1. Introduction/About This Guide
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello everyone. Welcome to my achievement and trophy guide for "Lightning
Returns: Final Fantasy XIII" for the Xbox 360 and PLaystation 3. This is my
third and most ambitious FAQ; I have also done achievement guides for
"Nicktoons MLB" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles." I've been doing one guide
per year at around the same time in April for the last three years. I'm not
exactly sure why that is. In any case, if you want to check out my other
guides, feel free. They're both good games for upping that Gamerscore.

Before I get into anything, I'll say that if you have questions about this
guide or just want to tell me how awesome I am, you can e-mail me. I'll put a
contact address at the end of this guide. If you do e-mail, just make sure to
title it "Final Fantasy XIII" or something like that; otherwise, I'll probably
delete it without knowing what it is.
For what it's worth, this guide looks way better on a desktop computer than it
does on a phone. You may see a few weird line breaks if you're browsing on a
mobile device that don't show up on a computer. I may go back and fix that at
some point if it annoys me enough. In any case, it doesn't affect the info
contained here in any way.
The purpose of this guide is to aid gamers in getting all of the achievements
(or trophies, for you PS3 players) for "Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII"
in a straightforward and timely fashion. Difficulty-wise, none is too tough if
you're willing to put in the hours and build Lightning's stats up by doing
quests.
I'll mainly focus on my own experiences with getting all the achievements, and
I'll also throw in some other strategies I've seen gamers post in other spots.
I'm also doing this on Easy mode, as it's the best way to get all the
achievements quickly. If you're playing normal mode, some of the info may not
apply quite as well, so keep that in mind.
I'll try to put strategies in here for most of the bosses that will give you
trouble in nabbing an achievement, but if you're getting frustrated with an
enemy I haven't covered in here, there are plenty of resources out there for
you to find a good way to do it. That said, if you need help or think I should
add something, just let me know. I may put in strategies for Caius, Noel and
Bhunivelze at some point; they're the only other bosses that may cause you
problems.
The game has 42 achievements (all offline) worth a total of 1000 points.

2. Getting Started
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy XIII trilogy.
"Lightning Returns" is one of those proverbial love-it-or-hate-it entries in
the FF franchise, and the battle system is quite different from any we've seen
before.
The game has only one playable character to worry about (Lightning herself) and
progression focuses on completing quests. Once you complete a quest, you'll
receive an improvement in stats. Finishing them will also help toward extending
the world to a 14th day, and for these reasons it's imperative that you finish
as many quests as possible--preferably all of them.
One major point of contention in "Lightning Returns" is the constant countdown
timer in the corner of your screen. You'll have to finish up whatever you're
doing by 6:00 a.m. each day, when you'll be taken back to the Ark to hear Hope
yammer about something or other.
Although the timer creates a very prevalent sense of urgency throughout most of
the game, try not to worry too much about it. You'll have more than enough time
to finish all the quests, upgrade your stuff and exterminate every species
before the end of the world. You can also use the EP ability Chronostasis to
freeze time, which will give you as much opportunity as you need to complete a
quest or whatever.
Bkstunt_31 and Krystal 109 made a very good speed walkthrough for this game,
and you should follow it if you're worried about missing anything.

I used it and had the vast majority of the game finished up by Day 4, which
gave me plenty of time to clean up missing achievements and random quests.
Also, it is very HIGHLY recommended that you play this game on EASY mode. The
drops aren't as great, but the EP penalty and hit point nerf to the enemies
outweigh the potential cons. In short, normal mode is MUCH harder if you're not
100 percent comfortable with the battle system. You've been warned.
FYI, playing on Easy mode doesn't affect any of the achievements, which is what
we're here to do.
It's probably a good idea to play Hard mode on your second playthrough so that
you can get the most out of the weapon/shield upgrading. More on that later.
Don't sell anything except medals (usually found lying on the ground) or items
which say "would fetch a high price at shops" or something like that in the
description. You'll need the item drops you get from defeating monsters to
complete many of the Canvas of Prayers quests. You'll also need to hang on to
your accessories and weapons for upgrading purposes. Don't worry; gil isn't
really much of an issue, even without selling anything.
Don't finish the "Death Game" side-quest until you have both the "Seed
Collector" and "Unearthy Apothecary" achievements. It's needed for Soul Seed
farming.
Veteran RPG players should already know this, but I'll go ahead and say it
anyway: save often, and keep at least a couple of save slots. This way, if you
mess up you won't have to backtrack too far.
You'll need about 1 1/2 playthroughs to get all the achievements, which means
you'll have to finish up the game by getting through Day 14, beating the final
boss and starting a New Game+.
It's probably a good idea to start the new game in Hard mode. I tried it on
Easy and had some difficulty getting the weapon/shield upgrading to work
correctly. I could have just been doing something wrong, but keep it in mind.
Make sure to finish achievements involving Soul Seeds ("Seed Collector" and
"Unearthly Apothecary") during your first playthrough. Soul Seeds don't carry
over into the New Game+.
I'm sure I'm forgetting about a million things here, but I'll add them as I
remember in future updates.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3. Achievements and Strategies
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. "Deliverer of Salvation" - Proof of clearing 5 side quests. It is a fine
beginning, but the journey is still long.
2. "Angel of Salvation" - Proof of clearing 25 side quests. It is a great feat
to lead so many souls to salvation.
Advice: There are side quests all over this game (66 in all). Find them by
looking for people with blue stars above their heads. They are quest givers.
The more stars (1-3), the harder and longer the quest.
These two achievements won't be too hard to get. You'll have to do all these
quests anyway to get to the final day. Refer to the quest log in your menu if
you're having trouble keeping things straight.
3. "Seed Collector" - Proof of a brave warrior who has managed to claim 50 soul
seeds from the Chaos.
Advice: "Chaos" in this sense amounts to black clouds you'll encounter while
running around. The enemies inside are a little tougher, but not much. On the
ground inside a Chaos cloud, you'll find anywhere from 0-6 or so Soul Seeds,
which look like little glowing purple things on the ground. Pick up any of
these that you see.
Getting 50 seeds usually isn't much of a problem; you'll find that many while
you're running around doing other stuff. Getting the 100 needed for the Elixir
("Unearthly Apothecary" achievement) usually takes a little grinding, but we'll
get to that in a minute.
4. "Perfect Passenger" - Proof of riding upon all of the great monorail lines
that cross this shrinking world.
Advice: You'll probably get this just playing the game, but if not I'll explain
how it works. There are monorail lines that connect the four continents in the
game, and you have to ride on all of them.
Here's the quickest method: go from Luxerion North Station to Yusnaan back to
Luxerion North Station. After that, go from Luxerion South Station to the
Wildlands to the Dead Dunes, back to the Wildlands then back to Luxerion South
Station. It sounds way more complicated than it is in reality.
5. "Globetrotter" - Proof of building strong bridges to span the depths between
continents, making all the world one.
Advice: You'll have to wait until Day 9 to get this, but you can get most of
the stuff for it beforehand. To get the achievement, you have to complete three
Canvas of Prayers quests titled Roadworks I, II and III. You'll have the goods
to complete II and III by opening four treasure spheres you'll pass while doing
Main Quest stuff (one by Oasis Lighthouse in Dead Dunes; one to the south of
Aryas Village in the Wildlands; one in the underground passage in Yusnaan; one
by the Grave of the Colossi entrance in Dead Dunes).
After that, all you have to do for Roadworks I--once you get the quest--is to
unlock two doors on the blue guard stations at the end of the bridges in both
the northwest of Luxerion and the southeast of the Wildlands. Easy stuff.
6. "A Helping Hand" - Proof of clearing 25 quests that have appeared writ on
the Canvas of Prayers.
Advice: Outside each monorail station you'll find that crazy lady Chocolina.
Talk to her to see the Canvas of Prayers quest board. There are 83 of these in
total, and though that sounds like a lot, you'll get the vast majority of the
items needed for these by just slaying monsters.
7. "Novice Swordsmith" - Proof of improving your first weapon. Did you make
something worthy?
Advice: You won't be able to do this until New Game +. Go to any blacksmith
and follow the tutorial to upgrade a weapon.
8. "Novice Shieldsmith" - Proof of improving your first shield. Use it wisely
to guard yourself.
Advice: Same as "Novice Swordsmith," but with a shield. You'll have to get the
components first, though. That means buying them from Adventuring Essentials
dudes and monster drops. See "Expert Swordsmith" for more info.
9. "Novice Synthesist" - Proof of synthesizing your first ability. Did it prove
useful?
Advice: Go visit any spell synthesis store and follow the tutorial to upgrade
an ability. You can follow the tutorial the first time to do this. It seems
kind of difficult at first, but it's not as crazy as it seems.
10. "Novice Craftsman" - Proof of upgrading your first accessory. Did you find
the experience thrilling?
Advice: This is another New Game + feature, but it works a little differently
than the rest. You upgrade accessories by combining them with another of the
same type. That means you'll have to collect a bunch of accessories again on
your new playthrough. All you have to do is pick them up again and they'll
combine automatically.
If you want to speed up the process, just bypass most of the quests and go
item-hunting around all the free-roam areas.
11. "Novice Stylist" - Proof of customizing your first schema. Continue on this
path to find your own style.
Advice: Just complete the tutorial on customizing schema toward the beginning
of the game and this will unlock.
12. "Novice Artist" - Proof of customizing the color of one of your garb. Let
your true colors shine through.
Advice: Nothing to it. Go to the menu and select a garb, then press "X" to
change that garb's color. Pick literally anything and it'll unlock when you
finish--anything, that is, besides the garb's original color.
13. "Expert Swordsmith" - Proof of modifying weapons 30 times.
Advice: Same as "Novice Swordsmith," just do it 30 times. FYI, only actual
upgrades count for this.
The sucky thing about these "Expert" achievements is that you'll have to start
your New Game + in Hard mode to get the most out of it. That's really the only
way to get Holy Forgefires and some of the other necessary components for
upgrading. There are a couple you can buy from the Adventuring Essentials
dudes who wander around towns.
I had some trouble trying to upgrade anything in Easy mode, but then went to
Hard mode and had no problem once I collected a few things, namely Holy
Forgefires. That could just be me being an idiot, but keep it in mind.
The Holy Forgefires drop from monsters and bosses (Noel in particular). A good
way of farming them is to kill the Zaltys enemies, which appear in Yusnaan
Palace. Stagger them, then walk or evade roll behind them and hit their tails
with a Heavy Slash. This should cut off the tail and give you a good chance
at getting the Holy Forgefire drop.
There's also a Demonic Forgefire component, which you can get from Caius and
a few of the Omega enemies.
14. "Expert Shieldsmith" - Proof of modifying shields 30 times.
Advice: Same as "Novice Swordsmith," but with a shield. Just do it 30 times.
15. "Expert Synthesist" - Proof of synthesizing abilities 30 times.
Advice: This isn't too hard to get. Just collect a bunch of abilities by
killing monsters, then go to a synthesist shop and combine/upgrade as much as
you can. It should come naturally as you build your spells up and clean out
your inventory.
16. "Expert Craftsman" - Proof of upgrading accessories 30 times.
Advice: As long as you hang on to all your headgear from your first playthrough
this won't be too bad. If you didn't get everything, you might have to complete
the game twice and get it on the third go-around.
Ignore most of the quests on your second playthrough and just focus on picking
up items. I think it also counts if you grab a few, then hit that hourglass
thingy in the Ark, start a new game and pick them up again--as long as you get
the upgrade message, it's good.
FYI, this is just for headgear items and not bracelets. When you grab the
bracelets again, you'll just get gil.
17. "Expert Stylist" - Proof of obtaining 30 different garb.
Advice: This includes DLC and bonus garb, but you don't need either to get this
achievement. Check each store you find and buy as many as you can. You'll also
get them from quest rewards every so often. Stores will have new inventory as
time passes, so keep revisiting places every day to make sure you're up-to-
date.
18. "Hero of Might" - Proof of victory over 100 foes in battle.
19. "Hero of Glory" - Proof of victory over 300 foes in battle.
20. "Hero of Legend" - Proof of victory over 500 foes in battle.
Advice: These will come naturally as you play. Just kill 500 enemies. Don't
avoid getting into a fight if you can help it. You'll need the item drops
anyway.
21. "Fatal Impact" - Proof of dealing damage so great that it goes beyond all
reason or expectation.
Advice: There are a few different ways of getting this, but honestly you could
probably get it without trying once Lightning is built up a little bit.
All you have to do is deal at least 100,000 damage points in a single hit. That
sounds like a lot, but it's really not. By the second half of the game, I was
doing over 100k routinely by using Artemis's Arrows on certain staggered
monsters.
In any case, here's a pretty good method of getting it (this is how I did it
anyway). Head to Rocky Crag in the Wildlands and find an Aster Protoflorian.
Beat on it until he gets into stagger, then use a schema with Beat Down. You
should get the option to Launch at some point. Do that, then when the enemy is
in the air, switch to an equipped schema with Heavy Slash. That option should
change to "Smite," which should easily do over 100k damage. Just make sure
Lightning has a good strength stat (1000 or above is good) and it should be no
problem at all.
Another good enemy for doing this is the Gurangatch. Once you break through his
defenses (which isn't too hard), he gets into stagger mode and you can really
rack up the damage. I remember hitting one for over 300k with Artemis's Arrows
without even trying.
22. "Seeing Stars" - Proof of staggering enemies 50 times with fearsome
attacks.
Advice: This will come with no effort at all. Just beat on enemies until they
get into Stagger mode, which you'll be doing all the time in battles anyway.
23. "Miracle of Light" - Proof of one who has used 50 EP.
Advice: This will also come with no effort at all. Use 50 EP through
Chronostasis, Overclock, Teleport or any other EP ability.
24. "Perfect Timing" - Proof of successfully guarding against an enemy's attack
with perfect timing.
Advice: One very important aspect of this game is learning how to guard. If you
hit the Guard option (you have to have one equipped) at the correct moment just
before an enemy's attack hits you, you'll perform a Perfect Guard and the
achievement will pop.
Some enemies are harder to do this on than others, but with a little practice
you'll get it down in no time.
SECRET ACHIEVEMENTS:
25. "The Savior's Descent" - Proof of one who has mastered the basics of this
world and begun a great journey.
Advice: You can't miss this. It's part of the main storyline and will pop near
the very beginning of the game.
26. "The Hope of a Promise" - Proof of one who has seen through the dark
mysteries that lurked in Luxerion, bringing justice.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. It'll pop after you complete the Luxerion
portion of the main quest.
27. "Hope at the Edge of Despair" - Proof of one who has stood upon the stage
in glittering Yusnaan, bringing peace to the Patron.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. It'll pop after you complete the Yusnaan
portion of the main quest.
28. "The Mystery of the Holy Clavis" - Proof of one who has made it through the
Dead Dunes to find ancient Treasure.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. It'll pop after you complete the Dead Dunes
portion of the main quest.
29. "An Appetite for Chaos" - Proof of one who has visited the temple that
towers over the Wildlands and touched the great Chaos.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. It'll pop after you complete the Wildlands
portion of the main quest.
30. "A Legend from Times Past" - Proof of the true savior, who overthrew even
the god of light to lead the people to a new world.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. It'll pop after you defeat the final boss
and finish the game.
31. "Beyond Thirteen" - Proof of making the impossible possible by using Eradia
to bring the world to a 14th day.
Advice: As the description says, you have to extend the world to a 14th day to
get this. To do so, you have to finish all the main quests and at least 45 or
so side quests. Try to do every quest available just so there's no doubt, and
also to build up Lightning's stats to the maximum.
It's also worth noting that you won't get this achievement (and the plant
thingy in the Ark won't fully bloom) until Day 13. In the meantime, there's no
real way to mark your progress on it besides looking at your quest log and
counting.
32. "A Father, a Son, and a Chocobo" - Proof of helping a father and son
reunite, bringing back a smile that seemed long gone.
Advice: Part of the main storyline. You'll get this by visiting the airship in
the northern Wildlands and completing the quest.
33. "The Chocobo's Savior" - Proof of nursing the holy chocobo back to full
health among the rich pastures of the Wildlands.
Advice: This will begin as part of the quest in the Wildlands, but you'll have
to feed your chocobo a few more times to get him fully healed and earn the
achievement. You can give him milk, medicine, vegetables, Yeul's flowers, etc.
34. "Lizard Lariat" - Proof of hunting down more than 30 lizards in the
shifting sands of the Dead Dunes.
Advice: While you're running around the Dead Dunes, you'll come across little
lizards crawling around on the sands. Hit them with your sword (RB) to kill
them, and make sure to pick up the items they drop (you'll need the lizard
tails for quests).
35: "Crimson Rebirth" - Proof of restoring a sword, once broken, to its former
glory and power.
Advice: This will come before the final boss room, when you complete the four
trials (dungeons) to repair the sword. Each of the dungeons is very linear, and
features random spawning enemies as well as some others you must fight to
progress past the doors. Nothing in here is too hard or anything you haven't
seen before, just be sure to save often and plan ahead. Each one only takes a
few minutes, especially if you run ahead and try to skip the random battles.
Once you finish all four dungeons, check the light in the middle of the room
and the achievement will pop.
36. "Queen of the Arena" - Proof of achieving victory in the lists of the
Battle Arena 10 times.
Advice: There's a Battle Arena in Yusnaan down in the southwest. You'll be
fighting in it a few times during one of the main quests, so afterward just
return and keep fighting until the achievement unlocks. You won't have to get
past anything too tough to get it.
37. "Unearthly Apothecary" - Proof of obtaining an elixir. It's so rare that it
almost seems a waste to sell it, doesn't it?
Advice: Okay, here's where we get into the "Death Game" quest stuff I mentioned
earlier. In order to get an elixir, you have to sell 100 Soul Seeds to a soul
merchant (I usually go to Baird in Luxerion, but you can use whoever).
As I said before, you'll get a great many of the required Soul Seeds by just
visiting Chaos clouds as you're running around doing other stuff. After a
while, you'll get the "Death Game" quest from Biggs and Wedge in Yusnaan. This
is a good way to farm seeds.
To farm them, start the "Death Game" quest and collect any seeds you can find
in the area. Make sure to check every path, nook and cranny you can. After you
pick up what you find, wait for an hour of game time and kill something. This
should cause the seeds to respawn, and you can grab more. Repeat the process
until you run out of time and fail the quest. If you're lucky, you can get
somewhere around 5-10 Soul Seeds per attempt. Then you can start the quest
again and keep adding to your total.
When you're doing this, be sure that you don't kill enough enemies to get the
required 30 Death Game Points that will complete the quest. Also, you'll have
to keep track of how many seeds you sell to the collectors, as the game doesn't
let you know what the total tally is. You don't have to sell them all at once,
either. You can sell a few at a time and still get it.
If you don't do this through "Death Game," it's a little harder but still
possible. Just keep running around trying to find Chaos clouds and hope for the
best.
Don't forget, you have to do this in one playthrough, as the Soul Seeds don't
carry over into a New Game +.
38. "Holy Garb of Destruction" - Proof of obtaining the ultimate garb, imbued
with destructive magic.
39. "Monster Bane" - Proof of mastering all creation and conquering the
Ultimate Lair.
Advice: You will get these two achievements by completing the Ultimate Lair,
which appears in Dead Dunes on Day 13. It's populated by 28 Last One enemies,
and you have to beat them to proceed through the dungeon.
Keep in mind that if you've already beaten a Last One, it won't appear in the
Ultimate Lair. Therefore, it's in your best interest to defeat as many as you
can before Day 13. You can't use Chronostasis while in the dungeon, so killing
a bunch of stuff beforehand will really help save time.
At the end of the Ultimate Lair, you'll find Ereshkigal. He has 7 million hit
points on normal mode and 6 million on easy. If you beat him, you'll get the
ultimate garb and both achievements.
Now, beating Ereshkigal is a little easier said than done; he'll have you
swearing if you don't go in with a strategy. The good thing here is that you
can hug the side wall as you walk into his room and surprise him for a quick
25 percent reduction in his hit points. After that, you'll need a plan.
Poison is the name of the game in this fight, as it'll do a lot more damage to
him than anything else. I found a very good strategy on the Game FAQs board
for this enemy. All credit here goes to Valhalaru, who recommends this setup:
Schema 1:
Garb: Dark Muse+
Sword: Bonecracker
Shield: II Nome Della Rosa
Accessory: Crippling Hood
Abilities: Slow, Poison, Heavy Slash Lvl 4, Fira Lvl 3
Schema 2:
Garb: Mist Wizard+
Sword: Chaos's Revenge
Shield: II Nome Della Rosa
Accessory: Bandit Scarf
Abilities: Poison, Heavy Slash Lvl 3, Blizarra Lvl 3
Schema 3:
Garb: Equilibrium+
Sword: Femme Fatale
Shield: Anything with high guard/defense
Accessory: Preta Hood
Ring: Runic Ring
Abilities: Deshell, Mediguard Lvl 3, Attack Lvl 4, Poison Lvl 3
Strategy:
Stagger Ereshkigal with Blizzara and Fira from Garbs 1 and 2. Switch to Garb 3
to defend against incoming magic spells. After he's been staggered three times,
spam Poison with Garb 3. Also, keep Slow up on him as much as possible.
With a little practice you should be able to 5-star this one easily (but it's
not necessary to get the achievement; all you have to do is beat him). I did it
on my first try using this strategy and finished the fight in 10 minutes. I got
no stars and died a handful of times (I used Phoenix Downs and Arise to
recover), but it got the job done wonderfully.
40. "Desert Dragonslayer" - Proof of victory over the dragon Aeronite who
brought terror to the Dead Dunes.
Advice: Aeronite is a large dragon who appears around the Giant's Sandbox area
of the Dead Dunes from Day 7 to Day 13. You'll notice him as a black ball
surrounded by lighting, which you'll recognize if you played "Final Fantasy
XIII-2."
I won't mince words here: Aeronite is a butthole. He has 11 million HP on
normal mode and 8.8 million on easy. The good thing is that all you have to do
for the achievement is beat him; style points and stars don't count.
So, with that said, there are at least a couple of different ways of doing it.
This should probably be the last quest you take care of, so that Lightning's
stats are maxed out as much as possible. You'll need to stagger Aeronite a
total of four times before he becomes weak enough to start doing big damage. If
you can't stagger him quickly enough, he'll fly away and you'll have to track
him down and fight him again.
You'll want to focus at first on -ra spells, such as Aerora and Thundara, which
will help get him staggered quickly. Whenever an attack comes in, switch to a
defensive schema and block it, or you'll be in trouble quickly. He hits hard.
Once he's been staggered four times and lies down on the ground, start wailing
on him with high-damage techniques. Try to time everything perfectly for max
output. Quick strike weapons and schema will help a lot.
All of that said, I beat Aeronite with a somewhat "cheap" method. I went in
with Watery Chorus, Soldier of Peace and Vengeance garbs with Chaos's Revenge,
Flesh Render and Shadow Hunter as my weapons. I had about five Ethers, a few
Phoenix Downs, an Elixir and a few of those potions from the alchemist lady at
the Battle Arena.
As soon as the battle began, I went into Overclock mode and stayed there for
the entire fight. I started out with the combination of Jump/Beat Down to get
Aeronite's stagger meter up and kept doing that until the final part of the
battle. Once he was staggered for the fourth time, I switched to Soldier of
Peace and spammed Artemis's Arrows until the dragon died, staying in Overclock
the whole time, pausing only to refill my EP with ethers or slam a quick
potion.
By the time I killed Aeronite, all of my recovery items were gone (including
the precious elixir). I got zero stars and one battle point for my efforts--
yes, you read that correctly. ONE stinking point. I wish I would have taken a
screenshot of it. In any case, the important thing was that Aeronite was dead
and I had my "Desert Dragonslayer" achievement.
I'm not sure whether or not that's a reliable strategy or what, but it worked
for me. I may have just gotten lucky. Regardless, I'm sure it wouldn't work on
Normal mode.
41. "Harbinger of Death" - Proof of defeating your first Last One, the final
specimen of a species on the verge of extinction.
42. "Goddess of Death" - Proof of defeating 10 Last Ones, exterminating forever
10 different species of monster.
Advice: A "Last one" (also known as an "Omega") is the very last monster that
exists of a particular type. You have to kill many examples of that monster in
order for the Last One to appear, and once you defeat that one the monster will
no longer appear in that playthrough.
You'll recognize a Last One by its pink color. Each Last One drops a special
item when you defeat it, so don't forget to check the ground after the fight.
Depending on which monster you're dealing with, there are different numbers
necessary to exterminate before you encounter a last one. Generally, larger
enemies (such as a Reaver) take just 30 kills, while smaller ones (such as a
Gremlin) take up to 120. There are a few exceptions, though.
Moenekton takes over 65,000 kills to reach the Last One, so just save him for
the final dungeon in Day 13. Also, there are a few enemies who you will only
be able to kill on the last day, and a few you can't exterminate at all (some
mechanical enemies, humanoids, Flanitor, etc.) so keep that in mind.
Anyway, long story short, kill 10 and you'll have both achievements.

4. Conclusion
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now that wasn't too bad, was it?
Love it or loathe it, "Lightning Returns" is a very unique experience within
the Final Fantasy universe. I had plenty of minor gripes myself (such as the
lack of playable characters, the change-up on the battle system that I was just
getting used to, the unnecessary countdown clock, Hope's annoying banter, etc.)
but on the whole I loved the game and spent a lot of time with it.
As far as difficulty in getting all the achievements, I'd put it in between
"Final Fantasy XIII-2" (easier) and "Final Fantasy XIII" (harder). That's just
me personally, though. Honestly, I'm just a mediocre player when it comes to
this series.

Thanks to GameFAQs for hosting this guide.
Thanks to you for clicking on it (and reading this far).
If you have questions relating to the game, or if you'd like to point out
mistakes or better strategies for any of the achievements, e-mail me at
bombdirt<at>aol.com (except replace the "<at>" with "@"). Yes, I still have an
AOL account. I use it for signups and spam, but I still check it regularly.
Just make sure to title the e-mail "Final Fantasy" or "Lightning Returns" or
something like that; otherwise it probably won't get opened.
If you contribute something to this guide, I'll give credit in this section.
