the docks. In addition to that, there are some
ships that have left the bay and are in the ocean. Those ships are directly to
the east of where you start. There are a total of six of them there. To the
north of these ships is a large bridge that spans the entrance to the bay. On
the northern side of the western end of the bridge is one of the large docks.
There are a total of nine ships docked in this area plus some cranes that you
can destroy. Over on the other side of the bay on the north side of the bridge
there are some cranes and a few more docked ships. These docked ships are by
the entrance of a channel (Or something) that leads to another large docking
area. At this docking area there are some ships, some submarines and some large
gas tanks. This dock area is also defended by a SAM site and AA gun. The subs
here are all in covered pens, meaning they can't be attacked from above and you
have to attack head on. Further to the north along the east side of the bay are
some more cranes and then the last docking area. There are a few more ships and
cranes here plus some fuel tanks, shipping containers and missile boats.

Advice: One important thing you have to know about this level is that most of
the ships have AA guns and/or can fire SAMs at you. You will want to destroy
these quickly, otherwise you can easily be killed. Sometimes you can destroy
the anti-aircraft defenses on each end of a ship by just firing a missile at
the ship itself, but that doesn't always work. The best thing to do is use
bombs to make sure the entire ship is destroyed at once. When you start this
level the first thing you will want to do is destroy all of the ships that are
directly to your east. They are moving south and you don't want them to move
out of the combat area. After that you can easily get enough points to beat the
level by going into each dock area, destroying all of the targets there and
then moving on to the next dock.

Ace Location: Northwest of the bay and northern most group of ships

----------------------------
2.7: Mission 7 - Deep Strike
----------------------------

Objective: Destroy the three indicated targets; Return to base

Time Limit: 15 minutes; 10 minutes

Description: Throughout this map there are lots of ravines that run north to
south, most of which are on the southern part of the map. Near the middle of
the map, and directly to the north of where you start the mission, is the first
power plant. Here there are a lot of solar panels that surround a radar dish,
which is one of the targets. This area is defended by two flak guns, an AA gun
and a SAM site. North of here is the next power plant. This one has two targets
for you to destroy. One is the solar tower, which is the big tower in the
middle of the crater, and the other is the control room, the building by the
top of the crater. This area is defended by a SAM site and an AA gun.

Advice: You'll probably want to take a plane that you can control well for this
mission, you'll see why at the end. When it starts you can head straight for
the first power plant, ignoring the fighters. At this power plant you will have
to deal with the flak guns, AA guns and the SAM site. You can avoid all three
by flying high and just dropping a bomb on the radar dish. You could also fly
in low and hit the dish before the SAM or AA guns can get you. If you don't
want to do that, you can destroy the defenses first and then do what you want.
You can do the same for the other two targets at the other power plant, except
you won't have to deal with the flak. After you destroy the targets there will
be a mission update. You will have to quickly get back to base, but Stonehenge
will be firing at you. If you've been paying attention, you'll know Stonehenge
is a very large weapon. When it's shots come, you almost certainly will die if
you are flying above 2,000 feet. Fly into one of the ravines and follow it back
to base (This is why I told you to use a plane you can control well).

Ace Location: North of the second power plant

--------------------------------
2.8: Mission 8 - Shattered Skies
--------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 800 points within the time limit; Destroy the six B2
bombers

Time Limit: 7 minutes; 6 minutes

Description: This is another level with only aircraft to destroy. There is a
huge cluster if enemy aircraft above one big island on this map. Most of these
aircraft are fighters, but there are a few others, such as an E767 (Although
this one doesn't jam your radar). Included with the fighters are some Yellows.
These aren't the same Yellows as before, but they still are tough. You can't
destroy them, but if you hit one all of the Yellows will retreat to the west.

Advice: You will definitely want to take some kind of anti-aircraft missile
along as your secondary weapon for this mission, all you will be doing is
shooting down aircraft. Once the mission starts go and destroy whatever you
want to get the 800 points you need, it shouldn't be too difficult. You may
want to hit one of the Yellows to get 150 points and make all of them leave you
alone, doing this can make things a bit easier. Once time runs out you will
have to shoot down six B2 bombers that are coming from the west. They are a
bit hard to pick up on your radar because of stealth, but you still should have
no problem shooting them down since they fly in a straight line and can't
damage you. After they have been destroyed the mission will not be over, you
will have to wait for time to run out.

Ace Location: Around the western side of the big island east of where most of
the enemy aircraft are (NOTE: Only appears after you have returned to base at
least once)

--------------------------------------
2.9: Mission 9 - Operation Bunker Shot
--------------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 2200 points within the time limit; Destroy the six
enemy A-10s

Time Limit: 10 minutes; 7 minutes

Description: On the mission most of the targets are on the ground in groups on
three separate beaches. The targets on the beaches include defenses (AA guns
and SAMs), tanks, pillboxes, radar sites and batteries. Most of these targets
come in pairs on the beaches. To the north of the eastern most beach there is
some artillery that you can destroy. When most of the targets on the western
most beach are destroyed lots of new targets will appear to the north. In
addition to the ground targets there are a few fighters that fly around the
beaches.

Advice: Bombs aren't as good of a choice for this level as you might think.
They targets are ground targets, but they usually are too far apart to
destroy more than two at once with a single bomb. Whatever you take for your
secondary weapon is up to you. Once you start the level the best tactic is to
destroy all of the targets at one beach and move on to the next. Hit the SAMs
and AA guns first and then finish off everything else at the beach. Another
important thing is to look for the radar sites and batteries on your map/radar.
They are easy to spot because they are red on the map/radar because they give
you lots of points when you destroy them. Whenever you see one, destroy it.
Once time runs out there will be a mission update. You will now have to destroy
some A-10s that are headed for the middle beach. Destroying them won't be that
difficult, they are slow and they don't have many escorts.

-----------------------------
2.10: Mission 10 - Tango Line
-----------------------------

Objective: Score at least 3000 points within the time limit

Time Limit: 20 minutes

Description: Most of the targets in this mission are ground targets in the
mountains. Just to the east of your starting position is an airfield and small
base, with many targets for you to destroy. The airfield is on top of a
mountain and there are some smaller targets at the base of the mountain. This
base is defended by an AA gun and a SAM site. Off to the northwest there is
another base with many targets, this one is along a river between some
mountains. On the mountain tops surrounding the base there are many AA guns and
SAM sites, plus there are a few flak guns in the base itself. Northeast of that
base there is another base that is between some mountains. There are also some
AA guns and SAM sites in the mountains around this base, but not as many as
were at the last one. This base has a few docks and most of the targets are
ships/subs. In addition to those big bases, there are some smaller ones to the
northeast of the airbase, on the eastern part of the map. All of these bases
are in craters on top of a mountain. The only way to destroy the targets in the
craters is to attack from above.

Advice: For this mission you should take the biggest bombs that any of your
planes have for the secondary weapon of whatever plane you choose. The best way
to go about this mission is to destroy one base at a time. Use the bombs that I
told you to bring to destroy many targets at once in each base. When you attack
the two bases surrounded by mountains, you can dive bomb to easily take out the
targets in them without having to worry about their defenses or the mountains.
When you attack the small bases in the craters to the east you will have to be
very careful, if you accidentally fly into one you won't be able to get out.
The best way to deal with these is to drop a bomb on them from above. There is
one more thing you have to worry about on this mission, Stonehenge. Stonehenge
will attack in this mission like in Mission 8. A few times during the mission
you will hear on your radio that Stonehenge is attacking. Drop below 2000 feet
and stay there no matter what until it stops.

Ace Location: Northwest of the base directly to the northwest of your starting
position (The base surrounded by lots of AA weapons on top of the mountains)

-------------------------
2.11: Mission 11 - Escort
-------------------------

Objective: Escort the civilian aircraft

Time Limit: 5 minutes 30 seconds

Description: This is another air only mission. One aircraft that you have to
protect flies very high and the other flies very low, low enough that you will
have to worry about not hitting the mountains when you defend it.

Advice: There are two ways to beat this mission. You can shoot down all of the
enemy aircraft or you can let time run out, as long as neither plane you are
defending gets shot down, though that isn't much of a problem. As long as you
at least try to destroy the enemy aircraft they probably won't shoot down the
planes you have to protect. When the mission starts there will be one enemy
fighter attacking the plane that flies very high. Shoot that plane down and two
more will come out to attack the plane that is flying low. Once those have been
destroyed three more will appear, to attack the higher-flying plane. Destroy
those and a final four fighters will appear to attack the plane that is flying
low. If you destroy those you beat the mission.

Ace Location: Southeast of the fourth group of targets (NOTE: Only appears when
90 seconds are left on the clock)

---------------------------------------
2.12: Mission 12 - Stonehenge Offensive
---------------------------------------

Objective: Destroy Stonehenge's 7 guns; Shoot down a Yellow

Time Limit: 15 minutes; 10 minutes

Description: In the middle of this level is Stonehenge itself. It consists of
seven main guns that are arranged in a circle around a radar ramming device.
That radar jamming device must be destroyed before and of your weapons can lock
onto the large guns. Around Stonehenge there are AA guns and SAM sites, plus
there is an AA gun next to each of Stonehenge's guns. Each of the guns have
three targets on them, it doesn't matter which one you hit, they all can
destroy the gun.

Advice: The first thing you will want to do in this level is destroy the radar
jammer in the middle of the guns. A bomb, a missile or a few shots from your
plane's gun will take it out. After that you can start taking out the guns or
you can take out the AA weapons defending the area first. Once you have
destroyed all of the guns you will get a mission update. You will have to face
the Yellows again. This time you will have to shoot one down. It's not as hard
as it sounds, you can shoot one down with just your normal missiles. If you are
having trouble, you can always go back to base and choose a better secondary
weapon.

Ace Location: North of Stonehenge

------------------------------
2.13: Mission 13 - Safe Return
------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 1300 points within the time limit; Destroy the four
enemy fighters

Time Limit: 7 minutes; 15 minutes

Description: In this mission a large portion of the map will be covered by
radar jamming. This jamming is caused by radar jamming balloons. You will have
to shoot at least 13 of them down in this mission within the time limit, but
you can't really use your radar and you can't lock onto the balloons with your
missiles, so you will probably have to use your guns to destroy them. To make
things worse, it is foggy and there are plenty of mountains in the map.

Advice: One of the easiest ways to do this mission is just go slow and go back
and forth through the valley you start in. If you are going slow you can look
around for balloons to destroy and not overtake them when you try to destroy
them. Note that you can use your radar to find them. The dots on your radar
actually are the balloons, it's just hard to tell since the dots go on and off
your radar so quickly. Once time runs out you will have to deal with four enemy
fighters. These are just normal planes and you have plenty of time to destroy
them, so it shouldn't be much of a problem to do.

Ace Location: Directly to the north of your starting position, past the area
where there is radar jamming

----------------------------------
2.14: Mission 14 - Breaking Arrows
----------------------------------

Objective: Destroy all of the target cruise missiles

Time Limit: 20 minutes

Description: This is another mission with only air targets. They are mostly
cruise missiles, but there are some planes. It is very important that you
destroy these cruise missiles very quickly. If they get to the bottom of the
map, you will fail.

Advice: In this mission your only targets are air targets, so you should
take some kind of anti-air missiles as your secondary weapons. The first group
of missiles is easy enough to destroy. Just get behind them and take each one
out with a missile of your own. Once you destroy them, or after a certain
amount of time, a second group of cruise missiles will appear. There are more
of them and they are a bit harder to destroy them. Once you get behind them and
start destroying them they will split into to groups. One will move a bit west
and the other will move to the east. After those have been destroyed one final
one will appear. This one doesn't move in a straight line and is much harder to
destroy. You also don't want to get all that close to this missile, when you
shoot it there will be a very large explosion. Just keep firing at it and
eventually one of your missiles will hit.

Ace Location: Northeast of your starting position, near where the second wave
of missiles appears

-------------------------------
2.15: Mission 15 - Emancipation
-------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 2000 points within the time limit; Shoot down all six
enemy bombers

Time Limit: 10 minutes; 10 minutes

Description: This level consists of three big areas where most of the ground
targets are. These are New City, Old Towne and the airport. Most of the targets
in these areas are things that can't hit you, such as tanks and hangars, but
there are also a lot of AA guns and SAM sites in them. In addition to the
ground targets in these areas, there are also lots of enemy fighters above
them. With those fighters are some Yellows, just like in Mission 8. This time
if you shoot one down they won't all fly away, though.

Advice: Like in the other missions where there were large groups of ground
targets, I suggest that you go into one of the areas with the targets, destroy
all of the targets and move onto the next. Although before you do that, head to
the government complex northwest of where you start. There are some targets
there that are worth lots of points. Once those are gone move on to the bigger
groups of targets. Once you are in one of the areas with the bigger groups of
targets, it's best to take out the AA guns and SAMs first. There are lots of
them in each area and it is very easy for them to do lots of damage to you.
Once the initial time limit runs out you will get a mission update. Six bombers
are heading to New City from the western side of the map. Just get behind them
and destroy each one with two regular missiles.

Ace Location: In the area between Old Towne and New City, south of the airport

-----------------------------------
2.16: Mission 16 - Whiskey Corridor
-----------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 3500 points within the time limit

Time Limit: 20 minutes

Description: Out of all of the missions in the game, this one easily has the
most targets for you to destroy, almost all of which are ground targets. There
are about six main groups of targets here, plus some individual targets that
are separate from the rest. To the west of where you start are two small bases.
Both of these bases have tanks, pillboxes, artillery and tents for you to
destroy and have AA guns and SAMs defending them. Northeast of these and north
of where you start is the central line of resistance. Here most of the targets
are tanks, plus there are some AA guns and SAMs. Once all of the targets here
have been destroyed more will appear. To the east of that is Old Anchor Point
City. Here there are tanks, artillery, AA guns and SAMs. When all of the first
sets of targets here have been destroyed more will appear. The next group of
targets is the artillery that is a off to the north of Old Anchor Point City.
Here there are various pieces of artillery to destroy, a SAM site and an AA
gun. The last group of targets is the city west of the artillery. Here there
are more tanks, tents, AA guns and SAMs, plus some flak guns.

Advice: Again you will want to destroy one group of targets, move on to the
next and repeat. When you first come to a group of targets you will want to
take out the SAMs and AA guns. On this mission it's especially easy to be
careless and get killed. Other than that this mission shouldn't be very
difficult, you have so much time that you can take out almost all of the
targets on the whole level, much less enough to get 3500 points.

Ace Location: Northwest of the two small bases in the southeastern section of
the map

------------------------------------
2.17: Mission 17 - Siege of Farbanti
------------------------------------

Objective: Score at least 2100 points within the time limit; Destroy the Yellow
Squadron

Time Limit: 12 minutes; 18 minutes

Description: This is another level where there are a large number of ground
targets for you to destroy. Unlike most levels like this, these targets are not
mostly together in groups, they are all spread out through a city. These
targets include tanks, AA guns, SAM sites and some ships and subs. Once you
destroy most of the targets that are initially there, more will appear all over
the city.

Advice: Since the targets on this level are spread out, you can't play it like
the others with a lot of ground targets grouped together and destroy each
group at a time. Instead you have to go after them individually. First go after
all of the SAMs and AA guns that are littered throughout the city, then start
taking out the other targets. Once time runs out, you get to face the Yellows
again. This time you have to shoot every one of them down. If the plane you
are using has any good anti-aircraft missiles as a secondary weapon, go back to
base and get them. They can make things a little bit easier. They shouldn't be
more difficult than when you shot one of them down a few missions ago. Just try
to hit them from behind and avoid their missiles.

Ace Location: Far to the northwest of the city, near the coast

---------------------------
2.18: Mission 18 - Megalith
---------------------------

Objective: Destroy the generators; Destroy the big missile

Time Limit: 20 minutes; 30 minutes

Description: The targets that you have to destroy in this mission are very
unique. You won't be able to destroy them by flying in from above and dropping
a bomb or firing a missile. You will have to fly inside of Megalith itself to
get to them. All three of the first targets that you have to destroy are
accessed by tunnels. Two of these tunnels can be entered from the south side.
If you look on your radar you will see a green arrow that leads to the entrance
of each tunnel. The third generator is in a tunnel that you can get into from
either the east or the west. Again, there are green arrows pointing to those
entrances. Once those have been destroyed one more target that you have to
destroy plus four other optional targets will appear. The four optional ones
are just missiles that will eventually be launched, once they launch you can't
get them. The target that you have to hit is accessed by a tunnel, just like
the others. The entrance to the tunnel is on the south side and there is an
arrow pointing to it. The only way out is right above the missile you have to
destroy, just fly out from between the panels that are opening. In addition to
all of that there are also a lot of aircraft between where you start and
Megalith. These aircraft are Yellows, but aren't as tough as the Yellows from
the last mission.

Advice: When you start, you can either fight the Yellows or ignore them. You
don't have to destroy them to beat the mission. Either way, the tunnels that
you have to fly through are very narrow and not very high. You will have to fly
very slowly, but not too slowly because stalling will almost certainly cause
you to crash, and avoid the walls. Don't let that worry you, though. It still
isn't very hard to make it through the tunnels and hit the targets, it's even
likely that you will be able to do it on your first try.

Ace Location: North of Megalith

===============================================================================
                               3. Other Modes
===============================================================================

************************************
3.1 - Trial Mode
************************************

This mode only becomes available once you have beaten the game. In this mode
there are five different missions, all of which challenge a different skill. I
don't believe you get anything for doing this, but these missions are a fun way
to test your skills. On these missions you can get a rank just like in the
real missions, C, B, A or S. Getting a B rank on one mission will open up the
next one so you can play it.

--------------------------------
Trial Mission 1 - Target Sweeper
--------------------------------
In this mission there is a long line of targets, mostly air but some ground,
that is in a kind of a 'S' shape. You have to destroy as many of them as you
can within 1 minute 50 seconds. In order to get a B rank on this mission you
must score about 4000 points.

--------------------------
Trial Mission 2 - Dogfight
--------------------------
In this mission there are a large number of aircraft for you to shoot down.
There are some that are worth few points (F-4s), some that are worth a medium
amount of points (EF-2000s) and some that are worth a lot of points (F-22s).
You have 2 minutes to shoot down enough to get a B rank, which you get at 1000
points.

----------------------------
Trial Mission 3 - Goose Hunt
----------------------------
This mission is like the last one, except your missiles can't lock onto the
other planes. You have to use your guns to shoot them down, unless you are VERY
good with missiles. Like the last mission, there are different planes that are
worth different amounts of points. You need to get 400 points to get a B rank
in this mission and you will have 1 minute 30 seconds to do that.

-----------------------------
Trial Mission 4 - Acrobat Ace
-----------------------------
Instead of destroying targets, this mission has you flying through green rings.
There are a total of 24 of them that you have to fly through. You have no time
limit, but in order to get a B rank you have to do this in under somewhere
around 1 minute 30 seconds.

--------------------------
Trial Mission 5 - Face Off
--------------------------
Here you have to destroy the five Yellows as quickly as possible. To get a B
rank on this mission you have to do this in under 1 minute or something close
to that.

************************************
3.2 - Versus Mode
************************************

If you couldn't tell, versus mode is the multiplayer mode of the game. There
are initially five stages to play on and once you beat the game and play versus
mode on that save, three more stages will be unlocked. Stages one and two here
are ground target competitions. There are many ground targets to destroy and
whoever reaches the target score first or whoever has the most points when time
runs out wins. Stages three and four are air target competitions, these are the
same as ground target competitions except the only targets are aircraft. The
fifth stage, and the last of the initial stages, is a dogfight. There are no
targets other than your opponents plane and whoever shoots down the other
person enough to get the required points, or whoever has the most points when
time runs out wins. As for the stages you unlock for beating the game, stage
six is an air target competiton and the last two are dogfights.

Once you pick a level to play, you will be taken to a screen where each player
can choose their aircraft and you can adjust the victory count, which is how
many points either player needs to get to win. On the bottom of the screen you
can see which plane each player has picked, which secondary weapon each player
has picked for their plane and the victory count. The airplanes and secondary
weapons available depends on the save you are using. You can use any aircraft
and secondary weapon that have been purchased on the current save.

Once you actually start playing things are essentially the same as in single
player, except each player only has half of the screen. Player 1 is on the left
and player 2 is on the right. Note that you cannot change to the cockpit or
third person views in this mode.

************************************
3.3 - Free Mission
************************************

Like trial mode, this mode only becomes available after you have beaten the
game. All this mode does is let you replay all 18 missions from the game. After
you select 'Free Mission' from the menu, you can choose what difficulty you
want to play on and then pick what mission you want to play. You can also see
the best ranking you got on each mission on that difficulty, your best time for
the mission on that difficulty and your best scores for the mission on that
difficulty. Once you pick a mission to play you will be taken to a menu where
you can start the mission, choose your aircraft and secondary weapons, watch
the briefing for the mission again, save and do something called 'Free Flight'.
Free Flight lets you fly around in the level, except you have no mission and
there are no targets. You can freely fly around the level. For some reason
Free Flight gives you a time limit of 30 minutes to be in the level.

                                4. The Planes
===============================================================================

This section lists the stats of all the planes in the game that you can use.
Speed, air to air, air to ground, mobility, stability and defense are the stats
listed for each plane in the game. Since in the game these stats are
represented by a bar, I listed the stats as (From lowest to highest) Low,
Medium-Low, Medium, Medium-High and High. Gun bullets lists how many bullets
the plane's gun has, missiles lists how many missiles the plane has and
secondary weapons lists what secondary weapons the plane has, how many of each
type it has (This part is the number in parentheses after the name of the
weapon), what each one does and it's value (What it buys and sells for). Under
the planes, value also lists how much they buy and sell for. The normal value
refers to how much the standard plane and the plane with the first alternate
paint job buys/sells for and the Ace value refers to how much the Ace version
of the plane buys/sells for.
