Welcome to 'Les Manley in: The Search for the King' for the PC, an adventure
game by Manley and Associates Inc. released in 1990. It was also released on
the Amiga.

02.) BASICS G0200
===============================================================================
Using the walkthrough will skip a rather large part of the game. Often you will
not know why you are doing certain actions. I highly recommend talking to many
people and trying all sorts of things. Do not forgot to save often and on
different slots, the game can be cruel if you missed something. Use the point
list to know what needs to be covered in each area, or only the hints if you
are stuck.
You control the game with the mouse and direction keys. Left click on the top
blue bar to get the menu to appear, or press ESC, where you can switch the
sound on/off, save, load, quit or restart.
F3 does not work for repeat typing, but type any character and then use the up
and down keys to get the phrases you have used previously.
The number in the ()s is the amount of points you get during the game and the
total you should have this point. They are listed again in the point list for a
quick overview.

03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300
===============================================================================
New York City:
``````````````
After the introduction you start in your office. At the desk, OPEN DRAWER and
TAKE THERMOS (10, 10) as well as TAKE BAG (10, 20). Leave the office to the
right and at the water cooler, OPEN THERMOS and FILL THERMOS WITH WATER (10,
30). Continue right and enter the boss' office. ASK REVIEW and wait until the
receptionist comes in. When the boss peeks at her, TAKE KEY (10, 40) and leave.
Back at the water cooler, UNLOCK DOOR, OPEN DOOR and walk inside. TAKE ID (10,
50) from the tool box and leave the storage. Walk right and PUSH BUTTON for the
elevator and ride it down. LOOK DREAM (10, 60) *you may skip the dream and get
all the points*. TAKE DREAM when it's finished (10. 70). At this point you can
just type USE <something> to get 10 points (10, 80). It can be anything, just
you have to do it at one point in the game. OPEN DOOR and leave the station
building.
Outside, cross the street and go left all the way to the carnival. Around the
mid-left section is a paved area you can go left at. You'll end up at the
owner's trailer (Bob). KNOCK DOOR, ASK JOB, ASK FOR JOB (10, 90). Go down one
screen and GET SHOVEL (10, 100) to start working. Wait a while and then DROP
SHOVEL. Return to the trailer, KNOCK DOOR, ASK TICKET, GET TICKET (10, 110) and
go back right to the carnival main area. At the lone wagon on the mid-right
section, LOOK and walk inside. ASK ABOUT KING, ASK ABOUT FUTURE eight times
(10, 120). ASK FORTUNE and TOUCH GIRL. She should disappear now. TOUCH LIZARD
and TAKE CARD that appears (10, 130). TAKE WAX (10, 140) and LEAVE. Get close
to the Strongest Man stand and LOOK. Stand next to Luigi and GIVE WAX TO LUIGI
(10, 150). When he's done, TAKE ROSIN on the left (10, 160). Now go to the
stand behind him to meet, Helmut, the World's Smallest Man. If you left the
previous stand, just go to the stand between the Largest Lady and the Tallest
Man and LOOK. Either way, GIVE DREAM TO HELMUT (10, 170) and TAKE HELMUT (10,
180). Go to the popcorn stall near the circus tent (LOOK) and TAKE POPCORN (10,
190). Enter the circus tent and THROW POPCORN AT LION. Once the lion has
started chewing the popcorn, walk left and GIVE ROSIN TO FRED (10, 200). After
the scene, TAKE CAPE (10, 210) and leave the tent. Return all the way to the
bus stop opposite your workplace and MAIL HELMUT (10, 220) at the mailbox. Walk
further right and KNOCK DOOR. SHOW ID to get inside. SIT COUCH next to her and
ASK FOR SODA. Ask her to SHOW SCARF to you, SPILL SODA ON SCARF to get kicked
out. Continue going right and CLIMB FENCE to TAKE SCARF (10, 230) off the line.
CLIMB FENCE to get back and return all the way to the circus. At the tent
entrance (LOOK), walk onto the Test-O-Strength device to get to...
Las Vegas:

First thing go right to the desert and one more screen to find a phone. ANSWER
PHONE and watch the conversation (10, 240). DRINK WATER (10, 250) and return to
the beginning. At the mailbox, OPEN MAILBOX and TAKE HELMUT. Continue left to
arrive at the casino.
Walk up the stairs. At the reception desk, CALL FABULOUS and then walk to the
upper left to find the pool area. Walk one more screen left, SIT CHAIR that is
now empty. Once Lyla is gone swimming, TAKE SHADES (10, 260). Return to the
reception and continue all the way left. Enter the elevator, PUSH BUTTON, then
walk right to the hotel room. Inside the bathroom, TAKE FLOSS (10, 270) and at
the center of the room, just behind the middle pillar, TAKE SIGN (10, 280) and
REVERSE SIGN (10, 290), then PLACE SIGN ON DOOR again. SIT BED, STAND and walk
over to the maid's cart. Once the maid started tidying up the bed TAKE KEY (10,
300) and leave this area left. PUSH BUTTON on the elevator once more to get to
another area of the hotel. Go one screen left and into the jacuzzi. TIE HELMUT
TO FLOSS (10, 310), then LOWER HELMUT IN DRAIN (10, 320) to TAKE FLOSS. PUSH
BUTTON at the elevator yet again to return to the ground floor. Walk one screen
left and OPEN DOOR to the dry cleaners. Inside, SHOW RECEIPT and TAKE SUIT (10,
330), ASK ABOUT KING (10, 340) and LEAVE. Exit the hotel entirely and use your
THUMB (10, 350) to get a lift to...
Kingdom:
````````
Leave the screen to get to the large map. Find Red's Bar and Grill near the
restrooms. Enter the phone booth and WEAR SUIT (10, 360). OPEN DOOR to the bar
and DANCE (10, 370).
At the Kingdom, and enter the mansion near the attraction spot. LOWER HELMUT IN
MOUTH (10, 380) to disable the alarm. Go right and to the guitar behind the
rope. TAKE GUITAR (10, 390) then FIX GUITAR (10, 400). TAKE MIC (10, 410) in
the trophy case. Back in the foyer, go to the screen above (not upstairs), TAKE
BANANA on the huge dining table (10, 420) then go upstairs in the foyer. OPEN
BUREAU on the righthand side and TOUCH MECHANISM (10, 430). SLIDE POLE (10,
440) and RELEASE POLE (10, 450) at hte bottom. TAKE BREAD (10, 460) at the bar
and then OPEN COUNTER on the right side. Near the oven, SPREAD BUTTER ON BREAD
(10, 470), then OPEN DOOR on the right and leave the mansion.
Note: Before you finish the game you might want to complete your points so type
WHO IS THE KING (10, 480) and EXCUSE ME (10, 490).
Back at the Bar and Grill, OPEN DOOR and walk inside. SING on stage to finish
the game (10, 500).

05.) HINTS G0500
===============================================================================
1.) What do I need to become the King?
You need to find a scarf, a cape, shades and a suit. You will find the first 2
items in New York, and the latter 2 in Las Vegas so don't move on without
them.
2.) I died at the end, what can I do?
Find something that can resurrect yourself perhaps? Sounds gypsy style.
3.) The boss keeps shooting me after I take the key!
Make him look away, THEN take it.
4.) Mr. Fabulous is in my space.
Maybe an important phone call will lure him away.
5.) The maid will not let me take the key!
She has hired to clean and tidy up, so make a mess somewhere to keep her busy.
6.) What is the deal with the 20 additional points?
You can type WHO IS THE KING at any point for 20 points, and the same goes for
typing EXCUSE ME although to make more sense you might want to do it after
eating peanut butter and banana sandwich which makes you burp.
