       I.                Version History

1.0 - August 5, 2009
This is the first complete version. All webs are included.

*******************************************************************
       II.                Introduction
*******************************************************************

The majority of the story in Prototype is told through the cut
scenes that you unlock by working your way through the Web of
Intrigue. Getting all of the Webs as soon as they become available
further explains the story thus far as well as foreshadowing the
missions to come. It is the way Prototype should be played if you
want to get the most out of the story.

Unfortunately, the Web can be confusing, and most people end up only
getting the Webs they happen to come across, thus missing the bulk
of the story. This FAQ, and the maps that accompany it, will make it
easy to find each Web as soon as it becomes available while taking
the fastest path possible through the Web of Intrigue.

I will also point out when each Web based Achievement / Trophy is
unlocked.

*******************************************************************
       III.               Web Basics
*******************************************************************

A. General Information
-----------------------------------

 1. The Web of Intrigue is split into 8 Sequences. Each Sequence has
one or more Webs you acquire during missions and 10-20 Webs you
    acquire in Free Roam.

 2. When each new Sequence becomes available, you will only have
links to one or two of the Webs in that Sequence. Consuming
these Webs will create links to new Webs.

 3. Webs will not spawn until you have created a link to them in the
    Web of Intrigue.

 4. Web Targets do not have a fixed spawn point. There is an 8-10
block area in which they can spawn. The Sequence Maps I posted
at PhotoBucket show the area in which each Web can spawn, making
it much easier to track them down.

 5. Sometimes you will scour the entire area a couple times and
not find a Web, then see it spawn on a block you have already
    checked twice before.

The first Web in Sequence 1 is a good example. Every single
time I have played through Sequence 1, this Web has spawned on
the roof of the little "castle" building in Central Park.
However, he is NEVER there the first time I check. I have to run
away and run back a few times before he spawns. There are no
Infected Areas this early in the game and no infected running
around. Even if there were, they couldn't get up on that roof.
So he definitely isn't being killed before I get to him. He
simply isn't spawning until the second or third time I check
    that same spot.

 6. Webs can roam a wee bit outside the areas that are marked on the
maps. If they definitely aren't spawning inside the area, go
around the outside edge of the area and they may spawn.

 7. Webs can be killed by the Miltary or Infected. (Or you.)
Sometimes, they will appear on the map and immediately
disappear. Other times, they will die right in front of you,
right before you grab them. And then there's the times where
you hit the wrong button and throw them instead of consuming
them... or grab the wrong person, and, trying to drop them,
throw them directly into the Web you were trying to grab in
    the first place...

They usually respawn in the same spot they died, so just keep
running away from and coming back to that spot until they
    respawn.

 8. You can still grab someone after they have been killed. As long
as the body is moving, you can grab it. So if they die right in
front of you, try to grab the body. If you can grab it, you can
consume it and get the Web.

I once threw a Web off a roof by accident and was able to jump
down and grab his corpse before it stopped moving, so you have
plenty of time if you are ready for it and take immediate
    action.

 9. When you have completed all of the Free Roam Webs in a Sequence,
a message will display when you open the Web Menu:

"No Web Targets available. Complete Story Missions to unlock new
    Web Targets"

You must do a few Story Missions to unlock the next Sequence.

B. Types of Webs
-----------------------------------

 1. Mission Webs - These are Webs you consume during missions.
    These Webs cannot be missed.

 2. Free Roam Webs - The majority of the Webs are obtained in Free
Roam. These Webs are completely optional and can easily be
missed. There are two types of Webs in Free Roam: Military and
    Civilian.

   a. Military - These Webs are stationary and will not move except
to come check you out if you cause a disturbance near them.
They spawn on rooftops from time to time, but generally spawn
at ground level. Military Webs are armed and can protect
themselves from the Infected. They are also a lot less likely
to be gunned down by other Military.  They rarely die before
      you can reach them.

   b. Civilian - These Webs will walk around the area in which they
spawn. They do not spawn on roofs, only at ground level. They
are completely helpless and can be killed by the Infected in
a single hit. Also, wherever there are infected, there are
usually Military in Tanks attacking the infected. The Tanks
fire indiscriminately into the crowd killing both the Infected
and the uninfected... including your Web Targets.

Early in the game, this is less of an issue since very little
of the map is infected. Later in the game it can sometimes be
      a pain.

C. Areas
-----------------------------------

There are three types of areas on the map: Uncontested, Military
Controlled and Infected Controlled. There is a different strategy
for collecting Webs in each type of Area.

 1. Uncontested Areas - These are the parts of the map that have no
Military presence and no Infected Presence. Webs in uncontested
areas are by far the best. They will VERY rarely be killed. (I
have heard that they can be run over though I have never seen
    this personally.)

 2. Military Controlled Area - These areas have a large Military
Presence and sometimes have a Base in the center. They are
indicated by a Blue Circle on the map. There will be a little
fighting going on in Military Controlled Areas. Webs can be
killed before you reach them, but it is rare.

 3. Infected Controlled Areas - These areas have a large Infected
presence and sometimes have a Hive in the center. They are
indicated by a Red Circle on the map. Infected Controlled Areas
are handled differently based on whether or not they have a Hive.

   a. Hive - When there is a Hive, it needs to be destroyed before
you try to get the Webs in that area. Destroying the Hive will
kill everything in about a mile radius around the Hive. The
Infected will be cleared out of the area and there will be no
more fighting to worry about. The Webs will spawn outside the
"Circle of Death" you created by blowing up the Hive. (Nothing
will spawn inside that circle until the Hive respawns, which
takes pretty long.) So just keep running away from the
destroyed Hive until you stop seeing dead bodies all over the
ground and start seeing pedestrians again. The Web should
spawn right on top of you. If not, just travel around the edge
of where the live folks are spawning and the Web will spawn.

   b. No Hive - Webs in these areas are by far the worst. Since
there is no Hive, you can't get rid of the Infected. The
entire area will be overrrun by Infected. There will also be
Tanks firing indiscriminately into the crowd. Webs will die
before you can get to them a lot in these areas. It helps if
you run around in a Military disguise hijacking all of the
Tanks. If you are in Military Disguise, you just hop in; you
don't have to tap the Hijack button. You also do not blow your
cover. You can just hop in and hop right back out and that
tank is now out of commission. Eventually no new tanks will
spawn, and you will have a better chance of getting to the
      Web before he dies.

1. 1stLt James Goodwin

You consume this guy during a cut scene and it's isn't obvious that
you even got a Web since it doesn't automatically play. You have to
go into the Web Menu to watch it. You don't have access to the Web
menu until you consume the next Web, though.

       VII.              Special Thanks
*******************************************************************

Special thanks to Radical Entertainment for making this game.

Thanks to Shadowmask72 over at the Activision forums for creating
the amazing interactive map that is posted at msxbox-world.com,
though I used that map more for the Landmarks and Hints than the
Webs. (If that map had names for each Web as well as the order in
which you can get them, it would be absolutely perfect!)

I was unable to track down the authors of the other two maps I used,
thus am unable to properly credit them here. Whoever you are, thank
you!

Thanks to the staff at GameFAQS.
