First, I don't have an extremely working knowledge of Japanese and I don't
pretend to, this guide is given as is and hopefully will help you play through
the game with little trouble. This is just for a friend who is already used to
playing import RPGs, so nothing is totally completely explained; just enough to
tell you what's what and where you go. If I get a lot of requests to put the
original Japanese names along with the item/magic list, then I'll do it. But for
now it's as is.
Random Updates
6/26/04 : I decided to add in a weapons list for the heck of it.
10/10/04: I finally decided to work on the FAQ again. Added an Armor table and a
couple revisions to the walkthrough... Also lost my save, so I'm replaying it.
10/11/04: Added in a magic list. Will try my darndest to complete it...
10/15/04: Began Chapter 2 walkthrough.
11/06/04: After prodding by the Aron, I have continued my walkthrough up to the
end of Chapter 3.

WALKTHROUGH
Prologue - The Little Pilgrims
-------
Ragpick Village
-After recieving the knife from your father, head to the western field to kill
the boar for some tasty dinner meat.
-After killing the boar, head west to find Chris being assualted. Save her.
-Return and go with Chris to chief Toruta's house and listen to him babble.
-Before returning home, stop by the equipment shop and buy
"Swordsman Guidebook #1"
-Now go home and here comes a lengthy event about the Silver Knife.
-Get Rapp's Cane from ol' man Rapp (north) and equip it to Chris (you have to
do this before you leave the town).
Green Road->Crystal Lake->Gaza Cave
-After meeting the Shinon family, you'll find out ol' man Rapp is a "great magic
user" and an immense amount of talking commences at his house.
-Following the road, when it turns left it leads to Rudea Gate. I don't think
anything important happens here, but I seem to recall talking to a gate guard a
lot.
-Keepin' on goin', you'll arrive at Crystal Lake. Swordsman guidebook #2 is
somewhere to the left under the bridge.
-Chris will want you to nab something out of the water. It's a White Stone,
which you should equip on her. There's some other useless items to be found too.
-Since the bridge is out, you'll have to pass by through Gaza Cave to the south.
Deane no Sharine
-Buy swordsman textbook #3
-This might be important (can't remember), read the books in the library
(Pilgrams Diary, Witch Pilgrims, Sharine's Diary, Journal, and Captain Thomas).
-Note that after leaving Deane you can cross the bridge over Crystal Lake.
Ripple Beach
-Random crap, something to do with the three moss covered rocks.
-Search around until you find something. I honestly can't remember.
Raguna
-here you can read Female Swordsman Safiy Volume 1 - The Two Swordsmen which
I have no clue what it does.
-Uh oh , you get seperated from Chris. Great. Talk to every single person in the
town.
-Go to the weapon shop and examine the door. Talk to the shop owner, then go to
the door again. Chris will appear and you'll find a sick person.
-Now go buy medicine, somewhere, I can't remember for the person.
-Talk to Grandpa Hack, in the southeast house.
-Be sure to upgrade your equipment.
The Falcon's Talon
-Head to the pier and rent the ship. First thing to do is to clean 8 rooms. That
means every room.
-Read a porn mag in your cabin to have Chris come and interrupt you. Whee, fun.
-Go talk to everybody, Gordon will be busy writing a song about himself.
-2nd day. After cleaning the decks, go read the captain's log. After talking
to everybody again, the captain will tell you to lookout on the bow. Wait for 5
seconds, Chris will appear and take down the clothes. Wait another 5 seconds and
the couple will come up complaining of a lost watch. After talking to the
captain, go to the kitchen to have Chris join your party, examine your
cabin-neighbors door, talk to Heston (the man with the briefcase), and then the
sailor guarding the basement. Ol man Hack will show up.
-Back in the captains room, examine the RIGHT half of the book case and read
both books. He'll then ask you to investigate the dissapearance.
-Eventually you'll end up outside your neighbors room complaining of seasickness
-Go examine the LEFT half of the bookcase to tell you that medicine is in the
cargo hold. Go talk to the sailor and kill the rats and search for the medicine.
-When you come up everybody will be asleep. Check the sleeping man on the
front of the boat and choose 2-1-3-3. Run around and find Heston and chase him
to the back of the boat. Afterwards you should be off.
Don't worry if you get confused on the boat- Everybody I know was stuck on it
for about 3 hours a peice. Just backtrack, make sure you've checked everywhere
and talked to everyone, follow the instructions, and you shouldn't have too much
trouble.
Neeri
-there is 100p under the boat.
-Oh noez, you dropped the knife, stupid kid. Talk to everybody on the east side
of town, then go back to the river and they'll help you find it.
A walkthrough that I looked over in Japanese said a couple things- one, that the
mayor of Neeri will give you a letter to give to the mayor of Alde; and if you
talk to the little boy again, he'll give you another white stone (accessory). I
did neither, and just went ahead to Alde.
[At this point the walkthrough will get clearer and more thorough, as I played
the prologue of the game a very long time ago.]
Alde
-upgrade equipment.
-talk to everybody, the captain tells you there are seals on the docks so he
doesn't wanna launch his boat. Idiot.
-Head south towards Titut, and find the old man with his leg stuck. He'll tell
you to go get the captain, Tobai.
-Tobai will offer to take you to Negar Island, so walk past the man blocking the
pier, but he wakes up the seals, blocking your path to the boat.
-Go to the man in the left room in the inn, and he'll give you seal feed.
Use this to get on the boat.
-Search around the boat a little, and then the chapter will end.
-=End of Prologue=-
Chapter 1 - The Treasure of Tegura
--------
Tegura
-Head through the forest to the town.
-Learn some new magic, buy shit, and talk to everyone.
-Talk to the chief to learn about random crap, then head north east.
Tegura Sharine
-Talk to the old man in the left room, and examine the bookcase above him.
-Head north to the magic mirror and watch the fun cutscene of destruction.
Coal Mines
-Go back to Tegura and talk to Kevin, the old man in the bottom right house.
He'll ask you to get his magical fire stones from the coal mines. Yeah. He
somehow dropped them in the bottom level.
-Head to the coal mines and have fun navigating them to the bottom. The stones
are around the sticks in the mud.
-After the wall collapses, wander around until Chris and Julio start talking
(on the middle ground in the mud).
-Some people will try and help, they'll tell you to grab a stick from the mud
(I guess its dynamite) and blow up the wall with it.
-Examine the cavein further down the path and talk to someone about it.
-Locate the stream of sand falling from the ceiling and talk to a worker.
Chris will climb up and toss down a rope.
-Return the stones to Kevin and he'll give you cash.
-Talk to the woman in the warehouse. Go back to the boat. Talk to everyone and
eventually you'll make it to Tituta.
Tituta
-Head south for quite a while and you'll eventually reach Tituta's entrance.
-Go ahead and enter, talk to everyone and upgrade equipment if necessary.
-Walking along the coast to the east of town, you'll find Alf, penniless and
hungry. Talk to him about 3 times and he'll join your party. (Be sure to notice
at this point that the guards outside will block your path).
-Now talk to the guards outside Tituta. Aluf will "convince" them to let you by.
The Long Road to Tyuell
-The monsters are gonna be stronger and more plentiful around this area, the
Jewel Coast, so I reccommend you backtrack once or twice to level up.
-At some point along the way you'll come to Nelva, a resently destroyed town by
Galga (the monster that demolished Tegura!) Talk to everybody, walk around, and
eventually the south gate guard will let you pass.
-About halfway through the very long road you'll see a merchant. You can sell
cores to make some pica.
-A screen or two later you'll meet Rody, again. He'll slay a monster and join
your party.
Tyuell
-Talk to everybody in town. You'll notice that you cannot enter the kings' house
until you do so. When you have, Alf will take over again. That night, SIR ALFRED
will leave with his trusty wizard on a boat, leaving only his ring as keepsake.
-Now you can leave and keep heading east to get to the next Sharine on the next
continent.
-You may notice monsters are a lot toughter. They don't respawn very often, so
what I did was walk all the way back up to Tituta and walk back. By the time I
got to the checkpoint, I was level 11.
Checkpoint
-As you walk in, you see a nice happy sage Rule talking to some guards. Rule
joins you, along with his sexy fire magic, and now you can continue south to
the new continent...
-=End of Chapter 1=-
Chapter 2 - The Great Battle - Bolt
Dice
-If you follow the path to the right, then you will come to a cottage with a
friend of Rule's. He will discuss the casino in Dice.
-If you follow the path south, you'll run across a boy who has lost a sheep.
The sheep is straight south in the middle of some trees. Both paths inter-
sect further down.
-As you get close to Dice, Rule will leave your party and go gamble. If you talk
to the man in the upper left corner, he will give you Saphy book 4 if you've
already purchased the first three. I don't know about the significance of this.
-Rule is on the second floor of the casino. Talk to everyone in town, and up-
grade equipment as needed.
-Feel free to leave to the south.
Dartu
-To the east side of the swamp is an old lady who has a story to tell about the
White Witch.
-Talk to everyone in town (south end of swamp) and then head to the western edge
of the swamp. You'll find a wandering bard, Troba, who lost his whatsit.
-Leave the screen, come back, and search around the small pond-area Troba is in.
You'll find his whatsit. He'll take you back to Dartu and you'll watch him break
his lute. Harhar.
-The mayor will tell you that he thinks the old lady might have a spare for some
god-only-knows reason. Go talk to her, and she'll say her son knows where they
are. Talk to her son, and he'll say that she is the one who knows. Talk to her
again, and she'll say she's positive he knows. Talk to the son one last time and
he'll go get one for you. You'll be treated to a lute-playing fest!
-Back in Dice, talk to Rule in the casino again. Try to leave, and someone will
offer you to play roulette. Go ahead and lose, get thrown out, and talk to the
guys in the inn. Rule will come and join up with you. Walk out and you'll be
at the Baron's mansion.
-Go all the way upstairs and the Baron will allow you to take Lens' for Dartu,
and no I don't know why. Search the boxes three times to get three lenses.
-Head back to Dartu and talk to the Mayor. He'll thank you.
-Head straight back to Dice and you'll be able to continue on your way, and Rule
will leave you once again.
-Start heading south and east towards Ambisch.
Ambisch
-Walk straight through the bridge connecting Chanom country to Ambisch.
-When you arrive in Dotta, you can buy Safi book 5 if you like, and then just
try and leave, twice. The guard will chase you down.
-Speak to the man in the house that you appear in.
-In order to outrun the guard, use this technique- Walk around town from the
north side and stay hidden behind the guard tower above the exit. The guard will
not chase you farther than a certain distance. Stay at this point, and then save
your game. Step down only once, time it correctly, and then run around the left
side of the tower (as the guard will approach from the right); and if you time
it correctly, and don't get caught on the edge of the building or the base of
the tower, then you can outrun him through the exit.
-Head northeast towards Bolt.
Bolt
-Here you will meet 'King Alfred' and Morisson; after being wrongfully captured
by the local guards.
-If you wish you can buy a Summon Blade for Julio (one less attack power, but
it casts Hachiyose) and buy magic for Chris if she has points to spend.
-Head east and speak to the green-haired man in the north tent.
-Leave the screen and come back, and Alfred and some others will be in the large
tent. Speak to them.
-Head north and east along the coast to the very end, speaking to all the
soldiers (there will be steps leading up to the cliffside one screen down from
the one by the seaside). After speaking to them head back to Bolt and try to
speak to Alf on his pedastal.
-Here comes a big battle! Head towards the previously mentioned area on the
stairs and listen to Alfred again. He'll tell Julio that he's the bait for the
monster Galga. After the Galga has been weakened and captured, some monsters
will spawn. This is a tough battle- set Chris to heal automatically (select the
cure icon and right click to set her to auto) and try and have your three others
attack one enemy at a time.
Congratulations! You beat your first boss... kinda.
-=End of Chapter 2=-
Chapter 3 - Illusion of the Third Gate - Bolt
-Morrison gives you a Ring of Magic Power as a reward, which you should equip.
-Leave Bolt by way of the path south of Alfred's tent and head to Ignis.
Ignis
-Head straight to the middle of the temple and watch the vision. And that's it,
you're done here. Head south and west to Andera.
Andera
-First thing to do is buy a Master Knife for Julio and a Light Cane for Chris.
-Next head up to the castle and speak to Alfred. Chris will attempt to cure the
magician who passed out fighting Galga.
-Speak to the maid in the room to the west about 4 times, and she will leave.
-Now go around and speak to everyone in the castle.
-Go back into town and speak to the innkeeper, Domingo. He'll give you a soda
for absolutely no reason.
-Return to the second floor of the castle and attempt to go to sleep.
-Chris and Julio won't be able to sleep, so head back and talk to Domingo; then
fall asleep in the inn's beds. You'll see an event with the suspicious maid and
soldier.
-The next day, a man named Etos will give you medicine. As you leave the inn,
a cook will come and take you to the castle.
-Go talk to Rody in the castle hospital. Chris will decide to stick around and
help cook.
-Now comes for the fun part, getting ingredients in town. Basically talk to
everybody, and they'll give you something random. Here is what you need--
Jagaimo(?), red wine, celery, carrots, onion, tomato puree, garlic, beets, fish
and shellfish, sour cream, spice and saffron, demigra sauce (again, ?), yogurt,
beef, and cocoanut milk (from Magisa, the magician), and curry spice (speak to
the queen and then to the maid).
-Go speak to Chris and choose something for her to make. You'll be treated to a
cooking contest scene, while Schara and Goose try to rob the castle's treasury.
-They'll hide somewhere in the first floor- search all the likely places, under
beds and tables, until you find both of them. After they manage to escape, then
Morisson will join your party. Leave Andera and head back to Dotta via the west.
Don't forget to buy magic for Chris before you leave!
Dotta
-Meet the man named Shinon and his family in the large house to the left of the
entrance. Leave Dotta and cross the bridge again.
-Head west to the Wind Valley Gate, leading to the country of Udor.
Wind Valley Gate
-Speak to the man in the northwest most room.
-Head to the southern area of the gate and you'll run into Goose. Go back to the
west exit and Goose will join your party.
