Jono2 is literally impossible to miss; he is a major roll in the story
line. Once you get back to ancient times, just go to the old dueling
grounds and he'll meet you there

Jono2 isn't really that hard to beat; his most powerful cards are 3
Red-eyes B. Dragons, Gitla the D. Knight, and the Flame Swordsman.
He has most of the cards in his deck as he does in the show.
Here are some cards that will help:

This early in the game you should probably rely on fusions, here are
some basic ones,
Female + Rock = Mystical Sand (2100/1800)
Female + Plant = Queen of Autumn Leaves (1800/1500)
Female + Beast = Nekogal #2 (1900/2000)
Female + Spellcaster = Dark Witch (1800/1500)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Rock = Stone D. (2000/2300)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Plant = B. Dragon Jungle King (2100/1800)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Machine = Metal Dragon (1850/1750)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Thunder = Thunder Dragon (1600/1500)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Warrior = Sword Arm of Dragon (1750/2030)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Time Wizard = Thousand Dragon (2400/2000)
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Aqua + Thunder
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Rock + Thunder
Dragon < 1600 ATK + Plant + Thunder

The Best Cards that Jono2 will give you are the Red-Eyes B. Dragon and
the Meteor B. Dragon although he does give many decent Warrior monsters
but only about 1800 atk.
