Silverload

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For those of you who don't know, Silverload is only the coolest graphic
adventure on the Playstation (so far). If you like graphic adventures, or just
want a good horror story, this game is it. What follows is a complete
walkthrough for the game. While playing Silverload, I found a couple of obscure
points that were near impossible to figure out. I've marked these with an '*' so
you can check your own progress against mine. The reason I have put this on the
web is so that other players might benefit. I always said that if I could make
it through this thing, I would put it on the web. So here goes!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beginning Screen

Start by talking to the man sitting by the fire. He'll set up the main plot for
you. As a rule(with some exceptions), use all of the conversation options
available. You should receive some food rations from the man. Now walk into the
wagon on the left. Talk to the people there. Get the compass from the man.
Operate the chest on the right to open it, then get the teddy bear and
goggles(under the bear). Use the goggles on your face icon, and use the compass
on your hand icon. Leave the wagon and walk into the middle of the screen to
enter the storm.

Storm
Click the boot icon on the side(left, right, or top) of the screen the compass
points to in order to make it through the storm. You'll come out at the town of
Silverload. Remove your goggles and compass into your inventory.

Night One

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Town Intro

Walk through the gates, and follow the road through the next screen. You want to
do this as quickly as possible because of the various night creatures that
populate the town. If you stay outside too long, you will see a short sequence
depicting a werewolf, and you will take damage. It's not lethal, but you CAN
avoid it by moving quickly. At the screen with the view of town, look at the
middle of town. Now walk there, and you will find the hotel.

Hotel Silverload
Enter and operate the bell on the desk. Tell the innkeeper that you are only
passing through, and he'll let you stay.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE!
You can stay in the stables by going outside, entering the stable, then using
the stick you find on the door. Close the door and use the stick on the doors to
keep the werewolves from killing you while you sleep. This will save you some
cash. Credit lonewolf for that tip...

After he leaves, go behind the desk by clicking the left side of the screen. Get
the paper and key under the desk(you can read documents by using them on your
face icon.) Go upstairs, use the key the innkeeper gave you to unlock the last
door. Pick up the chair in the hall and enter your room. Close the door and use
the chair on the door to secure it. Look outside the window. Operate the doors
on the closet and get the note on the shelf inside. Now operate the chest of
drawers to reveal a secret door. Get close up and use the small key that you got
behind the desk to open the way. Go inside and talk to the man. Exit by clicking
on the bottom of the screen, and sleep in the bed. In the morning, remove the
chair, go downstairs, and get your gun from behind the desk.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hotel Environs

Outside, you see a mob beating on a man. Talk to the leader, Kain. If you say
that you'll teach him some manners, or any other provocative phrase, you'll
enter a 3D shootout with Kain and his gang. This is avoidable by using neutral
phrases. It does not make much difference which you do. If you fight, you'll
probably have to heal though. Check the left of the hotel to find the barn.
Enter and get the stick. Leave and go down the alley. Open the door here and
enter the kitchen. Get the frying pan and the butcher knife. Leave again and
continue down the alley. Enter the gun shop. Walk to the center display and buy
the bullet press. Also grab the instructions on how to use it from the top of
the display. You can also buy a new gun here, but it makes no difference. Be
sure to visit the General Store. Buy the lamp, oil, matches, and as many
medicinal items as you can.

Main Street

On the right side of the hotel you'll find the main street. Talk to the cowboy,
then enter the saloon. At the bar, buy two ales. Go upstairs and talk to Sheila.
Afterwards, leave and give the cowboy both ales. He'll fall asleep, and you can
grab the crowbar and sledgehammer from the cart. Go to Sheila's window and talk
with her again. When she tells you to hide, click the boot on the small dark
space under her bed(towards the left). You'll hide under the bed. After you
leave Sheila's, return to the graveyard outside of town.

Silverload Environs

At the graveyard, walk to the right towards the gallows. You'll need rope soon,
so continue walking to the gallows. *Click on the upper part of the screen to
climb up the gallows. Use the butcher knife to cut the rope. Get the rope from
the corpse, and grab the loaded dice from it's breast pocket. Return to town,
and main street.

Shady Side of Town

Talk with the undertaker. Notice the hook on the corpse's hand, and *the hammer
leaning against the post. Get the undertaker to take your picture, then grab the
hook and hammer while he's gone. Return to the latter half of the main street
and walk between the saloon and the town hall. Continue walking left past the
livestock place, and down the next street.

The Plot Thickens

You should find the broken down blacksmith's shop. Use the rope on the reel over
the well. Climb down the rope and get the bucket. Return outside, and retrieve
your rope. Go back to the livestock place. Enter and find the hanging pig. Use
your knife on the pig to cut it open, then place the bucket under the falling
blood to collect it. Take the bucket of blood back and into the blacksmith's
shop. Here you'll find Carl, who is transforming. Give him the blood and let him
speak. After he leaves, grab the tongs, the book, and the shovel.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Night Two

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Discovering the Dark Magic

Make your way back to the big statue on the main street, and *use the tongs on
the statue to get the token. Walk to the town hall on that same screen, and use
the crowbar to break in. Go upstairs, watch the transformation, and then look at
the pile of clothes. Get the key there. Walk around the desk and use this key to
unlock the drawer. Get another key inside. Take and read the book on the desk,
then walk back around the desk. Examine the picture on the wall, then use the
key from the drawer to unlock the the frame. Open it up and hit the switch. Now
grab the spell off the bookcase, then operate the bookcase to reveal a hidden
door. Place the scroll in your hand, and walk into the circle. You will teleport
to a secret room. Use the sledge to smash the crystal ball(center) and the
voodoo doll(left) in this room. Grab the magic scroll on the voodoo doll
closeup. Also get the potion on the right of the main screen. Teleport back to
the town hall and leave. Head towards the hotel.
Roots

Go to the left side of the hotel, back to the kitchen. Use the hammer on some of
the floorboards here to open a passageway down under the hotel. Use the crowbar
to open the crate on the left side of the screen. Look at the remains, then grab
the skull. Exit this area and go to the graveyard. In the graveyard, head right.
There are two graves that you need to dig up using the shovel. One has only a
mystic plate inside, which you should smash with your sledge. The other contains
your murdered adoptive parents. Get the locket from them. Return to Sheila's.
Talk with her, and you can sleep in her room.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day Three

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Preacher's Domain

In the morning, talk to Sheila. Ask her what you should do, then leave via the
window. Go to the undertaker's and continue right. You'll find a bridge. You may
have found this previously, but vultures prevented your crossing. Cross now,
clicking on the church in the distance. You should now see a church, which you
cannot enter, and a house. Go to the house and enter. Inside, pull down the
shade over the vulture's cage. Read the book on the table, then operate the
chair. This reveal a secret closet. Grab the robes from inside the closet. Now
walk into the next room and use the telescope to see the old train. Leave the
house and return to the bridge(and Sheila). Walk to the end of the road past the
bridge to find the mining camp. Your gate pass is the token you found on the
statue.

Mining Camp

Once you make it inside the mining camp, you'll witness Sheila's reunion with
her father. You'll also have to go through a shootout. Be at full health before
entering the camp! Afterwards, enter the hut at the back and talk with Sheila's
father. Look at the boots on the floor, then grab the key out of them. Look at
the hanging jacket and get the gloves from it. Now leave and go to the chained
door. The key you just found opens the lock. Inside, move the mine cart to the
other side of the screen. Use the gloves on your face icon, then use the oil on
the lamp. Put the lamp in your gloved hand icon, and use the matches on the
lamp. Continue into the mine. Remove the lamp and replace it with the rope. Use
the hook on the rope, then use the grappling hook you just made on the wooden
beam. Pick up the stick on the other side, and use the lamp on your hand icon
again. Go to the left to find some rocks. Smash the rocks twice to find sulfur,
which you should take. Go back one screen, then head right. Don't bother talking
to the werewolf. Simply place the sulfur at his feet and light it with a match.
Grab the pick-axe head on the ground and exit to the center. Pick up the
dynamite, then look at the piping near the ground. 'Pick up' the piping to get
silver. Return to the screen before the werewolf/sulfur, and go into the center.
Continue on until you get to the shrine screen. Use the skull on the middle of
the screen, then talk to Wolfstar. Return to the beginning of the mine. Move the
mine cart, then replace the lamp you're holding with the dynamite. Use the
matches on the dynamite stick, put it in the cart, and move it one more time.
Now place the wooden stick in your hand, and use the pick axe head on the stick.
Use this on the mine entrance to tunnel out. Leave the mine and head back one
screen from the bridge.

The Sheriff and the Silver Bullets

On the street past the statue, head right. This takes you to the train station.
WARNING: Now is the last chance you'll have to stock up on medical supplies. Put
on the goggles and walk two screens forward to reach the train. Go inside, open
the furnace, place some coal in the furnace, then light the furnace. Make sure
you have your gloves on. Put the frying pan in your hand icon, then use the
silver on the pan. Now place the pan in the furnace. Put the bullet press in
your gloved hand icon, and use the tongs to remove the molten silver into the
bullet press. You now have the silver bullets. Put your gun in your hand, and
use the bullets on the gun. When you exit, you'll have to face the Sheriff and
his crew in a shootout.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Night Three

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Final Showdown

Heal yourself now. Put the first spell scroll in your hand and head to town
hall. Go back to the teleport circle and teleport. In the next screen, light a
stick of dynamite and place it on the left hand beam. Place the second spell
scroll in your hand and step back into the circle. This takes you to the
Preacher's altar. The missing boy will run to you, and the last showdown begins.
You will face four werewolves, and each takes two silver bullets to kill.
Carefull with your reloading. The vulture creature you meet is the Preacher. It
takes several shots to kill him, so be careful. Now sit back and enjoy what
little bit of an ending there is...
