200: FAQ Explained \
===============================================================================
Welcome to my TitanFall EVA-8 Shotgun FAQ. After spending time with this
weapon I decided to cover my knowledge in this FAQ. Enjoy.
======================
300: Weapon Info \
===============================================================================
"The EVA-8 is a semi-automatic shotgun, originally designed for
extra-vehicular activity, both in conventional and in exo-atmospheric
conditions."
— In-game description.
Weapon Class: Primary Weapon
Weapon Type: Shotgun
Damage
285-30 (8 pellets)
Rate of Fire: 103 RPM
Recoil: High
Fire Mode: Semi-Automatic
Fully Automatic (Amped EVA-8)
Clip Size 6 / 9 (High-Capacity Drum)
Maximum Ammunition: 54 / 81 (High-Capacity Drum)
Used by: Pilots
At first I was little worried, knowing that Shotguns in general are useless
unless close to the target and with the fast action in Titanfall I just didn’t
see any use. That’s of course before I actually used it and now it's one of my
favorite weapons and the one that got me the most kills.
It is true, the EVA-8 Shotgun is useless at long and even Mid range but
that’s why you have a secondary weapon and the ability to pick dropped weapons.
What this weapon lacks in far ranges, it makes up for it very dangerously in
close ups and that’s how you should play the game anyway unless you’re a
sniper.
All you need is a proper one hit kill to the head or body and that’s the
end of the story. As I said, Titanfall is a very fast shooter with a lot
of jumping and climbing and that’s another benefit of using EVA-8 Shotgun.
With other weapons, you need time to lock and keep firing at the target and
this could be a problem as the human players won't just stand like the AI
controlled targets.
Once someone is firing at you, you have a short window of dodging it and get
out of the way with the lowest health possible as most of it will be gone with
the other player firing at you, but you still have a small chance as the fire
needs to be steady and keep hitting you.
With the EVA-8 Shotgun you won't get that chance. As soon as you score a
close up hit, that’s it. Another hit will finish off the remaining health
of the wounded enemy if the first hit did not finish him off. The shots get
fired quickly as well so the enemy have little time to react and try to escape
of fight back unless he fires first and even if he did, you still have the
advantage of power.
The enemy can be running away giving you a two to three shots to finish him
off before he climbs up or goes behind a wall.
The style of the gameplay when holding the EVA-8 Shotgun is to careful
advance forward until you Sunday meet the target at a considerable range.
You then have to evaluate what weapons is he using and how far can he run
or vise vice versa as exchanging fire is not always a good idea even if you
have the advantage.
Engage the enemy when you are close enough and avoid the fight when your not,
the golden rule of using the EVA-8 Shotgun. Check the sections below for more
in depth strategies.

'-- 310: Against Pilots-------------------------------------------------------'
Keep in mind that the enemy your fighting is human controlled so he/she
will adjust and try to overpower you. Know what your doing, go with a
strategy even if not perfect or complete. Don’t just run toward the target
as soon as you see one. Take a quick look at the surroundings. Is he alone?
Anyone coming? Friends nearby? I know that you don’t have much time but
after playing a few matches you will only get better and learn how to quick
think.
Use the surprise tactic. Once you spot an enemy while he or she is yet to
see you, try to sneak up or wait around the corner for a surprise attack
provided he or she was heading your way. With the power of your weapon, he
or she will have very little time to react, much less to overpower you but
don’t be fooled, things can go south quickly if your not ready.
Use Arc Grenades: Throwing an Arc Grenade will blind the target for a few
seconds if caught in the blast giving you a golden opportunity to take him
out.
Use the chaos: Use the chaos to your advantage; Pilots battling each other
or grunts will rarely notice you provided you stay reasonable out of sight
so take the opportunity when your target is engaging with another opponent.
Sneaking in between grunts while ignoring their fire for the greater good
of killing the pilot. Grunts deal way less damage than pilots. Not to say
that they are useless as I myself was taken down many times but balance the
situation out.
Take the drop ship opportunity: When you win the round, remaining enemy
Pilots will try to escape by drop ship most likely waiting at the evacuation
zone; take the opportunity to surprise them at their escape point.
Run when needed. Running away can be the best strategy once your surrounded
or an enemy spotted you from a distance. Remember, the EVA-8 Shotgun is
useless at long ranges and switching weapons take time so hide behind a wall
or anything then switch weapons and attack. Remember that your enemy knows
your hiding to switch weapons so he is probably coming at you or trying to
surprise you be coming in from a different direction.
Attacking pilots on top of titans is not recommended as you need to be
close to make any damage. This keeps you open for attacks but at the same
time you can take out the pilot with one or two shots if done correctly.
Not worth the risk. Get to a safe spot, switch your weapon and fire away.
When both you and an enemy Pilot are in the air due to many reasons like
Titan ejects, you have the advantage of a fast kill. The enemy will usually
be at the same height as you or lower so keep your aim ready.
Map advantages: Learn each maps hideouts and buildings.
Take out the enemy while he is hacking a terminal. He will be defenseless
for a short time and open for easy attacks.
Use Cloak for a surprise attack or stim for a faster movements to attack or
runaway. Overall I prefer Stim as having faster movements to move and even
heal is far more important than to remain almost invisible for a short time.
Not to mention humans can still spot you.
Solving the long distance dilemma
For balance reasons, the EVA-8 Shotgun is not effective against long
distance Pilots. The best strategy is to kill a grunt and pickup his weapon
as a secondary gun which will most likely be the R-101C Carbine. Switch to
your new secondary weapon whenever the enemy is far.

'-- 320: Against Minions/Titans ----------------------------------------------'
The EVA-8 Shotgun is a very effective weapon against minions. You can take
them out easily with a non modded version of this weapon, but to make things
even better use the Leadwall mod to spread your fire and do more damage across
the screen.
When in need of a titan, concentrate on the minions and leave the Pilots alone.
Take a group out and hide. Repeat until Titan is ready.
Taking out Titans is a whole different thing. Throw an arc grenade on a Titan
to confuse it and jump on it for a chance to fire a few manual rounds and take
off once the electric smoke is released. You can also fire a few shots, jump
off while the enemy Pilot ejects from the titan to investigate and take him
down.
Firing directly at titans is not recommended nor effective.

'-- 330: Weapon Mods ---------------------------------------------------------'
While your stuck with the default weapon attachment, Iron Sights it is not
that bad. EVA-8 Shotgun deals enough damage fired at any part of the body
so your good to go.
High-Capacity Drum
Unlock: Machine War (II) Challenge: Kill 25 Spectres.
The increase of rounds from 6 to 9 may not seem like much, but it is more
than enough to be a game changer in some situations. Useful when exchanging
fire or while dodging or chasing an enemy while still trying to score a kill.
Having more rounds is better than a fast reload.
Suppressor
Unlock: If It Moves... (II) Challenge: Kill 25 Enemies.
Reduces the flash and sound of firing so that you won't appear on the enemies
radar. In exchange, an extra shot is needed at all ranges. NOT WORTH IT. This
is not counter strike, this is a fast paced battle.
Leadwall
Unlock: Top Gun (II) Challenge: Kill 15 Pilot(s).
Increases the firing range a little but reduces the damage done. Still better
than Suppressor as it will enable you take down more targets near each other
but don’t expect this to work against pilots as this mod lowers the damage
overall.

'-- 340: Weaknesses ----------------------------------------------------------'
Don’t engage in the open. This will leave you defenseless against attacks
from long range. Stay inside and attack only when it is safe.
Always move while firing. Staying still reduces your chance of surviving
the fight especially at close range. Always move.
Move out of sight once spotted. In a rare scenario, you can still land a kill
once spotted and fired at but this is a very risky move and not recommended.
Never directly engage a titan. Self-explainer.
Do not reload in a risky situation. Example: You just killed an enemy but
you still hear or see other grunts or Pilots around. Even with the short
reload time you still open yourself for an easy target.
Do not follow a Pilot into the open area as nearby enemies may be around
making it very hard to take everyone out.
Don’t end up surrounded in the middle of a fight. Landing in the middle of
a fight will likely get you killed.
Disengage immediately enemies are following you. Run and hide.
Avoid fighting once wounded. Wait and heal before continuing unless there
is not way out.

'-- 350: Scenarios -----------------------------------------------------------'
You are on top of a building with an enemy below.
Firing from a long distance will do nothing but draw unwanted attention to
yourself. Now before I tell you what to do, there are some factors to consider.
Is the enemy alone? Where is the enemy going? Are there any allies nearby?
Titans? In short: avoid firing or dropping unless your sure that the area is
secure with no titan nearby. Be prepared to run away once things go differently
than planned.
An enemy is open with both friendly and enemy titans fighting nearby.
Don't engage. Titans move faster than pilots making it very easy and
likely that you will be crashed as concentrating on the enemy and the
nearby surroundings is too much in most situations unless your comfortable
and spent a lot of time mastering this game.
You hear a nearby shooting coming from a corridor.
Keep your aim ready and move forward to investigate. Even if there are two
enemies, you will most likely take one down if not both unless they spotted
you from a distance. Throw a grenade and storm forward.
Someone is coming at you while blasting from a mid range distance.
Immediately run away and try to hide behind anything or get to higher ground
or simply wait behind an obstacle to regain health and fire back. Note that
hiding behind an obstacle while the enemy sees you will most likely result in
the enemy throwing a grenade or plant a mine.
Allot of Titans are roaming the area.
As tempting as it is, do not show up to their view sight. You cannot take
out Titans with this, or any other weapon. As soon as you jump on one, the
gas will kill you or another titan will. Try hunting indoors for grunts or
even pilots to bring your own Titan.
