=== Why Evan? ==
=================
Evans is a unique mage in the game of Maplestory. They make use of a
pet Dragon to inflict damage on enemies in the game as opposed to just
casting spells. In retrospect it’s exactly like a mage somewhat in the
spell-casting ideal except that you get a Dragon floating next to you
that does animations when you cast spells. Fun.
Pros:
- Almost all of Evan’s skills are maxable by the Job quest & SP
Allocation
- Makes use of Fire, Ice and Thunder elements making ideal training
situations a lot more variant
- Very good mobbing skill early / Excels at Bossing
- Early Teleport allows for easier leveling
- You get a dragon
Cons:
- Does not have the ability “Improving Max MP Increase” at all and
“Improving MP Recovery” early making Evans heavily reliant on
pots moreso than other mages, also does not have Mana Point
Eater.
- Is not able to learn Magic Guard until level 30+ making early
stages more vulnerable to death if going after high level
monsters/bosses
- Magic Guard is also maxed at level 5 without the use of the
Mastery Book which is highly frustrating and a nuisance
====================
=== AP Allocation ==
====================
Evan is basically a mage, meaning your stats in both STR and DEX will
stay at 4 regardless of what you do, since you are not able to put
points into them**. Now comes the choice of going LUK or LUKLESS.
LUKLESS is pure damage but are dependent on highly scrolled equipment
since the choice of items are limited to very few due to the
requirement of LUK on most magician items. LUK however can just buy
NPC armor/weapons at their whim or drops from monsters since they have
the LUK needed to equip them, however they lose damage from the points
put into LUK. The choice really is yours however I would suggest going
LUK unless you are heavily funded, depending on your world’s economy
prices on scrolls and such.
Build:
- LUK – Level +3 into LUK, rest into INT
- LUKLESS – Everything poured into INT
I suggest going LUKLESS because it’s really beneficial regardless of
your funding.
** READ – Your AP stats while in “beginner mode” before level 10 will
automatically be leveled into STR and DEX, do not worry because once
you hit level 10 your stats will reset and you can put the points into
whatever

=== SP Allocation ==
====================
**Read** The SP allocation build is under the presumption that you have
done the job quests that give SP
Beginner
The only skill that really matters is 3 snails which allows you to do
40 damage consistently, other than that you can go recovery or speed.
I usually go speed since it helps a bit more than healing
1st Mastery
Level 10 - 16 – Magic Missile
Level 16 - 20 – Dragon Soul
SP From Quests - Max Dragon Soul
2nd Mastery:
Level 21 - 1 Teleport, 2 Fire Circle
Level 22 - 26 – Fire Circle
Level 26 - 30 - Teleport
SP from Quests - Max Teleport
3rd Mastery:
Level 31 - 32 – 5 Magic Guard (Unless you have the mastery book already
in which case max Magic Guard ASAP)
Level 32 - 36 – Max Lightning
SP from Quests - Max Magic Guard
4th Mastery:
Level 41-46 - Max Ice attack
Level 46-50 - Elemental Reset
SP from Quests - Elemental Reset to 12
5th Mastery:
Level 51-52 - Max Elemental Reset
Level 52-58 - Max Shield (recommended) or Flare
Level 58-60 - Flare
SP from Quests - SP into Flare
6th Mastery:
Level 61-64 - Max Critical
Level 65-68 - Booster to 11
Level 68-73 - Thrust to 15
Level 73-77 - Slow to 11
Level 77-80 – Max Thrust/Whatever
7th Mastery:
Level 81-85 - Max Elemental Amplification
Level 86-89 - Max Magic Resistance
Level 89-95 - Max Dragon Breath
Level 96-100 - Killing Wing
8th Mastery:
Level 101-104 - Max Fury
Level 104-11 - Max Earthquake
Level 110-117 - Max Imprint
Level 117-120 - Remaining points into Recovery
9th Mastery:
This mastery is analogous to early 4th job, and will involve the
standard disclaimer that many of these skills depend on availability of
mastery books and the like. Therefore, for this mastery and 10th, the
guide would only be meant to imply preference rather than to outrightly
specify a build. Generally speaking:
Flame Wheel >= Mastery >= Maple Warrior > Illusion > Awakening.
The first three depend largely on availability of skillbooks. Mastery
can be seen to outrank Flame Wheel, since 8th and 7th mastery skills
will be sufficient for training purposes already. However, maxing Flame
Wheel is still critical. Maple Warrior depends largely on the funds
available, although it will be more useful than Flame Wheel if you can
afford to get it to 20 or to max it. Illusion is a kinda must-have for
its DPS, but Evan will unlikely be significant DPS monsters in the
first place. If you value DPS for your Evan, this skill can be maxed
after Mastery and possibly MW (and before Flame Wheel), as previous
skills will likely be sufficient for training. Otherwise, this is on
the backburner and will not hamper your training significantly.
10th Mastery:
The last mastery for this class, and one that has a host of useful
skills. The most important skill to max is Dark Fog, as it will put
Evan somewhat on par with their magician cousins in terms of ultimates.
The cooldown will hamper significant spammage (which may or may not be
considered a blessing), but it will provide an incredible boost to
training as the Evan races towards 200. Blaze is also the strongest DPM
spell for Evans. Again, depending on the availability of skillbooks,
there are only preferences to be mentioned here, and would be as such:
Dark Fog >> Blaze >= Onyx > Soul Stone
Dark Fog will be most sought after, as it will greatly augment the
Evan's training regimen. Blaze will be useful to supplement training as
well, but the Evan has many skills prior to this mastery that will
fulfill training needs as is. Therefore, Onyx may be seen as more
useful than Blaze, as it will significantly increase the mage's attack.
Soul Stone can be placed as more important than Onyx, but it is
generally considered to be rather useless. If Evan are ever invited to
boss parties, it will certainly be for Magic resistance rather than
Soul Stone.

=== Starting Out ==
===================
Really you should be sticking inside Utah’s Pig Farm until you can no
longer do the quests there. It should easily take you to level 10 if
not further, I think I was level 12 when I left the area and I hadn’t
trained any extra on Pigs/Ribbon Pigs there at all. Due to
inconsistent damage I suggest maxing 3 snails ASAP, then you do a
constant 40 damage and can 2 shot everything in sight.
Once you hit level 10 remember to equip your wand so you can cast magic
missile as you cannot cast this spell with the stick you are first
equipped with, as well remember to dish out your SP/AP points into the
appropriate places.

=== Equipment ===
=================
Since going LUK can pretty much allow you to equip all the items
available to magicians I’ll only be listing equipment for LUKLESS
builds. Also all stats listed are the average stats for that certain
item.
Obviously for shoes/capes/gloves any can be bought & scrolled but
listed are ones that gives stats as well.
This being noted that there are scrolls for 10,30,50,60,70 and 100% for
INT for most items. For 10, 60 & 100% there is absolutely no chance
for the item to break, however with 30, 50 & 70^ chances there is also
a risk of the item you are attempting to scroll to break. Scroll at
your own risk.

=== FAQ ===
===========
Q: What is the difference between LUK & LUKLESS?
A: Basically LUKLESS dominates damage wise early but unless they are
funded, because of the lack of increase in M ATK LUK will eventually
win out
Q: So should I go LUK or LUKLESS
A: I recommend LUKLESS, your damage output overall will be better and
you won’t be sinking money into constantly upgrading your equipment
