new combinations of recipes though. These recipes all work; I was very
careful to write them down as I made them. You may get the same recipes with
different combinations of people because you happened to use one person
before I did. These are here not to list every possible combo but to provide
one that I'm sure of in case you missed it.

I've seen several posts at the boards here at gamefaqs looking for item
creation faqs, so I decided to put one together. I've listed all the recipes,
where to get them, and where to find items so you can then make them. The faq
is separated into seven parts:

If you're looking for a particular item, just use Control+F to search for
it in the faq.

I've read at the boards that lots of recipes can be made in several different
combinations, and I've found that to be true. I've also read that arranging
people in different ways will affect the recipes. I have not found that one
true. I often re-arranged my people just to check, and that never created
new recipes.

If you're new to Item Creation (IC), this is always done on the Calnus in
the room straight across from the bridge. When you approach the central panel
at the back of the room and hit X, Welch will appear and Item Creation can
begin. I have included the items required for recipes just for convenience,
but you cannot make an item until you have its recipe even if you have all
the necessary components in inventory.

You can access directions for making items via this control panel, but
basically, you just put your characters into the available slots in different
combinations, and they'll think up ideas. If you played SO3, you'll be
familiar with this system, but it's easier here because they never fail.

A few high-level recipes show up as ??????????????. The names will not appear
until you make the item.

For the purposes of this faq, I would level my people's creation skills up to
Level 10 and create everything I could then re-load the save so that I could
test it with the next person. In this way, I was able to find alternate
recipes, especially for items you might miss with Faize.

In the listing below, the S. Lv. is the skill level required to make that
recipe, so if you're trying to make a recipe and it won't work for you, check
to make sure you have enough skill level. If there's something listed here
that won't work, that's probably the problem.

SC = Symbol Card

Regular symbol cards are the spell at level 5; the plus versions are level
10. Anyone can use a symbol card to cast a spell, but its power is still
dependent on that person's intelligence stat, so someone like Reimi is not
going to hit very hard with a symbol card. If you're making lots of symbol
cards, I would recommend that you wait until you have Li'L Vending Machine 3;
it will save you tremdendous amounts of running back and forth to ENII.

If you're going for the item creation achievement, you must get Faize's
Saber recipes before he leaves your party. You can only get the achievement
with Arumat because only he makes makes recipes for Vile Goop and his
scythes.

Making recipes comes out of your Party SP. There are many ways to get this -
opening chests, harvesting, mining, using your rings to open doors, green
tiles (ambushes) on your bonus board, etc.

I have listed all the recipes in the same order they're listed on the IC
menu.

II. Synthesis (IC102)   **

The last section on your Item Creation menu is synthesis. Sakurayule here on
the boards has announced a synthesis faq in progress, which is great, so I'm
not going to spend a lot of time on synthesis, but basically, you can improve
your equipment by attaching (synthing) other items/equipment to it.

There are a couple of things you need to remember:

1) You can only add four factors to any piece of equipment, so first put
  those factors on a cheap weapon then synth it to your item; this saves
  extra slots for other things like tri-Emblems which build stats.

2) If you're making uber-equipment, do your armor first. You'll get a lot
  more bang for your buck with tri-emblems on your armor since all five
  stats are raised.

Two imporant things you'll want to know about are Exp.+ and Fol +
equipment, so I'll cover just those two things.

If you want to level up quickly, make yourself some Exp. + equipment. There
are a couple of different ways to do this, but we'll just touch on one.

You'll need Warning Brooches, Aquaberries, *Curry Rice, and Silvances. All of
these items are available in Tatroi on Roak (you can do this same thing with
Sacrifical Dolls for a little less money, but they take a bit more time
because they have an extra slot, so it would be Aquaberry, Aquaberry, Curry
Rice).

*All of the ingredients for Curry Rice are available in Tatroi and/or Vending
Machines 1 and 2. You still have to make it on the Calnus. The ingredients
you need are White Rice, Raw Animal Meat, Vegetables, and Seasonings.
Just buy all you can carry so you can make several at a time.

Silvances are no-factor weapons, so you can use all the slots for what you
want. Bastard Swords would work, too, but they cost twice as much and the
ATK added is negligible.

Here it is step-by-step:

1. In the IC menu, go to Synthesis
2. Choose Warning Brooch as your base item
3. Add an Aquaberry (it will add 30% immunity to poison)
4. Choose the same Warning Brooch (now with extra letters after its name)
  as your base item again
5. Add a Curry Rice (it will add Experience +15%)
6. Now choose a Silvance as your base item
7. Add the Warning Brooch - it will add Experience +20% (it's 20% only
  for weapons - changes back to 15% on accessories)

You'll notice that only the last attribute on the Warning Brooch will
transfer, so now you have a Silvance with Experience +20%. But you can add
four factors, so make three more Warning Brooches and synth them to the
same Silvance for an experience +80% weapon.

If you have enough Silvances, you can synth them on weapons for everyone
else plus accessories. I start with accessories because those can be traded
among all of your characters.

You can't put Experience/Fol + on armor.

The Silvance can also be synthed to accessories, but they will only have
three available slots (so you would only synth three warning brooches to it).
The experience will be +15%, so each accessory can be +45%. Each character
can have as much as 80% + 45% + 45% for a total of Experience + 170%, and
since these stack, if your entire party is equipped this way, that's
Experience + 680% per fight. Your levels will jump. The bonus board can make
this go even higher, but once I have this equipment, I don't worry with the
bonus board much.

The same thing works with Fol. For this you would follow the exact same steps
except you'll use Mille-feulle (FOl + 40%) instead of Curry Rice.

Once you have access to Seven Stars Dungeon, you can equip your party with
either of these sets and fight Metal Scumbags on the 6th floor (use
Ocarina to re-spawn them over and over). For money, use Bacchus's Black
Hole Sphere to keep the scumbags from running away. When they enter rush
mode, they will rob you, but they can't escape as long as you're spamming
BHS. When they die, you'll have millions of fol. For experience, this
isn't necessary - just kill them. They're worth 1.5 million + experience with
a full set of experience equipment.

Beyond this, the best way to learn synthesizing is to play with it. Save
first and then just experiment. That way, you can start over if you mess up.
Hold on to Potent Seeds because they're tremendous when making your heavy-
duty equipment. Potent Attack Seeds synthed to a weapon add 18% to your
attack stat, for example, or Potent Health Seeds on armor add 20% HP. These
can be synthed directly to equipement without the warning brooch/aquaberry
technique. To save slots, however, you should put the four factors you want
on a factorless piece of cheap armor then synth that armor to your final
equipment. This will leave you three extra slots for tri-Emblems.

Many people wait until they have Duplication to make this equipment. When
you can Dupe, you can synth one Silvance and duplicate it several times to
add to all the equipment. It just depends on how early you want to make it.

Ruddle's Place

Ruddle is a traveling salesman who will only set up shop after you help him.
Look for a downcast-looking man just left of the town entrance of Tropp
after you've finished the Pergatorium. You must give him a Traveler's Cloak
and a Map of Astral. He'll vanish. Go find him on the docks in Tropp (you
may have to leave town and return) and give him another Map of Astral.

Now, talk to the old man near the weapon's shop to receive the Sandbird
quest. Kill the Sandbird near the oasis closest to Tatroi and return to the
old man. Then catch a bunny and return to that same oasis to find the old man
and the sandbird revived. Kill the sandbird again to turn off the quicksand
permanently. Ruddle will now leave Tropp and come to Tatroi. Fez's brother
will, too, if you gave him Fez's note. Find the old man in the Tatroi Inn
to get Ocarina.

To access Wandering Dungeon (WD), you must first complete the Seven Stars
Dungeon in the Tatroi Arena (accessible only with the Darkness Ring). After
beating the Seven Stars boss, return to the Old Road, and the man who sent
you after the Wind Ring earlier will be standing close to the transporter
and will tell you a new mysterious dungeon has appeared.

Just remember to do the money trick with Bacchus before you find him because
you'll kick yourself if you're broke when he appears. I spent 50 million
last time I saw him. This shop randomly appears in the Wandering Dungeon.
I've never found him before the fifteenth floor, but I think that's just bad

I am not listing harvesting/mining points one at a time. Harvest points
show up on your map as green areas and harvesting points as rocks. I'm not
sure how much skill levels affect what you receive (except for rarer items),
but it greatly affects the amounts you receive. The following lists are
all items I've found on a particular planet. You'll notice the more you play
that certain items show up in different areas. On Roak, for example, you'll
find different items in the desert than on the rest of the planet. The same
is true for the Astral Caves. There's still overlap between all the areas.

If your inventory is full of a particular item, you will not harvest/mine
that item; if this is true of all the items in a particular spot, you'll get
a message that you could not obtain any items.

To give this a fair test, I dumped my items then ran each planet. I always
thought Nox Obscurus was a cheap place because I never got anything
harvesting there, but I got a lot when I cleared my inventory.

*To make all the harvest/mining points re-spawn, go back to the Calnus. You
don't have to rest or anything - just step in the door, and they're all back.

You can find this information in your monster collection lists. Item drops
are always listed from the rarest to the most common, so the item at the
top is the hardest to get. Keep in mind that if a monster hasn't dropped
something for you, it won't be on your list. For example, the Sydonaist Beta
drops five different items. In hundreds of fights working on Edge's drop
BT's, I only received one Intelligence Seeds, so this item was not on that
list until I got it. When going after rare drops, be sure to have the person
with the skill for that type of enemy in your active party. If you're going
after Lezard Flasks from Spirit Bishops in the Pergatorium, for example,
you'll want Edge in your party for his Anthropology skill to increase your
chances of a rare drop. Rare drops can be a major pain. In the following
list, Giant Bat is a good example. I've killed enough of these to have 100%
in my monster collection, but they have given Meracle no trophies for the
Blackberries, so they plainly have at least one other drop item I've never
gotten, so this list isn't complete, but it should have most items listed.
I've taken it straight from my monster collection. I have 100% on every
enemy except for in the two optional post-game dungeons, so that will give
you an idea of how hard some items can be to get.

There are a few items you'll need that won't become available for a long
while and/or you'll need many of. All Duplication costs are based on
Duplication maxed out at Level 10.

Moonstone - The first Moonstone you'll get is in a chest in the Seven Stars
Dungeon. You can dupe this for only one Magical Clay at higher skill levels.
It's also dropped by enemies in the Wandering Dungeon like the Jade Golem.

Philosopher's Stone - This is first available as a drop item from Damascus
Forts in the Wandering Dungeon. The earliest I've seen one is on the 13th
floor. On higher floors, you can find them randomly in chests.

Red Dragon Scale - Dropped by Phantom Dragon Newts on Nox Obscurus; it seems
like I have found this in a chest, too, but I didn't write it down.

Dominator Dragons in the Wandering Dungeon. The earliest I've seen one is on
the 17th floor. On higher floors, you can find them randomly in chests.

Gabriel Celeste Feather - Gabriel Celeste will give you one when you beat
him at Seven Stars Dungeon. They cannot be duplicated.

Ethereal Queen Feather - The Ethereal Queen will give you one when you beat
her in the Wandering Dungeon. They cannot be duplicated.

tri-Emblems - There are two different tri-Emblems in the game - the fake
ones dropped by Thieving Scumbags on Roak and the real thing sold by Santa
in the Wandering Dungeon. The real ones cost a cool $2 million each ($1.8
with a discount) but are the uber-synthing items of the game. Synthed on
armor, they raise all stats. On weapons, they raise the first three. That's
why I told you to always start with your armor. To make the super-duper
tri-Emblem, start with a fake tri-Emblem as your base item then synth eight
real ones to that. This accessory alone will up all of your stats
significantly (ATK goes up by 1600, for example), and because you've synthed
them to a fake, you can dupe them for only 1 Magical Clay each. Isn't that
lovely? :)

Real tri-Emblems from Santa cannot be duplicated.

When you feed one of these to one of your players, a seed will be randomly
generated. I have recieved both regular seeds and potent seeds, so if you
need seeds, save and try these until you get what you need. I hoped I could
dupe them more cheaply then other seeds, but no...

Duplication Cost - 11 Magical Clay

Magical Clay - You will need tons of this for Duplication. You can mine it
on the Return to Aeos side of Aeos and in the Sanctuary on ENII, but it's
much easier to get in the Seven Star Dungeon. Equip Myuria with Steal and
your souped-up Slayer's Bangle and let her steal from the skeletons on the
first floor. I kill the bat and the bee to get them out of my way then just
steal from that skeleton, escape, steal, escape. Ocarina would work here,
too, but it brings back the stupid bees along with the skeleton, so I prefer
to run - just whichever you prefer. If you have items in your inventory that
you know you want to duplicate, go ahead and dupe as you go to cut down on
trips back here. So you can load up on duplicated items and still leave with
a full inventory. This is a great tip I read on the board, but I wasn't
writing a faq at the time so didn't write down who it was. But thanks!

One-of-a-Kind Items - There are a few items that I've only ever received one
of in a playthrough, so if you are going to use any of these, you might want
to Dupe it first since you can't get another:

Time Stopper
Silver Chalice
Gold Chalice
Chalice of Love
SRF Armor/Protector
Astralian Emblem
Lutea's Sacred Stone
Silent Talisman

I think there only two Ultimate Bombs available (+35% HP Damage synth item),
so you might want to watch that one, too. I've only ever seen two Broken
Metal Cutting Blades as well.

VII. Miscellaneous Skills/Info (IC107)     **

Duplication

The Duplication skill lets you copy items in your inventory. You get
Duplication from a chest on the 7th floor of Seven Stars Dungeon, accessible
post-game after you have the Darkness Ring. To access, use the Darkness Ring
on the door of light on the first floor of the arena in Tatroi. Faize and
Arumat can both use this skill, so learn it as soon as you have it and level
it up to reduce the amount of Magical Clay required.

Stealing

Two of your characters can steal - Myuria and Meracle. To steal, get close
to an enemy then push the direction stick toward the enemy as you hit the
attack button - it's the same move as a close quarters attack. Steal must be
equipped as a Battle Skill. I have better luck with Myuria simply because
Meracle throws in a couple of swipes at the end that slow her down. To speed
up Stealing, synth three Ashlay Bernbeldt monster jewels to a Slayer's Bangle.
Ashlay jewels add an extra hit as does the Slayer's Bangle, so this accessory
will turn each hit into multiple attacks. It does the same for stealing -
it will give you several steal attempts per attack. Anything a monster
drops can be stolen. You can only steal once per enemy in a fight.

Ocarina

You receive this skill for Meracle by killing the sandbird twice on Roak as
part of the quest for the old man in Tropp. The way Ocarina works is that
after you kill an enemy, take a step or two away and use Ocarina. The enemy
will re-spawn where it died. This is invaluable for farming items/experience/
fol - whatever you need from monsters. With large enemies like the Forsaken
Beast in the Palace of Creation, you don't even have to move a lot of the
time. Just remember that if you use Ocarina and it doesn't work, you have to
move. It doesn't work on bosses.

Monster Jewels

To make a Monster Jewel, you have to have 100% in the Monster Collection
list for that monster. Just go to your Monster Collection, choose a monster,
and you will be given the option to transfer the info to a monster jewel
(assuming you have one in inventory). It will then become a neck accessory
you can wear. They can also be synthed onto other equipment. The most useful,
especially for new games, is Ashlay Bernbeldt. To get this jewel, you have
to beat Ashlay in the team competition of the arena seven times to bring his
Monster Collection total to 100%. Synthed onto other equipment, his jewel
adds extra hits to your attacks.

To obtain 100% on bosses without playing the game multiple times, make two
or three saves. Beat the boss and save in one slot then re-load from another
slot just before the fight and re-do it until you have 100%
