Welcome to the FAQ for Luxor, the PC game by mumbojumbo.  My name is AramisJ,
and I will be your guide.  As by now you must have guessed, this guide cannot
be used without permission of me, AramisJ.  Please, if you're going to steal
a guide, why would you steal this one?  It's not worth it.  Also, this is my
first FAQ, so please, be gentle.

/--------------------------------\
 II. Introduction to the game
\--------------------------------/

Luxor is a puzzle game along the same lines as PopCap's Zuma.  Basically, you
are fighting against the Egyptian god of chaos, Set, presumably for control of
Egypt.  The storyline isn't really important, which is nice because it's not at
all good.

It's unclear why the game is called Luxor, except that there's a hotel in Las
Vegas by the same name, with the same Egyptian theme throughout.  Who knows?

The main difference I've seen between this game and others of the same style is
that this one is completely vertical.  Zuma (like several other games of this
type) is circular, giving the player full range of motion.  Luxor, on the other
hand, gives the player only the bottom line of the screen to take shots.

/------------------\
 III. Controls
\------------------/

Luxor is played with the mouse and the two mouse buttons.  Moving the scarab
(the shooter) across the bottom is performed by moving the mouse left and
right.  Clicking the left button will fire the sphere in play, while clicking
the right button will switch between spheres in the scarab.

The spacebar is used to unpause the game.

IV. Menu
\----------/

Luxor provides you with a simple interface for gaming.  To being, press "Click
here to play" (that was simple, eh?).  Next you have the menu screen.  This
tells you exactly what game you're playing, as well as which player is signed
in.  If your screen name isn't in the blue box at the top, or if you haven't
created a screen name yet, click "If this is not you, click here."

Now you have the option of creating a new player, selecting an existing player,
or creating havoc by deleting the player names of your friends and family (not
recommended).

The options menu gives you a chance to change the volume, mute it, or switch
between full screen and window modes.  It also gives you the credits, how nice!

The instructions menu is a pretty basic introduction to the game.  If you don't
know how the controls work, read the "Controls" section above.  It'll explain
it about as well as this screen, just without the pretty colors.

The hall of fame is, of course, a high score list.  Quit does just that.

Don't press the button below quit unless you want to be redirected to a website.
You have been warned.

 V. Levels
\-------------/

The map screen is a map of Egypt, with a road passing through thirteen points.
This road, naturally, is the path you will take in your battle against the evil
Set.  You'll notice on the right side that the road appears to extend a bit
past "Philae".  This is the road to level 13, which is the final route.

You have defeated Set and his minions,
And thwarted his evil plans.
Peace and harmony reside again in the two lands.

For this mighty deed, your name will live in the
Hearts and minds of our people for all eternity...

..And, you'll get tons of gold, gems
And a big, big villa on the Nile!

That's it!  After you beat the game once, you have the option of choosing any
level you wish to start.  Just click on the picture, and you'll begin at that
level and continue through the game.

VI. Scoring
\-------------/
Scores begin at 300 points for your basic three-sphere completion.  Each
additional sphere adds 100 points.  Combos are achieved by making more than one
completion in a row.  They add 100 points per completion, beginning with the
third completion.  Chains are produced when a completion occurs between two
sets of spheres of the same color.  Chain score x2 is twice what they would
ordinarily be, that is, a three ball chain would be worth 600 points.  Chain x3
triples, and so on.  Fireballs and Lightning balls score 100 points per ball,
just as if the balls had been destroyed in combination.  When a shot gives both
chain and combo (placing a ball during a chain), the chain is calculated first,
followed by the combo score.
