001-General Information
---------------------------------------------------------

This is a walkthrough for the game called Matches and
Matrimony: A Pride and Prejudice Tale. This game is a
dating sim, based on three different Jane Austen novels,
with a focus on Pride and Prejudice.

You can contact me at [email protected] if
you have any questions about this guide.

002-Video Guide
---------------------------------------------------------
-

Hey! Want to see how to beat the game instead of reading
about it? Well, I've got a video walkthrough, and you can
see it at...

The video comes complete with my commentary and such. It
only covers two-thirds of the game, though.

003-Walkthrough
---------------------------------------------------------

Matches and Matrimony is a pretty simple game to master.
At the start of each chapter, you get a chance to build
up your stats. Once you unlock one of the nine endings,
you have the option of starting halfway through the game,
to give you a head start on the bachelor of your choice.

Please note that there will be a lot of overlap between
the various scenarios, depending on which bachelor you
choose to pursue. Also note that I will call the main
character Elizabeth, even though you can name her
whatever you want, whether it's Catherine or Zombie
Killer or Hortensia Humperdink Walter the III.

003a-Mr. Collins
---------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Collins is the easiest character to marry, because no
matter what you choose, he will propose to your main
character in Chapter Eight.

Do whatever you want in Chapters One and Two, if you're
going after Mr. Collins.

Chapter Three
-------------

In this chapter, Mr. Collins first comes to visit. He is
hoping to marry one of the Bennet sisters, and since Jane
is infatuated with Mr. Bingley, he has set his attentions
on Elizabeth.

The first part of the conversation with Mr. Collins is
about his patron, Lady Catherine. No matter which option
you choose, your response will cause Mr. Collins to like
you more. If you want to increase Mr. Collins' affection
for Elizabeth, continue the conversation and compliment
him.

Do whatever you want in Chapters Four and Five, as they
don't affect the storyline with Mr. Collins.

Chapter Six
-----------

At the end of this chapter, Mr. Collins asks Elizabeth if
she will dance with him at the upcoming ball. She can
either agree, or lie and say someone else has asked her
for the first dance.

No matter which option you pick, Mr. Collins will like
Elizabeth more.

The dance occurs in Chapter Seven, but surprisingly,
nothing you can do in Chapter Seven will have an effect
on the Mr. Collins storyline, as he chooses to dance with
Elizabeth no matter what.

Chapter Eight
-------------

Mr. Collins proposes to Elizabeth in this chapter! If
Elizabeth has willpower over 64, she is given the choice
to accept or reject his proposal. If she doesn't have
enough willpower, she automatically accepts Mr. Collins'
proposal.

Mr. Collins always proposes in Chapter Eight, so if you
want Elizabeth to become Mrs. Collins, simply accept his
proposal in this chapter. That's it!

003b-Mr. Bingley
---------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Bingley is a nice man, but the problem with chasing
after him is the fact that he is in love with Elizabeth's
sister, Jane.

In general, to get Mr. Bingley, you must have willpower
over 64 and kindness over 34. You must also make friends
with his sisters.

Chapter One
-----------

Elizabeth meets Mr. Bingley in Chapter One. It's pretty
easy to catch his attention. Agree to dance with him when
he asks, and compliment the dance when you are dancing
with him. Choosing any other option will make Mr. Bingley
dislike Elizabeth.

When you compliment the dance, Mr. Bingley introduces you
to his sisters. Make sure that your kindness is over 10,
or otherwise, the Bingley sisters will automatically
dislike you.

The Bingley Sisters will belittle Elizabeth during the
course of the conversation. Choose not to speak up. If
you speak up, they will dislike you. If you say nothing,
they will like you.

Jane and Elizabeth talk after the dance. Jane is
interested in Mr. Bingley, and she wants to know if
you're interested in him, too. If you say you are, Jane
likes you less. If you say you aren't interested in Mr.
Bingley, she likes you more.

Pick either option, because whether or not Jane likes
Elizabeth has no effect on the Mr. Bingley storyline.

Chapter Two
-----------

Elizabeth appears at the Bingley residence in this
chapter. Choose to compliment Mr. Bingley in order to get
him to like you more.

After the conversation with Mr. Bingley, you are invited
to play cards. Choose to play cards with the, or
otherwise, they will dislike you.

Chapter Four
------------

In Chapter Four, ask Mr. Denny how he likes Merryton.
This causes him to like you.

Chapter Five
------------

Elizabeth and Lydianne go to town in this chapter. If Mr.
Denny doesn't like Elizabeth, based on her actions in
Chapter Four, she meets no one while in town. If Mr.
Denny DOES like Elizabeth, she will meet Mr. Denny, Mr.
Wickeby, Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley in town.

Bingley invites the Bennet family to a ball. Compliment
him, and if your kindness is over 34, you can continue
the conversation. Do so, and choose NOT to tease Mr.
Bingley. Choosing not to tease him will make him like you
more.

Chapter Six
-----------

If you didn't meet Mr. Bingley in Chapter Five, he
appears at the Bennet house. If he likes Elizabeth
enough, she has the option of chasing after him.

Chase after him, and say you'd like to dance the first
with him. When he offers, agree to dance with him. This
causes him to like you more.

Chapter Seven
-------------

If you got Mr. Bingley to ask Elizabeth for the first
dance in Chapter Six, he will dance with her here.
Alternately, if he likes Elizabeth enough, he will ask
her to dance, even if he didn't ask her in Chapter Six.

Naturally, you want to dance with Mr. Bingley to get him
to like Elizabeth more.

The Bingley sisters reappear in this chapter, and they
badmouth Mr. Collins. Agree with them that Mr. Collins is
an undesirable relative, and they will like you more.

Chapter Eight
-------------

Make sure your willpower is over 64, and reject all three
of Mr. Collins' proposals.

Chapter Nine
------------

Mr. Bingley and his sisters are moving away. Oh no!

Mr. Bingley normally leaves a letter for Jane, but if he
likes Elizabeth enough, he leaves the letter for her.
Note that if the Bingley sisters do not like Elizabeth,
she will decide to give up on Mr. Bingley at this point
in the game. That's why you have to be nice to the
sisters.

Chapter Ten
-----------

You're going after Mr. Bingley, so do not reproach Lady
Lucas at the start of this chapter. This causes her to
invite you to London in the next chapter. If you reproach
her, she does not invite Elizabeth there.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Accept the invitation to London. That's where Mr. Bingley
is, so Elizabeth obviously wants to go there.

Chapter Twelve
--------------

The Bingley sisters come to visit in this chapter. They
suggest that he is about to marry Georgina Darcy. Do not
get mad at them when they mention this, and it will cause
them to like you more.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

In this chapter, there is a ball. Provided that Mr.
Bingley and his sisters like you enough, he will dance
with Elizabeth at the ball.

Tell Bingley to follow his heart; telling him to follow
his father will cause him to dislike you.

Chapter Fourteen
----------------

Colonel Brandon and Jane have big news. They're getting
married! Jane decides to forgive Elizabeth at this point,
and their friendship is restored.

The bad news, however, is that Mr. Bingley is engaged to
Georgina Darcy.

Chapter Fifteen
---------------

If Colonel Brandon likes Elizabeth too much, it will
cause Bingley to dislike her. Otherwise, nothing changes
between Bingley and Elizabeth in this chapter.

Chapter Sixteen
---------------

If Mr. Bingley likes Elizabeth enough, Colonel Brandon
appears. He talks about an article in the newspaper,
which says there was a marriage between a Bingley and a
Darcy. Did Mr. Bingley marry Georgina Darcy?

Chapter Seventeen
-----------------

If Mr. Bingley likes Elizabeth enough, he will show up
unexpectedly and proposes to Elizabeth, explaining that
the wedding announcement in the paper referred to his
sister. Bingley and Elizabeth then get married.

If Mr. Bingley does not like Elizabeth enough, which can
happen if you don't tell him to follow his heart in
chapter thirteen, she will become an old maid.

003c-Mr. Wickeby
---------------------------------------------------------

Mr. Wickeby is a wicked fellow, so Elizabeth cannot be
too nice, or else he will not like her. She wants to
focus on sensibility, which involves following your heart
instead of your head. She does NOT want to focus on
propriety, which involves following your head instead of
your heart.

To get Mr. Wickeby, you must have willpower over 64, and
sensibility over 94, talent over 44, and propriety under
40.

Chapter Four
------------

The first three chapters have no effect on the Wickeby
storyline. In Chapter Four, ask Mr. Denny how he likes
Merryton. He will like you more, which means he will
introduce you to Mr. Wickeby in Chapter Five.

Chapter Five
------------

Go to Merryton with Lydianne. Lydianne and Elizabeth will
meet Mr. Denny in town, and he introduces them to Mr.
Wickeby.

When Mr. Bingley appears, introduce Mr. Wickeby to him.
This is somewhat improper, because Mr. Denny should
technically be the one who introduces his companion.
However, Wickeby enjoys the special attention that
Elizabeth is giving him, and consequently, he likes her
more.

Chapter Six
-----------

Elizabeth will go to town in this chapter, where she once
again meets Mr. Wickeby. Talk to him about Mr. Darcy, and
Wickeby will talk about his past. It seems that Darcy
cheated Wickeby out of his rightful inheritance.

Wickeby will like Elizabeth more, because she listened to
his story and agreed with him that Darcy is horrid.

Chapter Seven
-------------

Mr. Wickeby does NOT attend the ball. Oh no!

Chapter Eight
-------------

Make sure your willpower is over 64, and reject all three
of Mr. Collins' proposals.

Chapter Nine
------------

Mr. Wickeby comes to visit in this chapter. Speak to him
about the Netherfield Ball (you have two chances to do
so). If you listened to his backstory in Chapter Six, you
are able to tell him that he is very forebearing. Wickeby
enjoys the compliment, and he will like Elizabeth more.

The conversation continues. If your talent is over 44,
you have the opportunity to read poetry, play music, or
talk about politics. Read poetry or play music, and Mr.
Wickeby will like Elizabeth more.

Chapter Ten
-----------

Tell Lady Lucas that it sounds like a wonderful day.
Also, tell her that she is correct in thinking Elizabeth
likes Mr. Wickeby.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Elizabeth and the crew go to Whitwell. Colonel Brandon
will appear, but he gets called away suddenly.

If Mr. Wickeby likes you enough, your propriety is under
50, and your sensibility is over 52, you can make fun of
Colonel Brandon by agreeing with Wickeby. Do so, and Mr.
Wickeby will like you more.

You then have the choice of whether or not to go riding
in a carriage with Mr. Wickeby. Do so, and he will like
you more.

At the end of this chapter, you're supposed to go to
London. If Lady Lucas likes you enough, she invites you
to go there, so make sure to apologize to Lady Lucas.
Otherwise, she becomes angry with Elizabeth and does not
invite her to London.

Chapter Twelve
--------------

In this chapter, Elizabeth sees Mr. Wickeby in the street
when the three sisters leave their house. Wickeby is in a
hurry.

You can chase after him or not, but neither option has a
real effect on the Wickeby storyline.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

Elizabeth goes to a ball in this chapter. If Wickeby
likes her enough, she will see him at the ball. He is
with a young lady named Miss Grey, and you can choose to
leave him alone or interrupt him.

Interrupt him. He seems upset, and he acts like he
doesn't know Elizabeth. What cruelty is this? Why does he
deny the feelings that he and Elizabeth have for each
other?

If your propriety is under 40 and your sensibility is
over 64, you can profess your love for him. Do so.
Wickeby, sadly, is as stoic as ever, and he does not even
respond when Elizabeth says she loves him.

Elizabeth runs away to Lady Lucas, and Lady Lucas takes
her home. Poor Elizabeth...

When Elizabeth's sisters return home, Lydianne says that
Wickeby is putting money before his heart. You see, Miss
Grey is very rich, and Wickeby is hoping to marry her to
get his hands on her money. Rumor has it that Wickeby and
Grey are due to be married!

Chapter Fourteen
----------------

Elizabeth is horribly depressed, because the man she
loves is going to marry another woman.

Colonel Brandon will appear. He wants to tell Elizabeth
more about Mr. Wickeby's past. You can choose to listen
to the Colonel or not. Either way, you will learn the
truth: Mr. Wickeby seduced and impregnated Colonel
Brandon's adopted daughter, Eliza.

Gee, Mr. Wickeby is more like Mr. Wicked-by. Elizabeth
still wonders, though. Does Mr. Wickeby still like her?
Did he EVER like her?

Chapter Fifteen
---------------

Elizabeth gets a letter from Wickeby. If your sensibility
is over 80, you can choose to forgive him. Do so, or else
Elizabeth will refuse to talk to him ever again.

Elizabeth then returns home at the end of this chapter.

Chapter Sixteen
---------------

If Mr. Wickeby likes you enough, he will appear in this
chapter. If your sensibility is over 94, and your
propriety is under 40, you can choose to marry Mr.
Wickeby. Do so, in order to get the Mr. Wickeby ending.

003d-Colonel Brandon
---------------------------------------------------------

There are two ways to get Colonel Brandon as Elizabeth's
wife, one which will occur in chapter seventeen, and one
in chapter fourteen. The shorter ending ignores the
Wickeby plotline, while the longer ending follows it.

To get the Colonel in the shorter ending, you must have
willpower over 90, sensibility over 52 and talent over
44. In the longer ending, you willpower must be over 64,
your sensibility must be over 52, and your talent must be
at 100.

Shorter Ending
--------------

Chapter Four
------------

Colonel Brandon first appears in chapter four. In this
chapter, Charlotte asks Elizabeth to play piano. If
Elizabeth has talent over 20, she can play. Choose to do
so, and she will meet Colonel Brandon, who likes her more
because she is a good musician.

Chapter Eight
-------------

Make sure your willpower is over 64, and reject all three
of Mr. Collins' proposals.

Chapter Nine
------------

Colonel Brandon appears for the second time, in this
chapter. Provided you played music for him in chapter
four, Elizabeth gets another chance to show off for him.

If your talent and sensibility are over 44, you will get
to recite poetry. The second line of the poem is "my
right, there is none to dispute". Pick that line, and he
will like you more.

Alternately, if you didn't play for him in chapter four,
and your sensibility is over 44, tell him that you don't
believe in second loves. He will like you more.

Chapter Ten
-----------

You're going after Colonel Brandon, so do not reproach
Lady Lucas at the start of this chapter. This causes her
to invite you to London in the next chapter. If you
reproach her, she does not invite Elizabeth there.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Elizabeth meets with the Colonel in this chapter. If he
likes her enough, they will have a conversation. If your
sensibility is over 52, you can show overflowing
enthusiasm for the trip, by saying the grass is green,
then saying you would have walked there. Do so, and the
Colonel will like Elizabeth more.

The Colonel will be called away suddenly, and rumors say
he has a secret daughter. Oh my! Now, if Wickeby likes
Elizabeth enough, she might have the opportunity to make
fun of Colonel Brandon here (depending on her stats). If
you do so, the Colonel will dislike her.

At the end of this chapter, accept the invitation to
London. That's where Colonel Brandon is, so Elizabeth
obviously wants to go there.

Chapter Twelve
--------------

The only thing related to Colonel Brandon that happens in
this chapter is that Elizabeth wonders about seeing him
again. She is surprised to find herself longing for him,
seeing as he is so much older than her.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

Colonel Brandon appears at the ball and asks Elizabeth to
dance, if he likes her enough. Do so, and he will like
you more.

Chapter Fourteen
----------------

Elizabeth is wondering about her feelings for the
Colonel, when he appears. He has been wondering about his
feelings for her, too. He fears that she doesn't like
him, and besides, he is too old for her, so he has
decided it would be best if he never sees her again.

If your willpower is over 90, refuse to let the Colonel
leave. He is shocked to learn that Elizabeth likes him
back. The two of them decide to give their relationship a
try, and they end up getting married.

If your willpower is under 90, or if you let him leave,
Elizabeth gets the old maid ending instead.

Longer Ending
--------------

Chapter Four
------------

Colonel Brandon first appears in chapter four. In this
chapter, Charlotte asks Elizabeth to play piano. If
Elizabeth has talent over 20, she can play. Choose to do
so, and she will meet Colonel Brandon, who likes her more
because she is a good musician.

Also in this chapter, you talk to Mr. Denny. Ask Mr.
Denny how he likes Merryton. He will like you more, which
means he will introduce you to Mr. Wickeby in Chapter
Five.

Chapter Five
------------

Go to Merryton with Lydianne. Lydianne and Elizabeth will
meet Mr. Denny in town, and he introduces them to Mr.
Wickeby.

When Mr. Bingley appears, introduce Mr. Wickeby to him.
This is somewhat improper, because Mr. Denny should
technically be the one who introduces his companion.
However, Wickeby enjoys the special attention that
Elizabeth is giving him, and consequently, he likes her
more.

Chapter Six
-----------

Elizabeth will go to town in this chapter, where she once
again meets Mr. Wickeby. Talk to him about Mr. Darcy, and
Wickeby will talk about his past. It seems that Darcy
cheated Wickeby out of his rightful inheritance.

Wickeby will like Elizabeth more, because she listened to
his story and agreed with him that Darcy is horrid.

Mr. Wickeby comes to visit after Colonel Brandon. Speak
to him about the Netherfield Ball (you have two chances
to do so). If you listened to his backstory in Chapter
Six, you are able to tell him that he is very
forebearing. Wickeby enjoys the compliment, and he will
like Elizabeth more.

The conversation continues. If your talent is over 44,
you have the opportunity to read poetry, play music, or
talk about politics. Read poetry or play music, and Mr.
Wickeby will like Elizabeth more.

Chapter Ten
-----------

Tell Lady Lucas that it sounds like a wonderful day, or
else she will dislike you. Also, tell her that she is
correct in thinking Elizabeth likes Mr. Wickeby.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Elizabeth and the crew go to Whitwell. Colonel Brandon
will appear, and if he likes her enough, they will have a
conversation. If your sensibility is over 52, you can
show overflowing enthusiasm for the trip, by saying the
grass is green, then saying you would have walked there.
Do so, and the Colonel will like Elizabeth more.

The Colonel will be called away suddenly, and rumors say
he has a secret daughter. Oh my!

If Mr. Wickeby likes you enough, he will appear. If your
propriety is under 50, and your sensibility is over 52,
you can make fun of Colonel Brandon here. What you should
do is disagree at the first opportunity (if you agree,
the Colonel will dislike you), then agree at the second
opportunity (if you disagree, Mr. Wickeby will dislike
you).

Wickeby is in a
hurry. You can chase after him or not, but it does not
change the storyline.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

Elizabeth goes to a ball in this chapter. Colonel Brandon
appears at the ball and asks Elizabeth to dance, if he
likes her enough. Do so, and he will like her more.

After this, Elizabeth sees Wickeby at the ball. He is
with a young lady named Miss Grey, and you can choose to
leave him alone or interrupt him.

Listen to him, and he
tells her a long, sad story. His beloved sister-in-law
died in bad circumstances, leaving behind a daughter. The
Colonel adopted the young girl and took care of her, but
she suddenly disappeared over half a year ago.

Back in Chapter Eleven, when he suddenly left Whitwell,
it was because he got a letter from Eliza. He immediately
set out to visit her. He was shocked to learn that the
reason she disappeared was because she became
pregnant...with Mr. Wickeby's child.

So, Mr. Wickeby seduced and impregnated Colonel Brandon's
niece. He has a history of inappropriate behavior when it
comes to women, and he never really cared for Elizabeth,
as his actions in the previous chapter showed.

Thank the Colonel for telling you this information. He
will like her more.

Chapter Fifteen
---------------

Elizabeth gets a letter from Wickeby. If your sensibility
is over 80, you can choose to forgive him. Do not do so!
You should not forgive that cruel, cruel man.

Elizabeth then returns home at the end of this chapter.

Chapter Sixteen
---------------

Elizabeth reflects on her life, and what has happened.
She decides that the best man for her is Colonel Brandon.

Ask Mr. Bennett to invite the Colonel over for dinner, so
she can meet with the Colonel.

Chapter Seventeen
-----------------

Elizabeth's sisters are pretty sure why she asked Father
to invite the Colonel over.

First, play the piano for the Colonel. Then, choose
either option in the ensuing discussion, because both
lead to a marriage with the Colonel.

003e-Captain Wentworth
---------------------------------------------------------

Captain Wentworth is a change of pace. He is from Jane
Austen's last novel, Persuasion. When you pursue him, the
storyline changes to follow that book, instead of
following the storyline from Pride and Prejudice.

The storyline is that Elizabeth and Wentworth were in
love, when they were younger. Their parents called off
the engagement, and he was sent to join the navy. Now it
is a few years later, and he has returned. Can he and
Elizabeth still love each other?

In order to get Captain Wentworth, you need kindness at
100, and willpower over 88.

In order to pursue the Captain Wentworth storyline, you
must not get any of the other bachelors to like
Elizabeth. Just go through the first nine chapters, and
make all of the bachelors you meet dislike you.

I recommend using the skip feature to start off the game
at Chapter 10, if you're going after Captain Wentworth.
Really, nothing that happens in those chapters affects
his plotline at all.

Chapter Ten
-----------

Be polite to Lady Lucas, or else she will not invite
Elizabeth to London in Chapter Eleven.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Captain Wentworth appears for the first time in the game.
If none of the other bachelors like Elizabeth, Captain
Wentworth will come talk to her. If one of the other
bachelors likes Elizabeth, he is hurt that she has
betrayed his love, and he refuses to see her.

Ask Captain Wentworth about his ship, the Laconia. He is
impressed that you still remember the name of his ship,
and consequently, he will like you more.

Chapter Twelve
--------------

If Captain Wentworth likes you enough, he will go for a
walk with you in London. Lydianne, being foolish, gets
herself injured by jumping down stairs.

If you have willpower over 88, you can suggest that
Colonel Brandon go find a surgeon. If you do, Captain
Wentworth will like you more. If you do not suggest that
Colonel Brandon should find a surgeon, Lydianne will die,
and the game ends.

If you have kindness over 70, Captain Wentworth will
suggest that Elizabeth should look after Lydianne. As a
result, he likes her more, for a second time in this
chapter. If Elizabeth's kindness is too low, Captain
Wentworth suggests getting a nurse instead.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

You don't get to choose what to do this week, because
Elizabeth is going to stay and nurse Lydianne.

Lydianne is recovering, and she seems especially attached
to Colonel Brandon now. Captain Wentworth is shocked at
this, because he can't imagine how a man could recover
from a painful breakup.

Clearly, the Captain is thinking of the time he was
forced to break up with Elizabeth. Does this mean HE
still hasn't gotten over it? Does he still have feelings
for her?

Jane comes in and talks about the ball, which is always
held in London during Chapter Thirteen. If your kindness
is at 100, you can choose to stay with Lydianne instead
of going to the ball.

If Elizabeth goes to the ball at this point, the game
ends. Therefore, choose to stay with Lydianne. Captain
Wentworth is impressed with your kindness, and he likes
her more.

Chapter Fourteen
----------------

Colonel Brandon talks to Elizabeth about his past. He has
not forgotten his first love, Eliza, who was forced to
marry someone else. She is now dead.

If Wentworth likes you enough, and your willpower is over
70, you can reassure the Colonel by saying that Eliza
never forgot him. This is because women love longer than
men do. The Colonel and Elizabeth have a long
conversation about women and men at this point.

Captain Wentworth is in the room the whole time, writing
a letter, but he does not say anything.

When the Captain finishes his letter, he says he must
leave and mail it. The Colonel says he must leave and see
Lydianne.

Elizabeth is left alone, until she finds a letter written
by the Captain. He still loves her, naturally. She sits,
reflecting on this letter, until Colonel Brandon returns.

Colonel Brandon and Elizabeth go for a walk outside,
where they meet Captain Wentworth. Brandon seizes the
opportunity, and he leaves so the two of them can be
together. Naturally, Elizabeth and Captain Wentworth
profess their love for each other, and the two are wed.

003f. Mr. Darcy
---------------------------------------------------------

Ah, Mr. Darcy! He is my favorite, too. There are three
different endings with Mr. Darcy, and it is rather hard
to get, because unlike with the other bachelors, the game
doesn't tell you when you gain or lose favor with Darcy.

To get the final ending with Mr. Darcy, you must have
willpower at 100, kindness over 90, propriety under 30,
talent over 60, and with over 54. Charlotte must like
you, Lady Lucas must like you, Mr. Denny must like you,
you must listen to Wickeby's woes, and Lady Catherine
must hate you. As you can see, there are a lot of
requirements to get this ending!

Chapter One
-----------

Suggest that Charlotte doesn't believe what she is
saying, so she will like you more.

Chapter Two
-----------

In this chapter, Elizabeth visits the Bingleys. Mr. Darcy
is here. Choose not to play cards, and if your willpower
is over twenty, she can talk to Mr. Darcy.

At the first opportunity, find no fault with Mr. Darcy's
weakness. Then, during the next conversation, suggest
that Mr. Darcy expects far too much from women. Disagree
with what has been said at the next opportunity. This
causes Mr. Darcy to like you more.

Chapter Four
------------

In Chapter Four, ask Mr. Denny how he likes Merryton.
This causes him to like you, so you will meet him (and
Mr. Darcy) in the next chapter.

If your talent is over 20, you can play piano. Do so, and
this causes Mr. Darcy to like you more.

Lady Lucas will ask Elizabeth to dance with Darcy. Reject
the opportunity to do so. Mr. Darcy will be impressed, or
at the very least, intrigued that for once, a girl is NOT
interested in blindly chasing after him because he is
rich and handsome. If your efuse to dance with him, he
likes you more.

Chapter Five
------------

Elizabeth and Lydianne go to town in this chapter. If Mr.
Denny doesn't like Elizabeth, based on her actions in
Chapter Four, she meets no one while in town. If Mr.
Denny DOES like Elizabeth, she will meet Mr. Denny, Mr.
Wickeby, Mr. Darcy and Mr. Bingley in town.

Mr. Wickeby and Mr. Darcy clearly know each other. They
also clearly dislike each other. Uh oh...

Chapter Six
-----------

When you meet Mr. Wickeby in town, listen to his past. He
tells about how he knows Mr. Darcy. Apparently, Darcy
cheated him out of his rightful inheritance.

Chapter Seven
-------------

If you did all three things to get Mr. Darcy to like you-
-that is, if you disagreed with him in chapter two,
played piano in chapter four, and refused to dance with
him in chapter four--he will ask Elizabeth to dance in
this chapter. Provided her energy is over 20, she will
accept.

Talk with Mr. Darcy about the music, then suggest that he
say something. Lady Lucas will appear, and she sets up a
plotline about Darcy, Bingley and Jane.

The dance continues. Say you don't think that you enjoy
the same books as he does. Then, question Mr. Darcy about
his immoveable position. Questioning his character in
this fashion causes Mr. Darcy to like you more.

Chapter Eight
-------------

Make sure your willpower is over 64, and reject all three
of Mr. Collins' proposals. When Charlotte offers to have
Mr. Collins stay at her place, agree to the plan.

Chapter Nine
------------

Mr. Collins proposes to Charlotte. Boy, it sure didn't
take him long to get over Elizabeth! Wish Charlotte every
imaginable happiness when prompted, in order to get her
to like you.

Chapter Ten
-----------

Do not reproach Lady Lucas at the start of this chapter,
or else she will dislike you.

Provided that Charlotte married Mr. Collins, Charlotte
likes you enough and Mr. Darcy likes you enough,
Charlotte invites Elizabeth to visit Hunsford. Mr. Darcy
is there, so clearly, if you want to get the Mr. Darcy
ending, choose to go there.

If you have trouble getting this ending, skip straight to
this point in the game, using the skip option that is
available after you beat the game once.

Chapter Eleven
--------------

Elizabeth meets Mr. Darcy's mean aunt in this chapter. If
your propriety is under 32, you can speak out against
Lady Catherine and cause her to hate you. Do so, or else
she will ruin the relationship with Mr. Darcy in chapter
19.

Chapter Twelve
--------------

Mr. Darcy comes to visit in this chapter. If Elizabeth
has talent over 60, she will play for the party.

Mr. Darcy appears. You must have wit over 54 and
willpower over 82 to be able to engage him in
conversation here.

Ask Darcy why he has entered the room. At the next
opportunity, tell him that he is ungenerous. Darcy and
Elizabeth seem to tease each other at this point.

Talk about how Mr. Darcy acted in the Country Ball, back
in Chapter One. Darcy says that he didn't dance with any
women, because he is bad at dealing with strangers. Ask
why, and Mr. Darcy will open up, admitting that he is
shy.

Suggest that this is all Mr. Darcy's fault. The fact that
he rarely talks to strangers is why he feels shy and
awkward around them. Elizabeth is intrigued at seeing
this newer, softer side to Mr. Darcy, instead of his
usual arrogant self.

Mr. Darcy will like you more if you follow that above-
outlined conversation tree.

Chapter Thirteen
----------------

Choose to go outside. Elizabeth runs into Mr. Darcy's
cousin. He reveals some horrible information: Mr. Darcy
is behind the breakup between Jane and Mr. Bingley.
Elizabeth becomes furious with Mr. Darcy when she hears
this news.

Mr. Darcy will appear. If he likes Elizabeth enough, he
will propose. Ending #4 is the ending of the game if
Elizabeth marries Darcy here.

If your willpower is over 88, you can reject the
proposal. Make sure to do so. Elizabeth will start to
give Mr. Darcy a piece of her mind. If you heard Mr.
Wickeby's story in chapter six, you can blame Darcy for
interfering in Wickeby's life, as well as Jane's.

Blaming Mr. Darcy for Wickeby's woes will cause Darcy to
leave Elizabeth a letter in the next chapter.

Chapter Fourteen
----------------

If Elizabeth blamed Mr. Darcy for Mr. Wickeby's woes in
the last chapter, he leaves a letter for her in this
chapter. The letter explains everything. First, the
situation with Jane and Mr. Bingley was a complete
misunderstanding; Mr. Darcy did not interfere out of a
dislike for Jane.

Second, Mr. Wickeby is horrible person who only likes
women for their money. He tried to marry Mr. Darcy's
sister, in order to get his greasy hands on her estate.
Mr. Darcy stopped Wickeby's plans on this occasion, which
is what caused the enmity between the two men.

Elizabeth is mortified to learn that she did what she
accused Mr. Darcy of doing: judging someone before
knowing all the facts.

Lady Lucas will tease Elizabeth in this chapter. Put up
with this, and she will like you. If she likes Elizabeth
enough, Lady Lucas invites her to North County. Agree to
go.

Chapter Fifteen
---------------

The only thing you have to do in this chapter, in order
to unlock the special ending with Mr. Darcy, is visit
Pemberly and decide to stay there, even after you meet
Mr. Darcy.

Darcy is very polite to Elizabth and Lady Lucas in this
chapter, which is surprising seeing as the last time they
spoke, they had a huge argument.

Chapter Sixteen
---------------

Choose to read the mail, or else the game ends in the
next chapter. The mail has some horrid news: Lydianne has
run off with Mr. Wickeby, in hopes of eloping! Darcy,
along with everyone else, is shocked at this news.

Chapter Seventeen
-----------------

If you didn't read the letter in the last chapter, the
game ends here. Otherwise, the plotline about Lydianne
continues. Wickeby has agreed to marry Lydianne, but Mr.
Bennet thinks this is because Uncle Lucas bribed Wickeby.

Chapter Eighteen
----------------

Mr. Wickeby and his new wife, Lydianne, return to the
Bennet house. Lydianne lets it slip that Mr. Darcy was
somehow involved in the Wickeby wedding.

Instead of talking to Mr. Wickeby, choose to talk to Lady
Lucas. Ask her what Mr. Darcy's role in the wedding was.
She reveals that Mr. Darcy is the one who bribed Wickeby
into marrying Lydianne. But why?

You don't have to follow up on the plotline about Mr.
Darcy's involvement in the wedding if you don't want to,
however.

Chapter Nineteen
----------------

Lady Catherine appears. She has heard about Darcy's
involvement with the wedding, and she suspects that he
got involved because he has feelings for Elizabeth.
Further, someone (most like Mr. Collins) has spread the
rumor that Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy are going to be
married.

Lady Catherine demands that Elizabeth call off the
engagement.

In order to avoid bending to Lady Catherine's will, you
must fulfill all three of these requirements:

1. Willpower at 100.
2. Propriety under 70.
3. You had to speak out against Lady Catherine in Chapter
Eleven.

If you fail at any of those requirements, Lady Catherine
forces Elizabeth to never see Darcy again.

Lady Catherine ends the conversation with an ultimatum:
agree never to marry Mr. Darcy, or face the consequences.
Say that you will NOT refuse to marry Mr. Darcy.

Chapter Twenty
--------------

Final chapter! Provided that you argued with Lady
Catherine in Chapter Nineteen, and you made no promise to
never marry Mr. Darcy, Elizabeth will meet with Mr.
Darcy.

The two of them have a long, heartfelt conversation. You
can choose to marry him or not. Each option leads to a
unique ending. I recommend saving your game and watching
both endings.

Congratulations! You unlocked the final ending of the
game! Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy get married, and they
become a famous literary couple whose legacy endures to
this day. Good job!
