| STREET FIGHTER V! |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Announced in December of 2014, Street Fighter V was issued on the 16th of
February, 2016. It is a cross-platform title, shipping on the Sony Playstation
4 as well as PC. The initial release features 12 returning fighters spanning
the SF universe. Four new fighters were also added and a first season of six
DLC characters was also announced. A subsequent season of DLC fighters began,
also in 2016, and runs through the end of 2017.
Considering the long support for Street Fighter IV and the final character
tally, (44, after an initial cast of 16), it'd be surprising for SFV to *not*
see more updates.
However, that's all just speculation. We'll see where we stand in a year!!!

| PATCH HISTORY |=================
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
I've been meaning to implement this for a while. For now, there may be slight
errors to this section and it is also likely incomplete. Note that Capcom
opted to do a patch number as well as an internal patch number. Therefore,
patch 1.06 had an internal number of 1.08. I may have mistakes on this, but
it'll do for now.

| STREET FIGHTER V |============
| ARCADE EDITION |=================
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Announced October 5th of 2017, SFV: Arcade Edition will be the major 3.0 patch
of SFV and will include a bevy of new content.
MOST IMPORTANTLY
If you own the base game of SFV, then this patch will be a FREE UPDATE and
you do NOT need to purchase AE.
AE will be issued as a new retail package as well as digitally on both the PS4
and Steam. Buyers of AE will receive all Season 1 and Season 2 characters.
Those who own SFV and upgrade via the patch DO NOT receive extra characters.
Only buyers of the $40 standalone SFV: AE will.
Several retailers are offering bonus costumes for pre-ordering the physical
version of AE. Just like the characters, current owners of the game will not
magically receive these.
However, for people who purchase the Season 3 Season Pass before the end of
January 2018, the same pre-order bonuses are included.
Most single-player methods of earning FM will be changed upon AE's release.
Translation: Do those modes now!
Arcade Edition will feature the following changes/additions:
* V-Trigger II Each character will have a choice of two V-Triggers
* Arcade Mode The long-requested arcade mode arrives
* Team Battle Local-only team mode supporting up to 5-vs-5.
* Extra Battle One of the promoted features cut from the final version.
* UI Overhaul Changes to menus,
* Gallery Over 200 pieces of images, movies & sounds
Arcade Mode
This mode will have six different paths matching the six main entries into
the SF series: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Zero/Alpha.
Gallery entries are unlocked via arcade mode.
Extra Battle
This will have different NPCs from the SF universe and will offer FM.
In addition, exclusive costumes can be earned via wagering FM. This mode
will feature timed challenges and likely weekly goals.
More information will come and additional features have yet to be announced.

| SF HISTORY |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
The importance of Street Fighter to the arcade scene, the fighting genre and to
gaming as a whole cannot be understated. It is credited for both essentially
creating the fighting game genre (SFII in 1991) and rejuvenating it (SFIV in
2008). Whether these statements are overly-dramatic or not, Capcom's flagship
fighter is legendary.
Street Fighter V is a huge game, both in its depth and its importance. It aims
to keep the series on the map and endeavors to be a long-lasting staple in the
fighting and competitive fighting community much as its predecessors have.
Omitting a LOT, here are the main titles.
1987 Street Fighter
1991 Street Fighter II
1997 Street Fighter III
2008 Street Fighter IV
2016 Street Fighter V
And here is the general, convoluted chronology of the SF world
* Street Fighter
* Street Fighter Zero/Alpha
* Street Fighter II
* Street Fighter IV
* Street Fighter V
* Street Fighter III
Judging by this timeline, it explains why Vega (Dictator) and Dhalsim look older
than they have in the past and Alex is younger than his SF3 self. As inane as
it may seem
1 -> Zero -> 2 -> 4 -> 5 -> 3
That's almost Metal Gear Solid type stuff!
The expanded Story Mode launched on July 1st and features a lengthy tale of
Vega's efforts for world domination, as expected. Its finale tied in with the
beginning of SFIII and was a fun, actual story.

| PERSONAL HISTORY |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
At the time of writing this, I am 40 and began my own Street Fighter journey
at the Chinese restaurant across the highway at age 12. I got in trouble for
going there when I wasn't allowed to, but they had the original Street Fighter
arcade cabinet and I just wanted to try to beat Lee (I couldn't). After a
friend purchased Fighting Street, I recall seeing SFII in the arcade at the
mall. There was a horde of people surrounding a machine and a monitor was set
up above for others to watch. I saw Ryu's standing animaton and was in awe of
the detail. The true passion had begun.
While my skills never really got better (I had a good run for a while at CE
using Chun-Li), I've always loved the series. I've followed it through all
iterations on all platforms, I imported titles, made guides ran web sites and
collected books. I have vivid memories of III, EX+Alpha, the Marvel Vs. games,
and the heyday of the late '90s arcades. After the dark years (Capcom Fighting
Jam anyone?), the eventual excitement of SFIV's announcement and renaissance
of SF's coolness was a remarkable thing to witness.
Street Fighter V is an exciting title and I hope I can help others with a
useful FAQ or two. This is my biggest SF guide yet and while it'll never have
frame data or enough info for you true die-hards out there, it'll do the trick!
Check out the quick move-list guide at the bottom if you don't want all the
narration.
Visit my SF artwork site if you're interested and if you encounter any errors
or omissions in this document, please let me know.
Thanks & Enjoy!

| STORY MODE |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Patch Version: 01.14
-------------
There are TWO story modes in SFV.
=--=--=--=--=
General Story
=--=--=--=--=
"A Shadow Falls" is the long-gestating story mode for SFV. It differs from
each character's story (see below) and is a several-hour long campaign in
which you swap characters as the story unfolds.
=--=--=--=--=--
Character Story
=--=--=--=--=--
Each character has his/her own storyline and you can follow their tale and
purpose through Story Mode here. You will receive Fight Money, Experience
and trophies/achievements based on your progress here. See the Story Mode
Unlockables section just below as well as the sections pertaining to Fight
Money and Character Levelling to learn about those.
Other Items in Story Mode
-------------------------
=--=--=-
Tutorial
=--=--=-
This is simply the tutorial from the beginning of the game. If you had any
desire to go back and replay this, you could. I suspect most will not.
=--=--=--=--=--=
Costume Settings
=--=--=--=--=--=
Here you can change your costume for Story Mode only.
Each character has a standard costume and a Story Mode costume. The latter
can only be used in Story Mode for now (March's update will bring purchasable
outfits, see section 4b below for more).
=--=--=--=--=--=--=-
Story Voice Settings
=--=--=--=--=--=--=-
Here you can change the voice of your character for Story Mode only.
You can choose between English or Japanese (other languages in other regions
differ, obviously).

| STORY MODE UNLOCKABLES |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
IMPORTANT NOTE:
--------------
Ensure you are online when doing this. If you don't, you might not unlock
trophies and you will not receive the Fight Money you earned (Experience may
count). Completing one of these offline means you'll likely have to do it all
over again for the FM.
There are two story modes. The full one, A Shadow Falls, last several hours
and will give 30,000 FM the first time through. You can then play again at a
higher difficulty for another 50,000 FM. You will not receive more FM for
subsequent playthroughs.
The normal Story Mode is a very brief and outrageously-simple single-player
mode that will yield Experience, Fight Money and the ability to change your
costume settings (in Story Mode only). Certain characters have two fights
(three animated sequences) while others have three (four sequences). Each
will result in the same total Experience gained.

**If you are playing this before leveling up your character, you will reach
level 8 with that character, thus also adding an additional 8,000 FM (1,000 per
level, more in section section 4c) That's an easy 10,000 FM right there! For
each character!

| VERSUS MODE |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
While a long-time staple of fighting games, the local Versus Mode has taken a
backseat to online play. In Street Fighter V, the Versus Mode is a bare-bones,
utterly stripped down option.
The September 2016 update gave players a VS CPU option, a welcome addition for
some gamers!
Not much else to mention here!

Suggestions
===========
The first few matches are key to building up your score so you have points
for later battles when the difficulty spikes. I recommend using Double
Down in these first matches. The CPU is often very easy, you can get some
serious point boosts and worst case, you botch a round and you've only
wasted a few Survival matches. DD4 comes with no major risk.
While jumping right into Health Recovery seems the best idea you might want
to consider grabbing Defense Up instead. A 60% boost in defense is HUGE,
and it's far more useful (for the same cost) than 20% more health.
The same goes for Attack Power Up. This is a 45% increase which also
includes Stun which goes a long way for a mere 5,000.
Vesper points out in his excellent guide that the CPU is not a human being.
This means it will not learn from your patterns. It's good to know as
finding an safe, easy and effective maneuver can be key to success,
particularly on higher difficulties. Ken's MP Shoryuken has proven to be
helpful as is Cammy's Axel Spin Knuckle. Each is invincible for a few frames
and can be abused vs. the CPU. His video can be found here:

| SURVIVAL UNLOCKABLES |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Causing ire amongst many SF fans, additional character colors were initially
locked locked behind Survival Mode and its very long and unrewarding gameplay
model. These have been updated to be available for purchase. More in section
7c below!
Let's get to it. People hate this mode as unlocking colors can be incredibly
challenging. Win 29 matches and lose on #30 and you gain absolutely nothing.
Unlocks go as follows:
Difficulty Fights Color Exp Fight Money Titles
---------- ------- ----- --- ----------- -----
Easy 10 3 5,000 2,000 no
Normal 30 4, 5, 6 10,000 5,000 no

Extreme 100 n/a 40,000 20,000 yes
----------------------------
Important & Noteworthy Stuff:
----------------------------
As of September 2016, color packs are available for purchase using FM or cash
See section 7c below for more.
You will *NEED* to be online in order to receive Fight Money for this mode.
If you don't, you'll receive the other perks, but will have to play it
again to get the fight money.
You will receive colors ONLY for the outfit you're using. If you want color
#10 for Ryu's normal outfit, his story mode outfit and a premium costume,
you'll need to be survival Hard (50 enemies) THREE TIMES TOTAL. Just for
one character.
If you've completed Story Mode, you may unlock a new title upon completing
Survival (on any difficulty). This is due to reaching level 10, and not
for completing Survival.
You only receive experience and FM the first time you complete Survival for
each character
Extreme difficulty used to be called Hell. Completing this will unlock the
title [Veteran Among Veterans]. More on titles in section 3d below.

| Section 2d: |===
| CHALLENGES |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
The Challenge Mode features two modes. Trials and Demonstration. The latter
consists of video tutorials breaking down many of the game's system mechanics.
Starting with the May 2017 update, both trials and demonstrations are broken
down into Season 1 and Season 2 (titled Volume 1 and Volume 2).
This section may be broken into Challenges, Tutorials and Trials. A
preliminary list is as follows:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Demonstrations
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You will receive 1,000 FM for viewing each set of Demonstrations.
You will receive 500 FM and 1,000 EXP for viewing each character's Guide.
That's an easy 1,500 FM and if you level up any characters in the process,
that total increases.
=-=-=-
Trials
=-=-=-
Combo trials for all characters. There are only 10 trials per character so
the difficulty ramps up. I may write up about each character's trials soon but
you can view a demonstration of each if you need assistance with the timing.
You will earn 5,000 EXP and 1,000 FM for completing ALL of each character's
trials. Complete 9 out of 10 and you will gain nothing.
=-=-=-=-=-
Challenges
=-=-=-=-=-
This area houses weekly challenges which will earn you FM. Each week seems to
have four different challenges. Two are always online-only, such as Perform
10 Crush Counters or Use Your V-Trigger 10 times in Ranked, Casual or Battle
Lounge matches.
There is usually another which asks you to check the CFN for replays or to
perform a rival search. These vary and aren't worth much.
The final one often awards the most FM (5,000 typically) and is vaguely
described. However these seem to rotate so they return every month or two. For
any requiring knockdowns, you can play these in Versus mode and set the round
to best-of-5 to give yourself extra time if need be. Here are some
descriptions if you needed guidance.
Blunder Bus (Bustling Side Street)
Get the end-level KO animation on the right side of the stage.
Datta's Wish (Apprentice Alley)
Using Dhalsim (Datta's father, BTW), win the match.
Funny Guy (Union Station)
Perform several heavy knockdowns on the left portion of the stage to make
the janitor fall over in laughter.
It's Only Missile Disarmament (Shadaloo Base stage)
Perform several heavy knockdowns on the right side of the stage to launch
missiles upward.
No Work And All Play (City In Chaos)
Perform several heavy knockdowns in front of the fire hydrant on the right
portion of the stage.
Remember That Dress
Go into Ken's story and watch the epilogue. Simple!
Respectful Spectating (Underground Arena)
Entertain the bear in the background by doing hard knockdowns.
Safety Measures (Bustling Side Street)
Break the five neon signs that hang above you, then win the match.
Sakura's Urgent Errand
Go into Karin's Character Story and play the epilogue. Easy.
Shibasaki's First Request
This is in Dhalsim's second story mission vs. R. Mika. Beat her.
A Short-Tailed Bat Colony (Forgotten Waterfall)
Perform several heavy knockdowns on the right-hand side of the stage to
arouse bats to fly from the right.
Sleeping Dog (Apprentice Alley)
Wake up the dog in the background of this level by performing, you guessed
it, heavy knockdowns near him.
Special Move Sensation (Kanzuki Estate)
Perform several heavy knockdowns (doesn't have to be special moves) to make
ninjas climb react. There are ninjas on either side of the stage hanging
from the rooftops.
We Salute Thee, Four Kings (Shadaloo Base)
Choose any of the four bosses (F.A.N.G., Balrog, Vega or M. Bison) and
simply win a match on this stage.
You Toucan Be Friends (Hillside Plaza)
There's a large toucan on the right portion of this stage. A handful of
heavy knockdowns will inspire the bird to collect some fruit.

| FIGHTER PROFILE |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Upon booting up SFV, you are asked to create a Fighter Profile and this profile
will collect all the data on all your fighters. You will level up by earning
experience and will collect Fight Money and earn League Points
Your Fighter Profile contains information information on ALL your fighters, not
just your favorite character set in the Battle Settings menu. Experience
stacks, so by raising two characters to level 8, your fighter profile will now
be level 16. Do not confuse your Fighter Profile with your Character Levelling.
-------------------------------------
Fighter Profile Trophies/Achievements
-------------------------------------
There are a few levelling trophies for your fighter profile. Completing this
process solely online is a very time-consuming task.
Completing Story Mode and Survival Mode (Easy) will raise you to
level 12. Doing this for 16 characters will raise you to level 192.
Method Title Trophy Type

Raise Profile to Level 50 Vindicated Honor Bronze
Raise Profile to Level 100 Burning Spirit Silver

(This is for each individual fighter, not your Fighter Profile)
By gaining experience, you will level up your character. This level has no
bearing on your character's skill or power. It is merely to keep track of your
usage and dedication!
There is a pair of trophies/achievements for raising your character's levels
detailed below.

| LEAGUE POINTS |================
| & RANK | ===================
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
When playing Ranked Matches, you will earn or lose League Points (LP) based on
the result of your match. A win earns more than a loss loses, so even losing
more matches than you win will still allow you to rise the ranks. Increasing
the total number of LP will rise you in the ranks. The following chart shows
the league names and their LP range. In addition it includes the amount of
EXP gained for each fight. As DemonizBoris explains: "Exp earned is related
to the league of your opponent. Winning one match will give you 1x exp,
losing will give you 0.25x exp, if draw game then 0.5x, cut the decimal part."
--EXP GAINED--
League Name LP Range Win Loss
---------- -------- --- ----
Rookie 000 - 499 100 25
Bronze 500 - 999 125 31
Super Bronze 1,000 - 1,400 150 37
Ultra Bronze 1,500 - 1,999 175 43
Silver 2,000 - 2,999 200 50
Super Silver 3,000 - 3,000 250 62
Ultra Silver 3,500 - 3,999 300 75
Gold 4,000 - 5,499 350 87
Super Gold 5,500 - 6,499 400 100

Earning/Losing LP
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
The math behind these LP gains and losses is entirely imperfect, but here's a
roundabout formula. Sometimes you'll gain 65, others 67 or 68, but this works
within reason. It does not calculate for a win/loss against people more than
one level above or below you. This is likely very different at higher levels
(i.e. ones I won't ever reach!0
A Bronze beating a Rookie earns earns more (55) than a Super Bronze beating a
Bronze (35).
A Bronze losing to a Rookie (-35) isn't as bad as a Super Bronze losing to a
Bronze (-66). I don't know how this all works.
Result Lower Same Above
------ ----- ---- -----
Win +55/35 +65 +66
Loss -35/66 -25 -25
This is a woefully-incomplete set of math from a lowly Bronze player. It's
likely incorrect, especially at upper levels.

| TITLES LIST |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Titles are earned by leveling up your character and by playing and/or winning
matches online. You can set your Title in Battle Settings and this reflects
your skill level as the harder-to-reach titles are far more scarce than the
lower ones. The huge March update added a number of specific titles for
purchase. Scroll down a while for those.
This list was the result of a lot of hard work and keeping track of fighter
profiles. In July 2016, rrkappasvoice posted a complete gallery of these
titles both verifying and fixing the research I had done. You can find them:

Purchasable Titles

With the March Store update, more than 100 titles were made available for
purchase for 5,000 FM each.
Every 10 profile levels will unlock two new titles for each fighter. Since
all of my original characters were that level when the March 2016 update hit, I
don't have full details on who is assigned to which titles in many cases.
Therefore, two things:
** If you cannot access one of these, it's likely due to that title not yet
being unlocked.
** I'm certainly missing dozens of these. Feel free to submit some but this
section of the site is not quite so important IMO.

To competitive fighting games, the online experience is tantamount to success.
Street Fighter V is entirely an online experience, as even earning rewards in

Patch Version: 01.14
-------------
March 2016's update brought the first influx of store items to SFV and July's
patch changed everything by removing Zenny and including a bevvy of new
content. As of this writing, the following items are purchasable via in-game
Fight Money or using real-world cash. Any references to Zenny are no longer
viable as Capcom had troubles implementing the system properly. Fine by me!
Season Pass (season 1)
Character Pass (season 2)
--------------
These unlocked all six DLC Fighters + one premium outfit each.
This was later patched to unlock colors 3-10 for standard and premium
costumes.
It also gave Guile's background stage for free in the April 2016 update.
Characters
----------
DLC characters are listed below and are available for the following prices.
If you are a season-pass holder you get these for 'free' of course.
Each DLC Fighter 100,000 FM $6 USD (international prices?)
Season One (2016)
----------
March Update: Alex
April Update: Guile
June Update: Ibuki & M. Bison (Boxer)
July Update: Juri
September Update: Urien
Season Two (2017)
----------
December Update: Gouki
February Update: Kolin
May Update: Ed
July Update: Abigail
August Update: Menat
October Update: Zeku
* Due to issues with opening the online store, Alex & Guile were available
free to all gamers until the July 2016 update. Then they reverted to the
prices listed above.
Alternate Costumes
------------------
Here you can purchase Story Mode Costumes as well as Premium Costumes for
all fighters. The cost for these costumes is as follows:
Story Mode Costumes 40,000 FM $2 USD Each
Premium Costumes n/a $4 USD Each
Premium CPT Costumes n/a $6 USD Each
For all additional information, see section 7d below.
Colors
------
Packs for colors 3-10 are available for purchase with FM or cash. Colors
11-15 are available for purchase and are level dependent (each fighter
must be a certain level for this color to be available for purchase.)
All information and details are listed below in section 7c.
Color packs were finally made available in early 2017. These include colors
3-10 for different groups.
Original Default Colors 85,000 FM $5 USD
Original Story Colors 85,000 FM $5 USD
DLC Characters Default Colors 40,000 FM $2 USD
DLC Characters Story Colors 40,000 FM $2 USD
Those who purchased the Season Pass for either season get the DLC Characters
Default Color packs for free.
Stages
------
New background stages and alternate background stages (listed with a *) are
available.
Ring Of Destiny n/a n/a (2016 CTP DLC only)
Ring Of Pride n/a $10 USD (or with CPT DLC)
Air Force Base 70,000 FM $4 USD (Free w/ Season Pass)

*Mysterious Cove 40,000 FM $2 USD
See the 'Special' section below for CPT DLC info.
See section 5 below for a full stage list.
Titles
------
Almost 100 new titles were added in the store's first update, all costing
5,000 FM. These come in different varieties with a bevy of styles and
comments. These are listed in section 3d above.
Note that some of the purchasable titles require you to level characters up
first. I know at least that two non-character-specific titles are unlocked
at level 10. I suspect more come at higher levels as well.
Two additional titles were made available with the CPT DLC (see below)
Profile Designs
---------------
If you want to spice up your Fighter Profile, colors 4-9 are purchasable as
are individual character theme profiles for all fighters. Each costs 5,000
FM and are unlocked upon completing each character's story mode.
BGM
---------------
Patch version 1.13 added the ability to purchase background music and assign
it to various modes. Three packs are available: two for FM and one just for
cash.
BGM Pack FM Cost $$$ Cost (in USD)
-------- ------- -----------------
General Story Mode Pack 1 90,000FM $6
General Story Mode Pack 2 97,500BM $6.50
Street Fighter II n/a $4.50
The story packs utilize the music from the story mode but are split up into
two because...well, why not charge almost 200,000 FM for music that's already
in the game?
Special
-------
This houses Season/Character Pass options and other packages.
In both 2016 and 2017, Capcom made available the Capcom Pro Tour (CPT)
DLC packages. Each was available for $25 for a limited time and featured
an exclusive stage, costumes, colors and titles. The 2016 CPT package
was made available again in the autumn of 2017. Then, both years
were pulled on the 29th of November, 2017.
Each year, a minimum of 30% of the revenue from this DLC went back to
the Capcom Cup competition and an additional 50% went to CPT production.
Their contents could be purchased individually in some cases, in other
cases not. Let's break it down.
Season Type Name Individually Costs?

| FIGHT MONEY & |============
| CASH |==================
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Since Street Fighter V employs a different model for unlocking and purchasing
premium content, let's get to this right out.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
How To Earn Fight Money:
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Fight Money (FM) is earned throughout the game. You can earn this by winning
matches online for meager advances. However here is the real meaty way to earn
FM. You can earn this FM for each character with the exception of the General
Story Mode which can only be completed once for FM.
View Each Character's Guide 500 FM
View Each Set Of Demonstrations 1,000 FM
Complete Each Character's Trials 1,000 FM (volume 1 and 2)
Raise a Character's Level 1,000 FM
Complete Story Mode 2,000 FM
Complete Survival Easy 2,000 FM
Complete Survival Normal 5,000 FM
Complete Survival Hard 10,000 FM
Complete Survival Extreme 20,000 FM
Complete General Story Mode 30,000 FM (1x only)
Complete General Story Mode (Extra) 50,000 FM (1x only)
As detailed elsewhere here, you can earn earn 4,000 FM for beating Story Mode
and Survival Easy as well as level up 12x in the process. That'll net you
16,000 FM for each character.
Better gamers can continue on with Survival Normal for an additional 5,000 FM
each, but that's a harder challenge for some.
By beating Story Mode & Survival Easy for all 16 base characters (not a
difficult task) you will net 256,000 FM which is a good starting point for
purchasing new characters, outfits or stages. More on those specifics below.
Now that season 2 is complete and with Arcade Edition coming, new players will
have access to 28 characters. At 16K FM each, that's 448,000FM that is
incredibly simple to collect.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
What Was Zenny?
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Zenny was Capcom's original vision for purchasing premium DLC content. It was
however abandoned in the July update. So...let's just forget about it entirely
shall we?
Instead you can use actual cash to purchase items as detailed above.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
What To Buy With FM & Cash

This mode is almost identical to the aforementioned Rank Match but here you
won't receive LP. It's great for testing out new characters and for those who
get stressed out by their LP numbers decreasing with each subsequent loss (oh,
maybe that's just me!)

| STAGE |============
| TRANSITIONS |==================
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
In the September 2016 update, all 10 base levels were given transitions,
humorous animations spurned if you defeat your opponent by the edge with a hard
attack.
There is a different animation by finishing a fighter on the left or the right
side. However, in several cases, you will break a wall and be permitted to
fight in this new area for the next round. In that case, there will be two
descriptions listed.
In other instances, something will fall on your opponent's head, like fruit.
These items will remain on the fighter's head as the next round begins. They
will fall off after you are hit or after hitting your opponent a certain number
of times. These cases are represented by (*) in this guide.
Abigail is too large to trigger these animations it seems!
Here is a list of those animations.
Apprentice Alley
L: Flies into wall into a contorted form like yoga master.
R: Thrown into elephant's trunk. Tossed to another and again off screen
Bustling Side Street
L: [New Area] Breaks through wall into restaurant.
Thrown into restaurant wall, noodles fall on head (*).
R: Crash onto bus, doors close and bus drives away.
City In Chaos
L: Breaks through hot dog sign. Large hot dog falls on head.
R: [New Area] Busts through window into bank while robbery is going on.
Knocked into bank safe which closes and locks.
Forgotten Waterfall (Daytime Only)
L: Slides into a log. Birds look on.
R: Smash into a coffin, cover closes
Hillide Plaza
L: Fighter flies down tunnel. Dancers run in to inspect.
R: Falls into fruit stand. Bananas fall on head (*).
Kanzuki Beach
Any: Driven into sand.
Kanzuki Estate (Daytime Only?)
L: Breaks away into armory. Samurai helmet falls on head (*).
R: Rolls into cannon, shot into sky.
Lair Of The Four Kings
L: Driven into monitor which displays your information.
R: Thrown into hand of Vega (D).
Shadaloo Base (Daytime Only?)
L: Hit into a chair which launches into the air.
R: Flies into fan which electrocutes you and then explodes
Underground Areana
L: Smashes into the bar, a Russian nesting doll falls on head. (*)
R: Through door and roll into a snowman. Snowman's head lands on yours (*).
Union Station

| SYSTEM MECHANICS |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Hopefully you know some basics about SF and its systems. Three punches, three
kicks. Simple, right? While much of SF can be figured out via trial-and-error
there are some tweaks in SFV and somethings are just plain not explained
whatsoever.
Let's start with the big catch phrase of Street Fighter V.
=-=-=-=-=-=-
The V-System
=-=-=-=-=-=-
V-Gauge
-------
The red gauge at the bottom of the screen fills up by receiving damage and
by using your character's V-Skill (read below). Some characters have two
red blocks in their V-Gauge, a handful of others have three.
Using V-Triggers or V-Reversals depletes this gauge.
V-Skills MP + MK
-------- -------
Each character has at least one V-Skill which can be used an infinite number
of times. Each character's V-Skill is different but all help build the
V-Gauge by successful usage of the skill. Some characters have attacks as
their V-Skills. Others are defensive maneuvers. You'll have to practice
to discover when to use them. Details on each characters V-Skills are
listed below.
V-Triggers HP + HK
---------- -------
Each character has at least one V-Trigger which gives the fighter specific
actions. V-Triggers power up certain characters, thus causing added hits
and damage or speeds up those attacks. For other fighters it opens up
different moves and characteristics. Utilizing your V-Trigger costs the
entire V-Gauge.
Zangief, for instance, has a one-time attack. His V-Gauge will be reduced
to zero and he will begin charging his V-Gauge again.
Ken's V-Trigger bestows upon him magical fire properties. His V-Gauge will
continuously empty. Cammy's V-Trigger works the same, but with each move
that benefits from her V-Trigger, the gauge depletes faster.
V-Reversals F + 3K (While Blocking)
or F + 3P (While Blocking)
----------- ------
When an enemy's attack hits and you are blocking, you can counter by pushing
forward and 3P or 3K (character specific). Once again, each character's
V-Reversal is different but all cost one block of V-Gauge. Most are attacks
but some are evasive maneuvers. None cause a lot of damage (and it is Grey
Damage (see below)), but they can help change the tide if you're being
cornered.

Other SFV Mechanics
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Armor
-----</pre><pre id="faqspan-3">
Several character moves have Armor qualities which will not damage even
when hit. Instead, grey damage is offered (see below). Zangief can charge
his standing HP. While doing so, if he gets hit, he will not go into his
recovery animation or lose any energy.
EX Moves Motion + 2P or 2K
-------- -----------------
More powerful versions of special moves are detailed in the movelist below
by an EX before their description. Most special moves in SFV have EX
counterparts which hit for added damage, extra hits or can be performed more
quickly. Each EX move costs one V-Gauge block.
Critical Arts Character Specific
------------- ------------------
Replacing Super Moves from prior games, CAs require a full meter (3 EX
blocks) and are flashy, high-damage combos. Each character's moves are
unique to each fighter.
Throws & Escapes LP + LK
---------------- -------
LP and LK together will make your fighter perform a throw when close. All
characters have at least two throws, some have more.
Defensively, if you are about to be thrown, you can perform the same button
combination to escape being thrown.
Neutral Recovery D or 2P
---------------- -------
One of two types of recovery. When knocked down, you can press down as you
hit the ground to recover quickly. Neutral recovery means you will get up
where you fell.
Back Recovery B or 2K
------------- -------
The same as above except by pressing B or two kicks upon hitting the ground,
your character will roll back a bit before getting up.
Chip Damage
-----------
You will still receive damage when blocking certain attacks. Special moves
and Critical Arts will still hurt, but not nearly as much as if you got hit.
This is called Chip Damage (or Block Damage).
Blocking a medium or heavy attack will leave Grey Damage (recoverable, see
below) while light punches or kicks won't do any damage at all.
Historically, chip damage could kill you but in SFV only Critical Arts can
defeat a blocking opponent. This means you actually have to land a full
hit to beat another fighter.
Grey Damage
-----------
While any normal hit will deal Red Damage and eat away at your enemy's life
bar, an opponent who blocks won't receive any permanent damage from standard
moves. Medium and heavy attacks however, when blocked, will cause
recoverable damage. This is Grey Damage and will slowly regenerate as long
as you don't get hit. Getting hit will cause that Grey Damage to become
permanent.
Blocking super moves or critical arts do permanent damage.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Universal SFV Mechanics
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
Cross-Up
--------
A jumping move that lands you on the opposite side of your opponent thereby
mixing up their block direction. A well-timed cross-up should hit the
opposite side of your enemy who will now have to block the opposite
direction.
Anti-Air
--------
A safe move to counter an enemy's jumping attack or cross-up. Many
beginners are very jump friendly and novices can be punished by a simple,
low-risk anti-air move.

| CHARACTER LIST |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
The initial roster of 16 World Warriors feature a very diverse cast both in
fighting style and overall appearance. Six more DLC characters were released
throughout 2016 and a second season of DLC is almost guaranteed.
The diversity in cast was a conscious decision at Capcom. Eschewing characters
like Sagat and Gouki (Akuma) may have proven unpopular amongst SF fans, but
each's moveset similarity is the cause. We may see them down the line
particularly if you recall Street Fighter IV's original cast of a mere 16
fighters was eventually nearly tripled, ending at 44 in Ultra Street Fighter IV.

| COLOR UNLOCKABLES |============
.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
There are 17 total colors for all characters. Two are unlocked at the outset.
The remaining ones come from defeating Survival Mode on different difficulty
levels or by purchasing them from the shop.
Note the for colors 12-15 you need to be at a certain character level in order
for the colors to be available in the shop. These are indicated in parentheses
below.

Default Costumes Story Costumes
Original Characters 85,000 FM / $5 85,000 FM / $5
DLC Characters 40,000 FM / $2 40,000 FM / $2
Colors 3-10 Notes
-----------------
These are unlocked by completing Surival Mode on different difficulties. In
September's update, these colors were made available for purchase with FM or
cash. These are available as complete bundles. For 85,000 FM (or $4.99),
you can unlock colors 3-10 for ALL 16 original fighters. There is a separate
purchase for default costumes or story mode costumes. 85k/$5 for each set.
The same goes for DLC characters. 40,000 FM (or $1.99) will give you the
choice of default costume colors 3-10. Separately you can purchase story
mode costumes for the same price. This will unlock all eight colors for all
six DLC characters.
If, by chance, you purchased the Season Pass, the September update unlocked
colors 3-10 for each DLC character's default costume AND his/her premium
costume. You do not need to complete Survival Mode or purchase these colors.
If you do not want to shell out the cash/FM, note that you only unlock colors
for the costume you are using. If you use a story mode costume to beat
Survival Mode, you have to go back and beat the mode again to get the extra
colors for the standard outfit. (Such nonsense)
EX Colors Packs:
---------------
The EX1 color pack was available for Japanese customers only. One special
"Director's Edition" color was available for special edition packages. See
the link below for more. It seems possible that these will be available for
all gamers in a future game update. That is speculation at best.
EX2 & EX3 colors were made available as part of the CPT DLC only. These sets
of colors are for your default costume only. The CPT 2016 DLC is no longer
available. The 2017 package will be available until the end fo 2017, likely.

must complete Story Mode for that character first.
* Premium Costumes are available for $4 USD. They are not available for
purchase with FM. The only exception was for pre-order and promotional
incentives wherein Cammy, Chun-Li, Ryu and Vega (D) had their available
Battle Costumes as bonuses. These included American pre-order outlets,
a UK Red Bull promo and special editions of the game in Japan. (Cammy
and Vega came with the Valuable Edition, Ryu, Cammy, and Chun-Li for
the Hot Package, all four for the Volcanic Edition.)
* For Season Pass holders, all DLC characters come with their Battle Outfits
already unlocked.
* As a thank you for the patience of gamers through the troubled launch of
the game, players got Ryu's and Chun-Li's story mode costumes for free.
This offer was only available until the July 2016 update hit.
* The Halloween 2016 costumes returned in autumn of 2017 and can be purchased
as part of a bundle (which also includes the Spooky Arena stage as well.)
* The September 2017 update brought extra Chun-Li and Cammy costumes that
don't fit in any category. Thus the Etc rows above.
For more information about Fight Money, and how to purchase all this
stuff, see sections 4b and 4c above.

Some of the premium costumes have extras such as scarves and shirts that can be
removed by using a quick code. By holding the following buttons down as the

these before each round. (Or, you can re-enable these items between rounds
by using the same code. Can anyone verify?)

V-Skill
-------
Hugabee High/Low (V-Skill)
Another parry v-skill. This will make Abigail push out his chest and will
knock back your opponent and stun them. This cannot parry supers.
Max Power (V-Trigger)
This will make Abigail turn red and allows him to charge his HP attacks by
holding the HP button down. A fully-charged attack that is blocked will
result in a guard crush. Abigail also has one hit of armor while charging.
These fully-charged attacks allow for follow-up attack.
Ontario Drop (V-Reversal)
A drop kick that does reasonable damage.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Abi Blaster
When in v-trigger, you can charge this move to reflect fireballs.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Abigail Punch
This move will lead into several hits upon contact and you can tap punch to
add a few extra hits and damage.
Giant Flip
The LP version will merely smash the ground while the MP and HP version will
cause Abigail to flip. You can keep tapping punch after doing the EX version
to keep smashing the ground.
Abigail Smash
There's very little range on his command grab, but this does substantial
damage, particularly with Max Power activated. You will bounce your enemy
off the wall if done with the EX version, allowing for follow-up attacks.
Nitro Charge
Done by holding two kicks down (three for the EX), this leads into several
different follow-up attacks. Abigail will run ahead and this can be followed
up with a regular punch, a flip by pressing K, LP + LK for a grab or his
v-skill for a parry.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Abigail Special
His huge size gives this decent range as he unleashes a flurry of punches on
the opponent. With Max Power active, this does extra damage.

Capcom made a conscious decision to make Balrog a more accessible player by
changing him from a charge character to a motion one. He retains almost
everything he used to have and bounces across the screen as he historically
has. Balrog is the fastest character in the game.
The other main change is his Switch Claw, a quick quarter circle motion will
cause Balrog to put on/take off his claw. Without it, several moves have
faster startup and recovery and damage changes slightly with or without his
claw.

-------
V-Skill
-------
Matador Turn (V-Skill)
Balrog will evade an enemy attack. By tapping MP + MK he will merely dodge
the attack but if held, he will do so and then attack with a punch.
Bloody Kiss (V-Triggers)
There are three of these. Balrog throws a rose at his opponent from various
locations. If they hit, he will attack with a follow up dealing reasonable
damage.
Torero (Bullfighter) is thrown straight across the screen and can hit at
any range.
Azul (Blue) is done in the air and flies across the screen. Do not perform
this when close to your enemy.
Rojo (Red) is done on the ground and should be done when close to your enemy.
This will whiff from any larger distance.
Backslash (V-Reversal)
These allow you to backdash away from your enemy, one is closer (3 kicks)
than the other. Unlike most other characters, Balrog's V-Reversal won't hit
your opponent.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Mercury Shard
A short hopping overhead attack.
Buster Claw
This can only be done with the claw on, this has good range and if performed
too far away, a whiff might not leave you open to punishment.
Matador Flash / Matador Blitz
Both are three-hit combos with slightly different button presses. One is
used with Balrog's claw, the other not and each requires you to hold MP + MK
in order to get the third hit. Both do decent damage too!
Wall Jump
Adding to Balrog's great mobility is the ability to leap off of walls like
he always has. Just press up and forward when at the edge of the screen.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Switch Claw
You can choose to remove Balrog's claw in SFV thereby allowing you to have
faster attacks at the expense of less damage in some instances. Changing
stances creates a more complex Balrog. Good luck!
Aurora Spin Edge
This is a claw-only attack that hits low in its LP form, mid in MP and the
HP version should only be done on jumping opponents or tall characters. It
won't hit on average height characters. Each does the same damage. The
EX Aurora Spin Edge hits mid and is a two-hit maneuver.
Crimson Terror
The old charge move is now a quarter-circle motion. You will drop down and
roll towards your opponent before leaping up and hitting high. It's a good
mix up that can be done from afar, missing on the roll. This does equal
damage with or without the claw. Each higher kick hits once more with the
EX hitting five times. The HP and EX versions will hit from a full screen
away (missing the roll).
Flying Barcelona Attack
Balrog's versatility lies in his many aerial options. The FBA can be done
forward or backwards (the controls differ). The weight of the K button
pressed changes his height and angle. All punches do the same damage. When
done without his claw, this move does 1/3 less damage. The EX version hits
multiple times (with or without his claw) and is faster.
Izuna Drop
This is the same as the FBA but by pressing LP + LK when very close, you
will grab your opponent. The EX model is faster and flashier but doesn't
incur much more damage. It does offer 33% more stun though.
Grand Izuna Drop
Another claw-only move, this must be done when close. This grab does good
damage and excellent stun damage, particularly the EX version. Can't be
comboed into with regular attacks and has slow recovery.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Bloody Rain
This is deceptive as it begins looking a lot (though not identical to) his
other jumps. Like his other jump attacks, the direction of the motion
changes where he jumps (forward or backwards). The forward version has a
chance of hitting on the way up. Even if blocked, the rest of the CA will
still come out, however.

Notes
-----
Idle Time
By standing idle, Birdie will pick his nose and flick a booger at his
opponent for a meaty 10 damage. Ryu can parry this attack & gain V-Gauge.
--------
V-System
--------
Break Time (V-Skills)
Birdie has three items he can consume. The standard Break Time has him
eating a doughnut.
Banana Time and Drink time are self-explanatory consumables. Birdie will
throw each to the ground, the banana causing his enemy to fall and the can
rolling across the entire screen. Each will cause minimal (10) damage.
Enjoy Time (V-Trigger)
This long-lasting V-Trigger ups armor as well as adding extra hits, damage
and range for some specials. Bull Head gets all three perks, while other
specials just get added damage or hits & damage. His Critical Art gets a 20%
boost in damage.
Pepper Pot (V-Reversal)
Birdie will sneeze on his opponent for the equivalent damage of a MP.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Bull Drop
This hits twice at close ranges, you don't need to be super close either.
The second hit is an overhead.
Bull Charge
Birdie drops down and charges forward. A powerful attack with a slow start
but a quick execution afterwards.
Bull Slider
Your character will dive forward, face-first for a low hit.
Bad Hammer
This quick, two-hit combo is a powerful uppercut/downthrust attack. The
second punch won't come out on a whiff.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Bull Head
A charging headbutt, each different button strength has a longer range,
higher damage and slower startup. The EX version hits twice even if blocked
(opening up to counter hits) When coupled with his V-Trigger, this move
is excellent, offering armor (1 hit?) and rather substantial damage.
Bull Horn
By holding any P or K button, you can charge this up. There is only one
level of damage as Birdie turns and does a rising jump. This can be held
while other attacks are made and released at any point. Hold down two
buttons for an EX, two-hit version that can hit from half a screen away.
With Birdie's V-Trigger, a regular version hits twice and the EX version
four times, again for rather beefy damage.
Killing Head
Close only, this hits 2x/3x/4x/7x for each punch + EX, the latter really
dishing out the damage (quarter of a life bar, essentially).
Bull Revenger
Birdie's jumping chain attack can cover the whole screen with HP. The EX
version doesn't go quite so far, but his jump is higher and slower and can
be used to clear projectiles. Too close, however, and you'll just leap over
the enemy!
------------
Critical Art
------------
Probably the coolest CA in the game, Birdie lunges forward to grab his
opponent. This has limited range.

V-System
--------
Axel Spin Knuckle (V-Skill)
Her old HCB + P move is now an easy-to-use maneuver that will move Cammy to
the other side of her opponent when done at close range. It passes through
projectiles as well, making it a highly-useful tool for the Cammy fan.
Delta Drive (V-Trigger)
Added speed and damage and extra hits for her specials. Cammy's Critical
Art isn't affected. She loses EX versions of all specials except her Cannon
Spike.
Strike Back (V-Reversal)
Cammy crosses over to the other side of her opponent and does a flying kick.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Knee Bullet
This is a two-kick jump attack that can be used when in close to your enemy.
You can whiff on the first hit and still get the second
Lift Upper
A lightning-fast uppercut which is great for anti-airs.
Lift Combination
Connect with the Lift Upper and why not go straight into a HK for a solid
two-hit, reasonably-damaging quick combo?
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Spiral Arrow
Cammmy's iconic attack has three distances and speeds mapped to LK/MK/HK.
The HK will hit twice at close ranges. The EX Spiral Arrow is very fast and
will hit twice as well when close.
When coupled with her Delta Drive, the SA will hit up to five times for each
strength. She cannot EX while in her V-Trigger.
Cannon Spike
LK is slowest, shortest and Cammy jumps the lowest. HK will have her
pushing forward. The LK and MK versions are good for anti-airs, especially
the LK as it's nearly vertical. EX Cannon Spike will hit three times for
about 1/3 extra damage. With her V-Trigger, it'll hit five times for the
same damage as the EX version but it starts up somewhat faster.
Cannon Strike
This is an air move done during a forward jump. It cancels a forward jump
with a downward kick. Perform this too early and you can leave yourself
open to attack. The strength of the kick button determines the distance
of the Cannon Strike and the angle of your thrust. LK should be done closer
to your enemy.
The EX version is flashy and can knocks your opponent down. You can juggle
at this stage. The Delta Drive version will hit three times at a lower
angle and greater distance but not for much more damage.
Hooligan Combination
Initiating this causes Cammy to leap towards the other fighter. You can
go into the Lazer Edge Slicer by doing nothing at this point. Alternately,
you can press any kick to transition into the Cannon Strike or do LP + LK
either in the air or near the ground to change things up. These have to
be done close though.
The EX version moves faster and hits several times and for more damage. I
don't think this is affected by her V-Skill.
----------------
Critical Assault
----------------
Cross Stinger Assault
Classic high-flying Cammy kicks! This may be the only CA that is affected by
the strength of button. Just like her Cannon Strike, the LK version has a
very high angle and both it and the MK can whiff if you're far away. The HK
version seems to hit from just about anywhere.

--------
V-System
--------
Ranyaku (V-Skill)
Forward jump that hits close enemies on the way up. Chun-Li can attack on
the way down but does not build V meter doing so. Only gains meter when
hitting on the rise.
Renkiko (V-Trigger)
This will add an extra hit to all regular medium attacks and two hits to all
regular heavy attacks. All moves gain an extra 10 damage when in V-Trigger.
Specials do not gain extra hits, but do gain the added damage with the
exception of her Kikouken. This gains an additional 20 damage but only the
EX version (not regular). Throws and Chun-Li's Critical Art are not
affected by her Renkiko.
Ryuseiraku (V-Reversal)
Chun-Li counters with a two-handed attack.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Senenshu
My favorite move from the Zero/Alpha series, this is now an overhead attack
that is easily mistaken for a jump. Highly useful albeit not overly
powerful.
Kakurakukyaku
Chun's classic move now leaves her facing the opposite direction. When
in range, this will cross up and hit the enemy on the back side. From too
far away, however, you will whiff completely and be left open for attack.
Make sure you don't do this from too far.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Hyakuretsukyaku
Now is a QCF motion rather than just tapping the kick button. Chun-Li will
jump forward when performing this and the delay/distance is determined by
the weight of the kick. This can be performed in the air as well
Spinning Bird Kick
The stronger the kick, the farther the distance the SBK moves. The EX
version does not move forward at all; it is best used for anti-airs.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Hoyokusen
This can be cancelled into, and can deal good chip damage even upon being
blocked.

--------
V-System
--------
Yoga Float (V-Skill)
Dhalsim will float up and can perform all regular attacks as well as his
Yoga Fire. Any hit will build V-Gauge?
Yoga Burner (V-Trigger)
Dhalsim makes a layer of fire on the ground which will hit an enemy and
will slowly burn the enemy. This causes grey energy damage which can then
be re-gained over time.
Yoga Mala (V-Reversal)
You parry your enemy's attack and hit with a two-handed spinning punch.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Drill Kick
The LP Drill Kick travels the farthest while HP comes almost straight down.
All do the same amount of damage.
Yoga Anvil
A high, two-handed punch that can hit at very close ranges or against
jumping foes.
Yoga Upper
A quick upward jab and excellent anti-air.
Divine Kick
Another quick attack, this is a short kick to balance Dhalsim's usual long-
limbed moves.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Yoga Fire
Each of the three different punches travels at different speeds, much like
Dhalsim's Drill Kick. LP is a high arc, hitting close, and travelling at a
very slow speed. HP travels fastest, at the lowest arc and will travel
across the whole screen. They all do the same damage.
The EX version is Dhalsim's classic Yoga Fire and it hits twice.
Yoga Teleport
A dragon-punch motion moves Dhalsim forward and a reverse motion teleports
him backwards. He can perform these in the air as well.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Yoga Sunburst
Dhalsim inflates for a massive fireball which can hit close for an anti-air
or at any point during it's huge arc. This can be comboed into if it
doesn't hit immediately.

Poison Effects
Most of F.A.N.G.'s attacks have to do with emitting a noxious, purple cloud
that poison his enemies. These attacks slowly drain energy but the effect
can be cancelled by simply hitting F.A.N.G. once.
--------
V-System
--------
Nishodoku (V-Skill)
F.A.N.G. throws a slow-moving purple fireball that poisons your enemy. It
will travel across the entire stage but will not inflict any damage upon
hitting the other fighter. The poisoned effect does not last long and
doesn't drain too much energy.
Dokunomu (V-Trigger)
You will be enshrouded with a purple fog that may poison your enemy just by
being in close proximity or any attack that hits.
Nikaiho (V-Reversal)
F.A.N.G. moves to the other side of his opponent. This has little range.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Senpukuga
You will lie down by pressing D + 3P. F.A.N.G. will get up if no other
buttons are pressed. However, going into a K will attack for 2 kicks while
getting up.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Nishikyu
Your character will toss two purple poison balls. LP have a high arc landing
close to you. HP will traverse the whole screen. The EX version has one
tossed close, another farther and the balls will bounce.
Ryobenda
F.A.N.G. thrusts his arms into the ground leaving a purple cloud there.
Enemies walking into it, yup, get poisoned. The speed of the 'attack' and
the duration of the cloud depend on the strength of the kick entered. The
EX version is faster and has a longer duration.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Shishiruirui
You will fly up, dropping poisonous balls beneath you. This can hit upon
startup. Three balls will be dropped if you whiff. Up to six will be
dropped upon a completed hit.

Ken will rush in to his opponent. By holding down MP + MK, he will perform

Heat Rush (V-Trigger)

not his Critical Art. All of Ken's specials are performed more quickly
while using Heat Rush and moves can be canceled out of the Heat Rush
initiation.
Sunpu Nataotoshi (V-Reversal)
Ken parries the attack and performs a flaming jump kick.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Shoryuken
While Ken's HP Shoryuken is flame-filled, I avoid it like the plague due to
its slow qualities. In combos however, it's sublime. The LP version is
quick and can be used in so many instances, its invincibility, if timed
right, can pass through projectiles without leaving you too open for
punishment. My favorite is the MP however. It's got great reach,
reasonable recovery and does almost as much damage as the HP version. Ken's
EX however is two flaming Dragon Punches which easily confuse enemies. EX
moves flash orange, but amidst his flaming body, it's easy to miss.
Opponents who stop blocking after the first DP (thinking it a regular HP)
oftentimes get hit by the second wave.

forward, then the Volty Line. You must hold the two buttons down otherwise
she will just move and you won't build V-Gauge.

travels a greater distance.

Laura spins and performs a double-handed slap to her opponent.

-------------
Thunder Clap
This can be charged for more hits, greater damage and larger range. The EX

A throw, needs to be very close.
Bolt Charge
A thrusting elbow. Hits middle with LP, higher for MP and Laura jumps
with the HP version. That version will not hit a close opponent and should
be used for anti-airs. The EX version is ground-based.
This move can be combined with a P or a K to make a multi-part grab combo
and also can be combined with the EX Bolt Charge.

opponent. This can be used in a combo as well.
Wisdom Of Thoth (V-Trigger)
This summons six orbs that surround Menat. They can be launched at your
opponent by releasing the button associated with them. There will be two
columns of three orbs, each assigned to light, medium and heavy punches and
kicks.
Left Eye Of The Lion (V-Reversal)
This teleports Menat behind your opponent.

Soul Sphere
Menat throws her orb towards the enemy. LP aims down, HP high and MP mid.

Bullet Clear (V-Skill)
Absorbs projectiles or hits the enemy at close range.
Sonic Move (V-Trigger)
Teleports Nash to one of three locations. You can follow up with any attack
and quickly. Neutral + HP + HK will teleport you to the other side of your
opponent, even from across the entire screen.
His other two Sonic Moves drop Nash above your enemy. Forward will move you
to the opposite side of your enemy and Back will drop you on the same side
as you began.
Sonic Move - Avoid (V-Reversal)
Much like Nash's regular Sonic Move, this will teleport you away and behind
your opponent to relative safety.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Chopping Assault
This is a jumping overhead attack that doesn't have much range and a slower
startup but good to mix things up with especially when used as a Down Burst
(D + MP -> Chopping Assault)
Raptor Combination
This three-hit combo does great damage and Nash won't deliver the third hit
if your opponent blocks.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Sonic Boom
Now a classic quarter-circle motion, all three versions of the Sonic Boom
do the same damage but they travel at different speeds. LP is the fastest
and HP is the slowest. The EX SB does just a touch more damage.
Sonic Scythe
This maneuver has Nash kicking downwards for both LK and MK each knocking
down your enemy. The HK version, however, has a slow upstart but does a
swooping upwards kick that hits twice. A good anti-air if you have the time
to prep it. The EX Sonic Scythe does the HK version twice for a total of
five hits.
Moonsault Slash
This is a jump & Flash Kick combo that differentiates him from Guile
entirely. This makes Nash jump up and flash kick downwards with each
weight of the kick making him jump higer and come down farther away. The
EX Moonsault has Nash leap across most of the screen at a low angle. This
can be used over projectiles if timed properly. You can also whiff the
first hit if too far away and still hit the second set of kicks.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Judgement Saber
Nash will dash forwards, sneak behind your enemy and he'll do some sonic
attack through his/her head. It's a less-inspired CA, but it'll hit from
about 3/4 of the screen.

This changes Necalli's appearance, making the lines on his chest glow and
his hair do the same and flow into the air. His frame data is reportedly
different and almost all his attacks do more damage. Standard kicks have
no change but punches hit for 10 more damage, his specials do 20 more with
Raging Light connecting for an extra hit and his Critical Art changes as
well. Its second half is slightly altered and offers an extra 40 damage.

Mic Performance (V-Skill)
This can be charged five levels, as Rainbow Mika performs her motivational
speech. Each level will show a small ring around her head to notify you
the level has been reached.
During this, Mika can absorb one attack and upon releasing MP and MK, she
will throw the mic, dealing minor damage to her enemy.
Her regular and special throws will be upgraded for one use only. The math
goes as follows:
Level Charged 1 2 3 4 5
Multiplier 1.5x 2x 3x 5x 9x
Not that you could legitimately charge this during a match but at level 5...
Mika's normal Daydream Headlock deals 1,170 damage.
Her Rainbow Typhoon does a staggering 1,620.
And the Peach Assault inflicts...2,745...haha.
Considering most characters have about 1,000 life, 2,745 is just humorous!
Nadeshiko (V-Trigger)
Nadeshiko is tag-team partner and will come aid R. Mika when performing her
V-Trigger. Neutral plus HP + HK will have Nadeshiko appear from the top of
the screen while the other directions change her source location.
Peach Gator (V-Reversal)
One of the better V-Reversals in the game, R. Mika kicks her opponent and
does a neck drop. Damage isn't too impressive (60) but it's yet another
flashy way Mika impresses.

adding a kick at the end will. The Airborn Eagle Spike has Rashid performing
a dive kick and the Nail Assault will have him perform a upwards kick.
Ysaar (V-Trigger)
Rashid emits a tornado that will traverse the entire stage. If it hits his
opponent, it will hit three times. You can combo with this, cross-up your
enemy or use it for a speed boost or to help jump over the other fighter.
You cannot use your Whirlwind Shot while using Ysaar.

The only character in every SF game ever returns and is finally truly
differentiated from Ken in many ways. While Ken's new flashy moves change his
style, Ryu is as classic as ever, taking cues from all prior SF iterations.
His Mind's Eye V-Skill makes him a far more strategic character and the
rest of his moveset is as familiar as ever. And none of this takes into
account how ripped he is and how that beard somehow made Ryu even cooler than
he ever was!

--------
Mind's Eye (V-Skill)
This allows Ryu to parry an opponent's attack. It turns Ryu into a much
more strategic fighter. Time this V-Skill just as an enemy attack hits to
parry the move and to build your V meter.
Denjin Renki (V-Trigger)
Charges Ryu's Hadouken & Shinkuu Hadouken with electric abilities. They
now do added damage (and stun damage) and travel more quickly. The regular
Hadouken can also be charged by holding down punch. There are three levels
of charge, the third level will break your opponent's guard.
Hashogeki (V-Reversal)
Ryu blocks and does a quick fireball to counter.
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Collarbone Breaker
A two-hit overhead punch that has a slow startup but a good maneuver to mix
up your close game.
Solar Plexus Strike
What is now a Ryu staple, this move is a two-hit gut punch which is somewhat
faster to startup than Ryu's Collarbone Breaker.
Axe Kick
This will hit once as an overhead attack from a close range, but will hit
twice (once on the way up, the other as an overhead) when very close.
Jodan Nirengeki
Jodan Sanrengeki
A two-hit and three-hit punch/kick combo, the latter only does slightly more
damage than the former. The Nirengeki has a slower startup than the
Sanrengeki but both are useful for close quarters fighting.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Hadouken
Ryu's fireball hasn't changed much in its standard form, the three versions
dishing out the same damage. LP travels slowest, HP fastest and in its EX
form it travels faster and is a larger fireball. With Ryu's V-Skill, the
move will electrocute and do added damage. Tapping punch will hit once,
holding down briefly will hit twice and a full charge will hit three times.
The latter does twice as much damage as a regular hadouken. Each level of
charging will also make the fireball travel faster.
Shoryuken
The three versions reach different heights and the MP is the most useful
IMO. The EX version hits twice unless blocked.
When coupled with the Denjin Renki, they deal out additional damage and
electrocute.
Tatsumaki Senpukyaku
Unlike the changes to Ken, Ryu stays standard here as well with a one-hit
hurricane kick knockdown. You can combo into his critical art from this too.
His EX Tatsu is stationary and will not move forward but will pull opponents
in if close enough.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Shinkuu Hadouken / Denjin Hadouken
You can combo into these from all Ryu's specials. The Shinkuu Hadouken
hasn't changed much in all these years but if performed while in Denjin
Renki, it becomes a Denjin Hadouken for slightly more damage.

--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Psycho Axe
Shadow Axe
An overhead punch with purple trails. It doesn't do a terrible amount of
damage but it looks great and is an easy way to mix up your attacks. The
Shadow Axe adds a punch to the beginning.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Psycho Blast
Vega's projectile is merely a ball of psycho power appearing in front of
him. This is good as an anti-air or when close. It also cancels out other
projectiles. The EX version travels across the screen like the old days.
Double Knee Press
A series staple, Vega will flip and kick his enemy. The stronger the kick
button, the longer it takes to launch this attack. The EX version adds a
few extra kicks at the end for style.
------------
Critical Art
------------
Ultimate Psycho Crusher
Unlike Vega's old Psycho Crusher, he will not travel across the screen by
default. Vega now creates a spherical force field around him and if your
opponent touches this, he or she will be lifted up and hit. The range of
this is rather limited, however, so be sure to be close.

Muscle Explosion (V-Reversal)
Zangief will parry his enemy's attack and puff up his chest, placing his
hands on his hips. Classic Zangief pose!
--------------
Unique Attacks
--------------
Knee Hammer
This rising MK attack isn't so useful by itself but the lunge forward helps
Zangief get in closer which, as we all know, is where the damage truly lies.
Knee Hammer -> SPD is quick and far too easy!
Flying Body Press
Zangief will whiff if performed too early or on shorter foes. I could
combo into his Critical Art but not normal 360 moves with this attack.
-------------
Special Moves
-------------
Double Lariat
This powerful move allows Zangief to walk slowly forward or backwards while
performing. It's an instant knock down and projectiles will pass through
for the duration of the move.
Screw Pile Driver
This is no less impressive than when it was back in 1992 when I first saw
it. The 360 move does massive damage and stun damage. As a non-grappler
player, I don't know the downside to the HP version which does 33% more
damage than the LP version. The EX SPD does no additional damage but 20%
more stun.
Borscht Dynamite
This is a Lariat into a SPD in the air. As some gamers prepare their 360
motion in air, this can mess up your timing. (Pros don't need my guidance!)
This does a little less damage than a standard SPD and even less stun.
Your whiff animation leaves you floating in air, but it's not nearly as
punishable as a whiffed SPD! The EX version does less damage and stun
damage (why?) but not connecting doesn't leave you floating in the air.
Siberian Express
None will grab at a full-screen's distance, but this ridiculous maneuver
dishes out almost as much damage as an SPD. LK is slower than HK and the
EX version moves faster (but once again does less damage).
------------
Critical Art
------------
Bolshoi Russian Suplex
Its 400 damage is outrageous and it can be comboed into from a Flying Body
Press or Knee Hammer. Not as flashy as his old Final Atomic Buster, the</pre><pre id="faqspan-5">
look of fear and impending doom on his opponent's face is entirely worth it.

.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
Letters to the left of the Trophy/Achievement are for Playstation users.
B = Bronze
S = Silver
G = Gold
P = Platinum
These are in categories and are not organized as per the game.
Basic Game Modes
----------------
B Mastering The Basics Finish tutorial
B Bodybuilding Is Life Use Training Mode for 30 minutes
B Your Story Starts Here Clear Story Mode Once
B Lucky We Met Clear Story Mode 5x
B The 16 Trials Clear Story Mode 16x
B Win Or Die Tryin' Clear Survival Mode on Normal difficulty
S A True Warrior's Spirit Clear Survival Mode on Hard difficulty
G Back From Hell Clear Survival mode on Extreme difficulty
Mastering The Basics
The tutorial can be skipped, but you can go back to obtain this by going
into Story Mode.
Bodybuilding Is Life
This will unlock when you EXIT the mode. Just check the clock. Don't sit
in Training waiting!
Story Mode Clears
In story mode, simply clear each character's story. They are painfully
easy. Do this 16x for three trophies.
Survival Mode Clears
Normal difficulty presents a decent challenge (the last few opponents do,
at least). The other two difficulties are quite difficult, thus the silver
and gold trophies. Clear each mode without dying to receive these.
Character Levelling
-------------------
B One Step Forward Raise A Character's Level to 5
B Quantity Over Quality Raise five Characters to Level 5
B No Rest For The Wicked Raise all 16 characters to Level 5
S Slow But Steady Wins The Race Raise one character to level 30
B Vindicated Honor Raise your profile to level 50
S Burning Spirit Raise your profile to level 100
G Number 2 Is The New Number 1 Raise your profile to level 200
Note the difference between raising a character's level and your profile. The
first four above are a single character. The next three are for your
profile. The line break helps define this. Your profile adds together all the
individual character levels.
Online (* signify Not Including Battle Lounge)
------
B Fighting On The Internet (*) Fight in 10 Network Battles
B All Going To Plan! (*) Fight in 50 Network Battles
B A Fiendish Trap (*) Fight in 300 Network Battles
B Waiting Is Half The Fun Fight in 30 Network Battles (Using Standby)
B I Know Kung Fu! Win 1 Ranked Match
B Addicted To Winning Win 10 Ranked Matches
B Working Up An Appetite Win 30 Ranked Matches
S Ceaseless Effort Win 100 Ranked Matches
G Bam, Bam, Win! Win 300 Ranked Matches
B Always Someone Stronger Defeat 10 stronger opponents (Ranked Match)
B Savoring The Win Streak Win 3 consecutive Ranked Matches
B First Promotion! Move up in league
S Muscles Bring Victory Make it to Silver League
G Let's Fight Something Strong Make it to the Golden League
Always Someone Stronger
The higher the opponent's LP, the lower their rank will be. Defeat 10
players whose rank is lower than yours.
League Trophies
These require you to level up. See section 3c above for LP required to reach
the Bronze, Silver & Gold Leagues.
Miscellaneous Online
--------------------
B Failing To Prepare is... Collect 30 replays
B See You In My Dreams Watch 50 replays
B Not-So-Secret Admirer Add someone to your favorites
B Global Network Add 30 names to your favorites
See You In My Dreams
You must watch the entire replay for this to count. It can be the same
repay over and over. You can skip a round and fast forward.
Favorites Trophies
In the CFN you can look for fighters and favorite them as well. Simply add
30 names to this list for two trophies!
Moves & Finishes
----------------
B Go Out With A Bang 300 EX special finishes
B Critical Beauty 300 Critical Art finishes
B Not Over 'Til It's Over 100 V-Reversal uses
B Enlightenment 100 V-Skill uses
B Sudden Reversal 100 V-Trigger uses
Moves Trophies
The last two are easy and should come naturally by consistently using them
during gameplay. I don't use V-Reversals so much. That will be a grind and
doing these in Training mode won't count. You can do those in Versus mode,
however.
The first two require 300 finishes. Survival Mode counts for this, that
is an easy way to rack up repeated EX/CA finishes. You'll have to save up
a full bar to get a CA finish, and to get 300 will take you a long time.
Miscellaneous
-------------
B Playing Favorites Set a favorite character
B All In A Name Choose a Title
B Make A Name For Yourself Collect 10 titles
B Sultan Of Titles Collect 30 titles
B Priceless Obtain 1,000,000 FM
B The Outfit Is The Highlight... Gain one new color for your outfit
In order to play online you'll have to set up your details in Battle Settings.
Playing Favorites / All In A Name
Set a favorite character and a title for two trophies.
Titles Trophies
30 titles is a lot and will require a lot of online playing with several
characters. Title unlocks are in section 3d above.
The Outfit Is The Highlight Of Battle
You'll gain a new color by completing Survival on Easy, Normal or Hard.
Just beat Easy and you'll gain one color.
Priceless
1,000,000 FM is a lot but it appears you do *not* need to have a million on
hand. You can have 800,000 and have spent 200,000. Earn 1,000,000 in total
for this one.
.And Finally...
----------------
P The Never-Ending Path Obtain all other trophies
Collect every other trophy/achievement for this one! I will never obtain this
one! Good luck!

.--=--=--=--=--=--=--=--=-.========================
A lot of trial and error was used on this guide and therefore there may be
problems (with the error portion of my plan). The in-game movelist was used
as well as the official site. Otherwise, a lot of Training Mode tinkering and
the pretty awesome Recording Mode in Training helped too.
However, special thanks to:

Shoryuken.com
As a long-time follower of the SF community, Shoryuken has consistently had
great articles and useful dialogues. Their article on V-Skills and
V-Triggers that was posted by Ian "iantothemax" Walker was used as a basis,
albeit tweaked, and that very list was edited by WOPM2 for Reddit, so I'd
like to credit both!
