Disclaimer: All translated elements are not 100% accurate. I "translate" with
the intent to keep things understandable, and so a skill like 連射増強
is translated as Multishot Mastery instead of Reinforcement of Multiple Shots
because it captures what the skill does without needing to look it up.

Quest #25 - Author at the Kiramaki Cave
Difficulty: 2
REQ: None
Rewards: 10 CP, Q#13, and Q#36
---------------------------------------
This is how I'll be showing the quests. First off will be the Quest Number,
and the name of the quest listed at alicesoft.wikia.com. The difficulty
rating, +5, is the maximum level a character can have before that character
starts receiving reduced experience. Next are the possible requirements a
quest has before one can proceed into it, and the rewards for finishing it.
These are how I introduce characters. When you first obtain a new character,
I'll post this, which is really their name, their class, and the skills they
start with in the order they are listed. This is most useful for those who
can't read the skills.
---------
Important
---------
If you decide not to follow this Walkthrough, here are some general tips to
help you through this game.
- Whenever you fail a quest, you lose all the items you obtained. However,
you keep all experience and gold. Whenever you need to level up, consider
sending characters to a place much stronger than they are so that they can
kill one enemy, gain experience from that one fight, die in the next, and
not lose valuable CP. This is useful the higher the difficulty gets.
- Skill Points shouldn't be wasted. Barring the occassional boosts you can
get, you are limited to essentially the level cap of the individual
character. Make each Skill Point count, as upgrading anything only gives
you one Action Point of that move if it's an Active Skill.
- Don't be afraid to form parties that work well together. Your Charisma
can reach a high number and for some areas you can switch an infinite amount
of times. It's better to have efficient parties than fragmented ones.
Walkthrough:
============
[WLK1]
As you start the game, you'll find yourself in a dungeon. Past some dialogue,
you'll enter into battle with a generic Swordsman and Archer.
Before doing anything, hit the red button next to the Game Over sign. That'll
exit you from the mission, and bring you to the preparation screen. Don't
worry too much about this, I'll explain it when you're meant to arrive here.
For now, select the third panel (from the left), and put Suzume in your party.
She's a front row fighter at the moment, so put her in the front row beside
Rance. Now the real quest can begin.
- Suzume's Weapon Attack 1 can one-shot the Archer, while Rance's Weapon Attack
1 can one-shot the Swordsman. Sachiko can do whatever. You want to use as few
actions as possible because you only get a limited number per quest, and it's
good to get into the habit for the later quests. Sachiko should level up from
this battle.
===============
Follow the path, and you'll come across your next Fixed Battle.
===============
Fixed Battle #2
===============
Squid Man Squid Man
--- --- ---
- While Suzume may not defeat a Squid Man in one attack, Sachiko can follow up
with a Shield Bash to finish it off.
===============
Continue along the path and touch the Green Star with an Exclamation Point.
They're called Events and are usually for furthering the story, although some
hold battles in later quests. After this, you'll notice a blue sphere to the
left. Ignore it for now and continue right. You'll have a Fixed Battle not
long after.
===============
Fixed Battle #3
===============
--- ---
Squid Man --- Squid Man
- This is more or less the same battle as before. It shouldn't be hard to
finish them both off.
===============
Continue along the path, ignoring the Red Star with an Exclamation Point and go
down to your fourth Fixed Battle.
- One attack by Rance finished him off.
===============
Go back and touch the blue sphere, which restores everybody's HP to full.
Unfortunately, it doesn't restore action points, so you'll have to remember
that in future quests. Now, to continue, touch the Red Star. Pretty much
anything Red stands for a battle, so this'll be another fixed battle.
However, this usually denotes a midboss, boss, or slightly harder regular
battle.
===============
Fixed Battle #5
===============
--- ---
Squid Man Hanny Squid Man
- The Hanny has enough health to cause problems for your team, and if you
didn't get Suzume you don't have enough actions normally to finish off the
entire team. That's what Rance Attack is for. Rance Attack has been upgraded,
presumably because of how much it was used versus enemy armies. However, it
takes a turn to charge up, so it can't be used right away. Do what damage you
can to the Hanny, then unleash Rance Attack on Rance's second turn to defeat
them all. With Suzume, it's pretty simple to take them out without Rance
Attack.
Keep in mind that you can lose this one and still continue on. This won't be
true about future Battle Events.
===============
From there, go all the way up, and just before the treasure chest, you'll get
another fixed battle.
- Well, this is interesting. This battle will require Sachiko to attack
Kyankyan if you don't have Suzume. Otherwise, a simple battle.
===============
Go ahead and grab the treasure, then go back and take a left, going through
another Event, and after that, move to the middle of the next room for your
final Fixed Battle.
- They'll poison you, but it barely matters at this point in the game. Beat
them soundly with attacks, keeping in mind that you most likely need Suzume or
Rance Attack (sans Suzume) to beat them completely.
===============
Finally, move up to the Author's house to trigger the final Event. You'll
receive 10 CP, and unlock Quests #13 and #36.

Base Camp
---------
The panels here are your main locations.
The 1st is greyed out, so you won't be able to select it yet.
The 2nd is the Shop. You can buy stat enhancers, weapons, armor, and access-
ories, and if you open your inventory, you can sell your items for 10 gold
apiece. Because of that, you're better off donating. Sure, you don't get
gold, but every time when you donate 25 items, a new item appears in the shop.
The 3rd is the Party Menu. Here, you can adjust party members and everyone's
equipment.
The 4th is the Quest Menu. Here, you can select your next Quest.
For those that can't read the "moonrunes" (like me), there really isn't
anything that you need to know, just that the Shop menu's is, in order, Stat
Enhancers, Weapons, Armor, and Accessories. By the way, your inventory is
right next to the System Menu button, which has the four colored hannies on it.
The button on the top right of each item is the donate button, and the one
right next to it (to the left, only when the Shop panel is open) is the sell
button. Everything else is either in English or aren't necessary to mess with.
As you can see from the Rewards section, do this quest twice to obtain a Skill
Reset item. It's not really necessary as long as you pay a visit to the
Character Sheet Section and plan out what you want to learn. But, this Skill
Reset is here in case you need it.
For Rance, I recommend upgrading:
- Rance Attack
- Weapon Attack 3
- Efficient Action
For Sachiko, I recommend upgrading:
- Skill Slots
- Weapon Attack 3
- Shield Block
- Initial Guard
For Suzume, I recommend upgrading:
- Assassination
- Weapon Attack 3
- Assassination Mastery
You'll see an extra skill if you check her skill list at the very bottom. It
has a different color outline, and that's because of her accessory, the
Seirogan Box. It gives its equipper an equippable skill that can restore a
target's HP by 50% of their max. That gives Prima a clear role for the early
game: a healer. However, because of her class, she isn't that strong defen-
sively, and because of her low level cap, she has a problem in the later game.
She'll still be good as your initial healer, but it's not recommended to make
too much use of her.
For Prima, I recommend upgrading:
- Slingshot
- Simple Treatment 2
- Treasure Luck
- Identify Treasure
Starting with this quest, except for certain quests I will mention, certain
areas of quests will be randomly selected between a few different kinds of maps
for that certain quest. The selected map will become the only one that shows
up if the quest is completed with that map. For this quest, I've seen at least
six configurations of the first map, but the second map is always the same. As
such, I cannot give a step-by-step walkthrough, but at the very least it's
straightforward this time around.
First off, there will be a purple icon with spinning rectangles. This is a
teleporter, so get used to seeing it. It teleports you to another map.
In this map, you may be introduced to light blue spheres. These spheres are
experience boosters, and they increase experience gained by 3% per sphere, so
they're handy for training.
You may also see a large G coin. Running into this will give you gold
automatically. It's nice to see, but rather rare early on.
Most of the Battle Events in this map will be of a Grape Monster, and you
will obtain one bunch of Grapes from each of them. Obtaining 5 of them ends
the mission. However, there's one Battle Event that has three of those
monsters, and taking it out still gives you one bunch, so it's great for
training.
In the first map, make your way to the teleporter, making sure to ignore the
Battle Events if you can. Once you teleport into the second map, you'll get
thrown into a battle.
- Finally, the Archer's not in the front row. Still doesn't make the fight any
harder, just a little longer because there's one more Swordsman. Make sure to
guard Prima with Sachiko, and wail on them with Rance and Suzume. Don't use
Rance Attack this early, you'll want to save it, especially since there's no
limit to the moves allowed in this battle (typically denoting a Midboss or
Boss).
===============
Once you're done, go ahead and check out the entire map. There should be at
least three treasure chests, and if you're lucky, some experience boosters and
large G coins. Don't worry if you don't see any. (Two of the treasure chests
have Clubs, we'll need those for a later quest.)
Red Treasure Chests have a chance of exploding when you try to open them, but
with Suzume in the party, you can safely open one without penalty. Upgrading
her Safe Chest Opening will increase the amount of Red Chests you can safely
open.
Once you're done collecting all the bonuses, make your way to the bottom left
to face off against the three Grape Monsters I mentioned earlier.
- A dangerous fight, particularly because they have a 50% chance to stun with
their normal attack. This is dangerous, especially because you only have ~10
of your own turns to defeat them. This is what Rance Attack is for. Assuming
that Rance is stunned on his first turn, he'll gain resistance to it so he
probably won't be stunned again in the same fight. Use Rance Attack to kill
all of them. I had it tough when I made this insert because the Monsters
stunned my entire front row, leaving only Prima to properly act. Thankfully,
Rance managed to survive another stun attempt and Rance Attacked his way to a
win.
===============
From there, proceed to the other Battle Events and finish off the solo Grape
Monsters. There shouldn't be a problem with any of them, and after getting
5 Bunches of Grapes, you're done. You may need to return to the previous area
to finish the quest; that shouldn't be a problem.
Finishing any 1 Quest seems to unlock Q#114.
At this point, I like to repeat Quest #83, because despite the fact I actually
lose CP in the long run, it's a good and easy place to train, I don't have to
buy the necessary clubs for the party, and every time I finish two quests
(whether new or not) somebody new shows up in Quest #16 to recruit. I'll be
listing the new recruits here as if Quest #83 is being repeated over and over
again.
-------------------------------
Quest #16 - Scouting at the Bar
Difficulty: 0
REQ: None
Recruit: Mahoko P. Masai
-------------------------------
The second time around this quest becomes available, you'll recruit Mahoko.
She'll be your only mage character for a long time, so make the most of her.
One of Mahoko's biggest problems is the fact that her attacks cost so many
skill points just to upgrade. Her level cap might be an issue, but she's at
the borderline level. Level 25 as a level cap is just barely passable, so if
you decide to stick with this firebrand she'll be useful as a Fire Mage.
Weakness Search is a must if you're planning to use Sparta characters. Every
time you Weakness Search an enemy, it unlocks their weakness for certain
characters, including every Sparta character, to take advantage of their
weakness.
For Mahoko, I recommend upgrading:
- Fire Explosion (to 3)
- Hellfire
- Fire Laser
- Fire Mastery
-------------------------------
Quest #16 - Scouting at the Bar
Difficulty: 0
REQ: None
Recruit: Megadeth Moromi
-------------------------------
Don't call her Megadeth! She doesn't like that! Anyways, third time around
Megadeth shows up. She's your only Gunner class for a while, but there's a
slight problem with her.
Yup, it's that level cap. She has a hard time fitting in with the rest of the
party even during the early game, so that's bad. Unless you really like
Megadeth, don't bother using her.
For Megadeth, I recommend upgrading:
- Multishot
- Field Scout
- Multishot Mastery
-------------------------------
Quest #16 - Scouting at the Bar
Difficulty: 0
REQ: None
Recruit: Cessna Benville
-------------------------------
And another Iceflame member returns. It's Cessna at number 4! Of course,
like Megadeth, that Level Cap...
Her Sleepyhead skill is interesting in that it drops her accuracy by 30% to
gain 60% in critical rate. It's halved when it's not equipped (acc -15%, crit
+30%), but it's generally a benefit later on in the game, especially with
Hammer weapons capped at 85% accuracy. The problem is that she doesn't have
much in the way of levels and thus will get dropped fairly early.
For Cessna, I recommend upgrading:
- Weapon Attack 3
- Increase Accuracy
- Hammer Mastery
-------------------------------
Quest #16 - Scouting at the Bar
Difficulty: 0
REQ: None
Recruit: Alexander
-------------------------------
And for your final reward, (you won't get any more from Quest #16 just by
finishing quests) you get Alexander, the first male besides Rance in the party.
His level cap is insanely good, so if you use him, you won't be disappointed.
However, do keep in mind that because he is male, he has a few disadvantages
that will become apparent in the near future.
For Alexander, I recommend upgrading:
- Elemental Punch
- Grappling Mastery
- All of the Grapple Mastery: Element skills
By this time, you should have opened quite a few red treasure chests from
Quest #83. If you're lucky enough, you would have gotten a scroll. Once you
defeat 5 Monster Girls, the character listed on the scroll (in this case, Sel)
will show up in Quest #16 as a recruitable character. Right now, I'm not going
to get her, but if you want to do so right now, equip the scroll in the
accessory slot of a party member, then head to Quest #25 and finish off the
Quest 5 times, making sure to fight and win Fixed Battle #5.
I'll do Sel's character data, and then we'll head off to Quest #86.
Starting at this map, and with a few exceptions (which I will list), instead of
fixed battles, random battles will show up.
Even assuming you did the training over at Quest #83 by repeating it, there
still is a good chance you're not strong enough to take on the quest and run
around looking for treasure. This is especially true because there are now
Red Mines around. You might have seen this icon three below the Experience
Booster icon on the right side of the screen. These Red Mines contain
guaranteed battles that occassionally might have a battle as strong as a
midboss. In this quest, that battle will be against five humans, and it isn't
a kind battle to say the least. If you want to explore in the map, go ahead,
but when you run into a Red Mine and a conversation triggers, hit the second
option to back away from the fight. You most likely can't beat it and finish
the quest.
Either way, continue along the path until you get to the teleporter. The mini-
event (the Green Star without an exclamation point) isn't necessary to touch.
In the second area, at the first fork, take the path heading right. You'll
notice a mini-event at a sort of tent. Ignore that. Immediately after, you'll
see an Event. For the purposes of this Walkthrough, take this one. Select the
first option. (Selecting the second will give us an item for us to take, but
Quest #87 won't unlock if we do that. We'll be coming back for that item
later.
Continue along the path, taking the upper road again, until you reach the next
room. In this third and final area, again take the upper road at each fork.
Follow the path until you see the first of three events. The first two will
be Mini-events, but the final will be a Battle Event. Choose that, watch the
CG, and then fight them.
===============
Boss
===============
Roupaa Yankee Leader
Yankee Ruronta Yankee
- I hope you came with enough moves. I wandered a bit and started this fight
with a Suzume with no more moves. You'll want to unleash Rance Attack for this
fight, and hopefully Mahoko has some of her Fire Explosion left to use.
Sachiko should keep guarding, and when her guard is high enough (>200%), switch
to attacking. Suzume should use Shurikens on the Roupaa early on and the
Yankee Leader when he's on the front row. Prima should use her Treatments and
Seirogan Box to keep as many people as possible healthy, Mahoko should use all
her spells, Weakness Search included (at the end, though). Megadeth should
just normally attack. Same thing goes with Cessna and Alexander. If you have
Sel, go ahead and use any of her healing. She's essentially another Prima.
However, as long as you have at least one Fire Explosion and the Rance Attack
ready to go, you can escape this battle without anyone dying.
===============
Finishing this battle ends the quest. If you selected the first option in that
Event, you'll unlock Quest #87. If you selected the second option or ignored
the Event entirely, you'll get an Ahoge. It's a B-rank Stat Enhancer.
Next, we'll be tackling Quest #26 before continuing to the second part of the
walkthrough.
----------------------------------------------------
Quest #26 - Find that guy and regain his manuscripts
Difficulty: 4
REQ: Sachiko must be in the initial party
Rewards: 10 CP
----------------------------------------------------
This initial map has at least three different maps, so all I can say is that
the teleporter is generally towards the upper right of this map. In addition,
there'll be a new feature of maps: traps. They're circular sections that look
like teeth circling an area going up and down through the floor. Try not to
step on them, as they do different things to you (and they're not good).
The second map is always the same. As soon as you enter, head up. At the next
fork, take the upper path. You'll see a Green Teleporter. These Teleporters
are useful if you want to finish the map and keep all the items you obtained,
but don't want (or can't) finish the Quest. We'll ignore it this time, and
head up-left from there. You'll see a Battle Event. Engage.
- This battle shouldn't be too hard. The mushrooms fall in two hits easily,
so just smack them hard.
===============
Continue on, take the Teleporter, and find yourself in a place that seems very
familiar. If you don't recognize it, it's the same map from Quest #25! There
are no Fixed Battles, however, so continue along the same path you took. When
you get to the area where the doors were (and where Quest #25 ended), notice
that there are two Events. The Event below the doors ends the quest, whereas
the Mini-Event at the Doors gives you the option to kill the man you saw back
at Quest #25 (it's the first option). We need him for later, so don't do it.
[SKLL]
Skill cost is either a static number or a formula: a + bx. The "x" stands for
how many levels or uses it has. For example, Rance starts with Rance Attack,
which has 1 use. Upgrading it (at level 15) costs 5 + 1(1) or 6 Skill Points.
There's a catch, however. At 3 levels/uses, 5 levels/uses, and 10 levels/uses,
upgrading the skill costs 1 more than it normally should.
Here's a sample chart adapted from alicesoft.wikia.com.
This formula doesn't apply to a few skills, namely, the Elemental Mastery
skills that Sorcerers have. Initially, the Skill cost is 2, but for every
Mastery skill learned or upgraded, the cost of any other Mastery skill for
that Sorcerer goes up by 1. Let's say Mahoko has Fire Mastery learned with
one star. To upgrade Fire Mastery to two stars costs 4 Skill Points.
If, instead, she decides to learn Light Mastery, she still has to pay 4
Skill Points for it.
-=~=-
Some of your Units may have an additional skill or two. This is due to
templates. Besides a few Sorcerers and every Civilian, all characters are
given a random template. How can you tell the difference? Well, it's really
due to two skills:
Identify Treasure
お宝鑑定
and
Capture Mastery
捕獲の知識
Characters under Template 1 have Identify Treasure. It'll be at the beginning
of a character's White Skill List.
Characters under Template 2 have Capture Mastery. It'll be at the end of a
character's White Skill List.
Characters under Template 3 won't have either skill.
Usually, this doesn't change much, but for some classes, it changes a
few things.
Sorcerers that have Template 1 will learn the Fire spells, Ice spells, and
Thunder spells.
Sorcerers that have Template 2 will learn the Ice spells, Thunder spells, and
Light spells.
Sorcerers that have Template 3 will learn the Fire spells, Light spells, and
Dark spells.
"Short Sword Mastery" costs 2 for Template 1.
"Hammer Mastery" costs 2 for Template 2.
"Spear Mastery" costs 2 for Template 3.
"Grappling Mastery" costs 2 for Template 1.
"Stealth Mastery" costs 2 for Template 1. (Suzume is exempt from this.)
-=~=-
Assassination is a Skill that deals damage equal to an opponent's HP. It has
a fixed success rate:
50% against Humanoids
20% against Bugs
20% against Plants
0% against Bosses
40% against Everything Else
When an enemy is classified as more than one of these category, it uses the
lowest percentage between the categories it applies for.
-=~=-
[Starred Skills are locked on the character's first turn.]
