NASCAR 2005: Chase for the Cup
Thunder License Index
Introduction
============
The purpose of this FAQ is to give you a heads-up on which Thunder Plates will
unlock which things so that you will be able to make informed decisions on
which you'd like to purchase. When I started up the game and went in to buy
some, the first thing I did was try to find a FAQ that identified which each
was so I didn't have to waste time buying some and then resetting. I couldn't
find a list, so I had to do that and at one point I unfortunately had the
autosave on and exited and had to start all over again. So here, for your
convenience, is a list of all the Thunder Plates and what they do so that you
know what you are getting yourself into when you spend your hard earned skill
points.
How this FAQ is organized...
This FAQ is in a list format, broken down by categories. The page number
corresponds directly to the page in the thunder plates menu, while the
separate number (1,2,3,4,5,6) correspond to their placement on that page.

RACEPOLE
========
I have yet to use one of these plates, but I would assume that they are a
free ride for the pole during the season mode. I am unsure as to which modes
in which they can be used, as well as their definite use. If someone can
confirm this for me, I would credit you accordingly.

NEW EVENT
=========
These plates unlock new tracks or situations for use in different game
modes. They are marked here first by the track and then by stipulation.
Night means that it opens up a night race version of that track. Road
means that it opens up the road course that is available at that track.
Also, new tracks like the Old Spice Speedway can be opened up. These
plates are marked afterwards by the series for which they open up, such
as Nextel or Craftsman.

NUDRIVER
========
These plates do just what they say - They unlock new drivers. The
first unlocks Dale Earnhardt, but the others all unlock no name drivers.
The drivers are marked below by their number, sponsor and series.
There really isn't any need to unlock these drivers, unless you're
unlocking the complete set at the end. The complete set unlocks
different drivers than the other plates do, and there must be a good
20 or 30 racers that it unlocks. These racers are confirmed to be
available in the NEXTEL series only -- all other series are unconfirmed.

NU PAINT
========
These are the plates that we're all looking for. Unfortunately,
the "adult" sponsors are not in the game at all. You'd expect maybe
some sort of filter, but no. So the Born-On Date Car... Not here.
Kenseth's Smirnoff Ice car... Not here. Depressing, I know, but we
still have a good deal to choose from, including the GI Joe car and
the Got Milk? car, my favorites. To know what you're buying before
you buy it, go into the car select screen and look at the driver you
want. You can find the paint scheme in there. It'll be shawdowed,
but you can still browse them there before you buy.

SPONSOR
=======
These are for use in the custom car garage. They are the sponsors
that you can earn if you buy your own team in the career mode, but
here they can be used to deck out your own car for use against
your friends.
This one baffles me. Its the first one that I bought because its
name threw me. It is a pit crew team. I believe they can be hired
when you own either a Craftsman truck series, National, or Nextel
series race team. If someone can confirm this for me and how you
go about hiring them, I will credit you accordingly.

PROD CAR
========
A welcomed, but unrealistic addition to NASACAR this year are the
production cars. You first come in contact with them when you load
the game as you have to race Ryan Newman in Vipers. From there on,
as you win races, you'll be challenged by NEXTEL drivers in other
cars, such as Jeff Gordon and the Chevy Corvette. If you defeat them,
you unlock the car, so I would wait on these thunder plates,
especially since they cost 75,000 skill points a piece anyway.

Thanks to the EA staff for making a game that keeps me up till
