2- Introduction
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the Monster Garage. Monster Garage first aired on the Discovery
Channel in late 2002. The premise of the show is that 5 people and Jesse
James are normally given a car or truck of some kind, 7 days, and $3,000
to turn it into a monster capable of doing a task it was not originally
designed for.

If the team can accomplish this, then they receive a set of tools worth
$3,400. There are a few rules though. They can spend no more than the
$3,000 given to them at the start, unless they find money inside the vehicle
or are able to sell scrap parts from the car. This money can be added to the
budget.

When the second season started the budget was upped to $5,000. Also a rule
was implemented that they team could only have 1 freebee. After only a few
episodes the new single freebee rule was scrapped. I believe it was because it
made the mission too hard for the teams to finish.

The host is the one and only Jesse James. Jesse is a direct descendant of the
legendary outlaw Jessie James. He owns his own custom bike shop in Orange
County California called West Coast Choppers. He was selected because 2
previous Discovery Channel specials titled Motorcycle Mania 1 & 2 were huge
hits. The producer of MM 1&2 wanted to create another show with Jessie because
of his attitude and his gift for metal work.

4- General Information
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here are some playing tips.

Try not to waste time. If you have all team members working on a part, don’t
automatically fast forward so the parts are done. Look around and see if
something needs reattaching or installing. You need every second you can in the
Monster Garage.

Measure twice and cut once. What I mean by that is to make sure you are
installing things in the right order. There is nothing worse than getting to
the end of day 6 and finding out you need to remove half of what you installed
just to install a single part. Watch the “How To” video as many times as you
need to.

5- Mission walkthrough
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

You will have to build 7 monster to finish this game. They start off easy and
get progressively harder as the game goes on.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.1- Mission 1: Rock crawler
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

DAY 1:

This will be your very first challenge in the Monster Garage. Take a 1968 Ford
Bronco and turn it into a big bad rock crawler. This whole mission is really
just a tutorial to show you how to play the game. If you are a fast learner,
you can finish the job a day or more ahead of the deadline and have more money
in the bank than when you started.

Option 1: Install some monster coil covers, heavy duty axles all around a
brutal roll cage and a safety fuel cell.

Option 1 Walkthrough

For this build you will need to buy

Raw Material
2x Steel Tube

Parts
4x Monster wheels (Freebie)
2x Sparco Racing Seats (Freebie)
1x Heavy Duty Rear Axle (Freebie)
1x Heavy Duty Front Axle (Freebie)
1x Safety Fuel Cell (Freebie)
4x Heavy Duty Coil Covers

DAY 2:

The first thing you want to do is get your parts ordered. Then place an order
for the tubing. Next you have to start ripping the bronco apart. You can go in
pretty much any order you like. But you will need to remove a lot of stuff.

All the glass (Sell once removed)
Both stock seats (Sell once removed)
The hood (Sell once removed)
Front and rear quarter panels
Flatbed (Sell once removed)
Engine By (Sell once removed)
Rear Door
Stock coil covers (Sell once removed)
Stock wheels (Sell once removed)
Stock front and rear axles (Sell once removed)
Front grill
The roof

When the steel tubing arrives, give it to some builders so they can fashion the
roll cage and new suspension support frame. Also the front grill, front and
rear quarter panels, roof, and rear door will need to be modified by your crew.

As you remove parts, have a crew member modify them. You will need to reduce
the bronco to almost a bare frame before you can weld the modified parts on.

When you break down as much of the body as possible, it’s time to remove the
wheels, axles, and coil covers. Lift the bronco up, remove each wheel 1 by one.
Then remove the axles. Remove the coil covers next. You can sell all of these
parts if you wish. You must do this so the flatbed and engine bay can be
removed. You will probably only have time to remove the axles on this day, just
finish up in the morning.

DAY 3:

As soon as the day starts, a whole mess of parts should come in. The new heavy
duty axles, new coil covers, the safety fuel cell, and both seats should be
what shows up.

Now remove the stock coil covers from the front and back, and then remove the
engine bay and flat bed. You can sell the stock coil covers, flat bed, and
engine bay if you like.

Now you can get down to installing all those modified parts your crew has been
building. Install the modified rear quarter panels first. At some point on day
3 the roll cage will be finished. You will need to install this before you can
mount the safety fuel cell. When you finish with the roll cage, the game should
move onto day 4.

Day 4:

Install the modified front quarter panels along with the modified front grill.
Then install the racing seats and safety fuel cell. Now install the new heavy
duty rear coil covers and heavy duty rear axle.

Then move to the front of the car and install the monster suspension support
frame. Follow up with installing the heavy duty coil covers and the newly
arrived heavy duty front axle.

Then the 4 new monster wheels will arrive. Weld on the modified rear door and
modified roof. Follow up with installing the monster wheels. When you finish
with the wheels, day 5 will begin.

DAY 5:

IF you’ve followed along, you should only have the doors left to install. If
not then don’t panic. You have 2 full days to finish up with what you need.

When you do have everything finished, you will get a message saying so. When
that happens you will need to fast forward to day 7 where you can paint you
monster any way you like. On day 7 you can also pick up some freebies to add to
the car.

Day 6:

Finish installing parts if need be.

Day 7: Paint and customize your monster with logos. You can buy 2 different
cans of NOS for the rock crawler from the shop. You install them you will need
to remove the passenger side seat though. Sadly the NOS doesn’t effect the cars
performance one iota.

When you finish customizing, you will then have to see how your monster
performs. The challenge is to get your monster up hills to 3 check points
within 3 minutes. Practice makes perfect here. Trial and error will probably
get you the best results.

6. Cheats
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are only 2 cheats for the game at this time. While in the garage type
either “flashback” to go back a day or “moneycheat” to get an extra $1,000. To
activate just type either cheat in and then click on the light bulb icon.

8. FAQ
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: Why can’t I finish (X) mission?
A: You probably didn’t remove something or install something that you should
of. It’s a common mistake and can be a costly one. Keep an eye on the check
list to make sure you have all bases covered.

Q: I can’t finish the limo mission. It only goes up to 3% and I run out of time.
A: I had this problem myself. I believe it’s caused by having a slow computer
or video card. I was using a crappy 32mb integrated one before and no matter
what I did I couldn’t get past 3%. After I switched to a new Radeon 9200 128mb
card, I had no problem finishing the mission. I’m sorry but I don’t have a fix
for it at this time other than searching around for a save file with that
mission finished.

Q: Why don’t you update this thing faster?
A: Because I am a busy person. Also I’m playing through each mission over and
over trying to come up with the fastest way to finish it. That takes time. Add
to that that the later missions have multiple ways to be completed. This will
be a full guide and FAQ, but it will take time.
