|II) INTRODUCTION|
================
Welcome to the guide for this amazingly, hilariously, and
surprisingly awesome game! You may be wondering why have I
written this guide for a game that is well over a decade old.
Well, during that time, nobody bothered to do a guide for this
laugh-out-loud game, and that saddened me. So I spent over
five hours of my life to create one.
How did I end up with this game? It came as a package with
our (mine and my parents') brand new and, at the time, high-
end IBM computer that was purchased in 1996! No, I'm not a
geezer if that's what you're thinking now, you silly 2011
folks! This was one of my childhood favourite PC games, so
I felt compelled to write a guide for it. Plus, I never beat
it before when I was a kid. So age has given me the experience.
I haven't touched the game in fourteen years. So while I don't
enjoy it as much as before (for obvious reasons), the nostalgia
attached to it made me feel I owe some respect to it. I'll just
leave it at that...

|III) ABOUT THE GAME|
===================
Well as I said in the INTRODUCTION, the game is well over a
decade old. In fact, in five years time, it will be two
decades old. In case you don't know the year of its release,
1995.
Truth be told, the game will NOT appeal to a broad audience.
It is a cartoon about an energetic, goofy, and hopelessly
clueless hero named Hyper Man with his brilliant sidekick
and companion, Emma, as they try to stop two silly aliens
from destroying their island. Sounds deep, doesn't it? =P
As I said in the INTRODUCTION, I received this game packaged
with my IBM PC. So I'm not sure if this game was sold separately
in retail. For anyone who still has the CD of this game, you
may have already seen that it has a guide of its own (click on
the "READ ME" notepad).
So why have I written another guide for this game? Simply
because that document doesn't do a good job of covering the
steps you need to take to finish the game. It does describe
certain elements of the game, such as the story of the game,
SAVE/LOAD feature, chalkboard, personal digital assistant (PDA),
environmental status screen, etc. But none of that is too useful
if you follow this guide.
Though this game has a SAVE/LOAD feature, it is highly
unlikely you would be using it because the game is
extremely short. There will be a part in the game where
you MAY get stuck and decide to call it quits before trying
again. But approximately, the game takes about an hour to
complete on a first playthrough.

|IIII) GAMEPLAY|
==============
The gameplay is so simple, it hurts. All you do is use your
mouse. You won't need any other controls, including the
keyboard. Seriously, nothing more needs to be said about the
gameplay.
========
|V) STORY|
========
I added this straight from the "READ ME" document, in case you
didn't understand my gist of its story:
The Adventures of Hyperman is an ongoing battle between Entrobe,
the most hedonistic, self indulgent, lazy blob in the Universe
and Hyperman, our Intergalactic superhero, whose job it is to
keep Entrobe locked up.
Hyperman has the ability to catch Entrobe again, but he's from
another planet and doesn't understand the scientific principles
of Earth. Emma C. Squared, the teenage genius who accidentally
released Entrobe, does, but she is helpless against the big
menacing green blob.
That's where you come in. You need to learn the basic physical
properties of Earth from Emma and guide Hyperman - the fastest,
most out of control, over-confident, junior, junior, junior
agent in the entire universe - to trap Entrobe.

|VI) WALKTHROUGH|
===============
NOTE: Each time you play this game, you will presented to a
task that is not in order with this walkthrough. In
other words, when you start the game off, you will
not see the same PDA video as the one you first saw
if you finished the game. And depending on how you play,
you will unlock different parts of the game. But the
ending of the game will be the same. So skip to a section
if it's not in order with the guide.
Click on the title screen and story script to skip ahead. Click on
the lever or the red button if you wish to skip the video.
LABORATORY
----------
Listen to Hyper Man and Emma discussing the situation at
hand about Entrobe. It is important that you listen carefully
because they will tell you what to do to progess through the
game.
You will be prompted to check your PDA, which Hyper Man
defines as a device that can upload and download items,
watch videos, and hypersize up or down (enlarge or shrink).
Click on Hyper Man to view the PDA.
You will see an amusing video of Entrobe and his cohort,
Chaos, as they mess around with a plant that becomes a mutant!
You can skip it too if you prefer.
Emma suggests heading to the forest. Click on the floor to
move the screen to the right. Before leaving, you may notice
a lava lamp to your right. Move your mouse over to it and your
cursor should turn into a catching net. Click on the lava lamp,
and voila. You have uploaded the lamp to your PDA, the first of
a series of items you will be collecting throughout the course
of this game to lure out and capture Entrobe and Chaos. Now
click on the door to exit the lab.
ISLAND MAP
----------
Click on the many trees to the left of the spaceship that
you see in the center of the map to access the forest.
FOREST
------
Watch the funny scene of Hyper Man getting beat up by the
"Terminitor" (lol) and Emma will soon suggest returning to
the lab. But before you do, click on the daisy flower next
to Hyper Man. It will be uploaded to the PDA. Now exit the
forest by clicking to the right of the game's screen.
ISLAND MAP
----------
When you see the map, you may immediately notice that the
forest you got out of has been torn to shreds by the Terminitor.
We will be coming back later. Now click on the lab.
LABORATORY
----------
Listen to Hyper Man and Emma to receive some clues about
building a mutant. You will notice Hyper Man changing the
look of what is known as the evolutionary tank. Click on
the tank.
Emma will give you a hint on how to find a creature for a
mutant. On the upper screen you will see a counter with
zeroes (0), and on the lower screen you will see the
following:
ON/OFF - Exit the evolutionary tank to go back to the lab
Thermometer - Click to adjust the temperature and see what
creatures emerge the hotter it gets
Water drop - Click to adjust the amount of water that will
result in different creatures emerging, depending
on the temperature of the thermometer
Music buttons - This just plays one of the five tunes you will
hear as you play the game
Each time you click on the the thermometer and/or water drop,
you will see the environment change significantly. Clicking on
the counter will result in seeing different kinds of creatures
associated with that timeline. To learn about a creature, guide
your mouse over to it to change your cursor into a catching net,
then click on it.
You're looking for the perfect creature to fight that mutated
bug you saw in the forest. So do the following:
- Click on the counter twice to set the timeline to 10,000,000
- Click on the water drop once
You should see a giant frog on the screen. Click on the frog
and it will become the mutant of your choice. Now exit the
evolutionary tank.
Exit the lab and click on the ruined forest on the map to
enter.
RUINED FOREST
-------------
After listening to Hyper Man, click on the building on the top
center of the screen.
COLISEUM
--------
You will be inside the "Coliseum" where Hyper Man and Emma,
and Entrobe and Chaos will watch the two mutants fight on a
boxing stage. The frog you chose should win the match.
After exiting the Coliseum, you will learn that Entrobe's
mutant has been downloaded to the PDA. Now exit the Coliseum
by clicking around the bottom left of the game's screen, then
exit the forest.
ISLAND MAP
----------
On the map, click on the spaceship in the center.
SPACESHIP TRAP
--------------
After listening to Hyper Man joking around, click to go
inside the ship.
Click on Hyper Man to activate the PDA. Now, where it
says "LOAD" with an upper and lower arrow, click on the
lower arrow to download the item currently displayed on
the PDA screen. You should see Entrobe's mutant first, so
download that, followed by the other two items you have
collected so far. Shut off the PDA when you're
done.
Exit the ship and Hyper Man will ask you to activate it.
Do so by clicking on the lever. Apparently, the items you
have brought into the space ship are not enough to lure
Entrobe and Chaos, so you will need a few more. Exit the
area and return to the lab.
LABORATORY
----------
After listening to Hyper Man and Emma, click on him to
watch Entrobe and Chaos' latest antics. When you're done
watching or skipping the video, Emma will soon suggest
heading to the mine shaft. Exit the lab and click on the
cave with all the mountains to enter the mines.
MINE SHAFT
----------
Once inside, you will learn that a bomb has been planted
and must be defused, or half the island will be destroyed!
Click to the right to enter deeper into the cave. You will
see the bomb frozen in a block of ice. After Hyper Man and
Emma have finished talking, guide your mouse over to a bunch
of coal just below the bomb. Your cursor will turn into a net,
allowing you to upload it to the PDA. Now exit the mines and
return to the lab.
LABORATORY
----------
Emma will suggest using mirrors to direct the sunlight to
melt and diffuse the bomb. Click on the computer and you
will access the optical reflection controller.
Listen to Emma for further clues. Here is a briefing from
the "READ ME" document about this task:
"Use Emma's Optical Reflection Controller to experiment
with light angles and reflection in order to defuse the
bomb at the end of the mine shaft."
This part of the game, in my opinion, is a bit tedious and
could take a while to solve.
Before you begin, click on the right navigational arrow next
to the TEST button. Go all the way right until you see the
frozen bomb. See all those mirrors? Starting from where you
begin, which is all the way left, you have to click on each
mirror to adjust its direction, then click the TEST button to
see if the sunlight connects from one mirror to another.
Your goal is to adjust most (not all) of the mirrors to
create a connecting path of sunlight that will lead to
the frozen bomb, and thus deactivate it. This is not TOO
difficult, but requires some patience to solve.
On my first try, it took me half an hour to figure out. Take
it one mirror at a time and create a line connection. When
you have a connection between one mirror and another, do the
same with the rest of the mirrors, making the adjustments.
Unfortunately, this puzzle is really hard to put into words.
So I can't help you any more than the hints I've given you.
You'll be making a lot of adjustments, such as going back to
the same mirror you made connection with another mirror, and
not with the other. Be sure to click on the right navigational
arrow to see the other mirrors you will have to adjust if your
line goes out of the screen.
Once you know what you're doing, you will have it solved.
Congratulations if you finished it! It's not THAT difficult
anyway. After the bomb has been diffused, click on Hyper Man
to watch the video of Entrobe and Chaos on the PDA. When finished,
Hyper Man will come up with the idea of launching himself on a
catapault.
Exit the lab and click on what looks like a catapult on the map.
If you still don't know what a catapult looks like, click on the
thing just to the right of the castle. There, happy? =P
COWTAPULTING
------------
After listening to Emma's helpful hint, you will have to adjust
the catapault. It will have to be adjusted in such a way so that
Hyper Man barely lands in the castle. If the adjustments are
incorrect, however, you could hit the dirt, end up into the
castle's moat, or just go over it entirely. Make the following
adjustments:
- Make sure that the launcher pad is all the way down. Do not
adjust it any further up. If, for some reason, you need to
adjust the launcher pad all the way down, click on the wheel
just under it
- On the middle part of the catapault, Click on the dotted lines
to the right to adjust the crossbar
Now click on the launcher to launch (cow) Hyper Man, and you
should land right into the castle.
CASTLE
------
Watch or skip the ensuing PDA video. Hyper Man is trying to
escape the castle on a balloon, but doesn't know how to pilot
it! After listening to Emma, your goal is to fly the balloon
over the mountain and land on the marker. Problem is, the
strong wind currents will cause such turbulence that will make
your flying the balloon a difficult challenge.
You have the vent control lever (which controls the direction
of the balloon) and you have the fuel control lever (which
controls the height of the balloon). You will see arrows
filling the sky. That is the wind. The arrows will guide the
balloon according to their directions, so you will need to
control the altitude and direction accordingly.
I haven't been able to solve this mini game, as I crashed
near the mountain every time. If you want to learn more on
flying the balloon, you can head back to the lab, visit Emma's
office (which is to the left of the lab's main room), click on
the chalk board, and listen to Emma's lecture about it.
You will be given a certain number of tries to get it right.
If you have attempted the mini game that certain number of
times without making it past the mountain, you can still
progress through the game. So don't worry if you can't do it.
ISLAND MAP
----------
The balloon over the castle should be gone from the map after
the failed attempts, so go to the lab. Click on Hyper Man to
view the PDA video. You will learn of Entrobe's weakness: his
teddy bear! If you can get the bear from his castle and place
it inside the space ship trap, Entrobe will come for it and be
caught! Do as Emma says and head for the castle.
CASTLE
------
As soon as you arrive, watch the ensuing video. It's HILARIOUS!
Emma has shrunk. Listen to her instructions and head back to the
castle.
Listen to Emma again for a hint of where she is, then click
Hyper Man to turn the PDA on.
First, click on any part of the room you're in to reveal an
object. Next, click on the upper arrow of where it says LOAD
to upload the item. Hyper Man will suggest heading to the lab
and using the electron microscope to view the sample of the
item you uploaded. But before you do, take two more samples.
Make sure you take the ones from the carpet and bed. Shut your
PDA off when Hyper Man says you're done. To exit, click to the
left edge of the game's screen.
LABORATORY
----------
Back in the lab, click on Hyper Man to open the PDA. Download
the samples by clicking the arrow below LOAD. Hyper Man will
automatically walk over to the green microscope. After listening
to his funny remarks, you should be staring at the exterior of
an ant. Anyway, view everything for each category and listen to
what Hyper Man has to say about them. Click on the question mark
to select another category.
When you're done, go back to the castle to get more samples.
CASTLE - LABORATORY
-------------------
Samples you have already uploaded will not be added to the PDA.
When the PDA is full, go back to the lab and repeat the process:
download from PDA, view the microscope, etc.
When you're in the castle again, you should spot a flower next
to the throne, right? Click for the PDA, then click the upper
arrow of HYPERSIZE. Emma should grow back to her original size.
Now take Entrobe's teddy bear and exit the castle.
ISLAND MAP
----------
On the map, click on the space ship. Enter the ship and
download the two items you should have: coal and the teddy
bear. Exit the ship, click on the lever, and watch the ensuing
video. Despite knowing it is a trap, Entrobe and Chaos willingly
fall for it and are sent off to space, never to do harm to the
island ever again!
Congratulations! You have beaten the game! Enjoy the credits!
You can skip them if you want, but that will close the game.
Now play it all over again if you loved it =P
