This express FAQ is meant for the Kulve Taroth limited time siege.

This guide will tell you:

-Tips for killing.
-Tips for killing solo. (Currently not recommended)
-What pursuit and research levels mean and what they do.
-A little bit on the animal life you can capture.
-You can get gems from the shiny things that fall off her, rarely.
-How not be a dick, leech, or scumbag in the NEW! Team Player section

This guide won't tell you:

-How to play the game

Kulve Taroth is a HUGE Elder dragon, about the same size as the final boss,
but acts like a classic large elder dragon at the start. Basically she
hardly even knows you exist. the later 3 quarters is an actual fight,
but each phase as a time limit.

It's gimmick is that you "need" 4 teams of 4 in the gathering hall, but
YOU CAN SOLO HER! I recommend reading ALL the sections of this guide to
figure out WHAT YOU NEED, WHAT YOU CAN DO, AND WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING!

It's also a limited time quest, that you probably missed the first time
around (and I have no clue when it will return). However, you can still
use the weapon section to see if there is something you actually might
need in the future. (She comes back about once a month for a week)

While writing this guide, you can use these tips to solo the creature,
but if you aren't solo, you can use these tactics to be the hero and
make things go even smoother. In that sense, I realized this guide might
sound like a "Carry" guide, which is the goal if you have randoms.

I Recommend only doing a solo run at Pursuit level 6, otherwise it'll
take you too long. Even pursuit 5 (furied) is super hard and rolling
the dice. (As in if you fail, and there are other teams out, your at
risk)

~What's New?
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

This is a quick run down for what has changed from the new AT Kulve compared
to the old regular one.

+Does more damage
+Does her fire jet spit usually twice in a row (this is actually good)
+Moves faster in phase one at pursuit 3 (opposed to 5)
+Bombs do even more damage 450 (from 360)
+Rocks too at 26XX from 1500
+Takes more pods to down her while she stands up
+"Leaving the Locale" message happen crazy fast
+Changed values of some research (Arms 90 to 70, chest 60 to 50, and tail
120 to 200!!!!!)
+She's a even GOLDER!
+Added 6-7 new weapons per type (all with crit element or status)
+Gakalajas seem more aggresive
+It's very hard to proc a 2nd status, like sleep
+Pursuit 3 HP feels like the old Pursuit 1
+Does tail sweep move more often
+Dramtically changed rewards (will explain new platinum boxes below)

She can get "Furied" now, worth 100 research points and 2 bonus platinum
(or 4 if some current unknown conditions are met). These boxes almost
always contain Rarity 8's.

While RNG can still screw you, these new platinum boxes always spawn an
"incandecent" weapon which usually have new golden rares!

You fury her by breaking 15 chunks of gold off her before phase 4, you'll
get a message from the admiral saying something like "Ok that's enough
gold for today and focus on the horns" when you do. Either way, she furies
at the time she does her huge fire breath to which the serious handler
starts freaking about falling gold... if you fury her, you'll get the
message.

~Pursuit Level
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

The pursuit level starts at 1, and will increase to 6.

Basically, the higher your pursuit level, the EASIER it will be to break
her stuff off (very high priority) and the LONGER she'll chill around. Also
at pursuit level 2, you get princess KT on your radar.

To increase the pursuit level, you'll want to break things, play Blue's
Clues (picking up her blue prints), pick up the gold chunks, and even
the Shineys.

So got that? Just do stuff that would give research points on a regular
monster.

The points are retro actively added at the end of the hunt, so if you
are on a pursuit 5, you can pick up a few paws and it'll most likely
be at six afterwards.

If you are solo, or a solo group, you pretty much need to do a couple runs
to get your pursuit level up.

Pursuit level gets reset after she gets repelled... EVEN IF IT WASN'T YOU
or YOUR GROUP who did it! Remember this, as if you think you'll just give
it another go, the hunt might end and you'll miss out on 4 carves at the
end, and a potential gem from potentially breaking her tail.

You'll need to figure out when to deploy... if you see 3 groups at pursuit
level 1, and they are 10+ minutes in, if you deploy, you'll be at pursuit
level 1, and while the others jump back in at pursuit levels 3+ and miss
your carves as mentioned above (if they knock the horns off). With the
new AT update, you'll also lose 2 to 6 platinum boxes if you fail now!

It also helps to have a good party. It's almost unfair, me, another GameFAQs
board member, his friend, and some random Japanese dude with a charge ax got
the "repel" like 5 times in a row before we quit. Other times? I'd go in
with the 3 man team, and we'd never (obviously) get the repel first.

You CAN repel her at Pursuit level 1, if you want tips on that, read the
sections I have down farther, and apply it to an actual group (helps to
have mics and speak all the same languages). Pay attention to the tips
relating to free hits... sleep/para/mounts as it's pretty much needed.

However, something I even tell my friends, is that the people that
are good enough to repel her, usually don't on pursuit one... it not
only screws over the lobby, it's just super tedious to get her furied
and break her tail for the 17 research level.

I originally thought it might be effective (but boring) to just go into
a pursuit 1, just pick stuff up without even attacking her, then some
one on GameFAQs posts about how Japanese folks will do just this...
all together using the 3rd level of that skill that makes small
enemies avoid you (gakalaka)! While this can be effective, it's also
boring... and everyone needs to do it... this is the new thing to do,
before she was AT, it was leaving at phase 3-4... but many believe the
new "single seige run" thing gets voided by leaving... so that's not
a thing. (I'd give him credit, but I don't suggest doing this)

***I recently tried the above, and only got about 140ish pursuit points,
and the you'd need 162.5 points average in a 16 person room to make this
shine {(325+325+650+650+650)/16}. This is also crap if the lobby's
other teams aren't picking up tracks... best thing I like to do is
this:

Try to get to phase 3, and when she gets to phase 4, just head back
to camp, dump all my items in the chest, and start gathering. I
usually get 400+, which is more than 4x the amount I seen ENTIRE teams
come back with. Depending on the team you are with, this might be
a good idea in pursuit 2 as well, even 3 if you are understaffed.
(Though at 3, I'd try to break the tail)

***Even if you think it's cool to win at pursuit level 1, it screws over
the lobby.

***Getting her furied in a pursuit 1 hunt is also extremely hard, so most
people just gather once she hits phase 4... opposed to the old abort.

It takes roughly 2600 points pursuit 6 (the max), her tracks and
scattered gold chips both add 10. Gold nuggets and Gold Scales each
give 5 points (the nuggets are from the gakalaja AFTER they bathe in
gold) and the gold chip fragments carried by those little bugs give 2.

Lastly, if you do want to solo the game, MAKE SURE YOU ARE OFFLINE. You can
do this by putting your PS4 (Wait, you have this on another system... why?)
in rest mode. This will disconnect you ASAP (and a neat way to pause the
game, like the old school PSP versions). Otherwise, if you are online, and
disconnect or rest, it will restart your seige.

[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
~Research Level
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

Research is just like pursuit, in the sense it will ADD UP EVERYONE'S
progress, and will reset once ANY party repels her. Unlike in the regular
Kulve Taroth fight, this isn't as important as before, but still can
give you an extra platinum box for a research level 17.

With the new update, you do pretty much want to break the tail at the
end, they increased the points for it and made some parts worth less.
In the past versions, you only needed to get her to research 14 to
get the 3 gold boxes, so the tail is vital.

You can hit the menu, scroll right 2 or 3 times and you'll see a
"Special Assignment" tab added, this will let you know what needs to
be broken. Please note, these refer to YOUR items. You get partial points
if the other groups break things... BUT it isn't a race, if you break
it even after it tells you another team did, you get full points.
Remember this if you get the memo that another team breaks the horns
completely off... as it will be your last run.

Remember, if you break anything on her, like her tail, it will be there
again on your next hunt (assuming no one broke her horns off completely)
but it will still count... UNTIL THE SEIGE IS OVER! A good team,
can pretty much break everything on pursuit level 1. You'll want to
utilize getting her hot or even using status effects*

***As long as you aren't aiming for a low pursuit repel

She also likes to dip in the ground and replenish all her lost
armor. This can be annoying if you have a hard time remembering
what you broke (hint the Special Assignment Tab), but will let
you get so many free hits on her, that at pursuit 5/6, you can
usually melt off a couple parts as she immediately comes back
up with power moves.

Part breaker should be used... if you are using any cookie cutter
DPS gear, you can pretty much replace weakness exploit with
part breaker before she sheds the mantle.

Here is a list of the points you get (the number in here are the
partial points you get if you end the hunt without your group
destroying a part BUT another group did)

And here are some tips:

-Break The Horn Gold off
Unlike in the earlier version of Kulve Taroth, you won't be breaking
these for the carves (Unless you are new and need them). I highly
recommend going for these in pursuit 1 and only these... Why?

First it's badass done solo like the below vid, but you won't have
to worry about them when breaks count... on your pursuit 3+ runs.
See, when you try to fury her before release, you want don't want
to over damage her... horns cause this in two ways you may not
think about:

1. The horn gold doesn't break off while she's downed from a rock,
so it's usually wasted damage after your 3rd drop (this is why you
should always slinger pod her after she gets up).

2. You are going to run into a nub who doesn't understand how the
fight works, and he'll attack the horns non-stop after they
chip (wasting damage/making harder to fury), so you'll want to
delay this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL0vjv40ISA&t=58s

(Updated vid, shows me solo, waiting under rocks with not even topped
out gear to, chipping the gold off her horns, So there is room for
improvement, and I'm sure Hammers and Great Swords could wreck my damage.
This means you should be able to do this every time. I do suspect
that it's MORE IMPORTANT to hit her in the head with the rock, than
attacking it [I do both incase I miss a follow up or wasn't sure if
the rock did actual horn damage]).

Ok Ok, so basically all you need to do is knock 3 rocks on her head. It
may take her time to make it to some of them, but wait it out, I never had
her run away before getting all of them. (there is also 4 rocks)

It's best to get to her ASAP, might be difficult if you don't know where
she is (so on this first run, make sure you collect stuff to get to pursuit
level 2). This means: Having a slinger ammo and not even touching the
ground. Yes, the ground, when you jump off the start, you should be
latching on the Wedge Bettle ASAP to the left. You can even chain to
another bettle to get to the gap faster.

She's usually to the right of that, after you hop off that platform you can
wedge to. If she's not, don't worry, she comes back around. Now the rocks,
they really don't hang like most traps in this game, they are more like
jumbles of rocks forming an arch... they do drop a grey/white debris, so
look for that. Aim for the middle, sometimes your pod will get caught on
the edges of non-falling rocks.

Now simply wait till she waddles underneath it, and then pop it.

2 things to look out for:

1. If you see the rock close to the breakable wall she can shoulder check,
DO NOT SHOOT THE ROCK! If she is in the shoudler check animation, you'll do
a ton of damage, but she won't fall over. If she starts closer to the
middle, she'll usually shoulder check. This video shows the other run.

2. She usually doesn't let you break her horn gold if she is still down, so
if you hit her ALL three times with rocks in a pursuit level 1, pick up
some crystal bursts and use them, you'll often break the horn gold off
with a single shot! This is more profound in later pursuit levels, where
I'd down her, and 100% of the time would break off the gold with a single
slinger shot.  (Do this after each time she gets back up)

Lastly, if you fail to knock her gold off in phase 1, and really don't
have a great weapon for her head, load up on dragon pods/bursts, and once
they are gone, try to lure her to the edge of the raised section and go for
head shots/mounts. Move side to side as her fire will still hit you, and
it's fast.

***Since the last update, Luna/Xeno weapons have been popular... and
blast, like all expolsives, does double damage to her horns.

This is actually easier solo, as in phase 1, if the randoms are
attacking her too much, she'll start to book to phase 2, and you
may miss some rocks.

Use the affinity booster to speed up the initinal horn gold chip. You
may of forgot about it with weakness exploit, but it helps here...
especially if you use a master's touch set. Make sure you peg her
with a crystal burst after each time she gets up.

Since this is the AT version (and time is an issue)  I'd suggest
avoiding carving unless you need to.

-Chip her Horns
Chipping her horns means "Stop attacking her horns!" See, damage
to her horns transfers over to phase 4... BUT ONLY TILL THE CHIP! So
any farther attack will actually be wasted and can prevent furying!

If you plan on doing a low pursuit run, this is absolutely important,
but on a pursuit 5/6? I wouldn't worry about this over her mantle parts
till you get the message from the Admiral saying that's enough gold for
today and focus on her horns.

I only ever target her horns pre chip (and after gold loss) if someone
downs her from the holes in phase 1 and everything is already broken.

-Break the Horns off completely
This is how you end the mission, I'll get more into this in later sections
as she doesn't die, she gets repelled.

-Break Her Tail
Kulve's tail doesn't sever, but a break can give you a chance at a gem drop.
The crap part? Her tail takes A LOT TO KILL, and on pursuit level 1, it's
highly recommended that everyone either helps you break it, or you ignore
it for the kill. And as "ignore", I mean ignore phase 4 all together.

If you get her to pursuit 3/4 (and definitely pursuit 5/6), this isn't hard
at all. Just remember, you can ONLY attack her tail when she is released.

The tail isn't hard to do full combos on, you'll want to when she pukes
lava everywhere. Sometimes it will get stuck in the ground... sucks... In
fact, I don't even go to her tail till after she gets furied while in
phase 4, as it's that long puke... and you need something to do!

If you release her in phase 2, and need to fight her is phase 3, I'd
focus only on the tail. If you break it here, the final part will
be less stressful.

***As of now, there are a quite a few randoms who will place bombs
at the tail if she sleeps.

-Release Her
This refers to getting her naked. You just need to keep doing damage to
her. Bad part? Whatever part of her coat you where attacking, in hopes
of a break, will vanish and be locked out of.

If you release her in phase 3, she'll do an attack, roar, then leave.
However, if you release her in phase 2, you'll get to fight her naked
in phase 3. You can use this time to break her tail if you get her there!
(A single rock drop will do on pursuit 6).

-Break Her forelegs
Both can be broken, and you'll need to for a good research level. The
problem? With her tail, this can take a lot of time on lower pursuit
levels, especially if solo... to where I recommend only going for them
at a high pursuit level. If your team has trouble getting to phase 3
in pursuit 1, hitting these will most likely be a waste unless she is
repeatly knocked down and molten. In Phase 3, rocks make it easy.

Personally, I target them ASAP the second she gets "heated" up, and usually
the only thing I actually look at pre-hunt in the research area (that tells
you what has been or what hasn't been broken yet) only because they take
so long, compared to everything else, to break.

If you are stuck between her foreleg and more medial tail segment (the
jut out section I label below) go for that forearm, and never let up.
Trust me, breaking these mean something. I'll call you a hero if you
get one killed during phase 1. Naturally this tip is for phase 1, and
when you will get stuck.

I'm not 100% sure if better/worse/same if hit the foreleg compared to
hitting the orange chunk, but I always do any ways, as should you.

If you are using a master's touch set and going for speed, you should
be aiming for the front of these legs as they are a weak point along
with the chest... however, this will most likely waste damage and
prevent you from getting the Fury.

-Break her Boobies
Yes, she has two giant gold bra cups. These take less damage to break
than the arms, but you'll often hit other parts of her, so a little
concentration is needed.

Outside of sleeping, I consider the only time to bomb her is if she isn't
heated, and at her boobs, IN PHASE 2. This will likely break them straight
out and motlen her up. Moltening her in phase 1 can be wasteful as she'll
move fast and un-moltens pretty fast once she's waiting in phase 2.

While I'm not sure if it's better to hit her sternum with a (fire) weapon
to molten her up opposed to the actual boobs, I do know is when I break
both boobs, she's usually motlens. Just like the arms above, if you
are going for a speed run (ie not worried about rewards) the sternum
is the other weak point you can hit before moltening her and knocking
gold off her horns.

-Break Her tail

 |
\ <--Here, you'll see a jut out (Games calls these "Hind Legs")
  /
 /
/ <--Here, the middle tail section is best
/
(Tip or end of tail)

Like my tail diagram? There are four things to break here, two on each side
as listed. They are easy if everyone helps, annoying solo. Try to see which
tail parts you need before a mission... in later pursuit levels, you can
kill these pretty fast.

Sometimes you get ranged teammates that will destroy these things super
fast... then there are sometimes no one goes for them. If no one is, you
may need to focus on the tip of the tail the next round. The hind legs,
don't worry about, they will break.

A new trend I'd like to perfect is purposely "bad aiming" the rock drops
to hit the tail... I know in a specific phase 1 start, she lines up
perfectly at the beginning to break her right tail tip.

-Getting to Pursuit level 2, 4, & 6

Self explanitory. If you deploy on pursuit 4* with a decent group, decent,
or even randoms that didn't die, you should aim to just kill it('s horns
away).

*Changed from 3, with randoms, I'd suggest trying to get to pursuit 4.

-Getting to Phase 2, 3, and 4

These will all automatically happen if you repel her, and only really
serves a purpose to give you extra rewards if you quit, but made it to
the final phase, for example.

How to tell left from right. Get on the side of her and look to her head.
Now see she how she lays on her belly? Look at her arms... now imagine
you are on your belly, like her... which hand is your right hand?

-Single Run Siege Completion
Some people speculate these can't have any failures due to fainting,
that's not true. This refers to starting at pursuit 1 and ending your
hunt with a horn break/repel.

I believe they put this in here to deter seige hopping. This is also why
you might see people not disban a pursuit 1 join in party when the game
tells you the pursuit increase.

-Breaking Giant Horns While Furied
You need to fury her, do this be breaking about 15 gold parts off her body
before phase 4, the admiral will give you speech if you did before that by
saying something like "Ok that's enough gold for today and focus on the
horns."

You "randomly" get 4 boxes instead of 2, I say randomly because no one I
know knows the conditions.

[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]
~Fighting the Kulve Taroth
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

You get a free farcaster in the chest, if you want to combo strat (my tip
is one person switch to the insect glaive for a mount in phase 4, or a
common thing, change elements, she's weak to thunder with the gold armor
on, once released, she's weak to ice) do so.

***Upon this new AT update, I'd HIGHLY recommend fire weapons for phase 1
and 2, and switching before 3.

Before moving on, important things:

1. She moves phase to phase by doing damage to her, thus you can usually
ignore her horns after you break the gold off them, to maximize breaking
parts before she loses everything.

2. DO NOT. I repeat... DO NOT Mount her, para her, sleep her, or even
poison her in Phase 1, 2, or 3. This is because when it matters, in Phase
4, it'll be easier. See, her horns are the only way to end the fight, so
this is when you want to maximize downs when going for the horn break off.

The way status effects work, is that once you hit them with something,
it takes more to do it again... now since she's pretty big, you probably
won't get more than one of anything.

Of course, this doesn't matter if you do not intent to repel her on
an early pursuit.

3. The daggers the kitty cats drop when killed, you can mix them with
items found all around (yea, that's why they give out sleep herbs around
the map) to make daggers. It takes five daggers of one type to get the
effect, which is the max you can carry. Before going into the final
phase, you can do a knife check... don't have two people mix 4 different
daggers a piece... make the same unless you have 5. Either way, the
para and sleep are worth it, you basically need 3 knife drops to do
this in a full group.

Crystal bursts not only kill these annoying cats in a single hit, it
can hit the usual 4 of them at once!

4. DO NOT BOMB THE FACE OUTSIDE OF SLEEPING IN ANY PHASE! If you knock me
out of doing a 1000+ easy damage helm breaker to get in a 450 bomb... you
are not only losing 550 damage from me, but damage you and the other could
of easily out did if you didn't blast away!

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
~Prep
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

+Demon Drinks and Armorskin
They take a bitterbug/honey and their respected seeds. Easy to make. Rule
of thumb? No know cares how good you are, you'll kill faster with higher
attack and die less with higher defense. In fact, anything 9 stars, I
hate not seeing at least a sword symbol... like sick to my stomach hate.

This is an AT Hunt, this is mandatory at this point.

+2 Mega Barrel Bombs (and materials to make 2/4 more)
While you still should only bomb her when she is sleeping, if the rare
event arises (in phase 2, she's not molten, and your weapon isn't fire)
you can use the extra ones on her chest if she's down to speed up the
process.

+Eat or Carry an ancient Potion or Carry Max Potion + Meat
Again, no one cares how good you are, don't be the scrub who screws up a
20 minute hunt because you tried to be badass or forgot to eat.

+Vit3
If you are one of those people that like to die a lot, use this with
eating. As long as you can superman dive her puke, you shouldn't
die to anything. Unlike the normal KT, Vit 3 is practically a
requirement, and I don't even give second chances to those without it.

Steadfast isn't really that needed... the time it takes you to heal
after some of the big hits should cool you down a bit.

+Augment
This is an AT fight, if you aren't fully augmented, you are probably
just going to be a liability and ruin someone's hunt. If someone is
below Hunter Rank 50, it's safe to say they aren't augmented, kick
them and tell them to gg :D

+Stuff to mix with daggers
This prevents making Z-lines and saves time. Remember, the Gakalaka drop
naked daggers you can combine to put some status on her.

+Tools:
You are either going to be a tryhard, and use a combo of Rocksteady,
temporal, vitality, or fire... or pro with affinity, GLIDER, or evasion.

Use affinity boost for phase 1 knock downs to compensate not having
a weakness to exploit. The glider is also nice for phase 1 (or phase 4
mounts) to get used to the area or quick spotting (use beetles).

I recently stopping using the rocksteady and temporal mantles... the
game has become so much fun again!

I also perma use evasion and the new assassin's cloak, which can help
on track collecting and getting to her face in phase 4.

+Mega Potions
Bring 10. If you think you'll need more? Bring 10 potions, 10 herbs, and
10 honey! Seriously, I'd rather you bring a ton of health, than die. If
you are bad (and I'm not trying to make fun of you), you might want to
think about taking extra max potions and the junk to make more... if you
set it up to the radial menu, it will auto craft them if you try to use
them and you are out.

+Life/Might/Armor Powders
Life for when someone is knocked down in fire (this can prevent a
cart for sure).

The other two, I like to use at the start of phase 4.

+A weapon? (Important for *phase 4*, remember the Farcaster)

Fire makes her heat up faster.
Lightning does more damage with her gold on.
Ice does more damage when she is naked.

I do fire then physical, depends on what weapon you use.

+Part Breaker
Just remember this does NO extra damage to the Horns in Phase 4

+Fire Resist
For all your Dracan melee users who get destroyed by her fire puke, you
can equip Teo's gamma set (Kaiser Head/Arms/Legs) with the Kulve B Chest
and Kulve Y waist. This requires 3 more addition fire resist to stop the
fire blight... but the defense boost alone should make this fight MUCH
easier.

This set will give you max critical eye, which is very good for the mantle
breaking parts of the fight.

~Finding a Room/Being a Team Player
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

This section I always forget to add, but need to as there are A LOT of
folks who just don't know what they are doing.

First things first: Filter Kuvle Taroth. It's best to try to find a room
with 11 or more people. Enter the room and immediately open up the player
list.

How many people are below HR 50? 30?
How many people are in expeditions? SOS's? Other quests?*
How many people are away?

*you can find out who's in other quests by going to join quest instead of
the seige options.

If too many of these are going on, you have 3 choices:

1. Talk to the room leader, see if they can kick them as this not only
limits the amount of research/pursuit gains, it will also screw over the
4th, or possibly more teams.

2. In the event you have a casual or nub host, you can find another game.

3. If all rooms suck, host your own, put the note "experts needed", and
then kick all the folks above. Don't be mean, as this game's flawed filter
system lets folks who just matchmake join in, sometime without even knowing
it's a Kulve Taroth room in the first place! Start doing her solo and
collecting her paws!

Keep this in mind yourself, if you match make, and see folks starting up
KT hunts, please leave or help them.

As such, avoid doing the things I just mentioned... be above 50 for
augments, and try to have the best weapon for the job... this fight
requires damage. Don't go away from the game too long, or do any other
hunts besides Kulve... this will take up the spot of someone who might
actually need help, and that will actually help the other 14 people in
the lobby.

You may think you can squeeze in a hunt (I know I can), but you might
get people like me and his crew join, who will immediately leave if they
see folks in other things... we don't know, and why would you want to
change it? Most people WANT to grind her, and want solid teams, not guess
if they will be carrying someone who's not even picking up prints.

Which brings me to prints, pick them up. Even the girl I played with called
out some low level who was just walking by them. This can be a problem, as
sometimes you are waiting for a team to come back, and the whole lot brings
back less than 200. This is a waste, and these people are getting carried.

Cannons, it's a big no no to just break rock barriers. This often leads
to her avoiding paths with rock drops. Why is this bad? If me and 2 others
are waiting under a rock for a 100% drop, and she boggies away... yea
all that wasted time.

Rocks, in pursuit 6, try to limit rocks, try one for the head once, and
then tail. If she is booking to the next area, and you hit her with a rock
it mostly will hit her hump (which will break nothing) and not knock her
down. Basically, I've missed 2 furies on a pursuit 6 with a mic'd up
group... after reviewing the videos, it was obivously due to her being
released too soon from all the extra damage we did with rocks.

Bombs, next bomb her around players when her horn gold is off, this usually
never does more damage than letting everyone attack it without blasting
away.

Don't be a leech. A Sword and shielder that only heals or a hammer guy
playing a horn in the corner... not only does this make her bounce all
over the place, it doesn't do damage... So please, do more damage than
the cat you are taking up.

You can void healer/support groups almost complete if you take the life,
might, and armor powders. I suggest putting life powder on the radial (I
use the down spot) and carrying godbugs and blue mushrooms to make more.

Speaking of the radial menu, I put the signal on the top spot, use this
to convince folks to move to rocks in phase 3 or spot her in phase 1 in
pursuit 1 (which has no radar visual on KT)

Don't die, sounds easy? If you are constantly dying, but you aren't
augmented, using vit 3, and getting one shotted while you are spamming
dual blades like Maxi from Soul Calibur, you should either change your
strategy immediately or expect to get kicked from a host who wants a
fast, effective room.

As much as I'll mock you for wearing things like the Temporal mantle by
saying you and Kulve are wearing matching dresses, if you are dying enough
to fail a lot of quests, you obviously need it (and obviously shouldn't
even be doing this hunt in the first place).

If you need gems from her horn gold, please do this solo.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wL0vjv40ISA&t=58s

This is the video I posted above, and is very easy (but time consuming) to
get the 6 gems you could ever possibly need. The fight, especially in the
lower pursuits, demand your time be spend either collecting paws or keeping
lots of damage on her... this can make a huge difference.

As above, it's also a bad idea to gather, so avoid the top area unless you
are trying to get her to leave on a lower pursuit. The top does have 3 of
those mushrooms that make max potions, just a tip.

Avoid constant trips to your farm/room/bounties/argosy, try to space them
out to time when you and a bunch of people are waiting for team to come
back.

Avoid going into high level pursuit runs starting with weapons that have
sleep or paralysis. If you are a glaive user, also don't spend time in
the air 24/7, this isn't great damage wise, and you'll mount her fast.

If you desperately need breaks, or on a lower pursuit, try to wait till
all teammates are close to you before you put her to sleep or knock her
down with a rock in phase 3. (The exception to this is if it's pursuit
5 or 6, and she's revealed in phase 2, then naked in phase 3, you can
rush down there before everyone to break her tail... she's easy to "rock"
when alone... lure her to the rock, and let her attack, look at the rock,
and place it between you and her, she will ALWAYS turn to you before
attacking again, and this is when you drop the rock, I can do this now
without even looking at her).

Flitching is legit, use Flinch Free if you hate it.

If you see someone trying to join your party in the lobby, wait for
them to deploy with you, instead of being a dick and making them
rejoin. Why? You know how you can skip the starting cut scene? If
someone is joining mid way, you can't.

And most importantly, don't be the nub who constantly attacks the horns
after they are chipped, you are asking to be kicked.

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
~Phase 1
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

First, scroll back up and read the Horn Gold part of the Research section,
try for that. If you are with randoms, you be the one who waits for rocks
to hit her face and smash her up. Let them attack her other gold parts.

If someone is doing cannons (which I wouldn't touch after the first
one that's right in front of her) then I'd go for the tails/chest and
not even bother as this person will likely screw up the path she takes.
(Basically you'll waste time standing under a rock she'll never get to)

She basically starts in the back, or in the middle. If you start breaking
barriers, she can alter course.

Remember, there are 4 rocks, there is no reason to ever screw up this
phase up and that once you hit pursuit 3+, she will move even faster to
the phase 2 (Faster to the rocks, faster damage, less hp, etc)

Between this phase and the next, is prime time to gather pursuit points
by picking up blue ram-lizard paws, or to gather on the top floor *ONLY*
if you are in a low pursuit and going for that 8 minute fight where
she just leaves.

If you start a low pursuit, especailly under staffed, and there are
other teams about to finish up, 8 minutes can be much better than the
9 and half it takes if you touch her to make she go to phase 2. This
wouldn't be a problem if there wasn't a single seige run bonus, so
try to get in a pursuit 1 at least!

See, lets also say that you hurry in a pursuit 1, and there are teams 8
minutes in... they return before phase 3... lets say you actually make
it all the way to phase 4 and fail due to time... that taks about 18
minutes. The other team can go in on there next hunt, and easily repel
her before that 18 minutes because they were on a lower pursuit.

There is a neat little trio of wedge bettles that lead to a cannon. This
cannon is located towards the enterance of phase 2... and it is perfectly
aimed for right when she may exit a hole.

***While I don't care about the cannons, there should two pointing
close to the two holes she pops out of... you are just going to have to
remember where they are... knock downs here generally wasted as not some
of her parts will be underground.

You shouldn't die here, ever. If you do, please delete your file.

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
~Phase 2
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

Your goal here is the get her heated (much easier in a group), so break
her boobs! I suggest trying to ignore the tail (especially if it isn't
heated) in this part, and go for it in phase 3 where there is rocks. (This
is it's a lower pursuit)

The breast is easy to hit, and with no free-hit-overhead-rocks, it's a
prime time to wail on it till she turns molten. Once she is molten, attack
other parts on her once they break.

You will see her do some new moves which mostly are:

Claw Swipe: Aim for her armpit. Long start up, but fast, not really
a threat.

Body Press: Large start up, she lifts up. Easy to see, easy to avoid, and
a great time to hit really anywhere on her you want! You can shoot a
dragon pod at her stomach at this point... and she's fall down! (May
need to have that area broken first)

Fire Projectile: Goes along the ground at a VERY fast and her strongest
one hit move. It's hitbox is generous enough to not hit you if you
are just walking parallel to her. Always be aware of this, I've seen
people compare this to 180 no scope lol. Just make sure you are
always moving sideways if you see her turn towards you fast.

This often gets people in the next phase waiting for rocks. The newer
AT KT will do this twice in a row for the most part, so if it does
it you, STAY ON THE GROUND!

Sometimes she's be aiming at someone else, and will hit you when
you are running... it's really tough to predict this as normally
running to the side (even with a potion) is enough to avoid this.

Fat Skank Roll: You'll know it when you see it. Super man dive it
if you have no block or i-frame enhanced dodge. The hit boxes on
this move are still terrible... there will be times she'll go
right over you, and then other times she'll hit you with full
damage after she stops.

Lava Pukes: As with in phase 4, use this time to safely attack her
tail tips without fear of getting burnt by fire. Otherwise be
award she can always do this, and avoid long recovery moves if
she isn't in an attack already.

If you see fire on the ground, and aren't out of it's crazy big range,
sheath, RUN AWAY FROM HER (Not along side her at an angle or w/e BS),
then DODGE. If you did it right, the SuperMan Dive will leave you
alive.

You can superman dive multiple times as well to almost completely
negate the fire damage.

*There are times where her fire will reach you and you are too
far away from her to trigger a superman dive, so be aware.

Tail Sweep: She will use this more often that her non AT version,
it has a long start up, just learn it if you are using style that
relies on perfect guards or dodges.

Lastly she can go under ground, she'll pop back up with all of her
gold replaced... a few things:

1. Breaking these again doesn't recount for research, but does for
furying her.
2. It doesn't appear to repair unbroken sections... it does appear
to be used to make it confusing to keep track of what you broke.
3. You can get full combos on her tail easily when she comes back
up.

Avoid going up to the upper level if you plan on getting and beating the
final phase, as you want to save that easy mount.

If by some reason her horns still have gold on them, the next phase is
easier to knock it off due to the 3 rocks you can use.

If you die here, remember to take the short cut slide between this area and
the 3rd area. Also, don't forget to pick up Gajalaka knives here, you
and her should accidently be killing them all day.

I like to farcast here and changing my gear... on higher pursuits, she is
usually either going to release here or very soon in phase 3... in the
event she does have gold still on her on phase 3, there are 3 rocks and lava
bursts that heat her up just fine.

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
~Phase 3
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

First, grab you that cool shroom, which should be on auto craft. The 3rd
fight is basically the same as the last fight, except:

1. There is a lot of uneven ground, lava, and even eruptions.
2. 3 rocks, this is good, and should be used to break as many things as
you haven't broken already.

Sometimes you can do just enough damage to her in phase 2 to where she
come to phase 3 and immediately lose her gold. This is bad as it will
basically screw you on some free gold hits AND free tail hits.

If she is naked at the start of the fight (you made her lose it in phase 2)
you should focus on her tail.

This part is rarely seen in the AT fight... most random teams struggle to
get to phase 3 in pursuit 1 (and some players avoid it on purpose), and on
higher pursuits, it's either skipped or like phase 4 without the pressure.

{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}
~Phase 4
{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}{}

In the fourth phase, she's a bit faster too.

If you are trying the cut a tail? Fire puke is what you want. Moves:

Charge: She has a charge. Remember the start up, as she'll pretty much
always clear the room, then do a 180 turn... PERFECT PLACE FOR ANY WEAPON
to make a hit. Please capitalizeon this.

Triple Head Pound: Another great oppurtunity is after she will pound her
head into the ground three times... even if you get hit by the first hit,
you can usually get in a counter. Left Right Left.

Naked Tail Sweep: It's got big sweeping range. If you are cutting
the tail, please know how to foresight, i-frame, or otherwise avoid it.
Time it a little bit slower opposed to the mantle'd tail wack... it's
smaller so it hits you later.

Quick Bite: The only thing this attack does is punish those who get
up asap and start chugging a potion... as this will prevent you from
superman diving. Tip? If she knocks you down, and you see this attack,
run away a little, so you can chose to superman instead of dying.

Side Press: She retains her regular press, and an additional side
one... this one is annoying because you might think she's getting
up on her hind legs to fire puke... the good news is it doesn't do
as much damage as you'd think and is easy to recover from.

Of course, the insect glaive is king here. There is never a time you
can't hit her... plus the less amount of other ranged or weapons with
range users you have, the more you'll need a mount. Which brings me to
another point, you want to do all your scumbag dagger/bomb crap here.

Even if you are with all stuborn people, as long as you are talking to
each other, a sleepbomb party with daggers (or a sleep weapon), a para,
and maybe a good knockdown (hint mount) you can win.

The more ranged players at the end means less you need to worry about
crap like daggers.

You need to figure out what everyone is doing, and you need you figure
out fast. Once you approach the end, figure out if you are with nubs
who need to be carried. Have no ranged? Maybe grab a glaive and be a
hero. Remember, some people you'll play with next season, won't even
know crap about her... Hey, I didn't know everything the first day
either!

Remember, this is only super important on a lower pursuit run, on a
pursuit 5 or 6 (which you should be aiming for) you can casually attack
with any weapon after she leaves herself open.

Whatever happens, you can get a few chip hits after a few of her attacks,
but you really need to capitalize on the charge-180 turn and the 3x
head pound. Save the tail cutting for when she does the puke, it should
happen enough times. Play reactive... and you'll soon be taking move
damage from the falling lava than her.

ALWAYS ALWAYS be prepared to superman dive MULTI times to avoid the fire
puke.

If you manage to get her furied, she will be nearly one shotting you (at
200hp) with every big attack. If you broke about 15 gold parts during the
first 3 phases, she'll enrage the same time the serious handler starts
getting scared about the falling gold lava chunks. (The admiral says
that's enough gold and time to attack the horns to let you know during the
mission prior that you incited her.)

She's gains two new moves, both leave her open.

Behemoth Fist Slam: Looks similar to the behemoth's arm slam, while it's
SUPER STRONG, it's super slow, super telegraphed, and super easy to damage
her afterwards.

Spinny Puke: She will start puking and turning at the same time, the safe
spot her is actually her stomach, and you can get in horn and tail hits
if you want.

Make sure you collect your rewards by talking to the girl who gave you
the quest!

Getting your research level to 15 to 17 is your best bet for getting a
bunch of new weapons and bushi tickets. Weapons are below, Bushi tickets
can be used for deliveries for armor overlays, you needed 39 to get them
all. They grant a samurai attire in two colors, and required non gem things
from some elder dragons.

You also want to get as many platinum boxes as well to maximize GOOD
rewards, by inciting her and completely the run from pursuit 1 (explained
better in the reseach section of this guide).

You can also get some drops from Kulve Taroth in the boxes, but I never
got anything I didn't have probably hundreds of (or at least a crazy
amount I'll never use) so don't worry about that.

*If you have any progress in research levels, and you disconnect, or
straight up rage quit, you will still get rewards based on where you
were at.

**The weapons list is not all my work, Asuka Kazama from the GameFAQs.com
message board pointed me to a commonly known spreadsheet. Weapons are in
order as they appear in the hunter notes section. If you want to double
check it, create a user on GameFAQs.com, and search "Kulve Taroth Weapons"
I have a topic on their message board made with the spreadsheet's link.

***Weapons are basically re-(gold)skinned weapons that already exist, and
have different stats.

****I didn't go all out with sharpness, I'll tell if the weapon is all
blue (like nergi weapons), can get White (with Handi-craft), or if the
weapon already has white sharpness. Newer weapons displaying "has Handi
room" means I only seen a screen shot of the weapon without any handi-
craft on it.

*****Weapons are sorted by rank, "free DLC" adds always added last.

******The monster name next to the weapon name is what it will look like.

*******I will verify all the weapons once I have all of them... if I get
      all of them.

This is what you spend your Bushi tickets on. Unlike all the other
layer armor sets, these need to be bought in pieces at the the delivery
area (near the very bottom of Astera, bounty trio).

These are basically samarui armors.

~Wildlife
[][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][]

There are six new wildlife things to catch. Good news, besides the bats
nothing is too fast to were you need to sneak or carry the Ghillie.

I HIGHLY recommend doing these solo... there just isn't that much time to
do these in an actual hunt and not screw over your team.

1. Bat: catch this as soon as the round starts. Easier in the slide
short cut tunnel.

2. Little Crab Thing: Found around most gold chunks, almost impossible
to miss.

3. Golden Horseshoe crap: Right before the second phase is a bunch.

4. Big Crab Thing: After Tulve Karoth burrows in phase 1, there is a slim
chance this will just jump out after she goes all in.

5. Shiny Gold Horsecrap: Found in randomly, and rarely in most sunlight
spots. I heard people finding them up the 3rd and 2nd level of phase one,
I found mind at the start of phase 2, well in the arena, use the beetles
to get up there. The last beetle needed is in a scumbag location, so
look up. Up here, at the far end (will be to the right end of the plateu
if viewed from the middle). Look in the sunlight.

6. Tsingkiginrhgfgtgfwhatever: Rarely found in random places, I think.
I found two, I accidently crystal bursted my first one I found, it was
somewhere on the 3rd level. The 3rd level can be gotten to in phase 1,
with wedge beetles or a single ivy wall. The lil fat snake I did catch,
was on a lone, more greyish rectangle of land (still raised up), it's
the wedge beetle whose swing looks like you can't make it (fartest). I
believe there is a seed up there, I forget. Either way, wait on the
platform to see if it jumps out.

*Someone I know also found this in the ramp area between phases 2
and 3*

Yea, make sure it's cool with the people you are with, don't be the
randum in the group of randoms. It's not hard to do this solo. Perfect
for if you are gem hunting as that pretty much gets you to the second
phase to check the next Shiny Gold Horseshoe Crap.

*I have heard you can find things elsewhere. I honestly don't care too
much about wildlife to validate this...

2. Delete any headers and keys
3. Shrink the font size
4. Print*

*Depending on the size of text you can read, you should be able to get
everything on up on 1 page by putting the same peice of paper through the
printer.
