SPEED walkthrough on LUMENTAL Warrior Dragon, PC by PHOENIX from CHINA
Note: This walkthrough, instead of teaching how to use keyboard/ explain stats/
tell the location of important NPCs/ MAPs, will tell you the BOTTLENECK of each
phase of this game.
The time cost of this game is about 5 hours, and consist of 4 phases.
This walkthrough is named as "SPEED RUN" and will experience some SAVES AND
LOADS, which will take some time but is worth the effort (In this game, NO one
dare to guarantee a 100% safety!)
This walkthrough doesn't contain any maps. However, it will refer to items/NPCs
which you probably don't know where it is. See this link in case some one needs
a map:

----------------------------------------------
PHASE 1: 100 GOLD MAKES DIFFERENCE
The bottleneck in this phase is MONEY.
At the start of the game, you've got 50 gold and NOTHING. You've got your
HP/ATK/DEF @ 12/3/3, and if you play normal and buy the dagger then you've got
12/7/3. It is iffy to kill enemies with this stat and will cost more gold than
you've earn in the inns. TOO SLOW.
Don't do this, but instead, SAVE GAME and LEAVE this town! RUN AWAY from ALL
enemies you encounter and go to the southwest (lower left) of the overworld.
You will find a passage. Go along it and go south (down) and you will find a
cave.
Save often along the way and it will minimize the times you need to load after
death.
When in this cave, RUN to the 100 gold, seize it and run back to town. Remember
NOT TO engage even the weakest enemies.
This may take 10~15 mins to be successful, but is worth the time. You may get
no hurt (believe me, this is possible) or only 1HP left. Doesn't matter. Buy
Short sword and leather armor, and take sleep (inn) if HP<=3.
By this moment, you are LV1 and your status are12/11/9. This stat is fearsome
at the beginning of the game and VERY LIKELY will KILL blue slimes and yellow
jackets in ONE BLOW. Get out of the town and hunt for them would be much
easier. Wood grips can also be killed at the price of taking one blow.
Now, hunt for gold and experience at the plain SOUTH of dracoburgh (town at the
beginning of the game). Remember to go inn if HP<=3 if you are LV3 or less, and
engage blubbos only when you have sufficient HP and at least LV2.
When reach LV3 (You shouldn't have got sufficient gold for the next gear- 100
GOLD) and had just taken the inn (FULL HEALTH), save game and you are ready to
head to the cave where you had came to. Avoid engaging Tunnelers but engage
everything else, and take the Exploder. Throw this at the first Tunneler you've
encountered and keep hunting till your HP is lower than 5.
PS: Do not engage tunnelers if you don't have the copper shield, since the
damage of this bastard is devastating without the shield!
By this hour, you should be at least LV4 and had 100 gold in hand (continue
hunting and replenish if you don't). Purchase the Copper Shield, 1 boost potion
and 2 small HP potions. (If you don't have enough money for the potions, make
another hunt)
When you reach LV5 and own all the 3 equipments, you will own a stat of
35/24/26 if I remembered correctly. IT'S TIME to kick the Snake Grunger's BUTT!
Stack up potions like I mentioned before
(If there is extra money, buy another one or more 1 boost and 2 small HPs for
next phase's sake. Something like 3 Boosts and 6 HPs)
Find this bastard in the cave, but before engaging, make sure you have
sufficient HEALTH (>=32). Use a small potion if you are seriously wounded (it
will heal 20 HP) before reaching his location.
Save game first. This is a good habit.(Do I need to mention this?)
(Need I tell you how to engage? Take the boost potion first and STRIKES him,
take HP if HP lower than 15)
You will NOT always win because his blow hurts about 20 HP, which makes HP
potions not so effective. However, his attacks tend to MISS so there is an
acceptable change of killing him without using a lot of potions.
Upon killing him, Phase 1 is completed.
-------------------------------------------------
Phase 2 An acclerated student(warrior)
(Will I tell you that I actually skipped one grade in my education?)
The bottleneck of this phase is money and Offensive(attack) power.
Status: At least LV5 and about to LVUP, or already LV6. At least 75 gold in
hand (that's the bounty for Snake Grunger). Short Sword/Leather Armor/Copper
Shield.
If you didn't stack up extra potions as I mentioned before, or if you are
dying, return dracoburgh and replenish/restock. Buy Boosts/small HPs at a ratio
of 1:2.
If you did that, CONTINUE.
Go west of the passage I mentioned above and you will meet a desert. Continue
going west and till you hit the edge of the map you shall see a new town named
Dragonfield Park. Save often during this trip. You will run into enemies which
is not designed to be killed at this level, but you can make it.
The mystery of this is BOOST POTION. $12 cheap and useful.
In fact, you can just wander around this town and not get in until you need to
buy potions.
The enemies you run into are grey slimes/hornets/stone fists/hunters/evil
monks. The first two are rubbish. I'll mention the 3 remainings.
Stone Fists can be killed at 2 strikes after boost potion, and is likely to
miss on his blows. This one should be sweet cakes for you.
Hunters are more troublesome. He, compared to stone fists, has greater damage
on you, and also had less misses and more health. However, it is still
available to kill him after a boost potion. You may need to use small HPs
during the battle. (Most battles against stone fists doesn't even need small
HPs)
Evil monk, a russian roulette for you! Engaging him without a Steel sword is
suicide since 1 blow from him will make you dying, but he is actually fragile.
If you dare, use boost potion and strike him 2 times, praying that he MISS on
one of his blows! If that happens, he's a goner instead of you!
Running away from this bastard is usually more dangerous than be brave and
engage him. You know what to do.
In this period, drinking small HP potions is more profitable than using inn (20
gold) if your health lost is less than 40 points.
If you run out of any kind of potion, return the Dragonfield Park and pick up
potions at a ration of 1:1. My experience told me that the ratio of consumption
of the potions is this.
Also, if you reach 400 gold, buy Steel sword.
(Don't buy armor/shield- You'll find something later)
Upon the purchase of this sword, you will NOT be relying on boost potions and
kill enemies mentioned above just as easy. (Killing evil monks will be much
easier since you only need 2 blows to kill him, and without the 1 round for the
boost potion)
You should have already reached LV8, preferably LV9 if you had finished taking
the steel sword. At this hour, pick up the COPPER KEY from the loner in the
desert southeast of the city (talk to him 3 times and "yes") and FILL your item
slot with small potions. Head south and find a passage, which in the deep area
of it you will find another cave. (I don't know how to describe the way in
detail...It's to the southeast)
You may run into Goblins. but run away from them. Engaging them will need
boosts, and too costly on the limited HP potions at this hour.
Once inside the cave, use the copper key at the door, and take the Iron armor
and shield. If you have 5 or more potions in stock by then, then you can also
take the 200 gold. (Refer to the map at the top of the walkthrough if you don't
know where it is!) Return to Dragonfield park after finishing this.
I remembered that when I took the Iron armor/shield, my stat is LV9/50/44/59.
Another devastating stat for that level, and sufficient to annihilate every
enemy who dare to confront with you- in this phase.
If you are running low on potions and retreated without taking the 200 gold,
make another run.
If you did take the gold, continue.
Fill your item stock with:
3 boosts+6 small HP, if you are below LV11
6 boosts+3 medium HP, upon LV11 or above
(Upon LV11, you will have 68 HP MAX, which makes the medium potions an viable
choice. The medium potion will heal 80 points.)
(You have 10 slots, but the copper key took one)
Hunt at the entrance of the southern passage, and kill everything easily with
your bling bling equipments. Only use boost potion if you encounter a Goblin
(This bastard has too much health to kill without it).
Upon the reach of LV13, Phase 2 is completed.
----------------------------------------------
Phase 3 Superior warrior at low level
The bottleneck from now on till the end of the game, is HP MAX.
Upon LV13, return Dragonfield Park and buy 3 boosts+6 medium potions. This
time, go to the southeast of the desert. You will find that you can go south
further and meet a bridge. Cross the bridge and go north. You will find the
third and last town in business- Prestia. You will encounter new types of
enemies, in which 3 of 4 can be engaged, but will need boost potions.
Save often. I don't need to remind this.
Fighters doesn't deal a lot of damage on you, but he is high on HP. Use boost
and strikes him. Remember to use HP if yours is lower than 30. Be aware to
safety and he will kneel upon you.
Dark preacher will hurt you a lot, and have a chance to take you out in 2 blows
even if you are at full health. But he himself can be killed with 2 boosted
strikes. Considering that it's almost 50% chance that you survive 2 hits from
him(and he sometimes miss), taking him out after boost is the better choice
over running. It is less risky than the evil monk when without steel sword.
Pegasus doesn't own high HP or damage but is EVASIVE. He will not need a boost
potion if it isn't that case. Use the boost potions so that you can take him
out at the least strikes.
Great Pegasus. Too much for you. Run.
Run away from all of them if you DON'T have a boost potion or HP!
Upon the arrival of Prestia, you are very likely to have ran out of boost
potions but with a lot of medium potions left. Fill all remaining slots with
boost potions, and hunt in the desert area to the east.(There are no inferior
enemies like evil monks or goblins in the desert)
Using the inn only if you are really near to the town, because it is more
expensive than the medium potion. Despite the fact that medium potions only
heal 80, it is of little difference against a full heal.
If you are under 2 medium potions, return Dragonfield park and buy them. Again
3 boosts+6 medium potions. (I prefer not to buy elixirs because they are too
expensive, drastically hampers the profit of hunting)
Continue hunting until you reach 4000 gold, and purchase the Diamond Edge from
Prestia.(This will allow killing all 4 kinds of enemies in this area WITHOUT
boost potions)
Pile up a little more gold, buy 1 boost potion, 1 weaken, and at least 3
elixirs, you are ready for the boss fight of the 2nd cave, the Grunger King
(Refer to the map for his location)
This boss, refering to other walkthroughs, are designed to be beaten at LV20.
However, with the Diamond Edge sword and boost+weaken, there is a chance to
take him out at a level of as low as 15. I played this game at least 10 times
and it is usually LV15~16 if I instantly head to this boss after the purchase
of the Diamond Edge.
Save first, and make sure you have 70+ health.
Weaken first, then boost. Drink HP if lower than 45.
You will not always kill him because he has a chance to take you out with 2
strikes from full health.
The Offensive power and defensive power are sufficient, the bottleneck is
HPMAX. You will find that the bottleneck of HP (2 hit deaths) will happen less
if you have a level higher than 16. For LV15/16/17/18/19/20 the HP will be
108/112/125/146/158/178. Upon 125, the number will be too big for 2 hits from
this boss.
After all, you will kill him after retries.
Upon the death of this boss, Phase 3 is completed.
Phase 4 Carrier versus Fighter
Status: LV16~17, Diamond edge, Iron armor/shield
PS:I want to spit some opinion that there are NO replenish dealers across the
bridge! This forces me into carrying supplies over the tunnel!
Bottleneck: HP MAX as mentioned. You will find the fight easier with more HP
MAX in hand.
Now, if you prefer stability over speed, you can hunt another 4000 gold and
purchase the magic armor. (Don't buy the magic shield - you will find one
inside the passage) This will provide some extra defense but will cost the
corresponding time. The answer for me is NO.
Use the Inn (confirm that you are at full health upon departure), fill all
remaining slots with Elixirs and then head east of the desert. You will find a
destroyed town named Allegard. Enter it and there is a single NPC in there. If
you had defeated BOTH bosses and rescued BOTH dragon childs, he will offer you
the gold key to the cave which leads to dragon slayer's castle.
Note: He will ONLY offer you this key, if you had rescued BOTH the dragon
childs! You won't get the key without doing this!
Note again: Make sure you have 1 item slot empty when talking to him, otherwise
he will force you to drop an elixir! Drink one if you hadn't used one yet!
The things we need to do is simple after this. Take the key and travel through
the passage at the southeast of the desert! Till the Dragon slayer's lair, and
take the Dragon inherited equipments!
In the passage you will find enemies from as weak as stone fists to as strong
as Grunger Kings. Be ware of Grunger Kings and Great Pegasuses. They are likely
to kill you unexpected, especially Great Pegasuses. There's LOADS of times in
which I thought that I can kill him, resulting in my own death...
A map is a must. Refer to the top of this walkthrough for its address.
Take whatever elixirs you've found in the cave, if you have an empty slot.
DON'T take the BOOST potion! (Important)
The Super exploder and weaken are useless. You can ignore it or discard it upon
taken.
There is a magic shield and 500 gold in this passage. However, the shield only
provide small enhancement, and the gold is of no mean at such a late part of
the game.
In the cave there is your legendary father. However, he will only tell you that
you will need the "Dragon Flame" sword in order to take out the Dragon slayer.
Since he doesn't provide any loot, we can just ignore him.
PRESERVE your health, keep your way, until you reach Dragon slayer's lair.
Refer to the map and take all dragon equipments, and RETREAT. (You have no
chance of taking out the dragon slayer without sufficient medical supplies)
Upon you exit the passage and entered the land across the river, there are a
set of new enemies.
You should always be AVOIDING engaging Gold Pegasuses EVEN IF you have the
draon inherited equipments. Too evasive, too strong damage. I ever cost 4
bottles of elixirs in order to take one out!
(The reward for engaging him is lower than the Grunger Kings, which is A LOT
easier)
Great Pegasuses. Same as above.
Taking out Grunger Kings and Sorcerers will cost your health - remember that it
is LIMITED!
Return Prestia in the same way, fill your item slots with elixirs, and go
again. This time is for the head of the dragon slayer!
(In this status, you will engage the dragon slayer WITHOUT having a LV25. If
you perfer LV25, continue the hunt around Prestia until you have 11,500 EXP.
The remaining 1000 will be get on the way)
On the 2nd run, take the boost potion (drink an elixir if you don't have a
slot), and avoid engaging enemies which would cost you a lot of health. At the
end of the dragon slayer's lair is that "villian" he said. Say yes to engage
him to death!
Other walkthroughs had mentioned that the minimum level of engaging him is
LV24, I don't think so. There is a chance of taking the head of his at a level
of 22. However, your HP MAX is 198/220/230/250 from LV22 to LV25. Reaching the
higher level will do quite some help that's for sure.(You have greater chance
that a full HP sustains 3 blows) If you prefer a fast finish, then follow me
and engage him at LV 22!
Boost potion. Need I say more? (Weaken seems useless to him) In fact, after the
boost potion, You will deal MORE damage (up to 108!) to him compared to the
reverse. As a comparison, I never saw a damage taken from him of more than 89.
Use Elixir if you have a health of lower than 70, unless that you are begging
him for a weak strike under your current health! (His strikes damage vary from
44 to 89) If every full health survived 3 blows then there is a big chance that
you will successfully beating him before running out of elixirs!
Upon the defeat of him, you beat this game. Congrats!

Appendix
This game is found in a CDROM when I was a Junior high school student. It was
2001 by then. I don't know English at that date, and racked up to 35,000
Experience without saving the 2nd dragon child (I don't know how to get the
copper key). Later, I accidently received both keys and managed to reluctantly
arrived to the front of the dragon slayer with NO elixirs or dragon inherited
equipments. You all know the result. The only thing I've found is that the BGM
had changed, indicating that this is a critical battle.
This game, along with many individual producted games, accompanied me till my
entrance to the university, and left a great mark to me. Even if that games of
2015 are very different from them, I keep favor of these number-based
old-school games.
This game is repicked from dust-laden memories in 2011 or 2012 which I start
reviewing old games. I found this "SPEED RUN" technique in late 2014.
The Greatest Respect to these games which accompanied our childhood!
