01.) INTRODUCTION G0100

Welcome to 'Les Manley in: Lost in L.A.' for the PC, an adventure game released
by Accolade in 1992. This is the sequel to 'Les Manley in: Search for the King'
released two years prior. The two games link a few story elements but you can
perfectly well enjoy this game without having played the first.
Les Manley is a bit of a rip-off of Leisure Suit Larry, in that he is a loser
trying to make it in the world. His name stems from the developer Manley &
Associates.

02.) BASICS G0200
===============================================================================
Different to the first game, you completely play this game with the mouse.
Click on the screen to interact with anything, the cursor will automatically
change to the appropriate icon such as '?'.
Moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen will bring up the icon
menu and inventory. Here you can also access the computer to save, load, quit
and change the sound settings. Use the 'hand' icon to touch something. It's
required in certain situation. To use the inventory, click on it first and
then on the location on the screen you want to use it.

03.) WALKTHROUGH G0300
===============================================================================
Venice Beach:
`````````````
Start by walking left one screen. Here, attempt to open the newspaper box and
then read the news about the eclipse.
Continue left and talk to Lifeguard Lance standing next to surfboards. Ask if
he knows Helmut and he'll end up telling you he's your bud, and you should tell
Cristy and Misty. Speak to him again and mention the eclipse might keep people
away. When the screen goes dark while in the top-down view, grab his bandana.
Return to the first screen where you started out and speak to Cristy and Misty
about everything. Leave the screen to the right.
Hollywood Boulevard:
````````````````````
Walk left one screen and talk to the traffic offer. Ask if his name is Rock.
You will get information about the LAPD database.
Speak to the tourist couple on the left. Ask if they have heard about the
disappearances and reply with "Shucks, no" to the question. Give them your
autograph in exchange for a spare map.
Go south and speak to 'The Boyz'. Asking about the disappearances is not too
easy, so finally say "Yo! I'm looking for my homeboy, the beanster." Later say
you need a modem, ask about Helmut and you'll get the information.
Return to the beginning of the boulevard where the wax museum is, then go
right. Enter the hotel and ask about the kid across the street. Leave and come
back. Ask about the item under his hand you just saw briefly. Before you get
the pass he will ask you to develop the film he found. Agree to do so.
Outside, look at the film. It turns out it has not even been used yet. Talk to
Blade about "Peacechild". Promise to not tell anything and he will reveal some
information. Ask for some advice and he will give some about 'The Boyz'. Also
find out that he is waiting for a phone call.
Go back left twice and enter the photo shop at the top left. Give Rainbow your
film cartridge and pick 'LaFonda'.
Talk to 'The Boyz' about going into the pawn shop and show them the red
bandanna. Enter the pawn shop and give the newly acquired photo with LaFonda in
exchange for the laptop. Leave the store and go left.
Sunset and Vine:
````````````````
Walk right and give your spare map to the guy in exchange for a cell phone.
Continue right to get to the map screen.
Rodeo Drive:
````````````
Click on the pigeon in the bottom right corner. Use the credit card to scrape
off the pigeon poo off the windscreen. Return left for the map screen.
Hollywood Boulevard:
````````````````````
Walk right and give the cell phone to Brad. Ask for help to find the password
to the LAPD database.
Go south and give the free pass to the bouncer. You will wake up next to two
girls who will tell you about the events of the evening. Talk to them again and
ask about a phone jack. You want ONE thing, a DOS disk. Pick it up to move over
to the laptop. Use the computer to BOOT, then HACK. Use the password 'Elvis' to
complete the hacking. Afterwards, leave the screen to the right until you reach
the map.
Paramounds Studios:
```````````````````
Speak to the security guard and mention you want to see Abe or Maladonna. Ask
if he really wants a reason. Open the second hangar from the right and go
through the door. Look closely at the rowboat and use the pigeon spoo to fill
the hole. Climb in to get across to the other side. Walk towards the cabin (by
the lake) and Jason Myers will burst out. Tell him that Freddy's scarier. After
the events, pick up the axe and open stage door where the sign is. Leave the
stage for a cutscene.
Sunset and Vine:
````````````````
Enter the office and talk to Tony. Tell him he does not realize who you are.
You will need a portfolio and will leave Go right to the photo studio. With
your reference you can make a portfolio, but first you need some plastic
surgery. Leave the area.
Rodeo Drive:
````````````
Enter the 'Les Plastique' and tell Dr. Nick you were sent by Luther. After some
conversation you will end up with the wax nose. With that in hand, return to
Sunset and Vine.
Sunset and Vine:
````````````````
Walk right and enter the photo studio once again. After taking the photographs
you can return to Tony's office for a lunch arrangement. Return to Rodeo Drive
once more.
Rodeo Drive:
````````````
Enter 'Les Boutique' on the screen to the right. Tell the woman you are just
looking around. Walk behind the clothes on the right to hide and witness a
scene with Maladonna.
Spago:
``````
During the conversation with Abe, do NOT accept his offer. Instead you will be
invited to the Nikopoulas party.
Nikopoulas Party:
`````````````````
Click on the top right corner where you find yourself with Maladonna and Abe.
Get them into an argument by throwing evidence into the conversation. Watch the
scenes.
Wax Museum:
```````````
Use the axe on the boarded doors. Inside, walk right to the end and use the
touch icon (in your inventory) on the body of LaFonda to get some wax. Pick up
the torch hanging on the wall and return to the first screen. Use the torch on
the sword and walk right once again. Drop the sword near Helmut and use the
torch on him.
As Helmut, pick up the torch and the sword. Use the sword on the podium you
were on to get some wax. Use this wax on the Alien's drool. Go left twice and
use the sword to cut off the cloth Tarzan is wearing. Back right one screen,
use the sword to open the sarcophagus at the left side.
Use the cloth on the lowest part to parachute down. After landing, use the cup
o' drool on the steel straps. After the scene, use the credit card on the two
bimbos.
In the next part, open the trap door to get up next to Mad Wax. As talking does
not fruit any results, show him your credit card. Pull the bell ropes behind
Mad Wax. After the short scene, put the wax into your ears to avoid personal
damage. Attempt to pick up the silver revolver which turns out to be a prop
after all. Wait for Helmut's signal and then click on Mad Wax to finish off the
game.

particular card. Les never leaves home without it.
You start out with this. Used to scrape off the pigeon poo
off the car's windscreen. Shown to the two bimbos near the
end of the game as well as Mad Wax.

Cellular Phone Perfect for those unexpected calls.
Received in exchange for the spare L.A. map with the guy on
Sunset and Vine. Given to Brad in exchange for the hint
about the LAPD database password.

Conan's sword A long, hard blade with a razor sharp edge.
Melted away off the Conan statue in the wax museum. Used by
Helmet to cut off some wax of the podium he was standing on
as well as Tarzan's loin cloth. Also used to open the
sarcophagus.

Cup o' drool Hightly corrosive. Do not put in contact with anything.
(Unless, of course, you want it to dissolve!)
Mix of the wax of the podium with the Alien drool. Used on
the steel straps keeping Les on the table.
